RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/20/2017 1:53 AM)

ST PAT'S IS ANOTHER SHORT TIME FOR USING TAGS, BUT THEN, I DO NOT HAVE VERY MANY ST PAT TAGS.  SO WILL SEE WHAT I FIND.
CHRIS AND SCOTT SEEMED TO SETTLE WHEN I DID AND HAVE NOT HEARD A WORD OUT OF THEM.  PURE SILENCE!!
NO I HAVE NOT SEEN DESIGNATED SURVIVOR NOR 24, POLITICAL THRILLERS ARE NOT MY CUP OF TEA. NEVER HAVE BEEN.
I WATCHED "A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE INCIDENTS" THERE WERE 8 PARTS TO THE SEASON.  I WAS ATTRACTED BECAUSE NEIL PATRICK HARRIS STARS IN IT AND PRODUCES IT.  IT IS VERY QUIRKY AND ODD.  I DO NOT KNOW WHERE IT TELEVISED BUT IF SEASON 2 SHOWS UP, I DO NOT THINK I WILL WATCH IT.  I AM ALSO WATCHING A SERIES CALLED "SECRET CIRCLE" AND IT IS ABOUT WITCHES AND REGULAR AND BLACK MAGIC.  PRETTY DARN SCARY AT TIMES.  GOING WITH NAN TO FAUSKA'S TO WATCH "REIGN" ON TUESDAY.
I SLEPT MOST OF THE DAY.  WOKE UP A COUPLE TIMES AND WENT BACK TO SLEEP.  NEXT THING I KNOW IT IS 2 PM.  I GOT UP BUT WHEN I WENT ON THE COMPUTER I KEPT FALLING BACK ASLEEP.  I THINK THIS IS MY DEPRESSION, WHEN I WAKE UP I JUST W MIANT TO GO BACK TO SLEEP.  EVENTUALLY I GET UP, BUT IT TAKES A LOT OF WILL POWER.   BUT I THINK I AM WINNING.
FROEDTERT IS IN MILWAUKEE AND IT IS WHERE SHE HAD HER SURGERY.  THIS IS JUST A CHECK UP OF THE LEG AND THEY WILL DETERMINE WHETHER SHE CAN PUT WEIGHT ON THAT LEG OR NOT.  IF SHE CAN, THEN MAYBE SHE WILL BE COMING HOME SOME TIME SOON.   AGAIN TODAY SHE SOUNDED WONDERFUL.  SHE GOT NUMBERS ALL MESSED UP BUT WHO DOESN'T?  LOL
I DO NOT KNOW IF I HAVE EVER SEEN "A NUN'S STORY".  I DO NOT THINK SO.  WHEN I FINISH SECRET CIRCLE I AM GOING TO GIVE MISS FISHER A TRY.  THE COSTUMES ATTRACT ME.
CHAT WITH YOU TOMORROW.

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/20/2017 8:27 AM)

Mornin' Glory.

Another night with two hours sleep.  If I didn't fall asleep watching tv so much during the day, I'd probably go insane.  I keep nagging at you to go to bed earlier, but I've decided you're the smart one.  At least you get a good block of sleep all at once, even if it is during the day.

Good that Chris and Scott toned it down so you could get some sleep!

I do have a lot of St Pat's tags but I think I'll wait for a while to start using them.

We finished binge watching Designated Survivor yesterday.  Very intense and finished with a Cliff Hanger.  The new season starts March 8th.  I really do prefer binge watching to watching one new episode every week, but we may have to watch at least the first one because of the cliff hanger.

I think you would enjoy both Miss Fisher and Murdoch, especially the early Murdochs.  He is way ahead of his time, and uses all sorts of forensics that we are very familiar with today, but were still unheard of in the 1800s.  When you see the female coroner dipping her bare hands into a body and handling the organs, then just rinsing her hands in a basin, it really gives you a start.   It's bright and clever, with a good cast.

Miss Fisher only has a few seasons, and so far hasn't come back on.  I haven't heard whether it will or not.  You'll recognize her Aunt Prudence.  You will love her wardrobe and her outrageous behavior.

