Good Morning!    Spring has Sprung ~~ at least until tomorrow, when it's gonna snow.   67 degrees yesterday, 40s today and snow tomorrow.   Ah, Springtime in the Rockies.

As I had feared, I felt like 40 miles of bad road all day yesterday, so I didn't get anything done.  I was more than glad that I had dinner made and only had to heat and eat.

This evening we are going to the Bonefish for Fish and Chips.  That special is still on, and tomorrow snow is predicted so it will be a good day to stay inside and maybe even get some work done.  Maybe. smiley63

On a happy note, our over large Tax Refund was deposited to our bank account today.   I love being able to file electronically!  We even paid our State tax owed ($71) on line, so now we're done with the IRS for another year ~ unless it feels compelled to come after us for being Conservatives.   Seriously, whether you are Liberal or Conservative, doesn't that just make you furious?  You'd think we woke up in the old USSR this year.

But for now, we have money in the bank and Irish stew in the pot and life is good.

smiley13

Aw, Lou Ann, I feel your pain!  That's such a serious pain in the tush.   Hopefully everything will go well for the rest of the weekend.

Have a Fabulous Friday.

Here I am, back to try again.  It better not happen, or
I will not be a happy camper.  Not that I am anyway.  I am not in a good mood and do not know why.  But I will get over it.
It was mid 40's today, but headed into the 20's by Sunday.
But it is Spring.  Yee Haw!
I do not file taxes as I do not pay any in and do not make enough to bother with.  I miss getting my refund each year.  It was always a bonus!
I am watching The Glass Slipper with Leslie Caron/  I saw it many many years ago.  When I read it, I thought I had not seen it before but as it goes I do remember parts of it.  Typical musical from that time period...not making any real sense.  Still I like it.
Today is Finn's 2nd birthday.

They are home from their trip.  I hope to get to see him soon and ask him about his trip.
We had homemade vegetable soup for  supper.  With a side of toast, lol.  I am stuffed.  I am not with the program here.  Depression is rearing it's ugly head and I need to deal with it.  I hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs,

Good Morning!
I really could use a Winter tag and border this morning, but I refuse!   It's 28 degrees right now, heading for a "High" of 39, and with a good possibility of snow.

We went to the Bonefish last night for their delicious Fish and Chips special.  Nice.  Then home to watch a little TV.  The only thing on that we wanted to watch was Grimm, and it was really good.   Then back to Netflix and the Murdoch Mysteries.   We lead such exciting lives.

Last night for the Irish Stew tonight and then I'm thinking meatloaf for tomorrow.  Notice a pattern?  I never make anything that won't last for three days.  LOL.

Awww, look at that adorable Finn!  Happy Birthday Big Guy!

Our little Vince just turned three months old and he's getting cuter by the minute ~ all smiles.   Miss Lucy is now 10 months old and just took her first steps!  Jack will be 2 in June.  Time is flying.

Oooh, homemade Vegetable Soup ~ how good does THAT sound?!  Yum!

Hello Cuppa's
Dorothy, I know what you are talking about.  It did get up to 36 today but tomorrows high is supposed to be 23.  Time will tell.  It is also calling for light snow Mon night into Tue.  Arrgghh!
Your fish and chips sound wonderful and makes me want some. Too funny, I was just thinking it was time for meatloaf.  I get several meals from it since mom eats it only the first night and the rest goes to me :)  We finally had our Corned Beef and Cabbage (AKA boiled dinner)  I really enjoyed it.  Mom did not.  She complained the there was not a seasoning pack with the beef as there usually is....then because she could not fit every thing in at once she removed the beef and found a section of it was flapped over and in that was the seasoning pack..in plastic.  So she followed their directions and put all se could back in.  I thought it was good though the seasoning was on the light side.  Mom just thinks her tastebuds are off or she blamed it on the way they made her do it which was not the norm.  Next year she said she will do it how she thinks it should be done.  Sadly, I think that the problem is that she forgets things and cannot remember what she has done.  Once in a while it is scary what she forgets.  Last week she made me spaghetti and I took one bite and asked her what she made the sauce out of?  Tomato soup!  What?  She has never made it with tomato soup.  She buys premade and she used to make it from scratch with tomatoes from the garden which we have tons of frozen.  It really was not good, no garlic no seasoning.  Tomato soup on pasta.  Sucks to grow old.  But since I do not cook, I cannot complain.
Today I was busy doing challenges.  So I have 2 new tags for you.  One today and one tomorrow.
Hugs,

And a Cheery Good Morning to you all.

It snowed off and on all day yesterday, though nothing "stuck".

We're heading for the mid 50s today.

