RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/17/2015 7:52 AM)

I Love Snow ~ if I don't have to shovel it!!  Overnight blizzard and 5 to 20 inches predicted by the time it ends! It only looks like maybe 4 inches here, but I haven't heard any official totals.  Snow is supposed to continue during the day.  It's 30 degrees now, heading for a "high" of 36.  Can you say FREEZING?

Mike got home last night before the snow started. It was raining, but not freezing yet, thank goodness.   The crown on that broken tooth did come out when they made the impressions.  Fortunately no pain so hopefully it won't give him any problems, at least he doesn't think it will.  Next appointment is on December 1st.

I finished loading the Curio Cabinet, but with far fewer things than had been there before.  It looks nicer, I think.  You wouldn't think it would be so hard, but the bending and reaching and moving the boxes caused a lot of pain, and pain is exhausting.

Other good news!   The Couch re-upholsterer called!  He had been out of town for two weeks and was just going through his messages.   I'm guessing that his voice mail box was full and that's why we got the "Service discontinued" message.  It should have been "mailbox full".  Anyway, there are no problems and all is well!  What a relief!

Another bit of fun ~~ we found a DIY onlne that told us to put ice cubes in the dents or depressions (or whatever you'd call them) in the carpet.  We did, and it worked!  Who would ever have thought?!  You just place one or two cubes in the impression left by furniture and let them melt.  When they do, the nap is restored!  Amazing!

I've been awake since 3:15 this morning and finally got up around 5 and came up to the Morning Room. I wanted to let Mike sleep so I brought my PC up here.  10 minutes later he called me on the Intercom ~ he'd been awake too.  Bummer.  Now he is in the Man Cave and I am here.    Almost everything we HAVE to do before our company comes has been done.  Of course there are still things I'd like to do, but if they don't get done it won't matter, so maybe we'll just laze around and catch up on our missing zzzzzzzs.

I will take some pictures of our two Santas.  I do love them.  Mike also got me a Shaman Santa one year, and that lives in the curio cabinet in the hallway with our other Indian collections.

I hate that we can't have all of our collections out ~ or at least easily accessible so we can change them out from time to time.  (Not that I probably would ~ ha)  I do miss seeing them, and I know you understand because you have so many lovely things you can't have out, too.

I honestly can't imagine why the old carpet was causing all the dust, but I really believe it was!  Did they put it down on a pile of dirt?  We did not upgrade when we built and very obviously we should have.  The woman at the Design Center told us that this was so much better carpet than other builders were using, and we believed her.  We'd already spent so much money and were so exhausted from getting everything in the old house packed for moving and selecting everything for the new house that we just wanted to be done!   We picked one that looked nice and didn't upgrade ~ and we've been paying ever since!  I honestly never dreamed that he carpet was causing all that dust ~ you could just see it in the air sometimes, and then of course on all of those dark surfaces.  Now I really HOPE that the carpet was causing the problem because that would mean that things really will be better!

I'm so glad you like the way it looks.  We really do, too.  I wasn't at all excited about the carpet for all of the rooms except the Library at first.  It was nice, but definitely not exciting.  Now I like it better every day.  It's just plain, but it's warm and it's not that horrid old carpet!  Lol.  I think the Library carpet is going to be fine, too.  That really IS different, and so kind of fun.

I see that some 25 Governors are refusing to accept the new Syrian "refugees", or at least trying to.  Not our Governor.  Oh, no.  He says "Come on in.  You're more than welcome".  Peachy.   I agree with you.  Terrorists who want to kill and subjugate us are already here and recruiting more.  It's just a matter of time.  How can it be otherwise with our open borders?

With these refugees, we not only plan to give them housing, health care, schooling but $16,000.00 apeace to help them 'get started'.  We let our Veterans die waiting for treatment, and people who have applied for citizenship wait in their own countries forever to have a chance to come here ~ and they need to prove they can support themselves and have a place to be ~ but if you slip over the border or are an able bodied MAN from Syria, have we got the goodies for You!  Makes me crazed.  Hushing, now.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Internet friend!  I've lost a few that I felt I knew and cared about.  It's always such a shock.  64 is much too young!

I see lots of closings and delays posted on TV, but still no snow totals.  We don't have to go out, and the heat is on, so we won't worry about it.

Have a happy day!

(Date Posted:11/18/2015 12:08 AM)

IT TOOK US 2 HOURS TO BALANCE THE CHECK BOOK.  FOR SOME ODD REASON, BALANCING IT THE TRADITIONAL WAY JUST WOULD NOT WORK.  PART OF THE PROBLEM IS MY MOM DOES NOT PUT DATES IN.  IT REALLY MAKES IT SO MUCH HARDER WITH THE REPETITIVE DEBITS AND CHECKING OFF THE WRONG MONTH.  FINALLY, I WENT TO HER ACCOUNT ON LINE.
CHECKED TO SEE WHICH OUTSTANDING CHECKS WERE ACTUALLY IN.  ADDED THOSE THAT WERE NOT AND SUBTRACTED THAT TOTAL FROM THE BANKS BALANCE, IT MATCHED THE CHECK BOOK PERFECTLY. SHE CLAIMS SHE WILL JUST LEAVE IT TO ME FROM NOW ON.  BUT I KNOW THAT NEXT MONTH, WHEN HER STATEMENT COMES, SHE WILL TRY TO BALANCE IT.  SIGH...

