Good Morning.

A few days ago it was 70 degrees.  Today we woke to 3-4 inches of snow, and more coming and it isn't expected to get above freezing!

I did get my hair color in yesterday, but not much more.  I don't think I slept two hours the night before and I was worthless.   At least I was able to sleep well last night.

We had Valentine's dinner phase two last night.  Just as good as day one AND we added a small chocolate souflette!   I'm sure there are no carbs in that, right?

HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY.   A positive today for President's Day is no mail delivery ~ so we don't have to worry about getting out to the mailbox to pick up our mail in the snow.  That's a GOOD Thing today.

We finished Binge Watching Bosch last night and I have to say I thought it was pretty good.  The bad thing is that as bad as the killers were, the Politicians were worse!   I was rather hoping the killers would find a few of them and pick them off.   (Yeah, I know.  I'm bad.  And worse, I don't even care ~ lol)

I did see the picture of your mom and her flowers on Facebook.  She looks so good, and the flowers do to!

I dimly remember the Michael York Three Musketeers.   The Technicolor version  was telling you about was pretty and typical of that era, and sort of followed the book I think, but scrunched into an hour and a half or two hour movie, you know they look liberties.  Still, it was fun.

I haven't seen the movie or read the book Soul Surfer, but I do remember the news story when it happened, and I've seen her making commercials since.  Quite an impressive young lady!

Thank you for the pretty tag with all the lovely critters!

I love the bacon tag and had a good laugh over it.  Who does not like bacon???  I have never heard any one say they did not like it, lol.  Now I want it.
Valentine's dinner phase 2 sounds as good as 1.  I do not think I have ever had a souffle.  Maybe??  I seem to remember us (Louann, Bruce, Gary and I) baking something orange flavored and having to be careful that it did not "fall".  This was a million years ago and just came to mind.  I cannot recall if it turned out.
When I was a young teen, the cat lady gave us a bunch of comic books.  Most were CLASSIC comics and told the stories of great books.  That is how I started reading so many CLASSICS, as I loved the comics and wanted to read more.  I read the comics and then the books ... The Three Musketeers, Ivanhoe, The Man in The Iron Mask,The Count of Monte Cristo,  Tarzan of the Apes, Kim and many more who's names escaped me right now.  I have read all of the Tarzan series and there are over 30 of them, lol.  This all when I was in Jr and Sr High.  Nobody read what I was reading, lol.  The movie I remembered was The Three Musketeers that came out in 1973 with Michael York, Richard Chamberland, Raquel Welsh, Oliver Reed, Christopher Lee, Frank Finlay and Faye Dunaway.  It was followed by a sequel in 1974 with The Four Musketeers.  I remember enjoying them.  If you get a chance, watch them...excellent actors.  I looked up the one with Gene Kelly and it was full of stars too.  I have to see it, lol.  I may have, a long, long time ago but am not sure.  Oh well.
Mom is out to TOPS so am going to see if I can find anything to watch that she would not want to.  I am in here early today.
It is just cold here today, no new snow.  Not sure if any on the forecast or not.
Chat with you tomorrow.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/17/2015 11:43 AM)

Happy Fat Tuesday!

In honor of Fat Tuesday, I was up a pound and a half today.  Isn't that special?  (sigh)  Yes, I know about weight fluctuation and no, I don't weigh every day, but it's really discouraging.  Even with very modest hopes because I am so inactive and so OLD, I'm not making any headway. Ah, well.

We're coming out of the deep freeze and the walks and driveways have been shoveling and are pretty much dry.  It's supposed to get warmer until Saturday, and then snow again.

Today isn't starting off well for me, just little things but it doesn't bode all that well.  Tomorrow I need to do my ICD download to see how much life is left in my battery before I   need surgery to replace it. I'm hoping to have some more time, but we'll see. Then Marcela changed her cleaning day again, and will come on Thursday ~ not really a big deal, just a minor annoyance. And I cannot budge this fat that seems determined to stay attached to me which is really annoying me today.  All in all, I'm not in a good mood.  It will get better I'm sure.

Thank you for my pretty Mardi Gras POST (tag and border)!  Lovely.

