RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT
(Date Posted:05/02/2015 9:00 AM)

Good Morning!

It's supposed to get up to 80 again today.  I guess Spring has Sprung.  Much of the rest of the week is supposed to be cooler an rainy.  I enjoy that too, if I don't need to be out in it too much.

Oooh, look at the beautiful new pages!   I feel guilty about your going to all that work for just little old me ~ but I know you also love letting your creative juices flow.   Everything is beautiful and fresh and lovely.  Thank you!

Kentucky Derby Day!  Last year our neighbor's Sue and John had a Kentucky Derby party, and at the last minute I had to miss it.  It looked grand.  Now we got an invitation from a favorite restaurant to their Kentucky Derby Celebration in their lounge.  $8 specialty drinks like Mint Julep and several other things and then The Derby on their TV. People are encouraged to come dressed for the Derby, as we were to at Sue and John's party.  I do have my big floppy red hat, but neither of us has the stamina to go.  We're becoming such stick-in-the-muds.  Just too much going on for us old folks.

smiley59

I hope you are feeling better and maybe getting caught up on your rest a bit.   Have a lovely day.

Not really happy with my results and I need to finish. I need to change the icons and I cannot get the hover color to change. But maybe today it will.
I got something in my eye last night and it was driving me crazy.  My eye got all swollen and red.  I thought I may have scratched it. I had to shut everything down undone since I only have the one eye. Mom gave me eye drops and a cold wet wash cloth. I laid here in my chair with it on the eye closed for about an hour and it felt better. So far today so good, though it is a bit itchy and I am trying my best not to rub or scratch it. I think I need to rest it throughout the day.
Your Comcast deal is a nightmare. I do not know how Mike kept his cool on the phone.  I hope it is all straightened out for now and that you are done having to deal with them for a while.
So did Shanna come?  Or is that not yet?  I had Friday in my head but you make no mention of it so I must be wrong.
Well, it is time to make lunch. The tornado alarm is going off.  (they set it off every Sat. at noon as a test.)
Hugs,

Ok, I give up.  I changed the icons and again I changed the hover color.

And what I want it what shows in the skin, icons, etc. but it will not show for us.  I

did eliminate the border on one of my fills.  I did not think that one out very well.

I should redo the border too.  Anyhow, going to rest the eye now.

RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT
(Date Posted:05/03/2015 7:09 AM)

Hello.

It's another bright, sunshiney day with a small chance of rain.  It's supposedly going to be a bit cooler and rainy for the rest of the week.  Shauna comes tomorrow and will probably be here most of the day.  How tired am I going to get watching someone else work her buns off cleaning my house?  We'll see.  Of course first we'll have to see if she actually comes!  smiley70  If you hear an unearthly scream from 'down South', you'll know what happened.

She's Baa-ack.  Not only the lovely new pages but a great new tag.  Thank you!

I don't know what you need to change.  Everything looks great to me, but if you are having trouble don't be sure it isn't Aimoo and not you.   The ever changing fonts are one indicator.  I saw on the Facebook help that they were 'resetting the servers' last night so maybe that helped ~~ or made it worse.  So many things just can't be counted on to work the same.  Ack!  Case in point.  My text looks fine when I'm typing and in edit, and it's barely readable when I post.  I don't know what to do about it, either. I've tried four different texts, two different sizes, bold and un-bold.   Anyway, don't wear yourself out or strain your eye.

This probably doesn't really relate because we are so far apart physically, but I've been having fits with my eyes too lately.  Burning and blurring ~ then when I mentioned it to Mike, thinking it was maybe some kind of allergy, he said he'd had some of the same issues.  Must be "that" time of the year.  At least that's all I hope it is, for all of us!

Shauna is going to come every other Friday, but this first time she will come tomorrow and I think stay a long time.  The house is very near to being condemned.   On the surface, if you were to drop in, it doesn't look all that bad, but believe me, it is.   It may take her two 'deep cleans' to get us back to where we should be, but how wonderful it will be to have a really clean house again ~~~ assuming she comes and really does the quality of work we think she will.  Fingers crossed.

Then on Wednesday I have the dread Echo.  It's only an hour, but such an unpleasant hour, and then you worry about what it shows.  I'm choosing not to worry but to leave it in the hands of my Prayer Warrior and God.  It's easy to pray for others but I have so much trouble praying for myself.  Mike is a very effective Prayer Warrior, thank goodness.

