Ethlinn


Ethlinn was the daughter of Balor, King of the Fomorians of the Irish magical legends. She being his only child, Balor had her imprisoned in a tower since a Druid had informed him that a grandson would kill him. Ethlinn was guarded by twelve women whom Balor order not to tell his daughter there was such a thing as men. Belor stole a magic cow from Kian, who in revenge got access to Ethlinn disguised as a woman. They had three children whom Balor ordered drown. However one fell from the napkin in which they were carried to their doom. He was rescued by the druidess Birog and taken to his father, Kian. This child became Lugh, the great sun-god, and eventually fulfilled the prophecy of killing his grandfather. A.G.H.
