RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/21/2015 11:14 PM)

Damn, we wanted Walker gone. Now he will be back to annoying us. He could not get anywhere with his "I will get rid of the unions" crap!  Now he will be terrorizing us to make a name for himself so he can run again in 4 years and have a better chance.  There goes the neighborhood.
I took 2 Tylenol with codeine and slept like a baby.  It has hurt a bit off and on today but nothing as bad as last night.  When I was to the dentist last, they wanted to pull a lot of teeth and want me to consider having all the top teeth pulled and get a denture.  I had 2 teeth pulled and even with 2 supplemental policies I still paid out $400. I cannot afford that. The area hurting is the next area to be pulled which is the remnants of 2 or 3 teeth.  I just cannot afford that kind of money. In the past I even had an abscess, but I got an antibiotic from Denise and I rinsed with vinegar a couple times a day. I had to dilute it with water as I just could not tolerate the vinegar directly. That worked really well.  Maybe I should do the rinse again.
We did not watch it either (the Emmy's).  We watched SisterWives.  I did see a lot about Viola and her award today.  It was another speech like Halle Berry's was.  About breaking down the barriers for great roles for Black actresses. Have we not come along farther than that by now?  I hate to say I am tired of hearing it, but I am. So much for being PC.
My news is that I intend to go up North with my friends this weekend, so you will not hear from me Fri, Sat and probably Sun. I know I am going to be a physical wreck when I get home on Sunday evening.  I just thought that I needed to push through the pain and do this. I have a full bottle of Tylenol with Codeine that will go with me.  I am going to make this work.  But if I get sick when I get home it will be the last time I go.  I think the last 2 times that I went, I got sick in the next week. But I am going. Tomorrow I am calling the O2 company and see what they can do for me so that I will have more time out.  With my current setup I can run my 02 with an adaptor in the car.  But it does not charge in the car so I would only have about 2 hours out.  That's not enough so I want to see if I can get another portable tank to take with me. so that I would have more time.  Do not know what that will cost me but at this point I do not care.  Mom has given me money for the weekend as an early Birthday gift.  That means no gifts on my birthday, but that is a-ok with me. I will survive, lol. Plus we are having the ladies here Wed night and possibly that old friend Jean that stopped in a week ago as she worked with them too. She is seeing if she can work it out.  I did not tell the ladies so if she comes it will be a surprise for them. Only thing is that Jean is a serial talker, lol. It is hard to get a word in edgewise.  She talks non stop about people that you do not know and could care less about. So hopefully that ladies with get some talking in. LOL  I have a lot to do before Friday and do not think it will get done.  5 tags for 1 group and 2 for another.  I can do the 2 on Monday.  And I will try to do at least 3 of the ones for the other group.  I just have the mindset that I have to do the challenges.  A bit OCD, lol.
That's about it for me.  Chat with you tomorrow my sister.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/22/2015 11:22 AM)

Good Morning!

Fall is fast approaching, so I thought I'd best use some Summer tags while there is still time.

I made some appointments yesterday for some overdue tasks.  Sometime within the next 7-10 days the Tree Trimmers will come by and give us an estimate for trimming the Spruce tree in the front which is looking positively shaggy, and the Canadian Maple in the back which got damaged in that last snow storm this Spring.  It's pretty close to the house, and I'd rather we be in charge of doing a little trim on the branches that are now hanging low, then wait for Nature to take it's course.
I also made arrangements for some Carpet folks to come to the house with samples tomorrow morning and see if we can find something to replace our carpet in the Morning Room, Library and Great Room and stairs to the basement.  I'd love to have the bedroom done too, but I can't see how we can move the furniture to do it.  They said they would move the furniture as part of the installation, but the furniture in the bedroom is so big and heavy.  We'll have to see.   I love the idea of being able to look at carpet here in the house where you can really see how it would look, but they only carry a relatively small sampling in their truck.  If we can't find anything we like we can go and look at more in the warehouse ~~~ or call someone else to bring samples out ~~~ or do nothing.   This carpet is only four years old, but it's been bad from the start.  Almost everyone I know has already replaced it!   Anyway, we shall see.   I don't look forward to unloading the Curio Cabinet in the Morning Room!

