Good Morning.  Welcome to August!

Lou Ann,,I love the "August Coming Soon".  Makes me laugh ~ and it makes me anticipate!   I can wait, cuz I know it will be great!

Oooh, can I ever relate to the sleepless nights.  How miserable!  I've certainly had my share of those nights, but it's been better lately.

Good luck getting the Afghan done!   I will  hope for some cool days for you.

There is a Longmire Marathon going on right now.  It's the recent episodes and actually good for me to watch again.  So much going on I know I miss as much as I 'get'.

Nothing much planned for today.  It's the first of the month so I need to get moneys transferred from Mike and me into our Joint accounts and the check books balanced.

I COULD do some work, but don't put money on it.

WE HAD THUNDERSTORMS TODAY...VERY NICE AFTER AS IT TOOK AWAY THE HUMIDITY.  BEFORE THAT IT WAS MUGGY AND WARM.
I AM GETTING THERE.  NEARLY DONE WITH AFGHAN.
NEED TO WORK ALL MY ENDS IN AND THEN ADD ALL THE TASSELS ON THE ENDS.  MOM THINKS I SHOULD SKIP THEM SINCE THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE ASS.  BUT I THINK THEY WILL ADD TO THE LOOK.  SO WILL PROBABLY DO THEM.  THAT IS ALL FOR TOMORROW NOW AND I NEED GOOD LIGHT TO WORK MY ENDS IN AND I WILL DO THAT BEFORE I FINISH IT OFF WITH TASSELS.  I WILL MAKE SURE TO GET PICTURES, IT IS IN A VARIEGATED PACKERS COLORS YARN.
I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT GET A KICK OUT OF THE
AUGUST, COMING TO A PAGE NEAR YOU, LOL.  IT MADE ME LAUGH.  I SHOULD BE ABLE TO WORK ON CUPPA ON SUNDAY WHILE THE FAMILY IS AT THE WEIDER FAMILY REUNION.  I CANNOT GO.  IT IS IN AN WAREHOUSE TYPE SETTING.  IT IS AT THE PORTAGE FAIRGROUNDS AND NOT AIR CONDITIONED.  SO I DO NOT GO.  USED TO BE AT MY UNCLES ON THE WISCONSIN RIVER NEAR BARABOO BUT HE LOST HIS HOME, SO NO MORE.
I AM FEELING A LOT BETTER.  SOON I WILL BE BACK TO MY NORM...NOT GOOD, BUT NOT BAD, LOL.
NO MORE GREEN GUNK AT ALL, AND THE COUGH IS GETTING BETTER.  NOW JUST TO NOT BE SO TIRED.
I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO WATCH THE LONGMIRE MARATHON BUT I AM NOT ALONE, LOL.  I WATCH SO MUCH CRAP TV THAT IT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY ANY MORE.  THAT'S RIGHT, IT'S THE FIRST OF THE MONTH.  TIME TO PAY THE BILLS.  I HAVE THAT TO DO TOO, LOL.  BUT SINCE I AM FEELING BETTER I AM UP FOR IT ALL.  COME ON WORLD, I CAN DO THIS!!

RE:Welcome to August
(Date Posted:08/02/2014 9:45 AM)

Good Morning!

Yesterday I got all the funds transferred and the check books balanced ~ and not much more.  I started a new book, one of Cleo Coyle's Coffee House books.

This morning Mike is making my favorite breakfast ~ Cheesy Scrambled Eggs in a Croissant.

Supposed to reach a high of 84, and sunny all day.  I'll take it!

The missionaries who contracted Ebola are being flown into the States today.   I have such mixed feelings about that.  On the one hand, I don't want Ebola in the US!  On the other hand, they are Americans and were doing God's work when they got it.  I think about Barb in Niger and how I would feel if she were stricken.   I'm glad I'm not in charge of those decisions, and I pray for the healing of these two people, as well as all the rest of those affected.

