Yep, rain, rain, rain and gloom.  So dreary all day. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. Sun. we had some sun and mom and I sat out on the porch for a couple of hours. It was so nice out though mom started getting cold so we came in. It has been so humid all the time which makes me miserable and mom insists on the door being open. She just does not get it. Oh well. When it gets to bad I will start going into my room. So I really should work on it, lol. Procrastination thy name is Lou Ann!

We do not have acorn. My mom HATES Criminal Minds.  I catch up on it via On Demand on Sunday Mornings while she is at church and other times if she is out. I am so looking forward to her being gone, lol.  But they have shortened their trip as they felt they were at Leigh's too long last year. Mom did not notice but Diane felt they had overstayed their welcome.  I think Diane was tired of trying to entertain the boys. They stuck to her like glue every waking moment, lol. So now they are leaving on the 7th and be home late on the 19th. They are going to go as far as my Aunt Sandy on Sunday and enjoy some time with her and leave from her place the next day. That will take 2 hrs off of the long trip.

No new tags today. I have to tag a bunch of my older tags for a Secret Sister event in my CDO group. I will use the tags I make for a different group so they will be new to them. That group has not posted this weeks challenges and CDO's will post on Tues. So nothing new today.

Big Hugs to my Big Sister,

Good Morning!
Mike has an appointment with his Neurologist this morning and we have to leave earlier than usual because his Doctor moved to a hard-to-get-to place, so I will make this quick.

It's supposed to get to the high 80's today but they just predicted some high wind storms this morning (oh joy) and maybe some isolated thunder storms.   Heading for the 90's for the rest of the week ~

Watching the news ~ honestly is there ever any GOOD news anymore?  Hackers hacked supposedly super-secure on line password storage company, lots of flooding, those two kids in Florida who were attached by sharks in waist deep water and both lost arms ~ hard to understand why they are keeping the beaches open ~ a balcony in CA collapsing and a bunch of kids from Ireland being killed or injured.   Please ~ show us some GOOD news!

Oh goodie.  Now they are bringing on that White Woman who has posed as a Black Woman working for the NAACP.   New phrase: 'TransRacial'. Lord love a duck!  LOL
smiley18

I don't know where I got the idea that you had Acorn, but I was SURE you did.  LOL.  I think I got you and my friend Shiela confused.  She has Acorn and Netflix but not Amazon Prime.  I should stop talking about shows that aren't on the mainstream.   Some days I'm not sure what WE have.  Ha.

I HATE humidity!  You have no idea how much I DON'T miss it!  When we used to drive back to Iowa, I was always reminded of how much I didn't miss humidity.   Of course there are problems with the lack of humidity, but they are much easier for me to deal with.  You have my sympathy and empathy!

I'm kind of glad your mom and Diane have shortened their trip a bit.  I think you will enjoy being in control of the TV and temperature and even food for a while, but I know it will get lonely too.

I'd best get going so I will be ready when Mike is.  Have a lovely day.

RE:Welcome to June Chat!

The sun shone today and it did not get hot! It was 70's and lovely. About 9:20am we heard a big boom and all our electricity went out. It has happened before...we knew a transformer had blown and probably somewhere a poor squirrel lay dead somewhere. Jason was here to take a load of boxes to St. Vinnies so he decided to go out and check some of the area poles. He did not find anything though. He remembered it happening when he was a small boy here and they saw the poor squirrel laying dead in the neighbors yard. I actually was hoping to find a dead squirrel....BOYS!!!
I hope that Mike's appt went well and that only good news came of it. Where did you go for his reward meal??
I heard about the shark attacks but not the other stuff. I did see about Chinese hackers getting into security files and that could be a huge problem. Seems every time you take a breath something horrible happens. That may be because the good things usually do not make good news...gotta keep up the ratings.
That whole NAACP issue cracks me up. I think a lot of white youth identify with being black, as many grow up in poor neighborhoods and they all act alike...but they do not claim to be black. If she was doing a good job for them then maybe they all could have stepped back and looked at the situation and said...this is ok that she is white. If she never actually lied...though I think I may have see some black man posing as her father. Wonder why so many who knew never said anything and let it go and now suddenly her parents stepped up and someone else.  Very strange all in all.
We just have Amazon Prime and use Roku to access it. So I can only watch what I can get from Amazon. I like now how you can opt for less than 2 day delivery and get "money" toward ebook, movies, etc. So I have gotten $3.00 so far. The only thing is you cannot direct it or save it up...it auto deducts when you get any of those items. Still, that means when I buy a 99 cent book I get it free. I like that.
Yep, I too am glad they shortened the trip. I think I can deal with it since it is not so long. This tag was a June Summer Solstice challenge and we had to use a cluster frame freebie from the CDO blog...not many fit a summer theme. Chat with you tomorrow my sistah!!

