RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/01/2013 7:09 AM)

Welcome to April and
Happy April Fool's Day!

Our weather is changing again. It was so warm yesterday we had the AC on for a short while, but today we could see rain or even a bit of snow.

The Easter Bunny visited and brought me books and a chocolate peanut butter egg, and he brought Mike cake pops and a new Walking Stick, so now he can keep that in one car and his Irish Shelaleigh in the other.

We started watching Ben Hur on Saturday evening and finished watching it yesterday. Then we watched almost the entire History Channel Mini Series "The Bible". Did any of you watch that? Really well done and I think I may have enjoyed watching it all at once rather than one hour a week. Still, two crucifixions in one day was a bit much for me! (I realize how that sounded ~ the burden of watching two, from the comfort of my lounge chair with my feet up and a Dr Pepper at my side. I'm ashamed, and I deserve to be) Both shows were very moving and helped me refocus on the real meaing of Easter.

smiley5
annnieM, your "abbreviated Easter" would be a huge banquet to me ~ lol.   I'm intimidated by entertaining 2 or 3 people these days.    I dimly remember that I used to throw big parties in my long lost youth, but I'm sure not up for it today.

Henry's first Easter!   I'll bet it was fun for all of you (and he probably slept through it ~ Ha!)
Your Easter menu sounded wonderful!

Oh, No!  After all this time and your wheelchair isn't comfortable!  How awful!  You say they are still working on it ~ do you have hope they can fix it so it will be good for you??   This is terrible!

I will echo Lou Ann ~ if there is ever a time when you want me to use any of the skins I make for the other group here, just let me know.   You always make such cute ones, but I know things can become challenging, so if you ever need a hand, just say the word.

    smiley5
Lou Ann, great opening page, as always!  So many interesting facts and you find such cute graphics to illustrate them!

Yes, April is Parkinson's Awareness month and that is near and dear to my heart.

April is the Cruelest Month ~ and I just finished reading "The Crulest Month" by Louise Penny.

Gosh, can you imagine what would happen if we all did celebrate The Golden Rule this week?  We might change the world!

Do you love that April Fool's Day and Athiest Day are the same?
Or is that just me?  LOL
I remember an email I received telling of an Athiest who complained that all the religions had special days but there was no day for Athiests.  He demanded we stop celebrating all the religious holidays.   Judge threw the case out because he said that the Athiest did indeed have a designated day ~ April Fool's Day!
smiley5

Happy April Fool's, Everyone!

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/01/2013 11:54 PM)

JUST A QUICK NOTE.

SAW THE DOCTOR AGAIN TODAY AND HE

SAYS I WILL RECOVER, LOL :)

IN TIME, THE MUSCLE PAIN IN THE LEGS WILL

DISSIPATE.  MY O2 SATS ARE STILL LOW AT 92.

THAT TOO SHOULD GET BETTER IN TIME.

I WAS RUNNING A TEMP, WHICH SURPRISED ME.

IF THE TEMP AND THE COUGH ARE NOT BETTER

BY FRIDAY THEN HE WANTS TO SEE ME AGAIN.

IT WAS TOO SOON TO REPEAT THE CHEST XRAY.

HAD MY INR DRAWN AT THE LAB AND THEY CALLED

ME TO TELL ME THAT MY NUMBERS ARE WITHIN MY

RANGE, SO RECHECK IN 4 WEEKS.  NOTHING ABOUT

THE FACT THAT IT SHOULD BE AN APPT IN THE CLINIC

AS THAT IS WHAT THIS ONE SHOULD HAVE BEEN, LOL.

I WAS NOT ABOUT TO REMIND THEM...I LIKE GOING TO

THE LAB AT MY CONVENIENCE MUCH BETTER.

WE HAD A NICE EASTER....HAM, MASHED POTATOES AND

GRAVY, DRESSING, CHEESY CAULIFLOWER, CORN, FRUIT

SALAD AND GRANDS ROLLS.  FOR DESSERT... PISTACHIO

BROWNIE CAKE AND CHERRY PIE.  TOO MUCH FOOD!!!

ALL WENT WELL AND I GOT TO WATCH "EASTER PARADE"

WITH JUDY GARLAND AND FRED ASTAIRE.  ONE OF MY

FAVORITES!!!  A LOVELY DAY ALL IN ALL.

DOROTHY, I HAVE HEARD THAT JUDGE STORY AND I THOUGHT

IT WAS A TRUE STORY AND THAT WAS HOW IT BECAME ATHEIST

DAY.  WOULD HAVE TO RESEARCH THAT TO SEE IF IT IS TRUE.

HOW DID YOU LIKE THE SIBLINGS PICTURE??

HUGS,

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN

Hello, everyone.