Thanks again for the darling tag.

RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT
(Date Posted:05/03/2015 5:29 PM)

Before I forget like I did the last time...I am praying for you for the Echo.  I know how much alike we are and how much it hurts.  We are both so sensitive.  I would be more worried about the pain than the results.  I know all will be well, I do not feel any dread in regards to it.  Hang in there my dear, I feel your pain.
It is beautiful here.  74 and very breezy.  I want to go out for a while.  Maybe in a little bit.
My friend Gary stopped by for a visit.  Longer than I thought.  He has been working on cleaning out his dads house and he came across a big pig bank that I had painted and given him.  His nickname had been Hogger for some reason that escapes me.  He did not want to put it in a rummage sale or something so asked me if I would like it back to pass on to one of my nephews, so I said sure.  He dropped it by and stayed for a couple hours.  It was a nice visit.  I will have to photograph the pig, he is big and heavy.  I have one photo that Gary had sent me, let me find it.  It is not the best and you cannot tell that it is 2 feet high.  I have no clue why I did not paint the mouth or nose area at all.  I may have to remedy that as it is driving me crazy, lol.  I am going to see if Josh wants it.  Or maybe I will hold on to it for now.  We will see.

Have I mentioned that I am doing well with my weight loss?  I had several weeks where I gained a lot and was very upset.  But when I got sick and could not eat for a few days it seemed to help me get on track and have again cut back on what I eat.  I am at about a 35 lb loss since starting all this.  That makes me happy.  I see Denise on Wed and also the Nephrologist so will see what he has decided.  I hope this will just result in 6 month or 1 year follow ups.  I do not need the cost of more visits than that.  My hip is doing great. The last thought was that I would need to see an ortho, but during my illness the pain went away.  Maybe the med just needed time to get established in my system.  All I know is that I am happy to not have to see another doctor at this time.
Am crossing my fingers that Shauna shows up on time and does a wonderful job of cleaning your home.  As an added bonus, the cats will love her and she them. :)
Have a Marvelous Monday!!
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT
(Date Posted:05/04/2015 1:03 PM)

Hey There!

Sorry I'm late, but I know you understand.  We watched Dr Ben Carson's announcement that he was running for president this morning.   Inspiring speech even if we had heard much of it before.  I don't think he has a chance to win the primary, but I think if by some miracle he could be elected, he just might be our best President ever.  Even pretty much knowing he can't be elected, he is inspiring to listen to.   And that's my politics for today.  . If you ever want to know my positions on things, just listen to Dr Ben.  lol    (and no need to comment on this ~ unless you want to of course.  I know we are coming from entirely different places, but we love each other anyway.  I suspect many of my Democrat friends can agree with Dr Carson on many issues, even if they wouldn't vote for him.)

He finished shortly after Shauna was due to arrive. She called about 5 minutes after her ETA and said traffic was worse than expected and that she would be here in 5 minutes ~ and she was!   She has worked in our bathroom for 2 hours.  We had some mold in the grout in the shower and I had asked Marcela to work on it several times.  Shauna got most if not all of it out and said she would keep on top of it in the future.  I know our Lisa would have too.  She had cleaned the walls and floor and more in the toilet and was cleaning the shower floor with bleach when I went in to see how she was doing.   The fumes about killed me.  I am concerned for her, but she said she's used to it.  I opened some windows and turned the fan on.   Anyway, she won't get the whole house deep cleaned today I'm sure, but where she is deep cleaning, she is DEEP cleaning!   I'm thrilled!

After she got started, I got online ~ and found that I had some malware.  I ran the malware software, and it said it removed 30 malwares.  Then I still had some strange things happening, so Mike ran it again for me and found 32 more.   I came in here and had advertising pop ups!  Aarrgghh.  Ultimately, Mike restored my system to April 28th, and I THINK I'm ok now.   I have no idea what I got into or how I got into it, but Mike said "Don't do that again!"  LOL  Okay.     Now I have sticky keys so I need to POUND the spacebar, so I need to clean the keyboard  before it drives me insane ~~ or insaner.     I'll may have to come back later to talk to you.

