Had a minor medical set back today. The surgeons at Harper were trying to see how well Mom was regulating her own ICP, but when they raised the drain to 25, Mom's pressure started to increase higher than they would like to see it. So today they performed a lumbar puncture to try and help her drain some of the heavier blood that may have collected at the base of her spine. It's a pretty routine procedure, done at the bedside. They are going to try and drain her from the base of her spine for the next several days, and then try to let her regulate her own ICP again. A little disappointing, but not that bad.

On the other hand, Mom was awesome today. She was pretty relaxed in her surroundings, and I got the impression that she knew what was going on, and was content to let her body do some healing. At one point I got her to smile at me while I was teasing her about having to learn how to do everything over again. I told her (Mr. Sensitive) that if she was having a hard time relearning to read and write this fall, we could enroll her in kindergarten with Kristopher! That's when she smiled at me and gave my beard a sharp tug! I think her sense of humor is still there. Also today when I was leaving for the day I waved goodbye as I was walking out the door, and Mom waved back with her right hand. Her right hand was still restrained, so it was pretty cute to watch her raise it as far as she could and wave. We also gave her one of the little worry blankets that Jenny made for her, and she seems to really like it. She was constantly playing with it with her right hand, and reaching for when she couldn't find it.

That's all for now. I'll be going back down there on Sunday, and I will also post any info that Bob sends my way tomorrow.

John -
Just wanted to let you know I have been keeping up on your mom with Mat & Jess.  She is a great lady and a fighter.  She may be down now but she certainly is not out!  We are thinking of you all and keeping her in our prayers.
Love to you,

John!

Thank you for the latest report on Pam. There always seems to be a breakthrough through the struggle!!  Pam is such a graceful warrior!  You know, I am NOT surprised that Pam sense of humor and that million dollar smile stands stoutly along side the prayers of her loved ones to the “One” who brings that great healing and the little miracles of life this side of heaven!  What a wonderful witness it is to experience how Pam expresses her sweet love to her children without even saying a word!  For it is in this beautiful warm, tender and humorously-wonderful way that she will fight this good fight for love and be victorious!!  For she has been, and will always be a miraculous survivor of this human life, you wonderfully warm and loving warrior, YOU!

Standing by in continued prayer and a brilliant, face-breaking smile of thanksgiving!

To all of Pam's family

I'm so happy to hear how Pam is recovering. I'm not surprised though, she is a strong lady and nothing is going to hold her back. I'm so grateful for the daily updates. I read them daily. Just want you all to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. And Pam, my dear, keep on fightin'!

All our love,
Joe & Sherry Gaffka

Hi John,

What a WONDERFUL MOM and GRANDMA she is.  I hope to see her soon so I can just hold her hand.  I want you to know that when Bob and Pam were doing knuckles yesterday, Kris was teaching me how to do that.  See we are all on the same wave link.  Please, inform Grandma Pam for me about Kris teaching me so now I can do them with her.  Us Grandma's will stay together through thick and thin.  Tell Bob "HI" and everything will be just fine.  Love to all, Granny Mel
