I WAS SO SICK YESTERDAY AND ONLY HAD MADE A SMALL POST AND I SOMEHOW CLOSED IT, BUT JUST DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUMPTION LEFT TO REDO IT.  BUT I AM BACK.  STILL NOT FEELING WELL, BUT BETTER THAN YESTERDAY.

DOROTHY, NOVIA NEVER REALLY BOTHERED MY DECORATIONS...OTHER THAN THE CHRISTMAS TREE....SHE DID BAT AT THE ORNAMENTS, BUT I DO NOT THINK SHE EVER BROKE ANY.  I JUST COULD NOT HAVE BLOWN GLASS ITEMS...THOSE SHE KILLED SO I STOPPED GETTING ANY AND ONE BY ONE SHE DESTROYED MY COLLECTION OF BLOWN GLASS UNICORNS.  IT WAS A GOOD THING I LOVED HER, LOL.

DOROTHY, I USE CCCLEANER, MALWARE  BYTES AND SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY.  BETWEEN THE THREE OF THEM IT SEEMS TO HELP.  THOUGH ON OCCASION I HAVE HAD ISSUES AFTER RUNNING ALL 3 BECAUSE THEY SOMETIMES SEE EACH OTHER AS THE ENEMY, LOL.  MY COMPUTER GUY SET ME UP WITH THESE.  AND I USE THE FREE VERSION OF AVG ANTIVIRUS WHICH HE ALSO RECOMMENDED.  I HAVE NOT HAD A VIRUS IN A MILLION YEARS.  SO THEY DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND ALL FREE!

YOU ARE RIGHT.  THERE WAS A TIME WHEN WINTER WAS A JOY AND I LOVED TOBOGGANING, ICE SKATING, PLAYING IN THE SNOW...EVEN AS A YOUNG ADULT AND THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME.  NOT ANY MORE.  I CANNOT EVEN MAKE MYSELF GO TO THE CHRISTMAS PARADE ANY MORE BECAUSE OF THE COLD, LOL.  BUT I CAN REMEMBER HALLOWEENS THAT WERE FAR WARMER THAT THEY ARE NOW.  THERE WERE EVEN TIMES WE DID NOT HAVE TO WEAR COATS.  WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THEM?
LOL.  HAVE A GREAT HUMP DAY TOMORROW.

HELLO LADIES
BRRRRR....37 DEGREES OUT.  TOMORROW ELECTRIC WILL BE OUT MOST OF THE DAY AS THE ELECTRICIANS CHANGE OUR FUSES TO BREAKERS.  I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE FACT THAT IT MEANS THE HEAT WILL BE OFF TOO.  I HOPE IT IS NOT TOO COLD TOMORROW.  I AM FEELING BETTER TODAY.  HOPE THAT HOLDS.  I CANNOT FIND MY CORD FOR CHARGING MY KINDLE, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER.  I HAVE TO CONVERTER PART, BUT NO THE ACTUAL CORD.  SO I CANNOT CHARGE IT UP FOR TOMORROW.  BUT I CAN ALWAYS READ A REAL BOOK FOR A WHILE AND MOM GOT SOME CHRISTMAS ONES IN THE MAIL.  I SHOULD FIND MY CROCHET AND GET IT OUT, THOUGH I LIKE TO WATCH TV WHEN I DO THAT, LOL.
I AM NOT SLEEPING SO WELL SINCE I QUIT RUNNING THE AC FAN IN MY ROOM.  IT GOT WAY TOO COLD FOR THAT.  i AM GOING TO INVEST INTO A NOISE MACHINE, THE KIND I WANTED ALL ALONG.  NEVER HAVE USED THE CD PLAYER AND CD MOM GOT ME LAST YEAR.  HOW LONG WILL A CD LAST IF PLAYED REPEATEDLY?  AND THE CD WAS NATURE NOISES AND I JUST WANT WHITE NOISE, LOL.  JUST BETTER TO GET IT MYSELF.
WELL, GOT TO GET ALONG HERE.

