Hello and Welcome to October and most importantly ~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I hope you are having a purrrfect Birthday!

I LOVE the new October Skin and the Welcome to October page! Deliciously Halloweeny and Octobery!

I think I am in good shape for the shape I'm in for the party tomorrow.   Oh, dear!   Have I just tempted the Fates again?

Mike's Bourbon slush turned out good!  Of course we had to try it in the Library last night to be sure it was good enough to serve.

Today is World Card Making Day, and I can't make a card today because my Portable Craft Room is put away, and will remain so until after the party tomorrow.  I'll have to be a day late and make a card (or three) tomorrow.

I hope your Big Birthday is completely purrrrfect in every way!

RE:WELCOME TO OCTOBER CHAT

The Party's over . . .   ;-)

I can't find any musical notes to put around that, but hum along with me.  Everything went well, but very typically Dorothy.  We were so well organized, but didn't want to put things out early because of the cat.  We should have locked him up early and gone ahead and gotten things done, because when we waited as long as we could, we really had to rush, and typically me, I forgot to do some things. (Smacking myself in the dumb head!)   Still, all in all, it went well I think, and we made some darling cards.

This was the Feeding Station.

Ice Tea, Limeade and Bourbon slush in ice buckets, then glasses, plates and napkins and finally my Braunschweiger Pate' and Port Wine Cheese Ball and crackers, and a plate of frosted pumpkin and ghost cookies and shortbread cookies.

Naturally I got caught up in the conversation and activities and forgot to take a picture of all the cards and things Kathy put out on the desk, and worst of all, I asked Sue to sign my guest book when she came a bit early, but forgot to ask anyone else!   Aarrgghh.  Some of them have been here so many times over the five years we've been here, and I always forget to ask them to sign the guest book.  Again, smacking my head!

I did put out my Paper Pumpkin kit filled with the test tube treats, but I didn't take another picture of it.  Everyone really liked them and I think I only have 2 or 3 left out of the 16.

That worked well for Kathy too, because right now there is a BOGO sale of Paper Pumpkin memberships (Sign up for November and get December free, plus you can buy any remaining earlier kits still available).

We went right to work and made the most difficult card first.  (Kathy is so smart).  It's a 'Spinner' Card, with the little witch literally spinning as she flies over the moon!

I also forgot to take pictures of the inside of the cards. Maybe I'll do that later.

After the first card, people started heading for the Feeding Station and helping themselves, which was just what I wanted them to do. They seemed to like everything, especially the Braunschweiger Pate, and while almost everyone (but me) said they didn't usually have alcohol during the day (yeah. right.  I've BEEN to your parties!  Ha!)  there isn't a whole lot of the slush left!  Ha.  Side note:  I put it out to un-freeze about an hour early, and it took close to three hours to actually turn into slush.  I promoted it earlier as a whisky snow cone.  lol

Back to work.  Second card ~

Inside is really cute, too.

Third Card ~

Then she had us stamp any or all of the three guys on the card above, and then color them and punch them out and add them to a long piece of cardstock where we had punched the top and bottom with a scalloped punch with a hole in it.  She had some of those (can't think of the name, but they are tubes that glow in the dark), and we wove them through the paper.  Darling hand outs for kids ~ or maybe even adults.   No pictures, sorry.

I think a good time was had by all, but boy did it get tired out afterwards.  lol   Roxie brought me a small pumpkin, so now I have a cute decoration ~~ that I may not be able to put out because of Shogun.  He's been much better, but definitely hasn't worked his way up to good!

Ok.  Your turn!  I want to hear all about your Big and very special birthday!

Keep on Partying ON!

Good Morning.

It's going to be a bit cooler today, only in the high 60s.  Nice.   The leaves are changing, but as I had feared, they aren't pretty.  Just brown and a hint of yellow or red ~ and then gone.  Bummer.  I love Fall, but maybe since we aren't taking our driving trips to the mountains anymore, it doesn't matter as much that it won't be spectacular.  Or, maybe it is in places, just not down where I live.

