RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/06/2014 8:53 AM)

And here we have another fine example of the fact that Colorado weather is INSANE!   It's going to be 67 degrees today ~ but we're expecting snow tomorrow night.    Now I remember why, when I came here on vacation, I carried the biggest suitcase I owned for a week long stay.  You had to have a complete Winter AND Summer wardrobe with you because you never knew if heavy sweaters or sleeveless blouses would be what you would need.

Mike did call Comcast yesterday.   Usually they have special deals they offer for six months or some time frame, but the deals aren't as good as those you get when you actually go into the office.   Well, yesterday she didn't offer anything to lower the rates, but for $7 more we could have almost all the regular channels they offer (close to doubling the number we now have) and 3 Premium channels for a year.    That would be good if we were sure we couldn't get the rate down ~ more channels for about the same money, BUT I'd rather have the money, thank you very much.   The last time they gave us HBO and Showtime for six months, and I don't think I've watched 4 movies on them.  We watch a lot more on Netflix or Roku.  As for the additional 80 or so channels, I doubt there is anything we would watch there either, or at least not much.  We'd just spend more time clicking through all the channels at first, and then just bypass them as we do most of them now anyway.   Having 'The Fishing Channel' on two stations instead of just one, is still just two more things for me to ignore.  lol

ANyWAy . . . Mike is going to go into the office tomorrow to see if they will offer a lower rate ~~ for another six months before we have to do it again.  GRRRRRRR.   The woman he talked to said they would be having more deals within the next few weeks, so maybe we won't be able to get any relief now.  It's really irritating because when we switched we were told that the rates would go up in  six months, but not more than $20.  Instead it was $62!   I guess we got a REALLY good deal for the last six months ~~ but I want it again (and again, and again)!

Have a terriffic Thursday!

Good Morning!  It's Friday.  Welcome to the Weekend.

Yesterday it was 67 here.  Right now we are at our 'High' for the day, 45 degrees, but it's all downhill from here, heading for freezing and below, and very probably snow.

Mike is still planning to visit the Comcast Office this morning unless it starts to snow earlier in the day, but we may have to curtail our plans to go out to dinner tonight. They are saying 6-12 inches through tomorrow morning, with ice and hazardous driving conditions.  Such fun.

Have a happy weekend!

It's been snowing for over an hour.   I don't think we'll be going anywhere today.   Really coming down, that big wet stuff.  Last time it was that little fine dry stuff.   I'm almost always glad I'm retired, but some days, like today, I'm sooooooo glad.   lol

What the hell happened to me.  Where have I been.  I have no recall of missing days here.  But it seems I have.  I am sorry.

I think that cable is the biggest rip off there is. It is getting to be that you have to be well off to watch TV.  So frustrating. I hope they give Mike a great deal for all his effort.

My nephew Jordan went to court today but it turned out to be just the part where he pleads and a trial was ordered.  Already things do not look good. His public defender said she is going to try and get a different judge as she said the one they got is tough on this type of thing. Jeeze....I just want it all done with.

I went for my INR today and it was 2.7 so that is decent and I am taking the 3mg daily that I have been on for years. Everytime they mess with my meds then they mess with my warfarin dosage and screw me up.  I have to go back in 2 weeks. I see the Dr.  Monday and if they change my meds again it will all start over.  ARGGHHH.

Bank statements came today so I know what I will be doing in the morning.  Since I just did mine, it should be fine...it is moms I worry about, lol  But I do love a challenge.

I did write annnieM.  We will see if she responds.  I am tired so off to bed I go.

Sweet Dreams.

Hugs,

Top O' the Mornin ~ well, actually now it's the afternoon.

Late start because this morning I was visiting with my youngest great-great nephew Vince.  I suspect the only way I'm going to be able to visit with any of my great-greats is virtually, so I'll take it and smile.   Aaron had arranged for us to get together on Facetime, but Colby the Doby wanted to visit, too, so I had a nice chat with the three of them.  Vince is up to 12 lbs and really looks big and of course is the cutest little guy you ever saw.   He and Aaron had run errands this morning and he was good.  By the time we Facetimed, Aaron was feeding him.   I don't want to gross you out, but he spit up a little and Coby came over and washed his face.  LOL   I should probably be grossed out, but I thought it was the cutest thing ever, that big ole dog coming over and cleaning up the baby.

Anyway, Vince is precious, Colby with Vince is adorable, and I tend to be so proud of Aaron I could bust my buttons even though I can claim no part in creating the fine man he has become.