Speaking of Barb, while she is on her missions she sends back letters and pictures of her activities wherever she is serving.  She hasn't had good internet service this trip, so she's only sent three messages.   I'm wondering if you might like me to try to post them?   If I do, you must promise to pray for her as your price for seeing her messages.   Let me know.   I don't want to clutter up the board with large files no one is interested in.

smiley12

Hooray!  The Afghan is nearly done.  I'd love to see the pictures.

I'm sorry you can't go to the Weider Family Reunion, but believe me I do understand.  While I know you'd love to see and be with everyone, it really isn't much fun when you're in pain AND can't breath!    I'm so glad you are finally feeling better!  Bring it on, Baby!

Make it a great day!

It's done, the afghan is finished.  But the pics are on my iPad so will try posting them here later.  I could not find my camera.  Oh well.  I took first pics without the tassels, as mom thought I should not bother.  In the end I did add them as I thought they would enhance it.  Mom decided she really like it with them.  Sadly the pics with the tassels are very dark.  No flash on the iPad, lol.

I really am feeling so much better.  The cough really can get to me at times, but for the most part all the other symptoms are gone.  Still keeping it quiet for a few more days so as not to have a set back.

I would love to read Barb's letters and I will pray for her whether you post them or not, lol.  She is a wonderful human being. Yes, the whole Ebola thing is scary, but America takes care of it's own so I feel it is right to bring them home to treat them and give them the best chance at recovery.  I pray they have all the precautions they need in place to do this.  I just hope they do not start sending "others" here for treatment.

I am going to go and see if I can post pics here from my iPad if I can figure that out.  If not will post them to facebook then post here, but that will have to wait till tomorrow as it is a mystery for the reunion and lot's of family is on facebook.

Have a Blessed Sunday my Dear Dorothy.

Good Morning!

Looks to be another beautiful day in the neighborhood ~ High 80s, sunny, no rain or wind.  Or so they say.     How are things in Your Neck of the Woods?

smiley24

Hooray, the Afghan is done!   When is the shower (or party)?   I can't remember who it is for.

I really am SO glad you are getting better and better.  What a horrid session that was!    So, you're a lady of leisure today?   Enjoy it!

I did put up the three messages I've had so far from Barb in another thread.   Her internet service has been sketchy so we haven't gotten as many as we often do.   If you find this interesting and would like, I can put up some from her earlier trips now that I've figured out how to do it.    Some are quite interesting, to me anyway.   Of course I will continue to add to this trip's 'stream' as I get new messages.    She sends these messages to those who are praying for her and for her mission while she is there.   She should be home sometime in September.

I agree that we will give those afflicted with Ebola better care than they could get in the countries where they contracted it, and a much better chance to live.  I also know if it were me or one of 'my people', I'd want them back in their own country.  I'm sure they are taking every precaution.   If I were a better person, I'd want everyone suffering to be brought here for treatment ~ but I'm not a better person.  It's not that I don't care about those who are suffering.  I just selfishly care about 'us' more.

Have a great day!

I AGREE DOROTHY.  I WANT OUR PEOPLE HERE.

WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN CURE THIS

AND AM SURE WE WOULD GIVE ANYONE ELSE THE

NECESSARY INFO TO HELP THEIR OWN TOO.

BUT I TRUST OUR PEOPLE MORE THAN I TRUST THE

OTHERS.  HERE YOU KNOW THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING

THEY CAN.

LET ME READ BARBS NOTES AND WILL LET YOU KNOW IF

I WOULD LIKE TO READ HER OLDER ONES.

I AM NOT GOING TO GET THE PAGES DONE TODAY.  I DO

NOT FEEL WELL AT ALL.  STOMACH AND DIARRHEA.  IT IS

A SIDE EFFECT OF THE ANTIBIOTIC AND HAVE BEEN

DEALING WITH IT SINCE BEING ON IT.  BUT TODAY

IT HAS HIT WITH A VENGEANCE.  SO I PUT THE AIR ON

AND IT IS STORMING OUT AND I AM JUST VEGGING.  I

CANNOT CONCENTRATE...AND HAVE NO MOJO FOR CREATING.