Good Morning

Looks to be another bright, bright sunshiney day.  By Friday we should be in the mid 90's!

Mike's appointment with his Neurologist went well, mostly.  We got there early, and his Neurologist is always late so we expected a long wait time, but instead there had been a cancellation ahead of him so he got right in.  Dr was less chatty than usual but gave a more thorough exam and said that Mike was doing well except for his balance. (Sometimes don'tcha just want to say "I could have told you that"?)  He renewed all of Mike's meds for a year and shared the Bad News.  He's quitting.  Semi retiring.  He's only 57 but he said he couldn't handle being on call at the hospital every weekend.   He set Mike up with another Neurologist in his office, and made an appointment for 8 months from now, the same as last time.  The 8 month interval is a GOOD thing, indicating Mike is doing well.

I haven't told you about Mike's new bracelet. http://activeedgegear.com/blogs/active-edge-in-the-news/28414083-active-edge-technology-featured-on-foxnews-com

It sounds like a gimick, but darned if it isn't working.  I see a real change in his energy, sleep patterns and pain relief.  We both think he's even walking better!  Mike mentioned it to the Dr and he gave him a sort of blank look and said nothing.   LOL ~ makes me think of when I would tell my old Cardiologist of something I was doing like taking CoQ10, and Dr Breckenridge would say something like "Probably can't hurt".  LOL  I had hoped Mike's Dr would have some anecdotal information from his other patients, but apparently not. ;-)

We went to a new-to-us place for lunch called Jus Cookin.  It's good old comfort food, and it was really good.  We started with home made chicken noodle soup with a lovely thick broth instead of the watery stuff you usually get now.  I had chicken pot pie and Mike had a hot beef sandwich, that had carrots and onions in with the beef, served with 'real' mashed potatoes and gravy. Both were delish.  Then we had raspberry cobbler for dessert!    All in all, a good day.

We've had that happen too, a long time ago, with a transformer blowing.  Downright scary when it happens. Thank goodness your temperature was a lovely 70 and not 90 and steamy!   My friend Shiela is in Lake Havasau AZ and their temps are in the 115-117 range right now.  If she ever loses her AC, she's TOAST!

I think it's telling that now white people want to pass for black, like in the past black people who could passed for white.  Maybe it's time for us to get rid of the boxes, the ones that identify and separate us by our ethnicity or any other distinction and maybe just say "American citizen" on "Non Citizen".  While I'm sure ultimately that would be seen as discriminatory, it would actually make some sense because non-citizens should NOT have the same rights as citizens ~ like voting.  Maybe a box for sex, because I really don't want to share the ladies room with the men or crossdressers .

Do we still need to all be separated by our skin

color or sexual preference or things like that?

Can't we all just BE?  Divide and conquer, I

guess.

I can't imagine how hurt Rachel's father must have been when she introduced a black man as her father.  At first I just thought she was crazy, but it seems that she used it for her advantage in many situations.  That says there IS an advantage to being black (or any of the other special minority statuses), again proving ~ to me, anyway ~ that special status categories are no longer needed.  The world has all gone mad.

I think I'm going to make a Pasta salad for the

next couple of days when it's so hot.  Shauna

comes on Friday, and I know neither of us will

feel

like cooking or going out after she leaves.

Thank you for the great Summer Tag.  Have a

super day!

It was a very nice day out today.
OMG, that bracelet sounds fantastic. If it can reduce inflammation and increase O2 intake 23% then it would be fabulous for me. But a bit much to spend if it does not work. I am going to ask my Dr. what she thinks. I hope it really is helping Mike. It could help my mom too. He balance and range of motion are not good. Did I tell you see fell again? It was last week and she said she stood up and the next thing she knew she was on the ground. I was doing a breathing treatment and did not even hear her. I turned off my machine and looked over at her and she was on the floor.  I got the neighbors Chris and Scott to come help and even though Scott is a small guy he did it alone.  Though I had to steady mom and block her feet, he nearly lost her. Next time (Hope not but reality bites) I will insist 2 lift her.  I think she was not awake and stood up. She talks in her sleep all the time and I watch her and she is sewing and heaven knows what all else.  I think this because she did not know why she got up. Thankfully she was not hurt.
Ok, I am so tired I am falling asleep at the computer. Be back tomorrow to comment on more of your post.
Hugs,

Good Morning.  It looks overcast this morning, but we're supposed to be in the 90s today and for the upcoming week.  97 is forecast for tomorrow!  Yiikes.

