It's Black Friday.  Are you going shopping?   Did you shop yesterday?  I did do a little shopping on line, I admit.  Godiva had a really good sale and no shipping so I ordered several small boxes of truffles to give the people who deliver to us all year.  Then I got an email from Barb asking me to order something for her from Amazon Prime (no shipping charges, and I have it delivered directly to her), so I did that.

Maybe half an hour later she called and said she was outside and if we had some trash we wanted taken to the curb, that we should open the garage door and she would do it.   (How many folks do you know who have a Surgeon taking out their trash? lol).  Yes Ma'am, I'll be right there.  I think either Barb or Jake on the other side of our house will bring the empty can back up to the garage, so I won't have to attempt my Sidewalk Ballet and we will have the trash disposed of.  One more thing for me to be thankful for.

It snowed over night again, and more is expected during the day.  The temp is 14 degrees(!) and we're heading for a "High" of 19!  Brrrrrrr.  Guess I'll just have to stay in our cozy home by the fire and drink hot chocolate instead of "enjoying" all the Black Friday crowds to get those Bargains.  Darn. smiley79

I hated that you couldn't go to Joanne's for Thanksgiving dinner with the family, but I do think you were smart to stay away from the germs.  Mike and I both think that leftovers are the best part of Thanksgiving dinner.  When we go out for the dinner, we still "make leftovers".  ha.  This year we got a stuffed turkey breast from Omaha Steaks instead of just getting a plain old turkey breast.  It looked great, but it was tough and along with my dressing, disappointing.  Omaha Steaks used to have consistently great food, but not so much anymore.  You can still get some great things and if you wait for the sales, at great prices, but you have to be selective ~~ and not adventurous for Thanksgiving!  Oh, well.    Lately things that I have been making quite successfully for years and years have become rather hit or miss, and so it was with my dressing this year.  Not 'bad', just not as good as it should have been.  I may be reaching the point where I will have to have someone else come in and cook for me.  (I wish!  LOL)

It sounds like you worked your buns off.  Having just played the Carpet Game, you definitely have my sympathy!   Still, it will be nice when Chris and Scott get it clean for you.  I love the way having a really clean house ~ and floor ~ make me feel.    Like you, I have so much stuff stored in 'handy' spots.  We have the big storage rooms in the basement where we could put everything we weren't using at the minute, but that's hardly handy and highly unlikely!   I know what you are going through.

We watched two different versions of 'A Christmas Carol' after the Miracle on 34th yesterday.  I can promise you that we will watch those two multiple times along with every other version of "Scrooge" that has ever been produced ~ lol  What can I say?  We love our Dickens.   Usually the Albert Finney musical version kicks us off, so I'm sure it will appear soon.  Then the Patrick Stewart version, and then on and on, ending with Magoo's Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.  It's tradition!

What a beautiful post.  I'm going to 'steal' your border and maybe share it with the TnT gals.  So pretty.

smiley98

Have a wonderful day.  I need COFFEE!

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/27/2015 10:00 PM)

I was alright being home, but it did make it seem to be just another day.  I did so enjoy the pie.  I had pecan pie with butter pecan ice cream ala mode last night and it was delish.  Tonight I had the apple pie just plain.  It too was delish.  I think mom said Diane bought the pies at school.  Home Ec depts make the pies and sell them and the proceeds goes to supplies.
Today sucked!  No Scott and Chris and we knew they had gone out last night.  Mom finally knocked on their door to give them some cran-raspberry jello.  She said she had not forgotten us and they would be over right after lunch.  At about 2ish she came in and was going to vacuum.  But something was wrong with hers so she said she would get Scott to fix it.  Then she came back and said her son was coming over to show her his deer.  He would not stay long.  Ok.  It got to be 4 and still they did not come so mom knocked on their door.  She told them it would have to wait till tomorrow as it was now too dark in the room since there was no overhead light.  Chris said they would be over at 10am tomorrow.  I had moved all my stuff into the dining room....my insulin and testing stuff, meds, nebulizer, inhalers, etc.  Also had set up my laptop in there. Had to move it all back and plug everything in again.  Pain in the ass.  I wanted to write something down and had no pen or paper.  Makes me mad.  Mom paid them a long time ago for this, so it better get done.