Thank you for your prayers for the Echo.  I know you understand.  Not everyone does. Many people experience no pain in an echo ~ but we sure do!     Mike's last echo took about 20 minutes.  I brought a book and didn't even have time to finish a chapter.   Mine are never less than an hour.   I have "aortic stenosis" (bit of a blockage) and leaky valves so there is always a bit of concern, but my previous cardiologist  used to go about as much by how I felt as what the charts showed.   I had some issues before I started losing weight, but not so much now.

Your weight loss is AWESOME!   I'm so proud of you ~  and jealous of you, too!   I've lost a big  17 lbs since the first of the year.  I just can't seem to budge the blubber.   You are da QUEEN!

I LOVE the pig!  It's wonderful.  As a bonus, a nice long visit with Gary.  How fun!

I'm with you about passionately believing that Less is More when it comes to Dr visits.  Fingers crossed for you!!

I love my darling new tag, too.  Thank you so much.

I'd best go and work on the sticky keys now.

Love 'n Hugs,

I do not know much about Dr. Carson, but if he is as inspiring as you say, then you just never know.  I believe that is how Barack Obama got in the first time.  I found him inspiring, but never thought we would get a black man in office as President.  So you just never know.  I like a candidate that inspires me. Inspiration and follow through is what this country needs. Ok, there is my opinion, lol.  I have to say that if Hilary gets the Dem nomination, I will more than likely vote for her.  I know there are secrets and illegal stuff that has gone on in her past.  But I really do not think there are many politicians out there that are not crooked in some way.  She has overcome everything that has been thrown at her and survived things that would have destroyed most careers.  I think she is a tough broad and maybe that is what we need.  I would like to see a  Rep. woman run too!  But not an idiot like Palin.  I am sorry but she lost them that election. She spoke without thinking and was not well enough prepped. She became a joke.  It will be interesting to see how things go.  The last Rep. I voted for was Reagan.  Ok, I will shut up now.
Yay for Shauna looking good in the debut!!  I hope it continues and certainly sounds as if it will.  How about the cats?  Do they like her?  If so, she's a shoe in!!
You my dear, have to remember that I have so much more to lose than you do so it is easier for me.  Makes a difference when you do not have so much to lose.  I have a long way to go, you do not!
Want to share a couple pics of Josh and his date from Prom.  Have not talked to him but he posted that Prom sucked but the Poker was good, so waiting to hear what he says about that.  Here he is with his date Sam.  She is beautiful.

RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT
(Date Posted:05/05/2015 12:12 PM)

Good Afternoon!
OMG I may take laziness to a whole new level.  I don't want to do a THING.  Actually, I don't really have to do too much today, so that's a good thing.  On Sunday we got all the laundry in the whole house done, folded and put away.    Then of course yesterday I cleaned the house ~~ or at least I feel like I did.  lol    Ahhhhhhh.

Shauna really did a nice job.  She spent the most time in the bedroom and bathroom and they sparkle.  She got the "Top, but not all of the toes" of the rest of the house, though even without "toes" cleaned to her satisfaction, the floors sure look good, and so basically does everything else.  Doing a white glove, microscopic inspection I found a few things that weren't perfect, but I won't even consider the possibility of complaining.  She was here for 8 hours (!) ~ well, I told ya it was dirty ~ but that's not much more time than would have been spent if we'd had the three regular cleanings we would have had, and it's a whole lot cleaner than it would have been.   My face is smiling.  She starts her regular every-other-Friday cleanings the Friday after next.

Of course now the Powder Room needs to be cleaned again.  I went in there and allowed Shogun to play with The Water Monster and he was particularly aggressive today.  I finally had to just leave.  I even turned the water on full force and he still kept trying to get it before it escaped down the drain.  I think he even tried to bite it.  Ha.  So now I hafta go and clean the mirror and sink ~~~ if he'll let me.   LOL

Now I hope for a nice quiet day.   Tomorrow I go for my Echo early and then we plan to go somewhere for lunch, so I may not see you until later tomorrow.