Watching the shooting in S.C. Church on the news ~ horrible!  I also got a couple of emails this morning about how Mr Boehner is trying to ram Obama's Trade Bill through the house, and what a negative effect it will have on seniors who are hoping to see less expensive prescription drugs AND on Americans and legal immigrants who are looking for jobs, or who have been waiting in line for years to come to America.  The emails asked me to call my Representative.  That would do as much good as spitting in the Ocean.  I don't think he has ever voted the way I have asked him to.   Anyway ~ once again ~ is there any GOOD news out there?

I think I am going to put my hair color in today. I don't know when it has grown out or faded this badly.

I would like to try the bracelet myself, but I think your mom and I are out of luck.  It isn't approved for those with implanted devices ~ she does have one too, doesn't she?   It isn't that they know it would cause problems, but that it hasn't been tested to assure that it wouldn't.  It has been well worth the money for Mike ~ but of course you can't be sure it would be as effective for everyone.   He was having a lot of pain, arthritis-like, for want of a better description, and now he is not.   I'm sure that has something to do with his sleeping better, which in turn effects his increased energy level.  I don't mean that he is "healed", but I can really see a difference.  He's even walking better!
I suspect the best you will get from your Dr is something like my old Cardiologist would say when I'd tell him I was using something like CoQ10 ~~ "Well, it probably can't hurt".  LOL   If it isn't a prescription from a Drug Company, I don't think the medical community can trust it.  I though it looked very gimicky myself, but Mike has been having more trouble lately and I thought, like Dr Breckinridge, "It probably can't hurt."  Ha.  The worst it could do is waste money and make us feel foolish for getting tricked into buying it.  The thing that made me consider it and pass it on to Mike was that it was on the Michael J Fox Parkinson's site on Facebook.  They didn't endorse it, but they did put it up, which to me was a sort of endorsement.  Anyway, I endorse it!

I'm so sorry your mom fell again ~~~ and so glad that Chris and Scott are there and willing to come and help!  I fear that if one of us fell, the other would have an awful time getting the fallen up!   It's funny (not Ha-ha) about your mom sleep walking and sleep sewing and such.  Easy to see how she might get up and not even realize it, and not take normal precautions.  I'm glad she is ok, but I can imagine how you must worry.

I have been eating so badly lately that I don't even want to get on the scale.  I've got to get myself under control!   The restaurant we went to after Mike's appointment is waaay across town but it really was a nice surprise to find a place like that where the food is both good and not expensive.  Mike said his folks would have loved it.  It's probably good it isn't close because good old fashioned "home cooking" is heavily carb laden ~ that's what makes it so good!  Unfortunately, I'm alergic.  When I eat a lot of carbs, I break out all over ~~ in FAT!  :-(

Have a great day!
Love ya ~

Update ~~ there is a news ticker that the little monster who shot up the SC Church has been caught.  Thank goodness!

I swear to God that I would not be surprised if he flooded the earth and started over again.  The subhumans are ruining this world. Some days I think I just do not want to be here anymore, there is too much evil in the world.  So much hate and so much mental illness and they can get guns without difficulty. There is always the streets and the black market. I am more than happy that they caught that SOB from the church killings.  Does it seem like we have more crime than any other country?  Do they all have prisons everywhere and they are overflowing? I think other countries are so much stricter than ours and use the death penalty. I do not know the answer, I just don't.

Yesterday when I read about what you had at the new to you restaurant I was so jealous and at the same time I thought, that's a helluva lot of carbs, lol. But I was not going to say anything, but since you did it opens the door, haha.  Love your allergy comment.

I love pasta salad in summer, but a lot of carbs there too. But if I made it with more veggies and less pasta, maybe it would be ok and keep the carbs down. I could add cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, celery and onions. I am addicted to onions and love them in practically everything. I want to eat different while my mom is gone. Going to try knocking the carbs real low. No potatoes, bread, etc. Maybe some rice as I cannot give that up and I do love a baked potato, lol.  But we will see.  I can also eat on my time and not on a schedule.  If that goes well for me, mom and I may have to make some changes.
As far as asking Denise about the bracelet, I want to make sure there would be no hard to my kidneys. Not taking any chances there.

