did you know....

America's first bona fide July fourth celebration occurred? Well, the first official, state festivities intended to celebrate America's independence from Great Britain took place in 1781 in the form of a dinner between Rhode Island militiamen and officers from the French military!

Bristol,  Rhode Island has commemorated this fact ever since 1785, with their annual Independence Day festivities.

 THE FIRST JULY 4TH

The most important facts are the details of the first Fourth of July in 1776, which is celebrated because it was a ratification of the declaration through the second continental congress (the declaration was PASSED on July 2). Though the date is now celebrated with fireworks, which often connote famous warfare or battles in other such national celebrations, the events of July 4 were quite bland for something that is often celebrated today by people wearing cans of beer in their hats.

RE:SIGN IN FOR JULY
(Date Posted:07/01/2010 12:07 AM)

I cannot believe it is July already.

As boring as my life is time still flies.

Yes, Marcia is a complete idiot.  She was being

very congenial all last week with Leigh...I suppose

thinking that he would give in to her request.

Especially since the 4th is her birthday.  But somehow

she just does not see the hatred that my brother has

for this jerk, or the fact that his history is that of an

abuser.  Even if he has not done it to children.  If he

were to do something to Marcia and the boys were to

witness it, it can be so damaging.  And just because

he hasn't yet does not mean that he won't.  She thinks

it is so ridiculous, that he would never hurt her or the

boys.  I bet his first wife and family thought that too.

She would agree that she would always be present,

that the boys would never be alone with him.  But that

just does not cut it.  I do not know how this will end.

Marcia intends to marry him asap, so I do not see how

they are going to work this out in ant way pleasant.  I think

she could walk away from the boys if not for what her

family would think of her.

Poor Shogun, he just does not understand what is expected

of him.  He will learn with time.  Maybe you need to give him

a daily talking to Dorothy, if it works that well, lol.  My mom

had cataracts removed from both her eyes and it was a piece

of cake.  So much simpler with the lasers.  Not at all what

she expected.  She did not think she would be awake for

it and was sure that it would hurt.  But she was and she

could not even feel the lasers.  All went well and healing

was quick and no complications.

Mary Ann, I hope you can get something to make things

more comfortable for you.  We are having the most

lovely low 70's weather...thru' Fri.  Then Sat and Sun

they are saying 88 degrees and I'll bet humid.  WIll make

sure the AC is on for the weekend.

Anyone have any plans for the 4th?  Mom is going to

ask Suz and her family if they want to cook out.

I voted for brats on the grill.  I cannot believe it is

July already and I have not had one yet this summer.

I am over due.  I need a brat fix, lol.

Chat with you all tomorrow.

Hugs,

RE:SIGN IN FOR JULY
(Date Posted:07/01/2010 9:48 AM)

Happy Canada Day
and welcome to July!

Yesterday I got my hair colored.   It's funny how I use the same product all the time, but it's often just a bit different.  This time the color is really nice, a bit darker than usual ~ until it starts to fade, anyway.  It IS short, but the shape is good, so I'm not complaining.

We are having someone come out to work on the sprinkler heads today ~ it's too hard for Mike to do, and I wouldn't have a clue.  After he leaves, we'll go out for dinner.  It's been WEEKS!

Lisa comes tomorrow to play with Chrystie and meet Shogun ~ oh, and clean the house.     Sooo, I likely won't be online until later.

Mary Ann, thanks for keeping me updated on the Cataract Surgery.  Everyone says it's a piece of cake (relatively) and I will surely love being able to see normally again, but anything "medical" scares me, as you know.

I know it isn't funny, but "The dog ate my glasses" does make me laugh.  I'm SO glad they could fix them like new for you!  How wonderful!

Thanks for explaining TAR.  When I first read it, I read that you had TAR in your eye.  (Don't ask me how I got that out of what you said ~ lol)

Sounds like a great birthday party for Roy!   How fun!

Oh, I hope you can at least get the room AC for your bedroom!  Lord how I wish I could help you.   I had thought the problem was the cost of running the AC, and didn't realize that you had AC but it was now 'dead'.   I don't know how I get so confused about what I read.  It's beginning to scare me ~ am I ready for the Nut House?   Prob'ly.  lol

Lou Ann, I agree ~ half the year has gone, where did it go?!

I really hope Leigh can just get the money and get away from Crazy Marcia altogether.   What a total ditz!  The sad thing is that logic would say the courts would demand she pay for child support and give him the proceeds from the house to make up for the first year.  (He's going to have to fight for support in subsequesnt years, I fear).  Logic often has nothing to do with what the Courts do, however.   My fingers and toes are crossed for him and the boys.

Brats on the grill sound like perfect 4th of July fare!    We're grilling steaks on Sunday cuz we haven't done that very much this year, and then I think on Monday we'll have franks and beans.