I remember reading many comic book Classic stories too, and a fair number of actual books in my long lost youth.  I didn't read many of the 'action' type (Ivanho, Three Musketeers, etc) in hardback, but I did read the Classic Comics and see the movies.   Mike read those books and passed on the "girly" ones I loved (Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, etc).  I almost see them as "boys books" and "girls books" ~~ LOL   I did read "The Man in the Iron Mask" and "The Count of Monet Cristo" and totally loved them both.   I've always loved anything where Right triumphs over Evil.  Still do, as you may have noticed ~ laugh.  Now we both like all of 'em, though we watch rather than read.

Rizzoli and Aisles is back tonight, so we'll watch NCIS at 7 and Rizzoli at 9.  I think that's it for our "excitement" for today, though I really do need to do some laundry.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Happy Fat Tuesday!
I was made for this day. Mom and I are doing really well with out new way of eating. Since she started eating salads with my every day for lunch she has been losing weight. Monday night she made her goal at TOPS and became a KOPS. She hit the goal that her cardiologist set for her. She would like to go lower and her GP is fine with that. She will continue to try and lose and if she can, she will lower her goal so that she does not go out of leeway. When I saw Dr. Fownes in Nov. I weighed 308. When I saw Denise 2 weeks ago I weighed 300. A week ago, by our scale, I weighed 294.5 and yesterday I weighed 289.5 So have lost about 18 lbs so far.  I am pleased. But I would like a binge on sweets, lol.
Yay, another Classic Comics lover. The cat lady had a son in the military, so all her comic books were geared toward boys. So that is what I read. Those that mom did not throw out because they smelled of cat pee. The woman had tons of cats...there would be 2 or 3 in each window. All seemed happy and healthy. I think she took in strays because they lived right next to the brick company. We used to play in there but if we were caught we would get thrown out.  The boys built forts in the bricks. We once found a brick fort that had nudie magazines in it. Mom had a fit and told us we were not to go into the bricks any more but we still did, lol.
We like these books for the same reason...good triumphing over evil. That is also why I loved the Star Wars movies so much and Harry Potter. I have to believe that good will always overcome evil in the end. I always want that happy ending.
I am watching Rizzoli and Isles right now :)

and

Chinese New Year ~ the Year of the Goat.

I was born in the Year of the Tiger, so I'll celebrate Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent instead.

You are doing GREAT on your new WOE (Way of Eating)!  I'm proud of you ~~ and jealous of you!  I can't imagine why I'm not losing more weight ~~ or ANY weight.  I have definitely had some high carb things, but not many and not often.  Because I'm so sedentary I know I can't lose like I used to, but I did expect at least a modest weight loss. (but not THIS modest ~ Ha!)  This is so disappointing.

I love the same kinds of stories ~ where unlike so often in the 'real' world, good does triumph over evil.  I think that's why I love mysteries.  There is a definable "bad guy", even if you can understand his motivation and sometimes emphasize with him.  Sometimes you don't feel all that bad for the victim, but you know that in the end bad actions and people will be punished and all will be made right with the world.   I want my world so ordered.  (sigh)

I really liked Rizzoli and Aisles last night.  Usually I do.

I watched a fair bit of the Westminster Kennel Club yesterday and enjoyed it.  There had been a couple of Colorado dogs I was routing for.  One was a Black Lab from Longmont, but she didn't win Best of Breed so she was out of the running.  The other was an Old English Sheep Dog from Castle Rock, who made it to the finals, but not all the way to Best in Show.   Did you know that even though the Lab is he most popular breed in America, one has never won Best of Show at Westminster?  Seems funny.  Maybe some kind of snobbery?  LOL ~ I'm looking for political motives everywhere these days.  Ha!

