RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/14/2014 2:36 PM)

Yesterday was enjoyable, but not very productive.

Nan picked me up and we got out to Louann and Bruces around

2pm...before Louann even got home from work...but Kirstie and

Liam were there....yippee, baby fix.  I got right to work but Nan

went to munching as she had not had lunch.  Kirstie was working

on fondant embellishments for Nerissa's baby shower cake.

When Louann got home she was working on putting Nicks dress

uniform into a shadow box.  She took it apart I do not know how

many times because after she would close it up she would see a

couple dog hairs in there.  Cooper was all over the place.  She

finally had it to where no one saw any hairs in it.  Nick was very

pleased with the results.  It is now in his man cave.

Laughed when I saw this as this is Kirstie and Nick's basement which I have never seen and those couch pieces are from Louann and Bruces home a long time ago.  Nan got into her bag and her project was missing and she went and checked her car and nothing.  About 4 Nerissa called and she was going to go home and then come out and pick up supper at A&W on her way out.  So Kirstie called in our order.  I had to put my project away since it was for Rissa's shower.  Nan got really tired and decided to go home early.  So we went home before Nerissa left.  So between holding baby time and Nerissa coming out..I did not get much time to work on the cocoon.   I am going to work on it while the ladies are here tonight.  I made fudgy brownies with fudge frosting for Mothers Day but those that ate dessert ate the pie.  So we will have the brownies with butter pecan ice cream for dessert.  The ladies are picking up Culver's on their way here.  Yummmm Mushroom Swiss Butter Burger fries and rings.  Mom and I always order 2 different sides and then split them.
Cloudy day in the mid 50's, same listed for tomorrow.  Sat is Nerissa's shower and Mon is my Pulmonary Functions test and results for that and the sleep study with Dr Hatahet.  I can go weeks not doing anything...that this period has and will be incredibly busy for me and it takes a lot out of me.
Sun-Mother's Day at my sisters
Tue-Louann and Bruce's craft day
Wed- Carol and Gloria coming
Sat-Nerissa Shower
Mon- PFT and Hatahet
somewhere in the finishing the cocoon and trying to fix my moms check book that she has really screwed up.  I knew this would happen when she balanced it herself last month....now I will have to go back 2 months :(  Wish me luck...I need a miracle!
Have a great day.
Hugs,
My time as MOTW is done.  I got a ton of Summer tags because one of the
challenges was what you like to do in summer.  Lot's of big breasted women in bikini's.
Hate them.

How de Do

It's still cool here now, but may head for the low 60s with some chance of rain.   The Landscaper who is going to put in the lilacs called yesterday and told Mike that the snow had put them behind and asking if they could come next week.  Mike expressed his concern that getting in late, the plants would still be in good shape and he assured Mike they were really good, hearty plants.   We felt better about everything after his call.

We're thinking of going out for dinner tonight and stopping at the meat market.  Otherwise same-old, same-old.

Lou Ann, I had envisioned a whole day of crafting for you.  Still, your partial day sounded nice, and I'm sure you will get the cocoon done.   Your friends are all so artistic, whether it be with crafts, paintings or food!

Oooh, Baby time!   How lovely!

I am really impressed with the uniform in the shadow box ~ very impressive.

I do know what you mean about 'feast or famine' of activities.   Either we are bordering on bored, or we have something going every day!

How nice that you already have the brownies made for your get-together tonight.  I know I don't have to tell you to have fun!

TGIF!

This week has gone by so fast and been so weird.  I don't think I'll hate to see it come to an end.   We went to the Bonefish for dinner last night and then came home and watched TV until time to turn the lights off.    I woke up at 2AM with another bout of coughing so I got up and went into the front room ~ and coughed for an hour, then I fell asleep and slept until 5.  Then I came back into the bedroom and slept until a quarter to 6.

When I got up at 2:15, Mike was having a bad dream and I yelled at him to wake him up.  He doesn't remember it this morning, but when I came back to bed, he got up and went into the Man Cave.   I suspect we aren't going to be a couple of balls of energy today!

