FEBRUARY TWILIGHT

I STOOD BESIDE A HILL
SMOOTH WITH NEW-LAID SNOW,
A SINGLE STAR LOOKED OUT
FROM THE COLD EVENING GLOW.
THERE WAS NO OTHER CREATURE
THAT SAW WHAT I COULD SEE --
I STOOD AND WATCHED THE EVENING STAR
AS LONG AS IT WATCHED ME.

RE:FEBRUARY SIGN IN
(Date Posted:02/01/2012 10:41 AM)

Thanks Lou Ann for the lovely signature!  I will look forward to your new February page.  They are always so much fun!  I snuck in this morning and put up the new skin and the header and I knew I could count on you for a beautiful February page.  I was tickled pink to get a new signature!  Thank you!  Have you recovered from your friends weekend?

Hi Mary Ann.  Pretty impressive being the first one in!  I do hope that you are going to find lots more jobs.  I will hope and pray that your labs are wonderful.  I have saved your cute little teddy bear and I will try to get your name on it.

My week is going.  We have no lift and now the lady is not calling us back.  Dave says he will call the company.  My mom has been out every afternoon to watch movies.  I will have to be very blunt with her that I want to sleep in the afternoon.  Yesterday the Comfort Keeper lady came and we talked but without the lift have it was a waste of an afternoon.  Dave put me in my chair.  She did make me a cup of tea and straighten out the kitchen but mostly we visited.  We did get her schedule to come earlier next time so I'm able to get her to help with laundry and such.  We really need this lift to come, or some lift.

Zarah comes home from her honeymoon tonight but Dave doesn't think she will be working this week.  I bet she will.  I think Katie has been here two weeks now.  She is definitely going to be happy to see them and her brother dog.  I hope she got lots of pictures of Costa Rica.  I hope she had a wonderful time.

Wish me luck in getting that stupid lift and getting everything sorted out.  Happy hump day!

RE:FEBRUARY SIGN IN
(Date Posted:02/01/2012 12:22 PM)

Good Morning, and welcome to February! I didn't even realize it was Leap Year until I looked at the Calendar.

Once again, a wonderful Sign-In page ~ thank you so much Lou Ann!    Beautiful new skin, annnieM!   Definitely makes me feel Valentine's Day is close.  Just lovely!

Lou Ann ~ more presents!   You have definitely spoiled us!   This is adorable.  Thank you so much!    I've held off on using Valentine's Day tags until today.  Now . . Look Out!

I started the day on the Theracycle again this morning. I don't know that it will help with the weight loss since IT does most of the work, but I do hope it will help with my lack-of-limberness.
Then I ran the new little cordless vacuum cleaner over kitchen and hallway, particularly the area where the cat dishes live. We have a mat under the dishes, but you wouldn't believe how far food gets "flung". Yiikes. BTW, that little LIGHT vaccuum is loverly!
I have a load of laundry in the dryer and Mike is at the Grocery Store. Who ARE these people who seem to have taken over our house?! Surely not the Butchers.

I have been so looking forward to having our new neighbor's house finished so we can look out of our front window and not see worker's trucks and cars. They have been here since we moved in the end of May ~ well, after they FINALLY moved the PortaPotty and Dumpsters, anyway.

So today, when I look out my window, what do I see? You guessed it! From the corner, there is a home that has been there for a long time, then the new Model Home they are building (which I call Sarah's house), then a vacant lot, then our new neigbor's house, then our house. I assumed the folks working on the model would park in front of the vacant lot and our new neighbor's house, and we'd finally have clear space in front of our house. But no!
Actually, it appears that there are worker-bees in our new neighbor's house, so she may have some issues that need to be dealt with.
I just submitted our warranty work requests so we will (hopefully) have workers back at our house too. There isn't a whole lot, but we do want things fixed while they are still under warranty.

Weather report: In the 50s today, and then we have 6 to 12 inches of SNOW predicted for tomorrow and Friday! It's a good thing Mike's getting groceries today!

Well, Hail! Hail!  The Gang's all here!

Mary Ann, you Early Bird!   Out looking for worms, are you??
It sounds like you have a really busy day.  I hope and pray your numbers are better and the shot doesn't hurt.

