RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/01/2014 8:24 AM)

Ah, Sure and the Top o' the 'Mornin to Ye ~ and the Bottom of the Fifth, as well.

Last night I put the "bones" of a post for this morning into my Sandbox (area in the other group designated for us to save things), and I'm getting an error message there now.  So much for trying to get a jump start on my post.   From the things I saw in Facebook about others not being able to get into the groups, I guess we know what's going on ~ again.

Backing up to Thursday, no call from the Chrysler place on Wednesday OR on Thursday Morning, so Mike called them.  I'm sure if he hadn't, we still wouldn't have heard from them and they wouldn't have touched the car yet!   I won't go into all the details of the back and forth on Thursday ~ I'm sure you can imagine!   Anyway, late Thursday afternoon they sent the shuttle for Mike and he got the car.  They did apologize and thank him for his patience.  They are OH so lucky they I wasn't there!  The charge turned out to be $50 less than quoted, so that was something, I guess.

Yesterday we had a very nice day with my friend Donna.  We worked together in Omaha, and she moved here a few years before we did, but she lives in Castle Rock which is at least an hour's drive from here, so we rarely get together.   We had a two hour lunch at The Hideaway and then came back here and she and I went to the front room for some girl talk, while Mike went back to the Man Cave.   Good visit.  I'm sorry she is going through a divorce and all that entails, but I'm sure she's made the right decision.   We retired together, and I worked a little over a year on contract after that, but she's worked almost continually.  She thrives on it.  She's taken wonderful European vacations and bought a gorgeous house with her husband of these past 7 years, but now she faces some economic struggles because of the divorce, and I hate that for her.  Still, I'm sure she's doing the right thing, she's strong spiritually and physically and I know she'll be ok.

smiley1

I hadn't responded to your last post from last month, and right now they are not available for me to see.  Aimoo has the dreaded 'Page Not Found' in their place.    Sooooo, I will keep checking back and hope that they re-appear, and in the meantime, I'll just go ahead and address THIS month's new posts.

Lou Ann, you've done it again!   Another lovely March Page for us!   Thank you so much!    I see there are a few Valentine's Leftovers, and I suspect that's for the same reason I can't get into see the last of the February posts.  Hopefully soon Aimoo will have it fixed soon.    They still have some good will for having given us three months of "free" Diamond Status ~~ but given the reasons why they gave it to us, I'm not sure how much good will that will buy if this drags on too long.     The parts of your new March skin that have been updated are lovely!

Not only that, but there are PRESENTS!  Beautiful, loverly presents!   The fairy is a beauty and so is beautiful Irish Coleen with my name on it!   How lovely!  Thank you so much for both of them!!    I am so spoiled, thanks to you!   I have both saved so Aimoo can't sneak in and take them away from me!

Wow ~ it's already almost time for Fat Tuesday.   I am more than ready ~ no one is fatter than I!

Sooo, is March coming in like a Lion or a Lamb?  Well ~~~ yesterday was a beautiful sunny no-jacket day, a bit windy in the morning but calm in the afternoon.  Today?  It's 27 degrees, heading for a high of barely above freezing, with snow in the forecast for both today and tomorrow.  Is that like a Lion, or maybe a Polar Bear?  What does that indicate for March's exit?

We did a bit of shopping yesterday.  Omaha Steaks was having a 50% off everything in the store sale starting yesterday, so on the way home from The Hideaway, we stopped and got several things for the freezer.

Mike got a flyer for leasing a new Mercedes, and he's been having trouble controlling the car because it seems to want to turn into the Mercedes dealership every time he passes.  Fortunately the "sale" was over yesterday.  I really don't see a new Mercedes, leased or bought, in our future.  LOL!   Donna is a car lover, too.  Putting her and Mike together is not a good idea.    My favorite car is one that is Paid For!

It's been a rather "rough" couple of weeks for us (just little things, but so MANY of them), so we plan to take the weekend off.