Love 'n Hugs,

Dorothy

Hello, it is freaking cold here in Wisconsin. It is -8 right now and I do not even want to think about what it is with windchill. Oh gosh, I just looked, it is -23. I was going to go get my INR done but have postponed it. It is supposed to be a bit warmer on Fri. I could always go Sat. but should not push it out much farther than that.  Just too cold for anything.
Rizzoli and Isles was good.  It always is.  So happy it is back on again. Had to watch it in it's replay time as was watching Idol and then we had to watch 19 Kids and Counting and the new show My Little Family...or something like that.  Mom wanted those. So it was 10pm before I could look for it.
We watched a movie on Amazon Prime the other night.  It was Miss Potter.  Rene Zellweger played Beatrix Potter and it was about her.  I found it delightful and even mom liked it ok.  She talked to her drawings and paintings of all her animals and imagined them talking to her and she made up her stories about them. I thought Rene was wonderful in the role.  It was interesting to see how her life unfolded.  We started to watch a different movie that was supposed to be a romantic comedy that opened with a female comedian tell sexually crude jokes which turned us both off and I turned it off.  I will try to look through the movies and make a list so that we do not have to spend so much time searching.
We did not watch any of the dog show. My friend Carole did and told me she thought the sheep dog should have won.  I wonder just what the perfect lab should look like. We had a black lab for about a year when we were growing up. We were keeping it for someone my dad knew who was in the service and would be gone for a year.  She was a nice dog, but she liked to run away...she was a very high energy dog, lol.  My sister Joanne had a yellow lab, Rissa has a yellow lab and Reid is on his 2nd yellow lab. All look different from each other. April is rather small with a thinner build. Hayley is heavy chested. Echo was very big and much taller than all these others. They are very friendly dogs and really great with kids.  We had a beagle once. I got it for my brother Leigh for his
16th birthday. She was purebred but no papers. She was born on a farm and they had only beagles. She was the most adorable puppy.
My dad wanted a male and they had said they had one but when we got there they had all the puppies in a shed and they just opened the door, grabbed one and gave it to us.  When dad asked about a male, he said there were none left.  Bait and switch, lol. She was a good dog and very attached to my mom.
Well that's it for me.  Chat tomorrow.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT

smiley1Good Afternoon.  Better late than never?

Marcela called and said she'd be an hour late, so I didn't want to try to come in and hold a half way intelligent conversation earlier.   One of her two Bichon Frises hurt herself last night and couldn't walk today.  Marcela is so devoted to her babies and she was beside herself.  She couldn't reach her Vet at first and then finally got her little girl in to him and she and Ramana came here.  While she was here she got the news.  The dog needs both knees replaced!   It's apparently a problem with Bichons and she knew the dog had problems, but apparently something happened last night to make it worse.  Poor animal is suffering and so is Marcela.   I hate to think what it will cost, but whatever it takes she will do, I know.

I'm sort of all "discomboobled". smiley90

It's fairly nice here today, and the snow on pavement has melted, though not on the grass so it's kind of pretty.  But wait!  We're supposed to get 2 inches of snow tomorrow night, 4 more on Saturday and 2 more on Sunday!   Of course your guess is as good a mine what will really happen.   I'm making beef stew on Saturday so we will be ready for whatever comes.

I know some of my weight thing is the lovely bacon I had and water retention, and now two days later I'm down 2 lbs from the 1.2 I gained.  Still not nearly as much as I would have lost on an Atkins type diet in the old days, but then I wasn't practically a piece of furniture in the old days.   I'm down 10 lbs in two months, which is pathetic, especially given how fat I have gotten, but down is better than up, I guess.

Miss Potter was one of those movies that I wanted to watch a long time ago, and I forgot about it!  Thanks for the reminder!

You said you have a Roku??  Or am I getting you mixed up with someone else?  If you do, we've been watching some good things on Hulu.  They do have commercials which is a pain, but it's only one commercial at a time instead of half a dozen, so not too bad.   Our most recent watches have been the 5 episode series "Canford" and the 3 episode "Return to Canford".  Sweet and well done.  1840s England, 'common folks'.
Be for that we watched the series "Lark Rise to Candleford" and enjoyed it a lot.   In both series you will recognize some old friends from Downton Abby.

Oooh, you're thinking Spring to keep warm!  Thank you for the pretty tag!     Have a happy day!

