RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/15/2014 10:27 PM)

iT STARTED OUT A SUNNY DAY AND THEN GOT CLOUDY AND IT RAINED, BUT WE NEEDED IT SO THAT WAS GOOD.
WAS A GOOD DAY FOR ME.  GOT UP AND CHECKED THE C-PAP,
8.1 HOURS OF USAGE LAST NIGHT...WOOHOO.  SHOWERED AND
ARE MY BAGEL, TOOK MY PILLS AND DID MY NEBULIZER TREATMENT.
THEN WENT AND PUT ALL THE DISHES IN THE RACK AWAY.  THIS ALWAYS KILLS MY BACK WITH THE BACK AND FORTH OF PUTTING
THINGS AWAY.  TOOK A BREAK FOR MY BACK AND THEN BACK TO THE KITCHEN TO DO THE DISHES.  MOM AND DIANE CAME HOME THEN.  DIANE TOOK MOM GROCERY SHOPPING AFTER CHURCH.
PUT THE GROCERIES AWAY AND MADE LUNCH.  AFTER LUNCH BACK OUT TO THE KITCHEN TO SLICE UP CUCUMBERS FOR REFRIGERATOR PICKLES.  THEN CUTTING UP 2 LBS OF STRAWBERRIES.  FROZE HALF OF THEM.  THAT WAS IT...WE WERE SHOT FOR THE DAY.  TAKING A SHOWER TAKES A LOT OUT OF ME.  I CANNOT WEAR MY OXYGEN IN THE SHOWER AND I HAVE ISSUES BREATHING IN THE HUMIDITY.  I CANNOT KEEP THE FAN ON TO CIRCULATE THE AIR AS THEN I GET TOO COLD....I LOVE THAT IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER, BUT NOT WHEN IT IS NOT REAL HOT, LOL.
I CANNOT FIND MY APPT FOR SLEEP CLINIC TO PICK UP THE OVERNIGHT PULSE OX RECORDER SO I NEED TO CALL THEM FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING.  PRETTY SURE IT IS THIS WEEK.
WE USED TO ALWAYS FLY OUR FLAG.  WE HAD ONE THAT WAS PRESENTED TO US BY THE BOY SCOUTS WHEN MICHAEL DIED.  I THINK WE GOT ONE WHEN DAD DIED TOO, BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO IT.  BUT NEITHER OF US IS ABLE TO STEP UP ONTO THE RAILING TO PUT THE FLAG IN THE FLAG POLE HOLDER.
IN FACT I THINK IT BROKE, I HAVE TO CHECK.  SO OUR FLAG DOES NOT GET UP ANYMORE.  WE COULD PUT THE HOLDER LOWER ON ONE OF THE PORCH COLUMNS BUT THEN THE FLAG HANGS TOO LOW AND PEOPLE WILL STEAL IT.  SO WE JUST PUT A PAPER ONE IN THE WINDOW.
I DO NOT EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT ELECTIONS.  IT IS RIDICULOUS.  THE GOOD THING IS THE CROOKED CONGRESSMAN PETRI IS RETIRING.  HE HAS BEEN IN OFFICE AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER AND THEY SAY HE IS THE 12TH RICHEST CONGRESSMAN.  BUT THERE ARE QUESTIONABLE ETHICS USED IN GETTING IT.  SO I AM GLAD HE IS DONE AND I HOPE HE PAYS FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE.  HE HAS NEVER IMPRESSED ME, EVEN WHEN I MET WITH HIM WITH FELLOW UNION MEMBERS IN HIS FOND DU LAC OFFICE.  HER SAID WHAT HE KNEW WE WANTED TO HEAR.  LAST YEAR HE WAS QUOTED AS HAVING SAID HE DOES NOT ALWAYS VOTE THE WAY THE PEOPLE WANT HIM TO....HE KNOWS WHAT IS GOOD FOR WISCONSIN.....WHAT AN ASSHOLE!  SORRY, BUT IT IS TRUE.  OK,
NUFF SAID.  I AM NOT GOING TO GET ALL RILED UP, LOL.
NOT SURE WHAT IS ON THE AGENDA FOR TOMORROW.  IT SHOULD
BE MY ROOM....IN FACT, IT WILL BE, EVEN IF IT IS ONLY AN HOUR AT A TIME.  I AM SWEARING TO YOU THAT I WILL GET A START IN
THERE.  AFTER I FIND OUT WHEN MY APPT IS, LOL.
HAVE A MONUMENTAL MONDAY :)
HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/16/2014 7:56 AM)

Good Morning.  Welcome to a brand new week.