RE:OCTOBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:10/24/2013 10:11 AM)

Sorry I didn't make it in yesterday.   For the last two days I've been fighting some kind of an allergy attack.  I don't normally have big problems with allergies, and when I do experience one I just pop a Claratin and I'm good to go in short order.  This one has been different and really awful.  In addition to the sinus issues (drippy nose and pressure in the left side of my siuses), on Tuesday morning I woke to terribly fuzzy vision in that eye, actually kind of scary.  During the  course of the day it got better, with a little help from Claratin and aspirin, but yesterday morning when I woke and headed for the shower, it was as if I was in a frosted glass box.  Nothing clear and a bright light outside of the box.   Really awful.

Marcela came so I didn't even try to get online.   As the day went on, my vision cleared but I still felt awful, sort of like the worst cold you've ever had, only it wasn't a cold.  I just didn't feel like trying to visit.   Much better this morning.  I have no idea what I could have been reacting to.  I can't think of anything new I've been in contact with.  If it was one of you I'd ask if you'd been crawling through plant life that had been sprayed for bugs or something, but we all know Dorothy doesn't crawl through Anything.  Ha.  Anyway, I don't know what I should be avoiding, but I sure hope I never encounter it again!

House is clean and Mike tried one of those new recipes I found for ME to try (E-Z) and it was good.  Crockpot Pork Chops ~ I'll put it in our cookbook.  It's good for two more nights.

smiley2

Lou Ann, what a bad day to have the electric out ~ Brrrr.   Bundle up and enjoy a good book.  I hope they turn everything back on early ~ and that you can find your iPad cord.   I swear there is a gremlin in our house who hides things like that and only brings them back when I no longer need them!   Sounds like you may have one, too.

You know, if your CD did wear out over time, you would still have had and enjoyed the use of it.  Go for it!  You need your sleep.  Hope you keep feeling better!

Have a Terrific Thursday.

OYYYYYYYYY, WHAT A DAY.  THE ELECTRICIAN'S RANG THE DOORBELL SHORTLY AFTER

7 AM AND THE POWER WENT OUT SHORTLY AFTER 8AM.  BACK ON AROUND 5:30 PM.

SOME THINGS WE DID NOT THINK ABOUT.  YES WE COULD PLAY WITH OUR I-PADS BUT

ONLY THE GAMES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE INTERNET CONNECTION AS WE CONNECT

TO WI FI VIA ROUTER AND THAT REQUIRES ELECTRICITY.  NO PHONE EITHER.  BUT WE

HAD MY CELL.  NO MUSIC EVEN...NO RADIO'S WITH BATTERIES.  IT IS MY KINDLE THAT

I CANNOT FIND MY CORD TO...ONLY THE CONVERTER WHICH MAKES NOT SENSE AND IT

IS WHITE, SO IT CERTAINLY STANDS OUT.

AND ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE, I AM SICK AND IT IS NO LONGER THE STOMACH

ISSUES.  FOR A FEW DAYS NOW I HAVE BEEN COUGHING AND COUGHING.  TODAY

IT BECAME ALMOST CONSTANT.  THE THROAT ITCHES AND THE LUNGS BURN.  NOW

THE PHLEGM IS GETTING DISCOLORED.  TOMORROW IF IT IS WORSE I WILL MAKE

AN APPT TO SEE MY DOCTOR AND NIP THIS IN THE BUD.  I ALREADY FEEL THIS IS

NOT GOING TO GO WELL.  SO AM TRYING TO TAKE IT EASY.  SO NO BORDER OR

TAG TONIGHT...JUST ME.

Guess what day it is?   No, not Hump Day ~ It's Frankenstein Friday!

I seem to have gotten rid of whatever was causing that awful allergy attack, thank goodness!  We had a nice low key day, but we did a little bit of decorating  inside for Halloween.  Just a few stuffed Halloween animals on the mantle and in the library, but since we aren't expecting anyone else in to see it, it's enough for 'just us'. It does kind of make us chuckle to look at our mantle.

We watched the oh-so-very-sexy Frank Langella Dracula and then watched The Witches (Angelica Houston) when we went into the bedroom.

