RE:SEPTEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:09/06/2013 10:22 PM)

Hello Dorothy
I will just say I do not have any issues with Chrome.  I turn off any of the extra items that I do not want.  Seems everything that you download
these days comes with all kinds of "goodies that are not so good"
attached.  I try to click them all off before okaying, but they are
proficient at sneaking some by.  Then I uninstall them as I find them.
Seems I have issues every time I run my malware and I have to fix
things after, lol.  I just do not understand a lot of it and am so worried
about deleting things I need.  It was hotter here today but still lovely.
Couple scattered hot days in the forecast.  But, with any luck, we will
not have to turn the AC on.  As long as the humidity stays low.
Dorothy, I totally understand your rant.  These cable, internet companies prices are so ridiculous.  We are paying 175 a month for phone, internet
and tv.  It is too
high but we cannot seem to get it down.  All the deals we were in ran out.  We have got to get it down somehow.  We looked into U-verse but it is not on our block yet and just not sure how we feel about dishes.  And isn't it funny how one person can give you a better deal than another.  My nephew Brent worked for our cable company for a while in retention.  He was supposed to keep customers by making them deals but no more that he had too.  But he would give people all the discounts he could.  Then they took away their ability to give them deals so he quit.  That and the fact that they had him working every Sunday and he could not watch his beloved Packers.  So he quit.  I think I will research some other companies, though I checked and Warner is not here yet either.  Then Monday try calling and raising a stink.  And get it down somehow.
We used up the tomatoes today by making vegetable soup and we have 6 qts to freeze.  Stocking up for Winter, lol.  No plans for the weekend.
Have a good one!
Hugs,

Feel free to come soon!  We're still in the 90s!   Yesterday we broke a record set for that day back in 1959.  Record had been 95 degrees.  We reached 97!  Enuf, already!

smiley5

Ah, but it's Saturday and we have nothing planned.  I really can't complain, can I?   Oh, sure I can!  Y'all know me.  Ha!

I'm still having assorted posting problems in Aimoo.  Before coming here, using my ie10 the spacing is skipping all over the place in the other group.  I hit delete and it gives me an extra space or sixteen between lines.   I'm at the point of downloading Google Chrome even though my experience with Google anything in the past has been that they take over your system, putting toolbars and whatever on without my permission.  We will take a checkpoint before I download, and then if Google becomes invasive I can go back to that checkpoint and make Google and it's invasive parts go away.  Who knows?  Maybe this time will be different and it won't try to take over my system.  Others including Aimoo Alice seem to be able to post just fine using Chrome.  ie10 works just fine for everything except Aimoo.   I'm really at my wits end.    I switched to Firefox to post in both groups this morning, not just here.  Grrrr.

It's really good to know that Google Chrome works well for you in Aimoo ~ but it sounds like some of the issues I fear (add ons I don't want added on, etc) still exist in all things Google.  Sooo annoying.  In the past it was darn near impossible to uninstall them, too.  Having the checkpoint to use for restart if necessary should help.    I just wanna have fun, ya know?  It shouldn't be so much WORK to do this hobby stuff!

It sounds like you have the same thing we were experiencing with Comcast pricing.  We'd hear others tell of getting their prices reset lower so after years of just paying without question, we started calling in and complaining.  That worked several times to get our prices lowered, but as you say then the 'deal' runs out and you are back with the higher rate. It seems to depend on WHO you talk to at Comcast whether you can get a better rate or not!   "Angela" told Mike not to call in but to come in as she could give him a better price.  She has special codes not available to the online people.  That's obviously why my neighbor said she had to actually come in every six months to get her bill reduced.   Ridiculous ~ and Wrong!   Even then, when he came in and talked to someone who was not Angela, they couldn't reduce the price nearly as much as she did.   What's up with that?!   I'd tell you to have someone take you in to get the price reduction, but even then it seems to depend on who you 'get'.   Aarrgghhhh!   They make Used Car Dealers seem user friendly and completely above board!

I think you have it right ~ the real problem is the lack of competition.  If we could choose between say Cox and Comcast, they would both do a better job.   I believe in the Free Marketplace and this is a prime example of why.   When one Cable Company "owns" us, this is the result.

Oooh, I do seem to be into rants, don't I?  lol

Love your new borders.  I have to start stealing.smiley80

I'll let you know what Google Chrome does to me and if I can keep it and how I like it.    lol

Have a Happy Day.