Good about getting another job for a while.   We still need that Lottery Win!

annnieM, I'm so sorry the Lift hasn't come and you aren't getting the kind of help you need. Good that you got the Comfort Keeper lady to come earlier next time so she can help with the laundry ~~ and so maybe you can get a nap in the afternoon, too! If/When the Lift comes, is she going to try to see if she can use it to help you into or out of your chair? My fingers ache from being crossed so long! I pray for you every day. We NEED this to work!

Are you going to miss Katie ~~ or will you maybe be able to get a bit of rest without her being there? My friend Judy in Omaha just recently had to have her aging Black Lab put to sleep. She and Morgen were always together so I was worried about her. She got a Lab/Border Collie mix puppie from the Humane Society that same week, which has turned out to be a very good idea, because "Pepper", the pup, has kept her more than on her toes! Judy does a lot of volunteer work, and she's taken the pup with her so others can fuss over her while she (Judy) does her volunteer work. I don't think she's had time to miss Morgen. The pup is a pistol! Judy is exhausted.
I'm so glad you've been able to get in and let us know what is going on. We worry.

Mike is home, so I'd best go and help him unload groceries. Have a lovely day all!

Finally I got the real scoop on my sister-in-law, Carolyn’s brain tumor. As is not unusual “the boys” got it all wrong, and because Mike said it as if it were so, I didn’t question.

It is not a glioma, but a vestibular schwannoma, often called an acoustic neuroma. It is benign, but much larger than these tumors usually are. They weren’t able to get all of it, so now they are considering Neurology options. The neurologist said they have better success with malignant tumors than with these, so they may not do much. We’ll see.

Something like this is never good, but this really sounds like as good as could be. It worried me that it was (is?) wrapped around the spinal nerves, but it really sounds as good as we could hope for. She’s taking PT and her eye, which wouldn’t close, is getting better and she seems to be doing well.

Thanks for your support and your prayers. When I thought it was a glioma (like Mike told me!) I panicked a bit

Good Morning!

6 more weeks of Winter.

Late again, but I did work out on the Theracycle and get my shower and get a few little things done. We're expecting a whole bunch of snow starting at "Drive Time" tonight. Lisa called and said she WILL be here tomorrow. I thought she might want to cancel.

We also got a call from the Builder saying that he would have some 7 or 8 contractors here on Wednesday to do the Warranty work we submitted. I thought he might want to come and check it out himself and see if everything on the list was ok to submit, but it sounds like they will just go ahead and fix everything.

Other than making beef stew for us to have on the weekend, I don't have any serious plans. Lots I need to be doing, but . . . .

annnieM, I hope the Lift is on it's way, and I hope that Brandi thinks adding some extra work to her schedule is a great idea!

Have a great day everyone.

RE:FEBRUARY SIGN IN
(Date Posted:02/02/2012 1:10 PM)

Lou Ann...
Thank you for the 'Awesome February Page'
What a sight it is indeed another 'Busier then a hen
sh_tting peach seeds!!!' forgive my french but it is...
Wow what a page and hey did anyone see the groundhog
this morning??? I didn't have the news on...I'm feeling
poorly so I just forgot to turn it on...What's the scoop on
your big week-end??? Come on inquiring minds want to
know...
Oh so much for adding my name to my tag it's smashing...

annneiM...
I still don't know what kind of lift your getting, it it a 'Hoyer'
lift like I used in the hospital or what??? I also had one delivered
to the house for Daddy when he was to come home from the
hospital but I didn't need it...I'm sorry that your having
such trouble with the companies!!! I had no problems at all
getting my lift...They delivered it set it up, showed me how to
manage it and how to get Daddy safely in and out of bed...

Then the ladies not calling you back??? What is this???
That's no way to run a company...I think it would be
wise for you to stay in touch with your cleaning girl...
I don't know just how much work you'll get out of this
in home service person...I know when I was going to
have one come out there were all sorts of stipulations
and rules and things that you normally wouldn't even
think of...I hope they work out for you, I just decided not
to even bother...Your case is different from mine though...

