RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/15/2014 7:01 PM)

Smashing Pumpkins???  LOL, I had my mammogram today. :)  Maybe it is more like mashing pumpkins.  It was not pleasant but it could have then worse.  The hardest and most painful part for me was standing.  Because of the way I had to stand and that I am so sensitive to being poked and prodded...it hurts me more than it should.  I am wondering if this really needs to be done yearly...the last one I had done was like 2003 and before that 1995, hahahaha...I am definitely non-compliant.  I think that if standing had not been an issue it would have been a piece of cake.  It is not easy when you have very large breasts ;)

I cannot believe you skipped dessert.  You did not even get one to take home and eat later?  Wow, who are you and where is the real Dorothy and Mike?  LOL with the wine, I hope it was Mike's turn to pay :D  Your mixed grill is right up my alley.  Now I wish I had some.  I did not have hardly any vegetables today. though I had plenty of fruit.  I really love vegetables and being on blood thinners really puts a damper on it.  The greens are all my favorites.  Do peppers count as a green?  I want some veggies right now!

Could ShoGun have pulled the wreath off somewhere?  Is there somewhere it could have slid down behind something?  No one has been in your house have they?  It cannot just disappear.  I am sending in the ghost busters.  How can a beautiful practically new home have ghosts, are you sure your home isn't built over a an ancient burial ground?   You have a Halloween Mystery on your hands.

I miss Mary Ann too.  I asked the brother to give us updates but that has not happened.  I will try writing him and see if I get a reply.  I am sure I saved his email.  We had another BCA challenge and this is it.

Hugs,

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/16/2014 11:02 AM)

Windy here today so since we only had one bag in our garbage can, we didn't bother to take the can to the curb.   Mike got the water to the sprinkler system turned off and the last I heard is that the landscapers will come today and drain the pipes and turn the sprinklers off outside.  Sooo, does that mean it's really Fall?

Not too much going on with us.  Of course as always there is so much we SHOULD be doing, but I don't think we WILL be doing a lot.  I'm having some problems so I'm pampering myself, and Mike is following suit. smiley87

My niece Mary Ann (Jack and Vince's Grandma) had a lump discovered and it proved to be malignant.   On Tuesday had a lumpectomy and will start radiation soon.

Our sister-in-law, Carolyn is coming for Thanksgiving.  We were  hoping Laine would be able to come with her, but she is near graduating from college and just learned that her school had one final requirement class that she had been unaware of.  It involves her giving 21 hours of community service and writing a 4000 word paper in addition to her regular course work.  She also has a full time job, so this is really putting her under time pressure.  She has a 4.0 GPA and not completing this class would alter her GPA.  Anyway, she can't come.  Carolyn will fly in on Thanksgiving morning and spend Thanksgiving with us, then spend Friday with her daughter, and then fly back to Omaha on Saturday afternoon.   Hardly worth changing the sheets ~ LOL.  (Not to worry.  I promised her we would). smiley87

We haven't seen her since before Tom died since we couldn't attend his funeral, so it will be nice to get together in person.   The short time may be just right because we really aren't so much fun anymore.  I think we used to show guests a good time, but things have changed ~ too much.

In the news ~ a second nurse who treated Mr Duncan has been diagnosed with Ebola, as I'm sure you all know.  What we have learned is that the CDC gave her permission to fly on a commercial airline even though she had a temperature of 99.5.   Now the CDC is trying to blame her because while she said she had the temperature, she didn't tell them she felt bad.    The Blame Game begins.
Now not only all who worked in the hospital and had contact with Mr Duncan or either of these nurses are in jeopardy, but so is everyone who flew on the plane with her and those THEY came in contact with  AND how about those who flew on the same plane afterwards?

The CDC Director says that closing down Commercial flights from West African countries where  the Ebola epidemic exists would cause Ebola to spread more there and put us all in more danger.    Would someone please explain that to me, because I am far to dense to understand it!  It makes absolutely no sense at all to me!

I'm watching the Congressional Hearings on it "as we speak".  Will they actually say anything of value or make any decisions, or just give political speeches?  Can they possibly 'get' that this is not a Political issue but a Public Health issue?  I don't hold out a lot of hope for progress, but we'll see.  Oh, Lord. Waxman is up. There goes any hope for this not to just be partisan crap.  So productive ~ not.

I could rant about three or four other things, but I will give you a break and hush up. smiley84
No New Topic
Thank you for explaining 'Smashing Pumpkins'.  I envisioned you running up to houses and stealing their jack-o-lanterns to smash in the street.  LOL
Like you, I don't always comply with the requirement.

No, I can't even IMAGINE what could have happened to that wreath!  Too strange!   Definitely a Halloween Mystery!

Thank you for the beautiful BCA tag.  Definitely timely for me because of Mary Ann.

Have a terriffic Thursday!

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/17/2014 12:02 AM)

I ALMOST MISSED COMING HERE TONIGHT.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT.