Testing, one, two, three.   This is me using Google Chrome.   So far, so good.  I can open a reply and here I am typing in it.   The spacing looks too close, but not really a problem I'm thinking.  Better than the quadruple spacing I was getting in the other group.

This is 18 point font.  The one in the previous paragraph was 14 pt.  Now lets see what happens when it wraps.   Nope.  Still to close together, but readable at least.  Aimoo is such a pain in my arse.

I did not get an unwelcome Toolbar, so that's something!   If I have problems, I have that checkpoint I can fall back to

Now I'm testing edit, and it works fine.   Interesting thing.  When I'm typing the text looks scrunched, but when I posted, it looks fine.    So far, so good!   This is Georgia, 14 pt.  I'll make this sentence bold.

Now I'm testing "appropriating" Lou Ann's lovely border.  This seems to work fine, too.   Now I will scoot over to forum1 and the other group to see how everything works there.  So far ~~ YAY!

YAY DOROTHY, I HOPE IT WORKED WELL FOR YOU IN THE OTHER
FORUM TOO.  I REALLY HATE THAT YOU ARE HAVING SO MANY ISSUES
WITH YOUR GROUPS.  I SURE WISH THEY WOULD GET THIS ISSUE
WITH THE SKINS FIXED.  MAYBE I COULD MAKE A DIFFERENT HEADER
THAT WOULD GO BETTER WITH THE WATERMELON COLOR THEME.  I
MAY DO THAT.  I JUST HATE LOOKING AT IT AS IT IS.

I THINK MY FRIENDS ARE ALL UP NORTH THIS WEEKEND.  I AM SURE
THEY ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME.  HOPEFULLY THE WEATHER IS
NICE THERE.  HERE IT RAINED ALL MORNING AND HAS BEEN WARM
AND MUGGY.
TOMORROW MOM WILL BE GONE ALL TILL AROUND 3PM
 AS THEY ARE
HAVING THAT BIG FUND RAISER AT CHURCH FOR THE
COUPLE THAT ARE
LEAVING AS MISSIONARIES.  THEY MUST REALLY
HAVE A CALLING AS
THEY HAVE SOLD THEIR HOME AND MOST OF
THEIR BELONGINGS.  I PRAY
THAT GOD TAKES GOOD CARE OF THEM.
I JUST NEVER COULD GIVE UP
 EVERYTHING...I NEED THE STABILITY.
I AM NOT BRAVE THAT WAY.  THEY
ARE HAVING A PIG ROAST SO MOM
SAID SHE WOULD BRING ME HOME A
 PORK DINNER TO HAVE FOR
SUPPER.
NOT SURE WHAT I WILL DO WITH MYSELF.  DO NOT KNOW
 WHERE MY
HP MOVIES ARE, OR I WOULD GET A COUPLE OF THEM IN.
I WILL HAVE
TO CHECK OUR AMAZON AND SEE WHAT I WOULD LIKE
TO WATCH.

ADIOS MUCHACHAS.

Ah yes, we're in for another 90 degree day today ~~ but wait!  The rest of the week is supposed to be in the 70s, with rain!  Forcast says on Tuesday it might not even get out of the 60s!  This may be a case of "Be careful what you wish for".  Ha.  Still, while I don't want to plunge into cold temps, it will be nice to have a bit of relief from the unrelenting 90s!

So far my Google Chrome has been great.  You have no idea how much fun posting in Aimoo has NOT been for the last few weeks.  Now, to just come in and POST without all the hassles ~ lovely!   I've had to tinker with passwords in other areas because apparently Chrome (or at least mine) uses my gmail address and everything else I've had used my msn address, but once the passwords were reestablished, almost everything seems to be working great.  Hoo-Ray!!
smiley60
Lou Ann, what kind of problem do you have when you try to change the skin?  Do you just change one 'tile' at a time (for want of a better way to say it)?  I don't want to do anything to mess up your lovely watermelon border, but if you'd like I could try and see if I could change one element at a time.   The reason I ask is that before I had different problems on different Aimoo formats, and I'm curious if I would have the same issues that you do in changing a skin.   I really don't want to take it over, but if I can help ~ let me know what error you are getting and whatcha think.

I thought you were getting together with your friends about now.  I've been so fluxed I probably got it wrong.  They all went up North without you????

I hope you find something fun to watch on TV while your mom is gone!

