Hello

This will be short.  Shauna comes this morning and then about the time she leaves my niece Catherine (from Wisconsin) and her son Robert and his daughter Lucy are stopping over for a visit.   The house will be nice and clean at least, and it will be fun to see them all.

Last night we finally watched the Olympics all night, and could we have picked a better night to have watched?  USA! USA! USA!

A bit cooler today, only reaching the low 80s.  Should be a nice day all in all ~~~ and we should end it totally exhausted.  LOL

Sending good thoughts for your sister's surgery.  My mind has gone blank ~~ Diane??  What is the surgery?   I'm so sorry I can't remember.  (smacking myself upside the head).  It really sounds awful!

Take care of You.  Later, my lovely.

I gotta go!

THESE ALL SAY LUCINDA BUT ALL I SEE IS COMIC SANS.  SO ODD REALLY.

MY SISTER DIANE IS THE ONE THAT TEACHES.  SHE IS HAVING HER ANKLE REPLACED.  THEY TOOK HER INTO SURGERY AT 8:45 AND SHE WENT INTO RECOVERY AROUND 3.  DOCTOR SAYS ALL WENT VERY WELL AND HE ALSO LENGTHENED HER ACHILLES TENDON SO THAT SHE WILL HAVE MORE MOVEMENT IN THE ANKLE.  HE INSURANCE ONLY IS ALLOWING 1 DAY FOR THE SURGERY AND THE DOCTOR SAYS THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN GO HOME IN ONE DAY. SO SHE IS WORRYING ON THAT ISSUE.  I AM SURE SHE IS IN TONS OF PAIN AND I HOPE THEY ARE KEEPING IT CONTROLLED.  MOM TALKED TO HER FOR JUST A VERY SHORT TIME.  SHE SEEMED TIRED.  I WOULD THINK YOUR WOULD HAVE A SLEEP HANGOVER AFTER THAT LONG OUT.  THAT IS A LOT OF SURGERY TIME.  MY SISTER JOANNE SAT UP THERE ALL DAY WITH HER.  SHE WILL BE GOING TO JOANNE'S FOR A WEEK AFTER SHE GETS OUT AND JO TOOK VACATION TO HELP HER.  THEN SHE THINKS SHE WILL BE FINE ON HER OWN. NOT SO SURE OF THAT.

NOTHING ELSE GOING ON TO TELL YOU ABOUT.  THINGS HAVE BEEN VERY QUIET OTHERWISE. SO WILL SAY CIAO FOR NOW.

HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT

Good morning all.  I thought I'd join you at the beach today.  We're heading for 88, but as long as you stay in the shade, it's rather nice.  In the sun, it gets HOT.

We had a nice visit with the family ~ Catherine is heading back to Wisconsin today.   She had called the night before and Shauna was already scheduled for the morning so we had to have them come in the afternoon.    Lucy is an energy ball, but when the energy runs out, it runs out.   She's lovely (in my opinion), very tall and slender but she was approaching cranky.   No pictures ~ she was telling everyone "Don't look at me!"  (lol) then crying because she was scared when her (very tall) dad picked her up to let her see things, and ~~ well, I wish we'd been able to get together in the morning when she was fresh.  I did get hugs and a nice, though short visit with Catherine and Robert.  It really was good to see them all.

We got a new Culvers Restaurant near us so we went there last night for carry out burgers and onion rings and cole slaw, and a malt for Mike.   Burgers were good but not great and so were the onion rings.  The Malt and coleslaw, on the other hand, really were great.    Yup.  Leftovers for tonight.

So I had remembered that it was Diane who was undergoing surgery, but I had totally forgotten that it was ankle replacement.   I've never heard of that kind of surgery before, and it sounds absolutely awful!  Hard to stand without putting weight on your ankle ~ thank goodness for crutches or a walker?   I love the way your family always comes together for each other, and that Diane will be staying with Joanne for at least the first week.   I'll be adding my prayers for her quick and complete healing.

Have a lovely day!