We should get the lilacs in next week. One of the three bushes miraculously came back and is doing fairly well.  We dug the other two up last year and threw them out.  We really didn't expect the third one to make it so we ordered three Bloomerangs (re-blooming miniature lilac bushes),  We though about digging the survivor up and throwing it out so all three bushes would be the same, but 'he' has been through so much and fought to live that we just can't bring ourselves to throw him out.  So, we're going to have a Bloomerang on either side of 'him', and hope it looks ok.  We're also having a Mock Orange put in on the side near the front.  Hopefully next week.

My concern now is the four planters we have in the front that we fill with petunias.  I really can't go out and plant them in place like a normal human being would, so Mike has been bringing them up to the porch for me to plant and then taking them back.  We have a little cart to carry them in, but still I worry that it's too hard for him.  I'm not even looking forward to going to the Garden Center to buy them ~ all the standing really gets to me.  I love it when they  are planted and blooming and I can water them from the deck which is great.  I just dread getting to that point.   I fear if we wait much longer everything will be picked over, but we don't have the water to the hose hooked up yet and I was hoping we could wait until the Lilac Guy came and he could do it for us.   Ah well.  It will work out.

Happy Friday, All!

I MADE IT!  FINISHED THE COCOON AND HAT AFTER SUPPER TONIGHT.  THEN I WRAPPED IT AND F0RG0T TO TAKE A PICTURE OF IT.  WILL SEE IF I HAVE TIME TO TAKE IT APART IN THE MORNING BEFORE GOING.  THE SHOWER STARTS AT 11AM.  SUZ IS PICKING ME UP AT 10:30 AND GETTING ME THERE, LOUANN WILL BRING ME HOME.  I HAVE NOT GOTTEN MOMS CHECKBOOK STRAIGHTENED OUT, IT IS SUCH A MESS.  I AM OFF $80.  I TOLD HER THAT TOMORROW AFTERNOON OR SUNDAY I WOULD REWRITE THE LAST 2 MONTHS AND TRY TO FIND THE ERRORS.  SHE DID COMMENT THAT MAYBE SHE SHOULD JUST LET ME TAKE CARE OF THE CHECK BOOK BALANCING EACH MONTH.  I HOPE SHE WILL RECALL THAT WHEN THE STATEMENT COMES NEXT MONTH, OTHERWISE I WILL SWITCH TO PAPERLESS STATEMENTS AND THEN I WILL HAVE TO DO IT. LOL.

HAD A GOOD TIME WHEN CAROL AND GLORIA CAME. THOUGH IT WAS VERY HARD TO WATCH IDOL WITH THEM HERE.  THEY TALK ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT.  SEEMS NEITHER OF THEM IS WATCHING IT ANY MORE.  ALEX WAS ELIMINATED SO THE FINALE WITH BE CALEB AND JENA.  OF THE TWO I HOPE JENA WINS.

DANCING WITH THE STARS IS SO GOOD, THE THE WRONG PERSON WENT HOME.  CHARLIE (OLYMPIC GOLD ICE DANCING) WAS ELIMINATED AND HE IS SOOOO GOOD.  BOTH CANDACE AND JAMES SHOULD HAVE GONE BEFORE HIM AND ALSO PROBABLY AMY (THE DOUBLE AMPUTEE).  MERYL (THE OTHER HALF OF THE ICE DANCING TEAM) IS STILL GOING STRONG AND PROBABLY WILL WIN.  THOUGH I AM THROWING MY VOTES TO AMY AND DEREK. THEY ARE REMARKABLE!!  I HAVE A COUPLE NEW PICS TO SHARE OF LIAM.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.

I'm off to a good start ~ I slept straight through from midnight until 5AM, and then dozed for another half hour ~ Yay!    Surprisingly I didn't feel bad yesterday after my almost no sleep night, as I'd anticipated.

smiley3

I'm not watching any of the talent/reality shows anymore. Actually the only one I did watch was Dancing.  I've heard it's really good this year, but I just can't seem to get interested.  Probably if I'd watched a few episodes I'd be hooked.

We watched the season finale of Grimm and then the second season finale of Kingdom with the delictable Stephen Fry (Dr Gordon-Gordon from Bones).  Lots of shows we watch are having season finales, but several more we watch will start up again in June.   I still don't really like the way they do the shows now, but I'm adjusting so that I don't miss as many episodes as i did when they originally started this strangeness.

