RE:Lou Ann's Journey to a Healthier Life.
(Date Posted:01/20/2009 12:53 PM)

I have to say that I need to do this to save my life,
I know in my heart that if I keep going at my current rate I
will not have many years left.  I weight my highest weight ever.
I feel it with every step and breath I take,
I am going to be doing a lot of writing here in an effort to make
myself think about what I am eating and doing to my body.
So today I start with what I have eaten so far today.
Breakfast
1 cup peaches, no sugar added.
Water

Lunch
! sandwich...1 slices while wheat bread, mustard
and one slice summer sausage lunch meat.
3 dill pickle wedges.
1 Diet Rite Cola
I did a calorie count on the above including breakfast and
I am under 300 calories,   the summer sausage was not that bad,
though I di not look at fat content, lol.
Ok, I looked at fat.   6.2 grams.  Cal 71
They consider 2 slices a serving
and I only ate one.

That's it for now.  I know the summer sausage is not my best choice
but it is a fav and mom bought it for me.  If I watch the other things
it should be ok,  It is my evenings that I really eat all the wrong things.
This is my start.  Wish me luck,
Lou Ann

Ok, I totally blew it this afternoon.  Mom made me a bowl of Butter Pecan Ice Cream.
It was definitely a 2 scooper at 280 calories a scoop. Wow, thats 560 calories.
Not the way to go is it?  I have no will power.  That makes 860 calories today so far
and supper to go and after, which is my worst time.  Lord give me strength.

smiley20You have to take each day... one at a time.  Forget about the ice cream yesterday and start all over today!

Did Kathy send you the Spark People information?  If you join there you can keep track of your food and they compute the calories and they have all kinds of inspirational articles and a blog... just tons of stuff!  If you want I can send you the information.

annnieM, I do belong to Spark, but have not set up anything.  I just get the e-mails.
I will look into it.  Thanks for the info.  Hugs, Lou Ann

annnieM, I am using the food chart on Spark now and that works great!!!
I love how it calculates everything for you.  A little hard on the homemade food.
I have to guess what would be similiar but it is close enough.

I have not been doing well.   Seems I just give in in the middle of the night
and eat anything in sight.  I am so disgusted with myself.  Heaven knows
what will happen when I weigh myself later today.  Sigh....
A new day, a new beginning......
Hugs, Lou Ann

Hi Lou Ann.

Sorry I hardly ever have been in here. I'm sure no help, support wise. I have been using Spark People's food charts regularly for a long time now. It's hard to really know about my progress because I only get on the scale once in a blue moon because it's so difficult... but last time I was on I was below 200 pounds for the first time in ages! So I have probably lost 15 to 20 pounds. It's so slow because I'm so sedentary. I get discouraged.

Since I can't do much cooking I buy what ever diet meals are on sale... weight watchers or lean cuisine or eating right... and I find that works for me because it's just me lots of the time and I have to have something easy. Microwaving is easy! They also have the calories right on them... works for me! I am so cheap that I like to get my meals for two dollars or so... so I'm always shopping around... but I am lucky in the fact that Dave does provide well... and it doesn't bother him to buy me meals. I think it bothered him more to have to cook for me. LOL.

I'm sorry you're having a hard time. Evenings are so hard for me too... Dave is always having ice cream or nachos or something that I like and I have to pass by. I do find that since I have been watching what I eat I feel awful when I pig out. That's good. Anyway, I can be your diet buddy and check in more often... if that would help. All I am doing is watching my food intake... and trying to peddle every day on my little peddle machine. How are you doing?

Hugs,