It looks like we won't get the snow they had been threatening, but we are likely to get some rain. That's ok. Can you believe they say we are going to be in drought again this year. Humbug! Watering restrictions, brown weedy lawn ~ phooey. Maybe it won't be as bad as it was several years ago.

I see that today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day.
Sounds good to me!

I did the money transfers yesterday and balanced the check books, so today I need to tackle the dread Budget Book. I realize my Budget Book is not sophisticated and is they kind of thing people make fun of, just loose leaf paper and hand drawn lines separating categories, but I'd really like to offer one like it to my government to use. Using it, we seem to keep ahead of the bill collectors, which is something my government can't say. Just a thought . . . . .
smiley18

Lou Ann, I'm glad to know that you WILL recover.    I'm sure for a while there if felt like you would not.  How awful that you not only had to deal with not being able to breath and having all the other issues, but then the cure was almost worse than the illness that brought you to the Dr!   Thank goodness that, too, will soon be over!

I'm glad our INR numbers were good and you don't have to mess with retesting too soon on top of everything else!

Your Easter dinner sounded lovely ~ except for the cauliflower, of course.

I have no idea if that story about the Judge and Athiest Day is true or not, but it's a great story ~ and it makes perfect sense to me.

OhMyGosh ~ is that picture of YOUR Siblings??  I didn't even pick up on it!  Too much going on lately.  My mind is on overload.  Ha.  Great pic!

BTW, you are doing a great job with the skin.
smiley49

annnieM, I hope you had a wonderful Easter, too.

Mary Ann, where the heck are you?!   I hope all is well for you.

Y'all have a good day now, y'heah?

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/02/2013 10:00 AM)

We had a good Easter!  My sister in law told me they would not come because they are moving, but then they showed up anyway.  Their married daughter and her husband came also, so we were 17.  It was good to see them but I was a little ticked off that they showed up when they told me specifically they wouldn't be here.  Sheesh.  We had plenty of food so it was not a problem, but we had all gotten our plates and were sitting at the table and there was no room set for them so we had to scramble.  Dagnabit.  The good news is they got to witness the scramble, so maybe they will tell me next time.  No biggie, I guess.  Henry was the star of our Easter and I think everyone held him.

What a beautiful skin, Lou Ann!  You did a great job on the opening page also!  I totally missed April fool's day and Atheist day and I have some in the family.  Actually I have both in the family.  Many fools and a couple Atheists.  Tee hee.  Don't anyone tell my husband there is a day to celebrate him.  Actually, he deserves it.  Now I have to go back and check out what day.  Glad you had a nice Easter!  Happy to hear that the side effects will go away in time.  Is that a picture of your siblings?  Which one are you?  I am really going to fail on the 19th of this month.  If I'm silent I will blow up!  I'm surprised they don't combine that with husband appreciation day.  LOL.

Hi Dorothy!  Glad you had a lovely Easter also!  My chair is getting better slowly.  Yesterday Jamie took pictures of the scratches (on the outside of my calves) I've got from this chair.  The funny thing is I got a survey from them asking how they did.  Boy are they going to get an earful!

Wishing everyone a terrific Tuesday!

GrannyM

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/02/2013 7:22 PM)