Yes, we have Roku, had to get it for viewing Amazon Prime. We are watching a movie right now. It is right up mom's alley...a Christian Romance called Belle and the Beast. Rather drippy!  Better than nothing though. Nothing on TV tonight after Idol.  They have got their final 24 so now it really begins. Some really great talent.
I am feeling a bit down for a little while now. I get anti-social.
Decided I did not want to go to the Oscar thing at Fauska's.  For lots of little reasons and because I just do not want to go out. Just feeling isolated and am adding to it. But I know that in the mood I am in, I would not have a good time. I voted for pizza because mom does not like it and I never get "good" pizza. just frozen.  But they tell me they are doing Chinese. which I just had 2 nights in a row. Also Nan coming in early and wanting to watch 2-3 episodes of Mr. Selfridge.  Which I have not seen since the first season.  Now normally, I would just go with the flow, but in the mood I am in it grates.  Louann said if I am not coming because of those 2 things they will change them.  I told her it is not that, it is me and I am better off staying home.  I am going to increase my antidepressant. In a few weeks I will be better.
Oh no, poor Marcella and her baby.  I will pray for them.  This is the sort of thing I worry about if I were to get a cat.  I could probably handle shots and check ups, but not if something went wrong and surgery or something like that were needed.  So I feel I cannot take on a cat.  That is the one thing that holds me back.  It would not be right.  I sure hope Marcella can get together the money she needs to take care of her baby.
Time to say goodnight.  Need to do email.
Hugs,

smiley102

Good Morning.

Nothing much to report since my sign in yesterday.  We had a 'date' for a glass of wine in the Library and afterwards Mike fried a Walleye filet for us, and made "his" tartar sauce for it.  Then we watched Suits because we missed it the night before when they had a two hour finale of The Mentalist.  We also missed Criminal Minds Wednesday night, but that wasn't on OnDemand yet.  We haven't been enjoying Ciminal Minds as much as we used to anyway.  It's so mean spirited, and we get enough of that on the news!

Then we re-watched the last Castle, because we'd both been online when we watched it before and missed more than we saw.   Could it be that they are going to go back to the way it was before, when we really enjoyed it?   We'll have to see, but I sure hope so.    Did I tell you that we recently re-watched the series "Firefly"?   "Castle" was So good looking back when he made that.

It sounds like the snowstorm we are expecting on Friday through Monday may be even worse than they had predicted, so we're going to go out for lunch at the Bonefish today and then do a little grocery shopping since we haven't been out for several days, and may not be able to get out for several more after the storm hits.   We might even bring home something for tomorrow's dinner and then I'll make my stew on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Haven't heard the results of the Defibrillator download yet.  Fingers crossed.

I'm sorry you are feeling so down right now.  I had mixed feelings on your going to Oscar Night.  On the one hand, being with your friends and sharing some laughs and good food (even Chinese) could lift the "down" feeling.  On the other hand, a lot of times you can feel more alone in a crowd than you do when you are actually alone.   I won't offer any suggestions on what you should do, other than hang in there because "this, too, shall pass".

I doubt we'll watch the Oscars.  Mike really doesn't enjoy those shows though he would watch if I really wanted to.  We almost never see the new movies in advance of the Oscars (and often not afterwards either ~ ha) and we really don't know any of the younger actors, or at least not many.   Fun to see the pretty clothes, but you can always catch bits of that later.

We have watched all the series of Mr Selfridge and enjoyed them, but somehow I'm not looking forward to the new season.  I know that while we were away his wife died and his children have been brought from America.  I'm sure if I did watch I'd get hooked again, but I'm just not excited about a largely new cast of characters.  I'll watch if Mike wants to, but left to my own devices I might not want to.  I'll let you know if we do and if we enjoyed.

Season 8 of The Murdock Mysteries is FINALLY being shown in the US on Ovation ~~~~ for us at 5PM on Saturday!  Sheesh!  I also can't see that they will rerun that episode, though they probably will.  Remembering to watch something at 5PM on Saturday is a recipe for missing it.   England got access to Season 8 in January, and Acorn has been posting about each new episode as it airs in Canada for ages ~ and making me jealous!

Haven't heard anything about the different Australian series we love ("Miss Fisher's Murders" and "A place to call home"). I know the next season of one has been out for quite a while and they are working on Season 3 for both.  When do I get to watch them?!  Grrr. ;-)   We got the DVDs of the first season of the Dr Blake Mysteries, another Australian series that was highly recommended by friends in Austrilia and England, and we're enjoying it ~ but we're almost at an end and no idea when the next season will be out.

Maybe I'll catch up on all the unread books on my bookshelves (paper and electronic)

Thank you for the lovely tag!  Beautiful!

Have a Happy Day!

 Hello Dorothy

Still really cold here and we got a dusting of snow.  Suz took me to the clinic to have my INR blood draw.  Went about 2:30 so should have been plenty of time for them to get it to Anticoag for them to call me, but they did not.  They are only open half day tomorrow so maybe they will call me then.  Otherwise, come Monday, I will call them.