You really are quite lucky.  You have such wonderful neighbors who watch out for you.  This neighborhood used to be that way, but it has lost a lot of that.  Aging is a big part of it, or health.  We all need help, lol.

I did a little on-line shopping.  Got a sweatshirt H oodie, sherpa lined with an inside pocket for my BIL Jerry.  I have his name and Suz could not find one for him.  I found one at Sears. What a deal I got, it was $60, Black Friday sale 50% off.  Then I saw a banner that you could save more depending on how much you spend and they based it on the original cost and I got another $10 off so it was $19.99, with S&H and tax it came to $30.43 and we are supposed to spend $30 so Yippee all done.  Also got mom some leg warmer mukluks on Amazon at a lightning sale.  I got those for $19.99 and free shipping.  They were originally $33, so not as good a deal but mom is supposed to keep her feet and lower legs warm.  And these should do the trick.  Also helped Suz find 2 things she had looked all over town for on line.  So was a good shopping day.  She had been out in the craziness.
I do not think I have ever seen the the Scrooge version with Patrick Stewart in it.  I do love the musical version with Albert Finney.  I pretty much like them all.  Have not see the Mr. Magoo version in a very long time.  We used to watch it on TV every year when we were kids, that and Rudolf.
My CDO group does not have weekly challenges for the rest of the year.  They will have some random ones for us with lots of time so you can fit them in when you can.  So will get to some freestyle creating....which I love doing.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/28/2015 10:58 AM)

Hello.   It stayed cold and snowy yesterday and we didn't stick our noses out of the door even to pick up the mail.  They shoveled the walks and driveways, but after the snow was removed there was ice on the pavement.

Today is tree decorating day ~ I think.  It may take us two days, maybe more.  Have I mentioned that we are s-l-o-w?   lol

We watched part of the IA - NE game and Iowa won. They are 12-0 and very well could be going to the Rose Bowl.  That would be nice ~ Iowa is Mike's Alma Mater.   Go Hawks!

Then we re-watched the Hallmark Channel "Murder She Baked" movie from several months ago before watching the new one.   Enjoyed them both!  I like the Joanne Fluke 'Cookie Shop' books, definitely cozies, and these movies do a pretty good job of giving you the same kind of feeling.  Took me a while to adjust to the differences, but still very pleasant to watch.

I fussed with the dressing a bit last night and made it better ~ far from great, though.   While the turkey breast did come stuffed, I made my stuffing too on Thanksgiving.  Normally we would have liked mine better ~ lol.  We decided against a green veggie since we already had so much.  We'll have our on-line friend Adrienne's Green Pea Casserole for Christmas.

It's  16 degrees heading for a "high" of 28.  I do believe that is well below Freezing!   Brrrrr.

View from my recliner in front of the fireplace.  (lol)..

Last night they lit the lights on the City-County building in downtown Denver.  Quite impressive. This year they added a light show and actual CHRISTMAS music.  They will have the show two times a night and the rest of the time the buildings will just be lit as they usually are.   In previous years they even had a flap about having the words "Merry Christmas" up on the building, but I saw them right out there in public last night, along with the Christmas music.  Can the PC Crowd's WWIII be far behind?   I hope not.  I enjoyed watching it from my recliner in front of our fire, too.

I know you don't mind my sharing your beautiful borders, but I thought periodically I ought to tell you.   I actually have a couple of threads in the other group for "Lou Ann's Halloween borders" or her Christmas/Winter borders.  You are famous ~ and appreciated in our tiny group.

