Hello, everyone!  If you text from an AT&T Wireless phone, the following may help you maximize your voting time for Jason.

First, you have to determine how many contacts you can message at one time from your phone.  I know that I can message up to 20 contacts at once from my RAZR.  So I set up contacts numbered A1 - A20 and made the contact number within each Jason's number for the week.  For example, if Jason performs first, the contact number would be 5701.  (IMPORTANT:  You'll have to edit your contact lists every week to reflect Jason's number for that week.  As soon as you know his number, start editing so you'll be ready when voting opens.)  Do this for all contacts A1 - A20.  I also setup 20 additional contacts numbered B1 - B20 and did the same thing.

Then I created a group list for each of these contact lists....one group for contacts A1 - A20, named AI, the other for BI - B20, named AII.

Just before voting opens, I send a text message with the word "Vote", of course, to group AI and then another to group AII.  The two messages should be saved in your outbox.  When it's time to start voting, all you have to do is go to your outbox and resend each message over and over again, bouncing back and forth between the two.  Every time I resend each message, I'm casting a total of 20 votes for Jason.  You only have to resend 250 times to cast 5000 votes.  I'm probably casting more than 5000 actually....there is no telling how many times I hit that resend button on any given voting night.......

good tips :) I got the go phone but it doesn't seem to group like that, I have to select the #'s from my address book, and the entire address book would be jason's text #. I can send 10 at a time that way, and there's enough lag while it sends them for me to get several calls in through my other cells and land line.

Singin,

I'm worried because several people have said that mass texting is detected by AI and thrown out. This info came from Soul patrollers from Season 5. They suggested just doing 1 text at a time to be sure that it's counted.

This is what the AI site says:

A weekly monitoring procedure will be in place to prevent individuals from unfairly influencing the outcome of the voting by generating significant blocks of votes using technical enhancements. The producers reserve the right to remove any identified 'power dialing' votes. Note that this applies to both toll-free and Text Messaging votes

Now, I'm not sure exactly what to do but I'm leaning on just sending one text at a time.

What does everyone think??? I'd hate to think that my text votes were thrown out. :(

Yeah, I just finished reading a thread that seemed pretty informed about this...  That each block of 20 (for ex) votes actually only counts as one or *not at all!*.  (My hunch is they do count once...just makes sense...but who knows.)  The point they made was that since this seems to be the case, doing 1 at a time takes less time for your phone (in sending, etc)...

I'll be sending one at a time.  Just to be on the safe side.

People, we have a LEG UP on the competition...think about it: if THEY"RE sending multiples (batches of 10 or 20) and only ONE of their votes COUNTS for every batch that's sent, while we're sending one by one, our vote totals will be maximized,  while they'll get 1 vote for every 20.  There are alot of Soul Patrollers, scattered through the various fangroups, so most groups are probably already aware of the problems with multiple text voting (there was a post in Jason's A.I. folder this past week, to that effect from a Cookie fan).  But not everyone in the Soul Patrol was aware of some of this information.  Why throw away a possible ADVANTAGE, that we can utilize it for Jason?   

Which would you choose?

Sending the votes one at a time ENSURES they will be counted.  There are no "shortcuts".  A.I. planned it that way.  You can amass a considerable vote total sending one by one. 

Send 'em one at a time, and they'll ALL count for Jason in the end.  Isn't that what we're after?

If you're quick, it is :)...I text holding my RAZR in my right hand.  With my left I hit redial on the landline speakerphone.  Takes a few minutes to get accustomed to, but it works.  I'm not the most coordinated of people and still manage to get 1 phone vote in for every 2 or three texts.

How does everyone else "double vote"?  Be interested to hear how other handle it.

Last week was the first week I used Dial Idol so was voting with mine and my hubbies cell phones as well.  It was tricky at first but I eventually got a rythm going by using the inside nuckle and pad of each thumb to hit the send and end keys..LOL.  My husband was looking at me like I was crazy..haha.  Too bad I have Sprint and get constant busy signals or I would have been rocking the vote last week.  It didn't stop me from trying though and I was able to get in some extra votes.

Hi!
I have a question about something that I read regarding text votes and votes from cell phones.

Someone suggested that if you are on the East Coast and you vote from 9-11pm, when you're done you can change your time zone on your cell or Go phone and then vote CST, MT, and PT for a total of 5 hours of voting.

I want to know if this is true (I thought the votes would register to your cell phone # which would identify your time zone) and if it is true, how do you reset the time zone? Do you have to remove the battery and re-set all your phones settings, or what?
Thanks to anyone who knows about this and would post the answers.

I always thought that AI could tell by your area code.  Even though you change the time on your phone that doesn't change the area it's coming from.  Not sure though.
