RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/01/2017 1:32 AM)

LORD I WISH I HAD SEEN THAT SPECIAL.  I REALLY LOVE DEBBIE REYNOLDS.  I SO LOVE SINGING IN THE RAIN AND TAMMY AND OTHERS.  I TOLD MOM ONE I REALLY LIKED AND HAVE NOT SEEN IN A LONG TIME WAS BUNDLE OF JOY. DO YOU REMEMBER THAT ONE. IT WAS WITH EDDIE FISHER.  SHE WAS THE ULTIMATE GIRL NEXT DOOR.  THEN I LOVED CARRIE FISHER BECAUSE OF STAR WARS AND MORE.  BY THE WAY...IT IS CALLED A LIGHT SABER. LOL.  IN STAR WARS SHE WAS A HEROINE...WHETHER AS A PRINCESS, SLAVE GIRL OR GENERAL....I LOVE HER.  SHE HAD SO MUCH WIT.  SHE OVER CAME SO MUCH IN HER LIFE.  SHE IS MY AGE.  BORN THE SAME MONTH AND YEAR.  I WAS REELING FROM HER DEATH AND WONDERING WHY SO MANY PEOPLE DIE TOO YOUNG AND THINKING OF DEBBIE AND HOW NO MOTHER SHOULD HAVE TO SEE HER CHILDREN DIE.  THEN I HEARD THAT DEBBIE HAD FOLLOWED HER DAUGHTER INTO THE BEYOND.  HOW BEAUTIFUL AND HOW SAD.  WHAT A GREAT LOSS FOR THE WORLD.  YOU KNOW DEBBIE HAD THE LARGEST HOLLYWOOD MEMORABILIA COLLECTION IN THE WORLD.  SO MANY TRIED TO HELP HER WITH IT RATHER THAN JUST SEE SO MANY ICONIC ITEMS JUST DISAPPEAR INTO OBLIVION.  IT WILL BE WEIRD WHEN I SEE THE NEWEST START WARS MOVIE  ROGUE ONE AND SEE CARRIE IN IT.  SHE IS A GENERAL NOW AND HER HUSBAND, HAN SOLO WAS KILLED IN THE LAST MOVIE BY THEIR SON WHO HAS GONE TO THE DARK SIDE WITH HIS GRANDFATHER DARTH VADER.  OH WELL. I STILL CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT BUT IT WILL BE SAD TOO.
WE HAD NO PLANS FOR TONIGHT.  MOM SWITCHED AROUND ON TV JUMPING FROM THIS TO THAT.  I WAS WORKING ON OUR SKIN AND PAGE. AND MOM HELPED A BIT TOO.
I DID FINISH OFF THE BOTTLE OF WINE I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS. NOW I AM ALL WARM AND TOASTY, LOL.  I SHOULD GO TO BED. ESPECIALLY SINCE I CAN NO LONGER SEE, LOL.
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY DEAR SISTER/FRIEND.
HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/01/2017 11:55 AM)

You have been busy!  Lovely new skin and great new January sing in thread!   Everything looks beautiful.

Thank you for the beautiful new tag!

2017 is not starting off well for us.   I hope it is for you!

On a more positive note, Kathy (my Stampin Up Demonstrator/Team Leader) stopped by yesterday afternoon, all full of apologizes for stopping by without calling first.   She brought me the 2017 card (above) and a Rolodex for which she had made separators for each month so I can put all the people who have birthdays or anniversaries or whatever along with their address behind each month's separator.  So cute!  She also brought some new card glue she found and liked and a candy bar!  What a nice surprise, and we had a really nice visit.

We stayed up WAY past midnight.   One of our smoke alarms has a low battery and it's too tall (9' ceiling) for us to change it out. You can't poke it and just turn it off, either.  I'm sure that's some City of Arvada Code, and I wish a pox upon the houses of the arrogant city officials who inflicted this on us.   It set off a piercing alarm  every minute all night long, with a woman telling us every 10 minutes that we have Low battery, and that is still going on!   We've ordered new batteries (the ones we had on hand are slightly outdated) and we've made arrangements for a handyman to come and replace all of the batteries in the whole house next week after the new batteries come in.  Until then . . . .    God help us.    Anyway, we were awake until we finally fell into an exhausted sleep.

Mike is making biscuits and gravy for breakfast 'as we speak'.

I was a huge Debbie Reynolds fan too.  Someone put up a video of her singing Tammy that first day, and I got tears in my eyes.  I do remember Bundle of Joy, and probably all the other movies she made.