NO SNOW HERE...RAIN! DULL DREARY DAY.  THERE HAVE BEEN FLURRIES A COUPLE OF TIME, BUT NOTHING THAT SHOWED UP ON THE GROUND.

WE ARE BACK TO A FAMILY GATHERING FOR THANKSGIVING AND JOANNE'S HOUSE AND WILL CELEBRATE BRENT'S BIRTHDAY THEN.  HER MIL IS NOT HOSTING THANKSGIVING I GUESS. I WAS KINDA LOOKING FORWARD TO JUST THE 3 OF US AND CATCHING UP WITH DIANE.  BUT FAMILY IS FINE TOO.

WHY IS A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP SO ELUSIVE?  MAYBE IT IS BECAUSE WE WORRY SO MUCH?  I REALLY THINK IT DOES AFFECT OUR SLEEP.

YAY, THINGS ARE ALL WORKING OUT. THE CARPET IMPRESSIONS ARE GONE AND THE UPHOLSTERER IS BACK.  YIPPEE KI YAY!!

AS FAR AS WHAT THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO GIVE REFUGEES, IT IS JUST WRONG.  TOO MANY AMERICANS LIVE IN POVERTY.  THEY DID THE SAME THING WHEN ALL THE HMONG CAME TO OUR COUNTRY.  WE HAVE QUITE A FEW IN FOND DU LAC.  THEY DID THAT SORT OF THING FOR THEM.  THEY ALL OWN HOMES AND DRIVE LUXURY CARS.  WE WERE NEVER ABLE TO AFFORD THAT.

THEY JUST NEED TO ANNIHILATE ISIS AND PERHAPS THINGS WOULD SETTLE DOWN IN THE WORLD.  I KNOW THEY ARE NOT THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.  BUT IT FEELS THAT WAY.  I KNOW OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE FACTIONS THAT ARE JUST AS EVIL. BUT ISIS HAS THE GAUL TO ATTACK WORLD POWER COUNTRIES...NOT JUST THEIR OWN PEOPLE.  IF ALL AFFECTED COUNTRIES BANDED TOGETHER AGAINST ISIS THEY WOULD NO LONGER BE ON THIS EARTH.  I SAW OBAMA REFUSES TO SEND LAND TROOPS BUT WILL CONTINUE AIR STRIKES.  I DO NOT KNOW IF I AGREE WITH THAT.  SEEMS WE NEED TO DO MORE.

I MAY NOT MAKE IT ON TOMORROW.  THE LADIES ARE COMING FOR OUR NOVEMBER VISIT.
HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/18/2015 2:25 PM)

Good Morning.

Lazy day yesterday.  Because I was awake from 3:15, by the time I had posted and got my first cup of coffee, all my steam left me, and I dozed off and on all day.  I did catch the infamous Budget Book up, but that was the sum total of my accomplishments.

By afternoon, all the snow had melted on the sidewalks and pavements ~~~ except in front of the North facing houses, like our old house was.  How nice not to have to deal with that anymore.

There are a few other things I had planned, or at least hoped to do before company comes, and taking yesterday off I know they won't get done.   So be it.  ;-)

This started off as a lovely day.  I got a whole night's sleep for the first time in a week!   Then I just laid in bed and watched the news for an hour before getting my shower.

The winds here are frightful!  News showed a Park and Ride here in Arvada (though not close to our house) where the news crew was trying to help people getting from their parked cars to the shelter.  One woman dropped her kids off to wait for the bus to school and the door on the passenger side swung open so far it broke the hinge.  She was standing against it trying to keep it closed in that horrible wind.  They said she had her chihuahua with her.  Can you imagine if the door flew open and the little dog bounded out to be with his family?  Bye bye Chi!

The sustained winds here in Arvada were between 56 and 80 mph, and the gusts were up to 100 mph!

So, I'm up and showered and dressed and the doorbell rings.  I answer, and it's the guys from Mountain High, here to put our outside Christmas decorations up!   Seriously???   Yup.  The wind had died down when I was talking to the lead, but within a short time it was back up.  I don't know how high, but definitely High!   They put the decorations up, though, all except the Spruce tree because once again they didn't have the things we had ordered.  Since we won't turn the lights on until Thanksgiving, I don't think it's a problem.  We are having white lights on the roof line and the five wreaths, but multi colored NOT LED lights on the tree.  I hate those purpleish LED lights.   It took them about two hours ~ in that awful cold wind ~ and they will have to come back to do the tree.   It's a tiny bit embarrassing to have the wreaths up so early even though we won't turn them on, but he said they had been putting decorations up for over a month!

