RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/20/2016 7:55 AM)

Hello!  Welcome to the weekend.

It only reached the mid 70s yesterday, but we didn't get the rain that had been predicted. It was overcast and we rather enjoyed it.  Today we're heading for the higher 70s, so it should be nice again.

Mike lost his balance and took a fall yesterday, and we had a hard time getting him back up.  We're going to have to come up with a better plan in case it happens again.   Ultimately, he is fine and not even stiff, thank goodness.

No plans for today ~ we still have leftovers!

Mike's birthday celebration is "on", however we have slowed down so much that it bears little resemblance to the celebrations we used to have.  We don't do the trips anymore, and we really don't enjoy going out every day, so we just move very slowly through the week (weeks).   Tomorrow I think we'll do lunch at the Bonefish.  We haven't been there for a while.

Don't tell Mike, but I have ordered Malts in several different flavors from Whitey's Ice Cream to be delivered next week.  Whiteys is a wonderful Ice Cream Company from Iowa, and his family always used to go there for evening treats.   They made the best ice cream sodas ~ how I loved them.  The rest of the family preferred just ice cream, and Mike loved their Malts.   Anyway, it costs more to have them shipped than it does to buy them, but hey.  He's only going to turn 70 once.  :-)

I made a birthday card for him and want to make a few more, but I am sooooo slow I'm not sure that will get done.  Anyone else would pop a card out in an hour or two.  It takes me days.  SAD.  lol

My niece Mary Ann and her hubby are coming on Sept 2nd for a couple of days en route to explore the National Parks in Utah.  They offered to drive us to the mountains since Mike isn't doing that anymore, but he seems hesitant.  I will have to pry the "why" out of him.  While I tell everyone everything about me, he's the opposite.  it's not always easy to get the information I need ~ but get it, I will.   He has an appointment with his Neurologist the day before his birthday, so maybe some change in meds is needed ~ or not.  I'll be the last to know, but I WILL know.  (smile)

It was surprising how much we DIDN'T snooze during the day yesterday, given how little sleep we'd had the night before.   Mike found an inhaler and ordered it for me for those times when I get that whatever-it-is.  It should come tomorrow.  Of course I haven't had any problems since that night, and we both slept well last night.

I hope you can get your laptop fixed.  If I'm remembering right, sitting at the desktop isn't comfortable for you.  I'm glad you are getting everything backed up ~ just in case.   I am SO overdue to back up my Laptop.  I don't know why i keep putting it off, other than that it takes me so long to do anything anymore, so I just keep putting things off.  Anyway, I'd better get that done before too long!

Nice to have the house clean, isn't it?  I'm glad Chris does a good job for you, even though she's a bit casual with the time when she does it.

Have a great day!

'Mornin.

How miserable, losing your post, and this time it wasn't even Aimoo's fault.   You know I feel your pain!!

Nothing much going on around here other than that we are going out for late lunch at the Bonefish, and we had MarionBerry Pie and coffee for breakfast.   You can tell it's Birthday WeekS.  ;-)

Have a good one!

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT

Good Morning.

Up and at 'em this morning.   Mike has someone coming out to install his new Receiver this morning.   New Receiver? you ask.  I can't explain it.  All I know is that our "old" tv and speakers and all the other things I don't understand were connected through the Receiver, which no longer works right with the new TV's new technology.  All I know for sure is that when I turn the TV off or back on, I have to use two different "clickers" and hit certain buttons two times, and then it doesn't always work so I have to yell for Mike to do it for me, and it makes me so mad.  Hopefully the new Receiver will fix that and other things that I don't understand.  (Aarrgghh)   On a positive note, he did get the Receiver "free" by using our Credit Card points.    Anyway, Shogun and I will be locked in the Morning Room while Mike and "the guy" play with the electronics.    And how is Your World turning?

Barb recommended a new show on the Hallmark Channel, that we will check out, called Chesapeake Shores. Have you watched it?

Last night we recorded several things that were showing at the same time, including the Olympics closing ceremonies.  I love being able to do that.  We watched a new show on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries called "JL Family Ranch".

  http://www.hallmarkmoviesandmysteries.com/jl-family-ranch/videos

I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but I really did.   Premise is two old ranch families in Texas have been in a feud for generations, and through trickery and deceit, the head of one family, James Caan, is trying to take John Voight's family ranch using the BLM to do it.  (Bureau of Land Management, not Black Lives Matter.) The final confrontation between Ranchers and BLM had the look of what went on in Nevada last year.  Actually, that didn't sound like something I would like, but I wanted to watch because of the cast ~~ besides Voight and Caan, it stars Melanie Griffith, and Terri Polo and several others I wasn't familiar with.   This was the Pilot and at first we weren't sure we would stay with it, but by the end we were hooked.  I'll be back next week.