Did you  ever see the movie "Gifted Hands" with Cuba Gooding?  That is the story of Dr Ben Carson's early life, and it's impressive whether or not you are interested in his politics.  His mother was born into a bad situation and had only a third grade education.   She married when she was 13, and had the two boys before she discovered that her husband was a bigamist and divorced him.  With only a third grade education, she became a "domestic" and worked from early morning until very late at night to support the boys and herself.   Though she couldn't read, she demanded that her boys not only read so many books a week, but write a book report on them for her ~~~~ which she couldn't read!   Of course the boys didn't know that.   The boys hated it, of course, but over time developed a love of learning that ultimately led Ben to obtaining a medical degree from  Harvard and becoming a top Neurosurgeon and the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins, who developed a technique for separating conjoined twins that was previously thought to be impossible.   You might enjoy reading the book or watching the movie.    It's not 'political' but I admire him so much for never playing the Victim Card, or for that matter the Race Card.  His mother is ill right now, and I admire her so much it is very easy to pray for her.

Mike Hukabee announced that he is running today.   Good speech.    You mentioned a woman running on the Republican side, and yesterday Carly Fiorina announced her candidacy.  I don't believe she has a chance, but I have to say I would love to watch her debate Hillary.   Oooh,it's gonna be a long time until November 2016.  (sigh & lol)

The last Democrat I voted for was Jimmy Carter, and I've already apologized and promised to never do that again.  Tee Hee.    Right now I could vote for any of the Republicans who have declared.  There are others who have not declared but likely will that I would have more trouble supporting.  Quite a lot of trouble in some cases.  I soooo hope that I won't once again have to vote "against" rather than "for".

In my long lost and clearly misspent youth, I used to go on Atkins and lose 15 lbs in a month.   Now I'm not really doing Atkins (maybe I should) but I am low carbing it, and 17 lbs in 4 months is disappointing.  Still I'm not giving up, and I think you are doing AWESOME!

"Our" Josh is SOOOO cute, and his date really is beautiful.  Too bad he didn't have a good time.  :-(

Shauna did get along well with the cats.   She was telling me that she has 2 chihuahuas and 3 kids and a big currently overgrown backyard.  They heard a big racket coming from there and when they went out they found three kittens on the back stoop, two had been killed by the dogs and the third was being terrorized.  They got the dogs in and picked up the remaining kitten and brought her in.  She is a holy terror, wild as any feral cat even though they have tried and are trying to socialize her.  You know I love cats, but I can't imagine how they can live with her.  She scratches and claws and I would be afraid for myself and the kids and the dogs, but she doesn't want to turn her over to someone who would kill her.  Of course I wanted to hug her for that.  I told her to call the Cat Care Society and see what they could recommend.  I don't know if they'd take her, but they are a no-kill facility.  The Dumb Friends League, while good enough for me to donate to, will euthanize animals that can't be socialized.    Anyway, she's clearly our kind of people.

Another lovely tag ~~ Thank you!

Have a great day!

Yay for Shauna.  Sounds as if she may be a real gem.  God Bless her for taking in the kitten.  It is hard picturing 2 chihuahuas killing kittens...they always seem so harmless...just yappy.  Feral is hard to
deal with.  I know some have been rehabilitated in the past, but many cannot be.  And I am sure it does not help that she has the dogs as a constant source of irritation to the cat.  She should do some research to see what is recommended.
I saw your Dr. Ben on TV today and was surprised that he was black.  I do not know why.  He sounds great in many ways, but of course there are some issues, as there always is.  I also saw the woman who announced her candidacy.  She seemed confident that she was qualified.  It will be interesting to see how it all goes.  How do you feel about Walker.  I have to say that I do not trust him in the least and never could vote for him.  I am sure we will be seeing a lot more candidates before long.  It will be a long 2 years, lol.
I have never read or seen Gifted Hands, so I will have to check it out.  Maybe I can get the book for my Kindle from our library, I have never tried that yet.
Praying your echo goes well and that my appts do too!
I am not overly thrilled with this tag.  We had to use one of the scrap blog freebies and this one had the most in it.  I so wanted to colorize but could not, lol.
Hugs,

