RE:WELCOME TO APRIL
(Date Posted:04/15/2014 7:32 PM)

Here is the Easter version of our Header.  I made 2

versions of it, the Spring one and the Easter one.

Thought it was time to share the Easter one.

I went for my bloodwork today and it was in range,

albeit the bottom of the range, but they were ok with

it.  I get to go 3 weeks this time.  Whoopty Do!!  LOL

Want to hear something silly. Kirstie took the Liam to

Louann's workplace today and posted a pic of Louann

holding him there.  I got so jealous and was hurt that

all those women got to see him before I did.  Now I

know this is ridiculous but it is how I feel. I so want to

hold him.  I think of these girls as my own and that I

have not seen him yet bothers me.  Rissa, is my darling

and she knew how much I missed getting to see Finn

when he was a baby.  She said don't worry LouLou,

when I have a baby you will get to see him all the time.

I do not think that is so, but I know she will make more

of an effort to make sure I see him than the others

have.  Still, I want to see Liam so much it hurts.

Happy you got some sleep and sorry you could not see

the moon last night.  Seems not many could.

Hugs,

Good Morning.

Marcela comes this morning, so I thought I would post early.  Yesterday was "Lobster Day" at the Bonefish, so we went for dinner last night.  I had my wonderful lobster rolls, and Mike had a steak topped with Lobster Thermador which he declared delicious.  For dessert, we split a piece of Key Lime Pie.

Our new Washer and Dryer come tomorrow!   They should call us about a time period today.   I have a load of towels just waiting for them.

Not much else going on here.  What's happening in your neck of the woods?
smiley14

Oooh, look at me pretty tag and border!  Thank you so much!

I'm glad you got your bloodwork done and you got at least a week's "extension".   They finally called me about mine on Monday, and dropped the extra day of half a pill, just as I had thought.   I really could do this myself ~ lol.  Still, they are all nice and fun to talk to.  I've told them they don't have to call me every other week just because I call in  results.  It's a waste of their time since I already know the results.  So now they only call me when I go out of range.

I hope you do get to see Liam soon.   I have little hope of seeing any of my three great-greats so I do understand how you feel.  The advantage I have is that as much as I'd love to see any or all of them, I know I'm not gonna, so I don't sit and hope.   I will hope for YOU!

Have a Happy Hump Day!

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL
(Date Posted:04/17/2014 8:16 AM)

Hello. Hello!  It's almost Easter.  Can you believe it?

It was lovely earlier in the day yesterday, then started to get really cold and was supposed to snow overnight.  I saw some frost on the deck this morning but i haven't peeked out the front window yet.   I took the trash to the curb last night but i won't go and pick up the can until I'm sure the driveway isn't frosty.  Not a problem if I wait a while ~ it's barely above freezing now (36) but it's supposed to get to 61 in the afternoon ~ and 77 tomorrow!

Dreadful day yesterday, but I'm alive and kicking today, so I won't complain.  I'm still having sleep issues so I'm the perfect symbol for my Zodiac Sign ~~ The Crab.

Around 7:30 AM we got a call from Home Depot saying they would deliver the washer and dryer between 8 and noon tomorrow (which would be today).  Ok.  We worked out what we were going to do to get ready.

Marcela came half an hour late yesterday morning and though she checked which of the new mop heads should be used for what, when she started she used all three of them wrong.   I guess she was having a bad day, too.  She used the dry mop head (which is really wonderful) to wet mop!  Then she used the wood floor enviro mop, but I'm not sure what for ~ and finally she used the tile mop, which is scratchy and should never be used on the wood floor, to dry mop the wood.  Aack!    She took less time than she usually does to do the whole job, but everything looks fine.

Then Mike set off for the Grocery Store and I stayed home and did some online work.  He came back exhausted.  Some days it's really hard on him and he was gone during the time he should have taken his Parkinson's pill, so he was half an hour late getting that, and really ran out of steam.

