SOME DAYS ARE LIKE THIS

Days when greys are overhead
time lies with me in brackened bed
then the sea cries loud and clear,
"Come" it calls, in echoed voice
rippling, above the noise
of tidal to and froing near my ear.

Today is lethargy's head bowed
to tempt me not to join the crowd
of gulls who glide and swoop in sky,
the jetsum and the flotsum's fine
for company outside of mine and so
I pitter pat the waves as, I pass by.

Lovely, would it by any chance be a sandpiper? I love them...

The seclusion of sea and self. Treading ones own path, far from the madding crowd. I so nearly missed this, Zy. and that would have been a great loss.

Gordon

PS - I'll see Maria's Sandpiper and raise her to a Turnstone, unless I'm mistaken;)

heehee, is Turnstone celtic for a Sandpiper, Gordon, I've never heard of a Turnstone,
but I know sandpipers do 'turn stones' over for grubs underneath.

Great insight into my inspiration, Gordon, yep, you got it, absolutely, in one. merci, mon ami, Zy

I am no ornithologist, Maria, but yes, I thought it might have been, but it was more the total composition

of this picture which 'grabbed' me...and yes, me too, (remembering the film of same name) thanks, Zy x

Short bill - piebald head & throat markings... Yup.  Turnstone. (Arenaria interpres)

You forgetting I spent every childhood summer by the shore, Zy?smiley1