Hope things are going well for you.

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/22/2016 3:35 PM)

WELL, I AM FINALLY HERE.  DID YOU MISS ME?
I WAS AT LOUANN AND BRUCE'S FOR ABOUT 7 HRS YESTERDAY.
I WAS BEYOND TIRED WHEN I GOT HOME.  IT WAS A GORGEOUS DAY.
VERY LOW 70'S WITH BEAUTIFUL DEEP BLUE SKIES AND WHITE BILLOWY
CLOUDS.  FIRST WE WENT TO A&W FOR THE LAST DAY OF THEIR ANNIVERSARY SPECIALS.  $1 HAMBURGERS AND $1.85 SUNDAES.  THEY WERE CELEBRATING 85 YEARS IN FOND DU LAC.  I HAD A BURGER, DEEP FRIED CHEESE CURDS AND A PEACH SHAKE.  IR WAS GOOD BUT NOT FANTASTIC.  I WANTED MORE PEACH FLAVOR.  BUT LOVED THE TINY BITS OF PEACH THROUGHOUT IT.  WE ATE IN THE CAR AT THE DRIVE IN.  WE WOULD HAVE GONE TO A PICNIC TABLE BUT TOO MANY KIDS RUNNING AROUND.  THEN ON TO FAUSKA'S.  WE DECIDED TO WATCH THE NEW ROOTS.  OMG, NOT AT ALL LIKE THE FIRST ONE.  DID YOU WATCH IT?  I WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING IN CASE YOU DID NOT SEE IT AND PLAN ON IT.
THEN KIRSTIE CALLED AND WANTED TO COME OVER FOR THE NIGHT.
NICK WAS WORKING OVERTIME AND WOULD NOT BE HOME.  SO THE NEXT
THING WE KNOW WE HAVE KIRSTIE, LIAM AND COOPER OVER.  COOPER IS THEIR JACK RUSSEL TERRIER.  HE HAS BEEN A NERVOUS WRECK EVER SINCE LIAM WAS BORN.  POOR THING WAS ALWAYS THE BABY UNTIL A REAL ONE CAME ALONG.  HE SEEKS ATTENTION CONSTANTLY.  SOMETIMES HE IS VISIBLY SHAKING.  HE HAS MEDS TO HELP HIM.  HE HAS BIG TIME SEPARATION ANXIETY.  I GAVE HIM SOME CUDDLES.  LIAM WAS A PISTOL..  BRUCE TOOK HIM OUTSIDE TO RUN OFF SOME ENERGY.  FOR SUPPER WE
HAS PIZZA'S FROM BOB;S.  A GREAT PLACE THAT JUST MAKES PIZZA, YOU HAVE TO BAKE THEM.  I HAD COMMENTED THAT I SMELLS PIZZA BURNING BUT KNOW ONE EVER LISTENS TO ME.  A FEW MINUTES LATER THE SMOKE ALARM WENT OFF FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE FOREVER.  POOR COOPER HATES LOUD NOISES AND NEEDED TO BE HELD HE WAS SHAKING SO BADLY.  SO THE CRUSTS WERE A BIT BURNED, BUT THEY WERE THIN AND CRISPY AND EXCELLENT.  TO GO WITH IT WE HAD WATERMELON, RED AND GREEN GRAPES.  IT WAS ALL SO WONDERFUL.  2 PIECES OF PIZZA AND LOTS OF FRUIT FILLED ME UP....OH YEAH, NAN MADE REESE'S BARS. THEY WERE DELISH AND I ONLY ATE ONE.  AND I HAD 2 HUGE GLASSES OF WATER.
AFTER SUPPER, WE TALKED FOR A WHILE AND THEN LIAM WANTED TO WATCH "FROZEN" SO WE WATCHED IT.  NAN AND LOUANN HAD NEVER SEEN IT AND I HAD SEEN BITS AND PIECES OF IT AT THEIR HOUSE BEFORE,  BUT WE ALL ENJOYED IT.  NAN KEPT ASKING WHO WAS THE
BAD GUY AND WHAT HAPPENED NEXT AND BECAUSE WE WOULD NOT TELL HER SHE SAID WE WERE CAUSING HER TO GO BALD SINCE WAS PULLING ON HER HAIR.  I TRIED TO GIVE HER HINTS BUT AS I SAID...NO ONE LISTENS TO ME.  AFTER THAT LIAM WAS SAYING HIS GOOD BYES AND I GRABBED HIM UP AND WAS KISSING ON HIS NECK BUT I TOLD HIM I WAS EATING IT.  THAT WAS A MISTAKE.  EVERY CHANCE HE GOT HE CAME OVER AND HIT ME.  KIRSTIE KEPT TELLING HIM NO HE STILL DID IT. AFTER THAT WE WERE GOING TO GO HOME BUT NAN'S CAR WOULD NOT START.  KIRSTIE HAD TOLD NAN HER LIGHTS WERE ON WHEN SHE GOT THERE WISH WAS SEVERAL HOURS AFTER WE HAD GOTTEN THERE.  SO THEY HAD TO USE THE CABLES AND JUMP HER CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. SO THEN HOME.  