RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/26/2016 11:07 PM)

THIS IS A SHORT NOTE AS I AM NOT FEELING WELL AT ALL.

ANOTHER SLEEPLESS NIGHT AND THEN FEELING

OVERWHELMINGLY TIRED AND NAUSEOUS.  DO NOT KNOW WHEN

I FELL ASLEEP BUT I SLEPT THROUGH THE ALARM BY HALF AN

HOUR AND THEN COULD NOT FUNCTION.  SENT A TEXT TO LOUANN

AND TOLD MOM WAS GOING BACK TO BED.  I SLEPT TILL 2:30.

NOW IT FEELS LIKE I PULLED A TENDON OR SOMETHING IN MY

NECK AND CANNOT TURN MY HEAD TO THE RIGHT OR BEND IT

DOWN TO THE LEFT.  SO AM MISERABLE.

TO TOP IT OFF, AFTER TELLING MOM I DID NOT WANT TO DO ANY

THING SPECIAL FOR MY BIRTHDAY THEY ARE NOW PLANNING A

SURPRISE PARTY FOR SAT NIGHT.  I ALWAYS FIND OUT.  I DO

NOT KNOW WHY THEY TRY.  I WILL TELL YOU HOW I KNOW

TOMORROW AS HOPEFULLY I WILL FEEL BETTER.

I DID GET THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CARD IN THE MAIL TODAY.  MY

FIRST CARD.  THANK YOU FOR IT.  I LOVE THE SPARKLY PAPER.

AND THE MULTI LAYER 3-D LOOK.  THE SENTINMENT WAS LOVELY

AND MADE THE AGE MORE BEARABLE.  THOUGH IT STILL REALLY

SUCKS.  AND IT REALLY IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN A HALLMARK.

I KEEP LOOKING AT IT AND IT MAKES ME SMILE.

HUGS, LOU ANN

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/27/2016 7:51 AM)

Hello.

I did get some things done yesterday ~ for a change.  I fixed the wood flowers ~ more or less ~ with Mike's help.  They haven't needed to be glued, but just fitted together, but over the years they have taken a beating, so I thought maybe gluing them would help.  My Gorilla Glue (two kinds, wood glue and all purpose) didn't work worth a darn!  I got them wiped with a damp cloth and somewhat glued and fitted back together, but I'm not sure how long they will stay, particularly if they are attacked by a dust mop.  It was almost impossible to do a good job arranging them because the wood stems are in the vase tightly and with the blossoms being vulnerable to being bumped ~~ well, if you see them you will likely tell me that "that blossom should go there", and "this one should be higher, or lower".  I'll agree with you ~ and then tell you to go ahead and fix it yourself.  Once you have tried (and tried), you will never criticize again.  lol   In other words, I'm not thrilled with the arrangement, but at least everything is attached instead of just being stuffed into the vase, and it looks as good as I can make it look now.  I'm going to tell Shauna to clean the vase and the area around the flowers when it is necessary, but to just leave the blossoms.  If the dust isn't rearranged, no one will be the wiser. ;-)

Then my M&M came in and I finished my Paper Pumpkin kit project ~ the party favors.  No one knows I'm doing it, including Kathy, so I hope they will get a kick out of them.   You asked for pictures ~

This is the way the monthly kit comes.  Sometimes it has the things to make cards, sometimes other things.  You don't know in advance what it will contain, so it's a surprise each time.  This was one of the "other things" times.  You get everything necessary to make the project including a little "ink spot", stamps and glue and whatever else you need.  Then you just put it all together.

Here is what my finished product looked like, left in the Paper Pumpkin box ~ which will sort of be advertising for Paper Pumpkin.

Every month there is a sort of competition to come up with Alternative Ideas in case you don't like what is in your Paper Pumpkin.  Some folks are so clever with the things they come up with.  What I did is just the project "as intended".