Lou Ann, what a miserable day your yesterday sounds like.   I'm glad they are done, and I'm glad you don't have electric heat so you froze, but we are so reliant on our electricity for everything.  You don't even think of all the things you take for granted.  I'm glad your iPad was charged and you could still play (or if it had been me, read).  Maybe it will make you appreciate what you have more (she sez, looking for the silver lining in the dark cloud).

I'm sorry you are sick.   Whatever you have sounds awful.  I'm glad you plan to call your Dr and see if you can get it fixed before it really takes you down.

Feel better!

Happy Frankenstein Friday.   Bwahahaaaaaaa

TODAY IS MY SISTER SUZANNE'S BIRTHDAY.  SHE IS 5 YEARS
YOUNGER THAN ME.  EACH YEAR, FOR 24 DAYS, NUMBER WISE
I AM 6 YEARS OLDER.  SHE RUBS IT IN THAT WHOLE TIME, LOL.

DOROTHY, YOUR PICTURES ARE WONDERFUL.  YOU HAVE SOME
GOOD COLOR ON YOUR BLOCK.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT OUR AREA LOOKS LIKE SINCE I AM NEVER OUT, LOL.

OUR ELECTRIC WAS NEVER OFF TODAY.  DOROTHY, OUR
HEAT WAS OUT YESTERDAY, BUT MOM JACKED THE HEAT
TO 80 DEGREES FOR ABOUT AND HOUR BEFORE ELECTRIC
WENT OFF.  IT GOT QUITE WARM AND LASTED ALL DAY.  WE
DID NOT THINK OF IT AGAIN UNTIL I SAID THAT IT WAS
GETTING WAY TO WARM IN THE APT LAST NIGHT AND MOM
SAID SHE NEVER TURNED IT BACK DOWN, LOL.  I GOT UP AND TURNED IT BACK TO 7O.  WE CONTROL THE HEAT FOR ALL THE
APTS.  I CANNOT READ ON MY IPAD AS I HAVE NOT ADDED THE  KINDLE APP.  AND YOU HAVE TO INDICATE WHAT DEVICE YOU
WANT THE BOOK TO GO TO WHEN YOU BUY IT.  I DID FIND MY
KINDLE CORD LAST NIGHT...IN MY BEDROOM IN PLAIN SIGHT.

I HAVE NOT BEEN SLEEPING WELL FOR DAYS AND TODAY IT
HAS CAUGHT UP WITH ME.  I COULD NOT STAY AWAKE FOR
THE LIFE OF ME.  I FOUGHT IT ALL DAY BUT LOST THE BATTLE
SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 2-4.  I SLEPT FOR A GOOD HOUR OR
MORE.  YET I STILL CANNOT STAY AWAKE.  MY COUGH IS
MORE WRETCHED BUT LESS FREQUENT.  THE THROAT IS SORE.
HEADACHES THAT DO NOT LAST AND EXHAUSTION.  THAT IS MY LIFE RIGHT NOW.....

Good Morning My Friends.

Are you getting into the Halloween mood?

We seem to be.   Lots of Halloween movies, a few decorations on the mantle.   I really miss handing out treats to the kids.  That used to really make Halloween for me.  Maybe next year.

This changing text and spacing thing is really driving me up the wall.   I just tried typing in my email like some of you have mentioned, and I'm still getting screwy text.   I'll just push on and hope you can read it.   If anyone has a clue how to fix it please share!

Mornin' Lou Ann.   I hope you are feeling better.  I'd bring you some chicken soup if I could.

Aw, thanks for the comments on my pictures.  I'm so aware of how much more beautiful the colors are in Minesota and Wisconsin than Colorado, and this year we are a bit puny compared to previous years, but I'm glad you can still get the idea of what the neighborhood looks like ~ or will when we have better color.  It would be good if they'd planted more variety in the front yards.  We're mostly red maple and purple ash with only one or two yellow/gold maples, but still, I do love red.

I am SO sorry you can't get out for a Fall color drive, especially when I know how spectacular it is there.