While he was gone, a different Home Depot person called and said they couldn't deliver our appliances (today) but would deliver them on the 22nd ~ next Tuesday.  I was already in a mood, and I was not very nice or at all gracious to the poor woman.  I'm sure my tone of voice could have melted an ice berg and I made it clear I was upset.  She was just doing her job, and I'm sorry I wasn't nicer ~~ but she did say she would send us a $100 debit card that could be used anywhere.  It will arrive in 6 to 8 weeks.   I don't know if we would have gotten that if I'd been nicer or not.

The towel bar that Matt installed for us when he did the other work comes off the wall when you pull the bath mat off (or put it on ~ I can't remember which.  It hasn't happened to me, but has happened to Mike twice) so we called and he is coming out on Tuesday to fix that too.  Fun day to look forward to.  Ha.

Because one person called to say they would deliver this morning and the other called to say it would be Tuesday, we called Customer Service in the late afternoon to confirm.  We did learn that the Washer and Dryer are in, but the Pedestals did not arrive, and of course they can't put the washer & dryer in without the pedestals.

Soooo, no new appliances today and nothing at all going on.  That's probably a Good Thing!

Have a Terrific Thursday.

Jeepers, I am having issues with Aimoo tonight.
Nothing much going on around here today.
That sucks about your washer and dryer.  Good for you
for complaining...as they say...the squeaky wheel gets
the oil.
As far as Marcela, it sounds to me as if she was preoccupied with something that made her screw up so badly.  I hope she
has not ruined your mops.  We are trying to get the house
ready for having Easter guests.
I am going to see Liam on Monday.  Nan is coming
into town and we will go see Liam with Louann.  She
wrote and told me about Nan coming to see him and that
I could go with.  I wrote back that of course I would go,
but it was a shame that I had to wait for Nan to say she
wanted to go for me to get an invite.  I probably should
not have as Louann has not responded to the note.  I just
get tired of everything being when Nan wants to go and
what Nan wants to watch and where Nan wants to eat. I
sound like a petulant child.  I am going to have to apologize
to Louann for being a jerk.  I should not given in to the
words and I regret it.  Oh well.  That's about it for me.
the group challenge today was just to make an Easter tag.
Hugs,

Good Friday

In years past ~ long past ~ I would have spent the afternoon in church.  Now I think Mike and I are going to try out the new Bonefish for Fish and Chips.

Weather is going to be lovely today, 77 and sunny.   Somehow it seems like Good Friday should be dark and overcast and Easter should be Sunny and beautiful.

How are you all spending the weekend?

Thank you for the lovely Easter tag.   It's sort of like coming in on Easter morning when I was a kid and checking for goodies in the Easter Baskets!   I love it.

I do understand how you feel about saying something you wish you hadn't ~ I do that all the time.  Still, from outside looking in, I think it's good that you let her know how it seems to you, that you always have to wait for Nan and that Nan is always in charge of what you do.  It's just a habit you have all fallen into, and if you don't point out that it's not quite right, it will likely never occur to either of them.  I don't really know anything about Nan, but i'm sure she wouldn't be the center of my universe, and I don't think she needs to be the center of yours, either.    So there.

Anyway, the important thing is that you do get to see Liam and have some cuddle time!  YAY!

I wish we could find out what is happening with Mary Ann.  It's hard to even know HOW to pray.  Hopefully her sister will see our emails and let us know one day soon.   In the meantime, all we can do is pray.

I really wish, as I know you do, that we could have a good long 'talk' with annieM, too, and see how she is really doing.

Sending hugs and good thoughts to all.

Hello Dorothy

Not sure you will like this tag. The challenge was to make the cover of a childs book. It is really not what I was going for, but I do not know what I was going for, lol. Oh, well....

I did write Louann and apologized for sounding snipey, lol. I hope to hear from her soon. By Monday anyway.

This is the first time is as long as I can remember that is did not rain on Good Friday. It was sunny here too. It is good that it did not rain and we still have water standing in the basement. Suz came and got our laundry and took it home and did it. Bud, the landlord, called again today and he said he would get the plumber back over here, but he never came.

We are still planning on having Chinese for Easter.  My poor brother in law, Jerry, cannot have Easter Dinner.  He is having a test on Monday so he is only clear liquids starting Sunday morning.  That really sucks.  I wonder if he realized it was Easter when he set up the appt.  I doubt it as he likes to eat too much.