WHILE I WAS SITTING HALF IN AND HALF OUT, LIAM GOT A FEW MORE SWATS IN AND I CONTINUED TO TELL HIM I WAS GOING TO EAT HIM.  THE NEXT THING I KNEW, HE HIT ME WITH A STICK.  THAT GOODNESS THAT THE STICK HIT THE CAR FIRST, SO ONLY THE PIECE THAT BROKE OFF ACTUALLY HIT ME AND NOT WITH THE FORCE OR A DIRECT HIT.  THAT TIME KIRSTIE GRABBED HIM UP AND TOOK HIM AWAY.  I NEED TO LEARN TO CHOOSE ME WORDS BETTER.  WE HAD JUST WATCHED THE HEROES FIGHTING OFF A SNOW MONSTER.  I AM SURE LIAM THOUGHT HE WAS DOING THE RIGHT THING.  I JUST SHOULD HAVE SAID I AM KISSING YOUR NECK.  I LEARNED MY LESSON.  I STARTED THINKING ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF HE HAD HIT MY GOOD EYE, THEN WHERE WOULD I BE?
I AM SORRY TO HEAR THAT MIKE FELL.  YOU TOO NEED TO TAKE A NIP INTO YOUR PRIDE AND ASK NEIGHBORS FOR HELP.  I KNOW THAT MY MOM CANNOT GET UP WITHOUT HELP OF SOMEONE MORE THAN ME.  WHEN I WAS WORKING, I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN HER UP, BUT NOT ANYMORE.  MAYBE THAT IS WHY MIKE IS RELUCTANT TO DO THE MOUNTAIN RIDE.  MAYBE HE IS AFRAID OF FALLING.  SO MAYBE WHEN HE SEES HIS DOCTOR A BIT OF A MED CHANGE WILL HAVE HIM FEELING BETTER AND MORE SURE ON HIS FEET.  OR RENT AND TAKE ALONG A TRANSFER W/C IN CASE YOU GET OUT TO WALK AROUND A BIT.  HE CAN SIT AND YOU CAN PUSH FOR STABILITY. THIS WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO DRIVE TO THE MOUNTAINS.  WHATEVER HIS RELUCTANCE IS, THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO GO.  WHICH DAY IS ACTUALLY HIS BIRTHDAY?  I CANNOT REMEMBER.  I AM GETTING AS BAD AS MY MOM.  JUST WHAT IS MARIONBERRY PIE?  MIKE AND HIS ELECTRONICS.  HE IS IN 7TH HEAVEN
WHEN HE CAN FIGURE OUT A PROBLEM AND GET A NEW TOY TO FIX IT.  YOU REALLY NEED TO LEND HIM TO ME.  HE WOULD GET EVERY THING OF OURS WORKING RIGHT IN NO TIME.  WE HAVE AN ISSUE WITH OUR TV
WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF AT NIGHT, THEN TURN IT ON IN THE MORNING
THE TV DOES NOT COME ON.  THEM MOM HAS TO WAIT TILL I GET UP AND CAN FIX IT.  SOMETIMES IT ONLY TAKES 15 MIN, OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO HAVE THE CABLE COMPANY REFRESH OUR CABLE BOX AND THEN THEN I NEED TO PUSH CERTAIN BUTTONS AND IT WORKS.  BRENT FINALLY CAME OVER TO SEE  ABOUT IT YESTERDAY,  MOM SAID HE TURNED IT OFF AND THEN TURNED IT ON AND IT WORKED SO HE SAT AND TALKED A WHILE AND THEN LEFT.  I WISH I HAD BEEN HOME.
I SAW THAT NEW SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING AND FELT IT JUST SEEMED LIKE A REMAKE OF JR AND SOUTH FORKS.  I CANNOT RECALL THE NAME OF IT.  SO DID NOT CONSIDER WATCHING IT.  ALSO THE  SAW THE CHESAPEAKE SHORES ONE, BUT THOUGHT ABOUT HOW GOOD THE LAST ONE I WATCHED LOOKED AND WITHIN SEVERAL WEEKS IT WAS JUST ANOTHER SOAP OPERA. SO I GAVE IT UP.  CEDAR COVE AND ANDIE MACDOWELL. WAS ON.  I LOVE HER, BUT TOO MUCH CRAP WE WERE WATCHING A HALLMARK SERIES ON LINE CALLED "ELEVENTH" BUT THE EPISODES WERE ONLY A HALF AN HOUR, FAR TOO SHORT FOR A DRAMATIC SERIES AND THEY ONLY PUT OUT 4 OR 5 EPISODES.  YOU COULD BARELY GET INTO THE STORY LINE AND IT WAS DONE.  VERY DISAPPOINTING.
ANY WAY, I NEED TO MAKE SUPPER SO GOING TO SAY TA TA FOR NOW.
XOXOXO