I TRIED, BUT JUST NOT HAPPENING.

THE AFGHAN IS THE MYSTERY GIFT TO BE BID ON AT THE

FAMILY REUNION TODAY IN PORTAGE.  HAVE NOT HEARD

WHAT IT WENT FOR YET.  BUT A MONKEY SNUGGIE I GAVE

MY SISTER TO USE AS HER WHITE ELEPHANT SOLD FOR $12

AND I PAID ABOUT HALF THAT FOR IT. LOL.

I FORGOT TO TRY AND POST THE AFGHAN PICS.  I WILL DO

THAT NOW.  I HOPE, LOL.

HUGS, LOU ANN

Yup.  Another almost no sleep night.   I fell asleep watching an episode of the last Season of Hercule Peroit on BBC. Then I was awake until around 11:30 ~ and wide awake again before 2 AM.  Finally around 3:30 I gave up and went into the Morning Room to read.   On the positive side, I read nearly half of Cleo Coyle's "Billionaire Blend" (coffee house mystery) and it's delicious.  On the not so positive side, I'm not going to be worth much today.  (Again)

smiley91

Lou Ann, I dimly remembered that the Afghan was something the family had requested you to make, but I couldn't get more focused than that.  Ha.  I saw it's picture on Facebook.  I'm guessing the lighter one was more accurate color-wise.  It looks great!

I'm so sorry you felt bad yesterday.   I sure hope today is better!

I FELT SO BLAH TODAY AND THEN THIS
EVENING I WAS THINKING AND I FIGURED IT OUT.  WHILE I WAS SICK, EITHER THE MEDS I WAS ON EFFECTED THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MY ANTIDEPRESSANT OR THE ILLNESS ITSELF DID.  I HAVE NO ENERGY AND NO INTEREST IN DOING ANYTHING.  SO, I AM GOING TO UP MY ANTIDEPRESSANT FOR A MONTH OR SO AND THEN WHEN I FEEL BETTER, I WILL REDUCE IT AGAIN.  I AM SUPPOSED TO BE ON 200 MG AND I AM ONLY TAKING 150 MG. SO WILL JUST UP TO THE 200 FOR A WHILE.  I THINK THIS WILL DO THE TRICK, LOL.
YES, MOM ASKED ME TO MAKE THE AFGHAN AND REQUESTED THE PACKER COLORS.  THE MYSTERY BAG (AFGHAN)  ONLY SOLD FOR $ 30.  AT LEAST THE COST WAS COVERED.  AND I HAVE ENOUGH YARN LEFT TO MAKE SEVERAL SCARVES AND HATS, SO IT'S ALL GOOD.  THEY KINDS FORGOT THAT AUCTION AND IT GOT LEFT TO LAST AND PEOPLE HAD ALREADY SPENT THEIR MONEY ON THE WHITE ELEPHANT AUCTION AND THE 50/50 RAFFLE.  I THINK IT
WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER IF IT HAD GONE FIRST.  OH WELL.
I AM SORRY YOU HAD A BAD NIGHT.  I HOPE YOU SLEEP TONIGHT.  I HAVE BEEN SLEEPING BETTER.
I DID GATHER MOST OF MY PAGE INFO, BUT AM JUST BLANKING OUT ON THE PAGE AND SKIN DESIGN.  I NEED SOME HEAVENLY INTERVENTION.  WHERE ARE YOU MOJO?
GOT THE EMAIL FROM ANNNIEM.  SHE SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN HER PASSWORD AGAIN.  SHOULD I ASK TO HAVE IT SENT TO HER AGAIN.  I THINK I WILL ALSO ASK HER TO TELL ANNNIEM HOW TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP.  WOULDN'T HURT I SUPPOSE.
I FOUND BARB'S LETTERS FASCINATING.  I SAID SOME PRAYERS FOR HER AS I READ THEM.  GOD BLESS HER AND THE OTHERS THAT HELP PEOPLE SO UNSELFISHLY.  I WISH I COULD SEE THE PICTURES BETTER.
DAMN LONGMIRE!!!  SO HAPPY THEY RESOLVED HENRY'S STORY LINE AND WALT'S WIFES, BUT NOW WE HAVE TO WAIT TO FIND OUT WHETHER BRANCH SHOT HIS DAD OR IF HIS DAD SHOT HIM?  I HATE WAITING.
WELL, I AM GOING TO GO LOOK FOR THAT HEAVENLY INTERVENTION.
LOVE YOU.

