Ho! Ho! Ho!    Better late than never?
Happy First Day of Advent.

I had another of those sleepless nights last night, so I stayed in bed later in the morning.  Shogun came and curled up next to me, head on my arm, purring.  That's 'normal' for most cats, but not so much for the Shogun.  He curls up next to me overnight, but he hates to be held so any hint tht he might be held sends him on his way.  This morning I rested my hand on him, and he stayed and purred.  There may be hope yet.

My appointment at the EP clinic went well, not that I didn't expect it to.  They are way overextended so from now on I will only have to come in once a year to have my heart paced, and the other times I can have the defibrillator read from home.  She said everything looked purrrfect, and my battery was in good shape.  I had one incident of my heart beating fast enough for the device to monitor it (October 1, 6-something-A.M) but not fast enough to need "treatment".  (Translate treatment to a very mild shock that I might not feel, and if that doesn't do it, a ZAP.)   Anyway, I'm good to go!

We dropped off the Christmas cards at the Post Office and drove by The Lot.   The last time we were there they had flags posted to indicate where not to dig, and this time they had the lot staked and a Telephone Man was splicing something.   Could this be what progress looks like?

Then on to the Briarwood in Golden for lunch.  They used to have the most wonderful meals and high teas, but the last couple of times it hasn't been up to the standard we expected, and the menu had changed not in a positive way.  This time the menu was wonderful, and so was the food.  It's always beautifully decorated this time of year.  We had a lovely time.   We also had a glass of wine, which meant that when we got home I was worthless.  I can not drink during the daylight hours.  LOL

annnieM, good luck at the Urologist.  It doesn't sound like a whole bunch of fun, but if you can get relief and be able to enjoy your life more, it's a wonderful idea!   I think I got up six times last night (or at least it seemed like that much) and I thought of you.  I don't do that too often, at least not so many times, and it was a serious pain in the tush!

Wonderful to know that John's second knee surgery went so much better than the first!  That first one was a nightmare!  It's a wonder he was willing to try it again.

Oooh, a Siggy Dare.  I definitely need something to motivate me.   There are so many house-type things I should be doing, but I need to take time to smell the roses (or make the siggys) too.

I did imagine a lighted real tree out of your back window.  You don't have any trouble having a lighted artificial one outside?   I'd love to have a couple of small lighted ones at our new place, but I wasn't sure I could.

Is Zarah getting or giving French Horn lessons?

Lou Ann, thank you for the new word game!   It took me ages to get through my email tonight and then to post here and in one other group, so I won't try it out tonight, but I'll look forward to playing tomorrow.  Thanks!

It does seem funny to think of no snow where we live.  I think maybe that's a nice fantasy.  ha.

I really did think of you today at the Briarwood.  They had trees in every room and garland and fancy centerpieces everywhere.  The tree in the big dining room where we were had zillions of white lights and lots of white tulle (or something like that) and ornaments.   It really was lovely, but it was huge and the lights, at least from my seat way across the room, were not excessively bright.  I told Mike about your tree and took a picture of it ~ which I haven't downloaded yet.   I mentioned the gold garland to him and he winced.  LOL.   Not that it won't be lovely, just that we both understand liking the multi colored lights and old traditional looking trees with a mixture of all kinds of ornaments.  That's our preference too.   Kidding aside, I'm sure your tree is lovely, and the white and gold are elegant and beautiful.

I think we're going to watch the new-to-us Jim Carey Christmas Carol movie tonight.   One more added to the many many different versions we have.   I never get tired of it.

Night all.  See you in the A.M.

Good Morning!

Looks like another nice day here.  I need to do a lot of budget work today and I'm not looking forward to it.  Still, that's what keeps us able to stay retired (or so I tell myself).

Have a Teriffic Thursday.