HELLO DOROTHY
I AM HOPING THAT YOUR ECHO WENT AS EASY AS POSSIBLE.
I WENT TO SEE DENISE GATIEN-BRUX NP FOR MY DIABETES.
WEIGHED IN AND SINCE I STARTED ALL THIS IN NOVEMBER
I HAVE LOST 37 LBS.  VERY HAPPY WITH THAT, BUT I WANT
MORE, LOL.  STILL FEELING THAT THE BLOOD SUGARS ARE A
BIT TOO HIGH.  SO INCREASING FROM 25 TO 28 UNITS IN
THE MORNING AND FROM 10 TO 15 AT SUPPER TIME.  HOPING
THIS WILL BRING THEM MORE IN LINE.  FOR THE ISSUES I AM
HAVING WITH MY LEFT WRIST SHE SUGGESTED I GET A BRACE
THAT DOES NOT ALLOW MY THUMB MOVEMENT AND WHERE IT
AT NIGHT AND AS MUCH AS I CAN DURING THE DAY SO I WILL
GET ONE AND GIVE IT A GO.   OTHERWISE ALL IS WELL THERE.
UPDATE BLOOD SUGARS IN 1 WEEK AND F/U WITH HER I 1 MO.
AFTER LUNCH IS WAS ON TO DR. PASIUK THE KIDNEY GUY.
I HAVE KIDNEY DISEASE AND BOTH KIDNEYS SHOW SCAR TISSUE,
ETC.  FUNCTION IS UP SOME SINCE HE ELIMINATED SOME MEDS.
IT WENT FROM 40 TO 44 %.  ALL THE OTHER TESTS ARE NOT BAD
AND ALL ARE IN THE GREEN AND NONE IN THE RED SO THAT IS
GOOD.  I AM DEFICIENT IN VITAMIN D SO I NEED TO START
TAKING THAT.  MY MOM WAS TOO AND SHE TAKE VITAMIN D.
HE SAID MY KIDNEYS SHOULD BE GOOD FOR A GREAT MANY
YEARS TO COME.  HE SAID THE ONLY THING I NEED TO DO IS
WHEN ANYONE WANTS TO PUT ME ON ANY NEW MEDS I HAVE
TO SAY I HAVE KIDNEY DISEASE AND IS THE MED SAFE FOR
THEM.  IF NOT, FIND SOMETHING ELSE.  FOLLOW UP IN 6 MO
AND LABS BEFORE THAT ARE NON FASTING.  PIECE OF CAKE.
I AM HAPPY.
BUT THEN THERE IS MY INR.  I AM LIKE 3.6 AND THEY WERE
NOT HAPPY.  BUT THEN I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ANTIBIOTIC
AND THAT EXPLAINS IT, HOPEFULLY!  CONTINUE ON SAME DOSE
AND RECHECK IN 2 WEEKS.
SO ALL IN ALL, NOT TOO BAD.

HAHAHAHAHA, IT STILL SHOWS ME ON AND TWO GUESTS.  BUT LOOKING CLOSER, ONE GUEST HAS THE SAME USER IP AS ME SO IT MUST BE COUNTING ME AS A VISITOR TOO.  IT MAY BE BECAUSE I HAVE 2 WINDOWS OPEN.  SO AM THINKING YOU MIGHT BE THE OTHER GUEST.

RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT
(Date Posted:05/07/2015 12:08 PM)

Hi.  Sorry I didn't post yesterday.   The echo went well, extremely uncomfortable of course, but not too much pain.  I have an appointment with my Cardiologist in a week and a half and I expected to discuss it with him then, but he called me with the results yesterday.  No major changes, blockages no worse but one of the valves has a larger leak so I need to have another echo in a year.  Darn.  I'm sure the fact that I was having breathing problems the last time I visited him played into that, and I'm not having nearly as many problems now.

We went to the Bonefish for lunch and a nice celebratory glass of wine, and after we got home I was so tired I could hardly move ~ lol.  I hadn't slept the night before and was fairly stressed during the day before ~~ no logical reason, just me being me.  Anyway I waited until later to post, but then I got calls from two neighbors who thought an ambulance they saw on Friday had come to our house and wanted to be sure we were ok.  Lovely that people care, but I was on the phone for two hours.  Ha!  This morning, I have a "Tired Hangover" or something.  Just couldn't get warm and couldn't stop feeling tired.  We had breakfast and are watching a Blue Bloods Marathon.  I think that may be all I'm good for today.  ;-)

Thinking of your surprise at how much I admire Dr Carson, I think you folks on the Left tend to think the reason folks on the Right don't like the Obamas is because they are Racists and hate all black people.  Well hopefully you don't think that of me or our friendship will be at an end because clearly we wouldn't know each other at all..   I don't like the Obamas because ~ well, I won't list the reasons, but you have to know they have nothing to do with Race.  That's such an easy way to shut people up, by name calling, but it doesn't change their hearts.   I will just say that,
knowing your feelings had nothing to do with their Race or Sexual Orientation or Gender, if you think about how you felt about  President Bush and how you feel about Governor Walker and multiply that by 10,  you would have an idea how I feel about the Obamas.