Thanks for clarifying.  Once again I was confused about where your mom would be.  I certainly have my fingers crossed for good news, and her continued mental clarity!

A Nun's Story was from the late 50s.  I didn't really love it back then, but it caught me this time and I stayed with it.  It takes Audrey Hepburn from joining the Convent as a young postulate hoping to go into nursing and serve in the Congo.  Made me think of my neighbor, Barb.  I don't know if any of the orders have such strict rules any more.  This took place before WWII in Belgium.  At least half of the movie was her struggle with becoming a Nun, and then finally going to the Congo and working, coming back to Belgium as the War broke out.   Not 'fun', but interesting.   I don't think I need to see it for another 50 years . . . but I'm glad I watched yesterday.  ;-)

73 degrees today, but with high winds.  Does that qualify as summer?   But wait.  They are predicting the high 60s tomorrow, and SNOW on Thursday!  Gotta love Colorado.

We are having some nasty brush fires that because of the winds have spread to some structures and caused evacuations.  I also saw a report of a man literally blown off of a trail in Rocky Mountain Park and injured, fortunately not life threatening, but still  . .
I've said it before, but what we call "the winds", other people call tornados or hurricanes.   Ok, not quite, but almost!

Another slightly over 2 hour sleep last night.  That's four in a row.  If I weren't falling asleep in front of the TV during the day, I'd probably go insane.  Who knows ~ maybe I already have.   Mike slept better last night.  I was both glad and jealous ~ lol.  Shogun, on the other hand is still sleeping under the covers.  Oh, how I envy him!

Have a lovely day!

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/22/2017 10:28 AM)

Good Morning!  Time for coffee and a visit.

smiley23

We were planning to go to Kathy's to make cards yesterday, but with the nearly a week of only very little sleep, I begged off.   I think it was a good decision.   I did make two Sympathy cards to have on hand and they took me a lot longer than I had thought they would.   Guess I don't know how to estimate the time.

I actually got a good night's sleep last night ~ kind of by accident!   I'd felt ok all day, but close to time for lights out I started that dry throat coughing again, and feared I would keep Mike up all night if I didn't go up front to sit up for the night.   I can't tell you how much I didn't want to, and Mike insisted we watch one more episode of "Murdoch" to see if the cough wouldn't go away.   I took a Benedryl, wishing rather than hoping it would help, and by the time the tv show was over, I thought I would at least try to sleep and if i couldn't I'd go up front.   I slept.    Hooray!

Hope all is well with you.

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/23/2017 1:22 AM)

I lost my way here for a bit. Sleeping on and off all the time.  I get nothing done.  So lets get started.

I watched the first "Miss Fisher Mysteries" and was not impressed.  But I am going to give it another go.  She certainly is a wild woman, lol.  The clothes certainly are awesome. So I hope I like the next one better.  I have not tried Murdoch yet.

Thanks for the description of "A Nuns Story"  I now know I have never seen it and do not know if I ever will.  Is Barb at home now?  Has she been on any trips lately or has she had some relaxing time off?

We have had record breaking warm weather which really put a damper on Sturgeon spearing season.  We are expecting snow Thur night!  Speaking of Thursday, guess who is babysitting for Maxie again?  Well of course it is me, because I do not know how to say no.  But at least I feel a bit better than last week, and she is coming at 7:45 instead of 7:15. I can try to sleep a little longer.  Chris said she will do some laundry and some more dusting tomorrow.  So she will be in an out.  Mom also goes to see her surgeon so I will be waiting to hear from her on the outcome.  Please pray that the bone has healed enough that shdoe will be allowed to put weight on that leg.

I did not hear about the brush fires.  I hope that none get out of control.  Are they close to you at all?  That freaks me off that someone was blown off a trail.  What if it had been really high and he was blown off a steep cliff like area.  I used to like hiking along a lake or in an area not too high and inner...not near edges.  The older I get, the more fearful of heights I am.

That is too bad you were too tired to the stamping get together. You would have had a great time.  I need to get off to sleep.

Chat with you tomorrow.

Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT

Good Morning.