I have to fight with the Insurance today about the Dental Insurance.  What a pain in the tush ~ as you all well know.   My insurance paid (very little) and we pay monthly for a supplemental for me on Mike's Dental Insurance.  They pre-approved my periodontal (up to their not-very-large maximum), and now they haven't paid it.   When I went 'digging', it's because they need the Dr's office to submit what my "other" insurance paid.  Well, hey.  My "other" insurance is Met Life, just like his.   Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing?   'Tis a pain.
I guess if that's the worse thing that I have to deal with, I can't complain.

Have a fabulous day all!

Thank you, Dorothy, for getting the opening page up and running.  Thank you to Barb from Canada for making it and sharing it!  It's gorgeous!

Hi Lou Ann!  It is hard to believe that time flies even though our lives seem to stand still and are boring.  I can't believe june is gone, mostly because it was so cool.  Felt like Spring.  I think everyone here will agree with you that Marcia is an idiot.  A complete idiot!  I hope that she just walks away from the boys.  That would be hard for them, but not as hard as other things could be.  I think it's the safest thing.  I have no idea what we will do as far as cookouts go but I want one.  I need a smores fix!  We've had two fire pits, and I haven't had any smores.  What a shame.  Almost a waste of firewood.  LOL.  I hope that you get your bratwurst!

Hi Dorothy!  Glad that your hair color is really nice!  Hurray that you are going out to dinner!  So Lisa gets to meet Shogun.  What fun!  I hope that she doesn't slight Chrystie.  Franks and beans sounds great!  I haven't had that in ages, and I just happen to have both on hand.  Yeee haw!  Thanks for the idea.  Good luck with your insurance crap.  I hope that you have a bottle of aspirin and liquor handy.  LOL.

Dave got his NIMBY( Not In My BackYard) up.  It has been a lot of work, but it was very gratifying to watch our electric meter turn backwards!  The actual numbers did not turn backwards but the arrow on the meter did.  The power company will come change out the meter in their own due time.  The day that they put it up we had lots of wind, and today is dead CALM out there, hardly a breeze.  Oh well.
NIMBY.jpg picture by annnieM_2007

We went to the concert in the park last night at Rapid City.  The first piece featured the french horns and there were seven of them and my daughter was principal horn.  It was quite good, if I do say so myself.  It was a good concert and full of patriotic music, with one case that had bits of each branch of the services song, and each person in the audience who served either the navy, Marines, army, etc., stood during their song and we all clapped.  It was very moving to see 90 year old men standing and being recognized by the teenagers in the crowd.  It was good!  Afterwards we went to Zarah's favorite ice cream shop and got treats.  I had a coconut ice cream cone.  It was 80° out yet at 9:30 PM, so I could hardly keep up with it as it melted.  I ended up trading my messy cone for Dave's that he had under control.  It was a good evening!

My sister emailed and wants to know if she can hitch a ride to the 4th of July concert and fireworks, and that means I have a built in helper so I can go.  Then if I have trouble in the bathroom, pulling my pants up, she will be there to help.  We may have a cook out on either the fourth or Monday.  I may get my smores!  Wishing everyone who pops in a wonderful 4th of July weekend!  Hugs,

RE:SIGN IN FOR JULY
(Date Posted: 07/01/2010 08:52 AM)

Hi there...

I see that great minds think alike...I can't believe it I looked into all my Canada folder's but this tag came out on top all the time!!! Yippee...

annnieM thought so too...

Thank you Dorothy for the 'Flawlessly' done opening page!!!

How awesome it's Beautiful, Informative, and fun all in one...

Thank you Barb/From Canada for making & sharing it...

You gals are the best...I'm afraid something happened to my borders on the way to posting them I know not what...It's taken me all day to try to get my new post for July done!!! Yikes!!!

Lou Ann...

Hi there, you can't believe it's July & I couldn't wait until July 1st. came around seeing I had only $2.00 in my bank account!!! Today I have money but not for long I will start paying out for bills tonight or tomorrow...I think I'll wait for tomorrow morning and give myself a break...I would also like to stare at the amount for awhile before I deplete it, which I will do once I start on the bills and this month I think I will have to pay for my 'trash pick-up' and that's another $60+ oh my...

Marcia is only congenial when it's to her benefit!!! She thinks these things out ahead of time remember this quote??? "Beware the Ides Of March' well I think that pertains to our little 'Marcia' all the time...I stand by your son I would never send my children for a visit because let's face it she's going with a man who has a criminal past...Danger with capital letters make themselves known to me and I would listen...Yep your right anything done in front of the boys will scar them for the rest of their lives...Right again his first wife & her family never thought he'd do it...Their lucky they got their daughter out of the situation and fast...As far as Marcia promising that she'd always be there and she'd never leave the boys alone in his care doesn't fly...You can't trust Marcia!!! Times a trillion!!! She really doesn't have the boy's best interest at heart, she's thinking of herself and her needs ahead of their safety and their needs...It's as simple as that...