Mike's cooking tonight.   He plans to make his famous . . . . . . . . . call to the Chinese Restaurant for carry out. smiley63

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/01/2014 10:23 PM)

Well......first of all I will have to admit that the leftover valentines were my fault.  I completely forgot to change the icons.  Oops!  LOL  I took care of it now.  I had a real issue last night when doing the page.  I set it aside while I made supper and ate and then caught up on games on my Ipad.  Then I went back to the page and finished it.  All by myself.  Mom was out to an event with my sister Joanne.  I saved it, so I thought.  Then I noticed that I was logged out and needed to login again.  Never gave it much thought.  But later I thought how could I save the page if I was not logged in?  So I went to check it and most of the work was gone.  It was back to a save I had done much earlier.  DAMN!!!  So I again started finishing then decided it would go a lot faster with mom helping so I waited for her to get home and she did help me.
Thursday night I was having major issues with Aimoo which you will see if you ever get to read the end of February.
You are welcome for the tags and I will post some more when I finish this.
Glad to hear that you had a good visit with your friend.  Isn't she the one with the beautiful convertible?  It is too bad about the divorce and they can be so messy taking care of all the assets.  I hope she will be financially sound when it is done.  That Mike!!  Boys with their toys....Big Toys!!  LOL
I am glad the sale it done, hee hee.  At least he has good taste in cars :)
I hope you are having a relaxing weekend to make up for the lousy week.  I went for my INR today and now it was over 3.
The person I spoke to really irritated me.  First she asked my why I did not go on Friday when I was supposed to?  So I told her I did not have a ride.  Josh never showed up...he forgot!  She then says we only have 1 nurse here on the weekend so it would be better if I went during the week.  I said I try!  Bitch.
Then it is why was I so high?  How the hell do I know?  I had greens 3 times...green beans, cole slaw, spinach but I also drink cranberry juice every day so I always think they cancel each other out.  So finally she takes me back to my does of 3mg daily...which has been my normal dose for years.  But recheck again in 1 week...Friday!  I so wanted to say no...stick it.  I wish I did not have to take blood thinners...but pulmonary emboli and strokes are something I wish to avoid.  So I will go.  I will ask Josh and then remind him.  He will owe me since he is coming over tomorrow for me to do his taxes.  I think I just have one more tag and it is a Fall one.  But it was part of a challenge in my CDO group to make a tag for the MOTW and base it on your favorite season.  Have a Blessed Sunday!
Hugs,

Ok, it is telling me only diamonds can use the method.
So will post in a new post to see if that will work.

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/02/2014 8:27 AM)

Oh yes.  Winter has returned ~ again.   It snowed off and on all day yesterday.  We didn't get very many inches, and in fact parts of our sidewalk and driveway have melted again.  However it was foggy and the news said icy beneith the snow yesterday morning.  Apparently some folks chose to ignore the warnings ~ it didn't look bad,  We can go as fast as we like and those who are more cautious should get out of our way.     Result?  A 140 car pile up on I25 between Logan and University.  30 injured and one dead.

When you hear about multi car pile ups, it always sounds like fender bumps, annoying but no big deal.  Pictures of this pile up showed cars on TOP of other cars.   It had to have taken hours for even those with minor or no damage to get out of that mess and back on their way.   There really ought to be lessons learned, but I suppose there were not, at least by those who need the lessons the most.

It's currently 5 degrees, headed for a "high" of 37, with more snow likely, though I expect not too much.

I see we still aren't able to get into the February page.  If we go into "Today", at the top of the page, we can see all of those posts we can't see in the usual way.  Sooo, while it's not the way we want to read earlier posts, at least it's a way we can read them.    I (and others) also posted about this problem in the Aimoo Help page so hopefully the Aimoo techs will help us.

After polishing off the American "House of Cards", we went on to gobble up all three seasons of the British version except for the very last episode!   We obviously have no control at all!