I have so much stuff I haven't gotten done that needs to be done.  Will I get it done today?  I dunno.  I hope so.

I'm so sorry about your post.  Aimoo makes me CRAZED!   For me, unless I do something stupid, it's the bunched together text I so often get.  Can't read it, and can't fix it.  Aarrgghh.

I'm sorry I missed your post.   Hopefully tomorrow's (today's?) will go smoothly.

Are you still celebrating your special day?  You should be!

RE:WELCOME TO OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/05/2016 8:29 AM)

Good Morning.

While I only got three hours sleep the night before last, I actually did get some things done ~ for a change.  Then I fell asleep watching my Soap. lol

The device I have been doing my blood test with has been recalled.  Apparently it is inaccurate for some people, depending on certain health issues.  I have had mine checked three times by taking the test and having it done at the same time at the Lab, and it's remarkably accurate.  I talked to the company yesterday and they are sending me a new device and I will return the old one.  It sounds like the new one will be more challenging for me, because you can't in any way touch the device or the strip once it's ready ~ and it sounds like I have to wait a couple of minutes for it to be ready.  While my numbers are often toward the high side, the blood doesn't pour out of my finger as well as it might and I frequently have to pump and then more or less lay the blood (not my finger!) on the strip rather than letting it fall.  This may be a bit of a problem for me.  It seems to me that never, ever, when a change is made is it something better.  Ha.  Oh, well.   As long as I can keep doing it from home, I will find a way to make it work.

In the afternoon, Sue came over to loan me her "Misti", a device intended to make stamping and re-stamping easier.  She has had it for a while but hasn't used it, and she wanted me to try it out while she is in Hawaii.  We visited and I will try the device out in the next week.

Last night we watched the Vice President Debate.  I imagine everyone saw it differently based on what their bias is, although the undecided in the Focus groups saw it as I did.

At noon today, Mike has a dental appointment he is not looking forward to.  I will go with him.  Prayers, please.

He said something about going to dinner at the Bonefish tonight, but I'm not sure how he will feel after the appointment.  We'll see.

Have a happy day, and Party ON!

that I have not been here.
Thur Oct 6
Carole and Gloria are coming and we
will be celebrating again. Then I hope I am done.
A whole week of celebrating would probably kill me.
The Party
Ok, so I knew in my heart is was a surprise party.
But I kept telling myself that maybe I was wrong.
So when I get there and walked in I really was
momentarily stunned, lol.  Lots of people, lots of kids.
Lots of noise and it got too warm for me.
Guest List
Family
Mom
Joanne and Dave
Brent
Josh and CeeCee with Morgan and Maxie
Jason
Diane
could not come, she is having trouble and a whole
lost of pain with the nerves in her hands, wrist arms.
Such a shame, she would really have enjoyed getting out.

There was $60.
Gary and Steve $25 Visa Gift Card and a Unicorn Coloring
Book and a pack of beautiful glittery colored pencils with
black wood.  I was told those are the only colored pencils
that should ever be used to color Unicorns, lol. Also a little
pink rubber Unicorn with beautiful man and tail with a brush.
Maxie (4) wanted me to open it and I never saw it again.  I
did tell her she could keep it before I left.
There were balloons everywhere and the kids had fun playing
with them and having balloon fights.
Here are some pics!
There were only 5 candles but the camera made them look so bright!

Reid wanted pic of me with him and his kids but then Liam wanted them to play
so Kirstie tried to get him to stay in pic but he did not want to have anything to
do with me.  Yet earlier he gave me big hugs and kisses and said Happy Birthday LouLou.

Here I am being beaten up by
Liam and Maxie with balloons.

Oh Sunday Louann picked me up and we picked up A&W and took it to her house, Nan and Bruce were waiting to watch Reign.  It is an excellent show and you can hardly wait to see the next episodes.  It has finished it's 3rd season and each season has
about 20 episodes in it.  I think we are on episode 10 or 11.
Then Nerissa joined us with Olivia.  She just seems like a little princess to me.  Nerissa had to have her without the epidural because of the stupidity and slowness of staff at the hospital. But she looks perfect to me.  One of the nurses said "Your baby is really beautiful and believe me when I say not all babies are beautiful. lol.  I just want to call her princess, Princess Olivia.

