Re :   Journal

I have had others tell me the same thing. I do believe it is true. I hope I can encourage you to do what is best for your body overall. The body does protest when we get careless. I lost control this past week. I not only had a 2 pound gain, I had digestive problems. Wake up call for me to quit abusing myself with food!
Back on track.

Hi Candy.  I had been really tired and
achey so I started eating less refined carbs and found my energy level
greatly enhanced. I just plain feel better all around. I have tried
this before but always slipped back into bad habits. I hope I can keep
up with this type of eating. I don't mean that I never eat refined
carbs, I just cut way back on them.

Re :   Journal

Quite truthfully, I feel protected and in control because almost all my meals are cooked by me and eaten alone. However, once a year for the past 4 years I have gone on vacation to visit my DD where we eat out every meal. Consistently each year I come home with a weight loss. For me, it is an inhibitor to eat a meal with other people, which quite possibly be why I stayed thin throughout raising my family and the early years of my second marriage when we ate all meals together. I know that sounds nutty, but you can see it is the exact opposite as you. One thing I note that you repeated was you ate and was too full. That is the cycle that IE attempts to break and that is eating only until a satisfied feeling is felt. As you have stated before, you have a problem with leaving food on a plate, even another. It was the way you were raised, as I was, but I have broken that critical habit when I eat out, and when I eat home, if it is something I immediately sense that it is not satisfying, it goes in the garbage and I grab a sandwich instead which never disappoints me. Just "food for thought," Carol, as we break strongholds.

Re :   Journal

I had a rough 2 days. My daughter and I went with my DH to a veterinary conference in Wisconsin Dells. We stayed at a nice resort and everything was free......waterpark, meals, etc. My DD and I went shopping most of the day and had a lunch at an unfamiliar restaraunt. My food wasn't too bad but I was too full. Then later we had ice cream and when we finally got back to the motel she was hungry again so she bought a fruit cup that was expensive. We were planning on ordering in when my DH comes back and says we are going to a steak dinner that was provided. I had steak for lunch but was a little hungry and the food was terrible. Again I was too full. Not being at home and eating what I want is a problem. At night my DD and I went to the indoor waterpark and I just watched because she wanted to do the surfing ride and we didn't bring money for a locker to put our things in. She had to stand in line quite awhile and we only had 50min. left. When I went to bed I didn't feel well and slept poorly. I had diarrhea and thought maybe it was something I ate. The next morning my DD and I worked on school work so I thought I wasn't going to get use the park again because my DH had to get home to work cattle. I was feeling even more bummed when I tried on some shirts I had purchased and they were too small! Later my Dh says we can stay a little longer so to get my swimming suit on. Another DD and her DH and little girl arrived to join us so things started to get better. I'm glad I only had a strawberry ice type drink for breakfast because we stayed quite awhile and when we went to McDonalds I could get a meal and not feel like I was overdoing it again. Put it this way, yesterday was a bummer but today went better. Another thing I was feeling bad about is that my youngest DD had to buy larger sizes when we went shopping. She didin't seem too worried and I always try to reassure her. I just don't want her to get in the dieting mode that I have been in most of my life. ( Except for a brief chubby period around age 10 I was thin until after I had kids)

Re :   Journal

I am pretty well timed with meals. Sometimes I do eat earlier than usual if I am hungry and note that I do overall eat less by doing that.

Re :   Journal

Candy do you ever have the problem of being hungry, ingnoring it for awhile
and then being ravenous with resulting overeating? It seems like such
a fine line and if your not near food you can go overboard when you do
get near it. Is it possible to "time" your hunger so that doesn't
happen?

Re :   Journal

Thank you so very much, Carol. To know I have a Grace family is what sees me through each day and keeps me looking up.

Moses has cancer but he is such a happy dog that I can't but help to be as good natured as he is.

Our Vet said to not expect much improvement with Lucky until today, but he vastly improved yesterday in being able to breathe.

It is so odd that I have supreme health, yet my boys are always going to and from the Vet for emergencies and medicines. It keeps me real for sure and broke!

I had a great day eating wise two days in a row. Today is my no cook day and I hope I don't want to eat anything I can find handy. That is typically when I haven't planned the day and spin out of control.

Candy, So sorry to hear about all your sorrows.  How is your doggie?  We have lots of doggies and kitties, of course, horses, too.  They don't come in the house much.  But they are very friendly.  Praying for you and remembering that the Lord's mercies are new every morning.  Isn't that one of Rosie's favorite sayings?

Re :   Journal

Glad the weight is staying stable. Yeah, I also really think long and hard if I do want something. Yesterday I made chili. It was so good but toot-toot. LOL

Re :   Journal

I'm having a hard time trying to decide what to eat lately.  I get in a rut and eat the same thing for breakfast for a week and then nothing sounds good.  But I'm really hungry so must eat.  Maybe I should make a list of things I like.  ha!  We had a chuck roast last night and it was just too rich for me.  Paid with a stomach ache for part of the night.  I have a nice cookbook with lower fat recipes.  Guess I'll check it out.  My FIL left today after a 2 week stay so I was probably cooking more for that reason.  Weight is staying the same so that's good.

Re :   Journal

We all have days we are not particulary proud of.  I am slowly losing my fascination with food.  And the second helping is rarely a temptation.  I think what is entirely important for you to recall is the awareness you have now.  That is how we overcome. No better words can be said than what you said to yourself. "Today is a new day."

Re :   Journal

I guess when I am really hungry, I still have an obsession with food. For example, yesterday I was at a conference and the food was very unappealing. So my DD took me out for a hot fudge sundae. That would have been ok except on the way home we stopped to eat again and I had another!!! I was more than a little ashamed of myself.....just so deperate to have something that tasted good. Part of the problem was that we were going to eat the evening meal at a favorite restaraunt and there was a 65 to 75 min wait which we couldn't afford since we had to drive another 2 hr. home. Oh well. Today is a new day.  Guess I don't consider myself an emotional eater except I do eat just for something to do sometimes. Usually when I am upset about something my appetite vanishes.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Re :   Journal

Had a real IE day yesterday. By that I mean I had a cherry coke, the whole thing, in the afternoon, and it tasted so good. I hadn't done that in years! Eating was pretty moderate the rest of the day. Just to think you can have a can of coke and not feel guilty. ha!

Dh has gone backbacking in CO before and he did tell me I would never be able to breathe there. Whatever trail they took on a professional guided tour, oxygen was available. Praying for a breath of fresh air, as we would say, for you also, Carol.