WELL, I GOT THE SKIN DONE.  AS SOON AS I SAW THE GRAPHIC I

KNEW I HAD TO USE IT.  NOW I JUST NEED TO FIGURE OUT THE

MONTHLY PAGE.  I JUST DECIDED THAT MY THEME DID NOT HAVE

TO NECESSARILY REPRESENT THE MONTH.  I THINK KITTENS AND

GERANIUMS WORK GREAT FOR AUGUST, LOL.

TODAY WAS MY MOMMA'S BIRTHDAY.  82 YEARS YOUNG.  MY SISTER

DIANE TOOK HER TO THE OLIVE GARDEN FOR LUNCH AND WE ATE

THE LEFTOVERS FOR SUPPER.  SHE HAD LOTS OF PHONE CALLS

AND CARDS IN THE MAIL.  OUR LANDLORD BROUGHT HER A

BEAUTIFUL MUM PLANT, A BUTTERFLY HELIUM BIRTHDAY BALLOON

AND A HALF GALLON OF BUTTER PECAN ICE CREAM.  SHE WAS SO

TICKLED THAT HE DID THAT.

NOTHING ELSE NEW, OTHER THAN I MADE AN APPT TO GET

MY BOOBS SQUASHED.  THEY CLAIM THAT NOW THAT IT IS

DIGITAL IT IS QUICKER AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO

COMPRESS SO MUCH.  THAT MAKES ME HAPPY.  NO ONE

LIKES BEING TORTURED.

RE:Welcome to August
(Date Posted:08/06/2014 8:10 AM)

Good Morning.

We went out for a nice dinner last night and then came home and watched TV.  I didn't take a pill before bed last night and while I certainly slept better than I had the night before the night before last, it was pretty fitful.  smiley52  It's a darn good thing I got good sleep the night before.

We made a grocery order that will be delivered this morning.  We were 5 months between the previous deliveries, but we decided to stock up on things that can be made 'spur of the moment', so those are the kinds of things that are coming today.   I used to read on Facebook about Debs going to Tescos every morning for groceries so she could cook the family's meals, and it sounded so awful to me.  I like much better being able to go shopping in my own pantry or garage or freezer.  We'll still need to go to the store to get fresh items, but that's just a drive up/pop in situation.

smiley4

Lou Ann, you did it!  Another BEAUTIFUL thread for August.   I love it!  Where do you get all the lovely tiles and graphics?   Really great!

Happy Birthday WEEK to your mom!   It sounds like she had a lovely day, but of course you can't celebrate 82 in just ONE day!  smiley64

Let me know what you think about the digital boob squash.

Did you watch Rizzoli and Isles last night?  Sad, but somehow not surprising story line.  I'll have to wait to see how I feel about Frost's replacement.   Then we watched 'Murder in the First' from the night before.  I'm still not sure how much I like that one.  Right now, it's just something to watch.

Have a great day.