I watched Ben Carson talking in Ohio, or rather fending snarky questions from a typical media dweeb, and I thought Carson was awesome.  I'm sure that isn't the "correct" take-away, but he talked about why he didn't feel that a Muslim who followed Sharia law should be president, because we are not a Theocracy.  I mean, Duh.   Then he went on to address the problem of people (like the dweeb) not being able to understand English because the Culture of Political Correctness has made us "have to" look at every thing through the filter of Political Correctness, and if we don't use the correct PC words, we can't be heard.   I think that is SO true, and SO what is wrong with our poor country, and while the Bad Guys win every round.  The rest of us are held speechless unless we conform.  Drives me crazy, and apparently drives Dr Carson crazy too.    Thus ends my Political Speech for today.  lol

Oh my gosh!  There is a Street Cleaner cleaning the street in front of our house now!!  Yay!

Barb's (Noni2) mother is getting worse, and I fear she doesn't have much time left.  I don't think Barb will make it back to the states to see her,but she did have some good quality time with her when she was feeling good, and that is worth so much.   On a much, much happier note, her kidneys have improved!  She is still in Kidney Failure, but when she first was diagnosed she was at 7% function, and guaranteed to be on dialysis immediately.  Then she was anemic and went to a different Kidney Dr who is Indian and handsome and absolutely wonderful, and she has been working hard and we have been praying hard, and yesterday she was up to 12%!  Still in Kidney failure, but only 3 more points and she will "only" be in Stage 4 Kidney Disease.  It sounds funny to be praying for Stage 4, but when this all began, that seemed almost too much to pray for.

I'm so glad you've gotten mostly on top of your tooth ache, but I hate to tell you, I don't think you are going to be able to go forever without doing something.  On the other hand, I do believe in miracles . . . . . ;-)

Good for you, going for the weekend.  I will pray, hard, that you don't have anywhere near as much trouble as you fear, and that you have a really, really good time!

Nice that you will have a get together with the ladies on Wednesday.  Hopefully Jean won't dominate and make it less pleasurable, but I'm sure you will have a good time anyway!

I completely agree with you about Viola Davis ~ and others.  I'm sure she and others have been on the receiving end of discrimination, but I'm tired of the constant playing of the Victim Card.  I absolutely love Carly's response to Hillary wanting to fight for us poor beleaguered women who can't fight for ourselves.  "We are not a protected class.   We're over half of the population!"   Exactly!   The Blacks are I think something like 12% of the population, and the Victim Class of them seems to feel that if they don't win everything, from every award to every good job and on and on, they are being discriminated against.    I follow a lot of high achieving Black politicians, and not one of them wouldn't be insulted by being considered a victim or in need of someone else to take care of them.    Everyone experiences discrimination ~~~ for being fat, or being old or . . . well, you name it.  Deal with it, and don't accept it!    Sheesh!

I love my beautiful new tag and matching border.  Just lovely.  Thank you!

I had more fun teasing you about Scott Walker  ~~ it didn't occur to me that his dropping out is not necessarily a good thing for his constituents who don't want to be.  Ha.  Hard to guess, but it seems to me that candidates are usually not successful when they try for a second time.  I think some really great candidates have gone down because their time has come ~~ and past.   Kennedy was an exception, but I look at a few really good men who are running for the second time now, and I don't think they have a prayer.    Maybe Joe Biden will, I dunno, but I wouldn't waste too much time worrying about Walker running in 2020.

We do live in interesting ~~ and exhausting ~~ times!

Feel good, and have a happy day!

Hello Sunshine!!

Wow, those carpets really did not last, did they? What a shame that you are having to redo them already. I hope you find something you like right off and do not have to jump through hoops to fine the right one. I know how you will fret over getting the right one.