HELLO FROM HOT AND MUGGY WISCONSIN.  SURE GLAD I HAVE NO WHERE TO GO.

SUZ TOOK MOM UP TO SEE DIANE FOR A WHILE THIS AFTERNOON.  THERAPY TRIED HER WITH THE KNEE CART IN THE MORNING AND THAT WAS A DISASTER BECAUSE HER KNEE IS NUMB SO SHE CANNOT FEEL IT ON THE CART.  SHE WOULD HAVE FALLEN AS THE KNEE SLIPPED OFF THE CART BUT THE THERAPIST CAUGHT HER AND PREVENTED THE FALL.  THIS AFTERNOON THEY TRIED HER WITH A WALKER AND THAT WENT WELL SO THAT MIGHT BE A BETTER OPTION.  SHE GOT TO HAVE HER CATHETER OUT SINCE IT WENT WELL.  SHE WILL BE GETTING OUT TOMORROW AND GOING TO JOANNE'S.  IF SHE IS NOT READY IN A WEEK TO BE ON HER OWN SHE MAY COME HERE.  POOR MOM...DIANE AND I HAVE THE SAME TASTE IN TV...OTHER THAN SPORTS,,, DIANE DOES LIKE TO WATCH THE PACKERS, BREWERS ETC.

MONDAY I WILL CALL KERMIT TO SEE IF HE CAN FIX MY LAPTOP.  DO NOT WANT TO BUG HIM ON THE WEEKEND.  SAME WITH THE PEOPLE FOR THE RECLINER.

NOTHING ELSE NEW HERE.  PRETTY BORING THESE DAYS.

CHECK IN WITH YOU TOMORROW.

XOXOXO

Hello
I had a super lazy do-nothing day yesterday.  I'd better get a card made at the very least today, or I'm not going to have cards for Mike's Big-7-0 on the 30th.  I know there is a lot of time, but the way I keep putting things off, soon there won't be.   (Now watch me flake off today, too.)

I can see the idea of a knee cart for Diane, but a walker?  Won't she have to put weight on  that just replaced ankle?  You sure wouldn't want her numb knee to slip when she was walking on the knee cart, but it doesn't seem like she should be putting her weight on that 'new' ankle so soon.   Of course I know so much more than the Medical Staff does ~ lol.     It always shocks me how quickly people are out of the hospital after surgery that sounds so serious to me.
If she does come to your house, will she have trouble with your steps?   It might be kind of nice for you to have some support with your TV watching for a bit though ~ (insert evil laugh).

I really hope everything (lap top, recliner) can be fixed, and without costing the National debt.

Make it a happy day!

ANOTHER DAY OF SHEER BOREDOM.  OMG, I AM SEEING A FONT I HAVE NEVER SEEN HERE BEFORE THAT IT IS NOT THE ONE THAT WAS ALREADY ON THE BORDER.  I LOVE IT.  I WONDER WHAT IT IS?  I DO SEE SOMETHING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE ON THE LIST.  IT MUST BE THAT.

I HAVE NOT CALLED YET.  I HAVE ORDERED A NEW CHARGER/ADAPTER FOR MY BACK UP DELL.  I BELIEVE MOM THROUGH THE OTHER ONE AWAY, OR I COULD BE HAPPILY USE IT.  AMAZON PROMISES TO HAVE IT HERE ON WED.  ONCE I GET IT UP AND RUNNING I WILL CALL KERMIT FOR MY HP.  I HAVE BEEN CREATING ON IT AT LEAST.  WILL DOWNlLOAD TO A FLASH DRIVE AND THEN PUT THEM ON THE DELL AND SHARE.
I KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT THE CHAIR.

DIANE IS HAPPILY ENSCONCED AT JOANNE'S.  SHE CANNOT EVE TOE TOUCH WITH HER FOOT.  SHE HAS TO STAND ON ONE LEG, PUT THE WALKER FORWARD AND THEN HOLDING ONTO THE WALKER WITH BOTH HANDS PUTTING ALL HER WEIGHT ON HER AR,MS, SWING HER GOOD FOOT FORWARD AND PUT IT DOWN.  SAME AS YOU WOULD WITH CRUTCHES BUT THE WALKER HAS MORE STABILITY.

