RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/26/2016 9:02 AM)

Good Morning!  'Tis the day after Christmas and all through the house ~~ visions of undecking the halls are being pushed out of my mind.  How about yours?

Unlike our long lost childhoods, we didn't bound out of bed and rush to the tree yesterday morning.  I even signed in before I got up, and then assisted Santa in delivering his gifts while Mike made coffee.   He helped Santa even later than I did!  While we had our coffee and opened Santa's gifts and those from Marianne and Bill and my niece Katie, we had "A Christmas Story" on in the background.  They always run it 24 hours on Christmas Day!  lol.   I was texted by a few family members and friends during the day.

I somehow got my sleep feature on my cell phone turned off.  It blocks sounds from 10PM until 7 Am.   My text sound is a duck quacking (!) and at 5:20 on Christmas morning my friend Judy in Omaha Quacked LOUDLY to show a picture of her dog with her gift!  Often I am awake and trying to get back to sleep.  Yesterday morning we were both asleep and got Quacked in to Wide Awake to see a picture of Pepper! Ho! Ho! Ho!

We didn't have dinner until after 5 and we ate way too much.  Lots of wonderful leftovers.

I hope your Christmas Day was purrrfect in every way, and Santa was really good to you as well!

Merry, Merry!

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/27/2016 12:45 AM)

I learned a long time ago to be dressed on Christmas Eve.  We would often get deliveries or visitors on that day.  Not this year, only a drunk Christine.  Mom could not believe that when she went to church *she attended the early Children's service.
She finally left at nearly 6 and had not done many things, but not anything of great importance.   She owes us.  We have not seen her since.  They went to her families on Christmas Eve and his on Christmas and again today.  Scott stopped in yesterday and today and had to borrow our key for their place and said they would be home tomorrow.  They gave us a big basket of food items....a ham, lots of jars of different fruits, salad dressing and candies.  The hand is a black forest and presliced and is delicious.  We gave them a bundle of items we had, a candle with a prize ring in it, a fleece blanket, I found a conditioner she swooned about from the 80's and mom forgave then $40 they owed her.  Plus she paid Chris $30 for cleaning.  She only did one load of laundry which is still in the basement in the washer.  I did not give her my clothes as I knew that was going to happen.  We put all the furniture back..she even left the mop and pain in the kitchen full of water yet.  We put the tables and chairs back. and cleared the table.  When all was done we relaxed.  Then I did something stupid with my hair.  I decided to curl it using bobby pins.  My hair is pretty long right now.  I was going to pin curl it.  But decided to twist the hair first, the roll it and pin it.  I then wet it before getting to bed late!  It took a long time to do. I got up just before 9 in the morning and took all the pins out of my hair and OMG, what a mess.  twisting it first was so wrong.  the long twirls of hair were so knotted when I tried to poof them out.  It looked like a rats nest with dreads.  Diane got here before I left my room.  I told her what I had done.  She said that is why you need layers, but it does have more body than usual.  I finally had to go wet it and try to pick it out.  Have way through the day I had to put it up as I was getting way too hot.
It was a loud crazy Christmas.  So loud a couple of times that I wanted to scream. The only one not here other than the family in Arkansas was my nephew, godson Brent.  His jerk ass father is alone now, and no one should be alone for the holidays.  So Brent spent the day with his father.  He did stop by to see us today.  He gave me a Netflix gift card so I was able to extend our membership.  Diane took mom grocery shopping today but she hurried mom too much, I just will not go into it now. We have lot's of lovely left overs.  Joanne brought cheesy chicken and pot roast for sandwiches.  Then told me the pot roast was actually prime rib. It was so good and we have the left overs. Lucky us.  Though I would love some of those hor dourves you had.  Wanna trade?
Love you sister of mine.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/27/2016 11:25 AM)

Mornin'.

Remember when I told you we suffered no damage in those high Christmas Day winds?   Well I was wrong.  The large wreath over our Portico was blown down!   Luckily a neighbor saw it and brought it to our porch.  The electrical wiring is still up, it apparently just "unplugged" and blew down.   Since Christmas is over, we won't have them put it back up.  I just sent a note telling them that we had it stored in the garage.   I THINK the tree and everything else is fine.

Sue and John invited us over tonight to have snacks and drinks and see the how nice the lighted tree we gave them looks.  That would be fun, but Mike's ankle isn't any better ~~ his fault at least somewhat because he won't stay off of it.  Now he's decided he really has to take care of it, so I will send a note telling them.  We have lovely Roast Beast leftovers to eat and they invited us at what is normally our dinnertime.

