I was 39 weeks and 5 days when I woke up at 5am and had belly ache, I'd had it for a few days and thought I was just constipated and needed the loo!
I went to the toilet and noticed a tiny spot of blood and mucus.
I tried to sleep, but couldn't and told Sean I was bleeding, he went back to sleep!
I timed my pains and they were 20minutes in between each time.
I laid in bed until 7.30 and then rung the hospital as the bleeding was getting heavier, they said it sounded like my show and I could be in labour and to go in.
I woke Sean up at 11.30, we bathed and got ready. We called a taxi, which was half an hour late and he drove us to the hospital.
We arrived and they took us into a room to have the monitor on my tummy, it measured my contractions and Jasmin's heart beat, at this point she was still jumping about whilst I was having contractions that at that point were 10minutes apart.
By the end of the hour, they were 5 minutes in between, Jasmin was still jolting about, but less. They told me she was very excited about coming out!
They asked us to go for a walk in the back garden to decide if we were going to stay or go. My midwife said she would see me at 8pm as I was only in early labour.
After our walk in the garden, my contractions started to hurt and we decided to stay.
My midwife said they will do the internal, I sent Sean out of the room, I still had some dignity at that point lol!
She said wow, you are 6 and a 1/2 cm's dilated, your over half way gone already, so you can get in the pool if you like.
Sean went to town to get me some fruit and some lunch for himself.
The midwives run me the birthing pool and I got in when Sean was back. I tried to eat, but almost threw up and trying to vomit whilst having a contraction really doesn't go together!
By this point I was in ALOT of pain and I kept asking how long it would take, could I have some more pain relief cos I hated gas and air and told them to take the useless crap away lol! They advised pethadine but I'd have to get out of the water so I declined. I had nothing from then on. They told me once my waters had broken, it would speed the process up. By now it was about 4pm. I kept telling them my waters had broken, but they insisted they hadn't and I would KNOW when they had. Well they did at 6pm, and I was shocked and kind of shouted, there broke!I felt them!
I started pushing at about 6.30pm and it took one nipple twist to produce a strong contraction and out she popped!
Jasmin Nadia arrived at 7.42pm and was the most beautiful baby I'd ever seen, I was actually speechless for once in my life!

I wondered if the nipple stimulation really worked. We tried to get my sister to do it, but she wouldn't. LOL. Was the waterbirth relaxing?