We did go for a ride yesterday afternoon and got our ballots mailed in.  In a couple of days I will check the Jefferson County site to be sure they were received.  I do like being able to do that, given all the voter fraud there has been lately.  Of course you still don't know for sure that they actually COUNTED your ballot ~

It was a pretty day yesterday and promises to be again today, though a bit warmer.  We should make it into the mid-80s with no rain or wind.  That will be nice.

So very much I should be doing.  Will I end up doing anything?  We shall see.

OOoh, another lovely present!  I do love your challenges!  Thank you so much!!!

How wonderful you are doing with the CPAP and your treatments.  I'm so glad, and clearly it gives you the energy to get a lot done in the mornings.  Just try not to overdo.

Do you stand at the sink to cut vegies and fruits?  I don't anymore.  You'd laugh if you saw me, but it works.   I get a bowl with water for rinsing the veggies (or fruits), paper towels to dry and another bowl to put the finished products into and something for the trash ~ then I sit at the kitchen table and slice and dice away.  Hey ~ whatever works, right?   Standing for a length of time makes me think someone from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is having at my back.

Mike put our flag holder on the porch railing.   It's a bit lower than we might like, but because of the stone front there really is no other place to put except maybe over the garage, which would involve a ladder to put it up and take it down.  We know THAT isn't going to happen.  The flag doesn't fly low enough to be disrespectful or anything, and I can put it out standing on the porch and just leaning over the railing.

We have the flag that was given for Mike's dad at his burial ~ along with a 21 gun salute.  Mike's brother was a woodworker and he made a triangular case that the folded flag fits into, behind a glass front.  We have it on top of the bookshelf in the Guest Suite where it looks good and is not in danger from the cats.

Believe me, I 'hear' you about our elected officials who don't actually represent the people who they were elected to represent, but vote the way it best serves THEM.  I become apopletic about them!  It seems to me that there are very few who actually feel the obligation to represent those they were hired to represent.  I'm even angrier with the nincompoops who keep returning them to office.   "I just vote for the one with the 'D' or the 'R' after his name.  I don't really know anything about him".   Aarrgghh.  Then just stay home, please!  If you can't at least TRY to vote intelligently, than please do us all a favor and DON'T vote.   (See?  I come Pre-Riled.  LOL)

I had a lot of trouble learning what I wanted to know until after the ballots actually arrived.  Then they got busy getting the information out ~ and what the candidate didn't share, his or her opponent sure did!  I don't just accept the negative stuff, but it gives me a place to start my research on issues I have concerns about.   Interestingly, none of the candidates made their positions on Amnesty clear.  I guess that isn't surprising ~ they don't want to tick anyone off by having a position, but that ticks ME off.  lol     Anyway, it's done.   Now if only the phone calls and mailings would stop.

Have a mahvelous Monday anyway!
Thanks again for the bee-u-ti-ful tag.

THIS WAS LAST YEARS AUGUST PAGE...I THINK IT WAS AUGUST, LOL.  ANYWAY, IT IS HOT AS HELL HERE AND THE HUMIDITY IS BUILDING AS WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THUNDERSTORMS AROUND MIDNIGHT, I HOPE SO :)  TODAY WAS 85 AND TOMORROW IS SUPPOSED TO BE 87.  THEN HANGING AROUND THE 80 MARK THE REST OF THE WEEK.  I WILL HAVE TO WORK A LITTLE AND REST AND WORK A LITTLE AND REST.  EVEN WITH THE OXYGEN, I HAVE TROUBLE BREATHING WITH THE HOT HUMID AIR.  THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR BEING A PROCRASTINATOR.  WHEN WILL I LEARN?
smiley2

