Last year my sister-in-law Marianne introduced me to a new book series. I loved the first book, but as you all know, I did very little reading last year, so I didn't go on with the series. I just read the second book in the series, and I loved it too, so I want to share it with you.

It may not be for everyone, or maybe not right now. You decide. I've been gobbling up Cozies as you know, and these are definitely not cozies.

Set in the Quebec area, the small village of Three Pines is the star of the series. You come to know the residents and I can "see" Three Pines and want to visit there. (I'd want to live there, but it's too darned cold for me.)

Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surete' de Quebec is our Protagonist, often (I expect as the series continues) called from his home in Montreal to investigate murders in Three Pines. He stays at the B&B run by a gay couple who also run the Bistro where everyone gathers. (I want to join them at the Bistro!)

The residents are a quirky lot to say the least, from the nasty, crabby and oh-so-talented poet, Ruth to the artist couple Clara and Peter, to the gay couple, Olivier and Gabri. The team Gamache brings with him is "interesting", too. Characters you come to know might turn out to be murderer or victim, or might stay to greet you in the next book.

This link tells you about the Author, Louise Penny.

This tells you about the movie being made of the first book in the series. I can not WAIT! http://www.louisepenny.com/film.htm

I just started the third book.