We really didn't do much yesterday. I did FINALLY get the infamous Budget Book done ~ about time!

 What did You do?

smiley25

Lou Ann, you really are spoiling me, and I love it!  Thank you so much for the beautiful new tag!!

I'm sorry your corned beef didn't turn out well.  We've had it a couple of times when it turned out too dry for some reason, but when it's good, it's very, very good.  We don't have it that often, so it's doubly disappointing when it isn't good.

Hmmm. Spaghetti with tomato soup.  Interesting.  I guess it could work in a pinch, with a lot of seasonings.   We always buy prepared spaghetti sauce rather than making it from scratch.  My cousin's husband used to make big batches of it from scratch and put them up.  It really was delicious.

The older I get, the easier I want cooking to be.  When I was young I wanted to make extraordinary things and experiment.  So did Mike.  Now, I just want it easy ~ but still good.  Mike still gets the bug to be creative sometimes, but more and more I think he's heading in my ez-pz direction.

Thanks again for the beautiful tag!

Have yourself a lovely little day. smiley43

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/23/2014 8:36 PM)

Hello Dorothy
I basically am with you on the EZ PZ.  Louann and Bruce will team cook when we go over and often have made very involved meals for us and they are always wonderful.  I wish I could do that but people just do not realize how hard it is to stand and walk around to work in the kitchen.  I know you do.  I just cannot do it.  I try to gather everything I need on put it all on the table where I can sit and work.  Moms back kills her too, but she refuses to sit.  I sit on a stool to cook or to do dishes and she will not, even though her back hurts so it is her own fault.  I know I sound harsh but she just will not listen to me.
I had a wonderful treat this morning.  Suz called me last night and asked if I would like a Potato Pancake breakfast from the Eagles for Sun.  Oh Yeah!!!  She did not bring it until about 10:30, but I dug right in since I was waiting for it.  2 large pancakes and 3 sausages.  It was good, really good.  I think it is funny as the bottom pancake was burned on one side (still good).  But I am pretty sure I got the same last year so I think they must make a point of putting burned pancakes on the bottom of too go breakfasts, lol.  If it had been inedible, then I would have complained...but what good will that do.  So I skipped lunch since I really had brunch.  Mom made fried SPAM for supper...now I think SPAM is one of the most disgusting things on this earth with all the slimy stuff it is canned in.  But I love fried spam. go figure.  I am sure it is deadly and she does not get it often.  A fried spam sandwich is delicious.
Nothing else going on.  Going to get off early tonight and maybe get to sleep early tonight.  I want to be in bed by 1 am instead of 2-3.  So I need to wind down sooner.
Have a wonderful Monday.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/24/2014 1:16 PM)

Hello

So here I am, better late than never??    Instead of having coffee an getting on the PC first thing, I took my shower first this morning.  Then I joined Mike in the Great Room and took my pills and had coffee and then Mike had made some (Williams Sonoma) breakfast rolls so we had breakfast.  Then I started to get online, but I couldn't keep my eyes open!  Shower, pills, coffee, full tummy and I'm sunk.    I decide to give into it and close my eyes for a while ~ and then the doorbell rang.

Our builder,Dave, is no longer building homes, but concentrating on his Waste Management business.  His partner, Matt, left late last year to work for AG Edwards but decided he didn't like that so he is back in the building and remodeling business.   He wanted to take a picture of our Library to show prospective clients.  Given the fights that he and I had over that library, I'm surprised ~ ha!

Still, fortuitous timing because we are thinking of replacing our very old washer and dryer with new front loading ones, and if we do I THINK we want the pedestal drawer for them to sit on so I don't have to reach way back and practically on the floor to get clothes out.  The drawer would make them too tall for the existing cabinets.  We'd need to raise the cabinets 15 inches or so and were wondering who could do it for us.   Enter Matt.

We still need to go and look at them in the store to see if we like the ones we think we want, and if we want the granite color or white.  Then if we decide to get them and add the pedestal drawer, we can call Matt to move the cabinets for us.  Much better to do all this now than to wait until the old ones stop working and we are under the gun.

So, now I'm way behind and trying to catch up. I did get a load of laundry into the wash, but other than our talking (and talking and talking) about whether or not to buy the new appliances and which ones, not much more.

Do you watch The Good Wife?  Did you watch last night?   I'm still in shock!  Have Mercy!  I sure didn't see that coming!

Tonight Bones, then The Following (maybe) and Castle.  I hope they don't have any shocks in store for me!  My friend Faye says DWTS is great this year and we should all watch.  Mike and I haven't watched for the last few years.  Maybe if we decide to skip The Following (often too mean spirited), we could watch a bit of it.

smiley25
Lou Ann, another gorgeous tag and border!  Thank you!  Thank you so much!!

