Star War Galaxies is very different than other MMOs, especially when it comes to making credits. The difference derives from one very important fact that you will need to keep in mind whenever you undertake any credit making endeavor: The economy is primarily designed to revolve around the buying and selling of players’ crafted goods. The developers of SWG don’t want the game’s economy to be dependent on loot. They are very set against a player being able to farm specific mobs and camp continuous spawn sites. Unlike many other MMOs, obtaining credits will not be as easy as killing mass amounts of respawnable mobs for loot that you can sell to an NPC. Because loot is very limited, mostly random and there are very few in-game buy back systems for items and equipment, many times players need to sell these items to other players for cash. Throughout the game’s development anytime a “get rich quick method” was discovered it was alleviated by the developers in order to keep the game’s economy intact, and the economy is closely watched to ensure that there are no game mechanics that can be used by players to amass vast amounts of balance.