I have to admit, Thanksgiving has never been my favorite holiday.  Memories are of a lot of work, over eating, people near passed out on every seating area a after dinner and no place for me to sit after I finished the dishes.  And the ball games going, often on multiple devices.   After my mom died, and the rest of the family was in other towns, they used to feel sorry for me being alone on Thanksgiving.  I didn't feel sorry for myself a'tall.   Still, I did feel bad for you missing out on the family gathering.   I'm glad it didn't bother you ~~ and they sent home the best part for you: Leftovers!  ;-)

Oh, what a miserable day, doing all the work to get ready to have the carpets cleaned and then waiting . . and waiting . . and waiting!  Nothing frustrates me more!   Lesson learned ~ never pay in advance.   I hope they do come today and get it done!

Sounds like you got some great shopping bargains, so the day definitely wasn't wasted!

The Patrick Stewart Scrooge is one of the best ~~ and we are connoisseurs of Scrooges.  lol   We "HAD" to watch that one last night.  ;-)

Have a lovely day, Little Sis ~~~ and get that carpet cleaned!   (Well THAT makes no sense.  How can you have a lovely day while you are getting your carpet cleaned?   Get the carpet cleaned today, and have a lovely tomorrow.  )

I just lost my post and do not know how.  All of a sudden I was seeing Google

Translate which is one of the buttons on my bookmarks bar.  But I never clicked

anywhere near it.  I just do not have it in me to do it again.  I am exhausted from

the carpet cleaning which I will tell you about tomorrow, again, even though you did

not see them.  I have been making Christmas borders so if you want to share they

are in my Borders with the name New Christmas.  Help yourself to old too!

Love you sister mine.

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/29/2015 9:33 AM)

Good Morning.

We have the tree almost decorated!  We ran out of steam and thought it was better to put the last finishing touches on today.   I will put up the few other decorations (stuffed animals) in the Great Room, and we'll be done.  We've never been done this early before.   Of course I haven't even thought about cards or even the possibility of baking or anything.

We watched the Albert Finney musical Scrooge last night.  It just makes you feel good, and we find ourselves humming the songs for days after.

I'm so sorry you lost your post, but I do understand why you weren't anxious to jump back and do it all over again.  Soooo frustrating.

Oh, I do want to hear the Carpet Cleaning story.  At least they DID it, so Yay for that!    You may understand why we get so tired when Shauna cleans house for us, even though we don't have to prepare like you did for the Carpet Cleaning ~~ or put everything back afterwards.   I hope they did a good job for you!

Thanks for the reminder and heads up!   I never think to look in our stored borders.  What a dummy.  I did and found some lovely new goodies, that I am likely to "steal".

I did learn that Barb's Tagbot problem seems to be that her Desktop is broken and she hasn't been able to get to a tech to see about fixing it, so she's been using her Laptop exclusively.   She always made the borders on her Desktop and apparently Tagbot just doesn't work on her Laptop.  I don't know if she has different Operating Systems on them or what, but for now she is unable to make new borders.

Hope today is a better day and maybe you can even get a tiny bit of rest.

Love 'n Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/29/2015 11:41 PM)