Ooooh, the pictures are Wonderful!  Liam is absolutely adorable and so cuddle-able!   I'm so glad you're getting some snuggle time with him!

I am beginning to hate Instagram!  Christina shares pictures of Vincent there and they are too adorable ~~~ and I can't steal them like I can from Facebook.  I'm going to have to ask for them to email a few for me to save, and share.   Usually when Nikki posts pictures of Lucy there she also posts them on Facebook where the Klepto Great Great Aunt can snag them, and Katie shares pictures of Jack directly ~~~ but Vince, who is a precious very plump happy 4 month old is eluding me.

Liam is too precious.    Have fun at the shower.  Maybe you can get a pic, there.

Have a glorious weekend.

Love ya

Good Morning

OhMyGosh!  It's already 46 degrees and we are heading for the 80s today, with no wind and no rain!  I'm not sure I can handle it ~ but I'll try.

Right now Shogun is under the covers snuggled next to me, but often this is the way my mornings spent with you look.

Coffee, Cuddle-buddy, Laptop.  Yup, that's everything.

Later in the day, Chrystie takes over whether in the front room or the man cave, she always needs a cuddle.

I wonder what it would feel like to just be able to sit in a chair by myself?  She starts out curled on my lap, the sort of rears back and puts a 'hand' up toward my face to be sure I notice her.

How was the shower?  I hope you got pictures!

RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/19/2014 12:11 AM)

Things have been crazy and I am really exhausted.

The shower was lovely, but I am just so alone at them.

Louann's sister in law, Jan sat with me and was chatting,

but then their sister in law Lucy joined them and I was then

completely ignored.  First we ate...Louann got me a plate and

disappeared.  But she did not bring my a fork.  So I had to

wait and I finally caught Rissa and she got me one.  As they

were finishing up eating they played a game like they do on

"Let's Make a Deal" by asking for items you might have in

your purse.  I do not carry one.  With my cane, oxygen and

whatever else I might need...the purse is just too much.  So

I was left out of that too.  Then the opening of gifts lasted

about 2 hours.  Then another hour of clean up.  It was a long

day.  All weekend our internet has been going in and out.  Today

mostly out so I am way behind in everything.  I forgot to get a

pic of the frog cocoon, so will have to get one when she puts it

on the baby and gets a pic.  Here are some pics.

I love this one of Rissa and Matt

The shower.

The Oh Baby wording kept falling down so they finally gave up and
'
left it down.  Matt came for the opening and after being told he

was not opening and displaying the gifts right he said "I knew I

should have called in sick."

My beautiful Nerissa (Rissa)

One of the gifts was this ring carrier and the gifter demonstrated it

on Matt.  It was a running joke all through the opening which items

Matt would demonstrate and which ones he would not.  He was more

than willing with the toys but he drew the line when it came to the

breast pump.  Liam is the lucky little volunteer.  Next Kirstie tried it

with another way and loved it so she is looking to get on now.

Liam seemed to love it and both her hands were free.

Liam just keeps getting cuter and cuter.  I got to hold him the whole

time they were cleaning up. :)

Some new shots posted today.

I think the next one is nearly a smile.

Gotta go.  Have to be up and at them and ready to go for a

8:55 am pick up tomorrow morning.  PFT and Dr. Hatahet.

1st at 9:15 and the next at 10:30.  Then 3:30 phone interview

the state rep to see if I still qualify for the assistance with

my medicare premium.  I hope so.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/19/2014 8:24 AM)

Good Morning!

Are you ready for a brand new week?    We were in the 80s yesterday and should be in the high 70s today.  Could Winter really be over?

This may be "Flower Week" ~ I say "may" because nothing is ever certain anymore, it seems.   We should get a call telling us when the lilacs will be installed today, and we tentatively plan to go to the garden center and pick up some petunias for the pots in the front.  Mike has a sore ankle this morning so we'll see how that goes.   He did pull out the cart he bought before we moved to see if the pots would fit to transport them to the porch for me to plant, and I think they will.  Barely.  I haven't seen the cart since he got it and I even forgot what it looked like.  Why we haven't been using it right along I will never know.  Ha!  It's low and wide and could work perfectly.   Or not.  (See how much faith I have that anything will go right?  lol)

smiley2

Lou Ann, your friends always do and have the MOST fun things!  The shower looked grand, but I do "hear" you about feeling isolated.  That's what i feel at parties where everyone is always standing but me or Mike and me, plus these are parties where I'm not close friends so it's somewhat embarrassing too.  Still, it must have been fun to see all the great things they were getting and Matt sounds like a really fun guy ~ AND you got some pure Liam time, too!    The pictures are great!