I need to send a note to Karen and Bob, too.  That candy she made is awesome!  Much like Enstrom's toffee, but maybe even better!    I had thought maybe we would take the tree down today, but with Mike's foot like it is I can't let him help, and he is insistent that I can't do it by myself.   I could, of course, I would just take longer.   (Remove three decorations, then sit and put them in the box, then stand to remove another two or three.  LOL)    Best we wait and do it together.

I want to get my hair color in on Thursday.   I am experiencing a White Out next to my face!   I swear a few days ago there were only "highlights"!

I really feared that Chris would leave you in the lurch, and I'm so sorry.  Neither of you can do the work she is hired to do, and you shouldn't have to!   I'd like to swat her!    It does sound like they brought a nice gift basket to you, but I'll only forgive her a smidge.  I'm sure your box to them was much nicer.

Oh, no ~ your hair!   lol  I shouldn't laugh.  I shampoo'd mine yesterday and put my new products in and brushed it out so it was nice and full.  Then I curled it, and it just didn't make it.  Not good at all ~ AND the White Out!   Mercy!   lol I'll color on Thursday and have it cut next Wednesday.   At least I didn't have to see anyone except Mike.  Ha!

Your food sounded great and your leftovers awesome.   I would share some of our snacks with you, but we have our own Prime Rib leftovers, thanks anyway.  ;-)

Did you have a great Christmas and get something nice?

Enjoy your day!

THIS IS A QUICK NOTE AS I AM NOT FEELING WELL.  I AM HAVING MY

FEEL WELL.  A LOT OF THAT MAY BE TOO MUCH SUGAR IN THE SYSTEM.

BUT I AM BLAMING THE INFECTION.  ONE BOX OF MOMS HARRY & DAVID

WAS PEARS.  THEY ARE JUICY, BUT NOT THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD.  THE

BEST COME FROM A TREE FROM SUZ'S MIL'S PROPERTY. THE SWEETEST,

JUICIEST PEARS EVER.  TRIED TO GET MY SISTER DIANE TO TAKE A

COUPLE BUT SHE DOES NOT LIKE THE CONSISTENCY OR TEXTURE OF

PEARS.  I THINK IT IS THAT WAY WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE.  I HAVE POST-

PONED GETTING TOGETHER WITH CAROLE AND GLORIA TILL NEXT WEEK.

JUST DO NOT FEEL LIKE DEALING WITH PEOPLE.

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/28/2016 10:42 AM)

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Good Morning.

We're staying in the mid-40s today, no snow, 16 mph winds.  Sounds like a nice day to stay inside.

We have a problem with the BIG window in the Great room, you know, the one that completely dominates the room and everything from the front door on.  I'm not sure what the problem is, but we have moisture between the panes which means there is a leak or something.  I hope and pray we don't have to replace the window, but I fear we will. It's huge.  This house is only 5 1/2 years old!   I hate to think of replacing the window in the winter ~ or in the summer when there are insects (and even birds) flying around, or ANYTIME.   Whine.

Aside from that, all is well.  I guess that is enough to be wrong!

We shared a glass of 21 year old scotch in front of the tree late yesterday afternoon and then decided to have another meal of our little frozen snacks.   Strange I know, but then so are we. ;-)  That leaves us with left over Prime Rib and lovely hot beef sandwiches for dinner tonight.

Mike did stay off of his ankle most of yesterday and even soaked it a couple of times.  He needs to do the same today.  Parkinson's balance and stamina problems are bad enough and an injured ankle is bad as well. Both of them at the same time is really bad.

I'm sorry you are feeling bad.  I've never had a UTI, and I'd just as soon keep it that way!   Is there anything you can take to kill the infection?  Or do you just have to wait it out?

Pears have never been my favorite fruits, but I did always like slices of pears on cottage cheese for some reason.  Haven't had it for ages.

I am anxious to hear all about your Christmas.  As usual, I made out like a bandit ~~ perhaps the one advantage of having a VERY small family.  LOL. We don't have anyone we have to share with.  Ha!

At the first of December, Mike gave me an Open Before Christmas present ~ a new book by Leslie Meyers "The Eggnog Murder".  I had to finish the book I was reading first and we all know how slowly I read these days, but I am reading and enjoying it now.    I gave him an Advent Calendar with a Liquor filled Ashbach chocolate behind each door.

Then for Christmas he got his iPad Mini replaced ~ his broke several months ago and he's been using mine.  He also got some Tommy Bahama shirts and several other little things.  Santa brought mostly munchies, but not as much of those as usual because Santa realizes we are both F-A-T.

