This is where any oils or incenses beginning with the letter A will go.

Aphrodite's Oil
For Men: This oil stimulates desire and prowess. In a favorite bottle or jar, ideally red or pink, mix together the following recipe with a silver spoon:
5 drops Rosemary oil
5 drops Patchouli oil
10 drops Yohimbe extract (available at most herbalists and metaphysical stores)
A pinch powdered ginsing root
2 Tablespoons Sesame oil
Use the oil on your fingers to anoint candles or to massage your lover's body. For a chant or spell, you should speak lovingly to the object of your affection while you rub the magic massage oil into his skin.
For Women: Follow the same instructions but substitute the ginsing and yohimbe, which are greatly stimulating to men, with pinches of saffron and ground dong quai (also known as angelica root), long honored in the orient as a tonic for females.

Air Oil (Elemental)
Once again, the proportions listed here are the suggested ones.  If you wish to deviate fromt hese, simply keep in mind that the first ingredient olisted should generally constitute the main scent.  Each succeeding ingredient should be added in consecutively smaller amounts.
  • Add these essential oils to 1/8 cup of a base oil
  • visualize as you mix and smell
  • for best results, don't use synthetics

Air Oil

5 drops Lavender
3 drops Sandalwood
1 drop Neroli

Wear to invoke the powers of Air and to promote clear thinking, for travel spells, and to overcome addictions.

Apricot Oil
This oil, pressed from apricot kernels, is aphrodisiac in nature.  It is used as a base for mixing true essential oils but does not have an apricot-like scent.
Amber Oil
True amber oil is created from lesser-quality amber, which is fossilized pin resin millions of years old.  It has a camphor-like odor with touches of pine scents, and is rarely available.
Most amber oils on the market today seem to be artificial ambergris mistures.
It is used in love and healing mixtures.
(Ferula asafoetida)
This native of Afghanistan and Eastern Iran has a nauseating odor to which the frequent user eventually becomes accustomed, some claim.  Even so, I don't keep asafoetida in my home, let alone add it to protective or exorcistic incenses.
If you wish, substitute tobacco, valerian root or any of the herbs listed under these headings (protection, exorcism).  Rather unbelievably, asafoetida is used in Indian cooking.
This scent, the product of sperm whales, was orignally (and rarely) found washed up on beaches.  It was heavily used in magical and cosmetic perfumery.  Early Arabs used it in cooking.  Once the origins of ambergris were discovered, countless whales were killed to collect this precious substance.
It has long been used in aphrodisiac-type oils and perfumes.  Its odor is usually described as musty, musky and earthy.
True ambergris is best avoided in these ecologically minded times.  Many whale species are nearly extinct.  Its exorbitant price is another reason for leaving it to the top perfumery companies to use in compounding perfumes (if it is used at all).
Artificial ambergris or ambergris compounds are widely available, and are usually sold simply as "ambergris."
If you can't find even artificial ambergris oil, try substituting the following bouquet, or compound, which approximates true amberis:
Ambergris Bouquet
Cypress Oil
Patchouly Oil (a few drops)