Laughing at your leaving the heat on once the electricity came back.  I'm glad you didn't freeze in the meantime.

When I buy books, I always buy them from Amazon on my PC.  They supposedly go to "Dorothy's Kindle 2" (my Paperwhite), but the really go everywhere.  Mike can access them from the KindleFire and I can from my iPad or the PC.  It must be something about them being stored in the Cloud.

Happy Birthday to Suz.   Is she coming over for dinner or something?

Feel Better!!

  Hello Cuppa's
Trick or Treat is tomorrow in Fond du Lac.  We
have candy, but I do not know how long mom will
last and I am not up to going out there.  We bought
mini candy bars so they will not go to waste if we
do not get many kids.  We will see.  We did nothing
for my sisters birthday.  It was decided a long time
ago that families should provide the party for their
own, that it should not be moms responsibility.  Suz
said that Jerry insisted that they go out to eat even
though they could not afford it.  I am not going into
their finances.
smiley31
Even though I feel lousy I need to carve a the
pumpkin tomorrow since the landlord gave us one.
Hoping to feel a little better tomorrow.
I am going to add the Kindle app to my I-pad
and see if it lets me load some of my books
there.  How do you the the Paper White?  That
is the one I thought I would replace mine with
when it goes.  Seems people like it a lot.
Hoping to see a few cute kids tomorrow.
Hugs,

 Good Morning.

It's a nippy 45 degrees right now, but heading for a warm 68.  Then getting cooler every day and rainy on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Looks like a high in the mid 50s for Halloween but no rain.  The little goblins will have to bundle up, but at least they won't get wet.

Very low key day for us yesterday, and maybe another one today.   Mike's sister and brother-in-law are in South America this morning on what looks like a lovely trip ~ though the 20 hours getting there would have killed me.  Ha! I used to go on trips like that and loved it, but no more.

smiley1

Lou Ann, are you beginning to feel better?  I hope so!

Way too early for Trick or Treat!  It needs to be on Halloween.  Period.  Ha.   We've never really lived where Halloween was declared to be on a different day, though I know that's true in many places.    We used to get about 100 kids before we turned the lights off at 8PM.  I was talking to a neighbor here and she said she gets 50-60, which actually surprised me.  There are no kids in the neighborhood, but of course there are Grandkids and we are located where others probably drive through.    I really, really miss handing out treats to the little goblins (or, for that matter to the big ones), but I just can't do it now.  Maybe next year (she says wistfully)    Completely aside from my pain in standing, our house is definitely not set up for easy Trick or Treat.   The hall from he Man Cave to the Front Door is quite long.  Kids would probably be gone before i got there.  Even if I stayed in the "morning Room" up in front, the door is facing away from the front door, so it would take a bit longer to get there from here than you would think.    Mike says I should sit on the front porch ~~~ in 50 degree weather ~~ and hand out treats.  Suurrre, I will.  I told him HE should do it, since he loves to keep it cold, and I could just watch from the front window, under my warm lap robe.  He didn't seem to want to.  Ha!

Makes sense for the families to take care of their own birthdays instead of expecting you and your mom to throw all the parties.   I can actually understand Jerry taking Suz out for her birthday (you know me!).  If you don't choose a very expensive place you don't have to spend a whole lot more than fixing something special at home.   I take it she's still not "visiting" about what is going on.  At least he wanted to take her out.  That sounds less like he wants to leave.  Maybe?

I have the Kindle App on my iPad and I love it.  Amazon lets you have 6 devices attached to the same account, so books loaded on your kindle can be read on your iPad.  (I researched this last night to see if there was a way to share books between accounts, but as far as I can tell, there is not.  As long as each device is registered to the same account, however, you can have up to 6.

I adore my Paperwhite, but it doesn't do all the things a KindleFire or an iPad do.  You basically can only read (or purchase and download), but not surf the net.  I've never tried to play games on it, so I can't tell you about that.  It also doesn't have the flexibility of a Kendle or iPad reader.  You can look up words in your dictionary there, but you have to type them in rather than just highlighting.  Several less than purrrfect things like that.  Still I love it.  It is small enough to fit into my purse and so light weight and well lighted.