I put Christmas things in the Curio on all but two shelves. One has the cat's ashes and stuff ~~ I might one day put little framed pictures of the cats down there instead of the cat statues and such that make it look too crowded.  Not today!

On the remaining shelf I have Thanksgiving!  Then after Thanksgiving, I will change it to Christmas and maybe change that shelf out with Valentines and Easter and whatever things.  If I don't, the Christmas things will be "in theme" so it will be ok.

I got a kick out of big bold Shogun this morning.  He ran into the Morning Room where I was and jumped on the back of the couch (not under the window) to check out the guys putting up the wreaths.  Then he apparently got scared, because he left ~ fast.  I called him back and told him to go back on the couch so the guys could see how beautiful he was, but he stood behind Mike's chair (across the room from the couch) and peeked out from behind.  LOL  Old Big and Bold is also a Fraidy Cat!

I'm so glad you got your mom's check book fixed ~ and I hope she really does let you do it next time, but I kinda doubt she will.  lol

Ah, back to the full family Thanksgiving gathering.  Well, that will be fun, too.

Weren't The Ladies just there?  You are becoming Party Central!       Have fun!!

Love ya.

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/19/2015 8:48 AM)

Good Morning My Lovely

This will have to be quick because I have a haircut this morning, and then we need to pick up some groceries and go out to breakfast, not necessarily in that order.

It's well below freezing this morning, but supposed to warm to a "toasty" 46 degrees.   Brrrrr.   I got the trash and recycle cans to the curb last night since the wind had died down.   I should have known my 'whole night's sleep' was too good to last.  I was awake from 4 AM again this morning. Humbug!

Tomorrow Shauna comes, so I may not be on line then either.   I'll try to get back when I can, though.

Two days ago a Colorado State Trouper was out of her car talking to the driver of a car she had stopped when she was struck by another car and killed.  She was 33 and has a husband and an 8 month old baby.  The Colorado State Patrol and other law officers lined the path from the hospital to the funeral home.  So moving and sad.   The guy who hit her is a retired Army Colonel, who was drunk.  He initially kept going.  Now he's in jail with a 1 million dollar bond, which has now been reduced to "only" $500K.  How many lives have been effected.   The young trooper gone, her husband left with a baby and a baby who will never know his mother, not to mention the rest of the young woman's family and friends left to mourn her.  The Colonel's life is essentially over, too, and his wife and family have to go on without him, I'm guessing . . .  One stupid act, and how many lives are effected forever.  So sad.

We talked a bit about our importing "refugees" and paying them to come with what I think is very inadequate 'vetting'.   I'm going to share something Barb posted in the other group the other day for comparison.   You know she is an American who has been married to a Canadian and living in Canada for these many, many years.  This is her experience, migrating to Canada.

I had to get finger prints from every where I lived, had to get police records from all those places, wait for police reports ( happy saying I had all Clean Records), passport, prove I had enough money to care for my self my first year in Canada, Tom had to prove he had enough money to care for me the first 5 years I was here, Why did I need to do that when people cross our borders with nothing and get everything FREE!, I know 2 people here that want to move to the states and have been waiting over 5 years for paper work, both woman who's husbands have been transferred by their jobs to the USA, and the wives can't be with them, Ah But other people come over to the USA and get everything offered them on a silver platter.and these woman are Not from terrorist countries.

The other issue I have with these "refugees" ~ and btw, despite Obama's sarcasm, I'm not seeing images of too many "widows or orphans" ~~ is that these people show very little indication that they want or plan to assimilate.  Indeed we are a nation of immigrants, but all of our ancestors ASSIMILATED and became Americans, while still cherishing the customs of the countries they migrated from, and that enriched us all.  These Syrian refugees seem to have no desire to become Americans, but indeed to change America to fit them!  Have you seen some of the complaints they have lodged in other countries, or the demands they have made for the Host country to change the way things are and have always been to accommodate their customs?   Why then not stay in the country you left or at least another Muslim country?  Why?  Because the Muslim countries won't take them.   Saudi Arabia has more money and space and everything else than anyone else, and they are saying No.   Just saying . . .

And on that sour note (lol), I will say that I hope you had a great time with The Ladies!  I'd best get my rear in gear!