Earlier Mary Ann (grandma) had shared or liked a beautiful picture of Christina and Vince on Facebook, but there was no place for me to like or comment.   Apparently Christina posts them on Instagram.     It sounds like I need an Instagram account ~~ but I still haven't figgered out my iPhone!  lol

It snowed all day yesterday, but because it had been so warm the day before, very little stuck to the pavement, and what did is melting now in the bright sunlight.  Because it was coming down steadily and weather reports were that it was icy and there were driving advisories, we didn't get out at all.

We're going to go for groceries this afternoon (even though it is Saturday).   I'm making a roast tomorrow, and then we'll start our St Patrick's Week meals so we need some veggies.

Thank you so much for the GORGEOUS new tag!   I love it!   You are too good to us all ~~ but don't stop. smiley60  Thank you ~ Thank you!

Do you have an Instagram account?   Is it hard to set up and use?  I seem to being forced into the 21st century and I'm not sure I'm ready.  How much learning can my little brain handle??

Sending good thoughts for Jordan.  I hope the system can see through the young woman's day-after regrets and not ruin that young man's life.

Have a Happy Saturday!

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/09/2014 7:14 AM)

Good Mornin'.

Somebody tell me ~ What time is it REALLY?  My Laptop and TV automatically update the time switch, but my old clock did not.  The new one, the one that beams the time to the ceiling, operates on the Atomic Clock, so it appears to have updated itself, too.  Have I made the change without lifting a finger??  Oh, wait.  Where's my watch?  That should tell the tale.   I imagine we will need to change the time on the Microwave, and I'll bet Mike forgot to change the time on the coffee maker ~ although he's a lot sharper than me, so maybe he did it already.

I slept until nearly 6 this morning, and I was so excited about that ~~ until I realized that it was really 5.  LOL.  I'm glad the rest of the world is finally catching up with MY sleep cycles.

Crockpot roast today with carrots and potatoes.  I do love an easy to make meal that keeps on giving, don't you?

I did figure Instagram out ~ sorta.   I am following about 7 people there, including you,  and I can see the pictures they post.  There isn't any real "conversation" and I can't 'steal' pictures like I can when they post them on Facebook, but I did see some cute new-to-me pictures of all three little ones.     It took me a very long time to figure out how to install the App and set up my account.  It's apparently geared for your phones or iPads and such and the pictures you take with them.

I've seen things that my friend Barb or my niece Mary Ann have "liked" in Facebook that I couldn't also like or comment on, so I assume they came from Instagram.  How you get them to post on Facebook I'm not sure, but I did establish my account through Facebook.   I rarely have any pictures I take that are worth sharing, but I do love to share those baby pics THEY take.

Hi, Mary Ann.  Hope you're having a super day!

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/09/2014 9:37 PM)

Well another day lost, what can I say?  I swear that I cannot remember anything anymore. Maybe I should be taking something for memory enhancement. I have not felt well today, nothing I could put my finger on, just very tired and punky. So I stayed home from my sisters today. Which worked out well for me...the movie "A Few Good Men" was on and I have never seen it.  So I watched it. It was a very good movie. Boy did Tom Cruise and Demi Moore look young in it.  The movie must be older than I thought, lol.

I got a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday.  That group that I am in "CDO Diamond Group" which is a group for Diamond members of CDO where I get most of my tubes these days.  I had forgotten I won a Caron Vinson original signed watercolor painting.  It is only 5x7 but it is wonderful.  I do not know how someone can paint so small.  Here is a pic of it, I have to find a frame for it. The color in the pic is not true, it is lighter and brighter than shown.

I made it smaller but this seems to have blown it up again.  Hopefully when I post it will resize.  Otherwise I will have to edit and resize it.  We will see.

I have my follow up with Dr, Johnson tomorrow.  I am still very wheezy.  A few days after the prednisone ended it was back.  Damn!  Do not know what he will want to do about that.  I really do not want to go back on it.  I messes up my INR and blood sugars.  So we will see.

Dorothy, I forgot I had an instagram account.  I made it was I saw my nephew Jordan was posting crap from there and I wanted to see it.  But then I needed to let him know and I figured he would not want to so just forgot about it all.  Just remember that you can find out how to do just about everything on You Tube, lol.  There are just not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do.

I want to get to be early tonight and get s good sleep in hopes of feeling better tomorrow. Have a marvelous Monday my friend.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/10/2014 8:40 AM)

Hello. Welcome to Monday and the start of another week.  Is it my imagination, or is March fairly flying by?