MOM AND I WILL BE "BABYSITTING" DIANE ON FRIDAY.  JASON HAS BASEBALL AND JOANNE HAS TO WORK THE CONCESSION STAND.  BUT WE WILL BE WATCHING THE GAME ON TV, SO THAT IS SUPER COOL.  TOMORROW I WILL SHARE SOME PICS OF THE KIDS,L&B'S GRANDS, IT WAS SAILER'S BIRTHDAY.
THEY GOT SOME GREAT SHOTS OUT AT LOUANN AND BRUCE'S.

LOVE YOU FOREVER,

annnieM

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/16/2016 8:23 AM)

Good Morning.

We are going out to lunch with our neighbors John and Sue (my card making buddy) today.   The restaurant is Italian with a good sounding menu, but more interesting is it's history, and I thought I would share some of that with you.
Gaetano's

I just ordered a book about the Smaldone Crime Family who started the restaurant, which Sue tells me is a fascinating look at early Denver.  Here's a blurb from one of the reviews.

Smaldone: The Untold Story of an American Crime Family

In 1933, after Denver boss Joe Roma was found "slumped in his favorite overstuffed chair in the front parlor,...riddled with seven bullets, six of them to the head," his up-and-coming bootlegging proteges Clyde and Eugene Smaldone took over his profitable operations. Over the years, the brothers and various other family members were frequently in the news, occasionally in jail, and generally in control of their realm. Theirs was an independent operation, but the Smaldones enjoyed the friendship of crime superstar Al Capone and were frequently in cahoots with New Orleans Mafia boss Carlos Marcello, to whom Clyde was particularly close. The Smaldones contributed to Denver's municipal ambience positively, too, as restauranteurs and generous contributors to charity. Kreck's detailing of the doings of a relative outpost of the racketeering industry is, besides a rich chapter in Colorado history, an excellent addition to the popular literature on organized crime. --Booklist (September 15, 2009) of Chicago, IL by Mike Tribby --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

An interesting part of Denver history, made more interesting by the fact that Pauline Smaldone, the first wife of one of the Dons, Chauncy, was the mother of one of our neighbors, and lived with them until her death last year.  She was in her 90s and did all the cooking for the three of them.   I met Pauline a couple of times at parties, but had no idea about her past.    One of the references said that she took part in Bookmaking ~~ I don't think that means that she put jacket covers on books.  lol

Her daughter, Claudia is one of the social leaders of our little neighborhood.  They are the ones who have the three whippets.  Hers is an interesting story too.  She and Eddie were in love in their youth, but broke up and Claudia married I think two times before she and Eddie found each other again a few years ago and are happily married now.    When Pauline died, several of the neighbors brought food and Sue said that she offered condolences to Eddie and told him how good he had been to his mother-in-law.   Eddie said to Sue "She scared me."   LOL

Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Love 'n Hugs,

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT

I've spent close to two hours fighting Aimoo problems.  I had a lengthy post written telling you about our lunch yesterday and talking to each person in the other group, but it scrolled, and then it incorporated a bunch of other junk and then . . . well, on and on.

I know you've been there and done that so you understand.  I just can't take anymore today.

That's the message I came in to post ~ and then I see that you are having even a worse day.   Believe me, I FEEL your pain!

Why does your mother do that?   I think she should pay for a new adapter for you as a lesson to her.  Seriously.   Of course I know you won't make her do that ~~ but she should.  She sees what you go through.   So now, I'm mad at her AND the Universe.

I'm alive, I'm angry, I'm not fun to be around right now.

See you tomorrow.

D.

You know I am feeling you.  I am so sorry you had to deal with all that.
It really does suck and in the past when you have lost a post and rewritten it I have given you a lot of credit.  When it happens to me, I just lose it and cannot begin to do it again.  Who can explain what Aimoo does.  I just tell myself that they are only machines and machines break down.  You should hear my mother when her iPad screws up.  For a woman who raised 6 kids of her own and who knows how many kids of others, she has none when it comes to internet.

