Cord and knot magick have been used for ages. Druids used to tie cords around their waists in various colors identifying their craft specialty, and the number of knots was indicative of their rank. In Cord magick, the spells are simply prepared ahead of time, and then used as needed. Each knot is then untied releasing the power entrapped in the cord over nine consecutive days. These work great when you need a bit of quick magick.

Find a piece of colored cord that is nine feet long and prepare it in advance. Consecrate the cord, saying this as you do so: Here do I present to the Lord and Lady, my cord for your blessing. That I may ever use it in your service. (You can later use the cord as a tie for your ritual robe, if you wish. If infused with a spell, you can keep it on your person, but this is not mandatory.)
Now your cord must be programmed for a specific purpose such as healing or as a magickal storage system for use in any number of things in the future. First, hold your cord tightly, and drive your energy force into it, saying what it is you desire, such as "Power is my wish" or "Prosperity is my desire" or something similar. (It can be anything: power, love, healing etc) While repeating the words over and over, visualize energy from the cosmos going in through your left hand and down through your torso, growing and becoming larger and stronger. Now see it flowing along your right arm and down into your right hand. Now visualize it coming out of your right hand (projection hand) and going into the cord and then flowing all along it, electrifying it. Focus on it carefully and fill your cord with your own magickal presence. If you want the cord to be versatile, "Power" is a good thing to voice, while holding your cord. And then when you feel the time is right, tie your first knot on one end of the cord and say.....BY KNOT OF ONE, THE SPELL'S BEGUN, repeating it over and over. Next return to your chant of POWER (Power is my wish.) over and over.
When the time again feels right, tie another knot on theother end and say.....BY KNOT OF TWO, I WILL THIS TRUE
Remember to alternate your knots from one end to the other, moving towards the center. The center knot will be your last one. Repeat this process until you have alternately tied all nine knots, using these phrases or make up your own:
After the last knot is tied, repeat your purpose once more.
Now when you feel the need to use the cord, it must be done in this manner. If you programmed it to assist you in healing someone, then for nine consecutive days you will untie one knot each day. Untie them as you tied them, from first one end and then the other , alternating until you reach the ninth knot. Before you untie the last knot, concentrate intensely on the purpose of the cord. Focus and pay special attention to the desired outcome. Then release the knot and closing your eyes, repeat your desire once more. You can keep the cord on your person for a while after, until the power of the cord has been recognized. Then you may return it to your magickal tool area or whereever your workspace is.

Spell to Change Your Eye Color

Need: 1 Candle (at least) in the color you want to change your eyes to and a Pentacle

Light the candle(s) and sit in front of it/them and chant this 3 or more times:

"1,2,3, change for me,
1,2,3 (color you have now) to (new color) let me see."

Take a deep cleansing breath while you envision yourself with the new eye color, then chant this 3 or more times:

"By the power of three, let it be seen."

Again visualize your eyes changing from their original color to the new color, then check the mirror.

Note: This spell may only last a day or so if only using one candle. And the color of the candle will be the new eye color!

Spell for Clear Skin

What you need: 2 apples, a knife.

Get an apple and cut it in half horizontally across the middle. Once you cut it you will see a five pointed star.

Rub one half of the apple over your face or the affected area. Say this:

"Apple, sacred fruit of the Goddess, With this gift, I do caress
The pimple that brought me shame. I banish this zit in your name."

Get another apple and cut it vertically from top to bottom. Rub one half of this over your face or affected area as well. Say this:

"I love and accept myself as I am today. Clear skin I summon to come my way. By My Will so Mote It Be Three times three times three."

Bury the first apple by a tree, bush or flower that is OUTSIDE. Bury the second apple by water. If you can't find a place like this, just bury it anywhere and pour water over it.

I shall light this candle for the Mother and write by the flame.
Any blocks I face in my writing shall be lifted by the lighting of this candle.
So mote it be!"

Replace the candle on the altar and close the circle.

Later, if writer's block ever hits, light the candle for guidance and inspiration.

Celtic Cross Spell

Making the sign of the cross acts as a protective spell, even for non-Christians, because it uses the powers of the four elements to act as a shield and barrier.
As a variation of this gesture, you can draw a Celtic cross over your solar plexus—bad energy often goes straight to the stomach—when you have to deal with hostile people.
To effect the spell, draw your fingers across your upper and lower abdomen to make an equal-armed cross. Repeat this motion several times, while visualizing a shield of protective energy building in front of you.
Then, rub your palm around the area in a circular motion until you feel more relaxed.

If you have to confront negativity on a regular basis, hang a Celtic cross on a very long cord, and wear it beneath your shirt, positioned about your navel.