Good luck with all your appointments.   I hope everything goes perfectly.

Have a Mahvelous Monday!

RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/19/2014 8:33 PM)

What a day it has been.

Had the PFT and then my appt with Dr. Hatahet.  I do not know what to think as he tells me something different each time I see him.  Sleep study showed I have sleep apnea, duh!  I need to be treated for it and need a Cpap Machine, another duh!! I have to use my oxygen by attaching it to the Cpap.  But it will delete the oxygen...so I have to get a pulse ox monitor and where it over night because I may have to raise the amount of liters of O2 at night to compensate the diluting of it.  They called to set up my getting that and I said I do not even have the Cpap yet.  Jeepers.  They did not call me today.  Then the pulmonary function test.  The last one I had done was 2007 and my pulmonary function has decreased considerably since then so he wants a Cat Scan.  That is set for June 30.  My follow-up appt with him is July 28 to review how the CPap and I are doing and the results of the CT Scan.  I hate that I have to wait a full month to find out what that showed.  So I am waiting on hearing from Agnesian Health Shoppe about the CPap and the contact the sleep study people about the pulse ox recording.  Then I had my phone interview with the State about their continuing to pay my medicare premium.  They will send my paperwork to read over and sign.  I pray they will since I am already paying a monthly fee for the oxygen and I am sure there will be a monthly fee for the CPap too.  I need a break somewhere.  Thankfully, I think I only have to pay $50 out of pocket for the CT Scan.  Still have not seen any bills for the Sleep Study.

I wonder where our annnieM has gotten off to?  I wish we would hear something on Mary Ann.  This is torture not knowing.

Dorothy, I hope that Mike's ankle gets better quickly.  Were your lilacs planted?  I hope that cart helps with the pot planting.  Otherwise I am sure that Marcela would help you out.

Tomorrow I am tackling mom's checkbook again.  I am close, but just do not know why I cannot get it to balance.  Though I am only a couple dollars off.  I found the big mistake.  One check was deducted twice.  So we are not off all that much.  I swear I will balance it yet.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Hugs,

Good Morning, my Pretties.
It's Dandelion Season and looks to be another beautiful sunshiney day.  We didn't hear from the Lilac Guy yesterday so we'll call him today.  Of course storms are predicted for tomorrow and Thursday, so that gives them more excuses.  I don't know why everything has to be such a struggle and no one can just do their job.

We did buy some petunias yesterday.  We spent about a third of what we'd spent the previous year, so I hope they are still good plants.  We plan to try to get them planted this morning.

This is the cart I was telling you about.  We left it in the house last night and the cats think it is their play toy!

We had the front flap laid flat, but he kept trying to get under it.

I also got my defibrillator reading done remotely and send it in this morning.   It's wonderful to be able to do that part of the time rather than having to go into the office each time.

Mike's ankle was better last night, but he was limping this morning.  Hopefully it will be better once his pills kick in.

Lou Ann, have you had a CPAP mask before?  I don't want to be negative but they look so uncomfortable.  Hopefully looks are deceiving and it won't make it harder for you to sleep.

So, what's the advantage of attaching your oxygen to the CPAP and having it delete the oxygen?  Oops, I read that wrong.  It dilutes, not deletes. Boy,nothing is ever easy!  It sounds like your interview with the State went well at least.

Ah, and you have the check book balancing act to look forward to.  The fun never ends ~ lol.  I got the budget book updated and balanced and the check books balanced finally.  I get later every month.  I'm moving in slow motion!

I do hope annnieM finds her way back to us. It's always so good to hear from her.  Like you, it's driving me crazy wondering what Mary Ann's situation is and not having a clue how to find out.

Well, this is going to be a busy day so I'd better get started with it.

Have a Tremendous Tuesday!