Light saber ~ I knew that, but of course I couldn't remember it.  ha.  Lily is so tiny and she was having such fun with it.  cute

I haven't seen any of the recent Star Wars movies, though we saw all the early ones.

Happy, happy New Year, and I wish you all good things in 2017.

Blessed Silence!

You know us well enough to know that we'd both rather cut off a toe than ask for help, but that smoke detector has been going off with the most  horrible, piercing screech EVERY MINUTE since 10 PM last night, and that awful woman has been telling us that we have low battery every 10 minutes or so.  It's now 3 PM

If I'd had a gun, I would have shot the darned thing!   Since I didn't, Mike called John and asked for help.   He was here for about 15 minutes, and we have enjoyed Blessed Silence ever since.

Ahhhhhh.

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/02/2017 1:11 AM)

Until I read your little added note I thought, how in the hell are they going to deal with that noise for a couple of days.  I knew I could not and I can only hear from one ear...hearing it in two would be horrendous.  I am so glad you got it fixed and I pray no others go off before the handyman and batteries come. :)

How lovely that you had a surprise visit, and that you were dressed, lol.  She came baring gifts, can't get much better than that and it was a nice visit on top of it all.  The card is cool. Is the happy written with a paint pen or is it string or something?

I looked up Debbie Reynolds movies and was so surprised that there were so many I never heard of.  It also reminded me of ones I knew but had not thought of in a long time. I know I have The Unsinkable Molly Brown somewhere. I saw it recently, so am betting it is in the back room by the computer.

I am back to not feeling good again. I got up 3x last night and the 2nd time I would normally have gotten up but I went back in my room and went to sleep again.  The next time I got up it was 12:30pm so I stayed up, but had trouble staying awake and I keep zoning out, doing and thinking about nothing.  I do not like that at all.  And the pain was back and I am still eating blueberries, but maybe because of the long period of sleep and
no berries eaten and I need to drink more water.  I do not want to have to go to the doctor, but if something does not change soon then I will have to.  So I have written and put the ladies off for a week.
Chat with you tomorrow my friend.
Hugs,

\

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/02/2017 10:22 AM)

Good Morning.

No, we don't have snow yet, in fact it's going to be 50 today, but cold and snow are coming.   Now they have changed the forecast to show snow on Wednesday and I have a haircut scheduled for Wednesday morning.  I hope I don't have to cancel because my hair has really gotten long and NEEDS to be cut!

We plan to take the Christmas tree down today, and I'd like to at least transfer funds from our bank accounts.  I'd also like to place a Stampin Up order, because I get a free item for every so many $$ I spend, but only through tomorrow.  That all ought to keep me off the streets.  ;-)

The 2017 card Kathy made had "happy" as a separate cut out in black script.  It doesn't show up well in the picture.

In the interview with Todd Fisher, he said that "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" was Debbie's favorite of her movies.  It was the most like her, or the way she saw herself.

I'm so sorry that infection Has you!  It sounds so miserable.  I would think drinking a lot of water would be a must, to try to flush it out ~ but of course I don't really know.  Do you think the blueberries are helping?   Good luck!!

I love my new tag, and your great border too.  Thank you!

Happy New Year??  ;-)

No snow here either and I have not checked the weather forecast in a while so I do not know what is coming.  Maybe I should take a peak.  Nah, I would rather be surprised.  Mom is good at telling me what the weather will be but she has not done it in a while.  Yay for me.
Our tree will stay up another week or two as we want it up for the ladies and that will be next week sometime. Then we will start taking all the ornaments and the tree apart.  To get it back in the box we need one of the boys.
Have fun shopping for stamping supplies.  Hope you got something fun.  I cannot wait to hear what you chose.  Good luck with your hair cut, I hope it is right for you.  It had to be hard to find the right hairdresser;  As a child through high school, my aunts cut my hair at family functions. In high school I kept it long. Then as a senior I wanted to cut it, but did not have the money so Gary gave me a hair cut for my birthday.  My hair was halfway down my back.  I told her I wanted it cut about 2-3 inches all over, the same length all over.  She said she did not think it would look right. She even called over the head of the salon and she said that if that was what I wanted, then do it. So she did and it looked really cute. It waved and curled and looked great.  So much for the hairdresser.  The next time I got it cut was Louann and no one has cut it since.  I have had so many hairstyles.  Even and afro for Louann and Bruce's wedding. I wanted to cut it but they insisted I keep it long. I lost weight and wanted to look good. But I did not like my hair, it needed to be cut. Someday I will find my photo albums and show you some pics.  I would love to see pics of you and Mike when you were younger.  How about a wedding shot?
I am going to have to watch Unsinkable. It has been a long time and it is a VHS movie, but we can do that, lol.  I personally have always loved Singing in the Rain.  I have seen it many times.
Good Bye Debbie and Carrie...I loved your movies and your gave me hours of entertainment.  I love the cartoon you posted with Princess Leia and Debbie in her raincoat from SITR.
This is the Chinese Year of the Fire Rooster!
Big hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/03/2017 10:10 AM)

Good Morning.