She did it because she has found so many cords, cables and adapters in the back room, which is where all computer stuff is.  but that is from numerous computers, keyboards, monitors, routers, TV's and more.  Because I could not tell her what they belonged to  So then she told me, I am just throwing them out.  But I have always kept the laptop and its adapter in a bag in the book case,  A yellow bag.  So then when I recalled I had a back up I glanced and did not see it.  So asked her if she knew where it was.  She said it is in the bookcase and I said it was not.  She got up and said it is right here.  So I got up and it was in the case with a lot of craft paper, etc sitting on it.  I said. where is the bag it was in with the cords. We both looked and found nothing.  I went back to my chair and mom said no more and I then remembered what she said about throwing cords away.  So when I told her I ordered a new one, I told her I was sure she had thrown it away.  She did not say a word and did not offer to pay for the replacement.  But no, I would not ask her to as I cannot prove she did and she cannot remember one way or the other.  At least I am up and running now.  Just need to get
PSP on this computer and I will be set.  Then I can see if Kermit can so anything with it.

I am glad you had a nice, but short visit with your family.  It is nice that they are able to come your way.  Too bad about no pictures.  Would have liked to have seen them.

Tomorrow I go for my INR.  Keep your fingers crossed for 4 weeks, lol.

XOXOXO

Hello My Lovely.

I won't recap my terrible, awful, horrible, very bad yesterday.  I'll just say it didn't get better until late afternoon.

I won't try to recap what I said yesterday, other than that we really had a nice time at Gaetano's.  The atmosphere was fun and the food was some of the best Italian food I'd had in years!  I brought home half of my Chicken Marsala (heavenly) and Mike brought home a Lasagna dinner.  So, having had a bite or two off of his plate, I brought home an order of Gnosshi like he had too!   I'm sure John and Sue have no trouble knowing why we are fat.  lol    We had dinner from Gaetano's last night and will tomorrow night as well ~ missing the wonderful tiramisu.

I think we're going to The Keg tonight as Mike's second birthday celebration.  This one is on them ~ or at least his meal is.  We'll still have to pay for mine, but we really can't complain about that, can we?

I'm so glad you are back in business today!   I hope Kermit brings good news too.

Have a happy day.

Ooh, I do love good Italian food.  It had been a long time since I have gone our for it.  Years!.. I would love some Shrimp Scampi.  Mmmm, though I am not a fan of
Tiramisu.  You can have my share.

Went for INR and it was 3,0.  Keep same dose and eat at least one  dark green each week and if my number is in range in 3 weeks then I can go to 4 weeks.  So that is my goal.  We have been eating tomatoes out of our garden for lunch in our salads and on the side for supper.  Love those fresh tomatoes.
Ok, picture time,  be prepared, I have a few to share.  Not saying how many that is, lol.

SAILER'S BIRTHDAY.

SMELLING THE WILD FLOWERS.

I THINK SHE LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE FAIRY RUNNING THROUGH THE WOODS.

THE BIG BALL

FINN

LIAM

SAM

LIAM AND SAM

THE GENTLEMAN AND THE LADY

OK, THAT'S ALL I AM SHARING.  HOPE YOU MADE IT THOUGH TO THE END.

RE:WELCOME TO AUGUST CHAT
(Date Posted:08/19/2016 10:37 AM)

Good Morning.

Looks like it's going to be cooler today, only a 'high' of 73, and maybe rainy this afternoon!  We'll see.  It's definitely overcast right now, and the lawn mowers are doing their thing.

We had Mike's Keg Dinner last night ~ delish.  He had his usual Shrimp Cocktail, and I had that "Lobster Month" appetizer I had before, bacon wrapped lobster bites.  Lovely!   Then he ordered Lobster and I had a filet and and those wonderful braised mushrooms and we mixed and matched ~~ and I brought 3/4 of my steak home!   We didn't even order desert.