Ok.  I was beginning to wonder if I offended?  Did I forget to put on my antiperspirant?     I see you came back with a lovely present for me, so it would appear that we are alright.  lol   Thank you for the pretty!

Sorry you didn't like Miss Fisher.   You might want to try another one as you said.   I'd suggest you start watching Murdoch from the first episodes, if you do watch it.

It's a pretty gray day today.  Our foray into early Summer is over for a while.  It will barely get above freezing today and with a 20% chance of snow by late afternoon.

I'm sure you don't watch Fox, but I'll share this anyway. This morning I was shocked to see that Liberal commentator Alan Colmes has died at age 67.   I haven't seen any details, just some near tearful eulogies by his colleagues at Fox.   Only a few days ago Brenda Buttner (Bulls and Bears) died of cancer.  She was only in her 50s.   I hope these things don't come in threes.  I have watched ~ and yelled at ~ Alan for years, particularly when he and Conservative Sean Hannity had a show together, and watched Brenda occasionally.  Both were shocks to me.  Sad news to go with our gray day.

Are you babysitting today?   I hope they brought Maxie's meals for you to give her.   "You're just a gal who can't say no!"  (in my best Doris Day voice)  lol    I'm sure you enjoy her, but it tires me to think of it.   I'm such a wuss.  LOL

I love that Chris is actually doing some things to help you keep everything up.

Oh, yes.  I will definitely pray for your mom!

We have fairly often over the years had semi's blow over, and more than once onto a car in the adjacent lane in our high winds!  This is the first time I'd ever heard of someone being blown off a cliff.  VERY fortunately it must not have been too far a fall.  He broke his leg and had a few other injuries, but when you think of how much worse it could have been . . .    Some of those trails have steep seemingly endless drop offs.
No, the fires aren't near us.  They have been really bad, but of course could be much worse as they have in the past.

I'm not sure what today holds for us.   Shauna comes tomorrow.

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/24/2017 5:26 PM)

Good Afternoon

I'm so late to the party that I won't even take a drink or a canape.   Shauna came a little late this morning.  She is fighting a sore throat and a cough, and I hope she didn't 'share'.    We visited quite a bit.

Yesterday afternoon we had a full blown blizzard.   It was that little fine snow and for part of the time you could barely see across the street.  It snowed more, again that fine stuff, overnight and this morning which kind of altered some of our plans to do some shopping.  Now it seems to be over and I'd guess we have about 2 inches.   It isn't even getting close to freezing ~ in the low 20s, but the walks and driveway appear to be pretty clear.

Mike is having a gout attack in his wrist and has been in quite a lot of pain.  For some reason he doesn't want to call his Dr for a prescription of the steroids that help it, so he's relying on Advil and at my encouragement, a little aspirin.  It seems somewhat better now.  I hope it doesn't last too long.

I read your post on Facebook.  I'm so sorry your mom won't be able to come home for maybe six weeks.   I know how disappointing that must be to everyone, but it probably isn't actually that surprising.  As long as she is ultimately completely healed, that's the main thing.

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/25/2017 3:20 AM)