Oh, you know I do understand not being able to cook an do so many things you used to do.  I suspect anyone watching me cook would have a fit of giggles.  I do a modified Rachael Ray, setting up a bowl with water for rinsing veggies or eggs or whatever and paper towels for drying, another bowl for scraps and yet another recipticle for whatever it is I'm preparing.  When everything is ready ~ and only then ~ I get up and put things on the stove or in the oven or the crockpot.  Hey, whatever works, right?   Thank goodness Mike and your mom still cook!

Oooh, lovely ~ breakfast delivery!  I haven't had potato pancakes in SO long.  Yum!

I know what Mike's reaction to Spam would be ~~ Yuk!  LOL.  I, on the other hand, have very fond memories of fried spam sandwiches we used to have when I was a kid. With Miracle Whip. I loved 'em.

I hope your 'trick' of winding down before bedtime worked.  Last night I slept well, but I've had so many bad nights lately and then I feel so cruddy all the next day.  I hate it!

Have you heard anything from Aimoo about taking over the group?  I hope they make it so!

Have a happy day.

smiley25

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/24/2014 9:34 PM)

Hello Dorothy
Well, getting off early worked a bit. But then I went on the iPad and was playing Mahjong and I get addicted when playing and I cannot stop, lol  Bedtime ended up being 1:30am.  Oh well.
My sisters love their from loaders.  I like what you want done.  That would be ideal for us.
I do not watch the good wife but it was all the rage on The View and the Talk today...everyone was so shocked.  I do watch Dancing with the Stars and there are some really good dancers in the group.   2 were eliminated tonight...Diane Nyad, the woman who swam to Cuba and James Maslow from Big Time Rush (never heard of) lol.  Those that I think are good are Merle Davis and Charlie White, the Gold Medal Ice Dancers from the Olympics, Candace Cameron Bure (DJ from Full House) and Danica McKellar (Winnie from The Wonder Years).  Billie De Williams is bad, lol.  He is too old for it.  NeNe Leakes sucks too.  Drew Carey is not good either.  The rest fit in between.  The have added new dances which is cool.  Last year they added Swing and Bollywood and Contemporary.  They are going to be doing something new that involves switching partners.  We will see how that goes.
I have not heard any more from annnieM about it. She said she tried the link with instructions you sent and it did not work.  She said she would try when she was on her computer.  But as far as I can tell, nothing has changed.  I hate to write her again as it will seem that is all I care about and not her.  I do not want her thinking that as it is certainly not true.  But would look that way.
Wish she would stop in.  But it never does any good asking her or Mary Ann anything as they do not come back the next day and read what we have asked.  I find that sad.
I will have to clean the bathroom tomorrow and do a bit of picking up and also wrap a present.  I may not make it on tomorrow night.  We will see, I will try.
  Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/25/2014 9:15 AM)

Hello!

What??  Another lovely tag for ME?  Every day is like a treasure hunt.  I love all of my wonderful surprises.  Thank you!!!

I'm glad I haven't gotten addicted to online games!  I'm so slow, just checking in with groups and reading news takes way more of my day than I should allow it too.

We had a full night of TV viewing last night.  Bones and then we did watch The Following, but I think we're going to stop watching that one.  It's well done, but so mean spirited.  Then we watched Castle, so we didn't watch DWTS again.   I may watch it on OnDemand just to let Faye know I did check it out.  She says that Derek usually gets the partner with the best chance to win, but this year Max has the better partner.  It would be fun to see him win.

I hate that annnieM isn't able to easily come back and visit with us.  Seeing her would be much more important to all of us than having someone who is actually here own the group and be able to more easily do updates.   I thought maybe Aimoo had contacted you since you did contact them and ask and they later posted about doing just that.

It's a sunny Tuesday and we're heading for 57 degrees today.  I'll take it.   The landscaping service sprayed the pine and ash trees and trimmed the Pampas grass and maybe some other bushes in the community.  They did not trim our Potentilla bushes, which really should be trimmed own almost to the ground, but it appears that Spring is springing around Meadow Ridge.

We need to call an see about having our poor dead lilac bushes replaced and adding a Mock Orange.  I suspect the sooner the better so they can take root well, but of course you don't want them planted while there is still frost in the ground.   I'm sure the Garden Company will tell us when it's time ~ and when they have some nice bushes in.

So much sad news now.  The Malaysian plane and whether or not you can trust what their government said.  Those poor families!  Then the land slide in Washington which now has over 100 missing and at least 8 dead and of course all the homes lost.  Heartbreaking ~ I can't even imagine what those folks are going through.