Charm To Ease Childbirth

Spell for easy childbirth: (Dorothy Morrison)

Work this spell every morning for a week before your delivery date. Annoint a white candle with vegetable oil and roll it in some powdered lavender. Light the candle and sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Place both hands on your belly, saying:

"Mother Goddess, hold my hand,
And stay with me throughout this time. Cradle me in your loving arms,
and talk to me of nature's rhyme
Ease the pains of labor
when The time comes for this baby's birth;
Comfort me and guide me
through It's deliverance onto Earth, And grant that labor not be long,
And that this baby's born with ease, And that our lives be filled with laughter.
Thank you, Mother. Blessed be!"

. Burn the candle for 15 minutes every day. On the 7th day, let the candle burn down completely. Place the wick and melted wax (if any) in the centre of a piece of blue cloth 6
inches square and sprinkle it with lavender. Mark a pentagram over the cloth with your finger and tie it closed with a piece of yellow ribbon. Keep the pouch with you during labor and delivery.

Cauldron Spirit

Many Witches pour a bit of ordinary surgical spirit [rubbing alcohol]
Into their cast-iron cauldrons and light it by carefully dropping in
A lit match. This is often done as part of a healing rituals,
Invocations to the elemental spirit of Fire, scrying divinations,
Sabbat fire festivals, and various working rituals.

The sight of the cauldron blazing with flames can be very magickal
And mesmerizing, and when the alcohol has been steeped in aromatic
Herbs, a sweet, but gentle, incense like fragrance is produced.

To make an herbal cauldron spirit, put into a glass bottle a small
Bunch of any of all of the following: fresh lavender flowers and
Leaves, fresh mint leaves, fresh rosemary flowers and leaves, or
Fresh thyme flowers and leaves. Fill the bottle to the top with the
Alcohol; cap it tightly, and then give it a good shake. Keep it in a
Cool dry place for thirteen days, shaking it twice daily [every
Sunrise and every moonrise]. Strain through a double thickness of
Muslin into a clear bottle, cap tightly, and store away from heat or
Flame. Cauldron spirit will keep indefinitely

Conjuring the Muse

Color of the day: Blue
Incense of the day: Ivy

A muse can be a tricky thing to conjure when you need one. Try to summon
some inspiration from yours with a few simple actions. First, clean your
altar or sacred space. It’s hard to be inspired when there is dust and
excess clutter all over. Light your altar candles and a golden (or
yellow) candle for inspiration. Invite your muse to visit you and sit in
reflection for a few minutes, watching the flames flicker and dance.
Then, go do something relaxing. Trust that your subconscious is working,
and that when you return to your work you’ll be newly energized and

A Cleansing Rain Spell

Color of the day: Purple
Incense of the day: Cypress

Let the summer rain help you remove negativity from your life. When rain
is forecast, gather these items you’ll need for this spell: an
earthenware dish or a terra cotta flowerpot saucer, and some soil. As
the rain approaches, fill the saucer with soil and pack it firmly. While
thinking of your problem write a word or two describing it in the soil
using your finger. Or using a stick draw a simple outline in the soil
depicting your issue. When the rain begins to fall, place the dish of
soil outdoors. After the rain stops, the image you drew in the soil
should be faded. Sprinkle the soil upon the ground as a sign of thanks
and let Mother Earth aid you in solving your problem.

Crystal Healing Spell

Color of the day: Blue
Incense of the day: Rue

Quartz crystal has long been used in many cultures for healing a
variety of illnesses, as well as for protection. In Scotland, round or
oval-shaped amulets of rock crystal were used as protective charms and
as healing agents. These rock-crystal objects were often held in the
possession of certain families, who kept them safe over many centuries.
When someone needed the use of the stone, it was dipped into a silver
vessel of sacred water, which the person was then given to drink. One of
the last known instances of this type of charm was in the early 1800s,
when a clan chief dipped the stone in a bowl of water gathered from a
fairy spring. Here is a crystal spell for healing:

Crystal gathered from
Deep in the Earth,
Bring me wellness,
Luck and health.
May your brilliant light Infuse my soul,
Transform this water and Make me whole.

