Sigh, the last post of October, my favorite month.
Where did it go? I am sorry that I missed 2 days, I
knew I missed Wed since the ladies were here but I
thought I posted last night. Cannot believe I missed it.
So, Wed when the ladies came we were having a lovely
evening. Carol wanted to watch the World Series but
we non sports people won. So then she had brought
a movie along to watch. Moms Night Out. She said it
was hysterically funny. We watched it. For some
reason it was in black and white and I could not figure
out why that would be. We checked and there was
not an option to watch in black and white. We stopped
the movie, took it out and put it in again and still it
was black and white. We watched a movie that other
day that played fine and in color, lol. I have not tried
another movie to see if the problem still exists. Ask
Mike please if he has a clue how this happened. The
movie was mildly funny with a couple of exceptional
moments. Have you seen it or plan to see it? If not,
I will tell you what I thought was the funniest moment.
After that was said and done we checked in on the game
or maybe we did that before the movie. Anyway, I have
told you before that I try not to talk politics or religion
with Carol. She only sees things in black and white with
no grey. But a damn political commercial came on and
that started it. There was just something in her tone
that got both Gloria and I going. The she said in a very
condescending way. You just do not understand and then
she repeated it. Gloria looked like she was going to cry
and she started packing up her stuff. Carol was like
"what's wrong?" I said no one likes someone to tell them
they are too stupid to understand and she said it was not
what she meant. I said, well it sounded that way to me
and Gloria said me too. She has been so anxious the last
couple months because they were converting over to
Medicare and needing to find a supplemental, etc. You
know how difficult it is to understand all that insurance
crap. Then when she thought it was all right...they are not
getting bills paid. Seems medicare thought they were still
on insurance. She finally got that straightened out. Then
they had to use the dentist and she gave them all her new
dental insurance info. But in the end, they billed her old
insurance. She was on edge with all this and then Carol hits
her with that she does not understand. She said she was
sick of people telling her she was too stupid to understand
things. She was crying. Carol went and sat with her and
told her she was sorry, it was not what she meant. She
kept talking and hugging etc but Gloria really was not
responding to it. I came up with something funny that made
her laugh and then we were ok again. Carol never
apologised to me and I was on the verge of tears. We have
said now that we will not discuss politics or religion. I just
know she will start it again, but Gloria and I are not going
to respond and I will kindly tell her we are not going that
route. Mom said she said more than once to "stop talking
politics" but no one was listening. I heard it once and that
was when we were stopping.
I still have not gotten your pressy in the mail. I cannot find
my postage scale. It does not weigh much so I will slap
some stamps on it and hope it is enough.
We watched the different talk shows today to see the
costumes. Live With Kelly and Michael was disappointing.
The View was ok, their costumes were creative. The Talk,
in the afternoon was excellent, their costumes were
fabulous. And Ellen was great too. She was dressed as a
bride and she had a fake man attached to her. Her arm
came through his and she had a fake arm for that side of
her dress. Then I saw the face on the fake guy and it was
George Clooney so she was his new bride. She said her
costume was a total fantasy because she would never be
married to a man. All the guests on these shows and much
of the audiences were in costume so it was fun. Saw some
really great costumes. On the Early Show, or one of the
morninging shows that is on at 8 had a baby carriage with
a baby in it but the head was a real person and she "being a
he, had a crown on and was the new prince. He even had
"guards" from Buckingham Palace with him. (Costumes)
They got stuck in the corn maze because it was too big
and they had trouble getting out. I found that funny.
I have been so busy. I made bracelets for our 5 out of
town visitors last week. We have been making things for a
Christmas Basket Auction for the fund raiser for the little
boy I told you about who's sitter (his moms boyfriend)
hurt him. He is home now, he survived against the odds.
But one side of his brain is gone. He is a hemiplegic and he
does not have good control of his other side. So far he has
not managed any words. They are having a dinner and music
and a silent auction and a "Chinese Auction". Josh will be
playing between 7 and 8:30 and then someone else takes
over. Our church puppets (they are fantastic) are doing 2
shows. Mom made a beautiful tree skirt for our basket. I
bought 2 old time Christmas TV Episode DVD's for it. One
is TV shows, 49 episodes, from the 50's and 60's. The
other is 6 or 7 Christmas Cartoon shows for kids. Jo is
putting in a candle, a frame, and a wreath and whatever
else she finds in her basement...she picked up things after
Christmas for gifts this year. Diane is adding to it too.
Then I made the mistake of saying I had a big basket they
could use, but both Joanne and Diane said they had some.
Then all of a sudden today they need my basket. Damn, it
was a beauty. I got it long time ago when basket parties
were the rage. It looks like new and now it is gone, lol.
But to a good cause. I hope they get good money for it as
that was not a cheap basket.
I also am a volunteer creator again for the Christmas
Shoebox Event and that is in 2 weeks. I need to get
started now on making letters and tags for it. I have to do
at least 4 personalized items for all who join the event and
then I have prizes to make for 1, 2, and 3 place winner.
And a prize for the grand winner. Then you can offer all
kinds of random tags and letters for all, or the first 10 or
for any that answer any little contest you run. It cost $25
to get into the event and you are guaranteed at least 100
items...as there are usually over 25 creators. With that you
also get one raffle ticket. For every $5 more. you get
another ticket and there are raffles throughout the event.
The creators pay this too. But there are raffles that are
just for the creators that are for gift certs to all different
clip art, tube and scrap places and there is a goodie bag for
all the creators with tubes, clip art certs for places. There
are also exclusive tutorials. That is the one thing that
really bugs me, is that everything that we make is exclusive
to the event. IM letters cannot be as people can snag them
but all tags you make for the event you cannot make or
offer anywhere else. I have made some really great tags
for these events. It hurts to not share them lol.
I have never had Kale, that I no of, but Louann makes
wonderful mixed green salads and I would not be surprised
to hear that she has used Kale.
Hope your chili is yummy and I would just go with the sour
dough bread and make the corn bread another time.
Good bye October, see you in November.