Now let's talk about M&Ms.  I haven't had any in ages ~~ have they always been this sweet?   I used to like them, then I started having the larger peanut M&Ms on the few occasions when I had them.  These are the little ones so they would fit into the test tubes ~ but MAN are they sweet to me now!   I wish I'd gotten Reeses pieces, but I thought so many people have peanut allergies.  I could have enjoyed the leftover Reeses Pieces.   I ordered rather than shopping in person, and I didn't know how big a bag to get to fill all the tubes.  I got WAY too much, and now I haven't got a clue what to do with all those sweet M&Ms!   help.  (lol)

We did watch the debate last night.

I'm so sorry you still aren't feeling good ~ and in fact seem to be feeling worse and worse.  That's miserable any time, but even worse when you are coming up to a special birthday.

I'm glad your family is having a "surprise" party for you.  I've told you how much trouble I had with my 60th.  I had always made fun of people who had trouble with their birthdays ~~ until my 60th.  For the whole six months before it, I couldn't even say the word.   I'm going to be s-s-s-s-s   Lol ~ I sounded like a snake or a leaky steam pipe!   Then when the actual day came, it turned out to be my best birthday ever ~~~ and I had celebrated my 50th in a Hot Air Balloon over the Napa Valley!   I hope you have the same kind of day, and realize how special you are and that the achievement of 60 years is something to be celebrated!

I'm glad the card got there and that you like it.  I wanted it to be there ahead of your birthday ~ and I kinda like being First. ;-)   It's my birthday hug for you.  With balloons!  smiley84

Feel Better!!

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/28/2016 12:46 PM)

Good Afternoon!

(It was morning when I started this post, but I know it will be afternoon when I finish.)    Late start because I didn't realize Mike wanted to go for some groceries this morning, and now he likes to have me go with him.  Had I but known, I would have posted first, but I didn't.

Another pretty day, perhaps still a bit too warm, but nice.  High 70s.

I started the day off watching the FBI Director's Senate Hearings.  Then I read emails and a few news groups.

Then groceries, and now here I am., behinder than usual. ;-)

Our trash pick up is tomorrow, but it's only trash this week.  I will take the bin to the curb later.   Our bins are huge, but they are on wheels, thank goodness, so pretty easy to get out.  I'd hate to think of either of us lugging them.

Shauna is coming back tomorrow after she finishes cleaning Sherri's house to give us a quick once over before the party.  The house really doesn't need it, everything still looks good, but sometimes by the first weekend things don't look as good as they could, so I asked her to give us an hour tomorrow.  Now this time, of course, it's unnecessary, but if I hadn't asked her, I can guarantee the floors would be all spotted up and dirty.  I can't win!  lol   Anyway, I'll let her come since she has already planned it, and Mike is going to ask her to turn the outside water off for us, so it will still be worth her time and ours.

I got an order from Lancome and they had some gifts with purchase, including two compacts of mascara and a lipstick.  The lipstick is way too light for me and the mascaras have 'sparkles', I think perhaps just a wee bit too young for me.  lol    I will give them to Shauna for herself or her girls, and that will also make me feel less guilty about having her come over.  Ha!  I'm also going to see if she will take that way-too-large bag of way-too-sweet M&Ms.

I hope you are starting to feel better and maybe even getting some sleep.  You have to be feeling great before Saturday ~~ that's an Order!

Love 'n hugs

I let time get away from me so I will chat with you tomorrow.

I have a huge headache and my neck is killing me.

I got a 50% off from Pizza Hut so ordered enough food for the week.

No cooking all week makes mama happy so it makes me happy too.

Plus I get some of my favorite foods.

Love you!!

Is it just me, or is the time really flying on it's way to Fall?

Yesterday after grocery shopping and getting posted and my mail read, I got some laundry done and then washed the glass on the Grandfather clock, which was over due.  There isn't all that much glass, but bending and reaching is a problem for me, and by the time I got the inside done I was in so much pain I couldn't finish.

I think the pain must be what wipes me out so completely, because I surely didn't do enough otherwise to tire myself, but I was really out of it for most of the afternoon.   By late afternoon I was human again, and finished washing the outside of the clock ~ but not much more.