Oh yes, I babysat Maxie...9 long hours on 3 hours of sleep.  It was a long day and no, they did not send a lunch with her.  This time her father was in Mexico on vacation.  Which seems to be true as he texted to say they survived the earth quake.  I really would not mind so much if I did not feel as if I were being used.
Mom called me and was all in a huff about the staff and when I did not necessarily agree with her she got all huffy.  So I had to make peace and the next thing you know she is crying. She is still not sleeping well.  She had asked for Tylenol at 7:10 and it was not 9:15 and she never got it. She had another argument with "that Asian nurse" who is actually a therapist.  Then she started crying about having to be in this dump for another 6 months.  I said I do not think it is a dump and she said no, not really but I want to go home".  I said I know and that is what I want, so we just have to keep trying to do what we need to until we can be together again and she said I know.
I wish I could know if the 2 hrs waiting for a pain med was true, but I cannot say it is for sure. I just know it hurts me so much to hear her cry and I cannot be there or give her a hug.  It hurts so much.
I did give Miss Fisher a 2nd chance and now I am hooked.  Though she is a bit promiscuous for me, lol.  I am such a prude.
No, I do not know any of those political figures are.  I really do avoid politics whenever possible.  But I am always sad to hear when people have died too young.  At least they LIVED their lives.
I have seen semi's that have been blown off the roads and even blown over.  They are such big targets and it is bad when wind t-bones them.  Buy for wind to blow someone off a trail.  If I felt wind that strong I would not wander near any open cliff areas or high trails.  I would be heading inward and down, lol.
Chris came over today and she dusted the living room. She re-mopped the dining room because I spilled juice that splashed and I did not get it all mopped up, too SOB.  She also started my laundry and she was going to come back over this evening and bring it up but she never did.  I should not have given her the last 2 beers.  Serves me right.
We got about 3 inches of snow.  First it rained.  Then it snowed.  Then it rained a little and formed a hard crust on the snow making it bad for those shoveling.  Also made it icy under the snow.
Poor Mike.  My dad used to get gout and he would always blame mom saying it was the rich fatty foods and gravy she made him.  Never mind that beer is one of the biggest causes.  Though Nan gets it also.  That is unusual as it is usually men who suffer from it.  I know it is quite painful.  I hope he feels better soon.
I will be going to Fauska's for the annual Oscar Party.  I am having Louann pick up all the presents tomorrow since I missed Christmas with them.  It is all the kid gifts.  I also have to make cookies for Sunday.  I am still having trouble breathing.  My nasal passageways just keep closing up.  Going to have Suz get me some breath right strips.  I woke up this morning and I had taken my oxygen off.  I may have to use my nebulizer treatments again.
I am off to sleep now.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/25/2017 10:21 AM)

Hello
It's currently 17 degrees, heading for a "High" of 38, but no snow.  I'd say that our Summer weather is over, but I know better than that.   Just wait a week or so.  ;-)

I crashed and burned out right about dinner time, and by bedtime I was almost sick. Woogy and woozy.  I hate that feeling!   I recovered fairly quickly and we watched tv until 'lights off'.  Shauna is going to have to stop working so hard.  She's gonna kill me!

Mike is still in pain, but I think it's a bit less.  I hope this attack doesn't last long.   He used to get gout or actually something called pseudo-gout attacks quite often, but he hasn't had them very often for quite a while.  I hope they don't start again!    We used to live on low carb, and having a lot of protein is not good for gout.  Now we don't do low carb ~ as you could tell if you saw me, the human blimp ~ so I'm not sure what he may have eaten or drunk to cause it.

I'm glad you gave Miss Fisher another try.   Sometimes we have to watch a few episodes of any new show to get into it.   She is totally outrageous, and I admit I was a bit put off by her promiscuity myself at first.   I knew that even if you didn't like the mysteries, you'd love the clothes!   Was it a wee bit of a shock to recognize Aunt Prudence as Professor Sprout ~ or the other way around?   ;-)

Ooh, 9 hours of Maxie.   Given that I can't take 3 or 4 hours of Shauna working, mostly in other parts of the house, I'm pretty sure Maxie would do me in!   If this continues, I think you should at least ask them to bring her food, but I hope over time you will be able to let them know it is hard for you so at least they won't ask as often.   (hushing up, now)

What's up with Chris?   And where is your laundry?  No beer until you get everything done, ya heah?   Lol   Did she ever pay you back what she owed you?   I'm glad she is at least helping you.

Your poor mom.  How frustrating that must be, and even more if the staff doesn't follow up and do what you ask.  The patients are so vulnerable.   I can imagine how you feel hearing her cry and being unable to do anything to help her.  Really all you can do is support her via your conversations, and pray for her.  She is in my prayers, too, as are you.

I was telling Mike that you and your friends had Oscar Parties, and describing them as you have to me.   We haven't watched the Oscars in years, and I surely won't now.   I am so turned off by their politics, but they are playing to audiences who agree with them, and they won't even miss me.  I'm rather sure they haven't all these years.  lol

I use a Benzedrex Nasal Decongestent Inhaler that Mike got me when I started having stuffed nose issues.  He's used one for quite a while.  It helps ~ just a few sniffs in each nostril.  This trouble breathing issue is a real pain.  I hope you can get on top of it.