I really hate that defensive tone people take when they say "some of my best friends are . . . ", but that said if you checked out my Facebook you'd see that I follow several Black Political thinkers, not because they are black but because they are smart, well informed and worthy of my respect.   I donated to Mia Love's campaign to become the first Conservative woman of color in the house ~ and I take more than a little pride in the fact that in my very small way, I helped our country gain a great new Representative, whatEVER her color.

I honestly don't know how I feel about Walker.  Reading only the headlines I'd have to think he's great, but I haven't read the content beneath the headlines.  Because of what you have shared, I know he has hurt real people so my radar is up.  I've ordered a book he wrote to see what he says about himself and see if that helps me understand him, though I know that often what people write about themselves isn't very close to the truth.

I know I can't vote for Hillary.  I really do "Remember Benghazi" among so many other things.   There are several Conservatives who interest me, but it's early.  Much to be learned and much mud to be slung before we find who the last man standing is.  I'm pretty sure it won't be the two I would most like to see at this point, and I fear one of the two I would LEAST like to see may be 'the one'.
It's going to be a loooong time until November 2016.

No, I wasn't on yesterday until late at night when I checked out your posts.  When I did, I was the only one on.   I never think to check to see "Who's on".  I should do that more.

I'm so glad your numbers are good and really proud of your weight loss!  Mostly I am so glad and THANKFUL that your kidneys are not in failure!  Kidney disease is scary and you definitely have to watch it, but after what Barb has gone through I was really afraid for you.  This is SUCH good news!

Just as I read about your INR I remembered that I should have done my blood test this morning.  I like to do it at about the same time of the day, and I'm a little late, but thanks for reminding me!   Best I do that now!

Thanks for the TWO lovely tags!

Hugs,

A Lou Ann Border from TagBot Borders

I am stupid and just lost my post and I was done with it.  I foolishly wanted

to check if anyone else was on since I was talking about that.  I never

thought about that it would go to a new window.  I will write tomorrow as I

do not want to do it all again now.

Hugs, Lou Ann

RE:WELCOME TO MAY CHAT

Morning.

It looks like another purrrfect day to curl up with a warm smiley31 and a good smiley36 ~ and maybe a wee snooze.   Rainy, overcast and you can barely see Denver.   I had thought about trying to move the flower pots on the retaining wall, but since it's supposed to rain all day, I think that's a purrrfect excuse not to.    I treated myself to a signed copy of Dana Perino's new book and I'm anxious to start it as soon as I finish the Laura Childs mystery I'm currently reading.  I just love Dana.

Maybe we'll continue our Blue Bloods Marathon too.  We burned through all of Season One yesterday and I was amazed at how fresh and new it all seemed.  I know we have watched every episode before.

Books, cats, Blue Bloods, snoozing ~ It all sounds great to me.

Our forecast of snow for Mother's Day has been canceled.

We watched the two episodes of Bones last night and I found myself wondering if they aren't getting ready to bring the series to an end.  Bones is pregnant again and questioning her sometimes dangerous job when they have so much to loose.  Angela and Hodgens were making plans to move to Paris!  Are they trying to tell us something?  Apparently they are still in contract talks but it sure seemed like they are heading for a wrap up.   Next week's episode focuses on my favorite Muslim, Aristu, being kidnapped in Iran.  I love Cam and Aristu, so I'm looking forward to this ~~~ unless they kill him off or something!  Then I may quit them!

I did get my blood test, a wee bit "late", but it was a lovely 2.3.

Well, how poopy to lose your post!  I've done things like that to myself, and it's sooo maddening.  I'm sorry that happened to you.  I hope everything else went well, and continues to go well!

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
