In the new update, a new PVP Consequence system has been introduced, which said that killing a weak and innocent player now generates murder points. If a player is ‘grey’ to you and outside your PVP range then they are considered an innocent. Let see how this whole system runs: Attacking an innocent player immediately flags you as a criminal. This flag lasts 5 minutes and is refreshed on subsequent criminal attacks.
Attacking a criminal, free prey or murderer will not affect your status.
Killing a murderer or criminal will not generate murder points.
Accumulating 100 murder points will flag you as a murderer. The number of murder points generated by any given kill depends on the difference in level between you and your target. The maximum amount of murder points allocated for a single kill is capped at 35 points. Murderers will be attacked by guards and be unable to trade with normal vendors. Instead, murderers will have to seek out renegade vendors on the fringes of society, who will have no qualms about using your outlaw status as an excuse to increase their prices. You will find these outlaw camps throughout the various regions of Hyboria.
Exploring regions beyond your level is dangerous in the extreme. If you are too low level to safely explore a region you will be flagged as ‘Free Prey and high level players killing you will not cause any consequences for your attacker. As a general rule the earliest ‘safe’ level for a playfield has been set as two levels below the start level of quests that appear in that region. You can absolve yourself of murder points in a number of ways: Over Time: Every 2 hours your murder score will be reduced by 1. Earn Experience: Your murder score is reduced by 1 for every 1% of level xp gained from killing foes (not other players in PvP or xp gained from completing quests). So gaining a level solely from destroying creatures & monsters in Hyboria will reduce your murder point score by 100. Perform Redemption Quests: Quest givers at outlaw camps can offer murderers missions that will help restore their standing in the eyes of society and the law. The particular method depends on the region and society. Frontier justice is brutal and swift. Killing a murderer increases PVP xp gained by +100%. Any player trading with a criminal or murderer will receive a warning, before being themselves flagged as a criminal. Any player joining a group containing a criminal/murderer will also be warned and then flagged as a criminal for as long as there is a criminal or murderer in the group, and 5 minutes after. A team member performing a criminal act will also flag group members in the vicinity (any group members in the same playfield region) as criminals.