I will have some new tags for you very soon.  Made 5 new ones the other day but I need to tag them yet. I had a Challenge in Wakana's group for the week.
5 days of challenges, each day a different letter and the artist you use and the font you use need to start with that letter. We had to make extras. But I am going to tag them too. So should have new ones for tomorrow.
Big hugs and sisterly kisses,

and a Cheery Good Morning to you all.

Shauna is here, so we'll see how posting while she's here goes.  It's supposed to get to the high 90s today, and I think that may just happen. It's bright and sunny and not a cloud in the sky.  The Service is mowing the lawns, but hasn't come to our house yet.  Barb turned off our sprinkler system when it was raining so hard and so much every day, then she went to a family reunion in PA. She should be back tomorrow and we will need to ask her to turn it back on.  Maybe I'll wait until the day after she returns ~ lol.

I forgot to do my blood test yesterday so I had to do that this morning, and it's too low.  Now they will have to call me and tell me to do what I know to do without them calling me ~ lol.    I don't know why it's low.  I haven't changed anything.

TV:  SC shooter 24/7.  Fox has shown the victims at least a bit.  Such a difference between this tragedy and the situations in KS and Baltimore.  As long as they can keep Al Sharpton and the other race baiters away, hopefully we won't see any riots.  I really don't need Geraldo to tell me it's a Hate Crime ~ I was able to figure that out all by myself. (sneer)

Actually, I think most other countries don't use the death penalty. That's why they won't extradite people to America, because we are so mean and we do use it.  Most don't have guns, but when you look at Chicago or Detroit or even Baltimore where they have the strictest gun laws, and see that they have so much more crime and so many more shootings than other cities, that can't be the answer.  I don't know what is.

Mike made a hamburger last night with some prime beef burgers that we got free with a meat order from Allen Brothers, and I swear it was the most delicious burger I've had in ages.  Of course the fact that I almost never have a 'real' hamburger might have something to do with that assessment ~ ha.  Most of the time I have the beef without the bread.  I had almost convinced myself that burgers don't need the buns, but now I am clearly reminded that they do.  Too bad, actually.  It may be hard to go back to bun-less burgers.  We had some sweet white and yellow corn off the cob with it.  Yummy.  Admit it ~ nothing tastes better than carbs!  ;-)

My Carb Salad ~ er, uh, Pasta Salad has shell macaroni and cucumbers and shredded carrots and onions and celery, and worse yet, the dressing is Miracle whip and cider vinegar and salt, pepper, nutmeg and SUGAR.  I'm going to be sooooo punished!    We're even planning on taking a fruit salad to the neighborhood 4th of July Party, just an assortment of fruits (pineapple, orange, cantelope, watermellon, cherries AND Grand Marnier Liquor!   Everyone else will bring even carb-ier things.  Love and Kisses,  Fat Fanny

That would definitely be an issue, if the bracelet could in any way effect your kidneys.  You might write to the people who make the bracelet and ask.  I saw someone on facebook ask about using it with a Pacemaker and they responded that it wasn't approved.  I don't mean in any way to discredit Denise, it's just that most medical professionals have enough to do keeping up with the things from the AMA and Pharmaceutical Representatives and just can't keep on top of things out of the medical main stream.  It sure wouldn't hurt to ask her, but she might not have the answers.

I always LOVE the tags you make, but I don't want you to ever feel you HAVE to make things for me.  That would take the fun out of our visits for you, and I would hate that.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Tomorrow is the first day of Summer, but I think Summer has already begun.  It was 97 yesterday and we'll be in the 90s again today!

Shauna cleaned the house in 3 hours yesterday, but she was huffing and puffing and sweating by the time she finished.  Our previous cleaning people have taken about that long, but Shauna does such a good and thorough job that it's going to be hard for her to do it that quickly.  I had told her I didn't think we could afford to have her work 6 - 8 hours every other week when she was here last time, and I know she was trying to get the time down and save us some money, but while we can't afford the longer time periods regularly, we really love having the house this clean.  I'm going to tell her it's ok to take a little longer if she needs to.  She really does a lovely job.