HELLO LADIES
I HAVE JUST BEEN TRYING TO RESEARCH THE ORIGIN OF
NATIONAL ATHEISTS DAY AND REALLY CANNOT FIND ONE.
THERE IS THE URBAN LEGEND ABOUT THE JUDGE SAYING
THAT APRIL FOOL'S DAY BEING THEIR HOLIDAY AND THAT
WAS BASED ON THE BIBLE AND STATEMENTS ABOUT ATHEIST
BEING FOOLS AND FOOLISH.  SO IT SEEMS THAT SOMEONE
PUT IT ALL TOGETHER AND ACTUALLY MADE IT ATHEIST DAY.
I COULD NOT FIND INFO ON WHETHER ATHEISTS ACTUALLY
RECOGNIZED IT AS THEIR HOLIDAY OR NOT AND COULD NOT
FIND ANYTHING.  TOO FUNNY DON'T YOU THINK??
I WILL BE WORKING ON OUT BUDGET AND CHECKBOOKS
TOMORROW AS WE GET PAID ON THE 3RD.  I AM PRETTY
SURE I WILL BE PAYING OFF ONE OF MY CREDIT CARDS
TOMORROW AND THEN I WILL BE FOCUSING ON THE BIG ONE.
I CAN ADD THE MONEY I WAS PAYING ON THE ONE I AM PAYING
OFF TO THE PAYMENTS I AM ALREADY MAKING.  IT WILL TAKE
FEW YEARS, BUT I CAN DO IT.
DOROTHY, MAYBE WE SHOULD PUT YOU IN CHARGE OF THE
NATIONS BUDGET....THOUGH I DO NOT THINK YOUR WOULD
ENJOY THE STRESS OF THE POSITION.
YES, THE SIBLING PICTURE IS MY FAMILY...BUT IT IS MINUS
THE YOUNGEST, LEIGH, AS HE WAS NOT BORN YET.  I AM
ON THE FAR RIGHT.  MICHAEL, MY OLDER BROTHER IS IN
THE PIC.  HE WAS BORN ON APRIL 1 AND NOT ONE WOULD
BELIEVE MY DAD WHEN HE SAID THEY HAD A BABY.  THEN
WHEN HE FINALLY CONVINCED THEM THEY WOULD NOT
BELIEVE THE SEX.  DAD COULD NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT
FOOLING ANYONE....HE WAS A FIRST TIME FATHER :D
MIKE WOULD HAVE BEEN 58 YESTERDAY, BUT HE DIED AT
AGE 19 AND I WAS NEARLY 18.  SADLY I DO NOT HAVE A
LOT OF MEMORIES OF MIKE.  HE MARCHED TO HIS OWN
DRUMMER.  WE GIRLS ALWAYS PLAYED TOGETHER. MIKE
WAS ALWAYS OUT AND ABOUT.  HE WAS A GOOD KID.
GOD HAS A VERY SPECIAL ANGEL IN HIM.
ANNNIEM, THAT WAS REALLY RUDE OF YOUR FAMILY TO SHOW
UP LIKE THAT AFTER THEY HAS SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE THERE.
THOUGH, I SUPPOSE A PLEASANT SURPRISE IN THE LONG RUN
HAVING THEM THERE....BUT IT IS A HOST/HOSTESS NIGHTMARE.
OF COURSE HENRY WAS THE CENTER OF EASTER.  WHAT A
JOY TO HAVE HIM THERE.  I SURE HOPE THEY GET ALL THE
KINKS WORKED OUT OF YOUR WC SO THAT IS BECOMES
A HAVEN FOR YOU.  I WISH I HAD SOMETHING MORE
COMFORTABLE, BUT SINCE I CAN GET OUT AND SIT I AM
SURE I COULD NEVER GET IT COVERED.  I AM LUCKY I HAD
MEDICAID BACK UP AT THE TIME I WAS RENTING MY WC,
BECAUSE THEY BOUGHT IT FOR ME.  IT WAS A VERY PLEASANT
SURPRISE AS I THOUGHT IT WAS STILL A RENTAL AND
TRIED TO SEND IT BACK WHEN I LOST MY INSURANCE AND
HAD TO USE THAT CHEAP ONE.  IT WAS A BLESSING WHEN
I FOUND OUT IT WAS MINE.
I DO NOT THINK I EVER COULD BE SILENT ALL DAY.  EVEN
WHEN I AM ALL ALONE, I WILL OFTEN TALK OUT LOUD TO
MYSELF TO HEAR A VOICE, LOL.
I ACTUALLY THOUGHT IT WAS QUITE A PAIR UP HAVING
HUSBAND APPRECIATION DAY AND POT SMOKING ON THE
SAME DAY.  THAT IS HOW SOME WOMEN CAN APPRECIATE
THEIR HUSBANDS, LOL.
EACH DAY I GET A LITTLE BETTER.  I WILL BE HAPPY WHEN
I DO NOT HAVE TO WALK SO STRANGELY AS IT IS VERY
SLOW GOING TRYING TO WALK WITHOUT LETTING THE
MUSCLES/TENDONS STRETCH.  IT IS NOT EAST AT ALL.  THE
COUGH TOO IT GETTING BETTER...THOUGH STILL HAVE
HORRENDOUS EPISODES OF COUGHING TILL I CHOKE, BUT
NOT NEARLY AS OFTEN.  BUT I AM STILL SO TIRED.  I AM
SLEEPING GOOD, BUT WITH MY BREATHING ISSUES I AM
SURE IT IS NOT QUALITY SLEEP.  SO I WILL JUST KEEP
TRYING.
CATCH YOU ALL TOMORROW.  DO NOT FORGET TO FIND A
RAINBOW.  BRING IT HERE TO SHARE WITH ALL OF US.
HUGS,

I found Rainbows for Find A Rainbow Day!

We didn't get snow nor even much rain yesterday.
Today, we'll see. I don't really expect much if any

I did get the Budget done and after a few boo-boos were discovered, it balanced. Whew.

We need to take the trash out today, but not the Recycles. It's way too early right now ~ still dark out. One of the side effects of Mike's new meds can be bad dreams, and he had one around 4 AM. Let out a yelp! I woke him to save him from whatever was chasing him, and he went right back to sleep. I did not! I gave up around 5 and opened my Lap Top. Anyway, they don't come for trash until sometime in the afternoon, so we have lots of time to get it out there.

smiley2
I'm so glad you had a Happy Easter, GrannieM.  I would be "vexed" with your sister ~ not only coming when she said she would not, but bringing extra people as well!   I don't want to offend you ~ but that's just plain RUDE!   I'm glad they saw that everyone had to scramble to accommodate them, but I wonder if they were even a little embarassed.  I suspect not.