Cutting Away the Fearsome Foe

Color of the day: White
Incense of the day: Ylang-ylang

In Tibet on this day, the monks performed an ancient ritual to eliminate
negative forces and hindrances. Dressed in yellow robes, they used vocal
and instrumental sounds to invoke creative awareness. Begin this ritual
by allowing yourself to vocalize freely whatever sounds come forth,
melodious or dissonant. Play music that inspires you to dance as you
cast a circle, sprinkling flower petals or potpourri thrice around.
Scent a basin of warm water with sandalwood oil and wash your feet. Dry
them off well and rub them with a little olive oil. Using a henna paste,
paint them artfully with spirals, circles, and other symbols. When you
are ready, begin your ritual dance, improvising movement that you feel
expresses the release of dark energy as you move counter-clockwise
within your sacred circle. Then change direction and dance sunwise,
pulling in toward your solar plexus feelings of joy and positivity as
you chant a mantra of purification, “Om mani padme hum,” and cut away
the fearsome foe!

Clear-seeing Spell

Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Ivy

It’s difficult to see things clearly. Often our own emotions get in the
way of looking objectively at a problem or decision. Make your own charm
to use when you need some objectivity. Take a quartz crystal and cleanse
it in the smoke of some frankincense incense, then rub it with some
mugwort. Hold it in your hands and impress upon it your desire to see
things objectively, with a clear head and clear vision. Leave the
crystal where it can catch the moonlight for the night and then the
day’s sunlight. Carry it with you. To use, simply hold it and focus on
seeing things clearly.

Crystal Clearing

Color of the day: Yellow
Incense of the day: Lavender

Crystals are another precious gift of Mother Earth. It is not
necessary to have a new crystal for every purpose or working. Crystals
can be reprogrammed to new uses with just a bit of forethought and
planning. When a particular working for which you have charged a crystal
is completed, under a waning Moon, collect up the crystals no longer in
use and thank them for their energy in your working. Clear them by first
smudging them with sage and cedar smoke and then cleansing them in a
salt water bath followed by a good rinsing in clear, running water.
Place the cleared crystals in a windowsill where they can receive light
from the Moon as she passes through her cycle. After a full Moon cycle,
the crystals are once more ready to be charged with a new purpose and a
new working.

Courage to Seek Help Spell

Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Honeysuckle

We all suffer from feeling sad, and while we can boost ourselves through
short down-periods, persistent depression needs medical treatment and
emotional support. When you’re so sad you know you’re going to need
help, give yourself the boost you need to ask. Take a bath scented with
mints, and have a cinnamon incense or cinnamon-scented candle burning
while you take the bath. Inhale it, and allow yourself to feel its
energizing quality. After you’ve gotten out and dried off, don some red
clothing; a red shirt will do just fine. It’s important you be
comfortable and feel you look good. Add a fresh energizing cologne. Look
at yourself in the mirror, and see yourself as healthy, and a normal
person reaching out with a normal need. Then pick up the phone and call
a friend or a medical facility and ask for help.

Celebrating Fathers

Color of the day: Gold
Incense of the day: Almond

Let’s hear it for Dads everywhere! Today, let’s celebrate our men and
all their wonderful compassionate qualities with a Pagan blessing for
the fathers in your life, or to celebrate your own fatherhood. Keep up
the good work, for you hold the future in your strong and caring arms.

Fatherhood is a sacred
And joyous path,
My child/ren and I will enjoy
A bond that lasts.
May the gods grant me
Wisdom, strength,
Humor, and love.
Illuminate my family’s days
Like the Sun up above.

Children Blessing

Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Marjoram

The Matralia is the festival of the Italian goddess of the dawn, Mater
Matuta. This day was for the safe birth and happiness of all children.
Women traveled to the temple with their sister’s children and prayed for
their welfare. This would be a perfect day to work a charm for the
happiness and health of the children of your friends and relatives who
bless your life. List the names of these beloved children on a piece of
paper. Then set a white candle in a holder on top of the paper. Light
the candle and focus on the children. See them happy, healthy and
strong. When you are ready, read the charm.

Mater Matuta,
Watch over these little ones I pray.
Make them grow both strong
And true, gaining wisdom
Every day.

In Celebration of Caffeinia

Color of the day: Purple
Incense of the day: Carnation

Ah, the blessed goddess Caffeinia, a grand lady whose blessing is
required by many to get through the day. Today, let your morning brew,
whether it is coffee or tea, be an act of blessing and thanksgiving. As
you fill your pot, take a few moments to meditate over the water. Focus
your intentions for the day into the flowing, clear water. Think about
what you wish to accomplish, how you wish to feel, how you want the day
to flow, how you want to be viewed as you move through your day. Brew
your beverage. Take the time to savor your drink, drinking in once more
all the intentions you set forth as you prepared the brew. Now go forth
and greet your day with your energy focused for the positive
accomplishments ahead.