I held her well over a half hour and she had he eyes open the whole time.  She even smiled at me several times.  She just melts my heart.  Tomorrow I will share some of the pics Bruce took of her.  They are heavenly!
Also meant to tell you that your party looked and sounded fabulous!!  The cards are wonderful and I would really like to see the inside of them.  Also would love to see a pic of the thing you made with the light stick and the cut out stamps.  Please tell me how you make the Braunschweiger Pate.  I want to make it.  Where were your yummy looking frosted cookies from?  We always used to make Vodka Slush for Christmas.  We would use the Lime, Cherry or Orange flavored Vodka.  It had tea had to  boil green tea bags and sugar and lemonade in it. Not sure if anything else.  It was delicious and went down far to easy.  We have not made it in a long, long time.
Ok, so am saying good night now.  Mom is actually letting me watch Lethal Weapons and if I am lucky, Criminal Minds after.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/06/2016 7:57 AM)

Good Morning

Finally, the cool (cold?) weather.  It will only be in the mid 50s today, with rain in the morning that has already started.  Not heavy rain, so far, but rain.

For the last two nights I've gotten about 3 hours of sleep, and last night I don't think I got much more than one hour.  I have a feeling this isn't going to be my best day ever.  Sigh.

Mike's dental appointment went much better than he had anticipated.  It was supposed to take about an hour, but he was out and smiling in 40 minutes, with two teeth drilled and filled.   Apparently one of the additional joys of Parkinson's is problems with your teeth ~ like Parkinson's didn't bestow enough goodies.   Anyway, this appointment went very well.  He has another on the 27th to have some teeth pulled, so I'll be back begging prayers later.

Since everything went so well, we went to the Bonefish for dinner last night ~ Maple Bourbon Salmon on a Cedar Plank.  Really delicious.  They had Pumpkin Ravioli, too, but it was served with (ugh) swordfish, so we didn't get any.  I guess we could have asked them to substitute. We shared an appetizer of lobster stuffed shrimp, and for Dessert?  We shared Pumpkin Cream Brulee.  All in all, a lovely meal ~~ AND we both brought half of it home for dinner tonight.  (Not the cream brulee  or the appetizers. smiley77)

Luckily nothing much on my agenda for today, because I suspect I wouldn't accomplish much no matter how much was on my agenda.  I do have a load of clothes to fold and a few other things I'd like to get done before Shauna comes tomorrow.  The main part of the house is still pretty clean since it's only been a week  (I would hope so!  ha!), so we plan to ask her to help with a couple of things in the garage and to turn the outside water off for us.  It's easy for her and hard for us.

I am expecting a delivery from Stampin Up today with the tools to make my Christmas cards.  I hope I haven't been way too over ambitious.  If I were smart, I would just buy my cards, but Nooooo.  lol

I am also getting a new meter to take my at home blood tests with.  My old one was recalled because it was inaccurate for some people with physical issues that I don't have.  I've had the old one tested with the Lab's results three times over the years and it is always perfect.   The new one sounds like it will be harder to use, but I'll jump through whatever hoops I have to in order to keep testing from home rather than from the Lab.    My blood test is due today, so I will test with the old meter and then start reading up on the new one when it arrives.  I'll have to send it back, too, but I think I will wait until I do a test with the new one, so I can test with the old one at the same time and see how accurate the new one is.

Whoa ~ not getting any sleep makes me WAY to chatty, doesn't it.  lol

Only other thing I wanted to say was how horrible the hurricane warning area looks like and how my prayers are with them.

I LOVE seeing the pictures, and your birthday party sounded wonderful!   I don't think I even KNOW 25 people, much less have 25 who want to celebrate with me!  You are loved ~ and the celebration continues!   Wonderful gifts, too!