We had fairly nice weather lately, but the times, they are a-changin'.   We will only have a "high" of 30 today, which I do believe is below freezing ~ and then it gets worse!   We expect a "high" of 23 tomorrow and 13 on Thursday, with snow on both days!   I'm just hoping the snow holds off until after my haircut tomorrow because I really NEED a haircut!

We got the decorations off of the tree and the mantle yesterday and we will finish putting everything away in the garage today.  Otherwise I have some way overdue letters (emails) I need to write ~ and as always, a zillion things that I know I should do but won't.   And so it goes.   I did get the funds transferred and the checking and savings books balanced.   We won't even talk about the Budget Book.   I think I'm just going to start all over "from scratch".  Sigh.

I did place a Stampin Up order last night ~~ you knew I would.  Ha!   Today is the last day to take advantage of some of the freebies, and who am I to ignore freebies (sort of like "gift with purchase")?   Now I wait for my goodies to come.  At least that and my new books may keep me off of Facebook!   I follow all these political news folks there, and get mad when I go in.   So why don't I un-follow?   Well, gee.  I might MISS something.  LOL!

I should attach a couple of videos of the new Stampin Up catalog for you to see.  It might be fun just to see what they have now.   I may not be a great card maker, but I am a fantastic Shopper and Watcher of Videos.  LOL

I'd love to see those earlier pictures of you.    I know I have a wedding pic of us around here somewhere.  We weren't kids even then, though.

35.5 years ago ~

Your snowy background is lovely ~~ and so is my new tag and the border that I will steal!  Thank you

Shiela, in the other group, missed the 20/20 Debbie/Carrie episode and wanted to see it, too.  She found it is on OnDemand.   I don't know if you get that, but I thought I would mention it just in case.

The new season of Murdock Mysteries has started on Acorn, so we watched the first two episodes (or one episode, parts 1 & 2) last night.  Lovely to have it back for a while.    They have been having an Alfred Hitchcock 'marathon' over the New Year (on Turner, I think), and Mike recorded several of our favorites so we can watch them anytime, or at least until we need the space on our DVR and have to let them go.   We watched "The Birds" yesterday.  Fun.

I knew you would love that cartoon.   I did too.

Have a happy day, and stay warm!

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/04/2017 12:42 AM)

Today was quite dull and the sky looked like snow, but we never got any.  Just dullness.  That  is how I feel too.  I almost called my Dr. today.  But decided to let it go a little longer. I do not want an antibiotic screwing my INR up again.
Sigh....what to do, what to do.
Good for you for getting the tree and mantle done.  Ours will be up another week and more. It is ok. I love looking at the tree.  Since the Curio cabinet never for changed over to moms blue and white snowmen, it will be a lot less work.
I am the opposite of you, I hardly get any world news anymore. I had to stop reading the newspaper when my eye was so bad.  I never started reading it again. I should. Mom only wants to watch the news when she hears something that interests her.  Yaya!
You will have to tell me if you got anything good from Stamp'n Up. I tried to do one of the gift tags you sent me and it was bad.  I hate these glasses and am going to have to get myself some progressive glasses as soon as I can afford it.  that might be a while but I can wait.
Now that I see that picture I remember you showing me it before.  Your hairdo sure dates it, lol.  You and Mike sure made a cute couple.  How old were you both when you married?  I hope I find some pics soon that Is can share with you.  I can probably find my 50th birthday album that Louann made me with a little help from the family.
Yay, we have On Demand.  I will check it out.  We do not watch any series on Net Flix.  Damn, I just looked and Net Flix only has the opening episode of Reign.  I will watch it as I did not see the beginning. But now I need to look for somewhere else I can find it to watch.
Well, time to be moving on.  Chat with you tomorrow my dear sisterfriend.  Love you!
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/04/2017 10:31 AM)

Good Morning.

Winter has arrived in Colorado ~ big time!   It's currently 11 degrees, planning on warming to 23.  Snow is supposed to start around 11 AM and continue all day and all night!

I had a haircut at 10, and I was hoping the snow would hold off until I get back home, but it didn't.  It isn't snowing hard, but it started snowing lightly around a quarter to 8 and because it's so cold I know it's freezing!  I just called Laurie and cancelled my haircut and rescheduled it for next Wednesday.