Gotta go. Need to do my Neb treatment before going to sleep.

Hugs,

Holy Saturday ~

Looks to be another beautiful day here.    Last night we tried a new-to-us Bonefish, that had actually been open since last November, but we just leaned about it.  It's in the same area as The Keg.  Nice, but not nearly as good as "Our" Bonefish, either the food or atmosphere.  Good to know, and we did enjoy it, but I doubt we'll be going back.

No, I don't like the tag.  I LOVE the tag!!  What's not to love ~ books and dragons and a new favorite author!   Delightful!

I hope they get your basement dried out soon.  Is your washer/dryer in that area of the basement?   Your family is so good to do things like taking your laundry and running errands for you.  Just to help you appreciate them, not everyone has family or family who would do things for them.

Oh, poor Jerry!  I'm sure the Dr's office or hospital was glad to have someone willing to fast on Easter and get the tests done on Monday.   I suspect they didn't remind him that this Sunday was Easter.

Your Chinese Easter dinner sounds great.  We were going to fix a big 'traditional' Easter dinner but ultimately opted to make reservations for the Easter Brunch at the Hideaway.  Actually lunch, cuz we're going at 1.  It sounds good ~ I'll let you know.

If we don't talk until after Easter, have a beautiful and very

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny visited me!  He left these lovely goodies, and Mike brought my morning coffee to bed.   Life is good!

The four truffle creme eggs are: Milk Chocolate Caramel Hazelnut, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Milk Chocolate Marshmallow and Dark Chocolate Raspberry and the bunny is Dark Chocolate.   I defininely have enough to share with you!

Mike still hasn't found his "Easter Basket".  I may have to help him look ~~ if and when I arise.  I'm sure it wasn't as good as MY 'Basket'.

As I told you, we are going to lunch at the Hideaway at 1.  Last night we made the cream of mushroom soup recipe Mike's sister gave us.  It really was good, and I think it will be even better tonight, so we're set.

I know you are having a lovely Easter dinner with the family at your house ~~~ Chinese!   I hope it is as good and as much fun as it sounds like it will be.

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter

We had a lovely day.  Not outside...rain on the menu there.  Dull and cloudy day...I think Good Friday and Easter weather got their wires crossed.
But the company and the food was lovely.  Josh dropped in around 11:30am and brought us Easter Baskets.  So thoughtful and a wonderful surprise.  Until mom asked him if he bought all that candy or did he use his moms?  Then he said, yeah, well mom actually made them.  LOL, the brat!!!  Taking credit for them.  Really cracked me up.  We had so much food that we convinced him to stay and eat with us.  We had...Moo Shu Pork, Honey Chicken, Pork Egg Foo Young, Shrimp Fried Rice, Teriyaki Chicken and Crab Rangoons.  This was the first time we did not get any fortune cookies....I wonder what was up with that? Oh well.  Diane brought to die for eggs from Hughes chocolates.  Mom and I split one and it was so rich and delicious.  Could never have eaten a whole one.  Now I am eating a Walnut caramel egg from Vande Walles who make wonderful candy too.  I have had entirely too many sweets today, lol. Oh, and we watched Easter Parade.  Brent (25) knew who Judy Garland was but not Fred Astaire...can you believe that??  He was a history major but I guess that does not cover entertainment history :)
Happy to see that Mike spoiled you and I hope he found his basket in a timely manner.
I finally heard back from Louann and she said she was sorry for not writing sooner but that I had hurt her feelings.  So we talked it out and we both see each others point.  So things are alright with us.
So tomorrow I meet Liam.  I cannot wait.

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL
(Date Posted:04/21/2014 7:15 AM)

Good Monday Morning.  Welcome to a brand new week.    Are you ready?   Check out my new BAMA tag and see if it doesn't make you laugh.

Our lunch at The Hideaway yesterday was multi-course.  We started with a Mimosa, then they brought a bread basket with two mini croissants, a little chocolate muffin (which we shared) and a cranberry scone, all served with orange marmalade butter.  Lovely.