Thank you for the darling tag.  I love it!

Hugs,

Good Morning.

Is Sunday the start of a new week, or the finish of the old one?   Sadly or happily, it's pretty much all the same to me.  ;-)

Have fun at the Oscars tonight.  We won't be going.  I don't even care what they are wearing ~ or is it "who" they are wearing?  Ha.  I'll bet you have some good food and fun sharing it all with your friends.  We'd just be throwing popcorn at the screen ~ and then WE would have to clean it up!

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/27/2017 3:00 AM)

Friday was just lost into a maze of sleep that I seemed unable to escape. I slept a lot in the last 2 days and woke up today feeling worse.   11:17 and the Oscars just ended.  It was a hoot.  The Best Picture, the last award was given to the wrong movie.  The presenters were Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty as it is the 50th anniversary of Bonnie and Clyde.  Warren was to read it and he kept looking at it and looking around and he did not answer.  He showed it to Faye and she announced La La Land.  But it was the wrong card and it was actually the Best Actress card that said Emma Stone   La La Land.   They were on their third speech before they got through to them all that they had not won.  The actual winner was Moonlight and they thought it was a joke and were unsure if they should go up.  They finally did.  It was a good Oscar and Jimmy Kimmel did a great job of hosting it.    I loved the parachutes dropping out of the sky that contained theater candy.  And the tour bus that was brought through in the middle of the Oscars.  Beautiful dresses.  Metallic's were most popular shades of gold, silver, copper and more.  I did not see any tacky dresses like the swan dress in the past.
Mom is going to see her heart doctor tomorrow since her lower legs are swelling quite a bit.  A big part of that is she is not having her lower legs up enough.   But I could be wrong.  Me?  Naaaaaaa, lol.
I am on Season 2 of Miss Fisher.  She really does jump into be quite quickly with men.  Do she and the Inspector ever get all it??  They need to.  Though Phryne says she is not the marrying kind and the Inspector does not seem to be a man that would have affairs.  I am so hooked, lol.
So you crashed and burned.  That is what I feel I did last night.  Sometimes we just need it.  I think we need to start listening to our bodies and not make them do what we want.  Wish Mike would call and get the medicine he needs to make the gout better.
Chris got very helpful to me this past week. Wed she came in and got the trash and the recycling out.  She took my laundry into the entryway to the basement.  She did do it on Fri and brought me it on Sat.  Sat she and Scott bought me a Jimmy Johns sub for supper.  But she ordered it with everything which includes hot peppers.  She remembered that and came back over to warn me.  So I took them all off before they could infuse the sandwich with their poison.  And yes, they paid me back on time.
Love you lady. Chat with you tomorrow.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/27/2017 10:50 AM)

Welcome to a brand new week.  What will we make of it?

I got a good night's sleep last night, so I'm off to a good start.   It looks like it will be a pretty day, in the mid 50s.  Ah, but tomorrow is another story, and wouldn't you know it?  Mike has an appointment with his Neurologist in the morning, and it's supposed to only be in the 30s, and SNOW!  It will probably be the only day it will snow, and we have to drive across town.  Ah well.

We didn't watch the Oscars ~ again (ha), but I did see the fiasco with the wrong Best Film being announced.  How embarrassing for poor Warren Beaty and Faye Dunnaway.  The article I read said "The Russians hacked the Academy Awards".   (LOL)   Of course that was just making fun of all the Russian stuff.  I'm sure if they could have blamed Trump, they would have.   Bwahahaa.

I did also watch a clip of Viola Davis' acceptance speech, and loved it.   That's all I saw, or wanted to.   Loved seeing Denzel.  He's such a class act.

I'm delighted that you are hooked on Miss Fisher.   I wish they would make more of them, but I haven't heard anything about more on the way.

The Gout is gone, thank goodness.  Only a little residual  tenderness left, and that should quickly go.

I'm so glad Chris and Scott are looking out for you!  It's just good to know someone is near by if you need them.