Chant to the Goddess

Color of the day: Coral
Incense of the day: Violet

The world is in bloom, and the energies of the earth goddesses are alive
at this very magical time of year. Step into a secluded natural place
and breathe seven times into your heart chakra. Open yourself fully to
the beauty and the power of nature in its many guises and
manifestations. Speak or sing aloud this invocation of the divine
feminine in her magical flowering in spring:

Flower-garland of the earth
Flower-garland of the sea
You are the bounty of the earth
You are the treasure of the ocean
Flower-garland of the stars
Flower-garland of the skies
You are the eye of morning
You are the Sun of creation
I call to you,
In your flowering
Queen-Maiden of compassion
For you are
The vessel of fullness
And you are
The cup of wisdom.
As I revel in your beauty
May I drink
From your cauldron
For you are the fulfillment
Of all the world’s desire.

Charm for Beauty

Color of the day: Silver
Incense of the day: Neroli

Today’s waning Moon in Aquarius is a perfect day for this beauty spell. The waning Moon, visible in the early hours of the morning, will help you let go of negative attitudes you have about your appearance. Choose a safe place outdoors where you can perform this spell. Prepare a vial of three drops of ylang-ylang mixed with almond or vegetable oil. In the pre-dawn hours, go to your safe place and invoke the goddess Flora. Ask her for the blessings of beauty and pleasure. Dip your fingertip in the vial and trace a flower on your forehead. Say: “The earth awakens to a new day, so my body.” Repeat this, drawing an oil-soaked finger on every part of your body that you formerly felt badly about. Pour the remaining oil onto the ground, visualizing your old feelings about yourself sinking into the earth.

Clearing the Air Charm

Color of the day: Black
Incense of the day: Sandalwood

Sometimes family members just need to clear the air so we can move on
and create healthier, happier relationships. To clear the energy in your
home today, clear the air—literally. To make a cleansing spray you can
use for several months, add eight to ten drops of the essential oil of
orange or lemon to half a cup of distilled water in a dark glass bottle
with spray top. Invert the bottle three times to mix the ingredients.
Hold the bottle while the rest of the family stands around you, everyone
touching a hand or shoulder so that you are all connected. Remind them
of the feelings of love, comfort, and laughter that you have shared.
Have everyone imagine your family bonds as strong and joyful. Then send
that energy into the bottle. Whenever you feel the need to clear the
air, spray this around and loving energy will fill your home.

Cloud Gazing Inspiration

Color of the day: Green
Incense of the day: Jasmine

Have you ever picked out images from clouds? Cloud gazing can be
great fun, but have you ever used it for divination? Like water and
fire, clouds can be a wonderful canvas for the manifestation of divine
inspiration. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Form a clear
question and hold that until you feel it fill your being, then blow the
question out into the universe with your breath. Open your eyes and pick
out three to five images from the clouds above. If you can hold the
intent longer without your mind wandering, feel free to pick out more
images. When you are done cloud gazing, put all the images together to
find the pattern they share. What story do they tell you about your

Cider and Spice Protection Spell

Color of the day: Ivory
Incense of the day: Clary sage

In a small saucepan combine one cup of cider, one stick of cinnamon, and
nine whole cloves. Heat until the mixture is warm and fragrant. Remove
from the heat, let cool slightly, and stir clockwise while saying:
“Cider strengthen me, cinnamon protect me, clove cleanse me.” Pour the
potion into an earthenware bowl. After dark, pour the mixture around the
garden or home. Speak this charm:

I have brewed this potion With my hand,
To protect my home
And my land.
No dark spirits
Shall dwell in this place,
For I have blessed
Every crevice and space.
Any friend who comes,
Night or day,
Shall be welcomed
To sit and stay.
But no foe
Shall darken my door,
Today, tomorrow,
Or forever more.

When you’ve finished, press the cinnamon stick and cloves into the earth.

The Call of Wild Hunt
Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Lilac
On windy moonlit autumn nights, when clouds scud across the sky, the
Wild Hunt can be heard. The Wild Hunt is a ghostly cavalcade of spirits,
led by the lord of the shadows as they ride from the otherworld to carry
back the souls of the newly departed. As recently as the mid-twentieth
century this phenomenon was reported in England. If you should be alone
on such a night, light a candle and intone the following words:
Riding on the night wind, Free and unreined
The riders of the Wild Hunt Ride untamed.
The hunting horn
Sounds its blast,
A hundred stallions
Thunder past,
Stars gather
In their flowing manes.
As the door to the
Otherworld opens again,
Carrying spirits
Of those who’ve come before,
And those whispered about In secret lore,
The huntsmen rush
Through the shadow of trees,
Leaving their message
On the autumn breeze.
They turn the cosmic
Wheel of fate,
For they are the keepers
Of the gate.
