Happy Birthday, America!
Wow! You've been busy! Wonderful new July Skins ~
thank you so much for doing that for us.
Thank you! I'm so glad you like my cards. I've done
several that came in kits or that Kathy made up for me
to assemble, but these were completely my own "design"
~~ not that I didn't borrow ideas from Pinterest! Ha.
I fell in love with the butterfly embossing folder and I
could actually "see" the card I wanted to make with it ~
maybe I'm not as creatively dead as I have thought. I
envisioned it with a more frilly, cut out yellow butterfly,
but the dies I have are too big and a frilly butterfly
made from them would have overwhelmed my little card.
I still haven't given up hope of getting one the right
size. You know those of us born under the sign of the
crab are nothing if not tenacious. Ha. I can also "see"
this card with in other colors, including all white with
perhaps a Sympathy sentiment, or maybe white with a
black or purple border sympathy card.
I'm sure you did see the other card before. I posted it
earlier without the Thank You sentiment, but I wanted to
post it again because it looks so much more finished with
the sentiment added. It's entirely 'mine'. The bottom
third is cut from a sheet of 12 x 12 designer paper
(which has a different design on the other side). Then I
added two strips of Washi Tape in coordinating colors
and a little heart embellishment that was from a kit that
I didn't use.
It's supposed to get to 93 today here, with maybe a
10% chance of rain ~ which may mean we'll have a gully
washer ~ lol. The Block Party starts at 5:30. It's
gonna be soooo hot out there!
Too bad you have to go out on your two hottest days. Do
me a favor and give your eye Dr Hell for me, will you?
Good luck with your INR and getting back on an every
four or five week schedule!
Laugh ~ we've said the same thing. We need have full
time 'help' to cook and clean for us. Wouldn't that be
loverly? Well, yes, UNTIL you start to think about
having someone else living with you 24/7. Ayiieee! LOL!
How nice for your mom to be able to travel and for Diane
to take her. I'm sure she will have a lovely time, and
I hope that you can enjoy your time apart too. I'm
so glad to hear your new anti depressant is working well!
Josh's new girl is cute, but I hope more that she is
really nice and is good for and to him. Interesting
about the previous one "stalking" and wanting him back.
I can't blame her for that, he's a keeper, but I
suspect if he did go back to her, she wouldn't feel he
was her 'true love' after all.
Fireworks are illegal here, even sparklers, so how come
they were going off all around us last night? First it
sounded like light hail on the roof, though it wasn't
raining. Mike said "Firecrackers". Oh. Ok. but then
there were the Sonic Booms! Not too many and they
didn't go too late, but I wonder what tonight will bring.
I really don't care as long as the loud ones don't go all
night, and nobody is sending up things that can come
down on our house and start a fire.
You remember a few years ago we had one of the Pine
trees in the back yard "Vista Trimmed" because it was
getting close to blocking our view of Denver. We thought
that would give us years before we had to worry about
it. Well, not so. It caused a growth spurt, and now it
really is blocking our view! If we'd realized, we could
have had it vista trimmed again last Fall when the other
Pines in the neighborhood that needed trimming, including
ours in front, were trimmed by the HOA. The HOA
wouldn't pay for the Vista Trim, but it would cost us a
lot less to do it when they were out here than to have
them come just for us, but that's what we need to do ~~
If and when they can fit us into their schedule. Phooey.
While the lower part of that tree has bad spots, the
top with the new growth looks glorious as it blocks our
Last night Mike grilled brats and we will have them again
tonight. Everything was delicious. We can still see the
fireworks from Denver and the surrounding towns, just
not as well as last year. And so goes our very quiet
Fourth of July celebration.
Mike hasn't been feeling the best so he sent our regrets
for the Fourth of July Block party. I did think about
going to the Block Party for just a few minutes, perhaps
bringing cookies or something, but then there would be all
the questions and explanations and offers for me to bring
back plates of food, and the more I thought about it,
the less I wanted to. Grumpy Old Hermit, I am.
God Bless America! Please??