I really can't imagine giving up everything to go to the Mission fields, either.  Heck, I can't imagine doing what my neighbor Barb is doing, and she only does it for a few months at a time and then comes home to her lovely house.   Even when I was young and able I'm not sure I could ~ or would ~ have done it.   Good people!

Find something fun to watch and have a good day!

Hugs,

Hello Dorothy
Try away with the skin,
folks in the forum are having the same issue, but I do not think you will be able to change it.  I can change them but as soon as I
choose preview or submit I get an error code.

************************************

500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

************************************
A lot of people are reporting the same issue and they are working on the
skins problem.  Now I am seeing issues in the spacing.  I do not know if it
will still be there when i post or not, but my text are right on top of each
other.  They were not above the error message.  It is weird.

I chose to watch Law and Order Special Victims marathon.  I think I had
seen them all before but that was ok as i was playing on the computer
and iPad as I watched.

We had another beautiful day, 70's and a bit cloudy.  Yes, Dorothy, they
went without me.  i was my choice.  i did not go.  I just cannot handle the
trip.  It is too many hours and days of being uncomfortable and in pain.
I feel bad but it was my choice.  I could wish that they missed me, but
they probably do not since no one even bothered to call and talk to me
while they are all together.  So, before I start feeling sorry for myself I
will say tata for now.
Hugs,

and ready to start a Brand New Week.

I'm still "enjoying" a learning curve with Google Chrome.  I just figured out how to have more than one page open ~ hey, I'm old and slow, okay?!  Now if somebody can tell me how to temporarily increase the font size on a page I'll be good to go.  Often Facebook posts are challenging for me to read, so I temporarily increase the font size and I haven't figured out how to do that yet.  I may have to break down and actually use the Help Pages!     I'm a much happier camper than I was last week!

smiley32

Lou Ann, I did try to play with the skin.  I know while many are having the same problem you are, not everyone is and that using ie10 it worked differently in different Aimoo forums for me, AND I was able to put up a new September skin in the other group, so it was worth a try.  I didn't get the error message, just a white page or a "Page not found".  What a mess is our Aimoo!

I do understand it's not being fun to travel and be away from your own 'sleeper' for a weekend, but I'm sorry you couldn't do it.  Those get-aways have always sounded like fun in spite of the difficulties.   I wish I could offer a solution so you could go and have a great time the next time they go, but of course I can't.

Oooh, look!  Another yummy border to steal.  I've been kind of holding off on the Fall borders since it's still the middle of a long hot summer here!  It won't be long before Fall comes ~ and sadly goes.  It's my favorite season.

I enjoy watching Marathons too. Somehow you just get involved with the characters and it doesn't matter if you've seen the actual show before.

There is a new BBC show that folks are raving about and Mike and I just didn't care for.  I think we're going to wait until it's finished and then watch all the episodes as a marathon and see if we don't like it better that way.

Are you watching the Stephen King "Under the Dome"?  That's another one I just can't care that much for, but maybe later if I watch all the episodes together, I might.  Or I might not bother.  I keep saying I'm not going to continue watching, and then something mildly interesting will happen so I watch again, though without much enthusiasm.  Ha.

.smiley32

Mine world is pretty tame right now. Nothing much planned for today.

Sarah had an Open House at Sherri's across the street yesterday and there have been lots of folks driving by slowly or stopping to get fliers.  I don't think it will take too long to sell.  Sherri's new house just up the street in front of us is nearly done. I know she's getting nervous about having to take out a loan if it doesn't sell before she closes (and obviously it won't). Still, that's what we did and while you are spending interest money until you sell, there are worse things. I'm sure she is in better shape than we were financially and as I said, I don't think it will take too much longer to sell.

When they put in her landscaping, they are supposed to put in our lilacs.  I'll believe it when I see it.  We're withholding payment for the entire thing until they do and I'm so far beyond the frustration of the summer that I almost don't even care anymore.

Have a Happy Day!