Oh Lou Ann 'Shogun' is alright the kitties will work this all out with a little lovin' talkin' from Dorothy...It did quite well the other day, and yes sometimes you have to calm them down when they get tooooooo!!!! Hyper!!! They don't seem able to come down themselves very easily...Ouch!!! I'm hurting I did some exercises on my Total Gym and I'm sore, but that too goes back to the swamp cooler bad for Arthritis, & Fibro...

Oh I have no qualms about my cataract surgery I wish I'd had it done when he first told me he was ready...I wasn't ready for a lot of reasons back then...Now I don't care what's going on I need to do them now...The surgery is in and out, you wear a patch. put drops in that day, go in for a check-up the next day and then I think your back on the driving docket...

Oh unless I win the lottery nothing will be done to make me more comfortable...I just have to grin & bear it as they say... They don't have swamp coolers in their homes so I don't think they should talk!!! My temperature reading on my front porch in the shade reads 96' Inside my mobile it's 77' and 75' humidity!!! Now you see why I hurt so bad...

I have no idea what's going on for the 4Th of July the great dinner maker my Mother & then Myself until I got Fibro are gone...My house was where all the big Holiday meals were held because Papa wanted it so...And rightfully so he was right if it wasn't held here the whole family wouldn't get together, they splinter off into groups which I agree is not right since we all live in the same County!!! I tried to tell Daddy I wasn't able to keep up but he didn't understand and only got mad at me and was disrespectful of me...

When I stopped holding all the dinners they quit occurring and that's a sad state of affairs but that's how it is...When any of the other woman have a BBQ the hubby cooks the dinner and they have help getting the rest of the stuff set up & the table set...

Just remember I did everything pertaining to the dinners myself for a long time until I almost broke down in tears...That includes doing the shopping for the dinner and again coming home & having to put everything away and then start getting the dinner ready!!! It's too much for one person in perfect health to do let alone someone with health problems...Enough said...

annnieM...

I've been a proponent in my family for 'Nimby's' if you don't mind my asking where the heck did Dave get this one it looks just like the one 'Art Bell' has in his backyard in 'Pahrump' Nevada...We have wind not all the time but when it's here it's fast and furious or slow and steady either one will turn a Nimby's fan...

Ohhhh good you got to another concert, good for you...Oh my favorite the french horn I just love them...How wonderful that you got to go...I also think it's great that they had a lot of 'Patriotic Music' considering the time of year...I love the fact that the service men & woman stood up and were applauded...I would have been applauding & crying at the same time...I would have felt very good after that...Oh then it's off to the favorite ice-cream parlor to top off the night...How funny that your too slow for your cone...You should write a song about that...

Glad to hear that your sister wants to hitch a ride with ya guys and that then you'll have a 'buddy' when you go to the restroom, which would make this old girl feel better...You go girl get smores!!!

Dorothy...

My hair got cut really short this last time but I had her feather it, which softens the affect of the hair style...In the summer time I have to have it cut short or I go nuts with glowing!!! Lol...I'm glad your color came out well it's always nice when that happens although I'm not coloring my hair at the moment I have in the past...It's been every color short of black & red...Now it hasn't been lavender either, but I'm toying with the idea of doing lavender/purple streaks just thinking about it nothing to get excited about, but still I'm toying with the idea...Daddy was the best at figuring the layout for sprinkler systems ever!!! If I do say so myself seeing him in action and the results on a lot of lawns...Ooooo going out to dinner way to go...Oh Lisa gets to meet 'Shogun' & clean how fun for her...

Oh yeah cataract surgery is easy/peasy I'll let you know everything that will happen to you before, during, and after the surgery so that your well prepared when you go...OMG Maggie has eaten at least 5 pair of glasses, almost 3 but really 2 sets of hearing aids...If I ever leave my dentures within her reach their toast too, she'll just chew them up like their candy...Oh the tar, yeah it's just a medical way of saying they want Dr. Proof sent to them and then they'll tell you whether you can have whatever it is you want done or not...Philistine way of treating tax payers but there it is...I did not desire to get Fibro & all the other stuff too but there it is...

Yes Roy's Birthday dinner was a hoot & then the visit at the house was fun as well seeing the new chicks and meeting the proud Rooster that guards his harem...

Yeah I'm going to look into what kind of window that room A/C can handle whether it can handle my type of window or not, and the costs...