THE TAG WAS NOT A CHALLENGE.  JUST ME FOOLING AROUND WITH A NEW SUMMER SCRAP KIT.  I LOVED ALL THE FRAMES IN IT SO DECIDED TO MAKE A MULTI FRAME BACKGROUND.  I AM GLAD YOU LIKE IT.
DOROTHY, I AM RIGHT THERE AT THE TABLE WITH YOU.  WE DO WASH THEM AT THE SINK BUT I DO PEELING AND CUTTING AND CHOPPING AT THE TABLE.  I DO ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THE KITCHEN AT THE TABLE.  ALL INGREDIENTS ARE GATHERED THERE AND THAT IS WHERE I WORK FROM.  MOM TOO, FOR THE MOST PART.  SOMETIMES I EVEN HAVE TO REST DURING THE GATHERING BECAUSE MY BACK HURTS SO MUCH.  WHEN I DO THE DISHES I SIT ON A HIGH STOOL AT THE SINK.  WE TRY TO MAKE IT SO THAT ONE OF US CLEARS THE DISHRACK AND STACKS THE DISHES AND THE OTHER DOES THEM.  IT WORKS OUT FAIRLY WELL THAT WAY.
I ALWAYS HOPE FOR THE BEST WHEN IT COMES TO MAIL IN VOTING.  I PRAY THAT MY VOTE GETS TO THE RIGHT PLACE,  THANK GOD WE CAN DO THE MAIL IN VOTE, OR I AM NOT AT ALL SURE I WOULD ALWAYS GET TO VOTE,  ESPECIALLY NOW THAT MOM DOES NOT DRIVE.
TODAY LOUANN TOOK ME TO THE SLEEP CLINIC AND I PICKED UP THE PULSE OXIMETRY DEVICE THAT WILL RECORD MY O2 LEVEL IN MY BLOOD FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT.  THE REPORT WILL GO TO HATAHET AND HE WILL LET ME KNOW IF I HAVE TO INCREASE MY OXYGEN BEYOND 2 LITERS AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE C-PAP DILUTES IT.  SO WE WILL SEE.  WELL, THAT IS ALL THE IS NEW IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS...PRAY FOR ME NOT TO GET HEAT STROKE IN THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS....I WILL STAY HYDRATED!!
HAVE A TERRIFIC TUESDAY.

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/17/2014 9:25 AM)

Good Morning.

smiley23

In the other group, I've just made an interesting discovery. Since yesterday I have been getting the message there that adding images from our  hard  drives was only available for Diamond Communities.  Apparently the TnT Group wasn't considered to be a Diamond Community even though it was clearly marked as a Diamond Community.  Also, about three-fourths of the smilies were missing.  Several of the other members have also encountered this situation before too.

Sooo, I clicked on the diamond at the top of the page indicating that we ARE in fact a Diamond Community.  When the new page came up and I opened a new post, everything worked as it should!   I don't know if this will always work or if it was just a fluke, but i think it's worth sharing with you.

smiley31

Our Diamond membership in Cuppa runs out next month, and I'm going to miss it.  You did a great job of getting it extended.  My Diamond membership in my little DJ's Studio (storage and experiment) Group ran out in April.

Semi lazy day yesterday.   I did get some laundry folded and dinner made, but not a whole lot more.  I'm really becoming worthless.   AND my Lazy Boy Recliner in the Morning Room is broken.  Probably too many laptops and cats on my lap when I'm sitting there, but the leg rest doesn't hold,  or only holds sporadically.  The parts are guaranteed for life so we called Lazy Boy and they should call us back today with an appointment for someone to come out and fix it.  They charge both trip charge and for the repair, but the parts are "free".  Suuure, they are ~ but what are you going to do?

Oh, for Pete's sake!  They just called and the earliest they can come is Monday, July 7th!  I guess they are blocking out a couple of weeks for some reason.  Phooey.  Mike offered to switch chairs in there with me since I'm there much more than he is.  Since it will be so long, I guess I'll take him up on it.   My chair is still comfy if you don't want to put your legs up ~ and sometimes even if you do.

On a happier note, TV last night was really good.  First Major Crimes, then the new Murder in the First and then Longmire.   We saved "24" to watch tonight.   Can't say we're really enjoying it, but we're invested in it and there are only a few more 'hours' left.

And how was YOUR day?

smiley23

We're going to be in the higher 80s today, but with no rain and not too much wind ~~ and mercifully not too much humidity.  I HATE humidity, and I don't have breathing problems.  How wretched it must be for you!   Is someone lined up to help you with your AC??

Well, here I thought I was unique, doing almost all of my "cooking" at the kitchen table!  Ha.  Good to know I am not alone.   If the meal involves actually standing at the stove, often Mike will take over.  Depending on what it is, I can sit in between stirrings, but standing doesn't bother Mike too much.  For him it's all about balance.  I have both balance and back pain issues.  Poor old gal is falling apart!

We talked about getting a tall chair to sit in at the sink, but we have no place for it to live when it's not in use.  Our island doesn't have an overhang on the side opposite the sink.

I am soooo glad you have good friends and family to take you to the places you need to go.  I've often wondered what I would do if Mike couldn't drive.  I can drive ~ and I have the renewed license to prove it ~ but I actually haven't driven in a couple of years.   I really need to start again "just in case".   It's just so nice that he is willing to take me anyplace I need to go.  I'm very lucky, too.

Stay Cool!!