Sorry I was missing in action.  It's been a very busy couple of days, what with Zarah's birthday and my doctors appointments.  We went to the urologists pa, and I fully expected to come home catheterized but we just talked.  The pa's name was Eric and he was a very nice guy, and answered all my questions.  He said that Dave could indeed do the deed, and that was nice to know.  From there we went and filled the prescription the pa gave us for all the supplies, and went home to Zarah's birthday party.  Dave made chili and cornbread, and we invited my folks out.  We also had a chocolate cake with chocolate chip frosting!  Zarah teaches French horn lessons to aspiring musicians--- high school kids.  We gave her a couple CDs that she wanted, a gift certificate to her favorite bagel and coffee shop, a little carrying case for her tiny computer and an artisian bread cookbook that she wanted.  I'm pretty sure my folks gave her money, but I didn't see, really.  After she left, we played pinochle and mom and I won.  After they left I had Dave watch the video again, on how to insert a catheter, and then we did it.  Piece of cake.  I was tickled pink to not have to get up in the night.  I love being able to drink all that I want whenever I want!  I absolutely love the freedom!  I had not even thought about a leg bag, but I have that and I'm using it during the day and it's wonderful.  You would not even know.  I'm a happy camper!

Thank you Barb for the absolutely wonderful opening page and thank you Dorothy for starting us out!  Thank you Lou Ann for the word search!

Hi Dorothy!  Glad that your EP appointment went well and that you had a lovely lunch at the Briarwood.  I'm glad that it has bounced back and is wonderful again!  I suppose in the scheme of things, it's not much fun to go to the urologist but it has been wonderful for me!  The night before I went to the bathroom four times during the night.  I was so ready to be done with that!  We do not have any trouble putting a lighted tree out back.  We are windy sometimes, but it's staked well.  Thank you for mentioning the new Jim Carrey Christmas carol.  I need to put some of those in my netflix queue.  I told Dave the other day I needed to watch Little Women, as that has Christmas in it, a bit.  I have watched A Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart already.  That's all I've gotten watched.  I'm pretty sure that we are going to go to the movie theater to watch Harry Potter tomorrow night, something I wasn't able to do before.  I'm pretty excited!  Good luck with your budget work!

Hi Lou Ann!  Thanks again for the wonderful word search game!  Sorry that you're having trouble getting in here.

I got an e-mail from Debbie:

Hello annnieM/ladies...
I have been in vocational training and fixing a torn meniscus in my knee
Always at war with Jay about one thing or another $$
And missing you all
It's late but I pray everyone had a blessing thanksgiving

I'm trying to find niashia singing to share with you all
I'm so proud of her

I miss you all
By the way ...they are going to get me a prosthetic arm...  Amazing after all these years
So that I can work
I've been without meds for over two months
Hot flashes are crazy...  Miss you all so much
All my love
Debbie

Hello Ladies
Hey Dorothy...I always knew there was hope for Shogun.    He just needs to do some growing up :)
Glad the EP Clinic went well and that your Briar-
wood reward was not a disappointment.  As far as
a lighted tree in the yard. just make sure it the lights
say the are indoor/outdoor.  Then you will be fine.
Oh sure, rub in the Christmas card thing!  Shame on you, lol.  You are right about the Christmas tree.
So time will tell is we like the gold beaded garland,
since my sister keeps forgetting to bring it over.
I have bit seen Jim Carey's Christmas Carol. I do
not know why, but he makes me very uncomfortable.
But he is so talented.
annnieM, I am so happy that the indwelling cath
gives you the freedom you have been wanting.
It will be so worth it, now that it means there are
less restrictions on when and where you can go.
Sounds as if Zarah's BD Party went well and YAY
that the girls won at cards.  You all are most
welcome for the word search.  I am trying to think
of other games we can play as long as we are there.
Did I tell you all we got snow.  Yeppers, we did.
Not alot...pretty much all in the grassy areas but
it has stayed since it has been so cold.  Well, time
for me to call it a night.
Hugs,

Where are you ladies?  It's lonely here.
"Can't help myself, I need you and nobody else."
Ok, I think solitary is making me go crazy.
Not much going on in my neck of the woods
other than it is cold!!!!
Mom is going to my Aunt Sandy's in Illinois
this weekend with my sister Diane.  She is
worried that she may not be up to it.  But she
is going to give it a go.  So I will have more
"alone" time this weekend.  Maybe I will finally
watch HP and the Half-blood Prince.
Sounds like a plan to me :)
I hope you are all well.