I started this morning watching an old Fred Astair/Red Skelton musical, and now I'm watching the old Three Musketeers with Gene Kelly, Van Heflin, Lana Turner and June Allison ~ and a dozen other well known actors.  Kelly overacts terribly.  Somehow I didn't recognize that in my long lost youth ~ lol  Still, most enjoyable, and I haven't had the news on yet to bring me down.  :-D

Ah, sure and I thank you "bigly" (tee hee) for the lovely St Paddy's Day tag and border.   LOVE it!

Have a great day.

Sleep, that is all I do...24/7.  I get up and go to the bathroom and take a shower,I go back to my room and I fall asleep in my chair, get dressed, get my breakfast and the newspaper and sit down to eat breakfast and fell asleep.  I do that all day, wake up, try to do something and fall asleep. Louann insists that I should see the dr so I will see about making an appt tomorrow.I got breathe right strips and that helped me breath through the night.  I also got out my nebulizer and did that and that helped too. So maybe I will wait a few days to see how I do with using these regularly.

Yay, so happy the gout is done.  I do not think a med would have done it any quicker.  Double yeah that you got a good nights sleep.  That makes me happy.

It was a good Oscars.  There were a couple jokes said that were directed at Pres. Trump....like tweeting him hello from Meryl Streep.  Yes, Denzel is a class act. They brought a group through that was part of a tour bus. There was a middle aged black couple that were getting married.they asked her who her favorite star was and she pointed at Denzel and said Him!  So he came over and got between them for pictures and said I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss your bride.  It was wonderful.

LOL, Gene Kelly was certainly "bigger" than life. He always did over act.  But with the dancing and singing he got away with it. I loved him anyway.

I have to hit the hay.

(Date Posted:02/28/2017 4:22 PM)

Hello.   I'm baa-ack.

No snow yet!   We could have gone out for lunch, but the Weather Thingy on my phone kept telling me that it was going to snow at 11 ~~ at 10:45  ~~ at 11:30 ~~ etc, etc, but it never did, at least yet, and it doesn't look like it's going to.

Mike's Neurologist's office is now way across town and attached to a large hospital and the parking is horrendous.  The appointment was for 10:20, but he was to be there at 10 to do paperwork.  We left 10 minutes early just in case, and we needed every minute of it just driving around looking for parking.  Finally made it with one minute to spare.

I nagged Mike (that's my roll as caregiver, right?) to ask questions, and he did.  1) We've read that medical marijuana helps.  (Dr: None of my patients have been helped by it)..  2)Are there any studies that Mike would qualify or could possibly benefit from? We've seen several online.  (Dr: None that he knows of.  They are mostly associated with the Motion Clinics.)   3)We keep seeing anecdotal things about supplements or over the counter things that help some people.  (Dr:  None of his patients have mentioned any of those things to him.)

Well, that was helpful.  Ha.   He did say Mike is doing really well, and that the dyskenisia he has is mild.  (I question that.  It seems fairly substantial to me, but he can compare patients and I will trust what he says).  Dyskenesia is caused by the MEDICINE for Parkinson's, not by Parkinson's itself.  It is that jerky motion Michael J. Fox has.   Mike's is nothing like that, and he can control it when he concentrates, most of the time.    Anyway, all in all it was a good appointment.

Since we were still told to expect snow, we opted to go to OMG! Donuts to pick up some of their awesome doughnuts for breakfast and came home for a cuppa and a doughnut ~ or two.

Tonight is President Trump's speech to the Congress.  I would be looking forward to it, if I weren't concerned about how some members of the Congress will act.   We'll see.    I'm also concerned that he will offer amnesty to the Illegal Aliens, and I think that is just wrong, when so many are still waiting in line after having done everything that is expected of them.  It won't make my face smile.

We got our Federal tax refund yesterday, it

was deposited to our checking account.

Rather substantial, which means we gave

the Government a large interest free loan.

Not brilliant, but definitely handy for

paying our property tax and insurance.  We

owe the State $275 as our total bill because of

all the tax credits Colorado gives retirees,

and that we have already paid online.

I have something like the same problem you

are having with sleep.   Even when I get a

good night's sleep, I keep falling asleep in

front of the TV.  Hate it!
