Hello all,
I'd be curious to know what everyone's connection is with Hammond.  Have you been there?  How did you find out about it?  When was the last time you visited there?  What was your first experience and thoughts about Hammond?

For me.... I was introduced to the place when a great mate of mine came up with a hair brain idea to buy a holiday home in Hammond.  As a keen (very amature) landscape photographer, I was immediatley drawn in by the beautiful sunsets, wide open spaces and old buildings which seem to have escaped the wrath of vandals.
The more I research the place, the more intrigued I am by it.  It really is the town that time has forgotten.

I first came across Hammond a couple of years ago when staying in Melrose. There was a notice in the local store advertising the Hammond Trash an Treasure event, so off we went to explore. The brat boys and I loved the place immediately and planned on returning sometime to explore further.

As fate would have it, some friends were there the same week and had their sites on buying a property there as a holiday house, and that they did and they haven't looked back since. I always knew they had the Flinders in their veins, now they are lucky enough to have a piece of it to call home.

Keep smiling - it makes people wonder what you've been up to!!

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one step away from each person he or she knows and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is an average of six "steps" away from each person on Earth.

so what is your link to some one living in Hammond.

this is a weird one. the person that used to own our hammond house used to live in the country town we live in now and his sister in-law only still lives only two doors away...

Greetings from Gawler,

I work with Fabio, who showed me your site (he has a pic of Hammond on his desktop), then we discover we both know Makka . . .

Great concept with the weather station and web cams.

Must visit Ham and Eggs one day - when we eventually get that far in the Flinders.

The pics you've posted are great, particularly some of the weather ones - really good to see some of the area when its wet - good to see it does rain up there sometimes.

Cheers,

Darryl.