Then there was a choice of a salad or a fruit plate with yogurt dressing.  We both opted for the fruit plate.  The main entree was a choice of many different things (eggs, quiche, steak, etc).  Mike chose French toast and Blinzes with a tart cherry compote.  I opted for the Belgian waffle with caramelized bananas and pecans.   All entrees were served with a choice of a spicy sausage, Applewood smoked bacon or ham.  Mike chose the sausage and I had the ham.  Neither of us could finish, so I took half of mine home for Mike to have later, and we both chose key lime pie for our dessert so we could take that home and have it for our dinner last night.   Stuffed, we were!   Everything was good, but not outstanding.  Too bad, because it could have been.  Sort of missed by 'this much' (holding thumb and finger close together).

Back at home, we watched and enjoyed Ben Hur, and then in the evening we watched The Good Wife, Mr Selfridge and Blechly Circle (also British and very compelling).

Sherri, in her new house down the street, held her annual Easter Egg Hunt for her family, and many neighbors had guests and a much more traditional Easter Sunday.

It was a beautiful day, in the mid 70s. All in all, a very nice day.   I hope yours was, too.

Our new washer and dryer are supposed to come tomorrow AND Matt is supposed to come and fix the towel bar.  Sounds like it's gonna be a busy day.  Today we need to make sure there is a clear path in the garage and laundry room.   I've been saving laundry to wash in the new machines, but if they don't come tomorrow I don't think I can wait much longer.

Today it's supposed to be in the mid-60s and sunny, but tomorrow they are predicting a temp of 81 degrees!  We'll see.  You know how much faith I have in the Weather Folk.

smiley18

Lou Ann, your family Easter sounded purrrfect.   How delightful that Josh brought you Easter Baskets ~ and how funny that he 'forgot to mention' that his mom made them for you.

It always takes me a second to realize that someone Brent's age often wouldn't have a clue who entertainers who were Huge when I was young are.  Or that they can't imagine a time when folks didn't have TVs much less all the things that have become just part of our normal lives SINCE TVs.  Oooh, I really am old!  Ha!

Mike needed help to find his Easter Basket (a Godiva Nut Truffle Flight), but he liked it.  Have to admit, it didn't compare with My Basket.  I will, of course, share some of my eggs with him.   If he's good.

I'm glad you and Louann talked, and that you both were able to be open about what you were feeling.  As long as you can share your feelings and really hear each other, everything will be ok.   It's when one continually 'stuffs it down' until  they no longer care that friendships are lost.

Long ago I told my sister-in-law Alice something like that.   I have always been very outspoken when someone stomps on my foot ~~ IF I care about them and don't want to lose the relationship.  When they keep stompin, I keep yelling ~~~ until I don't, and then it's too late because I no longer care.  I think Alice was really shocked when I just walked away one day, without a harsh word spoken.  She had finally managed to kill the love I'd had for her for all those years, and it died with a sigh and not a scream.

Have a great week.

RE:WELCOME TO APRIL
(Date Posted:04/22/2014 11:56 AM)

Good Morning and Happy Earth Day!

I'm late posting, but with good reasons.     We got a call last night that they would deliver the new washer and dryer this morning between 8 & 12, and then we knew Matt was coming to 'fix' the towel bar in the afternoon, so I got up, dressed, make up and hair done and then went in to vacuum the laundry room (which is also the cat's bathroom) and the wood floor instead of checking email and posting.

We were having coffee when we got a call from Jose' saying that his crew would be here at 8:10.   They actually were late ~ didn't get here until 8:15, and they had the old washer/dryer out and the new ones in and set up and tested by 8:55!     Very impressive.    These guys were fast, efficient and so very pleasant and helpful.

We are running a load without clothes and with a minimal amount of laundry detergent now, and then I have at least three loads of wash ready to "test".     At this point in time, we are both favorably impressed.  The literature tells me it should cost about $13 a year to run!

Wanna see?

Here is the old set ~

Welcoming the new High Efficiency Washer and Dryer in honor of Earth Day smiley67

you can see one of our old ones along with the new, which they had already put on the pedestals.

I don't know if you can read all the different settings or not.

Washer ~

Dryer ~

Probably WAY more than you wanted to know, but you know me.  I never say anything with fewer words when more are available.