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/19/2015 4:04 PM)

Brrrrrrr....you keep that cold and those winds in Colorado.
Wisconsin has been unseasonably warm. We have wind, gusting to 40mp, much better that you.
Last night was a nice visit with the ladies. We try to get together once a month.  It was late in October so the visits
were closer than usual.  Hopefully we will manage to do one before Christmas.  Due to weather and illness, we have missed December repeatedly.  We end up doing our Christmas in January.  Last night we had Hardee's for supper.  I have not had food from there since the boys were young. They have angus beef thick burgers, 1/3 and 1/2 lb.  They also have Jr's that are just 1/4 lb but mom and I wanted the Mushroom Swiss and it did not come in the smaller ones.  So we ordered a 1/2 lb one and cut it in half.  We also split curly fries and onion rings.  The burger was good but not great.  The curly fries were ok.  The onion rings were great, especially dipped in honey mustard.  I was stuffed, I could not have eaten the whole burger.  Mom made dessert..a strawberry torte and it was delicious.  There is still another piece for both of us. Mom gave some to Chris and Scott and Suz had a piece.  It was a kind of slow evening.  Gloria had brought along papers for a living will that she wanted us to witness her signature and sign. So talk turned to funerals and obituaries.  Also the refugees and ISIS.  Because of our fears, we do not want them in WI either. For once I agree with Walker.  It was an interesting evening.
I do not think it is an issue having your Christmas wreaths up already.  Since you are not lighting them, why not?  We would start lighting them on Thanksgiving night or weekend.  I want pics of all the shelves in your curio.  I want to see everything.
We usually replace everything in ours with moms collections of blue and white snowmen.  I would love to put my Possible Dreams Santa's in there.  Someday because I have already claimed the curio as ming.  I actually get any of the furniture I need, but the curio is not a need item, lol.  But I need it, so there.  The TV and stand and 2 recliners are mine. Also dressers in my room...but I will toss them and take my moms.  Mine are the ones Diane gave me, that had once been my moms and they are crap.  I will probably take the kitchen table as it is smaller so someone can have the dining room table.  The stove and fridge are moms but the fridge is about 15 years old.  Why am I talking about this, lol.
OMG, big bad Shogun is not so bad after all.  I wonder what scared him about the wreath hangers.  Too funny.  First children and then outdoor decorators, what next?
Fingers crossed that you get a good haircut.
I read an article in our paper about a refugee couple and their children that settled in Florida saying how well vetted they were.  I believe she said they went through 5 different interviews that were at least 2 hours long.  Sometimes all together and often apart. Also a great deal of research was done as the investigators of interviewers had an immense amount of knowledge about them. She felt they were extremely well vetted.  Yes, I did see that interview where that young woman bitched about not having a TV, getting too little money, food sucked and they were going to stay outside because the room was like being in prison.  Does she think anyone is going to feel sorry for her?  I am sure everyone thought the same thing as I...What an ungrateful bitch!!! The whole refugee thing is a clusterf*ck.  Excuse the language.
I honestly believe that if you come as a refugee and intend to stay you need to become a citizen and learn the language.  And that language is not Spanish, it is English!
Please do not worry about trying to get in here.  Just do what you need to do.  I will be here when you get back, lol.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/20/2015 8:57 AM)

Good Morning.

Another cold one, with some snow today.  It should warm up and be fairly nice for the weekend when our company is here.

The Christmas Decoration Guy was back at 8AM to put the multi colored lights on the Spruce tree, so that is done.  Then on to see Cheryl and I think I got a good haircut this time.  She has diabetes and the last time I was there she showed me a very large sore on her foot.  It really concerned me, and a couple of weeks later she posted a picture of a special Boot on that foot ~ the sore had turned into an ulcer and they removed it (the ulcer, not the foot). Two weeks after that she fell down a couple of stairs and broke a bone in her leg, so now she is wearing a heavy cloth cast over the boot!   I was concerned that she wouldn't be working now, but she wouldn't let a little thing like that slow her down.  Ha.  I'm going to go on record saying that Diabetes is a nasty, horrid disease!

After my haircut, we went to breakfast at The Egg and I (my favorite Wisconsin Scramble for Mike and their new Pecan Waffle for me) and then on to the Grocery store.  I stayed in the car and Mike went shopping.  He was pooped when he was done, but he got everything.  Then home.  Ahhhh.

Shauna will be here shortly.  The house still looks pretty good!  Marianne and Bill are coming late tomorrow afternoon and will stay through Tuesday morning.  Then they are driving to KS to visit with Mike and Marianne's uncle and then back to spend Thanksgiving with Laine in Omaha before going on to the Chicago area to spend some time with Bill's family.  I will try to get in when I can while they are here, but I know you will understand if I can't.

I'm glad you had a nice evening with the ladies, and sorry your food wasn't quite up to snuff.  The strawberry tort sounded wonderful!

OhMyGosh!  I am marking this date, 11/19/15, on my Calendar!  Lou Ann agreed with Walker on something!   Bwahaaa ~ LOL!   The only thing that would be harder to believe would be me agreeing with Obama on anything.  LOL LOL.