I've never seen a cake divided into quarters that way ~ it sounds wonderful!

We haven't watched Reign yet, but it sounds like we need to.  Other friends have watched and enjoyed it too.

Princess Olivia ~ how lovely that you got to spend so much time with her.  She is beautiful!

I got the frosted cookies from Cheryl's (online).  We really like their cookies, though we don't have them too often.

I have made that Braunschweiger Pate' for years for Christmas.  It's very easy, but pretty good.  Everyone seemed to like it. Sue took some home and told John he needed to have some.  He's almost a vegetarian, and he said "No, thanks".  Sue said "Take some!", and they ended having it for dinner that night.  He liked it.   It must have been a pretty small dinner, cuz I don't think she took all that much.  ;-)

Recipe is simple.  2 lbs of good braunschweiger, 2 8 oz boxes of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and 1/2 cup of chopped olives (or you could use celery or onions or something else), plus more olive slices for decorating.   Mix the braunschweiger and one box of cream cheese and the olive pieces together until blended well and form into a ball.  Refrigerate for a few hours (I usually leave it in the fridge over night).

Then cream the other box of cream cheese so it's spreadable, and "ice" the pate' ball.  Then I slice some olives and decorate the sides.  That's it.

Kathy posted a picture of the things she made at our party in an online Demonstrator Group, and she included the tag with the Glow Stick.  Here 'tis.  The tag says "No tricks, just treats"

Thank so much for my lovely new tag.  I love it!!

Good Afternoon.

Shauna was here this morning so I didn't attempt to sign in.   Cool again today ~ Mid 60s.  I like it.

I tried yesterday twice to get my finger stick blood test done with the old machine, and I couldn't get enough blood out of my finger either time to test.   I gave up and later the new machine came.  More complicated than the old one, but I think I can handle it.   Since I couldn't ring a drop out yesterday, I decided to wait until tomorrow and test with the new machine, and if I can to test right after that with the old machine to see how close the results are.    Fun, fun, fun.  Ha.

GOT UP TO BATH ROOM, FALLING ASLEEP AND MOM WOKE ME TO EAT LUNCH AND THEN I DOZED SOME MORE.  NOT FEELING AS BAD TODAY BUT NOT FEELING GOOD EITHER.  BUT THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

WE HAVE HAD DAYS AND DAYS OF RAIN AND NOW ARE FACING A WEEK WITH NO RAIN IN THE RAIN IN THE FORECAST...YAY FOR THAT.  THINGS ARE TOO WET FOR FARMERS TO GET CROPS IN SO SOME DRYING OUT WILL HELP A LOT.  ALSO MINOR FLOODING.  THOUGH GLORIA TOOK A BIG HIT ON FLOODING WHERE SHE LIVES.  THEIR OLD FARM HOUSE HAS DIRT FLOORS IN THE BASEMENT, NOW THEY ARE FINALLY GOING TO HAVE IT CEMENTED. THEY HAVE A HOBBY FARM.  BOTH SHE AND HER HUSBAND ARE RETIRED.  SHE WOULD LIKE TO SELL THE FARM AND MOVE INTO A CITY BUT HUBBY DOES NOT WANT TO.  SHE LIVES IN THERESA AND CAROLE LIVES IN ROSENDALE,  WE NEED TO RESCHEDULE.