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/17/2014 9:24 PM)

I am here, lol.  That is all I can say.
Last night I had my first bad night since wearing the
C-pap.  I do not know if it had to do with wearing the
pulse ox thingy...why would I worry about that?  And
the breathing strip was digging in and coming off so I
took it off and slept without it.  The C-pap still registered
me as 7.7 hours..but I was awake a lot of that.  I need
to get  busy in my room and get the AC in.  I think I
would sleep better.  The sound of the running AC blocks
out other noises that might be waking me.  It may have
been the storm too as it was pretty wicked.  I wanted to
stay up and listen but had that pulse ox to do so did not.

I sit on the high stool if I have to stir something at the
stove.  I use it at the stove and the sink.  Mom uses it
all the time at the table when working.  So we just keep
it at the table.  Our table has the high stool and my
rolling stool at it and one chair on the back side, lol.
We never eat at the table.  We used the dining room
table when we have company otherwise we eat in front
of the TV.  Shame on us.
I have gotten no response at any of the email addies I
sent for Mary Ann and one came back undeliverable.
Tomorrow I am going to write to the address and see if
I can track down a phone number.  Someone should be
at the house.
I do not want to give up Diamond status.  Things are so
much easier with it.  How do you know what time we have
left?  I may have to invest, lol.
I depended on my mom for so long and now that she does
not drive we have to depend on others.  We try to make
appts for after Suz gets off work, or I try for Mon and Wed
because Louann does not work those days.  She will not
let me pay her for gas so I feel really guilty.  It is a 10
min drive into town to take me to appts and that back
again...a lot of gas usage.  I am thinking I could pick up'
a gas card and then she would have to take it, since I
would have no use for it.
I watched Longmire last night too.  Right now I am watching
Rizzoli and Isles.  I have been pushing my mom more about
me watching shows I like.  I watch shows all day that I do
not like....Maury, Bill Cunningham, Baggage, Paternity Court
and so on.  All garbage.
Well, I am off.  Too hot to sit with this computer on my lap
any longer.  Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/18/2014 8:52 AM)

Good Morning!  Time for coffee and a visit.

Yesterday was another day with minimal accomplishments.  I appear to be hopeless.    We watched the Rizzoli and Isles Marathon off and  on all day.  It was fun, and then we watched the first episode of the new Season.   A new "Suits" on tonight, but I don't see much else that we watch.

I would list all of the things that I should get done today, but given my track record . . . . lol

smiley23

Lou Ann, I do the same thing and worry if there I am taking a 'test', even if it isn't THAT kind of test and we just want to see what the results are so we can adjust my meds or whatever.  I'm sure it did cost you some sleep and I hope that didn't skew the results.  Probably not.   I'm sure the sooner you get the AC in, the better.

LOL ~ we do the same.   We have a lovely kitchen/dining room table and we never eat there unless we have guests.  Ha.

I'd be willing to invest in Diamond Membership for Cuppa too, but I don't think we can.  We can contribute, but only the Owner can actually 'buy' Diamond membership, using our contributions.  smiley66

Go into Control Panel, then scroll  down on the left until you see Diamond Programs, then Accounting.  It shows that our Diamond membership is up on July 13th.

Maybe if  you 'make' your mom  watch some of  the shows you like, she will get hooked too.  You have to see what happens to Henry (or Jane or whoever) so you come back next week.   I suspect next week's Rizoli is going to be a real tear jerker as we say goodbye to Frost.   I still can't believe that lovely and talented young man killed himself.

I really hope there is some way to find our what has happened to Mary Ann.  I hate this not knowing.  Does she need something?  Can we do something?  So frustrating.

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE

Well, I got a call from my pulmonologists office and I need to increase my O2 from 2 liters to 4 liters at night.  My O2 sat was constantly dropping below
88%.  So maybe I will sleep better now.  I got the room partly sorted and
I will finish tomorrow and then ask my sister Suz and Jerry to come put it in.
Then I will sleep even better.  In fact, we had storms all night and this morning and it was so humid...my sats were dropping to 88-90 so we took
it up to 3.  I did feel better after that.  I will talk about that when I see him next month.
I am going to cut this short and go sit outside for a while.
Love you lots.

Good Morning.

smiley9

I had trouble getting in this morning.  Got a funny 'Cuppa not available' type message twice.  Third time was the charm, though.

It's good that you know you need to increase your O2.  So often the tests make  us jump through hoops but don't show anything.  This way you know what you need to do, and you will sleep better and if you sleep better you will feel better the next day!

Good for you getting some of your room rearranged ~ and better for you when you get your AC in.