At first I didn't like it as well as the American version, but it's really fascinating to see how British Parliament and the Constitutional Monarchy work.   I sort of knew, but seeing it all in action was fascinating.  You'd expect the Americans to be rowdy and loud, not the Brits.   Much, besides the actual story, that is quite interesting.   Ian Richardson who played Francis Urqhart (known to his friends as F U) has the most wonderfully expressive face.  Like Kevin Spacey, he turns to you to tell you what he's feeling, but with that face, he really doesn't need to most of the time.   We have one more episode to watch, and we'll probably do that tonight while the rest of you are watching the Academy Awards.

We're also looking forward to the next season of Mr Selfridge.

I have a load of clean clothes in the dryer that needed to be folded yesterday!   I'd best fluff them before I fold.   Just whites, so no problem, unless I forget again today.  Ha.  Otherwise not a whole lot on my agenda for today.   I need to update the checkbooks and transfer funds and soon I will need to tackle the dread Budget Book ~~ but not today!

I just had to shag Shogun off of my lap.   He loves to snuggle next to my warm Laptop when it is on my lap, then he purrs so much he drools and bugs me while I'm trying to type.   Oh-oh.   Here he comes again.  LOL

I'm sorry you had to make the March pages twice ~ but they really are lovely, and much appreciated!

Yes, Donna has the beautiful red Corvette convertible AND she has an older but also beautiful red Lexus that she drove on Friday.   Both she and her almost ex love nice cars and have joined various car clubs.  He now has a Porsche Boxter and a new Lincoln MKZ (like Mike's but newer), but he won't be able to go to the Corvette Club meetings with her anymore.   He really is not a joy, and I do have bad feelings about him that I'm barely able to suppress.

Her husband of 30 some years developed early onset alzheimers and she went through some real misery then.   Lee was a good Christian man but little by little she just lost him.  He died really quite young, a few years before she met Bob, but she had really been without him for several years before that because of that horrid disease.   She was really lonely when she met Bob and he pretended to be quite a bit different than he really was.   Or maybe he really TRIED to be a different sort of man, and just couldn't maintain it.  They had many things that they enjoyed together, but many more that they didn't.   She's a devout Christian and her church means a lot to her, but not to him.   She loves to travel and ultimately when she realized that he would not go anywhere, she started taking trips by herself, or rather with other friends or family members.  She would go to Italy and he would stay home.  Then there were other things, but they are personal so I won't share.    Ah, TMI.

I'm sorry your INR was too high, and that you got such a nasty vampire to take your blood.    My numbers were consistent for such a long time, then suddenly they popped up over 3 for over a month.  They adjusted my dosage and it went down to 1.9 right before I had the Biopsy, but that actually worked well.   So they increased the dosage and now I'm taking my regular 5mg a day except on Wednesday and Saturday, when I take half a pill.   My reading on Thursday was a lovely 2.5.

Good luck with Josh's taxes.  Did you get Turbo Tax?

OOOOh, more presents!  How lovely!  I have her saved and I'm all ready for Fall.   Thank you so much!!

Have a great day.

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/03/2014 8:15 AM)

There is still snow on some of the grassy areas and on the walks and driveways of the houses facing North ~~ like our old house used to do.  The houses facing South usually have the snow melted from the pavement early, but our West facing house gets there too, just a bit more slowly.   It's currently 30 degrees, but heading for the mid 50s today, so even those folks facing North might catch a break.

Hooray ~ our missing posts from February and earlier have been returned!

Lou Ann, did you go to your usual Oscar Party?  Was it fun?  Were you happy with the results?  We watched the last episode of the British House of Cards and then an episode of Midsomer Murders.

We haven't been to a movie in the theater (and therefore seen anything 'new') in years and we don't know any of the "important" or "hot" new actors.  My reaction to either seeing a face or hearing a name is "Who??".  lol  I will probably look at some pictures of the outfits later.