As I said, Shauna is coming for a little while early this afternoon, and I want to have the "Portable Craft Room" put away before she gets here.   Speaking of ~~~ compared to others, I don't have very much Stampin Stuff at all, but what I have is overwhelming my Library storage!  It's a pain to have to gather things from there whenever I want to work, but it's a bigger pain now that the box containing stamps, for example, is full to overflowing and no longer organized.  I'm going to have to add another box!   I just added a larger one for punches.   HELP!

Brilliant idea to order food for the rest of the week so nobody has to cook.  Now you're thinkin' like Mike and me.  I often hear my mother's voice in my head, wondering what the neighbors think about all of our deliveries.  Lol.  Mike couldn't care less what the neighbors think and I'm caught somewhere in between.

Take care of yourself, so you can enjoy your birthday!!

Love 'n Hugs,

Dorothy

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/29/2016 8:20 PM)

Hello, here I am to chat.  I am better today, even though I was up all night and did not sleep until 6 am. but not feeling to bad today.  Still need to get my sleep hours turned around.

Today I got my 2nd card and my 1st gift, both from you.  You made my day.  Both the bear dreaming of cake and the birthday bear with his birthday hat and sugar cookies made me laugh.  I was pigging out on the cookies until I gave them to my mom to eat before I had finished them completely.  You made my day. Another really nice card.  So sweet.of you.  I love your cards and I can tell you that these are far better than most cards I have seen.  Yours look very professionally done. So now I am bestowing upon you professional status!  Congratulations.
Are the test tubes plastic or glass?  I love them.  Are those really M&M minis?  How small are the test tubes?  Really cute idea.  I wonder what others came up with to do with the test tubes?  I thought of jello as it would look like liquids, but they would be so hard to get the jello out, lol.
So, how I know about the surprise party. First, mom said to me that Joanne was having us out to her house on my birthday.  We do not do that. We were just going to have the family over for ice cream and cake. So I was suspicious. Then Joanne called me and told me that she was having us over. She never does that. She usually just tells mom and she tells me.  Then I overheard mom say,,,so you have no idea how many?
Then the next day I ask mom...is it just us or all the family going to Joanne's..She says anyone in the family who can and when asked how are we getting there? She said Josh.  So today I say I suppose Cayla and the girls will be there too and mom says I think Joanne said none of her boys can come.  Brent and Josh have to work.  Brent does not work Sat.  Not sure on Josh.  So then who is picking us up?  Suz.  Who is picking up Diane, I do not know, maybe Joanne.  So she calls Diane and chats and then asks if Joanne was picking her up.and then there is chatter then I hear her say, she know that family is coming over.  Just all suspicious to me.  Louann asked if I as doing anything for my birthday and I said going to Joanne's.  She said we will have to see when we can all get together.  We usually do not wait till after a birthday to make plans.  So we will see.  I could be wrong.
It is a great idea to give those Lancome products to Shauna for her daughter.  Sounds to me like those items were made with young people in mind.  It is great that you have them to give these things to, I am sure they will love them and feel like it is Christmas.
Well, I need to get a move on here.  When is your party?  I cannot remember for the life of me.
XOXOXO

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/30/2016 8:37 AM)

Good Morning.  Happy Birthday Eve!

I'm glad my card and little gift got there yesterday.  I wanted mine to come ahead of everyone else's and to kick your week off.  I pictured you having them up and then adding everyone else's to them.  I'm also glad that only you and your mom were there when the cookies came ~ lol!  There aren't that many, and I really didn't want you to have to share with anyone but your mom.

I'm so glad you like my cards.  I mean, I knew you would like anything someone made for you or sent to you, but you have a critical artist's eye and when you say they are pretty good it means something.  Thank you.  I actually made the same two for Mike's 70th, but yours turned out better. especially the pop out with the dreaming bear.  Don't tell him he was my test case.  lol

The test tubes are plastic.  Those are real M&Ms, but they look like minis to me.  I haven't bought them in so long I honestly don't know if they got smaller over the years or what.  The package doesn't list them as minis.