They are coming out with a NEW Paperwhite (wouldn't you know it?!) that sounds like it will be able to do a lot of the things that my Paperwhite can't.

ANYway ~ do download the Kindle App to your iPad, and all of your books will be waiting for you there!

Would you mind if I actually copied several of your Halloween borders into the other group's border storage?   I know folks have "appropriated" some of mine when I have posted, but would you mind if I made several easily available to them?

Have a lovely day.

I am writing from my iPad and I do not know how to copy and paste from here, so no border.
Share the borders in whatever way you like Dorothy, I do not mind.  I am behind in saving them to my borders.
Mom handled being outside for the trick or treaters for about 1 1/2 hrs of the 2 hr period they can go during.
When I was young trick or treat was always on Halloween and we went out after supper when it was dark.
It was so much fun then.  But in 73-74 a little girl was raped and murdered while trick or treating.
After that everything changed.  We did not get many kids.  Mom thought about 30.  I have not heard how
Many Diane got this year.  last year she got around 300.  Have not heard how many Suz had either, being new to the
Neighborhood they had no idea what to expect.  I am feeling a trifle better.  It would be great if I could get a good sleep.
I am boy going to be on much over the next couple of weeks but will do my best.  You know that charity event for MS
that I was part of.  Well, the winter event is this weekend.  It is Shoeboxes for Christmas.  It is also the weekend
That the Weider Women are gathering here in Fond du Lac.  My Aunts Sandy, her best friend Googie, Penny and Barb
And I think 3 cousins are coming, so there will be 12 of us.  we will be just hanging out, talking, laughing, watching movies
and eating.  So I have far more than I can deal with.  I was going to skip the shoebox event but they begged me to
Commit to at least ding the 4 guaranteed items and more if I could.  If they get 100 donors, then that is 400
personalized items.  so I will be sticking to basics, lol.  I do get 2 weeks following the event to fulfill my
Guaranteed items so that is good.  Did I say I feel a little better?  Cause I do.
Love you all, Lou Ann

Good Monday Morning.   The Countdown to Halloween has begun.  Are you ready?

We are pretty much as ready as we are going to be.  We want to make a run to the meat market today to get ground beef and ground buffalo so Mike can make his traditional chili tomorrow.  We have all the other ingredients in.  The house is as decorated as it's going to be, we aren't handing out treats or giving or going to a party, so except for the chili, we're ready.

We're running out of Halloween movies.  I guess we started too soon.   We've rewatched a few and I think some of the regular TV shows this week have Halloween themes and that's always fun.

Oooh, Anise Coffee this morning.  Is that Halloweeny?  lol   It's yummy, anyway.

Lou Ann, I'm glad you are beginning to feel better!

Does your mom actually stay outside to hand out the trick or treats?   Doesn't she get cold??   If I thought I could stay on the porch, I could hand out treats, but I'm pretty sure I would freeze to death!    We're only going to be in the low to middle 50s for the rest of the week.    How ever she did it ~ Good for her!

OhMyGosh ~ Diane getting 300!   Exhausting ~~ but so much fun.

I'm glad you are doing the shoeboxes again this year.  I know everything you make will be special, and I know you'd feel bad if you didn't take part ultimately.  How fun to have the Weider Women Get together.  (Or is that Wilder Women?  lol)

Make it a great day!

RE:OCTOBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:10/28/2013 11:12 PM)

Dorothy, we always have sat outside to pass out treats since moving here.  The double set of steps are just too hard on the little ones in their costumes.  And the door opens to an entryway to both our apt and apt 2.  I think I have a pic.