You getting confused is probably due to my writing I guess, but yes we have a huge 3 ton A/C that my dad bought on account of my Mom couldn't handle the swamp cooler with her arthritis...We also had all the duct work cleaned out and ready for use but I can't turn it on, and even if I did it's not holding a charge which leads me to believe that it has gone & died...I need a whole new air conditioner and they run about $3000.00 at least one big enough to handle the heat that it has to stand up to...Don't get scared it's probably my fault!!! I take 1000 words to say what most people say in 10!!! I've also been called 'Motor Mouth' with a smile 'wink' but I turned the tables on that one...I don't talk anymore then any other women...It's not our fault if the guys don't talk...

Yep I know about fighting to get not only what you want, but what your entitled to get...You go Dorothy girl you deserve it, they need to give it to you...Good Luck...If you have to get a Lawyer that specializes in Insurance Companies...I hope it doesn't come to that...I hated to but I went to a Lawyer and that's exactly what it took...I didn't have to go in front of a Superior Court Judge and plead my case as they were going against their own law...What gives with that??? They just wanted me to go away...I believe they get paid a bonus for how many people they can hurt so much that they just give up...I was there two other times and that's exactly what they want when you do they've done their job...The third time around it was while my Dad lay dying in the hospital & my sister was voted to go with me and make sure that I stayed the course...I got the rudest person ever to talk to me and I went home a wreck...My sister went back with me  and a few more times and then I told her not to bother any more...I had to be really careful what I said to her because she would go back to my brother's with it...OMG!!! What a time I had...I got so low that I told her it's not going to happen so I might as well be dead!!! That was the wrong thing to say to her it set her off...I told her I didn't really mean what I said not to worry...But I really did, I was so gosh darn mad!!! I talked to a police officer there and she said yeah they make it hard on you but don't give up...I called the Lawyer that night and made an appointment to see him...He took one look at me, then at my folder & documents, and Dr's reports that I had & he said I'll take your case they're going against their own rules, and I think I can get you on without even going before a Judge, and so he did just that...Remember that when your about to give up...

Great minds do think alike, Mary Ann!  Isn't that the most adorable Happy Canada day tag ever!!  I'm like you!  I absolutely love to hold $100 bill or hang on to money just a little bit longer.  You're so right about Marcia.  I don't think that Lou Ann's brother should trust Marcia as far as he can throw her.  I do hope she decides to give up the boys, as I'm thinking that would be better for them in the long run.  As far as the wind turbine, Dave looked long and hard for one that would suit his needs.  He is trying to become a distributor for them, thinking that he will install them for other people.  I have no idea what the name of the company is that he's working with.  As we sat out on the deck this morning for breakfast it was going and there wasn't a hardly a breeze down where we were.  Dave spent a year collecting wind data to be prepared.  He knows that the summer months can be the least windy, but the wind seems to pick up in the evening around here.  Here it takes about 8 miles per hour winds to turn the blades on that nimby.  It really was a tearjerker when the men and women stood up during their particular branch of the services song.  It was really good to see the young people applauding!

I talked to my mom and she will go with us to the 4th of July fireworks and concert.  She thinks a cookout on Monday would be wonderful.  So I've started some plans… just need to fill them out.

I had a happy surprise this morning in my e-mail.  I got an e-mail from my old duffer friend in England.  This was the first time I heard from him in a month and 1/2.  I'm thinking he has a spam filter and it thinks I'm spam.  His stepson works on his computer all the time and probably changed his settings.  Try, try again, I guess.  It was a very pleasant surprise!  I suppose I should go invite some people for the 4th of July and start planning a shindig.  Wishing everyone who comes in a fantastic Friday and a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

OMG, I did it again.  I had a really long post.

I copied and pasted and only got the border.

I do not know why, but am not writing all that

again.  I missed posting a day or so because

I was in awful pain for about 36 hours.  All

is well now.  I do not know what is wrong

with Dorothy's post but I could not begin to

read it and I did try.  You all have a great

holiday weekend if I do not get back.

Mary Ann, my post looks fine when I view it in IE like I normally do, but when I view it in Mozilla, it's off the page, as you said.   I HATE that different browsers make our posts look different!
Anyway, I'm re-posting my Friday Evening post without the border for those who can't read my original post.

Good Evening!

I'm not sure why, but when Lisa cleans my house I get SO tired!   I was seriously whumped by the time she left.   It's hard watching somebody else clean your house!

Shogun put on quite a show for her.   He attached 'her' Chrystie repeatedly, which upset her.  She had to spend a lot of time giving Chrystie extra loves.  Then she needed to play with Shogun, and I think he captivated her too ~ not nearly as much as 'her' Chrystie, of course.  lol   She worked hard, but she also had a lot of fun with the kids ~ and she completely wore me out.

Shogun surprised us all by not being the least bit intimidated by the Vaccum Cleaner!   Then he proceeded to steal things out of Lisa's cleaning box.   By the time she left, we all crashed.

I took some pictures which I will add tomorrow ~ assuming I have more life in me then.  Ha.