I got six (count 'em) six hard back books including the open B4 one, and a pair of slippers and a gizmo to attach to my iPhone's camera to telephoto it, and an oval cut Emerald pendant.   Mike has wanted to get me one for years and I kept saying 'no' because I have and love my jade necklace, and I didn't want to have to decide between two gorgeous green necklaces, especially when I mostly live in sweatshirts!  Emerald is the only stone he hadn't got for me and he was clearly determined to do it!  Ha.  Emerald is the stone for the 35th anniversary which we celebrated this year.  Jade is the 'modern stone' for the 35th, so I'm covered.

Santa brought me edibles, too, and I plan to try to make most of them last as long as I can.  I got a box of individually wrapped divinity, and a big box filled with 8 little boxes of Fannie May chocolates that Mike hand selected.  (A box of chocolate covered lemon cream, another of chocolate covered Orange, etc etc) and two smaller boxes of fudge that I have to cut.  (No wonder I'm fat??  lol)

I know.  It's all too much, but we don't have kids or grand kids or parents or siblings except for Mike's sister, and we can no longer take trips or do much of anything except go out for meals, so we spoil each other.

I really hope you feel better very soon, and I hope you had a really nice Christmas ~~ at least the part without Chris.  ;-)

Happy Hump Day!

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/28/2016 11:15 PM)

.YOUR CHRISTMAS SOUNDS LOVELY.  YOU WILL HAVE TO SHARE A PICTURE OF YOUR EMERALD NECKLACE.  EMERALDS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.  I KNOW THEY COME IN ALL SORTS OF GREENS. BUT I LIKE THE DEEP KELLY GREEN BEST.
OUR DAY WENT WELL, THOUGH VERY WILD FOR A WHILE.  WE HAVE ALWAYS OPENED GIFTS IN A NICE ORDERLY MANNER, BUT THIS YEAR IT WAS PURE MAYHEM.  EVERYONE WAS OPENING AT THE SAME TIME SO NO ONE SAW WHAT ANYONE ELSE GOT. THE LITTLE GIRLS WERE NEAR ME SO I GOT TO SEE THEM OPEN THEIR GIFTS WHICH WAS FUN.
I GOT 4 SHIRTS AND A FLEECE CARDIGAN FROM MY MOM.  ALSO SOME GEL PENS AND A WONDERFUL LICORICE MIX.
MY SISTER DIANE HAD MY NAME AND SHE GOT ME 3 ACCESSORIES FOR MY POSSIBLE DREAMS SANTA'S I COLLECT.  A RED SLEIGH, A REINDEER IN RED GEAR AND A LITTLE BOY WITH A GOLDEN RETRIEVER.  I REALLY LOVE THEM.  MY SISTER GIFT FROM HER WAS A PERSONALIZED ORNAMENT THAT SAID AUNT LOU LOU'S BOYS AND HAS  7 ELVES ON IT WITH MY NEPHEWS NAMES. FROM JOANNE I GOT A YELLOW PARISIAN TOTE BAG WITH 2 PAIRS OF FUZZY SOCKS, A BEAUTIFUL BLACK BEVELED BOX THAT SAYS HOPE ON IT AND INIT A NECKLACE AND EARRINGS THAT I DO NOT CARE FOR AT ALL. I GOT ONE LAST CHRISTMAS TOO THAT I DID NOT LIKE EITHER.  THE CHAINS TO THEM ARE THOSE BEADED CHAINS LIKE YOU HAVE FOR KEY RINGS OR DOG TAGS.  I RARELY WEAR JEWELRY OTHER THAN RINGS.  SUZ NEVER DOES SISTER GIFTS.  SHE NEVER HAS THE MONEY FOR IT.  SHE COULD HAVE DONE IT WHEN SHE HAD THE MONEY. SHE RECENTLY BROUGHT ME OVER A LOT OF SHIRTS SHE HAD THAT DID NOT FIT AS THEY WERE TOO BIG AND THEY STILL HAD TAGS ON THEM OR WERE IN PLASTIC LIKE CLOTHES YOU BUY FROM CATALOGS.  THEY WERE TOO BIG AND SHE NEVER BOTHERED TO TAKE ANYTHING BACK.  THEY ZIPPED THROUGH THEIR INHERITANCE IN NO TIME AND ARE BACK TO BEING POOR.  JOSH GAVE ME A BAD OF OF LIN
DTLINDOR CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES.  THEY WERE DELICIOUS. OH, AND BRENT GAVE ME ANOTHER GIFT CARD FOR NETFLIX.  SO NOW WE HAVE IT THROUGH APRIL.