I can well imagine that Henry was the Easter Star!   He is sooo adorable!

Sounds like Dave is in the Dog House.  Well, if he's behaving like a bad dog, that's where he deserves to be. He can come out when he is once again a "Good Boy".    LOL!

I had to check out the 19th of the month ~ Oh, dear.  I don't think that will be a good day for me, either.  Ha!

I'm glad your chair is getting better, but I am so disappointed for you that it isn't right.   My gosh, it's even scratching your legs!  That is so not right!  Bless Jamie for fighting the battles with you.

smiley2

Lou Ann, good luck with the Budget ~ and congratulations on getting one Credit Card paid off!  That's HUGE!

I'm afraid that if I took over the government's budget I would do something radical like telling various departments that they have overspent their budget and they can have no more money to spend until they have paid back what they owe.   Then I fear that one day we'd find my body in an alley behind the White House. Guess I'd best just keep minding my own business ~~ though I really do think the out of control spending is ALL of our business.

smiley2
Sending Happy Hump Day thoughts to everyone.

I AM UNABLE
TO READ ANYTHING UNLESS I MANIPULATE MY TOGGLE DOWN ON THE BOTTOM
I HAVE TO GO BACK AND FORTH AND IT REALLY MAKES ME QUITE DIZZY...smiley83

THIS PHENOMENON IS ONLY HAPPENING IN 'CUPPA GALS' I DON'T GET IT!!!

DOROTHY...
I'M HAVING OFF AND ON WEATHER TOO, TAKE IN POINT WE HAVE A STORM COMING IN THURSDAY...smiley86
IT'S CRAZY, CRAZY...HEY SO THE EASTER BUNNY VISITED YOUR HOUSE???smiley46THAT IS GRAND TO HEAR...
WOW!!! MIKE GOT CAKE POPS AND A NEW WALKING STICK!!! THAT IS COOL AND VERY NECESSARY...
YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MANY CANES I LEAVE PLACES I HAVE TWO CANES NOW PLUS MY DAD'S
WOODEN CANE IN THE HOUSE BUT IT DOESN'T FIT ME VERY GOOD I ONLY USE IT IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS...
GOOD FOR HIM TO GET TWO...I NEED ABOUT TEN...smiley52I'M REALLY BAD ABOUT LOSING THEM...MOST OF THE
TIME I REMEMBER AND GO BACK AND GET THEM...

YOU AND ME BOTH I WAS WATCHING AND BURNING ALL THE GOOD BIBLICAL MOVIES ON THE TUBE...I'M GLAD
I HAVE 'SATELLITE' I GOT THE CHANCE TO BURN TO MY HEARTS CONTENT...THE BURNED THE BIBLE AND HAVE
YET TO WATCH IT...I SAW SEVERAL SHOWS WITH 'ROMA DOWNEY' AND HER HUBBY AND I KNEW IT WAS GOING
TO BE A GOOD SHOW I WANTED TO BE ABLE TO WATCH IT IN IT ALL AT ONCE...MAN THERE WERE A LOT OF REALLY
GOOD BIBLICAL SHOWS ON THIS YEAR BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE 'SATELLITE' TV OR CABLE ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW
WHAT CABLE WAS CARRYING...BEN HUR IS A HUGE FAVORITE OF MINE I WATCH THAT EVERY YEAR AS WELL...I
WATCHED THE PASSION AGAIN!!! VERY MOVING ALL THE MOVIES AND YOU'RE RIGHT THEY BRING THE MEANING

THAT MUCH smiley112EITHER SO THAT DOESN'T HELP...THE PG&E GUYS WERE UP AT MOUNT SHASTA MEASURING THE AMOUNT
OF WATER THAT WE CAN GET FROM THE SNOW, THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THIS EVERYDAY NOW SO THAT CAN MANAGE THE
WATER USAGE BETTER SO WE DON'T WIND UP IN TROUBLE DURING THE SUMMER...I THINK THAT'S A SMART MOVE...
HEAR...HEAR...smiley84

I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER BUT I CAN'T EAT IT FOR IT COULD THROW ME INTO SHOCK AND KILL ME IF I DON'T GET
HELP RIGHT AWAY...DARN NUTS ALL DO THE SAME THING...MY FAVORITE BUBBLE BATH HAD SHEA BUTTER IN IT...
I HAD TO THROW IT AWAY ACCORDING TO THE DR. SO NO NUT PRODUCTS WHATSOEVER WHEN I COULD TAKE
A BUBBLE BATH IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SIT IN BUBBLES WITH WARM VANILLA SUGAR AND SHEA BUTTER...
IT WAS AN EXCELLENT MOISTURIZER FOR YOUR BODY...
I USED TOsmiley51TO MUSIC IN THE DARK W/CANDLES BURNING IT'S SOOOOO NICE...UNTIL I WIN THE
LOTTERY THERE IS NO WAY I CAN TAKE A BATH NOW...IT'S THE ONE THING THAT EASES THE PAIN I HAVE
BUT THOSE BATHTUBS ARE MIGHTY EXPENSIVE, PLUS I LIVE IN A  MOBILE AND I DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN
INSTALL A SAFETY TUB IN MY BATHROOM FOR ME...