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/23/2016 11:00 AM)

Good Morning

It's a bit cooler today, only the mid 80s. Nice.

Yesterday "The Guy" came and changed out the Receiver and took the old one and the boxes for the new one away, so we don't have to deal with that.  It looks like everything is working wonderfully, and he even adjusted the sound so we get a bit more surround sound.  Very nice young man.   He was here longer than I had expected so, stuck in the Morning Room and not able to see what was going on, I was concerned that he might be having trouble, but he was just being very thorough and doing some extra things.

He was there pretty much right on time, but while we were waiting for him, our neighbor Shari called and asked if she could come down and "get some inspiration" for a card she was making.  I told her that at 11 I was going to have to lock myself in the Morning Room with the cat while "The Guy" was here, but if she wanted to come down after he left that would be great.  She said she'd rather come "now" (a little after 10), so I said sure as long as she knew what was going on here.

She brought some cards her friend had made that were really professional looking, much more so than mine will probably ever be.  Then I showed her the ones I had done, and the ones that were works in progress and she really seemed very impressed, which of course made me feel great.   We talked stamps and cards and neighbors and she ended up being locked in the Morning Room with Shogun and me for well over an hour.  I was a bit concerned because like many of my neighbors she has cat allergies.  The first hour she was here, Shogun was not in the room, but the second hour plus, we were closed in with him.  She said she had taken an allergy pill earlier, so she didn't have any problems, thank goodness, and we had a good time.

Kathy, my Stampin Up Lady is having some classes this weekend and I'd love to go, but I don't think either Sue or Shari are going and while Mike has offered to take me, he really seems nervous about driving very far anymore and I hate to have him take me and come back for me because of that.  I'd hate even more driving myself ~ lol.  So it looks like I will have to pass.   Oh, well. No big.

I hesitate to say that we might go to the Red Robin to collect Mike's Birthday Burger from them because it seems like so often when I say what we are planning to do, we don't.  lol

Of course I missed you, but I'm glad you had a mostly fun day at Louann and Bruces.

No, I haven't seen the new Roots and don't plan to unless you convince me differently.   I loved the original, but I suspect the revised version has a revisionist slant.  Or not.  Anyway, it doesn't appeal.

Oh, poor little Cooper.  You make me want to hold and comfort him.

Too bad they didn't listen to you about the pizza ~ perhaps they will live and learn.  Everything sounded delicious!

Well, really!  What can you expect when you eat someone!  LOL  OhMyGosh, then hitting you with a stick!  The child needs some serious talking to ~ and I'm sure he got it.  Obviously it had become a game to him.

Mike's birthday is next Tuesday ~ the BIG-7-0!   I have already given him his big gifts, his chair and the TV, but I have a few more smaller things for him to open on Tuesday.   His malts come tomorrow.  We used to celebrate so much, and now our celebrations are so small by comparison, but it will still be nice I think.