Here we go again.  Hopefully we make it this time.
The carpet.  Well. they said between 10 and 12.  They came over about 1.  But I am not complaining and neither is mom. They did a superior job on the carpet and the room. Before they did the carpet they pretreated spots.  The they washed the walls and dusted all the shelves.  Then they did the carpet.  The carpet has not been cleaned in ages...maybe years.  They went over it at least 5x and more over high traffic areas.  The carpet looks blue again instead of grey.  Mom is so pleased.  In fact she bought us all supper from Pizza Hut....Tuscan Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, breadsticks and triple chocolate brownies with toasted marshmallows on top with Hershey syrup drizzled over them.  Comes warm and was delicious.  But, we did not get the breadsticks, so I called.  They gave us a choice of bringing breadsticks (we would have been done eating by the time we got them or they would credit us for the meal.   We chose the credit.  We're no dummies.
Now today, with the boys was an all different ball game.  Josh came early as he had to run an errand and then would be back.  The other boys were coming at 2.  He brought up the tree and set it up and plugged it in....all white lights.  Mom said it is the wrong tree (our old one).  I said, if we find the red and white ornaments, then this tree would be better...no she wanted the colored lights.  So she asked Chris if she would like the tree.  I said do you have room for it and she said I will make room for it.  So Josh hauled it out into the entry and went down, found the other tree and brought it up and set it up.  Then he took off.  Jason then showed up then Brent.  Again I explained the plan.  Mom went into the basement with them and they brought up a box and I said that is not it...it was the window/radiator decorations.  Next thing I know they are all back up.  They could not even find the regular ornaments.  Mom said she did see her snowman garland...it is mercury glass covered in diamond dust.  I said I think that was on top of the ornaments.  Mom said the ornaments are in a clear container and I said no they are not, I packed them, they are in a blue bin.  So she told Jason to go get that bin and there were the ornaments and tree skirt.  Mom told me Brent got tired of opening one box after another and quit and there was not any room to bring the boxes out.  So they came up.  They put some ornaments on the tree and Josh came back and they all started watching TV and making fun of the Turtle Man.  They did this about and hour and it was fun.  Then I said you need to turn the lights off to see if the tree would look good then, OMG it was horrible.  I told them never mind. I will do it tomorrow.  Then Brent left.  Josh took the tree box back to the basement and left.  I spent the day cleaning out my drawers for my "end tables" so ha  Id to be sitting upright most of the day.  I was already hurting from yesterday and now I was in agony. So finally at 7pm I said no more for today, I have had it.  Told mom I would work on the tree Tues as I need to do the page work tomorrow.  Enough about me, now you!

Wow, good for you on the decorating.  Wish I could say the same.  Mom and I are finding out how little we can actually do.  Chris found my Scrooge the Musical and mom said take it home to watch it.  Who knows when she will give it back.  It is a VHS so we can only watch it in here.  If she does not return it by mid December I will ask for it.  I just love it.

Do you know what operating system Barb has?  I do all my creating on my laptop?  Used Tagbot with Vista and 7 with no issues.  We have XP on the computer in the back but have never tried making borders back there, well I do not think so anyway.  Maybe we can help her get it figured out.  Please ask her.  Have you ever wondered what the text in the center of the Tagbot frames is?  I did a translate and only half of it did and it is really very bizarre.  It is Latin but a lot of it does not translate for some reason.  You should try it some time.  Very strange.

You sure have a lot of snow.  We had snow once that was a couple inches but it is all gone now.  Though it has been pretty cold.  It is 30 right now, not so bad.  Last night this time it was 21.  Supposed to be high 30's low 40's this week and I see rain listed for tomorrow night.  Tuesday is INR time again.  Time flies when you are having fun.  We did not get our pics yet for cards as I forgot.  Need to do it tomorrow.  So I can get them ordered.  Going to go with Walmart.  They are lower priced than everywhere I looked.  Well, I am off to deal with my email.  Wish me luck.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/30/2015 7:37 AM)

Good Morning

Yesterday I learned my cousin Betty died on the 20th and was buried on the 25th.  I have told you about her, I believe.  She was 90, and she had a series of strokes that left her nearly blind.  The ER Doctor sent her home saying it wasn't a stroke, it was 'just' her diabetes.  Long story, but it was indeed a series of strokes and if he had cared for her properly, she wouldn't have lost her vision.  That has nothing to do with her death, but made her last months far less than they should have been.