Walker....what can I say, the countries gain is out loss! But better that he just ruin Wisconsin then the whole country! You can thank us anytime now. LOL  Happy that 2nd chances for running for President do not usually work out. Sadly getting someone who is in office all ready out, is much harder, so we may be stuck with him for a long while.  Are there any restrictions on amount of terms a Governor can be in office, I am not thinking there is. Just like Senators. We were stuck with that dog far to long. Too many people just do not like change.

I choose not to get into an argument over Obama! You dislike him as much as I like him....maybe more, lol.

Poor Barb...too much all at once in her life. Fighting the Kidney failure, her fathers death and her mom dying. That is a lot to deal with. I feel so bad for her.  But Yay for improving her numbers!  She is going to beat this yet. This makes my 40% look like no big deal. I am keeping Barb in my prayers.  God will help, I believe in prayer!!!

I want to be in bed by 1 am tonight.  I need to so that I can go to sleep at a decent hour this weekend. Because Nan will be waking me around 6 and if I go to sleep at 3 that is not enough sleep!

You may not hear from me tomorrow night either. Depends on how late the ladies leave and how exhausted I am.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/23/2015 1:18 PM)

Welcome to Fall.  It's still summery weather here, but there's a clear indication that Fall is on the way ~ though it's officially here today.

Last night we went to the Keg to have a dinner of appetizers, my treat/reward for going through surgery, or maybe it was for the post surgery appointments.  Whatever it was for, I loved it.   Once again I had the wonderful Brie on Croistini with pepper jelly and pesto, and a Raspberry Cosmo.    Mike had his favorite Shrimp Cocktail and Prime Rib sliders with horseradish sauce.   He changed his normal drink order and wanted to try an Old Fashioned because he'd never had one and it sounded good.   My memory from loooong ago was that I didn't much care for them.  He thought it was ok, but next time he's going back to his Makers Mark Perfect Manhattan.  lol   Anyway, it was fun.

This morning we had someone come to show us

carpet samples.   Carpet guy was here for about

2 hours.   He's the owner of an independent

company, and I think they would do a great job

for us, but I asked for a swag estimate, and it

was about twice what I had expected!

Admittedly, when we replaced the carpet at

the old house to sell it, we chose pretty but

fairly cheap carpet, but there were more floor

surfaces to be covered so I wasn't expecting it

to be this much.   We really do want to upgrade

, both pad and carpet, but . . . ka-ching!

Because we don't want to have to do this

again anytime soon, I'd be willing to pay the

price, maybe, but I didn't fall in love with any of

the carpet samples.  You are looking at

thickness and length and softness and all sorts

of other variables, and I can select the ones I

think we'd like best there, but colors and styles

all look too similar and not quite what I'd

envisioned    I'd hate to spend that much and

not love the looks of the carpet.  He left a few

samples with us and is going to drop off a few

more larger pieces of some very small ones

that were in the middle of the sample page and

therefore we couldn't put them on the floor next

to the hardwood.   I wish I felt better about this

.    Shogun likes it.  He hopped right up on the

top of the pile of samples and made himself

 comfy.  lol

It does sound like they will make the installation as easy as it can be on us, moving all the furniture at the time they lay the carpet and protecting the wood floors.  Our furniture in the bedroom is really big and heavy, and he said they might be able to move it to one side and lay that carpet and then move it over to the finished side.   The Carpet laying guy is apparently the very best and insures his work, so he will have to look at it and measure and all before they order ~~~ IF we can decide on carpet.

Well, sheesh.  Some people are never satisfied.   First you don't want Walker for President, and then when he is out you STILL complain.   Some people!   LOL!

No, I don't think there is any point in our discussing Obama.  I suspect you can take how you feel about Walker and quadruple it, and you'd have what I feel about Obama.  No middle ground for us on that one.  ;-)

Yes, I think it's good for you to be aware of what

Barb has been going through, first so you'll

realize that you are still ok and hopefully it will

help you not to worry TOO much, and second

that it worries you enough to be sure you really

try to do all the right things so you DON'T fall

into her situation!   Thank you for keeping her in

your prayers, I know that has made all the

 difference!