You thought the JL Family Ranch was like Dallas?   Not at all to me or to Mike!  Dallas was all sex and fun sleeze and of course exorbitant wealth.  This one seems like good, solid family values, to me at least.  Pretty much what I would expect from Jon Voight.

I guess we need to check out Chesapeake Shores, but I'm suspecting it may not be our cup of tea.  You never know until you try, though.

Have a happy day!

Good Morning!  Well, it was still morning when I started this.  I got behind.

Our Stampin  Up lady, Kathy, is having a class tomorrow in her home and Sherri and I are going so we were making arrangements.    I may not be here tomorrow, depending on how well I get my bee-hind in gear.   I have to do my blood test then, too.

We went to Red Robin for Mike's complimentary burger last night and I ordered the Banzi Chicken Salad.  Bad choice!  I usually get the Crispy Chicken Salad, but I have always liked the Banzi Burger so I thought this sounded great.   It wasn't.   Oh, well.  Live and learn.

Hope you're having a good day.   I have lots to do for the birthday, and I'm not getting ANY thing done.

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/26/2016 12:13 PM)

Hello!   I'm Baa-ack.  ;-)

Yesterday morning I didn't have time to sign in because in addition to my shower and "primping" I had to do my blood test and order Mike's birthday cake and some other things.   It was surprisingly cool ~ 57 when we left and low 70s when we returned.  There were five of us in the class, three including Kathy that were 'Real' Demonstrators, one (me) a pretender, and Sherri, just learning.  We made three wonderful cards and I learned to do regular embossing, which I had never done, and Sherri learned how to use the Big Shot.  Fun, but really tiring for me.

It was as if suddenly when we left all my steam just left me and I was suddenly exhausted.  Sherri had her AC pumped up high and between that and my sudden exhaustion, I came in bone chilled and all but catatonic.   Anyway, I didn't get on line!

I sort of collapsed in the Morning room for a while and Considered getting online, but then I started getting Texts and pictures from my great niece Katie who is in Blue Fin Bay on the Northern Shore of Lake Superior with Brian and Jack right now.  The pictures are absolutely gorgeous.  Then while we were still texting, Laine texted that she was offered a new job!  She graduated from college last year, also working full time, and she has interviewed several times but without success.  The other day she said she was called back for a second interview at one place, but this was apparently a completely different place.  It really sounds good and is what she trained for so she's excited.  It's with American Reliable Insurance and she will be an MIS Analyst, doing testing on their software and products and discovering requirements for new products.  That even sounds fun to ME.

Anyway, by the time I got through texting with both of them (remember how challenged my texting is), I was "done".  Done FOR.  lol

Mike got his malts on Wednesday and he's loving them.  Today he got his first "official birthday card" in addition to the one from Whiteys, so we're off.

Shauna is here now.  She cleaned Sherri's house yesterday and she loved all of Sherri's antiques, and Sherri loved the way Shauna cleans.  It's a match!

I'm glad you had a nice time with the Ladies.

I can tell that we are going to have to look for "Better Late than Never".   I don't like many comedies with their horrible Laugh Tracks and inappropriate forced humor ~ just not my cup of tea, and fortunately not Mike's either.  We also don't like most Reality Shows for much the same reason, but this one really sounds like fun.  I'll let you know when we find it and give it a look.

We loved that Sense and Sensibility ~ in fact I just read what you wrote about the shows to Mike and the next thing I knew, there it was playing on our TV!  LOL    I agree about "Snape" ~ I loved him in this.  What a loss.  He really was a great actor.

Not much planned today.  I need to wrap the few remaining things I have for mike ~ if I can.  Two of them are pillows!  I'd also like to make another card for him.  I've made three and given him one.  I love that he likes them so much.

Oooh, just got a new text from Katie ~ with pictures on the Gondola and Alpine Slide at Lutsen.  What a fun vacation this looks like!

Have a happy day!

Love ya.

Good Morning!

It looks like we're heading back to sunny weather ~ in the high 80s, low 90s for the upcoming week.

Yesterday was kind of a lazy day, though I did make a card and did some "finishing" on two of the ones I made at the class.  Kind of bad when I consider making a card my "work" day, huh?  lol

We're going to pick up Mike's Birthday cake today, a Boston Cream Pie, actually.  I won't guarantee it will last until his birthday, but maybe.  ;-)   We don't plan to have it tonight, but ya never know.