Dorothy, I enlarge the whole page in Chrome.  Go up the the right
hand corner and click on the 3 bars.  Then go to zoom, I usually have mine set a 125% but on bad days with the eye I go larger.
I will try using a different browser to see if I can change the skin.  Even if it's just a color change it would be better.
My back is not getting better and is always getting a little worse.
Each year going up north gets harder on me.  Usually we go in early October, but this year they are going early. I knew I could not count on cool weather and that would make me even more miserable.  I
cannot have a good time when all I can think about is the pain I
am in or how sweaty I am.  The shower is not one you can sit in and I cannot stand long enough so cannot shower while there.  It is just not doable any more.  We also did not have our Christmas in July this year so I have not seen Gary and Steve in ages.  Makes me sad
so I am not going to dwell on it.
Hot as all hell today 90 but with a 73 dew point. I finally closed up and jacked up the AC.  Supposed to be this way for 2 more day and then the temps are going to drop to low 70's, high 60's.  That is my
kind of weather.
I do not watch Under the Dome.  My mom would never watch any
thing by Steven King, lol.  She and I do love some of the same things, but we like a lot of opposite things too.  I love sci fi/fantasy and she does not.  She loves trash TV, (Maury, Jerry Springer, Baggage and Cheaters) I do not.  We both love romantic comedies and musicals.  I love, love, love Criminal Minds, NCIS, all the Law and Orders and all the CSI's, she does not.  We both like Cops and shows like it.  But I watch a lot more of her crap than she watches of mine, lol.
I will believe they are going to do the lilacs when they do it and no sooner.  Such a bunch of crap.  They could have just gotten it done right away and saved everyone the aggravation.  But no, let's make
this so much more difficult than it has to be.  JERKS!!!
Have a great day tomorrow.
Hugs,

Hi gals

I thought I'd better pop in before aimoo deletes me.  No matter how many months I miss, I still think about you gals all the time.  Life is busy here.  Jamie went back to school and is also working fulltime, so cannot be my caregiver.  I had to find a new one, and that was really frustrating.  I get one lined up I liked, and then she didn't work out.  I ended up with a 22 year old, and her big plus is she lives nearby.  She has never worked in the health field, so she will not take care of me for long.  When I need a real nurse I will have to find one.  This new gal is so slow, and does not have much knowledge about cooking, so I'm having to train her, and some days it's exhausting!

On a brighter note, my grandson is delightful!  He is pulling himself up now and walking around couches and coffee tables & such!  He is nine months old tomorrow!  We were just there on Sunday and I'm pretty sure Dave got some good pictures, but I don't think there are downloaded yet.  That gives me a reason to come back this week… to show off my grandson!  I think he's adorable!

Sending everyone a huge cyber hug!  Love,

Yesterday we had the hardest rain we've had all summer and it lasted quite a while.  We're supposed to have rain during the rest of the week as well.  I looked across the street at Sherri's house and it looked like she had a Whirlygig in her front lawn, but I didn't remember seeing it before.  Then I realized it was water gushing down the drainpipe and bouncing off the lawn and up into the air!  It really looked like it was forming a circle!   Seriously heavy rain, it was.  lol.

We were planning on going to one of the restaurants we discovered during Mike's birthday week tonight because this is their Prime Rib special night. Now I'm not so sure.  I doubt we'd melt in the rain if we were caught in it, but we hate the thought of hail damage to the car.

Then tomorrow Marcela comes so I'll likely be in late.

smiley9

Lou Ann, thanks!  I always used 125% in FB when I was trying to read a detailed post, but hadn't found the Zoom in Chrome.  I knew there had to be one, but I couldn't see it.  That will make a big difference for me.  Other than that I'm really enjoying Chrome ~~ who knew?!

Believe me, I understand what you are feeling about traveling with your friends, and I know how hard it is to let them go without you.   We really want to get new carpet, and the thought of walking through a large carpet store and then standing to peruse the various carpets just gives me shivers.  It isn't easy for Mike, but he could do it.  I get that pain thing going and I go a little crazy.  I'm sure our neigbhors think I'm the most anti social person on the planet, but when people visit at a party or in front of their houses, they always stand.  I used to, too.  Now just the thought of all that pain makes me cringe.  I understand the shower issue, too.  It just takes the fun out of everything.

We're finally getting cool weather!  Not supposed to get out of the 60s today.  We won't know how to act!

smiley9

Oh my goodness ~ look who's here!  I was beginning to think I had dreamed you up.  LOL   (Ok, you KNOW we have to give you a hard time!)

I had wondered if you weren't having "fun" trying to find a new Caregiver.  I'm so sorry you lost Jamie.  She was a real gem.

How are you doing?  Still loving the new Wheel Chair?  Doing a few fun things?