Today is our anniversary and Mike is making duck with tart cherry sauce and I am making dressing.  Right now, we are planning to watch our DVD of the Opera La Boheme by Puccini (our favorite) tonight while we enjoy a glass of Port.  We used to have "Saturday Night at the Opera" very often, but we haven't done that in years.  Mike suggested we start again, and I'm really looking forward to it ~ and La Boheme.

We do plan to go to The Keg on Monday to complete our celebration.   Hard to believe it has been 34 years.  I think I'm willing to sign up for another 34.  I saw yesterday that the oldest person just died at 116, so I should be able to make it, don'tcha think?

Hope you  are having a lovely day!   I think we're going to go and have our coffee on the porch for a while before it gets too hot.

RE:Welcome to June Chat!
(Date Posted:06/20/2015 8:33 PM)

Hello, here I am, back from the world of Forgetfulness. I had every intention of being here last night and when did I remember that I did not come? When I was tucked into my chair with Cpap on and settling in to sleep.  Jeepers, what the heck is wrong with me lately...I seem to have a definite short term memory list.  Wonder if that is a sign of Alzheimer's or something. I think maybe I have a short attention span, but that is not it. At times I spend hours making tags, etc and have no trouble concentrating.  But I tell myself to remember to order my meds or chat here or write a friend, etc and I never remember it till I go to bed or right after I shut down the lappy.  Drives me crazy.

It is way to hot for me by you.  Yuck!  It has just been in mid 70's all week, sometimes lower, but a bit humid. Not horrible though, so looks like we will get past June without having to have used the AC. That's a good thing.  I love it for hot but do hate feeling cooped up. And mom cannot see what is going on outside and that drives her crazy, lol.

Isn't it true that the English Police do not carry guns? I really have no idea what the answer is to gun control. We have not had a gun in the house for many years.  My father had a rifle for hunting but he traded it to a neighbor for there jumpy horse...you know the ones on a frame with springs.  Cannot think what they are called, but he traded the rifle for that to give the horse to Leigh for Christmas when he was little. No one even realized it was used, did not matter to Leigh.  So he is 48 now, and must have been 5 or 6 at the time. So we have lived 42 years without a gun in the house. Then again, our city has always been pretty safe. I might not feel the same if I lived in Chicago or Detroit. Gary and Steve used to live in Chicago, but could not take it any more and moved away.  Gary had his stereo stolen from his car repeatedly and even when he got a kind that was removable that he took in each night they still broke out the windows all the time and they decided it just was not for them. They live in Sheboygan now, in a wooded area not far from Lake Michigan.  We used to walk from their place to the beach. I cannot do that anymore...I could barely do it then, lol.

Low INR huh? Too many greens??  Any new meds?  LOL, I will play the nurse trying to get to the bottom of it.  Any alcohol in the last 48hrs?  Any stress?  Any unusual bleeding?  Do I get the job?

I think you have a real gem in Shauna and I could see where with the kind of cleaning she does it would take longer.  Did you talk to her about the wooden flowers??  What did she say? Hope that went well and not too awkward.

I love when the spell check even lets me know when my grammar is incorrect, etc.  I get a faint line under the word. This way I can seem more intelligent than I am.

I have never seen an opera...it is on my bucket list. That and a ballet. I have watched the Nutcracker on TV a long time ago, but never an opera. Mom hates operatic voices. I think listening to one song and listening and seeing a whole opera is a totally different experience. One I do want to experience.  I wonder if Prime has and operas for viewing?  I will have to check it out.

I have had a high carb day.  Granola bar for breakfast, 2 waffles one with sugar free syrup for lunch and pizza with cinnamon stix for supper from Pizza Hut. It was thin crust and we had chicken, mushrooms, black olives and sun dried tomatoes on it with a garlic butter sauce.  Cinnamon stix with a frosting to dip in.  I only put a small amount on my finger and ran it up and down the stix and ate 3 half pieces.  Not even half of a single serving and just 2 slices of pizza and mom even ate 1 1/2 slices...it was a miracle. She liked the crust on this one.  I got a coupon for 50% off my order so just could not resist.  But when I ordered the pizza with the coupon it was only $7.50 and they only deliver orders over $9.99 so had to add desert, lol.  Then there was the 2 double stuffed (white and choc icing) oreos with a 3rd cookie layer in the middle.  And the cupcakes that the neighbor upstairs brought down to us.  It was the most crumbliest cupcake I have ever had.  It was green with bright yellow frosting.  She made them with her little grandson and he wanted green.  She bought the cake mix in green.  I love how they have colored cake mixes now.  So much fun. I want to make a bright orange cake with black frosting...but that would take a lot of color paste so maybe just a dark chocolate fudge come Halloween. I wonder is they have orange? I have been getting some different things through Amazon's Prime Pantry for us to try. I have been trying to find cinnamon morsels from Toll House. A friend in Florida once sent me some and I loved the cookies I made with them. But cannot find them, though have not looked hard.  They did however have choc. chips with filled centers.  They have Cherry, Mint, Peanut Butter and Caramel. Though the PB and Caramel are out of stock and they do not know when they will have then in stock again. I did get the Cherry and Mint but have not made any yet.  Maybe tomorrow since the ladies are coming Monday. That would be a great treat. We are getting supper from A&W.