Our temp was 70 yesterday (!) and should be in the mid 60s today ~ but not to worry, we're expecting snow and freezing temps tomorrow!    I don't buy into man made Global Warming, but ya sure can't deny "Climate Change".  lol

We watched an episode of a new-to-us British series, Miss Fisher last night and then The Good Wife (good grief, could they put more plots into one episode?) and The Mentalist.  Revenge was on at the same time as The Mentalist, so we'll watch that on OnDemand.   I'm kind of losing it for that one.   Loved it the first two seasons, but the more they bring in new characters and kill off old ones, the less I care.

We had watched A Few Good Men years and years ago and thought it was a great movie.  We watched it again for the first time in years just the other day.  Really good still.   It was fun this go around to see all the now very "mature" stars so young.   We watch Kevin Bacon in The Following, and I have to tell you, he didn't age well.   We've loved 24, and it's hard to realize that the young Kiefer Sutherland we see in the old movies is "Jack".   Ditto Tom Cruise and ~ who else?  Can't remember.   I have aged, too.  LOL    "You can't HANDLE the truth!"  Unforgettable line.

Your Caron Vinson original is awesome!   I'm sure the colors in person are brighter and more beautiful, but how wonderful to have your very own signed Caron Vinson, and such a pretty one, too!  Congratulations!!!

I really did struggle getting my Instagram account set up.  Now four people want to follow ME, and I have no pictures up for them to look at ~ lol.   I don't know how everyone gets such good pictures with their camera phones, but I sure can't!    I tried taking a "Selfie" and that was a total hoot!   Definitely something to scare the little kids with on Halloween ~ lol.  Even pictures of the cats, and they ARE beautiful, don't look good.  Either too dark or too I get "yellow eye", and the camera phone corrects red eye, but not cat's yellow eye.  Anyway, it's great to see the pictures of the kids they put up.

Thanks for reminding me about the YouTube How To videos.   I did google for How To instructions, but I never thought of YouTubes.  I'll remember that.

Good luck with your Dr Appt!

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/10/2014 10:38 PM)

. . . along with a few other things.

Today was a real Mixed Bag, mostly good.  Mike decided he wanted to go to Comcast and see if he could get our bill down today.  Well, actually, he really DIDN'T want to go, but it's supposed to snow tomorrow and we have things going on the rest of the week so he thought he SHOULD go.

I didn't even put make up on and looked like a real schlub.  Good thing I at least got dressed, cuz first Barb came over and wanted me to order something for her from Amazon Prime (no shipping charges, two day delivery).  I'm so glad to be able to do something for her because she does so much for us, but she just pops in and catches me and the house looking not ready for Prime Time.

Then right after she left and Mike got home, Sherri (across the street neighbor) popped in to tell us that her house has sold and they should close on the 31st.    Wonderful news.  She's been making double payments for six months ~ still, she "caught" me, too.   Ha.   I'm trying to get to the point where it doesn't bother me, but I'm not there yet.   Now I will be able to have full make up on everyday for the next month, and no one will come.   Just watch.

So, Comcast.   Remember when he called and they said if we paid 7.50 more we could get 80 more channels plus three Premium channels.  Not interested!   In the office, Mike told the guy that our bill just went up $62.  The guy said "And you'd like us to see what we can do to bring it down".  "Yes", said Mike.  Click, Click, Click and he said he couldn't get it as low as it was before, but it will be $15 more than before the $62 increase, and they will give us HBO and Streampix (Netflix for Comcast subscribers) for a year, instead of six months.  Sold!   Even when it was $62 more, it was still cheaper than it had been when we'd had cable from Comcast and Internet from Century Link, but this is considerably lower.  We'll take it!

Then we got the mail and there was a packet from the IRS!   I had done something wrong with the way I declared the Required Minimum Distribution from my IRAs and 401K for the first three years.  I took out enough money, but I took it all out of my 401K and you have to take part of it out of your combined IRAs and part from your 401K.   I realized what I had done and told Mike and we wrote to the IRS to get a ruling on whether I had to go back and take the required amount out of my IRAs in addition to what I had already taken from my 401K and maybe pay a penalty ~ or not.   The ruling came back tonight that we had to do nothing more.   Common Sense from the IRS ~~ who knew?    Anyway that was also a day brightener!   We decided to have a glass of Champagne in the Library to celebrate before dinner.