I AM HAPPY TO HEAR THAT MIKES DENTAL APPT WENT SO WELL. BUT TO TELL THE TRUTH, YOUR MEAL OUT DOED NOT APPEAL TO ME VERY MUCH AT ALL.  MAPLE BOURBAN SALMON DOES NOT SOUND GOOD TO ME AT ALL. ON THE OTHER HAND I DID HAVE A SWORDFISH STEAK WHEN I WAS IN MAINE AND IT WAS DELICIOUS.  I HAD SQUASH RAVIOLI AT THE FIRESIDE DINNER THEATER AND IT WAS GOOD...MUCH TO MY SURPRISE AS I DO NOT LIKE SQUASH.  I DO NOT LIKE PUMPKIN EITHER, BUT I LIKE THINGS WITH PUMPKIN IN THEM..  BUT NO PUMPKIN PIE.  I HAS CREME BRULE AT THE FIRESIDE ALSO THOUGH IT WAS NOT PUMPKIN.  CANNOT REMEMBER.  MOM AND I BOTH HAD TWO BECAUSE ME SISTERS WOULD NOT EAT IT.  THEY DID NOT LIKE THE TEXTURE.  THEY THOUGHT I WOULD NOT EAT THE RAVIOLI BUT I DID,  CANNOT DAY I LOVED IT BUT IT WAS TOLERABLE.

I LOVE THAT YOU ARE MAKING YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS CARDS.  I WANT TO HEAR MORE ABOUT MISTI AND HOW IT WORKS.  I SO WANT TO MAKE CARDS BUT I HAVE NOTHING LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE.  I ONLY HAVE STUFF FOR STAMPING CARDS,,,NOTHING MUCH AT ALL LIKE ALL THE WONDERFUL PAPERS, ETC.  AND YOU BIC ? (CANNOT RECALL IT'S NAME) AND IT'S FOLDERS.  I HAVE ONE I GOT LAST YEAR THAT I HAVE CUT.  LOOKS A LOT LIKE SOMETHING YOU WOULD MAKE.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE BRAUNSCHWEIGER PATE RECIPE.  I KNOW MY MOM WOULD LOVE IT TOO. THOUGH STEVE IS A VEGETARIAN AND WOULD NOT EAT IT.  BUT THERE IS ALWAYS PLENTY OF OTHER FOOD WHEN WE GET TOGETHER.

I NEED TO READ MY EMAIL.

CHAT WITH YOU TOMORROW.

HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/08/2016 8:49 AM)

Good Morning and

I am going to have to make this fairly short.  Easy to do if you are talking about my life, not so easy to do if we want to discuss the News!  Have mercy ~ between Matthew and Hillary's released documents and Trumps "revelation" from 11 years ago, well, don't let me get started.  I wasn't planning to watch the debates tomorrow night, but now I may have to.   Can you even believe that these two are our candidates for President?  Lord help us.

I need to do my blood test with my new meter, and if I can, do it also with my old meter to compare.  I certainly hope I have better luck than I did the last time!

Then the city has a Shred-a-thon going on from 8 - 12 at the Arvada Center.  It is just a few blocks from us but the last time they had one, two years ago, there was such a long line of people bringing their documents to be shredded that it took quite a while. It's a nice set-up because you can remain in your car and the volunteers take the bags of material to be shredded and you give a donation to a good cause.

Why is everything always at the same time?!  Hmmm.  Maybe I'll wait and do my tests tomorrow when I won't be rushed, since I'm late anyway.    Ahhh.  I feel better now. ;-)  Well, about this morning's plans anyway.

BTW ~ I got a GOOD night's sleep last night, finally!  Mike was up and heading for the living room and I still hadn't stirred, so he woke me.  I suspect my sleeping hard like that reminded him of 21 years ago, when he came down from his office to get a cup of coffee and asked me if i wanted a refill.   I said yes, but by the time he brought it to me in the living room, I was "asleep", and he couldn't wake me.  Neither could the EMTs or the people at the hospital applying the paddles to me.  I imagine that is a memory that will remain ~~~ but no worries!   I just got a GOOD night's sleep for a change.

I'm so sorry you have been sick again, and that you are going to have to delay your next birthday celebration.

You asked about the Misti, and I will come back and share a video that shows how it works.  Basically, you position a stamp where you want it, then close a 'lid' on the other side which picks up that stamp.  From then on, you can just reink and close the lid to position the stamp in exactly the same place, whether you are re-inking an image that didn't get enough ink, or mass producing cards and want them to all have the stamped images in the same place.

I don't know what you mean by BIC.