Good Morning!

Lou Ann, thank you so much for the beautiful tags!   I love them!

annnieM, I was actually shocked that Dave could put the indwelling catheter in for you!    Now I have to google and learn how it works.   It really sounds like such a good thing.   I need to research!    It will be wonderful for you to be able to sleep through the night and go to the movies and restaurants without worry!   I'm really happy for you!

Wonderful to hear from Debbie, and how exciting that she is going to get a prosthetic arm after all this time!   I'm sure it will be a big adjustment, but I hope ultimately it is really great for her.  I hope we do get to hear Niashia sing.  Thanks for sharing her letter!

Lou Ann, I am going to have to watch the Jim Carey Christmas Carol again, probably several times.   I'm not sure why, but I didn't love it.   Often when that happens it has more to do with the mood I'm in than the quality of the movie, so I will definitely try it again.   For my first viewing, it seemed to lack the sweetness I've come to expect from any version of A Christmas Carol.  We must have a dozen versions on DVD or tape, from the old classics to the musical (Albert Finney, my favorite) to animated ones.   This one didn't give me the Warm Fuzzies I expect.   As I said, we'll watch it again, and maybe like it better.   It got rave reviews, but I think a lot of the current audiences have different expectations than we do.

LOL ~ I can hear you singing, and believe me I know that song.  LOL.

We're going to rewatch the last two Harry Potters, and then maybe on Tuesday go and see the new one.   Maybe.

As you know, I haven't done anything for Christmas online.  Hopefully I'll get motivated soon.
Would you mind if I stole the word game you posted to post in my other group?  Those folks are so neglected, and I know they would live it.    Let me know if it would be ok.  Ok?

Sorry I didn't make it in yesterday.  Oh my, what an exhausting . . . but good . . day.   Lisa came in the morning and was in a very chatty mood.  She has her issues with the IRS straightened out and was in good spirits.   I came upstairs when she was still here to get online and get some things done, but accomplished little until after she left.

The day before I'd gotten the revised price list from the Design Center and almost made like one of those cartoon characters, with their feet in the air and x's over their eyes.  Lord have Mercy!   We went over the list and took as much as we could out of our shopping cart, but still the price is way higher than we had anticipated.   I composed an email to Stacy at the Design Center telling her what we needed to lose and asking a few questions about other things.   Had a serious headache by the time I had finished.

Two asprin and on to Designer Homes to pick up the revised drawing of our basement addition.   I had detailed what we want and followed it up with an email and still, while it was a lot closer, it wasn't right.   I could feel Dave's frustration but I held my ground and very nicely said what we had asked for was . . .
When he accepted that we weren't going to just take the design 'asis' and leave, he started drawing and came up with something that will work just fine for us.   It's $2K more than I had said was our top limit, but since it's going to work very well, I'm gonna scramble and find the extra $2K.

We talked about a few other issues, and it's clear that until they are actually doing the framing they can't think about that.  Ok.  As long as we get input before they get the framing done.  I think the way they work is the norm, but it makes me crazy.  They make houses all the time.  This is the one and only house we are building.  I just can't be casual about it.  Aaaaack.

Anyway, we left the office with big smiles on our faces ~ AND the knowledge that they are going to dig our hole on Monday!  The 'Digger' is already parked on the next lot!

We ran a few more errands and then went to dinner at that new Chicken place Lisa introduced us to, and brought home leftovers plus carry out for tonight.  Yay!

On the way home, we drove through the new neighborhood because I just knew our neighbors-to-be would decorate for Christmas, and they do.  Beautifully.   I tried to take pictures, but taking pictures of lights at night from a moving car isn't terribly effective.   Just trust me, it was as pretty as our neighborhood.

We also saw what our view will be at night in the winter with all the leaves off of our back yard (and down lower) neighbor's trees.  City lights as far as the eye can see.  I don't honestly know what cities ~ Denver is to the right, and I guess it's just the rest of the burbs ahead and to the left.  Anyway, pretty!   I'll betcha that on New Year's Eve we'll be able to see the fireworks from downtown Denver.