We are expecting the long life batteries for the smoke detectors in the mail today and assuming we can get to our mailbox,  we expect the guy who will install them to come from Evergreen tomorrow morning.  If the batteries don't get here tonight, or if the handyman doesn't want to come from Evergreen for such a small job, we'll have to postpone.  That isn't a big deal, of course, but it leaves us with uncertainty.

I did order quite a lot from the new Stampin Up catalog.  Where on earth I am going to put the things I ordered I haven't a clue, but that's a whole 'nuther issue.    It may be delayed a bit because the whole Stampin Up system is down right now!   Talk about bad timing.  Today is the day they are releasing the new Occasions Catalog to the general public, or WERE.  I know they are scrambling,

There are cute videos of several of the things I have ordered, but I'd rather show you then entire catalog.  Unfortunately, the videos I've seen from Demonstrators have a lot more "talk" than you would want to hear.   I'll keep looking and see if I can't find something to share that you might find interesting.

I was afraid those gift tags were going to be too small and hard to do with your eye.  They just looked so "You" to me that I couldn't resist.     One of the things I bought is a stamp set called Mediterranean Moments that has four scenes that need to be pencil colored or water colored.   I can't show them to you now because the site is down, but it did occur to me that I could just stamp the scenes on  white card stock and send them to you to color, if you would like.  Since I wouldn't know what colors you would want to use, I would just send the white card with the scene, rather than a card in colored card stock and a separate scene on a square of white card stock for you to glue on.   When I can get the images from the Website, I'll share and you can let me know if you'd like me to send any or all of them once I get the stamps.   I also got a lovely lighthouse stamp that I want to make for Mike.  He loves lighthouses.   I don't know how else to share with you.  :-(

Well, it's time to start thinking about breakfast.

Have a happy day, and stay warm!

^-^

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:01/05/2017 11:10 AM)

Good Morning!

I'm so sorry you can't get online.  You can get in facebook, but not other places??

Oh, yes.  We've got snow, and bitter cold.  It's currently 1 degree heading for a "high" of 8!   We have 7.5 inches so far and it's still coming down.  It actually doesn't look as bad as the last big snow, but bad enuf.  Much higher totals in the High Country, and they are happy with that.

Basically everything went well yesterday.  I did cancel my haircut and rescheduled for next Wednesday.  Then everything we had ordered including the batteries came in, and our wonderful mail lady delivered it to our door, and early because she was anxious to get home before the storm hit.   Only one family that I can see has set their trash can out today, and we haven't either.  They usually come early, but I expect them to be late today, or not come at all.

I am surprised that "the guy" is here as we speak, changing out our batteries.  We thought he might cancel, but we were ready "just in case" and he called and said he'd be about half an hour late, and he was here right on the dot.    Shogun and I are "hiding" in the morning room, because I didn't want him to be trapped in a room all alone with that horrible noise going off and him being scared and alone.  When he sees that I am in the room with him and not upset, he'll be ok.

News is sad today.  Apparently there is a large homeless "camp" here with many folks sleeping outside in makeshift protections.  It's so bitterly cold.     Then over the weekend a six year old "special needs" boy wandered away from home, and his body was found yesterday in a frozen pond.  Precious little guy.  On the National News, four black teens beat and tortured a white "Special needs" teenage boy, who was later found wandering around completely traumatized.   How do we know it was four black teens who did it?  Because they videotaped the whole thing and contacted the boy's parents to show it to them and then posted it in Social Media.   All the while they were saying they hated Trump and hated all white people.   How entitled ARE all these "minority" people to do such outrageous things and not fear the consequences?    They might be charged with a hate crime.   MIGHT be?   Aarrgh.

I want so very much to be 100% behind my President-to-be, but he definitely challenges me sometimes. LOL And so it goes with the news of the day.

I never watch any of the NBC news programs preferring actual news to Liberal Spin, but this morning I was watching the local news on NBC for weather reports and before I changed the channel the Today Show came on, starring Matt Lauer and . . . . Katie Couric??  Shock and Awe!  I thought I was in a Time Warp.  lol

Handiman just left.  He was here for an hour and charged $65, which I thought was quite reasonable.  It sure meant a lot to us!  He also changed out all the lightbulbs in our ceiling lamp in the bedroom.   I picked Shogun up to take him to the bedroom so he could change out the battery in the Morning Room, and the handiman petted him ~ and Shogun hissed at both of us!   Do not hold me, and especially hold me and let someone else pet me!  Snarl!  LOL

RE:WELCOME TO JANUARY CHAT

 Hello

Did I mention we got snow?   Once again, Arvada led the pack of Metro Denver cities with 10 inches.   I'm just shocked when Arvada shows up in a News report.  I often feel that the news doesn't realize that Arvada exists because it's so hard to find out things like snow totals.  Guess it's unavoidable when we get the most snow.  Ha.
Our snow shovelers came again in the afternoon after the snow stopped and it looks like they shoveled in front of the mailbox this time.  I hope they connected a path from the driveway to the mailbox, or we will again have snow mountain to traverse to get the mail.