Yesterday was a milestone day ~ the first time we clipped his claws.   Such language!  I was shocked that he knew such words!   I held him and Mike clipped his nails very quickly and zoom!  He was off!   He did forgive us rather quickly though.

annnieM, WOW!   Your NIMBY is really impressive!   If it works as you hope, it will be even more impressive, and save you beaucoup bucks too!  Yay!     Of Course there wouldn't be any wind when Dave got it up and running ~ did you expect that things would go smoothly?  Ha.   I'm sure it won't be long before it the winds come.

The concert sounded grand.  I've been to events over the 4th where all the Service men and veterans were honored, and I just love it.   We went to the fireworks at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park (inspiration for The Shining) one year.  It was wonderful with the fireworks over Lake Stanley and all the patriotic music being played on the grounds.  Mike wouldn't stand when Army was honored though.  He never accepts any thanks or appreciation for his service.   He didn't have to go to Viet Nam (thank God), so he doesn't think he deserves recognition.   He is so wrong.  He served his country with honor and I'm proud of him.   We will fly our flag for the weekend, and in my heart I particularly fly it for Mike and for his Dad who served in WWII, and even for my brother who got a medical discharge early from the Navy.  He was ready and willing to serve, his lungs just wouldn't let him.   Ultimately he had one removed.
Anyway, God bless all of our service men and women, past and present, wherever and however they serve.

How wonderful that you heard from your friend in England!   I know how worried you have been about him.

How great that your sister is going to go to the concert with you!   Fun for the companionship, and what a relief to know you'll have help!

We had planned to have Shogun locked in the bedroom when Lisa came, and let her let him out IF she wanted to.  (IF she wanted to?  Who am I kidding!  She is the real Cat Whisperer.   Sooo cute with the 'kids')    Anyway, he had different ideas, so he was down waiting for her at the door.  It worked out ok, though, thank goodness.

Good for Zarah, getting moved out and getting her deposit back.

Mary Ann, you have obviously 'served your time' as hostess with the mostess.  It's past time when others play host to you!   Things are so often unfair, and for some reason lots of  people just can't see it.

I'm a lot happier with my haircut than I thought I was going to be.  She had it curled more, and that made it seem even shorter.  I'm just barely touching it with the curling iron, and it looks casual but kinda nice.   I'm satisfied.    Lavendar with purple streaks, eh?   Now this I gotta see!  LOL

I got the Dental Insurance straightened out, but it really was funny.  I won't go through the whole conversation, but the bottom line was that the Met Live rep asked if I had a record of what "My" insurance paid and what the total bill was.
Yes, sez I.  I got both from YOUR Met Life Web site, where it also shows that my husband's insurance needs to have that information before they can pay my claim on his insurance.
Ok, sez the Rep.   Make a copy of that information and send it to us.
"Say WHAT?", sez I?   Copy the information from YOUR Website and send it to you?   You have GOT to be kidding!
Him: Silence
Me:  Longer silence.
Him: Ok.  I'll pull the information myself and submit it.
Me: Thank you.  (I tried really hard to say that with a straight face)
ROTFLOL
Really ~ Tooooo funny!

So then the next day I get a bill from a secondary billing agency for my Cardiologist Office for $6.64 which they said was overdue.  I literally went ballistic!    I got one of these last month, called and talked to the Cardiologists Billing Office and was told to ignore it.   Now this one said "Final Notice".   Oh, my dears, I was HOT!   Apparently they enlisted another billing firm to 'help clean up accounts', and my guess is that the program swept any account as of a certain (recent) date that had a balance into their clutches.  (I used to be a programmer.  I KNOW bad programming when I see it!)
I told the Rep (through clenched teeth) that I had been a 'client' of Rocky Mountain Cardiovascular for 15 years, and I had never missed making a  payment,
nor had I ever been late, and I didn't appreciate being treated like a Dead Beat!
She clearly didn't know what she was doing with this program, but she was pleasant and tried hard, so I let her live.   She assured me that I had a zero balance and owed nothing and then (with prompting) promised to call the other billing agency and assure that they sent me no more bills.   I wished her a nice weekend, wrote down her name and the details, and made a mental note that if I DO get another bill, I won't mess with the 'front line', but I will immediately escallate to the group's manager.
(Take two blood pressure pills and call me in the morning.  LOL)

We have a 'Horror Marathon' on DVD for the holiday weekend.  Don't you always have to watch Jaws over the 4th?   We have collected a lot more "fishy" horror stories, and plan to view them all weekend long.  Too bad it isn't past Chip Day.   Fish and Chips sound good.

Waving at the rest of ya.   Have a great weekend.

See ya in the AM.

Droopy Dorothy.

Ok, here are the pictures.