Thank you for the lovely tag.   I will peek in each day, but I will understand if I don't see your smiling face, and I don't want you to worry about it.

I really hope you have a great time with the ladies, and way more fun this weekend than you think you might!    Any more problems with the teeth?

Stay healthy and have a GREAT week!

Good Morning.

After our busy morning yesterday, not a lot going on today.   The trash and recycle cans are outside and I have a load of laundry waiting to be folded.  Exciting.  ;-)

After the Carpet guy left, I was sooo tired.   I seem to get a lot more tired from things like that than actual work.   Not feeling great about the possibilities, but I'll wait and see if he drops off more carpet samples.  We kept one 'book' with three large samples of solid colors to look at in various lights, but I think we've pretty much decided against any of them.  I got an email saying that he was going to the warehouse today to order the samples we talked about (only 2, I think) to be sent to us from Stainmaster and look around to see if there were any more he thought we would like.   We're going to go online this morning to see if any thing on their site looks like something we might want, though what you see online and what you see in person are probably not close to being the same.   Not feeling real positive right now, but trying to remain hopeful.

I hope you had a wonderful time with the Ladies last night.  Rest up, and get ready to have a wonderful weekend!

Carpet Samples ~~~   Tom dropped off some more today.   We have two more coming next week, and then I hope we'll be able to make a decision.  Maybe.

What do you think of this for the Library?  It would run in this direction ~ lengthwise from hall to wall.  To busy?   Or interesting??   Shogun likes it.  ;-)   The pattern is created by raised and lower piling, not just a printed pattern.

Color not quite "true", but close.    OR, we could go with the same pattern in a darker color.

Other color options ~~ We considered the second from the left on the top row, too.

The one in the middle on the right (below) is the one we are considering for the Great Room and Morning Room and stairs, and if they can move the furniture, our bedroom ~ today.  Tomorrow might be different.  It's called Gold Rush. Very soft and thick and plush.  On the left is the existing carpet.

On the first row facing us, the second sample from the right would be the Great Room and stairs, and that's really all that would be visible from the Library.

As always, your food at the Keg sounds wonderful and that Raspberry Cosmo sounds heavenly.  I have never liked Old Fashions, but I am a booze wuss.  If I can taste the alcohol, I do not like it...for the most part. That is why I drink Vodka drinks. But my favorite drink is a Margarita.  I like the flavored ones, but I love the regular.  Frozen or on the rocks, either way.

Carpet samples...so many to choose from.  It has to be hard, but I am liking your choices.  I love the different depths helping to create the pattern.  I like the gold rush too.  I do not really like the 2nd from the left top row...looks a bit too dark to me.  I love the rug you have under the table in the library, lol.  I hope something he brings or you get in the mail you love.  Have you considered checking out other places that sell quality carpeting? Maybe they would have more competitive pricing.

I WILL BE COMPLAINING ABOUT WALKER UNTIL THE DAY HE IS OUT OF OFFICE HERE IN WISCONSIN. HIS POPULARITY HAS DROPPED HERE TOO.  SERVES HIM RIGHT.  I WANT TO SEE FEINGOLD BACK IN OFFICE AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM AS GOVERNOR SOMEDAY.  I TOTALLY RESPECT THAT MAN.

Tooth is better but no great, being very careful when chewing.  They not to use the area that hurts.  But I do not think it is going to disappear.  Shit.  I have always had soft teeth and then the inhalers and nebulizers make them worse and so does the dry mouth I get from O2 and meds. I hope it does not get a lot worse this weekend.