We're talking about going to the Bonefish for Brunch tomorrow, but I won't make a commitment that we will actually do that.   On Monday morning he has an appointment with his Neurologist and then maybe we'll go out for lunch ~ assuming he wants to, and then on Tuesday I will take him for lunch at the Hideaway for his birthday.   Pretty low key for us, but nice I hope.    I have a few little things that I need to wrap. He already has his 'big' gifts.  I'd like to make another card, too, if I can.

I got a text from my niece Mary Ann this morning with the sweetest video of baby Lily.  She is such a cutie ~ all smiles like her big brother Vince.  I'd love to just scoop her up and cuddle her ~~~ and then hand her back to Grandma when her diapers needed changing.  LOL

I'm so sorry things are going so annoyingly bad for you right now.  Believe me, I've been there and done that and hated every second of it!   I wish I could make things better for you.  :-(

We watched the first episode of Better Late than Never on On Demand.  What a hoot!   I laughed right out loud!   We'll definitely watch the next two that are out there.

I'm hoping today the sun breaks through the black cloud that's been floating over your head and everything gets better.

Hugs . . .

DWELLING ON IT. THE RES OF THE DAY HAS BEEN FINE, OTHER THAN WHEN I WET MYSELF, BUT I AM NOT LETTING THAT GET TO ME EITHER.  I AM SUPPOSED TO DRINK
MORE, BUT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DO.  I NEED TO FIND A CURE FOR THAT.

I REMEMBER THAT MIKE GETS A BOSTON CREME FOR HIS BIRTHDAY.  IF THAT WERE SITTING AROUND IN MY HOUSE IT WOULD NOT LAST MORE THAN A FEW DAYS.  3 AT THE VERY MOST, LOL.  ENJOY ALL YOUR MEALS OUT.   TELL MIKE I AM PRAYING FOR GOOD RESULTS FROM HIS NEUROLOGIST AND A LITTLE TWEAKING OF MEDS IF NEEDED.  WE WANT HIM TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH HIMSELF.
I AM JUST SO TICKLED AT HOW MUCH FUN YOU ARE HAVING WITH THE CARD MAKING.  IT IS DRAGGING YOU OUT OF THE HOUSE AND YOU ARE OFFICIALLY LOSING YOUR CURMUDGEON TITLE.  HOW DID YOU LIKE THE EMBOSSING WITH POWDER AND HEAT?  I SO WISH THAT I COULD DO ALL THAT.  BUT IT ALL IS SO EXPENSIVE THESE DAYS.  I WOULD LOVE THE BIG SHOT AND ALL THE DIFFERENT FOLDERS?  DID I GET THAT RIGHT?
WEDNESDAY I FINALLY GO FOR MY EYE TEST FOR GLASSES.  WOO HOO!  I CANNOT WAIT.  KEEP FINGERS CROSSED THAT NOTHING ELSE GETS IN THE WAY OF IT.  I HAVE NOTHING ELSE FOR THIS WEEK.  OTHER THAN FINALLY GETTING A NEW PAGE AND  SKIN FOR OUR SITE.  I AM GOING TO LESSON THE AMOUNT OF WORK I PUT INTO THE INFO.  CUT IT BACK AS NEEDED.  I TRY TO PICK ITEMS THAT ARE PERTINENT TO US.  BUT IT IS A LOT MORE WORK THAN I THINK IS NECESSARY IF YOU DO NOT MIND.
I AM HAPPY FOR MARY ANN.  IF THAT IS THE JOB SHE WANTS, THEN I HOPE SHE GETS IT.  IT IS NICE TO FIND WORK IN THE FIELD YOU WENT TO SCHOOL FOR.  SO MANY GRADUATES END UP WORKING IN AREAS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT THEY WENT TO SCHOOL FOR.  SOME COMPANIES JUST WANT A DEGREE AND IT DOES NOT MATTER IN WHAT.
TIME TO SAY GOOD NIGHT.  STILL HAVE TO READ EMAIL.  I HAVE BEEN UNSUBSCRIBING FROM SO MUCH, YET STILL THEY KEEP COMING.  AH WELL...
THIS TAG IS CALLED VERDIGRIS FOR IT'S COLOR.  THE ARTIST IS JASMINE BECKET-GRIFFITH.
XOXOXO

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/28/2016 8:04 AM)

Hello
It may get hotter later in the week, but for today we are headed for the mid-80s.  I'll take it!