I have thought of her so often recently and intended to call her, but didn't.  It's been months since we talked, and I couldn't feel worse about it.  What was so much more important than calling and visiting with her?   Apparently she misplaced my number but wanted to call me too.  If only I had called her when it was on my mind.  Yesterday I called and it went to voice mail, and then her son John called me back to let me know she was gone.     Her son is a wonderful man who lost his fiancee to cancer two years ago around Thanksgiving, and now has had to bury his mother around the same time.   He was so loyal and caring to both of them.    Betty was a remarkable woman, who went parasailing on her 78th birthday and the only thing left undone on her Bucket List was parachuting out of a plane.   ("What?  You want to jump out of a perfectly good plane?!"  I asked her.   Yup, and I think she'd have done it)

So many stories ~ but I won't go on and on.  Sometimes I just don't like myself, and other times I really hate me for being such a self involved witch.   Thanks for letting me spew.

We finished decorating the tree and I still want to do a bit in the Great Room and then we are done.  Remarkable!   It's still below freezing and it snowed a bit more overnight.

Laine isn't going to come for a little visit after all.  Too much going on with her plans (hopes?) to move to Chicago and her need to give her landlord notice soon.  I think she's overwhelmed.  I have mixed feelings ~ disappointed but also a bit relieved because of Mike's dental issues.  Rotten timing!  We're going to be all ready for Christmas with no one (but us) to see. ha.   We were going to invite some of the neighbors over, but again because of Mike's situation, prob'ly not.  Guess we'll just have to enjoy it ourselves.

I'm up too early again, but this time there is an actual advantage.  Lisa, our former neighbor and current Norwex Lady is having a Cyber Monday sale, with the best discount between 5 and 6 AM.  I'd rather NOT be able to take advantage of it, but since I am awake I ordered some of the foaming peppermint soap Mike likes so much and a new dish cloth (I love those things), and got 25% off!

I was getting really mad at them for making you wait a day and a half for them to do the carpet, but when you described how well they did it and even cleaning the walls and dusting the shelves (!), all is forgiven!  What a wonderful feeling to have everything nice and clean!   Your meal sounded wonderful, too ~~ and especially when it was FREE!  Purrrrfect!   Who needs breadsticks ~ Ha!  You were so smart to call and complain.

The Boys, on the other hand . . . grrrr.   Kids!  I hate that we can't do things ourselves.  Having to rely on others is a serious pain in the tush ~~~ literally!  Sooo, I'm confused.  Did you ever find the red and white ornaments?    I agree that they would look better with the all white lights, but I'm sure they will still be beautiful.   Ooorrr, did you end up with ornaments that were not red and white?
You're going to have to start paying those stinkers only after they have provided Satisfactory Service.  No satisfied customer, no payment.   Unless they are doing it without being paid, of course.    I'd probably tick them off so badly they wouldn't do it at all.  LOL

Your mom's snowman garland sounds lovely.  I hope you both take things slowly and don't get yourselves into a lot of pain.

Shogun has been so much better since Chrystie died and we've had all the workers tramping through the house.  I thought that MAYBE . . . . but last night he knocked two dishes off of the island divider and smashed them to smithereens.  Of course that was Mike's fault ~ what could he have been thinking leaving them there?  Anyway, peace may have ended it's reign at our house.  Sigh.

I asked Barb about what Operating system she has on both the desktop and the laptop, thinking that might be the issue.  She said she always used Outlook on any computer.  They went to Bell (in Canada) for their phone, TV and Internet and this is the first time she can't use Tagbot, but only on her laptop.  She was fine using it on her Desktop before her Desktop died.  I'm using Chrome on "7".  Frustrating for her.   I fear her old Desktop is not going to be repairable, but I hope I'm wrong.   No, I never tried to read the text in the Tagbot box.  How interesting!

Oh, we do love that musical Scrooge too ~ as you know.

We're with you in the deep freeze.  It may get "up" to 30 today, and it snowed again over night, not much but enough to cover the pavement.  It definitely looks a "bit like Christmas" out there.  In here, too.

Have a GOOD day, and don't overdo and make yourself sick!

Hugs,