You really need somebody on the days your hubby is working
to be with you I didn't need that it's so hard to figure out what
to do but maybe keep your cleaning girl on since you don't
have to pay for the in home service....Couldn't hurt eh???

Yep your Mom will need to learn your schedule and that
includes when you take your naps, which you have to have
or your not good for the rest of the day!!!

I agree with you that Zarah will probably hit the ground
walking and never look back...I also can guess she'll be
anxious to visit with you and pick up little 'Katie'...

Don't for get us here when you get some pictures of
the 'Honeymoon' er...Trip to Costa Rica is that it???
You know how much we love photo's here...

I will talk to St. Jude he's the Patron Saint of Lost Causes...
I figure that's what your lift is by now!!!

Wanted to thank you to for the stunning skins feels
just like we all should be trading little cards back
and forth like days of way back...

Dorothy...
Hooray for you using the 'Theracycle'  I really do think
it will help you because it is passive exercise for you...
This will I hope help your limberness like you said,
if it does just that your ahead of the game you will
get to the point that you can start walking and that
will help your whole body I kid you not...

I agree the little vacuum cleaners are a must as far
as I'm concerned...In fact a while ago I ordered a new
cleaner that vacuums & steam cleans at the same time!!!
Wow what a time saver this little jewel is and does a great
job on top of that...It has a brush for vacuuming and then
it has the re-useable microfiber mops that get placed on
by 'Hook & Loop Tape' (Velcro) you use them and then
throw them in the wash!!! I still have my original 'Don
Aslett Mop' and use it too depends on how sore/tired
I am which one I use...

Oh Dorothy visiting houses you quickly learn about
the trails of 'Kitty Litter' that get deposited through out
the house 'Holy Cow' it goes everywhere...

Whoa howdy at least the 'Crappers' are out of your
line of sight...We shall thank 'God' for the small
favors, whatta ya think???

One day Dorothy you'll look outside just to see
neighbors walking back & forth and you'll have
a free open parking spot in front of you 'OWN HOME'
Geez Louise, you won't know how to act will ya???

Yep you want to get your list submitted before the time
runs out & then I'd call once in awhile to see where I am
in line to be taken care of...

Yep I woke up at 3:00am and couldn't go back to sleep,
and if the dogs had anything to do with anything I had
to get up and get them their breakfast so I did just that...
Then I got dressed so at least that would be done when
it was time for me to head off to do my labs & then get
my injection if it warrants...

Your Judy in Omaha sounds like a pistol herself so she
and her new pup have found each other!!! My niece
Leslie who's a vet is a big believer of people going to their
local shelter's to buy dogs...I know you can get the best dogs
there it's unbelievable...I'm sure 'Morgan' is up on the 'Rainbow Bridge' right now looking down with love at Judy & Pepper
and feeling so happy that his mistress has gotten a new pup
and it happy...

You lucky dog you, having 'Mike' there to do the grocery
shopping for you...I'd give anything to have someone
do my grocery shopping for me it just plain wears me
out...

Dorothy I just plain don't like tumors at all!!! I had one so
I speak from experience they don't just sit there and be
tumors...Oh no they have to wind around, strangulate, and
wield their way through and in and out of other organs...
They make a mess where ever they are too that someone
always has to clean up!!! Then you pray they catch it all,
if they don't then you have that hanging over your head
forever as well...Yuck!!!

If it's all the same to you I think I'll still keep you S-I-L
in my prayers...

I am not a happy camper, I have come down with a 'Migraine'
along with a Sinus Infection from hell with the works, stubbed
up nose, runny nose, phlegm running down my throat 24/7,
dry hacking cough, burning eyes etc...etc...etc...

Then I headed off for labs/injection??? First because of how
sh_tty I felt I showed up on the wrong day...There so
'kewl' there at the 'Cancer Out Patient Cntr' that they
said not to worry because I was there they would
work me in!!! Phew...I get another wonderful tech from
the lab, never felt the needle going in or coming out...