I was loving your little mermaid and was going to check the artist out but then saw that the tube was not available to the public.  What kind of crap is that, lol?  Been meaning to ask you about the artist.  You have had some really cute tags.  I may not like all of them but some are wonderful.

Well time to get to work, I have a couple challenges to do.  Today's tag challenge was the letter R.

The artist if Renee Biertempfel and the font is Ribbons.

Hugs,

Good Morning ~ Welcome to Summer!

We enjoyed a really nice, very low key anniversary yesterday.  In the past, we have taken trips, gone to great restaurants and done all sorts of things to celebrate.  I think we enjoyed our quiet day yesterday as much as any of them.  We are going out to The Keg tomorrow, just to "milk" our celebration ~ you know us.  ;-)

It's going to be another hot one, maybe 97 degrees today. Thank God for Air Conditioning!

We both enjoyed La Boheme last night.  This particular version stars Jose Carreras and Theresa Strata and was performed at the Met 30 years ago.  You may remember seeing him as one of the Three Tenors, he was the shorter, plumper, balding one.  I have to tell you, 30 years ago he was gorgeous, and that voice!   It has always bothered me to watch her in that role because she was heavily made up to look like she was ill and she overacted terribly.  That might have worked fine if you were actually sitting in the audience so far away, but our DVD is filmed like a movie and you see every expression and bit of bad make up up close.  It's disconcerting ~~ but her voice is exquisite.

We haven't been to a live Opera in years, and I suspect we won't be attending one again.  We used to go regularly and when we started watching the DVDs every Saturday night, I began to worry that I wouldn't be able to attend a live Opera again.  Would I be able to sit for 2-3 hours with my shoes on?  Not eating a bowl of raspberries while curled up in my chair?   LOL   Fortunately I found that I could indeed enjoy both kinds of "performances".

Not all Opera is created  ~ or staged ~ equal.  I've seen some that were absolutely breath taking.  I could go on and on until I bored you to tears telling you about various performances.  Then I've seen others that were very disappointing.  The first live Opera I saw was Madam Butterfly (still my favorite). I went with a large group of women friends. Every part of it, the incredibly beautiful sets and costumes as well as the glorious music just took my breath away.  Several of my friends were music majors and Opera season ticket holders.  I knew only that I didn't know anything about music and I didn't expect to like it, but wanted to experience live opera at least once.  Little did I know.  Picture Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she attended her first opera and was dissolved to tears ~ that was me.

We took up half of two rows and when it was done I literally prayed that no one would talk and spoil the mood. I didn't want to lose what I was feeling.  Everyone else must have felt the same way, because we all quietly said our goodbyes and went home.   Years later Denver Opera did Mme Butterfly and I was so excited for Mike to be able to enjoy my favorite opera the first time ~~ and it was sooooo disappointing.  The Soprano had been ill and they pre-apologized for her voice not being at it's best.  I can't imagine what it was like at her best because she was really good.  The problem was the Tenor, who was popular with the audience probably because they must have known him from other performances, because it was like watching a true Diva sing with a High School kid.  The duet between Butterfly and Pinkerton is one of the loveliest things ~ and she out shown him so badly it was to weep.  I felt so bad for Mike not to have experienced Mme Butterfly the same way I did.   I would hate to think of you attending a badly performed Opera and making your judgement on all opera based on that, but I would love to transport you to a really wonderfully performed opera ~~ by Puccini.