All in all a good day.  Still lots of questions and we have gone so far over budget that it's frightening.   On the one hand, how stupid!   On the other hand, if not now, when?   We really do feel this is the last house we will ever move into, and we should make it the best we can.  It's just that times are so  uncertain.

Well, you can see why I didn't get online yesterday.   It got VERY tired out!

Wanna hear about some crazy weather?  This was yesterday.

Denver tied a record high temperature today, equaling a mark set more than 100 years ago.

The city's high temperature, recorded at Denver International Airport, reached 69 degrees at 11:41 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

T
he last time the temperature climbed to 69 degrees in Denver on Dec. 3 was in 1885.

The normal high temperature for this date in Denver is 49 degrees, according to the weather service.

Today, it's FREEZING!

Love 'n hugs,

Hi gals!
Lou Ann I absolutely love the new signatures and the borders the match them!  Sorry that I left you all by yourself.  Sorry that I haven't created anything yet.  It has been very cold and snowy here, too.  I hope that your mom manages the trip this weekend, and that you get to watch your Harry Potter DVD.

Hi Dorothy!  I was kind of surprised they would let Dave put the catheter in me also, but both my general practitioner and the urologists PA said he could, so I figured it must be easy enough and I would be here to keep him in line.  LOL.  I'm thinking having it is a really good thing and this is only day three or four.  Isn't that great about Debbie getting a prosthetic arm!  I hope it works wonderfully well for her!  I'm glad that you talked through all your issues with your new home and that you left with a smile on your face!  Also glad to hear that your new neighborhood decorates for Christmas and that your view is going to be wonderful!  I definitely can see why you didn't get online and I'm tired just reading about all your running around!

Yesterday I had yet another doctor's appointment, and now I hope I am done with doctor appointments for a while.  I'm all tuckered out.  Afterwards we stopped to say hi to Lindsy who works at the pharmacy that is connected to the clinic.  They are going to a play tonight at BHSU, Babes in Toyland.  By the time we were done talking we agreed to meet them for dinner and then said we would go to the play.  This morning is starting out very rocky so I'm not sure it will happen.  I had a list a mile long of things I wanted done before we went to Casper, and Dave is out hooking up someone's WIFI.  That wasn't part of my plans.  Anyway, then we stopped at my folks apartment yesterday, took lunch and played another game of cards and we gals won again.  It was a good day, if a bit busy.  Today I wanted to get my Christmas tree up and 100 other things and it doesn't look like that's going to be happening.  I can't do it myself and Dave is doing other things for other people.  I'll let you know tomorrow how it turned out.  Wishing everyone a spectacular Saturday.  Hugs,

No, we don't have snow, but it does seem Wintery.   This morning they discussed La Nina on TV, and the indication is that the Gulf Stream will push the bad weather up and our area will have mild weather this Winter.  That could be a really big deal because after the hole has been dug for our house, the temps need to be above 30 degrees for the cement to be poured and harden, and no snow would help too.   My poor friends and family in Omaha and Minnesota and Wisconsin will be making the sacrifice of taking the bad weather so we can have a house.

annnieM, ah Dr's appointments.  The funnest things in life ~ NOT!   At least they are over for a while.   Mine are too ~ hallalua.  I do have a dentist appoingment in January, so I guess I shouldn't relax just yet.  Ha.

Somehow I missed that you are going to Casper.  When is that?
Did you get to the concert last night?  Was it lovely?   Did you get your tree up?   Enquiring mnds want to know.  :-)

