Re :   Anyone there?

Hello Erv.  Not hardly anything going on here anymore.  I tend to check for messages and post some to keep the site from being closed for inactivity.  Would be nice to see the site going strong again.

Re :   Anyone there?

It has been so long since I have been to this site as we have bought and traded desktops and acquired a laptop and 2 tablets and thru all of that had lost the passwords or thought we had until this afternoon while going thru some old notebooks and a bunch of patterns we found one notebook with a lot of pass words listed. Lo and be hold this site is still up and was not expecting that! Any way will try and stay in touch more often ! Still do scrolling and 8 to 10 craft shows in the Fall season along with special orders.  Don't remember if I used a "handle" or not so will sign off with Erv.

Hello Len,

I try to check in ever 2 or 3 days and try to post so the site does not get closed down.  Some others stop in now and then to check in.

Re :   Anyone there?

Wowsa, I'm very happy that I archived the patterns onto a stick, seeing as how the links to the patterns that were offered on here are no longer operational. It's not that I needed a pattern, I just like to peruse what was offered.

Re :   Anyone there?

I enjoyed this site a lot, I check back in every so often, just to see if anyone has posted anything. I wasn't one of the most prolific posters myself, but, I posted on a lot of the topics. There has been a couple of other popular sites that have shut down completely also, one that comes to mind is the site that Rick Gray had, I believe that it was called Free Scroll Saw Patterns, or FSSP. It was a good site that had a lot of posters, but, there were some issues with having the time to oversee it properly, so it closed down. Due to that site closing, a lot of it's members migrated over to the Scroll Saw Village which made that site busier. Another site that I wish was still operational was the site that Christina Ellenbury(sp) had, it was called FPBD, or, Free Patterns by Design it wasn't operational all that long, but it was a nice group to mingle with. It's sad to see the sites close down, but, I understand it happening when people don't participate on a regular basis. Sorry for the long posting, I'll check back later to see if there's any replies to this posting.

Does anyone have a pattern of Troy Landry of swamp people? Looking for one that and if it could have King Of The Swamp around it that would be great.

Topic :   Finishing Information Site Update

Back in January, I posted a link to Steve Mickley’s woodfinishing web site.  Sometime after thatSteve decided to leave the city and move to the mountains.  He closed his site but now, since he has settledin at his new location, he has opened a new site.  Lots of finishing information at the click of a button, or shouldthat be at the tap of a key? Here is link to his new site.

Re :   hedgehog

I looked for images of a hedgehog and, I am afraid the realistic photos of a hedgehog would be
far too many cuts to resemble the fur and the other images were very cartoonish.
Sorry I couldn't help but, wanted you to know that someone saw your post and tried.
God Bless! Spirithorse

Topic :   Finishing Tips

Some of you may be familiar with Steve Mickley from Hardwood Lumber & More and also Wood Community at Wood Magazine.com.  He has provided a wealth of information onfinishing wood.  He has reworked and updated his web site with his tips.  You can find them at:

http://www.hardwoodlumberandmore.com/Articles.aspx

For you that are not familiar with his information, I recommend you take some time to look it over. His information has helped my hit and miss finishing efforts to be more hits than misses.

Topic :   First Winter Weekend

Last Thursday (Nov 21) it our temperature almost tied the record high temp for that day. (Mid 80s)
Then our the cold front came in around 5PM.  Temps dropped over 50 degrees during the night with rain, sleet , snow.  Temps stayed in the upper 20s for the day Friday.

Saturday morning was the opening of our first ever Winter Market in our town.  Icy roads, cold temps with a small promise that things would not get much worse made a fitting opening day for the "Winter" Market.  Had I not been invited to participate in the market, I might have stayed home.

We had the market in our old fire station which still had the heat hooked up in one area.  Just so happened my booth was right below the overhead heater.  This was good and this was not so good.  Good when the heater would first start up.  Then not so good as it took a long time for the heat to reach the thermostat, then when heater would shut off, cold air would blow to cool the heater down a bit.

Fourteen of twenty vendors made it and a bunch of folks came through.  Made enough sells that I will be at the Dec 14 market, but I will be set up in another area away from the heater. A lot of people were interested to know how I made my items.  One gentleman told me he could tell I made them with a computer.  Told him I did use a computer to make and print the patterns.  Then he stated you use a computer to do the cutting also.  "No sir, I guide the wood through the saw by hand, no computer cutting."  He walked away still thinking he was right.   So, for the 14th market I will probably take my saw with me.

Great day and a great weekend.