We will love seeing pictures of Henry, so you do have to come back!

smiley9

Anyone plannng to watch Mr Obama's speech tonight?  I may pick it up in re-runs. Rizzoli and Isles Summer Finale tonight followed by 'Suits'.  I'm sure someone on TV will tell me what was said ~~ over and over and over.

Have a great day, and I'll probably see you later tomorrow, after Marcela leaves.  Assuming we don't get washed away in the flood producing rains, that is.

Popping in to say hello.  I cannot believe that Aimoo has not fixed the skins
issue. Makes me very angry.  But feel that since it is all free, how can I
complain.  I just feel like some one really did not know what they were doing
when going to thenew servers.  But then again, what do I know...Nothing!!  LOL
Anyway, hello ladies.  Happy to see annnieM checking in.  But now am saying
bye bye!  Really not feeling well so am laying low.

HI CUPPA GALS!!!
I'M HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY...
I'M ABLE TO GET IN BUT IN DIDN'T DARE CHOOSE A BACKGROUND OR IT WOULD MAKE
ME DISAPPEAR...

I will never catch up with ya all...Your so far ahead of me since 'AIMOO' has been very,
very, mean to me...

I just got home last night, as I made my way home I saw big black
smoke where I live!!! I made it home, it took me three stages to unpack the car, and
I haven't yet got it in the garage I was really pooped...My caring niece Sarah called
her Mom and asked her to call me and help me 'Evacuate'...After my sister Marian
called, I personally called my local Fire Department to find out if I had to flee...I was
told no not to worry that the fire was heading toward Cottonwood which is to the left
of me...The fire was really gnarly for a long time...At last count 80 structures have been
destroyed...

When I went to bed last night I shut my door and turned on the A/C because I didn't
want to breathe any more smoke into my lungs I'd had it...
Besides the fact that we up North here have gone back to 'Summer' that
means the 'Triple Digits'...Phew it's been like 106' all week, we may cool down just a
tad but still in the 'Triple Digits' again and for the rest of the week...

I am going to try to save this post and to sneak down this page a grab a background that
I would like for my post I hope everything goes well...Oh by the way I got my 'Flu Shot,
Pneumonia shot, & my Shingles shot all at once!!! I will never do that again I was walking
around like a punch drunk fighter for the rest of the day!!! Next morning I felt better but
I think that with all the Medication that I take already, it was just too much for me...I don't
think it would have bothered me if I hadn't been taking so many other medications at the time...
I don't think the reaction was from the 'Flu Shot or the Pneumonia Shot' I think the culprit
was the 'Shingles Vaccine'...

I needed all three but next year I'll get the 'Flu & Pneumonia' together and the Shingles Vaccine
last by itself...I think that would be better for little old me anyway...

My Awesome Microwave with a brain broke and I went forever without one!!!
Then Leslie made it home from 'Vet School' and gave me her teeny tiny toy one...The
first thing it did was draw blood on my left arm!!! A huge blood blister has been there
forever, and the door keeps biting me...I have to mentally stop and say to myself stop
open slowly and get your arm out of the way of the door...I just don't believe Leslie
was able to use this thing!!! I will have a card or two paid of soon and then I am marching
right down to the appliance store and buying one like mine again!!! You can't even cook
a casserole in this one, and my microwave cover that goes over my plates hangs over the

It's a Boy!

Introducing my new Great Great Nephew

I don't know his name yet, but he should make his appearance in our world toward the end of January.

I don't know if this is the way it's always done now, but I thought it was lovely that the new parents-to-be, Aaron and Christina, invited their mothers and Aaron's dad to join them at the Sonogram.    This is what Aaron wrote ~ .

So today we met at the clinic with our mom's and my dad.  We went to the ultrasound and got some cool pics. We had the technician put the sex in an envelope. Then Christina gave the envelope to her friend after the doctors visit.  The doctor said that the baby would be a big baby and it was very healthy.  Then we met for dinner and her friend had made cupcakes that had either pink or blue frosting inside. So after dinner we ate the cupcakes and found blue frosting.  We were so excited to find out.  We also found that the baby was very stubborn because we did not get many good pics.  The baby also had hiccups when we were at the ultrasound. So cool. Love you guys.

I just think that's lovely.

As long as we are talking about my Great Greats,
Here is the most recent picture of Miss Lucy, taken on September 3rd.

Here is the adorable Jack at 14 months. August 19th

I'll be back to chat tomorrow, after Marcela leaves.