Mike and I went for a little ride in the late morning and deposited a check.  It's always nice to get out for a bit.  In the late PM we had a brief "storm" with fairly heavy pea-sized hail for about 10 minutes, and then some strong rain for maybe 15 minutes more.  It hadn't been predicted so I'm glad we hadn't decided to go our for dinner or something.

I have to do my blood test this morning and of course I should do all the other things I should have been doing all week long ~ ha.

Make it a good day.

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/19/2014 11:43 PM)

We too have had a couple storms, but a beautiful day

in between.  Sat out on the porch for a while tonight.

But the wind picked up and it got pretty chilly and a

storm was coming in so we headed in.  I did not finish

my room today.  I got a little side table yesterday and

Josh came by and put it together for me.  So I

needed to clear my corner of the living room and

remove the table I was using and replace with the

new one.  I am happy with it.  Though not happy

that Josh (even though I warned him in advance)

did not pay attention to the directions and there

for used wrong screws that popped through the

wrong side.  He also did not get the hinged lid

flush with the surface, but I will manage...what

else can I do?  What is it with most men that

they do not think they have to read the directions.

It did not help that his adorable girlfriend was with

him and was a bit of a distraction.  That I can only

laugh at.  She is a nice girl and was agreeing with

me all along the way...shows she is intelligent, lol.

So tomorrow I finish the bedroom and get the rest

of the stuff out of the living room.  Then Suz and

Jerry and can put the AC in this weekend.

No problems with Cuppa tonight.  Which makes me

glad since I am so late since I started going to bed

earlier and I should be there.  Oh well, I still have

to do my nebulizer treatment.

I know it is not our birthday but it was the challenge

to make a Happy Birthday from tag.  So I hope you

like it.  Have a Fantastic Friday.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/20/2014 8:37 AM)

Good Morning.

Hmmm.  What was I doing 33 years ago today?  Oh, yes ~ I remember.  I was getting married!    I wish some of the pictures from then were digital.  It would be fun to share.

Today is Ice Cream Soda Day, too!  I love Chocolate Ice Cream Sodas, but even if you find a 'real' Soda Fountain, you rarely find someone who actually knows how to make them anymore.  When they start with "Do you want Chocolate Ice cream?" you know this person hasn't a clue, and you might as well ask for something else.    I tell you all this because my wonderful husband, who has been having so much fun with the Soda Water machine I got him for Christmas, has decided his mission is to make me a chocolate ice cream soda for my birthday.  He's been researching "How to" online, and yesterday a package arrived with supposedly the best chocolate sauce in the world ~ all ready for him to make my birthday soda with!   I haven't given a thought to my birthday, and he's been getting what he calls "Novelty Gifts" all week.  LOL

Back to the Anniversary.  Last year we decided that rather than buy each other gifts, because there really isn't anything we needed, we bought each other a shamefully expensive bottle of Scotch ~ 25 year old Glenlivit, to be precise.  Last night we had the last glass of The Glenlivit  in the Library with Enya playing in the Man Cave.  'Twas nice, and may I add ~~ not enough ooooo's in Smooooth.  lol

Sooo, this year we decided to do the same thing, and buy each other another bottle of The 25 year old Glenlivit.     We also have  dinner reservations at The Briarwood.

Lou Ann, clearly you and Mike are both anticipating my birthday!  I love it, and I love the cupcakes!   I just hope the puppy doesn't eat them!   Thank you!!

Your side table sounds like the one I got for Mike the Christmas before last (I think).  He calls it "The Christmas Table" ~ lol ~ and he really loves it.   We have a big old hexagon table between our two chairs, but he has "The Christmas Table" on the right side of his chair and he uses the heck out of it.   I wish I had room for a "Christmas Table" on the other side of MY chair, but I don't.

Good that Josh got it put together for you, bad that he didn't pay attention and kind of screwed it up.   I'm glad his girl is smart and agrees with you!

Today's the day.  You WILL get your room finished.   I wish I could say it's the day I will get all the work I've been putting off all week done, but you and I KNOW that isn't going to happen today.   Maybe tomorrow . . . or . . .

Thanks again for the delicious cupcakes!

I AM ALCOHOL ILLITERATE....I WOULD NEVER WASTE MY MONEY ON 25 YEAR OLD BOOZE.  I HAVE NO PALETTE FOR IT AND WOULD NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 25 YEARS AND 25 MINUTES WHEN IT COMES TO LIQUOR.  BUT I LOVE HOW YOU ALL APPRECIATE IT AND CELEBRATE WITH IT.  THOUGH I DO LOVE A MARGARITA NOW AND THEN.  I HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE A DRINK ON OCCASION BUT ALWAYS A MIX...NOT STRAIGHT.
I HOPE YOU HAVE A LOVELY DINNER OUT AND MAKE SURE YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU HAD SO I CAN SALIVATE ALL OVER MYSELF.