It definitely sounds like a surprise party to me!  Now the surprise will be if it ISN'T.  ;-)   I hope everyone is on their best behavior and remembers why they are gathered together and you have a wonderful time!  This really is a special birthday, and you deserve to be celebrated royally.

Mike just took his cards and balloons down!  It's been a month, but now the mantle looks BLEAK.  I couldn't believe the balloons lasted so long ~ only the biggest ones had begun to loose it.  The little ones were still up high!    Anyway ~ I don't think you should celebrate for less than a month, either.

It's a bit cooler today ~ mid 70s.  Purrrfect.   We're still not seeing any rain.

Yesterday was exhausting.  I have all the stamina of a dead slug!  Comes from being a professional Hermit, I suspect.

Shauna was supposed to come around 12:30 or 1 o'clock after she finished cleaning at Sherri's, so I didn't waste any time in the morning getting posted, emails read, breakfast, and the a card made so I could take down my Portable Craft Room before she came.

Then Sherri called and said Shauna was going to be late, but could SHE come over after Shauna got there.  She wanted to show me the purchases she had made at Hobby Lobby and ask if she should keep them or take them back.  "Sure.  Come on over".   Then Shauna called to say she'd be late, and Sherri did come over ~ she had some great buys.  She just hasn't done much card making and doesn't have any self confidence.    After she left, she went to the supposedly half price sale at JoAnn's (where she got embossing folders for 5 for $10 ~~ so she bought 10.  lol)   She came back to show them to me and see if they were ok.  "No.  Not ok.  They are GREAT, and a super buy."   I got online at JoAnns to see if they were on sale on line, and they were, for half price, but that was still between $3 and $5 instead of $2 like Sherri got them for.

Then Shauna came and stayed longer than she or I had planned for her to ~ I think she was really getting tired.  While she was here, Sue called asking if I had a certain punch that she needed (I don't) and we talked for a long time. I had to go and sit in our bathroom because Shauna's vacuum is so loud I can't hear over it ~lol.  Then Kathy called to talk about the party and confirm what she was bringing.   I didn't get much done all day except for visiting, and it wore me out.  Ha.

I have several things I'd like to get done today, nothing major, just lots of little things, and a few more to do tomorrow, but basically these should be easy, lazy days.  SHOULD be.  ;-)

Even with my party scheduled for October 2, and that being Sunday, somehow I didn't "get" that this is the last day of September!   My gosh how this month has flown!   Add to my to-do list: Make the October skin!    ~~ Wakey, wakey, Dorothy!  LOL

I got the online Arvada Magazine this morning, telling me how I could register to vote online and providing me with a link.  Of course I have been registered forever, but if I were an Illegal Alien, all I would have to do would be provide my Driver's License number (and Illegals can get Colorado Driver's Licenses, supposedly they have some kind of a color indication that you are illegally here ~ how much sense does THAT make?)  or the last four numbers of your SS number(which you would never just make up), and you are registered to vote here.  Isn't that wonderful?

When we got our Democrat majority in the house and senate the election before last (now only in the House, thank goodness), they passed all sorts of really terrible laws, to my way of thinking. We have voted absentee for years, after proving that we were eligible to, but now In addition to giving driver's licenses to illegals, we now all have mail in votes, and the ballots are sent out to all people, including those who haven't voted in years (maybe because they are dead or moved away or something??).  Last year, some creative Democrats went dumpster diving by housing projects where the residents threw the ballots out because they didn't care about voting no matter how easy it was made for them.  The Dumpster Divers then filled in the ballots FOR the residents!   They were caught and said "Oops.  We were just trying to help."  I wonder if any of their helpful votes were for Romney?

Hmmmm.  Perhaps I should stop reading my email.  It raises my BP.  lol

Much more importantly, have a great Birthday Eve and a wonderful

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