YIPPEE!  GOT THE PAGE DONE TOO!  BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.  I GET MY GRAPHICS FROM DIFFERENT GROUPS I AM IN. OR I BUY SOME OF THEM.  AS FAR AS SEAMLESS TILES, SOME COME THROUGH GROUPS, BUT MOST I GET BY GOING TO GOOGLE IMAGES AND SEARCHING SEAMLESS TILES.  MANY ARE NOT SEAMLESS, LOL AND I HAVE TO MAKE THEM THAT WAY.  I EVEN DO THEME SEARCHES IN SEAMLESS TILES.  ANY TIME YOU WANT ANY OF MY TILES, JUST ASK.
IT WAS NOT TODAY AND I WENT OUT TO DO MY
INR.  MY SISTER HAS NO AC IN HER CAR AND I WAS DYING.  ANYWAY, MY INR IS HIGH AT 3.2
THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP ME AT MY SAME DOSE SINCE IT WAS A ROUGH PERIOD WITH ME BEING SICK, MED CHANGES, EATING HABIT CHANGES, ETC.  I HAVE NOT HAD THE GREENS I USUALLY EAT SO THAT I AM SURE IS THE MAIN CULPRIT.
WE HAD OUR FIRST TOMATOES FROM THE GARDEN AND THEY ARE DELICIOUS.  THERE IS NOTHING THAT COMPARES WITH A HOME GROWN TOMATO.
WE HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL CABBAGES AND LOTS OF PEPPERS TOO.  MOM MADE ME A STUFFED PEPPER THE OTHER DAY WITH ONE.  I DO LOVE STUFFED PEPPERS.
I DID WATCH RIZZOLI AND ISLES LAST NIGHT.  IT IS MY FAVORITE SHOW AT THE MOMENT.  THOUGH IT IS GOING IN STRANGE DIRECTIONS, LOL.
TOMORROW I AM GOING TO ENJOY DOING NOTHING.  I HAVE NOTHING TO FINISH OR NEEDS TO BE DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER.  SO I AM CALLING IT A FREE DAY!  FOR ONCE I WILL NOT FEEL GUILTY FOR DOING NOTHING, LOL.
I DO NEED TO GET THROUGH THE BACK CLOSET SO THAT I CAN SEND CLOTHES TO THE CHURCH RUMMAGE, THERE IS ALWAYS A HIGH DEMAND FOR XL SIZES.  BUT THAT CAN WAIT A BIT :)
HAVE A WONDERFUL THURSDAY PUTTING AWAY YOUR GROCERIES.
HUGS,

RE:Welcome to August
(Date Posted:08/07/2014 8:10 AM)

Good Morning!

Another way too short night ~ phooey.  I slept really well from maybe 11:30 until 2:30, then finally got up to read at a quarter to 4.  Humbug!

I did get the trash taken out so Mike didn't have to and I read several chapters and now I'm enjoying my morning coffee.

Yesterday was a . . . . . . day.  You know what I mean. smiley52  The Grocery delivery was supposed to come between 10 and 12, but she didn't get here until 12:30.  You know how much fun it is just waiting ~ you can't really do anything else BUT wait.  I stayed in front to put away things that went to the garage and open the door for her  to take things that went to the kitchen back to Mike.  We watched TV for a while in our respective locations.  Then  I was going to make egg salad for sandwiches for dinner but we were both so discombobliated that I suggested we go to the Red Robin for an early dinner.   Mike had a free burger from them for his birthday, so that sounded like a plan to him.

Unfortunately, the hostess practically ran to a table way across the room before I could say "Booth" and then dashed away.  Oh well, the table looked ok ~~~ until the folks arrived at the next table.  They were far more interested in us than each other, and the table on the other side of them had a crying baby, who didn't pause for air.   Next time, no matter how fast the hostess is, when we come early and there isn't a shortage of booths I'm going to insist on sitting where WE want rather than where SHE wants.    The food wasn't even as good as usual. Not bad, just not up to standard.  We both brought half of it home for tonight's dinner, so that at least is a good thing.

smiley24

Yippee Skippee!  You got the new Welcome page done and it's awesome ~~ as always.    I used to collect Lowell Davis figurines (actually I still do, but I don't have them displayed).  One of his series was cats, and the ones you have posted remind me a lot of his ~ in a flowerpot or whatever.  Made me smile.