TODAY HAS BEEN A LITTLE BETTER PAIN WISE, BUT THE FREQUENCY IS STILL AN ISSUE.  I HAD LOW GRADE TEMP AND THAT BROKE AROUND 11:30 AM.  I WAS WRINGING WET AND EXHAUSTED.  USUALLY USE ANTIBIOTICS FOR A UTI BUT SINCE THAT MESSES UP MY INR, I AM TRYING TO AVOID IT.  ALSO CRANBERRY IS REALLY GOOD FOR UTI, BUT AGAIN, IT IS NOT GOOD FOR INR.
WE ARE WATCHING SISTER ACT ON TV.  THERE IS JUST NOTHING ON ANY MORE.
LOVE YOU LADY!
HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/29/2016 3:31 PM)

Good Afternoon!

I'm late because I put my hair color in this morning, and then I made a Braunschweiger Pate' that is now chilling so I can "frost" it with cream cheese later.

I didn't pick up the mail last night because I didn't see them come until after 5 and it was quite dark, so once I got dressed I went out to get the mail and ~~~ no mail!   They also haven't picked up either the trash or the recycles yet.   Guess I'm not the only one who's late today.

We were going to go out for some groceries but while Mike's ankle is much better, it still isn't completely healed so we placed a grocery delivery order for Saturday instead.  I hope they have things left by then ~ lol!

Yea ~~ no more White Out!   I'm gettingmy hair cut on Wednesday so I may look a whole lot better.

Our Christmas was very quiet and probably might be boring to many, but it was just right for us now.

When we've been with family, we never opened gifts in a nice, orderly manner, though I always wanted us to.  By the time Christmas was over, I wouldn't have a clue who got what or who gave what to whom ~ except for the things that we got and gave.   Also, most of the time we'd spend the day or a couple of days with family and never even visit with every person.   The last Christmas my brother was alive, he and Alice came to our house on the way back to Colorado from visiting with their kids in Wisconsin, and we had a quiet dinner and opened gifts, just the four of us and it was so nice, and such a good memory.  Then we went to spend Christmas with Mike's folks, and did spend a few days with them before the others came so we actually did visit with everyone.

The little girls were Josh's new family?   Your gifts sound great!  Well, most of them.  ;-)  I'm so glad you got so many nice things!   It really does sound like a nice, happy Christmas, and it makes my face smile.

I'm glad you are healing ~~ keep it up!   It's so frustrating that the things that can help with one problem cause others.

Now, we move on to New years ~ can you even believe it?   I truly hope 2017 will be a really good year for all of us!

I'm late again, because Shauna is here.  She was a bit late this morning too, but she called.  Now she is hard at it.  Mike is going to have her help him putting a few things up on the top shelves in the Garage so he won't have to stand on a ladder ~ and neither will I.

It's hard to believe it is almost the end of 2016, isn't it?  The year certainly went fast, and I suspect most of us are happy to see it go.  I'm not exactly confident, but I am feeling hopeful for the first time quite a while.

Tomorrow a grocery delivery in the morning, then stroganoff, champagne and Pride and Prejudice.   Sunday, leftovers, snacks including the Brunschweiger pate, and hopefully Black Eyed Peas for good luck (if they are included in our grocery delivery) and Gone with the Wind.

Happy Hopeful New Year!

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/31/2016 4:23 AM)

Sorry I missed yesterday...so busy.  I am making myself take the time tonight. though I really have so much to do and I need to be getting to bed. Yaya, lol.  Just what is wrong with Mike's foot?  If you told me I seem to have forgotten.  I hope it heals soon.  I went on line to look up home remedies for UTI's,  One site had 7 home remedies.  1st was cranberry!! But 2nd was blueberries.  So I asked Suz to get me some tomorrow and she went right out and got me some.  So I am eating blueberries!  So keep your fingers crossed.  They were on sale for 2 pints for $5.00 so I had her get me 4 pints since mom loves them too.
Ooohhh, that lovely braunschweiger pate you make.  I have been wanting to try that forever.  You mean that Alice actually came to your home to visit and was decent?  You enjoyed her visit?  What ever became of the woman?  Why did she change?
Yes, the little girls were Josh's woman's girls.  Morgan and Maxie. I think I have a pick of them with me.
Morgan is the one with the Poop hat on. I gave it to Jason for Christmas, along with cash.  Maxie is waving a fan which explains the purple blur by her. She has her Hatchimal in her other hand.  They are new and improved furbies.  Their big eyes change color with their mood and the grow up in stages...how fast depends on the attention you give them. lol

Here is Suz's family.  Jerry. Suz. Jordan and Travis.
Here is Cayla (CeCe), Josh.  Both girls wanted to stand in front of their mother. They fight over her attention.