I HOPE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ENJOY MANY MORE TO COME.
REJOICE IN THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOUND AND THAT IT ENDURES.
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH AND YOUR MARRIAGE.
NOTHING NEW ON MY PART. I DID NOT FINISH MY ROOM.  I WILL DO IT TOMORROW MORNING.  I FINISHED UP MY SPACE IN THE LIVING ROOM AND WENT THROUGH A BUNCH OF PAPERS AND TOSSED A  BUNCH.  SO NOW ON TO THE BEDROOM.  I HOPE, LOL.
THE WEATHER WAS LOVELY TODAY AND I SAT OUTSIDE FOR ABOUT AND HOUR.  THIS EVENING IT IS COOL.  I LOVE THAT FOR SLEEPING.  NOTHING I CAN THINK OF TO CHAT ABOUT AT THE MOMENT SO GOING TO SAY GOOD NIGHT AND GO CHECK MY EMAIL.

Welcome to the first day of Summer!  We thought for a while that it would never get here.
smiley13
Our anniversary was very low key but very nice.  Lovely dinner at the Briarwood. Champagne and then a warm spinach salad followed by elk medallions in a cherry demi-glaze with a lovely risotto and baby veggies for me, and Lobster Fritters followed by Prime Rib and garlic mashed potatoes for Himself.  Then we shared a mix of chocolate cream brule' and an assortment from the Briarwood's 'famous' desert tray, and coffee.
I think I'll keep him for another year and do it all again!   I really do count my blessings that this good man has put up with me for the past 33 years, and seems willing to sign on for more.

Lou Ann, my family were all bourbon drinkers and I still remember when I guy I was dating introduced me to Scotch.  He told me it was an acquired taste and I probably wouldn't like it at first.  Well, I acquired the taste with my very first sip!  Ha.    In spite of how we probably sound when I talk about buying liquor, we really aren't big drinkers, but we only managed to make that bottle of Scotch last for a year by having "lesser" bottles (15 year old Glenlivit) for "every day".     I can top that ~~ last year Mike gave me a bottle of 100 year old Grand Marnier, and I still have most of it!  As I've told you, Mike can't cook without Grand Marnier, so for just plain old sippin', we use that and save the "Good Stuff" for special occasions.    We do enjoy other kinds of liquor as well.  Mike makes a mean Margarita, and he really likes a "Perfect" Manhattan, made with Makers Mark and top quality vermouth.   For his 65th birthday, I gave him some Maker's Mark 46, bottled in the year he was born.  He loved it.  I had a second bottle for him which I gave him that Christmas.    Shhhhh ~ don't tell him, but I have two more bottles hidden away to dole out to him in the future, since you can't get it anymore.  While he has his Manhattan, I prefer a nice glass of Sherry.  We do enjoy a nice glass of wine, too.      Hmmm, for saying we weren't big drinkers, we sound like a couple of lushes don't we?  Ha!

Thank you for the Happy Anniversary wishes!   We were older when we married, not 18 and beautiful.  I wore a short dress rather than the long gown and veil, and Mike wore a suit.   My friend Ina stood up for me and gave the readings, and Mike's brother Tom stood up for him and sang the songs we had selected during the service.  He had a wonderful tenor voice.

Instead of a receiving line at the church, we planned to have one on the patio of the restaurant where we held our reception, but typical of my luck, it Rained.   So, instead of standing and waiting for people to come and congratulate us, we walked from table to table and talked to our guests.  It really was kind of nice.    We served champagne punch but we also had an open bar, and we had a lunch of Chicken Marsala and a lovely Wedding Cake.  Oh, and we had a harpist play while we were eating!   It was smallish (100 guests) but I think rather memorable.  We liked it anyway.     Then off to Northern CA for our honeymoon.

I would like to tell you that today I would get all that work that I've been putting off all week done.  I'd really like to tell you that ~~ but I just don't have a whole lot of faith in me.   LOL    At least you made a good start!  I think sitting outside when the weather is lovely is much more important than cleaning and organizing.  Of course you do need to get it done so you can get your AC in, but I like that you are taking time to smell the roses ~~ and enjoy the cool fresh air!

Have a lovely day!