I do like Ellen and I'm sure she was fun, and while I didn't see the movie I think I'm glad Mathew McConaughay won.  He's been around for a while and it's always nicer when someone I "know" wins then when it's someone I've never heard of.  From things I'd heard, I thought Leonardo diCaprio would win.

Mike's planning on working on our taxes today, so we'll see what kind of a refund we get.  I suspect it's going to be large, which as we've said, is a mixed blessing.

Stay warm!

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/03/2014 9:47 PM)

Yes I was at our annual Oscar Party and I did have a good time.  Though I also got sick

but said not a word to those at the party.  Actually I was in extreme pain.  Something I

ate caused me to blow up like a balloon inside and was so tight it hurt to move.  I was

burping as silently as I could and no one seemed to hear me.  Then it turned to gas the

other way but thankfully there was no odor to that.  Then I sat forward and

straightened out and i had a long rumbling belch that seemed to last forever.  I was

so embarrassed and excused my self and no one heard any of it.  TV was on surround

sound and so many people talking.  Everyone was eating some wonderful snacks during

the show and I could not and that really killed me.  Gary brought my favorite caramel

corn from a gourmet shop and I said no.  I think he knew something was wrong.

We had Papa Murphy's pizza...3 different kinds and they were all awesome.  One was

called the Cowboy and it had a lot of meats on it and was my favorite...I am such a

carnivore.  Then there was a barbecued chicken which was mild and delicious.  And there

was a veggie and it was wonderful.  I are too much.  And then I had half of a large

cupcake.  It was a black eyed susan.  Chocolate cupcake topped with marshmallow

creme, covered with a caramel frosting.  Then I went to the recliner and within minute

s I was suffering.  I should have asked if they had tums or asked for a soda...the

carbonation usually helps.  But I suffered in silence.

Ellen was wonderful as the host, and at one point she wore a dress!!  But she came out

dressed as Glinda the good witch from the Wizard of Oz.  They did a tribute to it and

Judy's 3 children were there.  She called Liza that she was the best female impersonator

she had ever seen.  You really are sir, she said.  She ordered pizza and shared it with the

starving stars.  Then later passed a hat to pay for it.  She kept doing selfies with stars

and posting them to twitter and then asking everyone to repost them.  She did one that

was her and a mass of stars which you might have seen on FB.  They crashed Twitters

servers with all the reposts.  I thought she did a great job.

I paid my bills and balanced my checkbook today and will do again when my statement

comes.  I peaked in on the Agnesian site, it is the hospital and clinics I use.  My bills

are there awaiting insurance payment.  The amount at this time for all the doctor visits

and the hospital stay is about $15,000.  I nearly freaked.  I pray that my insurance

covers a lot of that.  I cannot believe what they charged for my medicines while I was

there.  Especially when they are all free through my mail order pharmacy.  What a rip.

We should be allowed to provide our own.

It is still really cold here too.  It is currently 12 degrees and 4 with windchill.  It snowed

Sat into Sun.  This winter is never going to end.  I saw your post about the accident on

FB, horrible.  Mostly Wisconsinites know how to drive in winter but there

is always those idiots that drive too fast for the conditions.

Hope you have a great day tomorrow.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH

CelebrateMardiGras.gif picture by DorothyCatlady

Welcome to Fat Tuesday!   Hard to believe we're right up to Lent.   Is anyone giving anything up for Lent?  I should give up all food,  real 40 day fast for Lent.  I'm pretty sure I could live on my own fat for at least that long.  Not to worry, though.  You all KNOW that's not gonna happen.

We would be looking at another nice day with the temps in the mid-50s today, but we're also going to be having 20 mph winds, and I'm sure even more 'exciting' gusts.  I hate the winds.

Mike got our taxes finished last night, and as expected we're getting a bigger than we should refund.   In the past we often had to pay in to the state, but since Mike passed 65, our state taxes have really gone down.  Colorado is a good tax state for Seniors.  The first 25k of taxable income is 'forgiven' ~ for each person.  We don't even have to quarterly estimate anymore because our tax bill is so small.  Go Colorado!