I would never have thought of googeling for seamless tiles!  If I don't have them stored from somewhere or other, I make my own, but you always have such unique things.  I love the lace overlaid green of your background.

What's going on with us?  My INR was 3.1 last time but we didn't change my dosage either.  I told her I was surprised it hadn't been higher the time before because I was popping aspirin and advil because of my long lasting back ache, but I'd had a salad after I took this last test so hopefully that will help bring it down.

The nurse told me she had had a horrid lower back pain too, so bad she thought something was wrong with her kidneys and had them tested.  (Have to admit, that thought crossed my mind, too because the pain was so strong and lasted so long).  Anyway, her kidneys were fine and the pain finally just left ~ and so had mine, finally.  Strange!  Possibly some kind of virus.

She also told me that though there was no written documentation, in her experience sometimes fruits and particular cantaloupe caused your numbers to go up!  I hadn't heard that before of course, but I tend to trust their experience dealing with so many of us on Warfarin.  I don't eat nearly enough fruit, so I'm sure that isn't my issue.

Thank you for the lovely skin and lovely August page!  They make my face smile!  And Thank You for my lovely "Lowell Davis" tag!  I love it!

Enjoy your Free Day!!

I have had a lovely day.  I decided the perfect carefree way to spend it was to read.  So I bought the latest Samantha Sweet book and am reading it.  So far so good and I already am suspicious of one character that no one else has picked up on yet.
It was a beautiful day here in Wisconsin.  If the rest of the summer were like this one, I would be a happy camper.
Sorry that your eating out was not pleasant and that the
food did not make up for it.  Well, half an hour late with
groceries could have been a lot worse.
I googled your Lowell Davis and I can see the similarities
between some of his cat figurines and the graphic I used.
Especially a couple of black and white cat ones that were
with geraniums.  But I checked out his paintings, etc and it
it is definitely not his work.  I have been unable to find the
artist of this work.  It is too bad as I like to give credit.
I have a couple new pics of Liam that I will share.  They
are for his 4 month anniversary.  They are just wonderful!!

Ok, back to my book now.  TGIF to you!!
Hugs,

Funny, it lets me use the diamond way to post the first pic but after that it will not, lol.

Hello. How is your weekend starting off?

Yesterday the lack of sleep made me feel pretty punk, but I fell asleep in the chair and slept so hard I actually dreamed.  I got a surprising amount of work done during the day too, including the dread budget book caught up and balanced (the first time!) and then restructured to move funds from areas where there was excess to areas where there were shortages, and then re-balanced.  Yay!  Got the trash out and brought the can back in and got the largest load of laundry you've ever seen washed and folded and several other things.  All in all, i felt worthwhile for a change.  Ha!

Watching the news is horrid, but something I feel I have to do.  The persecution of Christians all over the world is getting worse and with our open borders I fear may be coming to a neighborhood near us one day.  The people in Mosul who have lived there and practiced their Faith for generations and are now driven from their homes and starving on a mountaintop break my heart.  People including children are being beheaded and their little heads stuck on poles and still there are those who defend ISIS.  I'm sickened and horrified.   And now I will stop because this is a place where we come to share our lives and you shouldn't have to listen to me rant about things I view as wrong in the world.

Back to more upbeat topics ~ Mike made corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast and it was delish.  I'm going to make that overdue egg salad for dinner.  Nothing really planned for in between.

I love hearing that you had a lovely day!  Makes my face smile without my even telling  it to. smiley64

I am WAY behind on the Samantha Sweet books ~ I blush to tell you I haven't even followed her to Ireland yet!   I will read them ~ I really like them, but I just don't read like I should anymore.  I used to consume two or there books a week.  Now I'm doing good if I read that many a month!  Still, they are all there, waiting for me.

The similarities with your new skin and thread and Lowell Davis are amazing.  I met him a few times ~ what a lovely man.  I don't even know now if he is still living.

Those pictures of Liam are beautiful!  I've been voting for him every day.