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE

 HELLO DOROTHY
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY.  SUNNY AND WARM
BUT NOT REAL HOT.  I LOVED IT.  MOM WAS GONE
MOST OF THE DAY TO A BABY SHOWER IN ILLINOIS WITH MY SISTER DIANE...IT WAS FOR A 2ND COUSIN AND I JUST THINK THAT IS PUSHING IT.  BUT IT IS MY FAVORITE AUNTS GRANDDAUGHTER SO THAT GIVES A DIFFERENT SLANT TO IT. LOL  SO I HAD A CRIMINAL MINDS MARATHON.  THIS SEASON FROM START TO FINISH.  LOVED IT.
THIS EVENING I HAD AN HOUR LONG MANIC TALK WITH MY COUSIN SALLY JO.  I HAVE NEVER LIKED THIS COUSIN.  BUT NOW SHE IS MENTALLY ILL AND I LISTENED TO HER RANTING.  MINDLESS CHATTER ABOUT PEOPLE I DID NOT KNOW AND HER THOUGHTS JUMPED ALL OVER.  I JUST SAID MMM HMM AND CHUCKLED NOW AND THEN.  I AM HOPING NOT TO BE A RECIPIENT AGAIN FOR A LONG TIME.  I COULD NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND A LOT OF WHAT SHE SAID AS SHE WAS TALKING SO FAST AND WITH MY HEARING LOSS I CANNOT CATCH EVERYTHING.  I THINK FOR THE SAKE OF MY SANITY THAT IS A GOOD THING.
I LIKE ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS YOU DRINK FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS.  IT SEEMS TO ME IT IS HOW THE WEALTHY LIVE.  I KNOW YOU DO NOT THINK OF YOURSELF THAT WAY BUT I DO :)
I THINK YOUR WEDDING SOUNDS PERFECT.  I ALWAYS THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING SMALL AND SIMPLY DONE.  MY FAVORITE THING IS THAT YOU HAD A HARPIST PLAY.  WHEN I WAS ON THE BONE MARROW UNIT, EVERY FRIDAY A WOMAN CAME IN AND PLAYED THE HARP IN THE VISITORS ROOM.  I NEVER MISSED IT.  I LOVE THE HARP MUSIC AND LOVED WATCHING HER PLAY. IT IS SUCH AN ART.
WELL, I DID NOT GET MY ROOM DONE.  EVERYTHING IS MOVED AND THEY CAN GET TO IT.  SO I AM GOING TO ASK HER TO COME BY AS SOON AS THEY CAN AND PUT IT IN.
MOM HAS ASKED ME TO MAKE AN AFGHAN FOR THE FAMILY REUNION FOR THE MYSTERY BOX THEY ALWAY RAFFLE OFF.  I HAVE ABOUT 1 MONTH TO GET IT MADE.  THAT IS NOT A LOT OF TIME BUT IF I USE A REALLY LARGE HOOK I CAN DO IT.  THEY WANT IT IN PACKER COLORS.  BORING..BUT THEY ARE BUYING THE YARN SO I WILL DO AS THEY ASK.
NEW TAGS!!  THIS CHALLENGE WAS TO USE ONE OF MONTI'S TAG TUTS. MONTI IS A SCRAP KIT MAKER FOR CDO. (CREATIVE DESIGN OUTLET)  WHERE I BUY MOST OF THE TUBES I USE NOW.  SHE IS VERY TALENTED.  SO I CHOSE HER TUT, UNDER THE SEA.  SHE DID IT WITH GORJUSS TUBE AND SCRAPS BUT I HAD TO USE CDO AND THEREFORE COULD NOT USE THE GORJUSS KIT EVEN THOUGH I HAD IT.  YOU CANNOT MIX ARTISTS.  SO I HAD TO FIND MY OWN SCRAPS.  I DID PRETTY WELL IN MATCHING THEM UP WITH THE TUT.  SO HERE ARE OUR TAGS.  ENJOY!
HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE

Hello.  It's Monday!

We're looking at some severe storms predicted for later in the day, but we have no plans to go out, so it's ok.  Hoping for no hail, tho.

As usual, much I should do today.  Will I??    Yesterday I did get the wood floor washed and Mike washed our bathroom floor and put together the chest we ordered to store the chair pads on the deck.  Today I really need to do some laundry and I am going to make some egg salad to have on Mini Croissants for dinner.  Should be a pretty easy day.    How 'bout you?

Oooh, another gorjuss (ok, gorgeous) tag with MY name on it! Yay ~ and Thank You.  The animation is great ~ it really does look like underwater!

How fun that you had your own private Criminal Minds Marathon!   I really do love the Marathons, too.    On the other hand, the long visit with Sally Jo doesn't sound like quite so much fun ~ lol.

