Ok, I think the word is pretty much out on the gophones, but we can still help each other out on tips and tutorials here. If you have any questions about how to get a gophone or how to use, please post here and I will do my best to help.
Hopefully all dreadheads who can afford it will buy a phone and text this tuesday. The archies and wordnerds have bought huge lots to give out at watch parties.
Do we want to look into buying a group of phones? Please share your ideas!

If someone has lots of money, or can gather enough donations, they could buy a bunch of gophones and have a watch party where everyone texts all together.
(ok, i stole that one from the archies, who got a "donation" of $1200 to do this)

yea I know, we DO need to try and get something like this going too.. I'd be willing but I'm pretty new to the town I live in and don't know enough people to have a watch party.. I'll help in anyway I can if anyone knows enough people to have a watch party! I know they have one in rockwall.. maybe we can get them some extra phones!

Why are the Gophones good to use?
Texting has a BIG advantage over redialing, you don't have to worry about busy signals when you text and it's possible to send 10-20 texts at once. I'm able to send 10 texts and as the phone sends the texts (it does it one at a time so it takes a few minutes, but they do not all have to be entered manually) so during that little big of lag time I'm also redialing on 3 different phones! So I was able to get a LOT more votes in last week (it was my first time using my gophone).
Now this is only needed for people who do not have AT&T, if you already have att then you're set to go, just need unlimited texting (costs $20 for a month).
If you get phone and don't know how to do the texting ask here and I or (someone who is better at explaining) can try to help. They also have tutorials on it at daydreamingboy.com just go to "support jason"
This is also if you can afford it, it will cost you anywhere from $25-$40 dollars so don't feel bad if you'd rather not buy one. It's just another way to get more votes if possible :)

FYI--I know that in 2006, there was a push to buy the Go Phones, use them to vote, and then donate them to Women's Shelters.
Yeah, that was my idea, I thought maybe people wouldn't buy them if they already had a different provider and wouldn' t know what to do with them after AI. I think we should do the donation in Jasons name. I got my phone today.

I have AT&T, but the cell service is through Cingular. Anyone know if texts on my cell would be free since I have AT&T?
You probably need to contact your at&t or cingular rep.. if you have texts through at&t you should just need to get unlimited texts set up, it's 19.95 for the month I believe, and that will last you the rest of the season.