Harrumph!  So you forgot me, huh?  I would give you a hard time, but I absolutely love my new fairy cat tag, so you're forgiven. ;-)

No, England is one of the places where guns are largely outlawed (except for the Queen's hunting parties, of course ~ laugh), and the Cops don't carry guns.  You know we watch a lot of British Mysteries and I am forever thinking how wrong that is.  The criminals aren't obeying  the law in the first place so the fact that they "aren't supposed to have guns" really wouldn't matter to them, would it?  Lord knows we've had some cops lose control and we've certainly had mentally ill people shoot up schools and churches, and it's horrible.  Still, in the towns where the gun laws are the strictest, the crime is the worst so eliminating the Second Amendment isn't the answer.  I don't know what is, I just know that isn't it.  Blaming everyone for what a few do isn't the answer either.

I've never owned a gun and really don't want one, but I have three "old lady" friends who are 'armed and dangerous' and I love knowing that they are, and thinking that maybe some thug will look at me and think 'that old gal could be armed.  I'd better leave her alone."  ;-)     Mike was qualified as an expert marksman in the service but he doesn't own a gun either.  He sometimes thinks about getting one for protection.  If you know Mike at all you know that he couldn't use one to shoot an animal.....but a thug breaking into our home?  He just might could.

I hadn't thought about alcohol being behind my low INR.  I don't drink very much but we did enjoy a lovely glass of Port one night and another glass of our Anniversary 21 year old Scotch on another night.  That must be it!  No medical or veggie changes, so it was a puzzlement ~ till now.

I haven't fixed the wooden flowers yet ~~~ or re-arranged my china & porcelain roses that she screwed up either.   Once I have everything put back to rights, I will ask her not to touch them but to leave them for me.  By the time she came my tantrum was over, which I'm sure was a good thing.  LOL  Aside from that, we are thrilled with the way she cleans.  I'm going to tell her that if she needs an extra hour for our regular cleaning, she can take it rather than exhausting herself trying to work so fast.  I really love having everything this clean.  We aren't going out nearly as much as we used to, so it will be money well spent ~ or transferred from the entertainment fund.

Am I leading you astray and into NoNoCarb land, or are you just going there on your own?   I'm definitely not under control, and we have holidays and birthdays coming up (a.k.a. excuses)  Ut-oh!  ;-)

Most of the tags I have that you haven't made for me or that aren't older tags are from the BAMA group.  Two very talented sisters, Bobbie and Marilyn Allen (hence BAMA) do all their own original drawings, and they and several members of their group are very talented and generous.  They have very strict rules about copywrites but you are used to those.  They are very generous with their tubes ~ no charge, but you can't give the tubes to others, only the things you have made with the tubes.  Aside from my own little Tags and Tiaras group, it's the only group I belong to.  It's really big, but fun.

First of all, before I forget again.....
Happy Anniversary to you and Mike.  I meant to say that to you yesterday...but as I said, short term memory is horrid. I certainly think it should be celebrated a whole week, just like birthdays.

I have applied to BAMA. We will see if I get accepted. I thought I would be able to take a look at the group but I could not, lol. But, if they share tubes within the group, then I can understand how they would not want non members coming in and helping themselves.

OMG, I just realized that I picked the same border to use as you did, lol.  It matches your tag much better.

I am going to check out Amazon for Opera's and then ask you before picking one. Not sure they even have any available, especially free ones. Since I am cheap, lol.  I hope they do as I know mom would have me turning it off in no time. Do they give you a synopsis of the story in advance? I know in person ones have a program outlining the play.

I took Marksmanship in my Senior year of high school.  There was a shooting range in the basement of the school. It was rifles and we mostly shot from prone position.  I was ok and did get a certificate. I am sad to say that I was ok at hitting bulls eye targets but really good at hit animal targets. No idea why...weird huh? We did not have human targets. I am talking just flat, paper targets. But I have a healthy fear of guns. I too do not know what the answer is to reducing crimes and shootings in particular. I wonder what countries that have little crime do and why they have little crime. It seems out country is regressing in some ways and getting more and more out of control in others. I have no answers.

Alcohol usually thins your blood. Didn't you say your were too low? If so it would not be the answer. Have you been eating cranberries? They can affect your coumadin so that it would not thin as it should?

I cleaned the bathroom and washed the floor today so we just have some sprucing up to do tomorrow for the ladies. May not make it in depending on how the day goes and how early the ladies leave. They tend to stay late in summer. I am tired already.

Hugs for my sister,

Good Morning!