Lou Ann, I'm so sorry you were in pain and didn't feel well during the Oscar party.  How miserable.

While I didn't know any of the movies that were up for awards, the Oscar Show did look like fun.  The food at your party sounded fabulous.  You guys always have such great sounding things1

I didn't realize Mathew McConaughay had lost so much weight for his part in the movie.  I haven't seen him in quite a while.   Herman Cain posted on Facebook that he thanked God in his acceptance speech and it was apparently given a very tepid response from the assembled Hollywood crowd.   It was mentioned by others later as being courageous.  What have we become that thanking God in public has become "courageous"?

I still haven't seen all the pictures of the dresses.  I usually see them the next day.  I'm sure I'll see them later.

Oooh, I hope your insurance makes a huge dent in those bills!    I'm always amazed at how much the hospitals and doctors agree to disallow before even submitting their actual bills to the insurance companies.  Then the Insurance company pays the lion's share of what is allowed and hopefully not too much will be left for you to pay.   Fingers and toes crossed!

Have a Fabulous Fat Tuesday!

We got 3 inches of snow overnight.  Spring is never going to come.
As you see, I worked on a Mardi Gras challenge today.  Did not do much else.  Still seeing Oscar stuff on the TV.  There were some very pretty dresses.  I loved Lupita Nyong'o's dress. She looked like a princess.  She is soooo beautiful.
Now I see they are saying she looks like Cinderella.

She was my favorite of them all.  Though there were lots of beautiful gowns.
I am happy to hear that you will be getting back money from taxes.  I miss getting a check from the state and IRS.  I used to feel rich.  But since I do not file taxes I get nothing back, lol.
Nothing much else to say.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.

RE:WELCOME TO MARCH
(Date Posted:03/05/2014 7:54 AM)

Happy Ash Wednesday, and Happy Hump Day.

We got about two inches of snow last night ~ really pretty, but since we're heading for a high in the low 50s I think it will melt on it's own.

Marcela comes this morning.  We pretty much have everything done for her visit.  I need to get a shower and then we should get some breakfast before she gets here at 9.

My Great Nephew Aaron sent me the cutest video I've ever seen yesterday, of our tiny preemie Vince (now a robust 12 lbs) and his best friend and Lord High protector Cobalt (the Doberman) singing a duet.  I can't figure out how to post it here, so I'm going to send it to you in an email.  Be sure to turn your sound up high.  Mary Ann, I don't think I have your current email, or I would send it to you, too.

Lou Ann, thank you for the gorgeous Mardi Gras tag!  I have it saved and ready to use next year.   Do you read the Laura Childs' Scrapbooking myseries?  They are set in New Orleans and often involve MardiGras, which I was surprised to learn is not just celebrate on one day there.  Fun reads.

I do agree about the Cinderella gown.  Lovely.  I swear none of those women have an ounce of body fat or they couldn't wear those lovely gowns.

Must go and soak my head now.   Have a happy day.

OMG, you will not believe what I did. Went to get a St Pat's border to use and the first couple were corrupted and no longer had content in the borders. So I wanted to clean them up and delete them. So I went to the first one and without thinking I deleted it. Oh Lord, I forgot the first post is the start of the thread and if you delete it, you delete all of those that follow. Damn, damn, double damn. What do I do now? I cannot believe what I thought of worked. I went back in history until I was before the delete.  I then copies all the borders over into a blank note, then I made a new St. Pat's category and then copied them all back over into the St. Pat's borders.  It worked and we still have our borders.  I was ready to shoot myself..JK!

Dorothy, Have you tried to look at the old posts in February lately? I got in with no problems.  So either I do not have the same issue as you or it is fixed.  I did not see anywhere to save the skin, so maybe that is only an owner thing.  Nor did I see where you could get skins.  Just wanted to check them out and though the diamond status would let me. I am going to write the admin again.  I think it is so funny that everyone seems to clean before the house cleaned comes.  I know it is just straightening up so she can work but it just strikes me funny.