Then at 10:45 Matt came and did his thing and so we don't have to wait for him, and have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy!

I did get an email from Lisa (the Norwex lady) saying that she was having a last minute Earth Day Open House tonight with every product on display and available for demonstration and some great prizes.   I'd love to see her house, and there are a few (very few) things that I can buy, but I'm not sure I want to go.  Thinking about it, but will probably decide not to.

smiley69

We had that lovely cream of mushroom soup last night and will have it again tonight.  I really like it, but it's a bit thinner than I am used to cream of mushroom soup being.   May have to make a roux or something next time.  We did add a tiny bit of flour hoping to thicken it, but it really didn't.  The flavor is lovely.

Well, I'm off to do laundry.  I don't remember anticipating laundry with pleasure before ~ but don't worry.  I know this won't last.
smiley89

Hope you're having a lovely day.

HAPPY EARTH DAY

WISH I COULD GO OUT AND DO SOME HIGHWAY OR RIVER CLEAN UP.  THERE IS SOMETHING VERY SATISFYING ABOUT DOING THAT.  AS A YOUTH, OUR CHURCH GROUP WOULD DO A MILE STRETCH OF HIGHWAY ONCE A MONTH.  I ALSO DID THE LAKESIDE PARK LAGOONS WITH A GROUP.  I FOUND THAT BEING ABLE TO LOOK AT IT ALL WHEN DONE WAS A WONDERFUL FEELING AND THE MORE GARBAGE BAGS WE FILLED THE BETTER.  MY EASTER GRASS THIS YEAR WAS RECYCLED PAPER.  I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT REUSING AND RECYCLING...BUT I AM SURE I DO NOT DO ENOUGH ABOUT REDUCING.  WE DID QUIT USING PLASTIC CUPS AND WE USED TO USE A LOT OF THEM.  WE DO USE A LOT OF PAPER PLATES.  WE DO NOT LEAVE LIGHTS ON OR FANS IN ROOMS WE ARE NOT IN, ETC.  I DO NOT RUN WATER WHEN I BRUSH MY TEETH THOUGH IS USED TO.  I GUESS WE HAVE REDUCED SOMETHINGS.  WE EVEN RECYCLE OUR NEWSPAPER BY GIVING IT TO THE NEIGHBORS TO READ.  WE COULD BE USING MORE EARTH FRIENDLY PRODUCTS. BUT UNLESS THEY COME DOWN IN PRICE, THAT IS NOT LIKELY TO HAPPEN.  n

AS YOU SAW, I MET LIAM LAST NIGHT AND I HELD HIM MOST OF THE TIME WE WERE THERE.  I DID LET NAN HOLD HIM SOME AND LOUANN AND BRUCE.  BUT IT WAS MOSTLY ME, LOL.  HE MADE NAN NERVOUS BECAUSE HE IS SO SMALL.  NAN AND I WEAR HIS FIRST BABYSITTERS.  LOUANN, BRUCE AND KIRSTIE WENT TO PICK UP SUPPER AT COUSINS.  I HAD A  PHILLY CHEESESTEAK, FRIES AND A ROOTBEER.  DELISH.  LOUANN MADE A LEMON POPPYSEED CAKE AND WAS ONE OF THE BEST PIECES OF CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD.  SHE WAS TESTING OUT RECIPES FOR NERISSA'S BABY SHOWER.  I VOTE FOR THIS CAKE!!!  LIAM IS SO SWEET AND SO SMALL AND I FORGOT MY CAMERA.  KIRSTIE TOOK ONE WITH HER CAMERA AND SHE POSTED IT FOR ME AND I SAW THAT YOU SAW IT.  BRUCE HAD HIS CAMERA AND HE TOOK SOME SHOTS ALSO.  I AM WAITING FOR HIM TO SHARE THEM WITH ME.  HE HAS BEEN DOING SOME GREAT ARTISTIC SHOTS.  HERE ARE A FEW OF THEM.

THEY SAID LIAM PEE'D ON THE NEW BLANKET, LOL.  COOPER THINKS HE IS ANOTHER DOG, LOL.

THIS IS NAN WITH LIAM.