The lower windows on the left are apt 2, the big window on the right is our living room.  The upstairs view is all apt 3, where I used to live.  The front window to the left was my bedroom.  I loved the open porch and then the living room is directly above ours.  Apt 4 is the back upper apt.  The first set of steps takes you to porch level and the second set takes you to the door.  We have tried sitting on the porch but then the kids still have to manage the first set of steps.  I usually set up a chair down below the steps or when I could I sat on the steps.  I did see mom sitting in her rocker on the porch before she came in.  I guess this year Diane had 250 kids and Suzanne had around 75.  I swear, next year we go sit on Diane's enclosed porch and watch her pass out candy.  My mom is a Halloween Grinch, lol.  If she thinks the kids are too big she tells them so.  I, on the other hand, will give to anyone in costume, including adults and dogs, lol. But come ask me for candy with no costume and see what you get....a whole lot of nothing, lol.  If you cannot bother, neither can I.
I was a recipient in the Shoebox Cause last year, not a creator.
The MS event was my first stint as a creator.  I wish I had the time to do this up right, but I cannot do the 72 straight like I did the last time.  I think I was one of the most prolific creators.  But I cannot help that the date they chose did not work for me.  usually they have it in October so I thought I would be fine, but they chose a later date this year.  Oh well,
next year.  I have to be so careful about copyright for these events.  As long as I stick to the TOU I should be good.  But I
hate having to put words on everything I make.  Not just the copyright info, but the want words, like Hello or something so that no one can reuse them for personal gain.  Jiminy Crickets, such a bunch a bahooey.  Oh well.
Saturday we watched all the Good Witch movies on Hallmark,
including the newest edition.  They are fun...I just wish they had a little more magic/spookiness to them.  But at least my mom will watch these, lol.  I hope to fit practical magic in somewhere....I would love to watch Hocus Pocus and The Witches of Eastwick too, but that is not likely to happen.
Feeling a little bit better, but am still not sleeping well.
Hugs,

RE:OCTOBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:10/29/2013 10:33 AM)

It's going to be a cold one today.  When I turned on the morning news, they said the wind chill was 27!  Brrrr.  Heading for the high 40s ~ a good day for Mike to make chili!

Our big excitement yesterday was a trip to the meat market to pick up meats for the chili, plus some ground chuck to freeze for a meat loaf later on, and to mail in our ballots for the current local election ~ City Council members and a tax increase that Michael Bloomberg and Gates are spending a million dollars here to promote.   Always impressive when out of state billionaires contribute large sums of money to influence local elections.  If I hadn't already voted when I learned this, I'd have had to be sure to vote against what ever they were sticking their noses into Colorado's business to promote.   Too late.  I already did!

Mike started my day off with a Halloween (Trick or Treat?) Present.   I gave him an early gift of two Godiva "Chocolate Truffle Flights" (six truffles in each), but he knows I'm trying to shed a few pounds so he did much better for me ~~ the new Joanna Carl book "The Chocolate Book Bandit"!    Chocolate without the carbs!    If you've never read her, her protagonist is an amateur sleuth who works with her aunt who runs a chocolate company where they make their own chocolates.  You get all sorts of chocolate lore along with a few recipes and a good mystery.  What's not to love?    Who says grown ups can't have Trick or Treat?

Thanks for sharing the picture of your house and the explanation of what is where, Lou Ann!   I can't believe you guys sitting outside in Wisconsin in late October!  Brrrrrrr.   Now I really feel like a Wuss not handing out treats.   Our porch is set up perfectly to sit and hand out treats, but I can't imagine sitting there in the cold for two hours.  Makes me shiver to think of it.  lol

I really do miss doing Trick or Treat, though.     Like you, anybody in costume gets treats from me, even when they are taller than I am.   I love Halloween and all it's trappings, and anyone else who loves it too is ok with me.   I'd often give an extra candy bar to the little ones to take back to parents waiting for them on the sidewalk ~~ not that the parents weren't going to get enough candy.

I know whatever you make will be special.  Too bad you have to jump through so many hoops just to make something for someone, but that's the way things are now.  I'm glad I grew up when I did instead of now.  I remember the first Halloween after I was retired.   I was so excited thinking I would make and package home made treats for the kids.  I had all sorts of cute ideas ~~ until I realized that I couldn't make home made treats to hand out or some kid was likely to say I poisoned him and I'd be hauled off to jail.  Of course, realistically none of the parents would let their kids eat anything that didn't come pre-packaged, and I couldn't blame them.  Still, it was a disappointment.