I will take some pictures of the Curio later.  I had two BIG curios in the old house and they were crammed full.  The two I have now are small ~ too small really.  Like you, I have so many lovely collectibles that I can't display, and it makes me sad.   On the other hand, am I up to all the work of arranging them all and trying to keep them clean?   I am not.  LOL

I think I did get a good haircut.  Of course I came home and brushed it out right away.  Ha. Sharyl gets it looking nice, and then she Plays with it and then sprays it.  I try to stop her from 'Phase Two', but she's fast.  Ha.

Like you, I'm just amazed at the arrogance and lack of appreciation some of these new 'refugees' and border-crossers show.  Like we OWE them something.  Well, I for one DON'T!   So there!  I remember stories of those who have played by the rules and were so grateful to be here and be part of us.  I think of the First Generation Mexican-American kids I grew with in New Mexico, for whose parents I had such respect. They were born in Mexico but they came and studied and learned English, and their kids were the best and the brightest.  They were awesome, and they were American!   Hard to believe that they would have any kinder thoughts for the Line Jumpers than I do, or for the new Demanding "refugees".

And with that, I'd better get my rear in gear or Shauna will catch me in my PJs.

Have a lovely day, and I'll check in when I can!

GREAT!  A GOOD HAIRCUT. ONCE LESS THING TO WORRY ABOUT!  AND SHAUNA COMING TO CLEAN THE HOUSE.  TO TOP IT OFF THE SPRUCE HAS IT'S LIGHTS.  WHAT COULD BE BETTER?  YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME.

I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY DAY WRITING NAMES ON STOCKINGS.  MOM HAS STARTED EMBROIDERING THEM. WHAT WAS A FEW STOCKINGS IS NOT 14 AND DIANE SAYS THERE ARE 2 MORE.  MOM NEVER KNEW THERE WERE THAT MANY KIDS IN THE PROGRAM...AND SUCH NAMES.  THE 2 THAT REALLY STAND OUT TO ME ARE ESTRELLA AND CITLALI.  SOME OF THE BOYS NAMES SOUND AS IF THEY WERE PULLED FROM ROMANCE BOOKS...CRUZ, SLOAN AND DRAKE. LOL

YES, DIABETES CAN BE QUITE WICKED.  MY GRANDMA WEIDER LOST HER LEG BECAUSE OF DIABETES AND ALMOST LOST HER 2ND ONE. I REALLY NEED TO TAKE BETTER CARE.  I HOPE TO HAVE MANY YEARS AHEAD WHICH MEANS I SHALL BE DEALING WITH DIABETES FOR A LONG TIME.

WELL, I REALLY DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY.  HAVE FUN.

You did not do a very good job of keeping that snow by you.

We were lucky and only got a couple inches.

I hope and pray that all is going well and as planned, so that all

goes perfectly for you.  I am sure it will, you have done so well

preparing and not gone off the deep end.

Mom and I spent yesterday and today working on the stockings.  I

first wrote the names on paper and then cut the it out and

centered it on the the stocking and using a sharp pencil, I poked

holes all along the letters, then pulled the paper off and connected

the dots.  It took forever but worked great. As I finished each

one mom would embroider the name.  We have 14 done and have 4

more left for any new names.

Tomorrow I want to work on getting pics for our cards.  And I

need to make a tag from a tutorial for the 2nd challenge.  This tag

was the 1st and it was do anything you wanted to.  I hope you like

it.  Who can resist this snowman's face?

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/24/2015 10:40 AM)

Good Morning!  I'm Baa-ack!
I was going to put up a border of fire, cuz I am the human definition of Burned Out!   That's what happens to Hermits when they spend several days around people.  LOL

Our company left at 7 this morning for an 8 hour (plus stops) drive to Kansas to visit Mike and Marianne's uncle.  They will have dinner with him tonight and stay overnight and have lunch with him tomorrow before driving back to Omaha to spend Thanksgiving with out niece, Laine.  Then on to Davenport to spend time with a friend and then on the Chicago area to be with Bill's family before flying on home to California.   Oh, so much better Them than Me!  lol

We did have a nice visit and didn't kill each other (they are so very Left Wing and as you may have figured out, we are not.  Ha!)  As long as we can avoid talking about our world, we can continue to love each other.  ;-)

We had Chili and corned bread when they came in on Saturday night.  Shauna had the house looking good and we turned the outside Christmas lights on to greet them.  A neighbor emailed to say how nice the lights looked and I explained why we had them on early but we weren't going to really turn them on until Thanksgiving.  I needen't hve been embarrassed for having them up early ~ 5 other neighbors got theirs up in the last day or so, and they are leaving the lights on already!