Lots of news this morning.  SCOTUS won't be handing out the decision on either Obamacare or Gay Marriage today, so we will need to wait for a few more days.  It appears that Jonathan Gruber was much more involved in the creation of Obamacare than the White House and main stream media have tried to lead us to believe.  If you've forgotten who Jonathan Gruber is ~ he's the guy that repeatedly called you stupid.   Like the gun situation and so many other things, I don't know what is good and what is bad anymore.  I just feel sort of shell-shocked with all that is going on.

It's supposedly cooling off today, to the mid 80s.  Seems funny to call that "Cooling off".  lol

We are going to The Keg for dinner tonight, the finish of our Anniversary celebration. Thank you for your good wishes.  It's been a nice, low key celebration and I've enjoyed it ~~ and I did get another yellow rose.  This one is a bit different, but still lovely.  Mike had some trouble finding one this year.   And so it goes.  I have a load of laundry to fold and I want to make some potato salad to have tomorrow.  The last time I made potato salad I used those little Dutch Boy potatoes instead of 'regular' potatoes.   It was different, but we liked it.  They have a slightly different taste than the larger potatoes I think.  I left the skins on and after boiling them I simply quartered them or cut them into eights depending on the size.  Definitely easy, and I used those pre cooked and pealed eggs.  Lazy Woman's potato salad!

Major Crimes tonight and I don't think there is much else on.  What are you  watching?

I think you will like BAMA.  I know you belong to many other groups but maybe it will be a little different and fun for you too.  One thing I forgot to mention is that you can ONLY use BAMA tubes when posting there, so you won't be able to share all the lovely things you have made using other artists work.  They do have lots of challenges, but again only using Marilyn or Bobbie's artwork.  I don't participate because I can't make so much of my PSP and Animation Shop work anymore.  I think there have been too many laptop and operating system changes. Whatever, I was unable to make things work for a long time, and then I just sort of lost interest in trying.  Since everyone makes great things for me, I really don't have to.  ;-)

I haven't looked for any Operas online since we have our own DVDs.  Most of them have closed captioning so you can read what they are saying.  That was quite distracting in the beginning.  I don't read fast enough to to read and still look at the faces.   I'm almost afraid for you to try because of course I want so much for you to really enjoy it, and I fear you won't.  Do I enjoy the DVDs because I have seen the live opera first?   I don't know.  Of course the live opera, if it's done well, is much better ~~ but if the live opera isn't done well, the well staged DVD might be better.  I dunno.  Some of the loveliest music is in LaBoheme and Madam Butterfly but of course there are many others as well.

You are aware of what Buggs Bunny said, in Mike's very favorite cartoon,"What's Opera, Doc?" aren't you?  It's such a classic ~ Buggs is Brunhilda and Elmer Fudd is Sigfried in the Wagnarian classic. ("Oh Bwunhilda, you're so wovely."  ~ "I know it. I can't help it." LOL)  Of course it ends tragically and Buggs says "Eh, what'd you expect, a happy ending? It's Opera!"  LOL  You can pretty much count on there NOT being a happy ending.

I really had forgotten about alcohol effecting your INR.  I always think of green leafy veggies or of being sick and taking other meds, but completely spaced booze.  I think I've only had two glasses in the last two weeks, but both were in the week before my blood test.

Good for you cleaning the bathroom and washing the floor.  Have a wonderful time with the ladies!  If you can't get back in, I will know that you are enjoying yourself and smile.

Thank you for the darling tag!   See you at BAMA.  ;-)

Good Morning.

Looks like another sunny day here.   Last night we went to The Keg for dinner as planned.  We had drinks and Mike had a shrimp cocktail and I had ~~ drumroll ~~ brie en crote (a.k.a. toast points).  I hadn't allowed myself to have it for quite a while, but oh, my do I love it.  They serve it with a hot pepper jelly and pesto to pile on top.  Sooo good.  Yes, I did share a bit with Mike ~ grudgingly.  ;-)

It was a good thing we really enjoyed our drinks and appetizers because the meal (we shared filet mignon and crab legs) was seriously disappointing.   Honestly it seems like every restaurant isn't as good as it used to be.  We do like going out, but if the food is disappointing it really makes you think about continuing to go out.

I'm having a bad start to my morning ~ I sure hope it gets better!

Hope you had a great time with the Ladies.  I looked for you at BAMA but haven't seen you yet.  Have a good one!

Are you by any chance Noviakiki in BAMA?