I got the cutest video of Lily yesterday.  I wish I could share it ~ there is just something about a new baby just smiling and making funny noises.  Unfortunately, I've never figured out how to post something that was sent to me from someone's iPhone.   Do you know how?

I had a couple of more ideas for cards for Mike, but I spend so much time just "executing" an idea, and I get so tired that I think I've decided that I'm not going to make any more for him.  I've given him two, and I have three more to give.  I'm sure that's more than enuf.  lol

I ordered Mike's Boston Cream Pie, but I made him "fly".  He didn't mind, cuz he also bought Biscotti while he was there.  ;-)   While he was inside and I was waiting in the car, the phone rang and it was Sue saying she was going to have John bring us some Peach Cobbler!  Lovely, sez I, but I'm parked at the Rhinelander Bakery instead of in my Morning Room.   She visited the Farmer's Market and has been freezing and cooking for days.  The Palisades Peach Cobbler was her latest.  Needless to say, we stopped by her house on the way home and got it!   There were three pieces and we shared one right away and have two waiting for our breakfast this morning!  Yay!

I'll put a candle (only one) next to the cherry on top of Mike's "cake".  ;-)

We are planning to go to the Bonefish for lunch today ~ but planning and actually getting there are two different things.  Ha.  We'll see.

I should be able to get online tomorrow morning before we go for Mike's Neurologist appointment, but if I don't you will know why I'm not here.

I would love to make cards well in advance of the occasions when I want to send them ~ but not so far.   I was talking to Sherri and she said she always waited till the last minute and then panicked making the card and didn't like the way it turned out.   That's me, but I am getting a bit happier with the final result.  I just hate the panicky feeling and how long it takes me to do it because of that.   I also never seem to have all the right "ingredients" in spite of how much stuff I have bought, so I have to rethink my plan and come up with an alternative.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much.    I can see why people have whole "craft rooms" with every shelf and drawer stuffed with every imaginable color of paper and every stamp or punch or die that has ever been made.  LOL  (help.)

I have made several cards with no "sentiments" with the idea that I could add the appropriate sentiment at the last minute when I knew what I would be using the card for.  Hopefully as time goes on, that will work.  Not when you are making things for a 70th birthday, though.  That's kinda specific.  ;-)

I'm debating about Sue since she had been making wonderful cards for a long time, and mine are very amateurish next to hers.   On the other hand, she would probably appreciate a hand made card more than someone else who might prefer a nice "store bought" card.   She will be 70 toward the end of September.  We want to get together with her and John for another late lunch out ~~ or "liner", as John calls it.   I do have a couple of "store bought" 70th birthday cards that I could use for Sue and as an extra for Mike.

Yes, you have it right about the Big Shot.  You can use embossing folders and put your paper in between them and run that through the Big Shot and get beautifully embossed paper.  Or you can die cut either "framelets" (basically simple, outlined cut outs) or "thinlets" (intricate designed cut outs) by running them through the Big Shot.  It really is a cool tool.

I really liked embossing with powder and heat.  I need a whole lot more practice, but I love the effect.  Sherri didn't like doing the embossing, but I suspect for both of us, there was too much going on and too many people trying to help tell us how to do things (even though there were only two other ladies besides Kathy).  It just kind of overwhelms me, and apparently Sherri a bit too, though she had more to learn.  She hadn't used the Big Shot before or done embossing, but she's a pretty cool character.

We would have such fun doing these things together.

I'm sorry you had such a bad start to your day, but glad it got better and you are not letting it bring you down.  That isn't easy to do.

I will be praying for really good news with your eye doctor.   I haven't heard you mention your vision lately, so I'm not sure whether you have just gotten used to things being bad and accepted them, or if things really are somewhat better.  I hope and pray it's the latter.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts for Mike, and THANK YOU for my beautiful new tag!

 Have a really GOOD day!