I like the image of our living like the wealthy, but trust me.  Ha.  It's just that I have been a saver all of my life, and now at this stage of my life the question becomes "What am I saving for?"  Sooo, we are indulging ourselves, and why not.  We don't have kids to save for and (not to be negative) but the clock is ticking.  We need to protect ourselves from the damage our government seems to want to inflict on citizens who have played by the rules, and particularly on seniors, but beyond that we don't actually 'need' much.  If we were as healthy as we should be at our ages, we'd be spending money on trips and fun activities, but the sad truth is that we just can't do very much anymore.   So now, for the first time in our lives,  if there is something we want, we don't wait anymore.

Oooh, pressure!  Making an afghan in a month!  I know you can do it, tho.   I haven't done any knitting in so long I think I'd have to be retrained.  I never did learn to crochet.

Thanks again so much for the beautiful tag!

Good TV tonight: Major Crimes, Murder in the First and Longmire plus saving "24" to watch tomorrow.   Have you noticed how it is always either Feast or Famine with TV?  Either everything you want to watch is on one night, or nothing.  I am SO glad we can watch some things on OnDemand and "they" can't make us choose anymore!

Have a Mahvelous Monday!

RE:WELCOME TO JUNE
(Date Posted:06/23/2014 10:42 PM)

I DID NOT DO MUCH OF ANYTHING TODAY.  IT GOT PRETTY WARM...84 BUT IT WAS NICE IN THE HOUSE, SO THAT IS WHERE WE STAYED.  CREATED SOME GAME SHEETS FOR MY MOM TO USE AT TOPS TONIGHT.  I USED THE PC IN THE BACK ROOM FOR THAT.  BUT IT GETS REALLY HOT BACK THERE WITH THE COMPUTER MODEM ETC.  MOM LENT MY FAN FROM THE BACK ROOM TO CHRIS IN THE FRONT APT AND SHE HAS NOT RETURNED IT YET.  IT WAS TO HELP A RUG DRY AFTER SHAMPOOING.  WILL HAVE TO ASK HER FOR IT TOMORROW.  I HEARD HER SAY SHE IS OFF.  I GOT A NEW WIRELESS ROUTER THAT I TRIED TO HOOK UP AND IT IS NOT WORKING.  I DO NOT KNOW WHY.  SAME SET UP AS THE OLD ONE  BUT IT DOES NOT WORK.  I NEED TO WORK ON IT AS OUR OLDER ONE IS NOT HANDLING THE INCREASED SPEED OF OUR INTERNET VERY WELL AND WE LOSE OUR CONNECTION OFTEN WHICH IS TOTALLY IRRITATING.  BUT I NEED THE FAN TO DO IT.  SO WILL HAVE TO ASK.
THE LADIES, CAROL AND GLORIA ARE COMING TOMORROW NIGHT (OR TONIGHT WHEN YOU READ THIS, LOL.)  THEY WANT TACO'S, SO WE WILL DO TACO BELL AND GET MOM SOMETHING AT TUCKERS ACROSS THE STREET AS SHE DOES NOT LIKE MEXICAN AT ALL.  I TOLD HER THE HOT IS IN THE SAUCES AT TACO BELL BUT SHE WILL NOT TRY THEM.  CAROL SAID SHE IS BRINGING BUSTER BARS FOR DESSERT.  YUM.  I AM HOPING SHE MEANS PEANUT BUSTER BARS FROM DQ AS I LOVE THEM.
WILL HAVE TO DO SOME TIDYING TOMORROW BEFORE THEY COME.  SWEEP THE BATHROOM AND KITCHEN.  CLEAN THE BATHROOM FIXTURES AND VACUUM THE LIVING ROOM.  IF IT IS NICE WE WILL SIT OUTSIDE ON THE PORCH, IF NOT THEN INSIDE.
WE DO HAVE SOME RAIN IN THE FORECAST.
YOU ARE RIGHT IN THAT WHEN YOU WANT SOMETHING WHY WAIT?  LIFE IS SHORT AND WE ARE NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER.
I WATCHED LONGMIRE TONIGHT TOO.  I LIKE IT AND SO FAR MOM IS OK WITH MY WATCHING IT AND RIZZOLI AND ISLES.  I USUALLY DO NOT ASK ABOUT ANY OTHER SHOWS.  I HAVE A TENDENCY TO FORGET WHAT NIGHTS THINGS ARE ON.
MAY NOT GET THE CHANCE TO COME ON TOMORROW.  IF NOT I WILL SEE YOU ON WED.
HUGS,