Right now 'as we speak' the Hobby Lobby case is being heard by the Supreme Court.

Well, that's enough seriousness for one day!  I need to get another load of laundry done this morning and make meatloaf this afternoon.  We ended up calling out for Chinese on Sunday but it's all gone now.

Sending thoughts of a Happy Day to all of the Sisters of my Heart.

Hello, and how are you all this fine morning?
We're supposedly heading for the mid 6o's today (!).  Mike is going to call and see about getting those replacement plants put in, and maybe about having a walkway put in where the decorative rock is so that we could actually walk to the water connection and then on to the sprinkler system.  Others set up the sprinkler system schedule, but if something goes wrong or we want to change their schedule, we need to be able to access the controls without breaking our necks.  Whether or not anything is possible, I don't know, but at least we can ask.

I did do some laundry yesterday and still have a basket of towels to fold today, and I did make a meatloaf which turned out pretty good.  I didn't accomplish much more ~~ big surprise.  smiley63

Lou Ann you mentioned cleaning and wrapping a gift, and it sounded like you were going to be entertaining today, but I think I missed who and why.   Hope you had a great time, whatever the occasion was.

Have a great day.

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/27/2014 9:22 AM)

Good Morning.
Yesterday was a mixed bag of accomplishments for us.  I did get the laundry folded and put away and the trash and recycle bins taken to the curb.  I need to bring them back in now.

Mike discovered that the Garden Center we talked to last Fall was no longer providing the same planting services, so he called another company and we've made arrangements for the three lilac bushes the folks who installed the retaining wall last year killed to be replaced with 'Bloomerangs' (reblooming dwarf lilacs) and a Mock Orange to be planted the last week in April or the first week in May. Finally!

Then he called around and found that no one has the granite colored front load washer and drier we wanted to look at.  They all have the white ones only on the floor, and not even the size we were looking at.  Since we have the dimensions and we know what white looks like, there's no reason for us to go and look today as we had planned.  I'm still not sure what to do.  We'd kind of like the granite colored ones, but ordering them sight unseen seems dangerous.  Soooo, today freed up for us, though I rather wish it hadn't.  It would be good to have a decision made and get started moving the cabinets if we need to.

The other thing we would like done is a walkway from across the front of the house and back around to the sprinkler system controls on the side of the house so we could get there without risking life and limb.  We'll need a landscaping company to tell us IF it can be done, and then we will have to go begging the HOA to allow us to do it.  I believe we have a bit of pressure on our side in approaching the dispensers of good taste for the neighborhood when we add the words 'Handicapped Accessible' to our petition, but we'll still have to go begging IF the Landscaping Company comes up with something that WE think will look good and work for us.  Nothing is easy. So, that's our world, and welcome to it.    One more night of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and mini corn on the cob tonight and then the lovely leftovers are gone.

Waving to Lou Ann and our other sisters.  Hope you are all having a Terrific Thursday!

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/27/2014 2:01 PM)

Where the hell have I been?  Don't ask me, cause I don't know.
I thought I missed 1 night.  Jeepers, I think I am getting Alzheimer's.  Lord help me.
Yes, Dorothy, we had the ladies over to celebrate Carol's birthday.  Carol and Gloria are nurses that I used to work with.  Gloria retired before I left due to health issues and Carol left after I did to work at the hospital.  She retires in June.  We try to get together once a month for supper and love and laughter.  We were all long terms employees of the place.  They are about 10 yrs old then me but get around great.  We had a great time.  We are A&W and had Blueberry Torte for dessert.
I will try again writing to the admin and asking her about taking over the group.  I do not want us considered abandoned.  I will tell her that annnieM tried to make me the owner but was unable to.
It is sad news about the plane and the mudslide.  You would think that  people would not build in area's like that.  Even when they were warned over 10 years ago that that area was not stable.  I do not know what the Hobby Lobby case is?
Yummmm, Chinese.  We are considering Chinese for Easter!!  Joanne and her family are going by her inlaws as Dave's dad is just not doing well and Suz family is going to her mil.  She said she would rather eat bad food hot than reheated, lol.  So it will just be Diane, mom and I.  Di said she is more than willing to cook a ham dinner for us and we could come to her house or she would cook it here, or we could just do Chinese.  Not I love Easter dinner, but we could cook it any time.  I am voting for Chinese so that there are no dishes and work for any of us.  We could enjoy the meal and then watch Easter Parade or something like that.
I hope you can get your sprinkler controls fixed in a way that makes it easier for you to use.  With the washer and dryer are you afraid they are not true to color in the pics you have seen?  It is a shame that no one locally has that color in so that you could see them in person.  You would think they would.
I love the name of your dwarf lilacs....bloomerangs!!  LOL  Where are you having the Mock Orange planted?  Adding the walk way is a great idea and as long as you and the landscaper come up with something useable and tasteful, then they should not object.  Especially if you play the handicap card :)
We had snow overnight Tuesday..a couple inches, but today it is raining and getting rid of the snow that is left.  We are on the side of the street that melts first and gets green grass first.  Gotta love that.  Yesterday I had to have the home O2 people come as my concentrator had a gold light on that would not go off.  In the past I would turn it off and back on it would go away.  Not this time.  So he brought me a different one and took the other for repair.  15 or so min after he left the yellow light came on and turning it on and off did not work.  So I called again.  He called me back and said it may be that the machine is cold from being in the van and may need to warm up.  Try turning it off and on and if it comes on try that again.  We did it 4 or 5 times and it kept coming back on within 15 min.  So I called him back.  He ended up going and getting another concentrator for me and switched them out and stayed around for 15 min to make sure it stayed off.  He apologized for it and I said it was not his fault and he had been more than nice.  This one is working fine now.  He also set the ball rolling to get me the small portable tank that you carry in a bag for when I go out.  If they find that I can use it.  We will see.  First they had to contact my doctor, I laughed and said he probably did not even know that I was on oxygen since I have not seen him since being in the hospital and coming home on oxygen.  So we will see.
Well, I think I am all caught up now.  So have a great Friday.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/27/2014 3:06 PM)