We had decided that we would put everything into a large trash bag and then drive down to the end of the driveway and throw it out, but we ultimately decided to just leave it and take it out next week with the trash accumulated during the coming week.     Then in the late afternoon I got a call from Jake next door saying "I see you don't have your trash out.  Would you like me to take it out for you?"    Barb did that the last time we didn't take it out.  I complain because our neighbors are too aware of what we are doing, but honestly, how blessed we are.  I hate to always be the one on the receiving side, but the fact is that Mike and I really can't do much for others anymore, so we accept their kindness ~ with a bit of embarrassment.  So I just opened the garage door and he took our trash to the curb, and then asked if I'd gotten the mail.  "No" said I ~ so he did that, too.    He always brings our can back up to the garage for us too, so all I have to do is open the garage door and pull it in.

They should have picked up our trash yesterday, but they didn't.  Most folks didn't even take their cans to the curb until last night.  Understandable.  It was pretty bad out and the roads must have been close to impassible in many places.  Here the city doesn't shovel the side streets until we have 12 inches, but this year they have been shoveling down the center of our street, which really is a funny kind of through street.  Our neighbors on the side streets don't get shoveled at all.   Has to make it hard for the trash men!

When I got up this morning it was 4 degrees BELOW zero, and we may reach the mid 20s above by afternoon.  By next week, we should be back in the 60s!  We exemplify that old saying "If you don't like the weather here, just wait a minute".  lol

 btu
I'm back!!!  Kermit is having a hard time with my lappy. He thinks the hard drive may be shot :( if so, he can find a way to  get any info off it. Since he sold me the computer he said he will charge me for either the hard drive or the labor but not both.  Then I told him about my back up crappy dell and he thinks that sounds as if I fried the hard drive by overheating it. I disagreed because I have a really good cooling fan but maybe it did. I did not feel anything hot or smell it either.  So then he said you want a back up laptop, I have several here that are low priced.  So after getting off the phone mom and I discussed it and she said she would pay for it for now so I have money for the repair of current one.  So I called him back and he said the only thing wrong with the one for 100 was a couple dings in the top when it is closed and that it had a larger screen than my current.  I said that was a plus. I would take it.  A few minutes later he called back and said I forgot to tell you it is Windows 10. I said not a problem. So here I am. But I have no tags on this computer.  Snagged a few from Photo Bucket.
We are experiencing the frigid cold to and a Snow Storm is coming but at not sure when. I have had to put snuggy socks on to stay warm in my room. there is no basement below half my room. The floor gets mighty cold.
I am glad your batteries and the guy to install them all came on time. I would have rescheduled my hair appt too.  I ended up rescheduling my INR to next Tues as I woke feeling crappy and it's just too damn cold to go out, lol.
I look forward to you showing me things in the new catalog.  I think the problem with coloring the tags was mostly because of my bifocals. If I look to the side I see things at a different distance and then I see the lines and edges and they do not match up. As soon as I save up enough money I am going to get a pair of progressive.  I play Draw Something on my Ipad with my family and the same problem is happening there and it never did before the bifocals.
Arvada really did get heaps of snow.  I hope we do not get the same. I would rather not deal with it. You can only postpone an INR so many times, lol.
You and Mike have always had the best luck in your neighbors.  Maybe you could make up some little thank you gifts, like a couple packs of hot chocolate and a couple cookies with a lovely handmade card.  I am sure your "helpers" would love it and you would feel better since you did something kind in return. Your neighbors are good neighbors, noticing when something is wrong or needs to be taken care of.  You will never be that house where someone came and murdered you both and no one found out for weeks or months.
I finally caved and wrote Denise for an order to have my urine tested. I did the test this morning and Jordan ran it to the Lab.  Now for the funny part. As of today it no long hurts when I pee and I have had no leakage or frequency.  I think the blue berries finally worked, lol.  Who knows when I will hear about the results of the urine test. Oh well.
I am going to say good night. I keep falling asleep typing and end up with some really wild words typed in here.
Thanks for being patient with me sisterfriend.
I love you!