I waited for awhile and then got the news...Of course I
needed my shot...This didn't surprise me as I haven't
been feeling chipper at all lately...When I got back to
Ann's house I looked at my labs!!! To my horror and shock
my Hemoglobin was 9.2 down from my already toilet
reading of 9.8!!! I could say before that at least it wasn't
going down!!! But oh no we can't have that can we...
a normal is 11.7-15.5 as you can plainly see I'm not
doing too well at all...This means my Kidney's
are not working!!! What worry's me the worst is
my 'Estimated GFR' my reading is 28!!!
this reading is from 15-29 so I'm on the low end of
the totem pole here!!! I also am sure that I'm suffering
from a low grade infection and that shows up in my
readings as well...

Well I'm not thinking that I'm going to get my kidney's better now!!! I'm afraid I'm going downhill I don't know what else
to think I've tried and tried and I haven't been able to kick it...
I'm sitting here keying this with frozen fingers in Ann's house...
I absolutely can't run the heater, but I told her if I can't run
the big heater then I absolutely need to run the little one...

Ann unhooked her 2nd freezer/refrigerator and her wine
refrigerator and we'll see how the bill comes out next
month....

Anyway hope everyone has a great over the hump day...

HELLO LADIES
MY POOR MAMA.  SHE HAD TO HAVE AND ENDOSCOPY AND A COLONOSCOPY TODAY.  SO SHE HAD TO DO ALL
THAT CLEANSING WED NIGHT AND THIS MORNING.  I
REMEMBERED ALL THE PROBLEMS SHE HAD WITH IT LAST TIME AND SUGGESTED SHE GET SOME DEPENDS.  BUT NO, SHE LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY.  SO SHE SPENT THE EVENING AND THE MORNING RUNNING TO THE BATHROOM, CHANGING HER CLOTHES AND MOPPING UP THE FLOOR.  ON TOP OF IT ALL WE KNEW HER BLOOD WAS LOW AND SHE WAS TIRED.  BUT SHE MANAGED THOUGH SHE WAS FAR FROM PLEASANT.
THEY FOUND NO BLEEDS.  SHE DID HAVE ABOUT 6 POLYPS THAT THEY REMOVED AND HER HEMORRHOIDS
WERE HORRID.  THE DOCTOR ORDERED HER SOMETHING FOR THEM.  BEFORE SHE LEFT SHE WENT AND HAD HER BLOOD DRAW WITH A TYPE AND CROSS MATCH.  HER HGB WAS 8.5 AND SO SHE WILL BE GETTING A TRANSFUSION IN THE MORNING.  A LOT FOR HER TO DEAL WITH...TOO MUCH AND SHE IS WORN OUT.   I LOST MY INTERNET CONNECTION YESTERDAY MID MORNING.  WELL, I HAD IT BUT NOTHING WOULD LOAD.  I KEPT THINKING IT WAS MY COMPUTER BUT THEN I REALIZED IT WAS JUST THE INTERNET THINGS THAT WOULD NOT LOAD.  SO LAST EVENING I RESET THE WIRELESS ROUTER AND FINALLY I WAS BACK IN BUSINESS.  HAD TO DO THE SAME THING THIS MORNING.  I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS UP WITH THAT BUT IT IS ANNOYING AS ALL HECK.
DOROTHY...I AM STILL PRAYING FOR YOU SIL.  I AM HOPING THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING LESS INVASIVE FOR HER.  WOW, SOUNDS LIKE YOU AND MIKE HAD LOTS OF ENERGY TODAY.
MARYANN, I DID WRITE ABOUT MY WEEKEND.  IT MAY BE AT THE END OF THE JANUARY PAGES.  ALSO PLEASE CHECK THAT YOU HAVE GOTTEN ALL TAGS I HAVE MADE.  I THINK YOU MAY HAVE MISSED ONE, BUT I COULD BE WRONG.  I MOVED THEM TO THE SIGGY REQUEST PAGE.

I thought I'd share Thursday Morning's Horizon.

Looks like fire, or perhaps something from a Disaster Movie, don't you think?

Downtown Denver, telescoped of course.

Mary Ann, I think Sinus headaches hurt as bad as migranes ~ of course I don't get migranes so what do I know.   I do know I used to get sinus headaches so bad that I lost vision.   The old SinuTab that they don't make anymore used to be the only thing that would knock it.   I'm darned lucky I don't get them anymore because I have no idea how I would knock them.   Hope yours goes away and stays away!