You have hit the nail on the head.  I can be more alone in a crowd.  With all the noise and I cannot hear any conversations.  They always hang out in the kitchen nook area. Snacking and yacking.  I cannot sit on those high stools so I am alone in the living room, or not alone but the husbands have sports on TV.  The ladies are coming on Tues so I cannot afford eating out 2x in one week.  I would just as soon stay home and be comfortable then be over there all afternoon and evening and be in pain.  So I will stay home.

I have to admit that I am a gleek...I love Glee and this is it's final season. I love the music. The one thing I wanted to see was for Blaine and Kurt to marry before the series ended.  It happened tonight.  2 or their friends (lesbians) were getting married and they said we have 2 brides but no grooms.  So Kurt and Blaine got married with them but to each other, lol. I will miss this show so much.  The music is awesome and I love singing along each week when I know the songs, which I usually do.  I know that with the nature of the show it could              not go on long, but I just do not want to let go.                  Time for sleepy bye.

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/21/2015 12:36 PM)

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Good Morning.

We woke up to 6.5 inches of new snow, and our local news actually mentioned Arvada by name. Most of the time we don’t exist. They had expected 2 inches but we got unexpected “snow bands” (whatever that is) and Arvada got a bunch. Expecting 10 to 16 inches from noon today through the night, mostly in the foothills (that’s where we are) and then 3 to 5 inches tomorrow! I really doubt it, but it’s possible apparently.

We stopped at the grocery store before lunch to pick up a few items and Mike went in and I stayed in the car. When he didn’t come back and didn’t come back I started to worry. Then the light bulb went off over my head ~~ The Storm! Mike said the shopping wasn’t bad but the check out lines were. According to the news, as the day went on, the shelves were getting pretty bare.

Our temperatures are and will remain below freezing, but we won't come close to competing with Barb's!  We are counting our blessings that we don't have to go anywhere right now, that our HOA shovels for us, and that we have lots of food in.

I'm glad you got your INR done and I hope you get the results quickly ~ and that they are within range.    I got the results of my last ICD download and they were good!  I don't have to do another download until March 20th, so even if the surgery isn't far behind that (and I hope I still get another month ~ a gal can HOPE, can't she?) I may have lost a bit more weight and maybe I won't have to make poor Mike drive in the snow for the associated appointments.  So, YAY!

It really is worse to be alone in a crowd than alone in a room, I think.  At least most of the time.  I think you have made a wise decision, for this time at least.   I'm glad your other friends are coming over so you can have something fun to look forward to.

I never watched Glee, but I probably should have, and maybe will one day.  Years ago I loved 'Fame'.  Did you watch that?  Sort of a similar premise, I think.

We just watched "Miss Potter" on Amazon Prime.  The story of Beatrix Potter.  Another one I meant to watch as soon as it came out on DVD or streaming, but then forgot.  Have you seen it?   Sweet ~ but I'm still teary.  I don't know what is wrong with me that I cry so easily these days.  I used to do that, cry reading the newspaper,  but I thought I'd gotten beyond that.  Apparently not so.  Sweet or sad, it doesn't matter, the leaky eyes start.  I hate it!

Have a great rest of your day!

Miss Potter?
Ok, I am just going to call you mom now, or Phyllis because you are getting as forgetful as she is. Just scroll back up a few posts to where I shared the Spring has Sprung tag and reread it and you will see why, lol.
And your comment in your post that follows.

How cold is it by Barb??  It got up to 20 today.  But they say we are not done with the really cold weather.  You can keep that snow by you.  Once again we got up to just a dusting of snow.  At least the renewal of white each night keeps the snow clean and pretty, lol.

I would not have thought about the rush for items in the store either when going.  But everyone gets the same idea to stock up incase of being stuck inside for a while and not being able to get out.

Happy you get another month on the pacemaker.  I certainly understand wanting to have to deal with the appts, etc when there is better weather and you do not have to worry about snow and ice.  How long is the battery life of a pacemaker.  Never thought about that mom might have to have that surgery again.  Depends on how long they are good for.  She just had her check last week and all is good.