Looking out of the Dining Room Window.  My first thought was that Marvin didn't put the cat sculptures back where they go, but he did put one over under the Mock Orange.   Oh, wait!  I don't have one that looks like that!
Closer view showed it was alive!
We had a visitor.  Guess the fresh mulch was inviting.  :-)

Lisa is the Cat Whisperer.  It's just a hoot to watch her with the cats.  She loves them, and the feeling is mutual.  Chrystie follows her all over the house, and Shogan even played with the Vaccum Cleaner with her ~ and yes it was ON!   He wasn't the least bit intimidated by it.

After the Colorado Chain Saw Massacre, I wasn't sure we would have any roses OR the Mock Orange.  Well, I was wrong.  We've had lovely roses and the Mock Orange bloomed, too, though not as much as usual.   I went out too late to get good pictures of most of the first blooms, but I should have another shot later.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words.   Did I talk too much??   What else is new.  Lol

happy_4th-lg.gif

Dorothy had a scrolling message, which I deleted since she posted it later on without the border and it worked.  I apologize as that was my border you used, and I don't know why that happened.  I had come with the same border to use today but I am not going to use it now.  I'm using Lou Ann's because it works.

Hi Lou Ann!  Sorry you lost your post yet again.  I think you have gremlins in your computer.  Sounds like you had gremlins in your body too, causing all that pain.  I hate that you were in such pain.  Glad you're feeling better!  I hope you have a lovely holiday weekend and I hope you get your brats!

Hi Dorothy!  Lovely pictures!  The roses are beautiful!  Loved your visitor!  Our gypsy looked just like that.  Well, close.  Loved the pictures of Lisa with your cats.  Does she have cats of her own?  Looking at the pictures of Shogun, I find it hard to believe he's going to grow into those ears!  They are GYnormous!!  LOL.  You enjoy watching Jaws.  I do not know why you watch that at the 4th of July, but you just go right ahead, I'll pass.  Just talking about if I can hear the music in my brain, and I'm frightened.  You tell  Mike I can't believe he doesn't recognize his own service to our country.  I'd slap him if I was next to him.  I don't know many veterans, except my dad.  Dave's dad was a veteran too.  Most of that generation was.  Dave was right after Vietnam, so he wasn't drafted.  I'm proud to know Mike, so I know one more veteran.  Tell him thank you from me… you just tell him that!  Have a wonderful 4th of July!

I've just talked to my daughter and she is bringing shish kebabs to cook out on the 4th of July and we are going to be providing pink cottage cheese and taco salad and stuff for smores and my mom is bringing a watermelon.  There will only be a few of us but that's just fine.  We'll all fit on the deck.  I know, you're all wondering what pink cottage cheese is.  It's a salad made with cottage cheese, fruit cocktail, marachino cherries, cool whip, and  either jello or instant kool aid to make it pink.  Dave doesn't eat jello, so we changed it.  It's quite tasty and we haven't had it in ages!  I'm really hungry for taco salad!  My sister almost volunteered to make it but I wanted to be very tasty and things she brings are dicey at best.  Sad to say.  But she is good for companionship and I would never tell her that nobody likes to eat her stuff.  Anyway, we need to go to the store today to buy ingredients so we can have a pig out!  I'm hungry just thinking of it!

Dave is out mowing the yard and weeding the garden, and trying to catch up on all the chores he let slide when he was busy with the wind turbine.  Zarah is playing in the black hills symphony tonight at Mount Rushmore at 8:00 PM and I think I want to go Dave said he will do whatever I want so hopefully he won't be too tired.  How often am I going to get to hear Zarah play at Mount Rushmore?  Yes, I want to go.  So much to do, so little time.  Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July weekend!  Hugs,

Hi annnieM...

Yep I agree about Marcia all the way...The boys will be much better off without her in their lives because of the constant turmoil that will ensue if she doesn't...I don't see the marriage dissolving without a fight over this and that issue and after that there's the alimony problem, then custody, etc...etc...etc...Cut the cord now!!! It's not fair to the children to make them go through all that...

I love Dave's Nimby, it's absolutely beautiful...You can see right through it I don't see what the problem is...I wish I could have one installed right now I have lots of wind here, people can put forth all the arguments they want the bottom line is the bottom dollar...Electricity is not going to go down, it's only going to go up and up and up...Every year you wait you pay more and more for your utility bill...

Yea!!! For our Men & Woman in Uniform & all our Veteran's

Cool you'll have a family outing of sorts on the 4TH...A cookout sounds great that's what I like burgers on the grill are all it takes to keep me happy I'm a cheap guest

Wow!!! That's great that you heard from your old friend from England...Yes filters seem to cause that trouble I think that's what happens to my emails I send to my Nephew Daniel but he says no...

Lou Ann...

So sorry that you lost your post again!!! It happens to me a lot too even after I save it go figure...When it happens we're too plum tuckered out to re-do...PAIN!!!
I vote we stamp out ALL PAIN...I have had enough to last me a lifetime how about you??? You had trouble reading Dorothy's post??? It was just wider on my side but I could still read it with no problem this time...