Ann won't let you keep the temp above freezing because her bills are too high?   Of course that is her decision, but I don't think it's a good one.   It's ridiculous for you to sit there with your hands literally aching with cold.    (I'll hush up now, before I say too much)

Sending LIFTING thoughts, annnieM.

Snow finally started ~ 6 hours later than predited.

Lou Ann, great minds indeed ~ both of us posting at the same time, and at NIGHT. I do love the edit feature that lets me go back and say hello.

Oh, your poor mom! What a horrid thing to have to endure. I swear if she doesn't have a bleed they are going to give her one! I'm so sorry she has to go through all this. Does one of your sisters drive her?

Another beautiful border!   You are da border Queen!   Ok if I snag?

Night, All

D.

Ah, I answered my own question, when I asked if I could snag your border.

Another wonderful Valentine!   I love it!
Thanks so much!

Oh ~ BTW.   I did finish the last Sweets book yesterday.   I liked it, but I didn't love it, and that was a bit disappointing.   I wanted to love it.

The first half had too much work in the bakery and not enough Box (lol).   Then it picked up and moved well.    I questioned why she behaved as she did, and I can only guess she wasn't  ready and was making excuses.   Not satisfying, but still over all a good read.

What did you think?

Thanks again so much for the lovely tag!

Hello sweet friends! how are you all doing?
I've missed you and wanted to pop in and say hi even though it's been such a shamefully long time.

the forum looks beautiful.

my life has been hectic and difficult. feel pulled from all ends and there's nothin left of me to pull.

am still having health problems. changed doctors. have another dr who's trying to get the blood pressure under control. it's down quite a bit from what it was. still have more to go.
arthritis in my knees has me in a real mess. it's been a real trial.
I fell and couldn't get up annnieM. I thought of you. we didn't know what we were going to do. sat on the floor for three hours.. finally realized I could butt walk out the sliding glass door and hang my legs over back steps and slide down with walker and walk.  Vern and brother had just built new steps in the front for me that were only 3 inches high and wide enough to get up using walker. so had to take a hike around the house to the front to get back in the house.  there's no end to the difficulties.  being so overweight makes it a thousand times worse.

enough about me. tell me what's been going on.. looks like everyone's ok.. from what little I've seen.
man I've missed you guys! didn't realize till I got here.

love n hugs to you all.

Hi gals.  All I can say for sure is I have survived the week.  We also got through to the lift representative and even though it isn't here we have her assurance that it is going to be shipped as soon as it's fixed.  What a hassle.  On the other hand, Dave coming home every day at lunch has also been a hassle.  We have had several other problems so he does not have his hours in and will have to work Saturday.  My comfort keeper was here yesterday and in 3 hours she stripped my bed and washed the sheets and the mattress pad, helped me make stuffed peppers, cleaned out my silverware drawer and the junk drawer and help me make out a grocery list.  She is wonderful!  My mom has been out three days and we have watched movies and visited.  I guess I need to put an ad in the paper as Brandi has not called back and I have no other ideas.  If only we had the lift.

Zarah made it home from her honeymoon but they did not come pick up Katie.  I may be at the end of my taking care of Katie days as she wants so much attention.  I have been just exhausted all week and I have not had one nap.  Nothing is routine any more.  My life as I knew it truly has ended.

Hi everyone!  Thank you for the presents Lou Ann and Bonnie!  Love you all,

annnieM

By 8AM we had 12.4 inches, and the snow was coming down in Arvada at 3.8 inches per hour. It's still coming.

Lisa is here. She said she didn't have too much trouble until she got to our driveway. They are already out shoveling and ploughing our neighborhood. The city, of course, is not, at least here.

I hope because her car is in our drive we still do get dug out! Hopefully they will come back and do it again.

Snoopwiggy the cat didn't know what to make of the snow. No, that isn't a Storm Door, that's where the snow was pushed up against the door to the deck.

The deck

The grill, and that box to the right is a storage chest, about knee high with a level top.

Out the front door.
Too much snow on the porch for me to get good pics.

From the basement Patio when I went downstairs to work out on the Theracycle.