HEY LOU ANN I'M RIGHT HERE AND YOUR BREATHING PROBLEMS I CAN FEEL YOUR PAIN AND ANXIETY
EVERY NIGHT WHEN I GO TO BED I HAVE TO BE HALF SITTING UP IN MY BED WITH A BI-PAP ON MY
FACE ALL NIGHT LONG OR I AM NOT ABLE TO BREATHE...I STOP BREATHING AT LEAST FIVE TIMES A NIGHT
ALL NIGHT LONG SO THAT'S A LOT OF MINUTES NOT BREATHING...IT'S SCARY, TO SAY THE LEAST I THINK ONE
NIGHT I'LL JUST DIE IN MY SLEEP EVEN I'M DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO PREVENT IT...smiley77

HAVE YOU BEEN SENT TO A SLEEP CENTER AND SEEN BY A SPECIALIST TO SEE IF YOU HAVE 'SLEEP APNEA'???
THEY SAY MINE'S NOT A SEVERE CASE BUT FEELING THE WAY I DO, AND FINDING OUT HOW IT IS TO WAKE UP AFTER
HAVING QUALITY SLEEP NOW YOU CAN'T PROVE IT BY ME...I HAVE A LOT OF TROUBLE KEEPING ME UPRIGHT BUT WHEN
I'M NOT I CAN'T BREATHE...LATE AT NIGHT I LAY DOWN AND CURL UP INTO THE FETAL POSITION AND SLEEP AND ONLY
ON MY LEFT SIDE THOUGH, OR ELSE I SNORE!!! FUNNY HUH???smiley52

I HAVE DONE ABOUT FOUR LOADS OF LAUNDRY TODAY AND IT'S ALL FOLDED UP AND PUT AWAY!!!
STILL HAVE MY TOWELS TO GO, KITCHEN AND BATH TOWELS DONE SEPARATELY OF COURSE...
I HAVE BEEN REMISS COMING IN BUT BEEN REALLY BUSY TRYING TO CATCH UP WITH MY HOUSE
WORK!!! UCK!!! IT TIRES ME OUT AND I HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY NEXT ROUND OF SHOTS IN MY BACK
YET AND I'M UNABLE TO STAND FOR VERY LONG BEFORE MY BACK STARTS IN...I THEN HAVE TO
STOP WHAT I'M DOING IMMEDIATELY AND TURN ON MY HEATING PAD!!! IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT
IS GETTING ME THROUGH THIS TIME WITH MY BACK PROBLEMS...

SORRY I WILL TRY TO GET ON HERE MORE OFTEN...MY EYES ARE GIVING ME MORE PROBLEMS TOO...
I'M NOT ABLE TO BE ONLINE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIMES ANY MORE, IT TOTALLY WIPES OUT
MY EYES...

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/04/2013 7:58 AM)

Good Morning All

How is your day starting? I didn't get enough sleep last night again, so I 'spect mine won't be wonderful. Ah, well. Mike's claiming his "reward meal" for his visit with his Neurologist tonight ~ Indian. He has pre-ordered Peking Duck. I do believe that means leftovers for tomorrow.

Tom had a really bad day yesterday. I don't know what that means in the scheme of things. One day at a time.

Great to see you Mary Ann.  How are things on the job front?  Has Ann retired yet?   Have you found other jobs to take up the slack??

I don't know why everything looks big to you ~ but I do understand your frustration.   I suspect it has to do with which browser you are using, or something like that.  I hate that things look different to us, because if we can't see the problem, we can't fix it.   Everything looks normal size to me.   I'm on IE8, and I seem to be having more and more problems as people move on to other browsers.

I didn't realize your dad had Parkinsons.   I knew he was bedridden and had terrible circulation problems, but I didn't realize ~ or maybe I forgot ~ that he had Parkinson's.

Your Easter menu sounded wonderful, too ~ except for the cauliflower, of course.  Ha!  I can't think of what those round green gas giving things are ~ LOL.
I'm glad you had a nice Easter!