Wishing you a great Holiday Week-End Too...
If you or I don't get back in...

Dorothy...

Why have they not sat down together and mapped out all this stuff??? There shouldn't be any difference between any of them...

I have a suggestion...STOP watching her and either get on the computer or read a book or turn on the television...You are wearing yourself out watching her, do you not trust her to clean without your supervision???

Naturally 'Shogun' will put on a show for her, and part of that is attacking Chrystie to illicit reaction from her!!! Lol...
Vacuum cleaner scare 'Shogun' egad!!! Of course not!!! He's a wild cat who sat by and on the laps of Kings & Rulers He's rather look at it with disdain and bat at it to shoo it away...Stealing yep!!! A must the wild side of him just like animals in the wild...Greetings also fall under this category

Mike & Language who would have thought??? LOL...
Oh he tolerates it and runs off...

No...Not Lavender with purple streaks, I was thinking along the lines of choosing between the two colors for highlights in my hair!!! I have no idea if I'll dye my hair color itself or just leave it as is...Just thinking...You see...

Good for you Dorothy for setting that agent straight!!! Lol...Hey a programmer in our midst good to know!!!
I'm so glad you let the poor girl go without killing her...Mmm...Seems to me that we have more then one wild one in the family!!! I know I was a data entry operator and I could see poor programming too...I know they make you get all upset when it's not even your fault to begin with...
Oh Yeah!!! Jaws on the 4TH...Anaconda would be a good one too...Chips & Dip here I come...NOT!!!

Stopping Here just in case...

Hi Dorothy...

I'm glad you got a good 'DO' on your hair cut I figure even if it's a bit too short- - -it grows out...

How funny looking out and not finding your yard sculpture's in their rightful place, and then having a very cute AHA moment where you find out one is alive...Yes fresh laid mulch is very appetizing to critters...You made some neighbor cats happy!!!

Lisa is to cats like I am to dogs...My charges don't like the vacuum cleaner at all!!! They bark at it all the time Maggie would like to bite it so I end up locking them out of wherever I'm vacuuming at the time...LOL...

You kill me with the 'Chainsaw Massacre' on the rose bushes...Yep it depends how much they left on and it was hit and miss with them I guess...You can consider yourself lucky!!!  And no you didn't talk too much...

OMG!!!
You talk too much you worry me to death...
You talk too much you even worry my pet...
You just talk...
Talk too much...

Sorry Dorothy I don't know what came over me...

annnieM...
I using 'Mozilla Firefox' today let's see what happens to my posts oh I already know...My first one went out just fine, so I'm doing another...

As far as 'Shogun's' GYnormous ears are concerned remember DUMBO??? He'll do them proud I'm thinkin'
Jaws the movie was all taking place over the 4TH of July week-end...The busiest tourist day for the little Island is 4TH of July and there was a shark scare that very week...The town council wanted everything shut up & covered up until after the Holidays ergo they get their thirty pieces of silver or so to speak...That is why you watch Jaws over the 4TH of July week-end...

I can't believe Mike is not crediting himself as being a Veteran either...Thank you Mike for your service to our Country...

Wow that sounds like quite a meal pink cottage cheese, taco salad & stuff for smores...Oh wait I forgot Shis-Ka-Bob's...Oh wow and you'll be eating on the deck 'Kewl'
Oh go ahead have pink cottage cheese!!! I could go for a good 'taco salad' myself haven't had any in ages...OMG!!! Your making me hungry...Just reading all about it!!! Yum!!! Yum!!!

I hope Dave isn't to tired & you hitch up the wagon and go here Zarah play...I hope Dave gets everything done...

Wishing Everyone a Happy 4TH July Weekend!!!

RE:SIGN IN FOR JULY
(Date Posted:07/03/2010 11:10 PM)

Hello Ladies

Hot, hot, hot.  Too warm in here today.

Part way through the day mom got sick

my moaning about being hot and said

close up and put the AC on.  So we did.

But now it is hotter in the house than

it is outside so I will have to check the

AC in my room...I am afraid it may be

failing.  There is no way I can buy a

new one.  Keep your fingers crossed.

We will not be having brats for the 4th.

We will be having left overs from today.

My mom is not a pizza eater but she

does like chicken alfredo pizza.  I do

not.  I do like the ones with the garlic

white sauce but not the alfredo.  So

she wanted me to order that for our

supper.  Pizza Ranch has $5.00 small

pizzas so we each got one with out own

topping choices.  We also got a cactus

bread dessert pizza.  We each ate 1/2

our pizzas and 1 slice of the dessert one.

Mom said great, now I do not have to

cook tomorrow.  That is ok with me, lol.

Maybe I can get one on Monday.

Dorothy, I want to play with the kids.