Cloudy day but all the rain missed us and it did get up over 70.
I did not feel well last night and got up feeling a bit punky today so just kept it low key all day.  Talked with the Agnesian Shop and they got the info to qualify me through medicare for the CPap.  Yes, Dorothy, I have had a CPap before and I hated it.  They tell me there are many new styles that are supposed to be more comfortable now.  I am praying that is true.  I hope I can sleep.  It can take a while sometimes for all the paperwork to go through.

I hope you got your petunias potted and in place.  Poor Mike...is it arthritis? Shogun looks like he is enjoying his time in the cart, lol.  I love it.
Because I was not up to par, I did not do the checkbook.  I think I am avoiding it, lol.  Tomorrow I will do it, do or die.
I need to start cleaning out my bedroom it has become a disaster zone.  I am going to purge.  I will give things to the church for their summer rummage sale.  Our church is going broke...so every little bit helps.  We have an aging congregation and less and less young people and children.  Something needs to change.
Sharing a pic before I go.

RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/21/2014 9:05 AM)

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day

It's official.  Fresh air can not be good for a person or it wouldn't leave said person so completely wiped out.  Also, this 'toiling in the soil' people rhapsodize about ~ I don't get the attraction.  Translation:  I planted the four pots with a total of 72 petunias  in the fresh air yesterday morning.

Mike went out with the cart to start moving the pots and Bill (HOA guy) came along and just picked each pot up and moved it for Mike without bothering with the cart.  I think Bill is a year or so older than I am but he and his wife are out puttering through the entire neighborhood all the time.   I remember how strong Mike used to be and how easy this would have been for him, and I remember how much I used to do and it just makes me sad.  Still, it is what it is, and thank God for folks like Bill, even if we do hate to need help.

So then I planted each pot with half a dozen red petunias, half a dozen pink and half a dozen purple ~~~ except that I screwed the last two up BIG time.  I'm so upset with myself!  When I was planting the last one, I realized I only had red and purple, which meant I'd planted the previous one with only pink and purple.  The flowers are not in bloom, so I couldn't fix my mistake.  I don't know how I did something so stupid, and I'm really disgusted with myself.  But for that I would be a happy camper today.

Then ~ wonder of wonders ~The Lilac Guy came and installed the lilacs and mock orange!  It's all done!

Big surprise ~ the original "landscapers" (a.k.a the Lilac Killers) left the drip line in less than great condition and he had to do a lot of work to fix things, but he did and did it all well.  Finally ~ someone who really cares about the work they are doing!

The Bloomerangs are much smaller than the remaining Miss Kim Dwarf Lilac, but there is one on either side of Miss Kim, so I think it will look fine, and in time look better.   He brought two Mock Orange plants for us t choose from (Choose?  Aaiiee!).   One was compact and very nice looking but it was fresh from the green house.  The other was tall and not as lovely, but it had grown through a winter so would be a hardier plant, so we chose that one.   He said it should still bloom this year, which I hadn't expected.   I can't wait for that heavenly smell.

The Lilac guy moved the pots back to the wall for us, so we didn't need the cart at all.

Ok, too much detail?  I'll hush then ~ for now.    Between the time I finished planting and when the Lilac Guy came, I sat out on the porch with a glass of tea.  It was cool and lovely with a slight breeze and all of the neighbor's wind chimes were chiming.   ahhh ~ Now I remember why we loved having our coffee outside in the mornings.

smiley2

Lovely picture, Lou Ann.  I hope you're feeling better today.

RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/21/2014 10:21 PM)

We did it. We got the checkbook to balance to the penny. Yay!!! I printed out some checkbook register pages and rewrote the checkbook since the last balance. Then we did the whole balance thing and mom and I each did the calculations and made sure we agreed each step. I did reorder some of the checks so that they were in correct order as mom has a tendency to write a bunch of checks but then not list the numbers and they get all messed up. Also fixed a couple of errors so that there were no adjustments at the end.  It worked out perfectly.  Wow, that was a mess. Then I went on to do mine and I am off 16 cents. I know it is just a silly error in subtraction or something but I was hurting way too much to pursue it. I will get it fixed tomorrow. My back and neck were killing me. It was beautiful here today. Went out on the porch for about an hour but my O2 does not reach as far as the swing. So I sat in the rocker buy was too uncomfortable. So went in sooner than I has intended. I would have took my portable out but I did not have it charged...my own fault.

