The UN is a pretty sick joke.  The label is pretty but the reality of what's inside the bottle is pretty sickening.

Mr. trump seems to be thinking about decreasing our funding of the UN by 285 million dollars.

It's about damned time.

The advantage of insinuations over hard arguments is that they bypass critical thought. No one can respond precisely to a charge that is utterly vague or to accusers who will envelope any reply in a poisonous fog of further insinuations. ~ David Warren, The Guardian

There was a time when there was enough freedom that it hardly mattered which brand of crooks ran government. That has not been true for a long time and that captures an important point. The more powerful the government becomes, the more people are willing to do in order to seize the prize, and the more afraid they become when someone else has control. ~ Glenn Harlan Reynolds

Corruption at the heart of the United Nations           http://www.economist.com/node/4267109

..........FOR over a year, investigators have pored over questions of mismanagement and corruption at the United Nations. On Monday August 8th, they produced their firmest—and most painful—conclusions to date. An independent commission has found that Benon Sevan, the former head of the UN's oil-for-food programme in Iraq, “corruptly benefited” from kickbacks while he was in charge. Another UN official, from the procurement office, is accused of soliciting bribes. The UN's biggest-ever humanitarian undertaking seems to have become its biggest-ever scandal.......>

the Un is a joke as long as the Un has any power at all.

Having a powerless place where countries that WANT peace can come to and have arbitrators help them negotiate solutions would be cheap, effective, and useful.

Having countries send representatives to vote on anything, anything at all, when most of the worlds countries are made up of religious loons, militant despots, communist wannabes, and human garbage is stupid beyond reckoning.

The US spies on everyone regardless of the UN.

IF, as you say, we control the UN then why on earth would we allow these nations on the human rights commission?

Afghanistan 2020
Angola 2020
Australia 2020
Belgium 2018
Brazil 2019
Burundi 2018
Chile 2020
China 2019
Côte d’Ivoire 2018
Croatia 2019
Cuba 2019
Democratic Republic of the Congo 2020
Ecuador 2018
Egypt 2019
Ethiopia 2018
Georgia 2018
Germany 2018
Hungary 2019
Iraq 2019
Japan 2019
Kenya 2018
Kyrgyzstan 2018
Mexico 2020
Mongolia 2018
Nepal 2020
Nigeria 2020
Pakistan 2020
Panama 2018
Peru 2020
Philippines 2018
Qatar 2020
Republic of Korea 2018
Rwanda 2019
Saudi Arabia 2019
Senegal

And why on earth would we continue to allow the UN to attack Israel year after year after year while saying not a peep about places like saudi arabia, or the congo?

Yes, a lot of them are sociopaths.  Most of them, however, are beholden to their campaign contributors.  And, no, it's not as simple as you're suggesting, I think.

One of the reason we're sending tanks to Egypt every damned year is that the company that makes tanks lobby's their congressman to support 'military aid' to Egypt.  "Military aid" is about government contracts to arms manufacturers... it's not about aiding anyone militarily. Thus we send tanks, aircraft and anti-ship missiles to a hostile, unstable third world rathole which, thanks to us, now has the capability of controlling the Suez Canal.

It's political bullshit that needs to stop... but it won't because each little player in the whole disgusting racket is just looking out for his/her own best interests.

Remington doesn't manufacture firearms to 'kill for profit'.  They manufacture weapons to make a profit.  If you're going to down that road, that a manufacturer is responsible for what people do with their product... where does that end?  When a drunk in a dodge kills someone, is dodge responsible?  When someone stabs someone else with a pencil is the pencil manufacturer responsible?  If someone chokes on a chicken bone, is Tyson responsible?

i was referring to war toys like bombs. the usa laid waste to korea and vietnam. take the profit out of war and there will be less wars. there was some resistance to war profiteering during WW2. congress no longer cares about the cost of wars.

Bombs are not, 'toys'.  Both Vietnam and Korea were based on flawed theories, not profit.  The theory was called, domino, you can read about it here:  Domino theory - Wikipedia

Given the tens of millions of people who died in the USSR and Ukraine as a result of communism, the powers that be of that time period had legitimate reason to want to stop it from engulfing other nations.
