OU E-mail
I talked to IT people yesterday and they said I wasn't in the system yet. I sent an e-mail off to Susan and apparently the Graduate school hasn't sent letters or somethign yet...who knows. I don't think it's anything we need to be concerned with yet, they seem on top of things. I'll try again closer to August!

OU E-mail
I had no idea that we could get an OU email yet. I checked with admissions a week or so ago, and I hadn't been officially admitted, so it hadn't even occured to me. (They said they probably wouldn't put me in the computer until late July, because of all the summer administration work.) So, I'm no help. But thank you for the heads up!
Have any of you registered for your OU e-mail accounts yet? I just realized I needed to make one and of course now the website is down. Have I missed any important information?

What Now?
Hi girls, sorry I am very slow responding now... since I am in a temporary place we do not have Internet at home so I am literally disconnected. We should be moving sometime in July when my husband comes back from Peru. And I know it sounds kind of crazy, but I think this is my only chance to do it, it is now or never... (too dramatic maybe, but it feels like it....) I will just try to do as much as I can this 2 years and then it is my husband turn to go back to school.. so I am taking my chances... we will see.. and thanks for letting me know we can count on you Withney, I am sure I will be asking for your help sometimes... we will need some time alone since I am planning on using my husband's brain when mine burns out So about the classes, Did she tell you anything about the schedule? 90% sure I have a Research Assistanship with the Anthro department for this Fall, 20 hours in the lab doing molecular genetics, the funny thing is .. my husband will be my direct supervisor, let's see how it works out, we will balance the power thing now, he is my boss in the lab and of course, I am the boss at home! Well, are you guys already in OK? let me know when you are and we can get together and go out for dinner, or whatever, enjoy the summer before we start the classes.
Take care and talk to you soon. Jus in case, this is my phone number: 405-326-3899.

I just now checked this feed, Alexandra you are a crazy woman!! Good luck to you with all that work, and let me know if you ever need a babysitter..I'd be more than happy to give you and your hubby a night out together occasionally. I e-mailed Susan earlier this week and found out we are taking 12 credit hours this fall and they are:

We're here!
Aw you are so sweet!! Well, no worries because Deep Deuce and Regency Towers are so close to each other! We drove the difference between them in like 5 minutes not even, and I'm really close to campus. Deep Deuce is at 2nd and Central or something like that. It's in Bricktown, you'll have to come over as soon as I get moved it! And if I need an extra pair of arms, I'll definitely let you know. You and I can carry pillows or something. ;)
Aww! I was so hopeful that we'd be neighbors. Still haven't actually located Deep Deuce, but I'll have to track it down. Let me know if you need any help with moving. That's what husbands are for. ^_^
I should have come to visit you! I was in town today doing apartment hunting of my own! I visited Regency Towers but ended up putting in my application and deposit on a one bedroom in Deep Deuce...still not to far away from you. I'm not moving to OKC until August, probably 8th or 9th.

We're here!
Wow! The move is over! Kole and I are safely ensconced in our apartment tower in OKC. I don't know when you guys move (although, I think Alexandra already is here, yes?), but let us know if you need any help. For the curious, I've posted pictures on my blog.
Also, has anyone heard from Kunal? I emailed her last week, but haven't heard from her since that first flurry of emails we all sent to one another.

What Now?
Yeah, I got a letter from OU financial aid a few days ago - glad they're on top of that.
But let me get this straight... you're getting a degree in Anthropology at the same time as you'll be getting your GC degree?!? And you're a mother, and all your family lives a billion miles away? Dang, girl... you're driven.
Kole and I will be moving next weekend. Definitely not looking forward to it, seeing as how I haven't begun packing yet...
Hi there, I have been very disconnected of everything... I moved to Norman, OK and I am in adjustment process now, so far I am liking it, maybe because I am not working! ;-) Well, I have the need for planning in advance too so I asked Susan about classes and schedules and she said she will work on our schedule at the beggining on July but she will do her best to have the classes between Tuesday and Thursday, so we can have Monday and Friday "classless" to be able to work if we want to. Since I have been admited at the Anthropology Program and I will try to pursue both (actually, Anthro will only require one more class per semester and a thesis) seems like I will work for the Anthro department (it is just easier for me since I have some contacts there and they are very supporting about my research ideas even for my Genetic counseling interests), so I will not be in the list for the assistanceship at the GC program. I did apply for Financial aid, so I filled out my Fasfa (or whatever the name is) and I got a couple of loans they are offering me. This is all I have for now.
Let's keep in contact and share the info we get... I love the idea of having all our classes in a block of 3 days and having monday and friday free for wahtever we want to do (likely work!)