Your yard looks wonderful and it is just amazing that someone shows up to help just when you need it. So nice of others to help out. You and I both know that we would do it if we were able. I helped in many a neighbors project over the years so it is nice that people help each other out. It is the way it should be. As far as the color snafu, I bet it is all God's plan. It will probably look great and it will be God's lesson to you that things do not have to be balanced ot perfect.  I cannot wait to see them in bloom. I was telling mom I would like to plant some moss roses and zinnia's, 2 of my favorite flowers.

Do you recall where in California Mary Ann lived. I was doing a search and am not sure I found her or not. I wonder what has happened to our annnieM?  Hope she is ok and that she just has not had time to check in. Chat with you tomorrow.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MAY
(Date Posted:05/22/2014 9:09 AM)

Good Morning all.

I don't think I'm going to have to worry about watering the new plants for a while.  It rained hard last night and there are storms predicted every afternoon until Monday!   Areas around us were really hit with some bad weather ~ hail, tornado watch and very strong winds, etc.  Ours was just several not long-lasting hard rains.  I hope it stays that way for us.

I slept until a quarter of seven this morning (!) and completely forgot about the trash and recycling.  Fortunately Mike was on top of things and got everything to the curb for us.

My Track Ball Mouse is on the fritz.  It moves slower than I do.  I played with it and Mike played with it trying to get it to work, but we couldn't so we ordered a new one and it should be here today.  I can NOT wait!   This slow crawl across the page is driving me batty.   It takes me two hours longer than forever to do anything online!

Need to get a blood test today.  I swear it seems like I just did that.   I shouldn't complain.  At least I don't have to go to the Lab, but it does seem like they are only days apart instead of two weeks.  I guess time flies. Ha.

Lou Ann I had to laugh at your getting your Mom's check book balanced ~ I know that's always the problem area ~ and then being off  16 cents in your own.  Believe me, I'm laughing WITH you, cuz I've so often been there/done that!  I know you'll find it quickly when you are rested.

I love your thought that my screw up was God's plan to let me know that I didn't have to be in charge and everything didn't have to be "perfect".

I have been meaning to go through my old emails to see if I had any more information on Mary Ann but I just hadn't done it yet.  So with your question I did finally go digging and guess what I found?!  An email Mary Ann sent me from her friend Ann's email address!   I will write to Ann and see if she still has that address (and if I don't go to her Spam) and if she can tell me anything about Mary Ann!   Fingers crossed!

I must close.  This Snail Mouse is driving me up the wall.   Have a wonderful day.

OH DOROTHY, I AM CROSSING MY FINGERS THAT THE EMAIL ADDY IS

VALID AND THAT ANN GETS BACK TO US ON MARY ANN.  IT WOULD BE

SUCH A BLESSING.  IT REALLY IS BOTHERING ME AND ALWAYS IN THE

BACK OF MY MIND.  I WOULD HOPE MY FRIENDS WOULD WORRY ABOUT

ME IF I DISAPPEARED.  THE ONLY THING I COULD FIND WAS 2 EMAIL

ADDRESSES FOR HER.  I MAY HAVE FOUND HER PHONE AND ADDRESS BUT

NOT SURE IT IS HER.  IT IS IN ANDERSON CALIFORNIA.  IT LISTED A

ROYAS A RELATIVE BUT IT LISTED HIM FOR THE SAME ADDRESS, SO

NOT SURE IF ROYS WIFE IS MARY ANN OR NOT.  I WAS TEMPTED TO

CALL IT.  WILL SEE IF WE GET A RESPONSE FROM ANN.

WELL YOU KNOW THE PHRASE "THE EARTH LAUGHS IN FLOWERS",

WELL THE EARTH IS LAUGHING AT YOU RIGHT NOW.  HEE HEE.

FINALLY DID A NEW CHALLENGE TODAY.  IT WAS TO CREATE A TAG

THAT WAS A POSTCARD.  SO MADE YOU AND ANNNIEM ONE.  YOU

DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT IF YOU DO NOT WANT IT.

HUGS,