I will share some more tomorrow.
Yes, once again it is the end of the month and I am busting my but to get everything done on time.  I went to Anticoag today but had to admit I may have missed my half dose last Mon as I found a half pill on the floor Tue morning.  And I admitted to my
drink on Christmas that I will be repeating tomorrow.  So good.
My blood was 2.9 and it was 3.1 last week.  So because we are unsure, I need to come back in another week.  This is bullshit. She did say to me. I cannot make you come back but it is for the best.  Well of course I will come.  Wish I could go back to the lab so I could stretch a week into 10 days, etc. Oh well...la de da.
Anyway. I will say good night now, I am really tired.
Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO DECEMBER CHAT
(Date Posted:12/31/2016 12:02 PM)

And so 2016 comes to an end and we look forward to 2017 with hope.

We are expecting a grocery delivery this morning, between 10 and noon, and late this afternoon I will make stroganoff for our dinner and we will share a glass of champagne and watch the six hour mini-series of Pride and Predjuce and hopefully stay awake to see the fireworks from Denver and welcome the New Year.

Our neighbor Annette called me last night to let me know that 20/20 had a special on Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher last night, so I recorded it.  I may watch during the day.  Did you watch it?   So much sadness and anger in 2016.  I really hope and pray 2017 is better for everyone.

We had some of the Pate' last night along with some cheese that Mary Ann sent us from Wisconsin and it was all delicious.

I'm glad to see you today, I was getting a bit worried.  Believe me, I know how things can get busy and I don't have any problem with real life taking precedence over virtual life.   I just knew you had the infection and I was concerned.  I hope the blueberries work!!

I forgot to do my INR test on Thursday, so I did it yesterday while Shauna was here, and it was high ~ 3.2.  Not very high of course, and I really don't want to adjust my meds because I'm taking half a pill twice a week now.  I'm sure they will leave it this time.  I can't imagine why it jumped.  I did have a lovely glass of Scotch two days before, but it was two days, for Pete's sake.  Nothing else I can think of.

No, Alice used to come all the time.   Mike would pick her up and take her home, and often my niece Catherine and her family would come too, or we would go there, and sometimes my niece Mary Ann and her family would come from Wisconsin too.   There were some really nice times, and then some not so nice times.   We did a lot for Alice over the years after we moved here until the final time when she got mad at me for I-haven't-a-clue-why for the zillionth time, and I just let it go.  She was used to me always making it better, but I just didn't care anymore.  As I've said, the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference.  I had reached that point.   She hadn't.   There was a whole lot of hating going on, but I just didn't care anymore, except for the fact that for a while my nieces were influenced by her and put me on hold and ignore mode.     She moved to Wisconsin a couple of years ago and Catherine moved there last year (Park Falls) near Mary Ann.   They never mention her to me, so I have to assume she still bad mouths me, and I still don't care especially since I now have a relationship with the girls again.   Mary Ann said one time that I never said anything bad about her, and she is right.  I won't say anything bad about her to her family.  What Mike and I say to each other or what I say to you is a whole 'nuther matter.  LOL

Your new "nieces" are cute.   I am SO out of it with kids things!   Aaron is always sending pictures of Vince and now Lily with different costumes or dolls or whatever, and I am barely one step above clueless.  It's embarrassing.  The last video was of Lily (6 months old) playing with a laser sword (or whatever you call those Starwars things).   I called her Princess Leia, because I haven't the smallest clue who the new women in the series are.  lol

Those "Mood Furbies" sound adorable ~ that's just the thing I would like to get for the kids, but you know they would already have them.  Guess I'll stick with books and hope nobody else likes to read.  ha.

I love seeing the pictures of your family with identifiers so I can keep straight who is who.

Josh's new family really is attractive ~ all four of them.   He is SUCH a cutie.

What's with all the beards, though?  Are they all becoming Mountain Men?  ;-)   My brother used to have one too, not as nicely trimmed as Josh's, or perhaps 'trimmed' but longer.  I didn't love it ~ not that he asked me.  Lol.

It sounds like the holidays are playing havoc with our INR numbers, though I can't for the life of me see why.  Yours really aren't bad.  I would think she could let you go at least a couple of weeks, but ah, well.

Any big plans for tonite?