I did increase my antidepressant and it will kick in in a few days, after a month or two I will week back down to my current dose and be ok. Seems I always have to do this towards the end of winter. I also think it is partly from having to restrict my diet so much. I have lost so much, why do I have to lose eating good food too! I am going to have pizza Tues night with the ladies.  We will order from Pizza Ranch, mom can get chicken as she is not much for pizza.  They have a Butter Garlic sauce that I just love.  Chicken, mushrooms topping and I will get the thin crust even though I love deep dish.  I will still enjoy it.  When I went to TOPS and was really doing well I was eating under 1200 cal, usually under 1000 cal a day.  But every Monday after TOPS, which was about 6:30pm, I would eat whatever I wanted.  We used to go to a Bakery Restaurant that made the best cheeseburgers and they were huge.  I would get that and fries and for dessert usually one of pies.  Either a slice of Coconut Creme or Banana Creme, they were to die for.  Or, when Suz and I lived together and both went to TOPS we would hit the grocery store and get our favorite snacks and eat any and all until we went to bed.  But it worked for me.  Now I have the diabetes to worry about and that has finally scared me into being better.  But I want to chow down!!  LOL
Stay warm and safe.
Love you,

annnieM

RE:WELCOME TO FEBRUARY CHAT
(Date Posted:02/22/2015 11:36 AM)

Good Morning and Brrrrrrr.

We didn't get any more snow yesterday until close to 2PM ~ ~ and then it didn't quit!  Small flakes coming hard and fast.  For a while it was a complete White Out in our little neighborhood.  We're on a street that is at right angles to the houses in front of us, and I couldn't see past the second house across and down the street!   Because it was blowing sideways, I'm not sure how much stuck, but it sure looks like a lot on our back deck.   Supposed to snow most of today, too though hopefully not as heavily.   Temps in the teens and not expected to get above freezing until Tuesday, and then drop and snow again on Wednesday.    I'm more than a little glad we don't have to go anywhere for a few days and that someone WILL shovel for us!

We did get two loads of laundry done yesterday, so some small progress.  I'll make my beef stew today.

Oh, how funny!  Just call me Sally Senile.  (Blush!)

Tonight we will watch Downton Abby and the show that follows it later.   Earlier? I'm not sure.  We found a new-to-us 8 episode series on Amazon Prime called "The Palace", about a fictional Royal Family. I hope you didn't tell me about watching that yesterday!  LOL   The young sons are playboys and irresponsible, then the King dies and the oldest son becomes King.   The story starts there and does not make me envy the Royals, with all the inner-family and inner-Palace Staff intrigue, and how they manage to stand the press without getting a shotgun I can't imagine!   Kind of fun, and as I said only 8 episodes long.  We watched 4 last night!

Barb has been "enjoying" way below zero temps with even worse below zero wind chills, for quite a long time, and lots of snow, too.  Oh, Canada!

My first Defibrillator had to be changed in about four years and I was "hot"!  I made a fuss about wanting one that lasted longer and the next one lasted for about 7 years, but the Tech kept making snarky remarks when she read it that it was an older model she wasn't very familiar with.  This one has lasted for something like 9 years, so I can't complain too much.  I had them turn off all the extra bells and whistles to not run down the battery, and also to turn it to a higher threshold so that I wouldn't get shocked unless I really NEEDED to get shocked.   If you remember the last one, I got about 30 unnecessary shocks because it was set too low. (Long story)  Nothing prepares you to get shocked, and then to get shocked over and over again like that!  I still have fears about it.

I'm glad you know what you need from your antidepressant and how to handle it.   You'll be doing great again, soon.   Are you and your mom going to watch the Oscars?   Have your own little Oscar Party?

You really have done so well with your weight loss, I won't try to second guess what you are doing.  You GO, Girl!  :-)

Keep warm!