Finally got the O2 issue straightened out.  They have given me a different battery operated portable machine and it has removeable batteries and they gave me 3 batteries which should last 2 hours each and this one will charge when plugged in in the car.  Problem is it is bigger and much heavier.  It has a little cart for it.  Also has shoulder strap, but I would not be able to carry that thing very far, it is far to heavy.  When in W/C we could use the strap to hang it on back of chair, but then I would have to try and carry it if I walk into a restaurant, unless I stay in W/C.  We will see.  I am supposed to bring something along that I want to drink but have been unable to get to the store.  I had to ask Suz to get the O2 for me and she will return it on Mon. So am going to have to pick something up, up north. Or I will pick up some bottles of water from a soda machine.  I have nothing to bring to treat with either.  We all usually bring snack items.  Oh well, I hope they will understand.  I know they will, but still, I feel bad.  Gotta go.  Want to be in bed by 1am.

I will not be on till maybe Sun, not wifi up there.

Hugs,

I do not know how these got white backgrounds.  They are not supposed to have them.

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/25/2015 10:56 AM)

Quick note.  Barb's mom died last night.  It's a blessing because she really didn't feel too bad for too long, only the last few days.  Hospice nurse was coming daily and when she felt the time was right they had a room in Hospice lined up for her.   She didn't have to leave her home, but died there surrounded by family.

Barb was home in June to bury her dad, and spent some quality time with her mom and siblings.  Then after her mom was diagnosed with fast moving cancer, she went back last month and spent nearly a month there, while her mom was still feeling good.   Of course she would have wanted to be with her in the end, but she knows that her mom was not herself in those last days, and is so glad she had the 'good' time with her.    She will go back for the funeral and burial next month.

No other news here except that they are mowing and trimming the lawn and are soooo noisy, and Shauna is here whipping our house into shape ~ oh, and the Tree trimming guy came yesterday and dropped off an estimate.  We get a 10% discount if we have it done in the Winter, which we planned to do with the Maple anyway, but they also want to do the Spruce in February and that's a disappointment because it's looking a bit shaggy.    It wouldn't if it weren't so close to the house, but you know we have a yardage instead of a yard.  It's almost touching the house and needs to be trimmed.   I did some online research and it seems that while Spruce trees don't need to be trimmed, when you do prune dead branches (which we don't have), you do it in the Winter.   Still not sure why. Anyway, that's all the news that's fit to print from here.

Have a wonderful weekend!   I'm so glad you got a better traveling concentrator ~ or at least one that allows you to be out and about for longer!

I'm sure no one will mind that you didn't bring treats to share ~ but I know you feel disappointed.  I would too.  Don't let it worry you, and have a great time!

Oh!  And did you see?   John Boehner resigned as House Speaker!   I was delighted with the news, but I feel bad that he is leaving Congress altogether late in October, and I feel kind of sad for him.   He is a good man, just not a good Speaker of the House.   More RINO than Republican ~~ which you probably like.  lol

Hugs,

Dorothy

RE:WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:09/28/2015 8:10 AM)

Morning.

Did you have a nice weekend?   We did ~ quiet, but nice ~ or so we thought.  I just got an email from Barb that she had spotted water running from one of our sprinkler heads down the street at 9 o'clock last night, and she turned our water off and called Bill (the HOA guy in charge), who came over and did something to the sprinkler head, and the Irrigation people are coming out today!   All while we were snuggled up, oblivious inside.   Thank God for good neighbors!

Oh My Gosh, did I get a scare yesterday!   I was making the new skins for TnT on my backup site, and having a terrible time I might add.  I can't put up Forum Icons for one thing ~ it looks like they are there in the Control Panel, but when you look at the actual page, they are not.  I haven't heard anyone complaining on the Help Forums, but I did leave a question there yesterday.

Ah, but that wasn't my Big Scare.   I was going back and forth between control panel and actual skin, saving when the preview looked ok, etc.  Then I looked and the skin I had up was CUPPA's!   Oh my LORD ~ I didn't even remember going into Cuppa, but I am an Admin, so if I had been pharting around with it, I could have changed it ~~~ and I couldn't possibly go back to the way you had it!   I know how hard you work to make our lovely skins, and I know how busy you've been, and here I had wiped your skin out and made a horrid mess!  I don't even particularly like the one I'm making now, so it wouldn't be even slightly acceptable.   I could imagine your coming back and seeing the mess I had made, and I literally felt sick!