It would be so great if we were close enough to play together, or at the very least to share the equipment and ideas we have!

Thank you for the beautiful tag!

Well, I'd best run and get some clothes on.  Feel better!

smiley35

Hello!
Darn it!  I woke up at 4 AM again this morning.  I blame the News.   I truly hate the "Media", and I wish them all even more sleepless nights than I am having.   So there!

Aside from that, I finished a Birthday card for Next Door Barb's 65th birthday on Tuesday.  I actually combined the two cards I made for you into one (front of the one with the lattice and "65" and the inside of the Pop-Up).   I wanted to get it into the mail last night so I rushed, and I left the strings of the balloons on the inside protion of the card off.  I intentionally left them off the ones on the front of the card because they would run into the sentiment ~ and besides, anyone who knows me knows my balloons would likely get away from me and float free ~ lol.    Probably not that big, or maybe not even something she will notice, but I felt terrible about it when I realized.  I am making this new "hobby" stressful instead of fun for myself.  I have GOT to have a mind change here!  LOL
We are taking her out to dinner on Wednesday at a new restaurant in our area that is getting really good reviews.  She is working at the Spanish Food Bank on her actual birthday on Tuesday.

I have several more cards I want to make, and doggone it(!), I'm gonna have FUN with them instead of getting myself all bent out of shape.   Honestly, I am such a DoDo sometimes.  (laugh)

I also need to do that new blood test today.  Wish me luck!

The Shred-a-thon took a bit longer than it had the last time we did it.  It's all in the timing I suspect.  This time we "hit" a busy time with cars pouring in from both sides on the street we were on, PLUS on the street at right angles to the Arvada Center for the Performing Arts.   They really have it set up in the best way possible so you drive in a way that spreads out the traffic, and then reach someone holding out a pot for donations, then come to one of the shredding centers, where someone takes your bags or boxes from your car and over to the shredders for you.  Basically, it couldn't be easier.    Naturally we went out to breakfast afterwards!

I see from your post that you had more "fun" with Aimoo and or The Net!   I'm so sorry.   I feel your frustration ~~ and for myself as well cuz I didn't get to see what you were trying to post.   Darn it anyway!

I hope today you are feeling better and everything you plan goes well, be it a visit with your friends or a post here.

I do not know who to blame for last nights disappearance.  I do not know if it was Aimoo, or just a glitch, or what, but it made me so angry that I just shut it all down and went off. So disgusted.

So any way, doing a whole lot of nothing, Wed visited with my sister.  I thought was would sit and chat but she put on DVD of Carol Burnett lost episodes, but she put on a bonus DVD which had some other TV shows she did.  One was Carol with Lucille Ball and Zero Mostel;  It was quite cute.  Another was "Once Upon a Mattress", the adult version of Princess and the Pea, which was really quite funny.  She also shared some of her homemade treats.  Peanut Squares that s friends mom made.  They were the best I have ever had.  I want her to get the recipe. We were there for about 3 1/2-4 hrs. Louann dropped us off and Suz picked us up after work. I was very uncomfortable there and was very happy to head home. It takes me so long to recover and I will hurt the next day.  I think that is what got me ill is having 2 events 2 days in a row.  Anyway, I feel better now.  So onward I go.

I bet that Barb will never even notice missing balloon strings, as always you worry too much.  Wow, Barb is like the Energizer Bunny...she just keeps going.  Does she ever just kick back and totally relax?  She certainly deserves too.

I wish you could get more consistent sleep quantity and quality, and that goes for me too. On again off again just does not do it. It just seems so fleeting.  I know in my case, more regularity would help.  Having a set bedtime and awake time is good for your body, but I do not like the loss of my freedom to choose. But I also do not like not being able to do anything the next day because I am so tired.  I know you know how that feels.

That Shredathon sounds like a wonderful thing. Wish we had something like that.  Though the recycling center claims you can throw away your papers safely, but I do not see it.

I am going to share some pictures that Bruce took of Olivia during her first week,.

Hugs,