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

HELLO LADIES
I DID COME BACK YESTERDAY AND READ EVERYTHING AND FELL ASLEEP.  SO WHEN I WOKE I DECIDED THE BEST THING FOR ME WAS BED.  WHICH I DID.
SO NOW TO CATCH UP.
DOROTHY, THIS IS TOO FUNNY.  I TOO LOVE A CHRISTMAS CAROL, ANY VERSION, BUT MY FAVORITE IS ALSO THE MUSICAL VERSION WITH ALBERT FINNEY.  I DO NOT HAVE IT THOUGH.  MOM THOUGHT SHE WAS GETTING IT FOR ME ONCE AND IT WAS THE ONE WITH KELSEY GRAMMER.  I STILL WANT TO GET IT.  WERE THEY TRYING FOR THE STORY OR WERE THEY GOING FOR LAUGHS WITH JIM CAREY?  I WATCHED THE FIRST 4 HARRY POTTERS ON SATURDAY ON TV.  AND THEY WERE THE EXTENDED VERSIONS WITH SCENES THAT HAD BEEN CUT FROM THE THEATER VERSIONS.  TODAY WAS TO BE THE REST BUT MY SISTER SHOWED UP WITH MY NEPHEW TO DO HER LAUNDRY (HER WASHER IS ON THE FRITZ) AND SHE WRAPPED HER PRESENTS SO THEY MORE OR LESS TOOK CONTROL OF THE TV.  SO NOT MORE HP.  JUST THINK, A YEAR FROM NOW ALL THERE HOUSE ISSUES WILL BE BEHIND YOU AND YOU WILL BE ENJOYING YOUR 1ST CHRISTMAS IN YOUR BEAUTIFUL NEW HOME :)  YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO USE ANY GAME I POST HERE.  I MADE IT ON LINE AND CREATED THE WORD LIST THINKING ABOUT SNOW.
HI ANNNIEM, MY MOM MANAGED THE
WEEKEND JUST FINE.  SHE SHOPPED WITH THEM ON SATURDAY BUT PASSED ON SUNDAYS SHOPPING AS SHE KNEW

Good Morning, and welcome to a brand new week!

And in the 'Can't win for losing' category, I wrote my first post of the day here and then went on to post in the other group.  I came back here rather by accident to check on my finally-updated Avatar, and saw that my post wasn't here.   I must have left without hitting post.   Aarrgghhhh.

Lou Ann, I wrote mostly to you, but I'm not sure I can remember all of what I said.  Just know I chatted at length with you.  8^(

I'm glad your mom had a good weekend, but sorry you didn't get to see the rest of the Harry Potters.

Thank you for letting me take your word game to post in the other group.   I know everyone will love it!

I accomplished almost nothing over the weekend, though I worked very hard at doing (or not doing) it.  Ack.

I got a letter from a Recycling Group and our Builder today offering Recycling service in the new neighborhood.   We currently pay $6 a quarter for weekly pick up, and they will charge $7 a month for twice a month pick up.  Still . . . I emailed and told them we would be interested after we moved in.   Mike always grumbles about the recycling, but I asked him if he wanted to do it in the new place, and he was very positive that he did.

Today we get to go and see our Hole!   (That really doesn't sound good, does it?   LOL).  Ridiculous the things that excite me these days.  I suspect I'll have to wait a week to hear from the Design Center on the changes and corrections I sent Stacy on Friday, and then maybe after I've sent her another note.   Honestly, it's like pulling teeth.

Oh, well.  Today we see the Hole.  (guffaw.  snort).  I think we'll go to BJ's for a dinner of appetizers afterwards.

Have a Mahvelous Monday, y'all!

Hello Dorothy
Losing your post that way had to be irritating.  Thanks for addressing so much of it to me :)  I found you to be a witty and charming as you always are.  Maybe even more so, lol.  Your avatar is darling.  We do not pay anything for recycling pick up and it is mandatory here and is picked up every other week.   I hope your hole is lovely and gives you goosebumps knowing how beautiful is will be.  Also hoping you can work everything out with the plans so that both sides are satisfied.
Enjoy your BJ appetizers.  Yum yum I am sure.

I did not do much of anything today.  I got mom to write her newsletter for the Christmas Cards so tomorrow I will print them up.  Also tweak the card list and get those labels printed.  I could not get it to print right on the envelopes last year.  Our different programs are not compatible I guess.  We have to remember to get stamps.   My nurse friends are coming over Wed evening and we will finally be celebrating my birthday.  So we will do Christmas in Jan.  We have not gotten together in a while as Gloria and some issues with a very sick mother and her husband has taken a fall from a horse so her time was not her own for quite a while.  We have a lot of catching up to do.  So I need to do some sprucing up the house.

I hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Hugs,

Border by Dorothy