Ooh, I would hate to be alergic to nuts.  My only food alergy is scallops, and they are easy to avoid.  It's funny because I can and do eat all kinds of shell fish, but let one scallop touch my plate and, well, it ain't pretty.

I had no idea that even using skin products made from nuts could cause an alergic reaction!

I'm hearing more and more negative things about the walk-in bath tubs.  They look like a wonderful solution, but apparently they are quite small so that is a problem for some (it would be for me now!) and in a remodel they can take up the entire bathroom, or darned near it, if you don't have a huge space.  Then there is the problem of having to sit in the tub while all the water drains out before you can open it and leave.  When you win the lottery, ask a lot of questions before you put one in.

Good for you getting one of your credit cards paid off!   Doesn't that make you feel good?!

The night before last, when Mike had the bad dream, he had forgotten he was to only take one of his new pills at night instead of the two he takes morning and again afternoon, so he took 2 and he took them late-ish. That's fine with all his other meds, but obviously the L-dopa type meds shouldn't be taken late and definitely only one. He took his one pill at 7 last night and I didn't hear a peep out of him. He's still sleeping! Hopefully his 'silent night' meant he didn't have any bad dreams.

Sending Happy Thoughts to annnieM and Lou Ann.
Now I must go and get some COFFEE!

We made it through another week!

Last night we went to the Chinese Restaurant, Heaven's Dragon. It's become our new favorite Chinese restaurant, and because it was Mike's "reward meal" we had Peking Duck. We had to order 24 hours ahead, and it was delicious. It's the second time we've had it there, and I'll bet it won't be the last. We had some appetizers and brought home half of the duck along with half of the 'dumplings' (or whatever you call those neat little pouches you put the duck and onions and hoisan sauce into), and of course the steamed rice that we hadn't even touched. Dinner is all ready for tonight ~ Yay!

smiley3
Lou Ann, what wonderful pictures!   Finn is beyond adorable!  That looked like a wonderful party.  The pic of him with his Mickey Mouse ears and Mickey Mouse cake is just tooo cute!

Jinxie is gorgeous!   How come they are moving so soon?  They sounded like good neighbors (except for the shoveling).  I'm sorry you are losing 'your' cat.   I thought that sounded like the best of all worlds ~ you could have a cat to cuddle with, and no litter box duties!   Phooey.

Today is Walk to Work Day, so I think I'll walk into the kitchen and get some coffee.

smiley3
Sending love and hugs to everyone else.

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/05/2013 6:07 PM)

I am having a rough day.  I cannot stay awake for the

life of me.  I even took off my sweater and slippers so

that I would be chilled, but still I want to sleep.  I had

a good nights sleep as far as I know, but since I know I

have sleep apnea, so I guess I probably did not.  Now I

am feeling as if I am getting a cold.  Sneezing and sniffles,

this is so not fair.

Dorothy, your Chinese sounds awesome.  Never have had

Peking Duck, do they serve it with the head on it?  LOL

I wondered a bit when you said you were going for Indian

food but then said that Mike had ordered Peking Duck.

Sadly, James, Cassie, Alivia and Jinx were evicted.  Even

though we got along fine with them, Kathy, the tenant that

lives above them did not, and they were always arguing.  It

is all too long a story to go into, but I think both were at

fault.  James has some learning disability as he had my

sister for a teacher at the high school.  He is also a major

whiner/momma's boy.  Both he and Cassie seem immature.

He has another child from a previous relationship.  He

also has a temper and we recently found out he drinks.  I

had thought a couple times he came in and was chatting that

he had been drinking but mom never agreed.  Now I am

vindicated.  We had the police here the other night because

they were fighting.  We do not know who called...we really

could not hear them too well.  I had turned off the sound

on the TV once to listen because I thought I heard something

but when I did we heard nothing.  They ended up arresting

James for some bail jumping warrant.  A lot we do not know

about them!!  Cassie sat and talked to us quite a while.  She

is very afraid of him at times.  We told her she is always

welcome to come into our place...anytime, if she needs to

escape.  Just walk in, even if we do not answer...and to lock

the door behind her.  All this has led me to be glad they

are moving but I fear for Cassie.  She was in a women's

shelter before they got this apt and he was at home. She

if afraid that if she leaves, James will take their little girl.

He always tells her that. He has always been good with

Alivia, but if he drinks that could be a whole different

story.  He was very upset about the eviction and cried

by us and that is why he was supposedly drinking.  But

Cassie indicated that he often drinks...and not beer, he

drinks the hard stuff.  He is also very much the chauvinist.

He earns the money so everything is his.  She is working

2 waitressing jobs now and bringing in some but he gets

mad if she spends anything at all.  So that is their story.

The apt has a roofing leak so they will not be rerenting it

until they can repair it in better weather, so they are

showing the upper back apt again.  I really better get

going on my bedroom...but cannot till I can do something

physical without coughing my ass off.  Though, that latter

would not be bad, lol.

