There are many things that we can do in MSN that we can't do in Aimoo, like using the tables to create borders.   Aimoo doesn't have as many font and text color choices, although we have asked for more fonts and we may get them one day.  There are other differences, but there are some pretty cool things about Aimoo, too.

* As you have already seen, we can copy and paste a border.  We could do that in MSN too, of course, but you can't in many of the Hosting Sites.

* You can use a Quick Reply if you are in a hurry, but if you want full editing features, use the 'regular' Reply.

* We can post a graphic directly from our accounts in Photobucket.   That's a nice feature!  Click on the icon in the second line of your tool bar that looks like a camera, and it will take you directly to your own personal Photobucket.  Select your graphic and insert directly into your post.

* We have a Spell Checker.   It's that icon on the second line of your tool bar that looks like a check mark with ABC above it.   It will highlight any misspellings and offer suggestions for corrections.    A word of warning, though ~ if you use it on a post that has graphics, it will attempt to edit the spelling of your graphic or border, too, and the results are sometimes less than desirable.

* You can highlight some of your text.

* We can have an Avatar.  Oh, but you already knew that, didn't you?

* You can add a Signature with a graphic, text or even the Weather Thingy, just like you can in Bonnie's Pro Board site.   (Thanks for teaching us how to do that, Bonnie)

* We can use the marquee html code to make text or a graphic move either your signature or in your post, like we can in Pro Board site.  How fun is that?

* This is a biggie.   You can EDIT your post.   Say you submit your post and then realize you've used the wrong person's name or said something differently than you intended.   Open the post and click on the inverted carat next to "Actions".  It will bring up a pull down menu.   Select Edit, then click on Go, and you are back in your original post, ready for a do-over.  When you're satisfied, click on edit and it's re-posted, all cleaned up.  There will be a line saying you edited the post, but no clue as to what you changed.

*  You can delete a post altogether without leaving a trace.  Kewl Beans.  In the Action Pull Down, click on Delete, then Go, and Poof.  Your post is gone without a trace.

There are lots of other nice features.   I'll use the edit feature to add them here when I think of them, and of course everyone else can add the features they like.

you know what else you can do through that photobucket icon?

click the camera icon in the tool bar above the text box
a photobucket window appears with your photobucket in it. (how did they know?)

click the pic you want to insert here in the text box then click "insert media" button

Cool part.

if you have something on your hardrive you can even upload it .....through this little window,
off your hard drive, and into photobucket! and then insert here in your text box,
which is what I just did with the little dog up there.

it's super fast.

these crazy modern inventions. what they won't think of next.
this old disosaur is impressed.

Of course I use the insert Image from Photobucket all the time.  Great feature.   I don't seem to understand how to insert something into Photobucket from my Hard Drive and then into the post.

When I click on Search (either Images or My Albums) at the top, I'm told no Search Results Found.   Are you talking about something else?  Am I missing the point completely?   lol

Thanks, Bonnie.   Honestly, I seem to be making a career of making things hard for myself lately.   LOL

We need to establish a learning center and a place to put tips and tricks like this so we can find them easily.   I'll work on that.

Thanks again.

I can't seem to get this to work for me.  Do you have to have your photo bucket open?  When I put in my name and password  it says login failed.  What am I doing wrong?

Using the Photobucket Icon from the Message Toolbar to Insert an Image from your Photobucket Account.

1) Click New Topic if creating a new thread, or click on Reply at the top or bottom of an existing thread.  Do not use Quick Reply or you won't get the Message Toolbar.

2) Click on the Photobucket icon.

 01ClickonthePhotbucketIcon.jpg picture by Aimoo_

3) The first time you use it, you will need to sign into your Photobucket account.

     03SignintoPhotobucket.jpg picture by Aimoo_

If you have more than one Photobucket account, after clicking on the Photobucket icon in the message toolbar, you can click on
Log Out if you are already signed in.  Log in with the account you want to access.

4) Click on the drop down arrow adjacent to Album and select the Album you require.

5) If you have more than one Album or Sub Albums, click the drop down arrow enough times until you reach the required Album.

07SelectSubAlbum.jpg picture by Aimoo_
Between each selection, the screen will flicker so wait until that happens before clicking the arrow again.  It takes a couple of seconds for it to register.

6) Once you reach an album with images in it, the message "There is no content in this album" will disappear and you will see the first of the thumbnails in that particular album.

      08ClickonThumbnailthenonInsertMedia.jpg picture by Aimoo_

This is where it helps to know your images as they are not as clear as they are when viewing them directly in your Photobucket Album, although you can click on Zoom to get a closer look.

7) Use the single arrow to move forward > or backwards < to the next/previous six images or the double arrows to move to the very end >> and vice versa <<.

8) Click once on the thumbnail of the image you wish to insert into your message.  A blue border will appear around it, as in the screenshot above, then click on Insert Media.

If for some reason Insert Media does not work, click on Zoom below the thumbnail.  This will open/enlarge the image then you can right click on it, then left click on Copy.  In your message, Control v to paste it.

If you have not yet uploaded your image to Photobucket, you can do that without the need to go to your Photobucket site separately.

Using the drop down arrow as above, locate the album in which you wish to place your image.  Click on Browse.  Locate the image on your computer, double click on it, then click on Upload.  You may proceed from there.

If, when viewing your thumbnails, you get lost or confused, easy to do if you have a lot of albums and/or lots of images in one album, you can click on View Album to view your images.  Click on the required thumbnail and copy and paste as above.

This is still a neat way of accessing your Album as Aimoo will open it in a separate window.

RE:What you can do in Aimoo

Looks to me like you've already found your Avatar ~ it's adorable.  You can use almost anything for an Avatar.  It needs to be about 100 x 100, and if you don't "shrink" it, Aimoo will.   Usually that isn't a problem, but if you try to use something really big, it could become distorted.   You can use smilies or a favorite smaller tag, or here are a few "Gorjuss" ones I made if you see anything you'd like.

Now about inserting images ~ yes you need to post them from Photobucket or another Share site like Folkti.  Most of us use Photobucket, because you can insert them directly from within your post ~~ OR of course you can copy and paste them if they have been stored on Photobucket.   The Avatars above, for example, are all stored on Photobucket, so you can copy and paste them just like you could in MSN.

Once you have a  Photobucket account, you can add an image from your Hard Drive to Photobucket and then upload it into a post, all without leaving your open reply in Aimoo!   Kewl, huh?

Do you have a Photobucket Account yet?

D.