ANYway, we ate and visited and enjoyed each other, and then on Saturday morning I had a breakfast casserole and some fresh fruit for breakfast, and we had sandwiches for lunch and then went out to the Indian Restaurant for dinner.  We brought home lots of leftovers!.  Monday morning we just had ham and cheese croissants from Williams Sonoma and some fruit for a light breakfast and then went to the Briarwood for lunch.  I was so happy that they were decorated for Christmas.  They do such a nice job, but I wasn't sure WHEN they did it.   We shared their wonderful appetizer tray (which is a meal in itself) and then Mike had Prime Rib which looked fabulous, and which he couldn't eat because of his teeth!   We brought it home and will freeze it until he had them fixed.  I really felt bad about that, but it is what it is.    Marianne and Bill shared the Prime Rib dinner and I had wonderful apricot chicken on cheesy spinach and scalloped potatoes.  Then we shared a dessert tray which had all sorts of small desserts.  Once again we brought home leftovers, which no one was hungry for, so we have way too much food left.  It's a problem we can live with.  ;-)

Marianne and Bill went downstairs and took a nap when we got home and Mike and I lounged and waited for the mail delivery but we stayed awake.

I woke up at 3:15 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, but I stayed in bed instead of getting up and dressed.  Bad choice.  They were bringing things upstairs by 6:30 and left at 7!  I barely got to give them a good bye hug!

What do you want to bet I fall asleep in my chair this afternoon?

Did you get the stockings done?  That sounds like a MAJOR project to me, but once again I'm impressed with how much you and your family do for others.

How about the cards?   I haven't even thought of our cards yet.  Maybe folks have heard enough from us and this should be the year we just 'don't'.   Ya think?    We've and a good and bad year ~ just like everyone else.  Nothing remarkable or fascinating to report.  I could just write our names on cards so folks will know we're still alive maybe ~ lol.  I do often worry when someone drops us from their list or stops sending cards.   I will worry about that tomorrow or next week.  My plate is full for this weekend.

I love the darling snowman tag!   Thank you!

I hope you didn't lose anything you can't afford to lose, but you really got rid of a LOT.   I hope your 'puter is running smoothly now!

I hadn't seen that we are getting a free diamond month (in the other group).  We SHOULD!  It's been a real pain!

So good to be "home" with my dear little sister.  Ahhhhhh.  ;-)

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/24/2015 9:13 PM)

I am happy to hear that your visit went well.  Did the mighty

Shogun behave himself?  Has he been able to look out the

window since the big bad house decorators were there?

What a grueling pace Marianne and Bill have set for

themselves.  Especially when they are sleeping in beds other

than their own.  I never slept well when I was away from

home.  I am saying a prayer for safe travel for them.

Have not gotten the pic for the cards yet.  Really need to get

on that so that I can get the cards out.  Said I was going to

send then in Nov. and time is flying by.

Yes, we finished 14 stockings and even added a ribbon

holding 2 jingle bells to them.  Since then mom has also

made 2 aprons for my sister.  She found all sorts of things

as she cleaned out her sewing corner, lol.  My sister gave her

the stuff a few years ago, lol.  She was thrilled to get them.

I wrote Brent, Josh and Jason on facebook asking for them

to find a time they could all come over and go into the

basement and haul boxes out of the storage room until mom

can find her red and white Christmas ornaments.  We had a

red and white theme that we did.  Took down our curtains

and put up white snowman shears and red valances all the

windows.  The tree had all red and white ornaments of all

kinds on it and it had red and white lights.  The one we have

now is colored and we will probably leave it that way.

Depending on how long it takes them we may also get the

tree up and maybe decorated.  I told them they could bring

recruits to help too.  They have agreed that they can all

come Sunday afternoon.  I kind of quilted them into it saying

that you never know which Christmas will be Gma's last.

Then I felt guilty.  Once they committed to when I told mom

about it.  She was so happy and then she said it.  You

don't know, this might be my last Christmas.  I told her of

course it isn't and then admitted saying that to the boys.

She is so excited it is well worth it.

Well, that's all my news for tonight.  This tag was a tutorial

challenge. I missed you sister dear!

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/25/2015 10:18 AM)

Good Morning!

The temperatures here are dropping and it's going to get really cold.  We'll have SNOW for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  I'm glad we aren't planning to go "over the meadow and through the woods to Grandmother's house" this year.   Black Friday ~ not a problem.    I do feel bad for those who are traveling and hope everyone stays safe.   I mean I REALLY hope everyone stays safe!  Major Terror Alert for Thanksgiving, brought to us by our lovely friends at ISIS.

Tom, the Carpet guy, is coming over at 10 to bring us four 2x3 rugs he had bound for us from our leftover carpet, and our warranty.  I think maybe his major purpose is to sell us on his Carpet Cleaning service, but we've pretty much decided to go with him anyway.

After he leaves, the Balsam Street Hermits will be free for the Holiday weekend.  Hate to admit, I'm looking forward to it.  Ha.   We will FINALLY test the Balsam Hill Christmas tree replacement.  I've been bugging and nagging Mike forever to do this.   If it doesn't work, we'll have to use the old tree, and fight with Balsam Hill for a refund rather than a replacement.   Mike is convinced that it will be fine.   We plan to start decorating on Friday.  Who knows how long it will take us to do it, even though we're only doing the tree and a tiny bit more. Have to laugh at ourselves.