Well, well, guess what I did today. I ate 1/2 box of Thin Mints this afternoon. Yep, 4 servings worth.  Guess what my blood sugar was at supper time???133, really!!!  I could not believe it. I thought it would be sky high. I took the other half of the cookies and put them in the freezer so that I will not be doing that again anytime soon.
Another dusting a snow last night but still it is really cold. Right now it is -3 and I do not know the windchill factor. Not going to even think about it.  It will make me cold.
You find so many wonderful things to watch. I would too if not for mom. Even if the cable was working in my room we would have to pay for another box in order to watch anything.
Mom and Diane are planning on taking the same trip they did last year though making it a little shorter. They will visit Leigh for a week and then a long weekend with my Aunts and Uncles in Kentucky. So I am going to make a list of things I want to watch while she is gone, lol.
Ok, that freaks me out that your pacemaker shocked you repeatedly. That is so wrong. I do not like the idea of my mom going under for anything any more. Though she does pretty well for the most part. She is on a kick again about not having a vehicle and having to wait on everyone when she needs things. I just say nothing...I do not think she should be driving any more and neither do my sisters. She could buy a car if she wanted, but I do not think she would and we would have to stop her if she would. She has said she would not at this age, but she just gets on this roll and I worry she could talk herself into it. She is not always a reasonable woman.
I am calling the anticoag clinic first thing tomorrow since I did not hear back from them. I always worry that the lab sends them to the doctor and not to the clinic as I ask them too. Toying with the idea of going to them from now on instead of the lab. We will see.  I like the freedom of going to the lab but it also leads to issues.
We are watching the Oscars. Was not sure that we would, but we are. Lady Gaga totally shocked me with her singing the songs from The Sound of Music.  She was dressed very nicely though the wig was a bit much. I was very impressed. Julie Andrews looks great. I wonder how much surgery she has had done. She certainly doesn't look her age. It was The Sound of Music's 50th Anniversary.
Some so so dresses, some ugly dresses and none that have really wowed me. Lot's of gowns with trains which was really bugging mom. She kept saying their dresses drag in the back, lol.
Time to eat some protein so that my blood sugars do not spike so high come morning.
Hugs,

Good Morning ~

News actually mentioned Arvada by name and gave some snow totals! Gasp!  (laugh)   We officially had 6.5 inches overnight on Friday, and another 8 from Saturday afternoon to 6 AM on Sunday morning ~ 14.5 inches total in Arvada.  I think we may have had the MOST snow in Colorado.  That would certainly be a change.   Haven't heard yet what we got since yesterday morning.  Temperature got to the single digits yesterday, but it's warming up to the 20s today, and no more snow until Wednesday.  Then it's supposed to snow for the rest of the week.

What a pretty post, and what a pretty tag!  Thank you!

I would say "Shame on you" for eating the candy, but I really think sometimes we need to allow ourselves to indulge or spend the day in our jammies or do one of a hundred other things that we aren't supposed to do.  As long as we don't do it too often, it lets us feel like we are in charge of our lives and when we go back to doing things the right way, it's our choice.   I am glad you didn't knock your blood sugars out of the ballpark, though.   Now get back in line, young lady!

I think that's a great idea to make a list of shows you would love to watch but normally can't while your mom is gone.  I know it gets lonely with her gone so long, but if you are indulging in things that YOU like and can't usually do, it will be fun!    Be sure you load in lots of good and easy things to eat, too.

Hopefully your mom is just talking about getting a car and won't really consider doing it.  I understand the frustration of having to rely on others to go anywhere or get anything you need.  Thank God your sisters and nephews are so good about helping, but it's still frustrating not to just be able to do things when YOU want to.     Mike often "builds" very expensive cars online.  I used to point out that we have two cars in perfect shape and we certainly don't need a new car!  (Huff.  Puff!)  I've come to realize that building the car or building a new Laptop is just fun for him, and his good sense will keep him from going ahead and getting one.    ~~~~ I think.  lol.

I didn't watch the Oscars and I didn't really have a "dog in the race", but it looks like maybe some good choices.  I do really like JK Simmons though I didn't see the movie he was nominated for, of course.  He's been in so many shows I've enjoyed and always good.

Julianne Moore, too, has been nominated many times and it's good to see her win.  Patricia Arquette's political speech ~ yawn.  Whatever. Apparently there were several political rants.  Gee.  I'm sorry I missed them.  LOL!

Without seeing any of the shows, I would guess that the young man who played Stephen Hawking in the Theory of Everything maybe should have won.  That must have been such a hard role to play.

Downton Abby, on the other hand ~~~~ Aarrgghhh.  I won't say more until you have watched it, if you do,  but AARRGGHH.   Next week is the season finale.  What did we have, 5 episodes?  I hate these puny seasons.   I really did enjoy this Season more than last season though.  It just needs to be longer.

Have a great day!