Have a great weekend my friends,

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/06/2013 9:17 AM)

Hello All.

Aimoo is slow to dead this morning. Hope you're all having better luck.

Our goofy weather and undependable weather folk strike again. Remember oh so long ago when our freezer in the garage became undependable? Well the fridge still worked, so we kept using that. A month or two ago, the fridge stopped working too. We decided to replace it, and ordered a smaller side by side to be delivered on Tuesday, when the weather was nice. Well guess what? Now they are predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow for Tuesday! So what do we do now? We could take a chance and have them go ahead and deliver it then, and hope the snow wasn't coming full force during the delivery time, when we need to have one of both cars parked outside. Or whe could change the delivery date to Thursday when it's supposed to be nice ~~ and hope that our notoriously bad weather folk didn't miss it by two days and the snow is really coming on Thursday. Grrrrrr.

We're going out for brunch today at The Briarwood, my 'reward meal' for being a good girl and going to visit my Cardiologist.

I contacted Carolyn yesterday. Tom is not doing well.
Because of the problems both of them have had medically, there are financial concerns too, so their church is holding a benefit for them on April 14th, and then on April 15th she goes back to the Mayo Clinic for a follow up. The surgery they did to restore the nerves in her face is remarkable, but until recently when our friend took a picture of the two of them in Tom's hospital room I had no idea how bad it was. OhMyGosh, her poor face.

smiley7
Lou Ann, I'm sorry you are still feeling so bad.

I didn't realize I had said Indian ~ clearly I meant Chinese.

It's too bad about the family being evicted, especially when you enjoyed the little girl and jinxie so much, but James does sound like trouble with a capital T.   I feel sorry for poor Cassie and Alvia ~ and Jinxie, too.  I hope they can find a place, and one that accepts cats.   Good of you and your mom to let Cassie know she can come to you if she needs to.

Feel Better!

Love & Hugs to everyone else.

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/06/2013 12:50 PM)

Good Morning Gals...
Well I'm still awaiting my Springtime weather, which so far has alluded us...Actually we had a funnel cloud in Tehama County followed my an actual real live 'TORNADO' that touched down...Now I wonder if that's how I got those what I'm calling 'CROP CIRCLES' in my lawn here and there...Those dem' der' things are still bothering me... My weather today is more of the same (wind, rain, hail, lightening & thunder)...Supposedly get a break for a day where it's only cloudy but will see, and then there's another storm coming right behind this one!!! smiley4

I have to run to the market yuck!!! Then I have to stop at the Pharmacy to get pills...Then when I get back home I have a load of towels to fold up and put away...I'm filling the dishwasher back up again!!! smiley93keeping my kitchen clean as I can...This is how my day is starting off who knows what will happen next...

Dorothy...
Sorry you're not sleeping well hope Mike is doing well with his 'Parkinson's' and behaving himself...Peking Duck, out??? Sounds good to me especially the 'left overs' part...Enjoy!!! I'm sorry that Tom had a bad day yesterday and yes you're right you kinda have to take each day as it comes...I'm remembering when I was in the hospital...Here's hoping he just continues to improve and I'll be praying for him...

Yes Ann has retired yet & to answer your question, no I haven't found another steady job to take her place...I am to the point now of printing out 'Business Cards' and that reminds me...I have a favor to ask of anyone who would like to take up this mission...I'd appreciate some 'Business Cards' or Flyer's made up that have dogs, cats, horses, and of course homes or whatever you can dream up...They could say something like the following words on the cards..."House & Pet Sitter" and then...Call Mary Ann @ insert phone # here..One of the other girls put on the bottom the following..."Leave your worries behind - with me your house & pets are fine...I would like a variety of "Cards" to pass out...Only if you'd like to, you know the 'Business Cards' that fit like six on a page...I am only going to give them out to people I know & trust...You know I have to be careful or I'll lose my $82.00 I'm getting...

I'm still using my same old browser but only 'Cuppa Gals' is huge like this all the others are normal...Firefox which is what I use is generally the fastest Browser out there...I usually have no problems with it...

Oh yes my Dad had 'Parkinson's' as well as all his other woes!!! Remember me telling you about his bad balance and him falling??? Dad wasn't bed ridden really he could get up and be up all day until the last week of his life...

Yep I think we all had a great Easter this year...Makes me happy to hear all the menu's they all sounded so good I know mine was yum...yum...

Oh I'm allergic to fish to!!! Yeah what happens is not very pretty and I think the older we get the worse it is on our poor bodies...Also if you go to a restaurant and they cook their other food in like the grease from the nuts, or the oil the fish was cooked in and you eat it like french fries!!! You know potato's clean up oil so remember that the next time you go out...Like if they fry the french fries in the same oil they do their fish in!!! Yikes!!! You get the picture...