You could e-mail her and double-check, it's too good to pass up really. I hope it works out. I think I'll be driving down to OKC in the next couple weekends to find me a little apartment.

What Now?
Oh, sign me up for money! I believe it works out to about $800 per month. That'll (almost) cover the rent. Boy, I hope I got on that list...

What Now?
I don't really know what happens next...I assume we'll get more information about everything in the beginning of July. I think I'm doing an assistanceship, I e-mailed Susan Hassid about one and she asked if I'd prefer wet bench of administrative and said she'd put me on "the list" and let me know about it the beginning of August. Apparently, you get work about 20 hours a week, get about 10k a year (or roughly $10/hr) and instate tuition.

What Now?
Hi all! So, I've recieved and sent back my Confirmation of Acceptance letter. Does anyone know what happens next? I'm very much a planner and like to stay on top of things, so if there's anything I can do, I want to do it. It's not like the classes are going to fill up, the way they do in undergrad, but I like having it all taken care of. Plus, I need to figure out financial aid. Who's going to do an assistanceship? Anyone know how that works? Thanks!
Sorry this took so long to get to, I admitt I forgot about this lovely message board Kelly set up and then I got hit with a tidal wave of finals and papers. So here's about Me (Whitney)....
I'm 22 currently and will be 23 in July. I just graduated on Saturday with dual degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I graduated highschool in Overland Park, Kansas (which is basically a suburb of Kansas City) but before that had lived in Bloomington, Indiana until I was sixteen and my parents moved me mid highschool. I'm single but of course have a cat named Patches who's crazy and thinks he's a dog. I spoil him rotten and that probably doesn't help him keep out of mischief.
I have an older brother who lives in Kansas City as well and my parents live about a 40 minute drive from my current apartment so moving to OKC is going to be a big adjustment but I'm really excited about it! I loooove to read all types of books, currently I'm reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer, go see movies and just kind of relax. I also like to paint but I'm not really very good at it. I also love watching House, Grey's Anatomy, and Bones...plus I'm a closet reality TV watcher.
I do a lot of volunteer work including being a Big Sister with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and work at a camp for kids with cancer. I just like to keep busy. I'm so excited about meeting you guys and I'll try to stay more on top of the message board in the future!!
This is Alexandra, I am 32, Peruvian, married and I have a 3 years old boy (Juan Jose). I moved to USA about 7.5 years ago. I have a B. Sc. in Biology and a B.A. in Education, a Professional degree in Genetics and one in Biology Education. I have moved a lot, my husband says we must have gypsie blood... we have lived in NY, AZ, IL and now OK in the last years. We met in Peru while doing our undergrad research in the same lab loooooong time ago. He works as Research Scientist at the Molecular Anthropology lab at the Stephenson Research and Technology Center in the Norman Campus, that's why we will live over there. Our son keeps us busy when we are not working, we just chase him around, he is a dare-devil, he didn't get that from me for sure... I am a awful cook, so my husband cooks at home, no one complains when I cook becuase if it comes out strange... I just say it is Peruvian and there is no much reference for local people to compare , but I know I am just not a good cook. I love to watch House and Scrubs. In my spare time, movies and popcorn and I am happy. My reading is limitated to scientific papers and kids books for now.. whenever I try to read my son will come with his books, I do not have much "me time", It is OK, I got use to it.... All our family is in Peru, so we try to go once or twice a year, it wil be harder now that JJ turns 3 since now he has to pay full fare...still we try to get some family to visit us once in a while. That's what I can say for now... I am looking forward to see you guys!

About us...
So, who the heck is Kelly? I'll tell ya! Here's the most recent photo. (Yes, I did indeed get my hair cut. Shock and awe!) I am 23, will get my BS in Biochemistry on Saturday, and I am married. Kole and I have been married two years now. No kids, but I plan to get a dog for Christmas. I have 4 fish, but they will have to stay here when we move. Kole has his Master's in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and will be working while I finish school at OU. We both went to Angelo State University, in San Angelo, Texas, which is where we currently live. Both of our families are here, so it kinda sucks to move away. I keep a weblog, which is mostly up-to-date, but you won't be able to see any old posts. I also play World of Warcraft, read all kinds of books, and cook like crazy. I have more chocolate chip cookie recipes than anyone else I know. Oh, and addicted to House and Grey's Anatomy. The end!

Apartment Hunting
Okay, so this is the apartment that my husband and I are going to stay at: Regency Towers. We've already put in a deposit and everything... apparently, we'll be living on the 18th floor. Talk about high living!
Another great website is www.apartmentratings.com. I have found them to have very up-to-date ratings and good reviews.