I saw that the Good Witch was on Saturday but didn't watch.   I have them all recorded to DVD except the newest one, and I wish I'd at least recorded that one.   I hope it is on again soon.  I like that series too ~ so does Mike.

Happy Tuesday.    Stay Warm!

One more day to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween.

(Did you ever watch the movie Halloween 3 ~ the non-Jason one?  This was the song commercial they kept playing over and over, and every Halloween we "hear" it even if we haven't seen the movie again. It was a count down that started at "8 more days to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween" and then counted down all the days until "today". If I could put the music up I would,so it would play in your heads, too.  lol)

Mike got up this morning and went to get coffee while I propped up in bed and reached for my Lap Top.   Soon he came back in and said "You have to see this" and opened the blinds.  I assumed a beautiful sunrise, but no!  We got SNOW!  Not much and accompanied with fog, but nonetheless we woke to SNOW.  It's supposed to clear off by noon and head for the high 40s or low 50s.

I hope Shiela is having good weather for her trip!

Mike's chili turned out grreaaat.  The last two times he has made it, the first bite tasted wonderful and then the heat began to build.  By bite three, it was so hot I couldn't eat it.  He switched spices this time and it was "warm" but not so hot I couldn't enjoy it, and delicious.  He's a good man, that Charlie Brown of mine.  I hope there will be enough left to freezel

Oh,no!   He just came in singing that song "Happy, happy Halloween . ." and handed me a Day Before Halloween gift.   Now I know what he has been chuckling and giggling about!   For years one of the candies we have handed out at Halloween has been Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, because they are my favorites and if we had leftovers that's what I wanted leftover.  Mike decided that even though we weren't handing out treats, I should still have my Peanut Butter cups for Halloween, but since I was trying to lose a few pounds (I'm trying not to say the 'D-Word') he would only get me two.

Of course they are advertised as the world's largest Reese's Peanut Butter Cups ~ 1/2 pound each!  (serving size = 1/12th of the package, 22 grams of carbohydrate each.)   1/12th of the package?  Are they KIDDING?  I could polish off one entire cup all by myself, no problem!  (But I would hate myself in the morning ~ when I got on the scale.  lol)   No wonder he was laughing!  Now the question is "How long will she hold out?"  Oh, and I take back what I said about him being a good man!  LOL!    Ok, I admit, I can't stop laughing either.

As long as I'm sharing a picture, I may as well share a few more.  These are our 'elaborate' Halloween decorations this year.

And here are some pictures of the Canadian Maple in the back before all the leaves are gone.  There is also a shot of our unusual Pampas Grass.

But enough about ME. (Too much, in fact.)  lol

I hope you're feeling lots better Lou Ann.

Happy Halloweeeeeeen Eve!

 Hello DorothyI
Sorry I did not make it in yesterday.  This "cold" has really got me down.  I am not getting enough sleep and am feeling exhausted all the time.  Oh quit whining!!  I have no energy and no interest in doing anything.  I have the new Page for November to do and I am going to say now that between that, the Shoebox Event and the Weider Women weekend, I am going to be late or non-existent on some or all.  So be
prepared for a temp fix come Nov 1.
Ooooh, Dorothy, giant peanut butter cups....Mike truly is evil. Hahaha  I have never seen the movie you are referring to.  I saw the first one of all those type movies and that was enough for me.  I hated them in my younger days.  Especially Freddie...he scared the crap out of me.  Now I could probably handle them, but watching them alone is not fun.  Who will respond when you say ... Don't be an idiot ...  Do not go in there... Why are you alone?.. No, do not split up....I always startle so easily.  Your decorations are just right and your maples are so delicately pretty.  I love the leaves on the ground.  We had chili tonight and it was sadly lacking something.  Just seemed to be not much of anything to it and I like chili to have a bit of a kick.  Just a bit or it is just tomato soup!  Gotta his up facebook now.  Have not been there yet today.  Have a great Halloween!!
Hugs,