Thank you for saying a prayer for Mare and Bill and their Holiday trip.  There was a time when I could have enjoyed that pace, but now it just makes me cringe!   They made good time to Uncle Walt's yesterday.  Marianne said that he is much thinner (he is 88, and Mike's dad's younger brother), and that "he looks so much like dad now that I can hardly look at him".  He is such a nice, outgoing man.  I hope he lives long and prospers, and I know he really appreciates their visiting him.  He has other family in the area, but rarely sees "Ray's kids".

OhMyGosh, you guys are so ambitious!  I get nothing done, and you have all the stockings done plus embellished and then more!   I remember your talking about the red and white Christmas theme and it sounded lovely.  I hope the boys can uncover them for you!

Laughing at you for Guilting the boys.  Hey, whatever it takes. Ha!   My precious Grandmother used to say almost every year that this might be her last Christmas (or birthday or Thanksgiving or whatever).  She started when she was in her 60s.  She died just shy of her 100th birthday.

After I had the cardiac arrest and died for just a wee little while, I started saying that afterwards, with a dire tremor in my voice ~~~ for effect.   It got to be the family joke for a while.   LOL

We're looking for SNOW and you are thinking of smelling the daisies!   Ha!   I love my pretty tag!  Thank you!

Have you tried Tagbot lately?  Barb said it isn't working for her.  Server 1 has had a lot of problems, and I thought they were fixed.  I hope they didn't trash Tagbot like they did my old HTML codes!

Have a Happy Day!

I just had to tell Joanne and my mom that I will be staying home tomorrow.  Josh is sick with fever and cough and Jason and Joanne had it too over the past few weeks.  I cannot take the chance of getting it.  I have finally stopped coughing so much.

It is odd, but I was thinking that Thanksgiving would be the prime time for ISIS to attack. I am praying it does not happen and that no one is hurt.  I wish all the countries would come together and destroy ISIS.  I hate that innocents would be killed to, but what can you do?  I hate it.  I hate ISIS.

The carpet guy is coming on Thanksgiving Day?  Wow.  That seems wrong on so many levels.  I hate it that stores start their sales on Thanksgiving.  Not so bad the ones that wait till the evening.  But those that open during the day are so wrong.  Whatever, as long as you do not mind then all is good.

Crossing my fingers that all goes well with the tree.  It would be quite the fluke if this one did not work.  So maybe Mike is right in not worrying.  Life is too short to worry all the time.  I keep telling myself that, some day it might sink in.

This is the first time I have heard mom say that she might not be here next Christmas or next anything.  At 83, that is not bad.  Not sure Josh will make it to go through the basement so I hope maybe Jason brings recruits. He did last year.

We are supposed to be getting snow too.  Bad weather warnings for the whole holiday weekend.

Tagbot works fine for me.  I made the border to go with the daisy tag just last night.  I wonder why Barb has issues?  I hope it was just a glitch and that she will still be able to use it.

Happy Turkey Day.  Love you my sister.

Hugs,

We got a lot done yesterday ~ for us anyway. I'm proud. ;-)   Tom, the Carpet Guy, brought the four carpet rugs over and they are really nice.  Not only bound but with a material backing that is ~ for want of a better description ~ somewhat sticky, so it won't slide and will protect both the wood and carpeted floors.

We got Marianne and Bill's laundry done and I'll replace the towels in their bathroom and ask Shauna to make the guest room bed for me before Laine comes.   The 'furniture movers' I ordered came so we moved the chairs back between the library and Great Room that we'd moved to make TV watching easier with four of us, and then I moved the furniture around in the Morning Room all by myself to make room for the Christmas tree.  Mike got the tree up and PTL it works!    It's surprising how much larger the room looks with the Christmas tree up with the furniture rearranged and the couch under the window instead of across the back wall.  Kewl.

We put one of the new carpet rugs in the entry way by the front door, and another under the table that holds the Christmas tree so it won't make marks in the carpet.  The other two are in front of our chairs in the Great Room right now.

We probably won't decorate the tree until Saturday, but you should be able to see the lights from outside and tonight we will turn on the outside lights too.

Wow, it doesn't even sound like us, does it.  lol

It snowed overnight but not too much, just enough to cover everything BUT. . . it's coming down now and expected to continue through tomorrow AND it's below freezing.  Sounds like the perfect time to stay inside all warm and cozy.  Sadly, that does mean that I'll have to forego Black Friday Shopping.  Darn!  I'll just have to bear up somehow.  LOL.    I'm not going to be taking the trash to the curb tomorrow either.  No sidewalk ballet for me!  If we get too much trash between now and next Thursday, we'll just put out a trash bag in addition to the can.