I will be sure to investigate the bath tubs real good...As far as waiting for the water to drain, during that time you could be drying yourself off so that's no problem...We'll have to wait and see win I win...Lol...smiley52I wish...Someday my prince will come to!!!

Whoa there!!! Mike we have to be really careful when taking our pills...I know Dorothy, I have to really watch myself too...I actually have 11 pills I take in the morning, and 8 pills at night...Some you take morning and night, and some you take just at night, then there are some you only take in the morning!!! Talk about a 'Merry-Go-Round' that's the one thing my sister said she hated to do for me when I was recuperating at her house after the hospital...Marian hated being responsible for filling my 'Pill Caddy' up, we made it though safe & sound...

Here's to no more bad dreams!!! I know the ones I had were not just dreams but horrible nightmares where I would actually wake up from a dead sleep looking all around looking for things & people!!! Yuk!!! They seemed to be so real, not like your ordinary dreams at all...No more for me thanks!!!

Lou Ann...
Oops!!! You lost a day??? I lost a day too hey how did that happen??? Oh well I guess it's par for the course...I'm loving all the 'PICS' you put in here for us...Oh my word is 'Finn' the little photogenic guy or what...Loved his hats when my nephew Kevin was little he wore hats all the time too they are so cute at that age...Good shots with the Easter Bunny too and shopping!!! I bet he's good at that...Where the heck did you guys take him swimming??? It's freezing out...

Jinxie what a 'kewl' looking cat, I bet you'll miss her she plopped herself done right in the middle of your family and of course you bonded...Yep you'll miss her little charming self...

Dorothy...
Yep we did make it through another week I can't believe it...

Well good dinner at the restaurant and left overs to take home that is the way to go...Peking Duck & Dumplings that you dunk in sauce...Yum...Yum...

Atta girl Dorothy you go walk into the kitchen for a 'Cuppa Joe' have one on me...

Lou Ann...
Yea you really need a machine to sleep with at nice if your Dr. says you need it you get your insurance will pay for it...Then you'll really see the difference in your quality of sleep...Your sniffles and stuff is from allergies probably for right now things are blooming but big time...Yea that stuff with the tenant's sounds really bad, and nit picky...Sounds like the family had a lot of problems and that 'child protective services' needed to lend a helping
hand...Yes it sounds like this kid needs to be sent to anger management school and no more drinking and how about drugs is he doing them??? That's really hard for a parent to deal with by themselves as they don't want to in-alienate the kids today and that doesn't help...Oh now I get it he's the significant other not a son...Protective services and a an order of protection is what she needs...This guy absolutely sounds like big trouble, she needs to get away from him, get help and keep the kids away from him at all costs!!! Or he'll do what these other guys do they take them home & kill them...He is dangerous, I think I'm happy their moving too for your sake...You take care now...

Dorothy...

All I know is it's huge...Goodness gracious it never rains but it pours...What a mess!!! Well I think your damned if you do and damned if you don't so go ahead and have them deliver it...If you wait until you think that the weather is going to clear up, sure as shootin' that day you'll get snow!!!

Wow two outings in a week lunch @ Briarwood and how was your visit to the Cardiologist, fine I hope...

I will pray for Carolyn's new surgery and hope that all goes well with it...It's good that the Church is stepping up and holding drives for money to help them...Having a double whammy hit in your family is really tough...

Well everybody have a good Saturday...

Healing hugs and prayers going out to all in need...

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL CHECK IN
(Date Posted:04/06/2013 11:52 PM)

Good Morning.

Yesterday we went to brunch at the Briarwood. This is the place where we have gone for High Tea. I know you have seen the pictures. We had read that brunch included champagne, a fruit cup, pastries and an entree. We had no idea how MUCH that included ~ it was almost funny, but very nice.

The pastry tree from both sides and the fruit "cup"

Can you guess that we brought quite a lot of it home?smiley54

Instead of 'plain' champagne Mike had a Mimosa and I had Champagne with Creme de Cassis (Raspberry Liquor)

Mike ordered Prime Rib Benedict, which turned out to be eggs Benedict with a "side" of really delicious prime rib.

I ordered a Monte Cristo, which after eating much of the pastry tray and fruit cup, proved to be way too much. I brought home three pieces along with the strawberry sauce for Mike to have for lunch (lunches?).

We came home stuffed ~ and ready for a nap!

smiley40
Mary Ann, I haven't done anything worthwhile with PSP for ages, so I don't think I'll volunteer to make your business cards.   I hope you are able to find something soon!

I'm sorry you are having trouble reading things here in Cuppa.  I'm using the old IE8, and it's fine ~ which is good news, bad news.   If we can't see the problem, we can't fix it!

Sending good thoughts for you to find the perfect job, and soon!