Sadly, I had another bad night, couldn't stop coughing and kept Mike up.  I was going to go sit up in the Morning Room but Mike wouldn't hear of it, so I don't think either of us got to sleep until after 3AM.  Surprisingly, we feel pretty good today, but I won't promise we won't be snoozing in front of the TV later.   We definitely have dinner ready to heat and eat, both tonight and tomorrow!

My book on the Smaldones came yesterday and it really looks good.  In spite of being a paperback, it has pictures that are fun to see and help let you put faces to names.   There is a lovely pic of the young Pauline (our neighbor) and an explanation of that reference to her as Chauncey's first wife.   They had been married 35 years and the family loved her and enjoyed her wit and humor, when Chauncey became involved with "Jeannie", who sounds like a perfectly dreadful woman who constantly took what wasn't hers ~~ including Pauline's husband.   It was confusing before because there was a picture of Chauncey's headstone with one for Pauline next to it.  Anyway, one mystery solved.  Now I'll start reading from the front of the book.  lol

I would love to take you to Gaetano's.   I think you would get as big a kick out of the history as you would enjoy the food, which really was wonderful.  They did have a Shrimp Scampi appetizer for lunch, and we were both tempted.   How can you not like Tiramisu?!   How is that even possible!  Unimaginable!  lol

I'm sorry your INR wasn't a bit lower, but 3 is still not terrible.  Fingers crossed  it's in the middle next time.

OOOOh, LOOK at the wonderful pictures!  Not only the kids are adorable, which they are, but the photographer is no slouch either. ;-)     Absolutely Precious!!   I love seeing them!

Let's have a good today ~ okay?

Hugs,

IT WAS NOT TOO BAD A DAY.  DID NOT GO TO BED TILL 4:30 AM, BUT SLEPT TILL 11:AM  CHRIS CLEANED THE HOUSE TODAY.AND IT LOOKS GOOD,  SHE WAS GOING TO DO IT YESTERDAY BUT SHE WAS TOO HUNGOVER.  SO MOM TOLD HER SHE WAS FIRED AND TO COMEBACK TOMORROW.  SHE SAID SHE HAD HER STOMACH PROBLEM THAT THE DOCTORS CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG,  SHE HAS PICKLED HER STOMACH...THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG.

MMM. MMM, I WANT YOUR FOOD FROM THE KEG.  I WANT WHAT YOU HAD.  A GOOD RIB EYE BEATS EVERYTHING.  MAYBE I JUST HAVE NOT HAD GOOD TIRAMISU.  I HAD ONE THAT GARY AND STEVE MADE.  THEY USUALLY COOK  REALLY WELL, WHATEVER IT WAS, I WILL PROBABLY NOT ORDER IT AGAIN.  LAST TIME I ARE ITALIAN I HAD THOSE CREAM PUFF TYPE THINGS.  I AM DRAWING A BLANK FOR THE WORD..  WAIT...CANNOLI MAYBE?

I THINK MOST OF THOSE PICTURES WERE TAKEN BY KIRSTIE. SHE DOES PHOTOGRAPHY AS A HOBBY.  SHE LIKES TO WORK WITH HER DAD IN HIE PHOTO SHOP HE HAS SET UP IN THE BASEMENT.  HE HAS A FULL STUDIO DOWN THERE.WHEN HE FINALLY GETS HIS WEBSITE SET UP, I WILL GIVE YOU THE LINK.  HE HAS NOT ADDED THE PHOTO GALLERY TO IT YET,

I HAVE PSP ADDED TO THIS COMPUTER NOW,  SO JUST NEED TO GET THE THINGS I MADE ON THE OTHER OVER TO THIS COMPUTER THEN I WILL GIVE KERMIT A CALL.  HE CAN TELL ME IF HE CAN RESTORE MY LAPTOP OR IF IT IS NOT WORTH THE EFFORT.  MAYBE HE WILL HAVE A GOOD DEAL FOR ME AGAIN.  SO I SHALL BE CALLING HIM ON MONDAY.

LOT YOU LOTS!!