I share your feelings and concerns about ISIS and our very special holidays.  I'm sure those bastyards would like nothing more than destroying these special times for us.  I hope those in charge are able to prevent them from doing us harm anytime, but I don't feel safe.

No, Tom the Carpet Guy, came yesterday, not today.

I tried Tagbot on our TnT Server and it worked fine for me there, too, but Barb still can't get it to work.  I HATE how Aimoo screws things up for us, and with no consistency.  She was all ready to make some Christmas borders and now she can't.

I'm sorry you aren't going to be able to spend Thanksgiving with the family, but I definitely understand your reasons.  You've been so sick for so long, you can't take a chance on catching something while your immune system is still so compromised.   Still, I hate to think of you being alone today.    I hope you can find some way to make it special and fun anyway.

Thanksgiving has started at our house.  Instead of the Broadway Musicals that used to be the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, we're watching the original (colorized version) of Miracle on 34th Street.  That always kicks the Holidays off for us.  It's tradition!

We're having a stuffed turkey breast (stuffed with apple cranberry sausage stuffing), plus my 'regular' dressing, candied yams, mashed potatoes and gravy and cranberry sauce and a Bourbon Pumpkin Pie with Strussel  (I don't have to tell you that Mike ordered that.  lol).   I wish you could come here and share it with us.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I'm so thankful to have you in my life.

RE:WELCOME TO NOVEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:11/26/2015 10:57 PM)

I AM EXHAUSTED.  I SPENT THE DAY CLEANING OUT MY CORNER OF THE WORLD.  CHRIS AND SCOTT ARE GOING TO BE CLEANING THE LIVING ROOM CARPET TOMORROW.  I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH STUFF I HAVE AROUND ME.  I ACTUALLY HAVE A NIGHTSTAND AS MY END TABLE WITH 2 DEEP DRAWERS ON MY RIGHT AND A SMALL TABLE TO ME LEFT WITH A TOP DRAWER AND A DEEP TOTE ON A SHELF BELOW.  I STORE ALL KINDS OF THINGS BEHIND MY CHAIR.  LAPTOP CASE WITH ALL EXTRA COMPUTER STUFF. ALL EXTRA MEDICATION AND SUPPLIES, MY IPAD PILLOW, A BLANKET, EXTRA PLASTIC BAGS, ETC.  THEN THERE IS MY EQUIPMENT...NEBULIZER AND SUPPLIES, FAN, PORTABLE OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR AND SUPPLIES, PLUGINS FOR PHONE, IPAD, CAMERA AND KINDLE.  HAD BOXES FULL OF STUFF.  THANK GOD SUZ AND JERRY CAME BY LATE TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH AND RECYCLING.  THEY CARRIED A LOT OF IT TO THE DINING ROOM FOR ME.  I HAD TAKEN THE BIGGEST ONE AND MY BACK AND HIP WERE HURTING.   ALL THEY WILL HAVE TO MOVE TOMORROW IS MOM AND MY RECLINERS, AND OUT 4 TABLES.  SUZ TOOK OUT MY DRAWERS AND PUT THEM IN THE DINING ROOM ALREADY.  THE CURIO, TV AND COUCH WILL STAY PUT.
I LOVE THE ORIGINAL MIRACLE ON 34TH THE BEST!!  I LOVE MAUREEN O'HARA.  THE REMAKES ARE FINE, BUT GIVE ME THE ORIGINAL ANYTIME!!
YOUR MEAL SOUNDS SO WONDERFUL.  JOANNE SENT A PLATE HOME FOR ME THAT I ATE FOR SUPPER.  TURKEY, DRESSING, MASH POTATOES AND GRAVY AND CORN.  THEN PECAN PIE FOR DESSERT.  I HAVE ENOUGH  TURKEY LEFT FOR  SANDWICH.  I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I LOVE MORE.  THE DINNER OR THE SANDWICH, LOL.
OH HAPPY DAY, THE CARPET PIECES TURNED OUT WELL.  THAT IS GREAT PUTTING THEM IN FRONT OF YOUR CHAIRS, THAT PART OF THE CARPET ALWAYS GETS SO MATTED DOWN.
I DO NOT KNOW IF WE WILL GET OUT TREE UP ON SUNDAY OR NOT.  IT WILL DEPEND ON HOW SOON THEY FIND EVERYTHING.  I WISH MOM WAS MORE OPEN TO CHANGES.  SHE PUTS THE SAME THING ON THE RADIATOR EVERY YEAR AND IS THE CURIO.  I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME OF MY THINGS SOMEWHERE.  IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 1O YEARS SINCE I HAVE SEEN MY DECORATIONS.  THE FIRST COUPLE YEARS SOME OF MINE WAS OUT AND THEN NO MORE.  OH WELL.
I THANK GOD FOR BRINGING YOU INTO MY LIFE.
GOD BLESS YOU.
HUGS,

PS...I'M GOING CHRISTMAS NOW, LOL.