Speaking of dinner, last night we made a crock pot roast with carrots and potatoes, and it was really delicious.   Tonight was "heat and eat" and so will tomorrow be.     The recipe, which we hadn't made before, was to combine a package of Ranch Dressing Mix, Italian Dressing Mix and Gravy Mix and sprinkle that on top of the roast before cooking it.  We added about a cup of water and the carrots and potatoes.  Seriously Yummy!

TV left a bit to be desired tonight, but all in all, a very good day.  Wishing you the same!

Dorothy, you confused the heck out of me by posting twice on Monday.  I thought I had missed a day again. lol.
WooHoo for Comcast.  I am so happy that it worked out.  Dorothy, you need to know that your friends and neighbors do not care if you have makeup on or that your home is not perfect...they just want to see you!
The weather hit 52 today, it was beautiful but wet since everything was melting.  It made it a pleasure to go out.  Which I did, to the doctor.  And he is not happy with my progress.  He changed my inhaler and added nebulizer treatments.  He also had the nurse set me up with an appt to see Dr. Hatahet, a pulmonologist.  I used to see him years ago.
I know he will put me through all those breathing tests and a cat scan.  But maybe we can find a way for me to breath better.  Even if I hate them.  I feel like I am dying when I am doing the breathing test and laying flat for the CT scan kills me, my back hurts so bad.  But I will survive.
I do love the Caron Vinson painting.  Just wish it was not so small 5x7, it will have to hang low to be seen, lol.  I think I will matt it and then frame it to make it look bigger, lol.
annnieM did write me back today.  I will post here what she said.

Of course I will transfer ownership.  I actually went to the link you enclosed to and tried already but it didn't work.  My laptop is the only computer I have right now as my desktop wouldn't work this morning.  I will try again from here.
I am so sorry that I am not active anymore.  You definitely should be the owner.  I will try to make it so.
Im OK, but not what I used to be.  I'll try to stop in and say hi.
Love,
annnieM

I sure hope she comes in.  We need to know what all is going on is her life.  Well it is time to call it a night.  See you tomorrow.
Hugs,

Ok, I think I'm back on schedule, but what a strange day yesterday was.  First, for the third night in a row I only got a few hours of sleep, and it caught up with me.  I dressed and combed my hair, but no make up and looked about like I felt ~ giant schlub.

It snowed much of the day yesterday, but only stuck on the grassy areas ~~ just as snow is supposed to do.

Mike made corned beef hash and eggs for late breakfast and I revived a bit.  We planned to have the last night of our lovely roast and to watch Rizzoli and Isles and then a new-to-us show Mike found on HBO.  Then at 5:30 the lights went out!   We heard some police sirens (maybe somebody hit a pole?) and we lost all power.  It was still light out and warm in the house so we weren't too concerned.  An hour later Barbara came over and to ask me to order some more things for her through Amazon Prime and she asked if we wanted to go out to dinner since the power was off.  Here I sat, no make up, schlub clothes and my hair combed but not curled.  Nope, Barb, No can do.   I know she doesn't understand me at all.  That's the third invitation I've turned her down for, and it makes me feel awful to do it.  We offered to call out for Pizza or Philly Steak sandwiches, but I think she has very particular ideas on food so we let it go.  By the time she offered to go out and get Pizza and bring it back, it was dark and cold and didn't sound like a lot of fun.

On the  one hand, I feel like a terrible person when I'm not on call for anyone who wants to pop in, and on the other hand, I think I'd hate myself if I was.  Ok.  I admit it.   I'm a terrible person, and not likely to change.  Now you know the awful truth.

Sooo, meanwhile back at the Ranch, it was getting darker and colder. We decided on a nice glass of red wine and a peanut butter sandwich for me and a pimento cheese sandwich for Mike.   We got the two flashlights we have, lit the only candle we have upstairs (need to do something about that!) and I turned on the flashlight in my new cell phone, which is quite bright and read my Hardback Book, while Mike turned on some tunes in his iPad Mini and read the Louise Penny book he's been working on.   I was really grateful for the big way-too-heavy fur lap robe Mike gave me last Christmas, because I kept pretty warm and it was sort of like having a picnic.    He used my Cell to call XCell and find out that the outage only effected homes in our area and that power should be on by "9:19 PM".   It actually came back at 8:45.    We were in time to watch the second showing of Rizzoli and then went to the bedroom and watched a Midsommer Murder episode.

Today we're heading for a high in the mid-40s and sunny.  Mike is thinking of making a Costco run and depositing several checks for us.   I think I will make it a point to put on make up, since I seem to be permanently on-call.  lol     Our Trash and Recycle day is tomorrow, so we'll probably take the bins to the curb tonight so we don't have to get up so early.