Then I thought 'maybe . . . if I clear cache . . . ' and thank God that worked!  I have no idea why it LOOKED like I was changing the Cuppa skin, but I wasn't and hadn't!  Oh my Lord ~ Heart Attack!  LOL  And that was my 'Fun' for yesterday.   I hope you had a whole lot more fun.  LOL

Have a Happy Day.

Hello1

Cooler today, only supposed to be 75.  Nice.  ;-)

We had a major hailstorm several months ago, and roofers have been trolling the neighborhood wanting to check out the roofs for damage.  I have no doubt they would find some ~ no matter what.  We have declined, but several of the other neighbors have had it checked and are re-roofing.  One woman got a quote of $14,000!  I know Insurance would take care of most of it, but still!

The house across the street (the one that used to be Sherri's) was re-roofed yesterday.   First I thought that we wouldn't be able to sit in the "Morning Room" directly across from them because of the noise.  I remember terrible noise when they re-roofed our house and others in our old neighborhood.  Instead, while we could hear the hum of their equipment and the slap of the nail gun, it was not loud at all ~~~~~ until I opened the door to go to the mailbox.  Then OMG was it ever loud out there!   I guess even our windows are fairly well "insulated".

On the down side, I know when they re-roofed our old house, they put up individual shingles, and I thought (still think) that's what we have on our current house.   Across the street, the "shingles" were in about 3 foot strips, maybe 8 inches wide (or so it looked from here).  They flopped when put up like lightweight linoleum, and each 3 foot strip got 4 or 5 nails.   They did it all in one day.  It may be my imagination, but it really does look like old fashioned linoleum to me.  Sue and John's house next door to them, the shingles look tight and much more attractive and like maybe they are individual shingles like I had thought we all had.   I don't know if this is the way all roofs are put up now or not, but it surely doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling, for when we need to re-roof one day.  smiley68

I'm so glad you had a great time, in spite of the discomfort in the car.  It's been so long since you really had a wonderful get-away weekend with your friends!   Makes my face smile!

On the other hand, now you are feeling bad.   I wonder if it isn't a result of getting too tired while you were gone.   I used to take "Cheapie Charter' trips in my long lost youth, and we'd go non stop the whole week or more that we were gone.  Then as soon as we were flying home, I'd start to get sick, and come down with a world class viral cold.  Every time!  I hope that's all it is and you don't get really sick!

Lovely having you home, sweet sister!

Ooh, and another beautiful tag, too.  Thank you!!   Muah!

I SENT A MESSAGE TO MY DOCTOR AND A NURSE CALLED ME BACK
.
SHE IS NOT IN TODAY.  SO CHOICES WERE TO COME IN AND SEE

SOMEONE ELSE,AS THEY WOULD NOT JUST ORDER ME SOMETHING.

OR WAIT FOR DENISE TO BE IN TOMORROW MORNING. SO I CHOSE

WAIT. NO WAY TO GET TO THE DOCTOR AND I GET SO SHORT OF

BREATH. DID I INCLUDE THE FACT THAT MY URINE JUST RUNS OUT

OF ME WHEN I STAND UP.THOUGH THAT HAS NOT HAPPENED TODAY.

BUT NOW THE COUGH IS PRODUCTIVE AND THE PHLEGM IS THICK

AND DARK KHAKI GREEN SO THEN I KNEW IT WAS RESPIRATORY.

THIS IS TAKING FOREVER BECAUSE I KEEP FALLING ASLEEP AND HAVE

TO FIX MY TYPING MISTAKES.  SO THIS IS TO TELL YOU THAT THE NEW

SKIN AND WALL WILL BE LATE. THIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING TO BE A

PATTERN NOW, LOL.

HUGS, LOU ANN