The sun is shining brightly today.  Temp is 15, 6 with windchill...all above zero, whoopee!  Friday is supposed to get above zero so maybe Spring is really on it's way...I sure hope so.

Have a great day on Thursday.

Hugs,

I guess that I misunderstood how Mardi Gras is celebrated.

I did not realize that the 4th was the end of it.  They say the best time to come

is the extended weekend before Fat Tuesday, which signals the end of

Mardi Gras.  I learn something new all the time.

The snow is all melted on the walks and driveways, still there on the grass on the North facing houses and a little bit on our West facing house.    While Marcela was here, the walk shovelers came by and shoveled around her car in our driveway.   Talk about a waste of money ~ if they'd waited an hour there wouldn't have been any snow left!   I guess it's good that they came because the North facing houses might not have lost the snow on their walks without help. We sure didn't need it.

Trivia, indeed, but I have't much else to share ~ lol.

We got our latest Comcast bill, due the end of March, and it went up $62!      Six months ago we transferred our internet service to Comcast, and with Cable and Internet combined they gave us lots of discounts and we were actually paying less for Comcast and Telephone together than we had been.  At that time, the woman Mike worked with told him that if he came into the office they could give us much better deals than calling in to the Customer Service Department.   It's also a much bigger pain in the tush.   I find it beyond aggravating that each of us pays different amounts for our Cable service not based on what services we have but on who we talked to.    Anyway, now Mike is going to call in and see what they can do, and then probably go into the office and see what THEY can do.  Ridiculous way to run a business, but there must be some logic in it for them ~ one assumes.

Aw, Lou Ann, how miserable.   I appreciate all the work you did to get back the borders.   Now, I almost hate to tell you there is an easier way.  smiley65

When we delete something it goes into the Trash Bin at the bottom of the pages.   As long as we don't EMPTY the trash, but simply open it, you can find the threads that have been deleted.   I thought maybe something was wrong with ours because I couldn't find  St Patricks Day, but check out page 2, GREEN and see if that is the one you deleted.

If it is, then whatcha do is open the thread, click on ACTION then go to MOVE and from there select the category your "Green" borders should live in.

Obviously you don't still need to do that, but it's good information to have if something like this ever happens again.   Just be sure you don't EMPTY the trash!

Yes, all the old posts came back several days ago.   I should have mentioned it!

I'm sure the way adding new skins works is that only the Owner (or maybe the Super Admin, I can't remember) can save a skin they have made or access all the skins already out on Aimoo.  Once the skin has been installed, a "regular" Admin like you and me can change it.   You can save 20 skins, either those you have made or those you have downloaded.  Once it's in Your Skin Collection, you can tweak it as you would like, or use it 'asis'.    Diamond members also have access to another category of skins that have been made by other members.  There are tons of them there.   All you HAVE to do is add your own Header, although you can change more if you wish.

Maybe you could email annnieM and ask her if she would transfer ownership to you.   I don't remember exactly how that works, but basically I think it's just a request.   I'll look around and see if I can find more specifics.

The Cleaning Lady ~ LOL.   When I was working absolutely horrid hours I thought about getting a cleaning lady.  One of my friends had one and I thought it would be wonderful.  Then I realized I would have to deep clean before she came or I would be too embarrassed.   I couldn't get past the idea of having another woman do my work for me, so I never did it.    UNTIL I got TM and Mike got completely worn out from doing almost everything.   By the time we got Kim, I picked up anything obvious before she came, but that was it.   You'd be amazed at how easy it is now for me to sit on my ever expanding bee-hind and let her work around me.  Ha!

Ok, here's the scoop.

http://forum1.aimoo.com/Aimoo_Help_Forum/Tutorials-Trendy/Forum-Transfer-Ownership-1-2037290.html

You will see that we as Admins don't have Forum Transfer listed.  That will only be on the Owner's Control Panel.