So that was MY Tuesday.   How was YOURS? smiley86

smiley5

Lou Ann, thank you for the delightful tag!   I love it!!

I'm sorry you have to go through all those tests again.  They sound unpleasant.  Still, if you can get some help, maybe it will be worth it.  Not being able to breath is miserable.

I'm glad you were able to reach annnieM.  I worry about her and it's good to see her sounding cheery and like our annnieM.  I'm sure she hasn't had an easy time, but she seems to be ok, so my face is smiling.   I will love seeing her and learning what all has been going on in her life, or as much as she feels up to sharing.

Have a happy day!

Hugs.

Hello Dorothy
I am much like you.  I do not deal well with spur of the moment events....I used to be, when I was younger, but not any more.  Too much prep work and planning needs to go into it.  Monday it was gorgeous here but that passed.  Temps are back down again.  14 degrees right now.  So my guess is that it is icy out.  Josh stopped in today and begged a sandwich, lol.  It made mom feel so good to make it for him though he said he would do it.  He took out trash and recycling out and to the curb.  Then he played a CD that has some drum tracks added to his guitar tracks.  He is making an album of his own songs and doing it in studios and having a drummer.  Every thing being done separate and then will be mixed.  He is working hard on this.  Then he played harmonica for us.  I asked him if he could play Piano Man and he tried, but the harmonica was the wrong key for the song.  Did you know Harmonica's come in keys?  I found out when we bought him a harmonica case with 5 harmonica's in different keys for Christmas.  He left to go off to work.  Did I tell you he is working at Holiday Auto as a Lube Tech?  He likes it and could not wait to get to work to try out his new drill.  He said next week he would bring his guitar and play for us.  I love it.  I did another challenge today....I had to use an artist that shared and initial with me, had to have yellow, a circle and a flower in it.  So I did this.  Hope you like it,
Hugs,

annnieM

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/13/2014 12:57 PM)

Good Morning!   I know it looks like afternoon to you, but I'm just becoming conscious, so it's still morning to me.

Another terrible no-sleep night, so I got up and took my shower and dressed early, then came out for coffee and toast.  By then the sun was shining in our faces so we moved to the front room, put on an episode of "Miss Fisher" (British on Netflix and/or Acorn), and I promptly fell asleep.  Great!   I had several things I needed to do today, and I haven't even signed in yet!

I've ordered some Norwex products from our neighbor, Lisa, who sells them and she will be bring them over after work this afternoon.
I'm buying some of the cloths as a gift for Marcela because she really loves them, and a few more things for us.
We haven't visited since before Christmas and since she sells cleaning products, I really hate to have things looking like I'm not using them.

Lou Ann, I love your challenges because they so often result in presents for ME!  Really beautiful tag ~ thank you so much!   Could Spring really be on the way?

I'm really crazy about your nephews and Josh in particular.  It's lovely that they are so close to you and your mom.

Have a Happy Day, All.

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/13/2014 6:23 PM)

So Dorothy, the question is... Do you use them or do you just buy more so she thinks you use them?  Now that would be silly, so if you are, then when the excess builds up you can donate them to a shelter for cleaning supplies, lol.  Or give them also to Marcela to use. :)  Tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 42.
I'll take that.  It's a beginning... it is back to freezing on Sat.
Josh is our favorite...not that we have one ;)  The rest are ok, but usually have agenda to their helping us out.  Today Jordan stopped to take in the recycling bin and came in and asked for a soda.  Did not even sit and chat with us, in and out.  And mom had called his mom and asked if he was out and about if he could stop.  Oh well.  I am hoping we can convince Josh to stop in every Wed, we will give him lunch and he can take out the trash and play music for us.  He loves doing that and loves an appreciative audience :D  It would work great for us all and we get to see him every week.  On Christmas day, Brent (nephew and godson) said he would bring us gifts in the next day or two.  He did not want other aunts upset.  No idea why he would not bring moms...no one would question that, lol.  But he has never come back, hahaha.  Words....they live their lives and give us lip service...  Oh well... he should not be spending money on me.  We stop birthday gifting when they turn 18 or are out of school. If they are still in school, I will gift.  But I never stopped with Brent because of the Godson issue.  But he makes more money than I do and I struggle.  I know he would not care if I stopped.  Maybe when he has his own family?  If he ever does.  He does not even seem to date any more.  I want a great niece or nephew.
This tag was just a whim because I loved the tube by Molly Harrison.  I hope you like it.
Hugs,