I am so jealous.  I wish that Chrystie

would put Shogun in his place.  She

needs to teach him to respect his elders.

I really worry about how tired you get

and that you have been ill off and on

lately.  Maybe it is time for a good

check up and blood work.  Tell Mike

that I appreciate his service to our

country.  My father and my Uncle Dick

were Air Force.  My dad ended up with

a medical discharge and my uncle was

a lifer.  That is how my mom met my

dad.  He came home with a close

friend of the families for a weekend.

He said in general maybe if I leave my

address someone will scribble me a few

lines.  So my mom did...she actually

sent a post card with only scribbling on

it.   That was their start.  They got

married on Thanksgiving because they

were both able to get those 4 days off

to do a little trip to Niagara Falls.

annnieM, your 4th plans sound wonderful

to me.  I like a smaller group over a

large one.  Now you have me wanting

Taco Salad, lol.  My mom likes that if

it is done not too spicy.  Enjoy the

symphony, it sounds fantastic.

Mary Ann, I am with you.  Let's stomp

out pain altogether.  I do not know

what caused it but I could not sleep or

sit comfortably.  My lower back was in

agony and was effecting my legs.  I

could do nothing to get comfortable.

All I could think was that if I could no

longer be comfortable in my recliner,

where did that leave me?  I never take

anything for pain as nothing has ever

helped my back.  So after over 24+

hours of being in pain I decided to

take 3 extra strength acetaminophens

as I had a horrid headache too.  About

an hour later I realized I was no longer

in pain.  OMG...so I took a couple more

before going to bed and have not had

that pain since.  For that I am truly

thankful.  I think I may have positioned

odd in my recliner and during that night

stretched/pinched something to create

the pain.  I was also experiencing a

sharp pain in my upper left back that got

worse with deep breaths.  Or movement

of my head, but that too went away.  So

I do think I moved into a bad position

overtaxed muscles or whatever.  Just

happy that all is well now.

Everyone have a lovely 4th!

Hugs,

Happy 4th Everyone!

I added a couple of patriotic mwvs for the 4th.

FIRE_C15.gif image by weedigirl3
annnieM, thanks for deleting that post.   I wasn't sure it was causing the problem, but obviously it was.   I HATE that things look different depending on which browser we are using.  Everything looked fine to me with IE7, but I could see the scroll when I signed in with Mozilla.

I thought our Visitor was lovely, too!   I think he's from a backyard neighbor and he used to visit us regularly, but I haven't seen him in quite a while so I'm not sure.  He posed beautifully for me.  It was so funny ~ I actually thought he was one of our stone cats for a nano-second.

I think Shogun is going to be a really big boy, but we'll have to wait and see.  He's surely a pistol!  I don't think we'll have the opportunity to get bored for several years.

I'm passing your nice words on to Mike.   I so agree that he should be proud of his service.

Your Pink Cottage Cheese sounds yummy.   I know you are going to have a great 4th!
We've started ours off with the traditional 'Breakfast at Wimbledon', and strawberries and cream for breakfast.
Great match, btw.
It's only going to be in the 70s today, and it might rain!   Not so good for big BBQs, but lovely for Mike and me!

Mary Ann, I was thinking that, too, about Lisa and the cats and you and the puppies.    I love 'em all, but I don't have the patience you do.   I just get such a kick out of watching Lisa with the cats.    She has two herself, a Siamese (her parents used to breed Siamese) and a black cat that is the son of her Siamese.  Yes, she was a cat with low morals ~ and obviously Lisa lets them go outside.  They are neutered now, or I would have to give her my disapproving look.

I will pass your thanks on to Mike, too.   He will be embarassed.

Lou Ann, Oooh, I hope your AC isn't going out.  Maybe it just had too much to do to get the apt cooled off and overheated.   Ours used to do that before we got it replaced.  It would just 'freeze' and we'd have to turn it off for a while, and then when we turned it back on, it would work fine ~~ for a while.

Sorry no brats ~ but Chicken Alfredo Pizza sounds yummy!  Cactus bread?    Describe the dessert pizza.   I always want to come to your house for dinner.

What a neat story about your Mom and Dad and the way they met.

The kids would LOVE to have you come and play with them.  Everybody loves Chrystie, and Shogun is a kitten so he's just plain fun.  I can tell he is going to be a really great cat when he's older ~~~ if we all survive.

I'm glad you finally took something to kill the pain.  I hate taking pills too, but sometimes the pain just builds upon itself if you don't do something about it.   You deserve a pain free day ~ or 365.

Debbie, you'll have to enjoy the fireworks for us cuz the only way we're gonna see them today is on TV.   They just aren't convenient for us around here anymore.

Oh, poor Jay.   I hope he is feeling better very soon.

FIRE_C15.gif image by weedigirl3

Have a safe and happy holiday, everyone!