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT

Well, now the TV is off and we cannot get it back on.  Went through the checks on my own...3x, nothing happened...no picture. Then called Charter and went through the automated system, which was exactly what I had done.  Then they connected me with an Agent.  Since we had already done everything that she could take us through she said they would need to send a tech to us and had an opening tomorrow between 4-5pm and I took it. So perhaps that would be one issue down. Time to take care of several others.
I will be taking care of things and quit procrastinating.
We are listening to Prime Music.  I chose a random mix that was suggested that I would like it and I love it.  It is called Josh Groban and more.  He just sand Hallelujah.  I adore that song, but especially when he sings it.  That song is his!!  Oops, just took a little ice cream break.  Butter Pecan.  It was my Grandpa Hunter's favorite and my moms, it is also one of mine.  Actually, I think my favorite ice cream is chocolate marshmallow.  The only way I can get that is to buy chocolate ice cream and a jar of  marshmallow creme.  I dip my spoon into the marshmallow then scoop up some chocolate and eat the 2 together.  It is wonderful.. But mom does not like chocolate ice cream.
I think that Sue, since she loves card making, would love and appreciate a hand made card by someone else because she knows and appreciates all that goes into it  I think that shows love.  I know what you mean about all the time that goes into the making of the card.  By the time you pick papers and embossing and cut outs and stamps and the correct sentiment it has all turned into such an effort and a lot of time.  It is just like me when making tags,  I see something in my mind and at other times I am building it as I go.  It is very time consuming.  I always wonder about those who whip a lot of tags out in a day.  Lot's of times they are doing a tutorial and everything is provided for them and and they just follow the directions.  I do not want to make cookie cutter tags.  And I know you do not want to make cookie cutter cards.  I do like looking at them to see if I can use something in the others work that I would like to used or replicate.  But mostly my tags are my own.  Some I like and others, not so much.  But I use them as we are our own worse critics.  Tags I am not happy with others love and you will find that in your cars too.  You need to stop putting down the amount of talent you have in making them,  You have lot;s of talent, whether you think so or not.  The idea of making blank cards and adding sentiments as needed is wonderful.  Or a blank card can always be used as a note card too.  A pack of your homemade cards would make excellent gift too.  So many possibilities. Enjoy the process and the results. It is a great hobby.  Do not let it stress you, if it does, then it is not a great hobby.  I always enjoyed embossing.  I had the stamp pad and pens with the embossing fluid in them.  Loved drawing lines on things to emboss.  Would be be
autiful to add to the tips, etc of your cut out butterfly wings  Just a
thought.  You can try out so many different ways to use it.  So much fun.  I always did it on paper plates so I could easily pour the excess powder back in the jar.  You will have to take pictures and show me what you do with it.  I just made this border and look at the change in spacing.  Makes me so angry.  Will have to try and play with it.  Nope, I cannot fix it.  It is staying like this.  Hope it does not overlap for you.  It seems to be getting closer and closer together.
I am saying good night now.  Have lost my font and my sizing.  I need to shut down before I lose my post.
XOXOXO

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT

This had better be quick cuz I'm not dressed yet and we need to leave early for the Neurologists.   I'm not sure if the boss wants to go out for lunch or dinner today or not.   We did make it to The Bonefish for Brunch yesterday and it was great.   He had a fabulous lobster dish ~ they took a whole lobster and cut chunks of it into a fabulous melding of several different cheeses on a bed of spinach with something, but left the claws 'as is'.  Seriously yummy.   I had Cream Brule French Toast.  Also Yum!

Today we're looking at a high of 82.  I can handle that!     Shauna said she was going to bring some samples of cheesecake that she is making for a fundraiser for her cheerleading squad over for us to sample.   I don't think we need samples, we're sure to order it.  She is cleaning for both Sue and Annette today, so she'll fit us in.  I told her we would be gone in the morning.

Boy, the fun never ends, does it.  Now your TV!  I hope they can get it fixed and come on time!

What a beautiful tag and border!   I love it ~~ Thank you!

Talking about making tags and cards "from scratch" ~ I was just talking to Mike about that last night.   I view a lot of Pintrest and get ideas and then I'm all excited to make something and I find that in spite of all the stuff I've bought, I don't have the right paper, or stamp, or die or whatever.  So then I have to go back to the drawing board.  Most of the cards I made for Mike ~ well, heck.  Most of the card's I've made PERIOD have been like that.  Planning to use someone else's great idea and then find I can't and I end up making something that really is entirely mine ~ or almost entirely.  I've been surprised at how well some of them turned out, just from "me".   I get really frustrated because I'm slow and I spend more time looking for things than DOING something, but in the end I've been rather pleased.

After I posted yesterday, I remembered that you said I was losing my Curmudgeon Title.   Is that the way you see me??    A Curmudgeon?

Oooh, I really have to go.  It's amazing how fast time files when I get online.

Love 'n Hugs