AND YOU SAW THIS ONE WITH ME.

I WILL SHARE MORE ANOTHER DAY.

YOUR WASHER AND DRYER LOOK GREAT AND VERY IMPRESSIVE.  DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH ALL THOSE SETTINGS.  I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO READ THEM.   I AM SORRY YOUR RESTAURANT WAS NOT UP TO PAR BUT IT ALL SOUNDED REALLY GOOD.  DO YOU AND MIKE EVER DO "FAST FOOD"?  JUST WONDERING.

HUGS,

(Date Posted:04/23/2014 8:47 AM)

And how is YOUR day going so far?

The night before last I didn't sleep well, but I started the day out ok.  By late afternoon, however, I crashed.  Really felt like 20 miles of bad road.  I took a couple of asprin and fell asleep re-watching some of the Miss Fisher mysteries and by the time I went to bed I felt better.     I'm good to go today ~ but whether we will go anywhere or not remains to be seen.   Mike has a haircut this afternoon and we'd talked about going to The Keg for dinner.

My plans for a massive Laundry Day got changed.  I've been using the Norwex Laundry detergent and loving it.  It really is high efficiency and "green", but (sorry, but more important to me) it does a good job.   The whole purpose of the company is to be "green" so all of their products are geared to that end.
STILL, the package doesn't have the "High Energy" sticker on it, so Mike started reading ~~~ and learned that Maytag won't honor the warranty if you aren't using a "High Energy" laundry detergent!

Further reading made it seem like the big guys (Proctor and Gamble) were forcing the little guys out and I expect large amounts of money changed hands.  I really believe the Norwex is as good or better than Tide, but we can't afford to have our warranty voided.  We'll buy one of the 'official H.E.' detergents today, but somehow some of the "shiney" was taken off of the new machines for me.  I know this feeling will pass ~ and I did run a load with the Norwex yesterday afternoon ~~~~ but don't tell Maytag!

Lou Ann, the pictures are great, and you know I love the one of you with Liam.  I love that you got to have real quality holding time with him.  He looks much more comfortable in your arms than in Nan's, btw.

The picture of Liam balancing on the guy's arm was a little frightening.  I mean, he's only 'minutes'old!  Still, artistically impressive.
The one of Liam and Cooper is adorable.

Hello Dorothy

That sucks that you cannot use your detergent in your new washer.  They should have pointed that out up front before you bought it.  Glad to hear that you got some sleep and whatever you decide to do for supper I hope you enjoy it.  We had hot dogs...all beef and they were delish.  Easy meal as mom had ARC Bingo tonight.  Last night we ate the left over Chinese.  I have eaten way too much chocolate in the past week or so.  I should be shot.  I have demolished everything chocolate so that is all out of the way now. lol.  I will feel better soon I am sure.  I told my friends that I miss the days when we used to get together and we would all work on projects.  So Louann emailed me and said Bruce liked the idea and wanted to know is next Wed would work for me.  If it did they would see if Nan could make it too.  Bruce emailed me and said that Nan said she would make it work.  Bruce is going to take the day off, he says he has a lot of knitting to do. I will be crocheting.  Ordered my yarn and will be making a frog cocoon for baby Samuel. Rissa is due the end of June and the shower is May 22nd or so.  I have plenty of time.

Here is a wonderful picture of Louann and Bruce and the whole family.

The women and children are sitting in front of their husbands.

L-R  Kirstie (L&B youngest) with Liam in her arms and husband Nick behind.

Tricia with Finn on her lap and carrying baby due in August and husband Reid (L&B oldest) behind

Louann with husband Bruce behind her

Nerissa (L&B middle child) carrying baby Samuel with husband Matt behind.

Such a wonderful picture and beautiful.  By the way, the pic of Liam laying on Nicks big guns....Kirstie was hold him there and Bruce just edited her out.  I had to ask about that one myself.

Ok, new tags.  This time out challenge was using a color pallette.

So this is what I did.  PinUpToons now allows their tubes to be colorized so I changed the color of the dress and her eyes.  Then I used a template and used the colors we were given.  I think it is ok...lol.  One or you here too.

Hugs,