The washer/drier is on a 25% off sale, but only through Monday.   What to do?  What to do?

The online pictures of the Granite version seem slightly different in color.  These are supposedly photos, but you all know photos often show anything but the true color too.  aarrgghh.

Anyway, this is the floor, wall and woodwork in our Laundry Room, with a picture of the washer superimposed.   The floor is mostly shades of tan with a little gray modeled in.  The walls are a sort of tan color and the woodwork is white.

Current washer and dryer are white, and I know white would work for the new ones and look bright and fine.   We just are kind of drawn to the granite.

The pictures of the flooring are pretty accurate, but I don't know how close the washer and pull out drawer are.

Washer ~ obviously the proportions are wrong.  It will sit on a 15.5 inch high pedestal drawer.  As you an see, the color looks different.

This is the way things are today. The new ones, on the pedastals would come up slightly past the bottoms of the cabinets, so they will have to be moved up.

Welcome home, Lou Ann.    I'll be back.

Dorothy

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/28/2014 8:06 AM)

It's Friday.  We've made it through another week!

Lou Ann, Thank you for yet another beautiful tag!!

I think the news about the Mudslide is only going to get worse.  Horrible stories coming out of Washington.

We've been having things like Prime Rib for Easter for the last several years, but this year Mike wants to go back to tradition.   He wants (and therefore we will have) ham, scalloped potatoes, creamed peas & onions, and Hot cross buns for breakfast!   (Who is he, and what has he done with Mike?  LOL)  Actually, sounds pretty good to me, too, except that he even wants to put pineapple slices and cloves on the ham.  I think that's going a bit too far back.  ha!

I'm glad you got your concentrator fixed, and I'll have my fingers crossed that you can get a portable one so you can go outside and play, too.

As you can tell, we spent a lot of time yesterday thinking about whether or not to get the Energy Efficient washer/dryer and if so, what color.   I'm invited to a Norwex (Norwegian Cleaning Products) party tomorrow afternoon, so we spent a bit of time going through the catalog to see what we might want.  Our neighbor Lisa is a dealer and our other neighbor, Sue, is having the party at her house, which is across the street and two houses down.  I'm already sort of worrying about walking there ~ LOL.  Mike offered to drive me, but I think that would be TOO embarrassing.  ha!

So, shopping on our minds.  I did update the infamous Budget Book AGAIN, this time adding the purchases on our two joint credit cards in, so when I do the budget next month it should be a breeze.

Pretty day today, mid 50s.  I have to do my blood test this morning ~ lets hope I don't forget it.  I've been known to do that.

It IS "Fish Day" so we're going to the Bonefish for fish and chips tonight.

Have a Fabulous Friday!

Dorothy

Please delete the tag you got yesterday.

The one about Living your life in Colour.

I put the wrong artist on it :(

I have replaced them in the post with the

correct artist so you can snag it again there.

I wrote that is was Amy Brown and it was not

it was Molly Harrison.  I am an idiot!

Will be back later.

Hugs,  Lou Ann

PS...if those colors are close, I do not like the granite

ones in your laundry, I would stay with the white.
