Saturday saw Winnington Park 2nd's take on a resurgent Cheadle who had won their previous 2 games. Cheadle won the toss and elected to bat on a good batting track. They were in trouble at 68-6 after a fiery opening spell by Bryan Shingler (4-51) and at 128-9 but a last wicket stand of 97 saved them being all out for 222, with Mike Samuels scoring an excellent 115. Matt Atherton bowled well for his 3-35. In reply Winnington were in trouble at 14-2, but a solid stand of 70 by Matt Atherton (47) and Ian Johns settled nerves, however Winnington regularly lost wickets and apart from Paul Winder with 14, Ian Johns carried his bat for 59 not out in an all out total of 182. For Cheadle Brett Kinsey and Chris Hyde each took 3 wickets. Cheadle won by 40 runs, Cheadle 25 points, Winnington 9.