IT HAS BEEN A BAD DAY ALL AROUND AND I FEEL LIKE A TOTAL FAILURE.  I WENT TO BED SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT BECAUSE I WAS JUST EXHAUSTED.  FROM WHAT I HAVE NO CLUE BUT I COULD NOT STAY AWAKE.  MOM WAS ASLEEP IN HER CHAIR AND STILL IN HER CLOTHES.  I STOOD NEXT TO HERE SAYING HER NAME OVER AND OVER AND SHE DID NOT AWAKE. SO I THOUGHT, WELL SHE CAN JUST SLEEP IN HER CLOTHES.  I WENT TO BED.  SO APPARENTLY SHE AWOKE AROUND ONE AND WENT TO HER ROOM TO PUT A NIGHT GOWN ON.  AT SOME POINT, WHILE SHE WAS NAKED, SHE FELL.  SHE HOLLERED FOR ME BUT I DID NOT HEAR HER.  SO SHE DECIDED TO SCOOT ACROSS THE FLOOR INTO THE LIVINGROOM AND USE HER CHAIR TO GET UP.  WELL A BARE BUTT WILL NOT SCOOT ACROSS A LINOLEUM FLOOR THAT IS GROOVED LIKE A WOULD FLOOR.  SHE HAD TO BE ONLY 3 FEET FROM MY DOOR TO SCOOT INTO THE LIVING ROOM.  WHY SHE DID NOT COME BANG ON MY DOOR I DO NOT KNOW.  IT WOULD HAVE MADE MORE SENSE THAN GOING INTO THE LIVING ROOM ONTO CARPETING.  SHE TRIED GETTING OVER ONTO HER KNEES TO GET UP AND COULD NOT.  SHE SAT ON THE FLOOR WITH HER LEGS OUT IN FRONT OF HER LEANING AGAINST HER RECLINER.  SHE SAID SHE DID NOT SLEEP BUT I KNOW SHE DID.  SHE FOUND A FOLDED UP MATTRESS COVER THAT SHE MANAGED TO GRAB TO USE AS A BLANKET.  THE PHONE RANG TWICE WHILE SHE WAS DOWN.  JORDAN WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COMING TO HELP HER TODAY AND SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL HIM STARTING AROUND 8:30AM.  THANK GOODNESS SUZ HAD TOLD JERRY AND HE GOT AFTER JORDAN TO GET UP.  HE WAS ONE OF THE PHONE CALLS WONDERING WHY SHE HAD NOT CALLED.  SO ANYWAY, HE DROPPED JORDAN OFF HERE ABOUT 8:45 AND HE CAME IN AND SAW MOM ON THE FLOOR.  THE FIRST WORDS OUT OF HIS MOUTH WERE "GRANDMA, ARE YOU NAKED?".  POOR TRAUMATIZED BOY.  HE KNOCKED ON MY DOOR AND WOKE ME UP.  ACCORDING TO MY C-PAP I HAD SLEPT 8.5 HOURS AND I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED FOR A WHILE IF HE HAD NOT WOKE ME.  I CAME OUT TO HELP HIM LIFT HER AND HE SAID LET ME TRY ALONE.  HER WENT BEHIND HER PUT HIS ARMS AROUND HER AND LOCKED THEM OVER HER CHEST AND LIFTED HER STRAIGHT UP.  SHE SAID DO NOT LET ME GO YET.  I GOT HER WALKER IN FRONT OF HER AND SHE GOT HER BALANCE.  SHE HAS A RAW AREA ON HER BOTTOM AND IS SORE, BUT AGAIN HAS ESCAPED SERIOUS INJURY.  I FEEL WRETCHED.  WHAT GOOD AM I TO HER IS I CANNOT HERE HER HOLLER FOR ME.  I SLEEP WITH A FAN ON.  WHEN I WORKED NIGHTS I GOT IN THE HABIT TO BLOCK OUT NOISE AND I REALLY NEVER KICKED IT.  I SLEEP SO MUCH BETTER WITH A FAN ON.  I ASKED SHY SHE DID NOT THROW SOMETHING AT MY DOOR OR FIND SOMETHING TO BANG ON A WALL OR FLOOR.  SHE WAS ONLY ABOUT 6 FEET FROM MY DOOR.  SHE SAID SHE COULD NOT REACH THE PHONE, THOUGH HER GRABBER WAS ONLY A COUPLE FEET IF THAT FROM WHERE SHE WAS SITTING.  I THINK SHE WAS SOMEWHAT CONFUSED.  WE ARE NOTICING MORE AND MORE SIGNS OF DEMENTIA.  THE ONLY THING I COULD THINK OF TO PREVENT THIS SORT OF THIS THING AGAIN WAS IF SHE WOULD WEAR A WHISTLE ALL THE TIME WHEN SHE IS HOME, THAT WAY IF SHE FELL SHE COULD BLOW THE WHISTLE AND I WOULD HEAR IT, I HOPE.  I DO NOT KNOW IF I WILL BE ABLE TO SLEEP TONIGHT.  I WORRY ABOUT HER.   I HAVE BEEN FRETTING OVER THIS ALL DAY.  SO SORRY TO HAVE DUMPED THIS ON YOU.

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/17/2014 8:39 AM)

We've made it through another week ~ almost ~ and we're still here.    We still don't have the work on the AC done and I'm beyond frustrated.  Mike has called every week and been told he got behind because of the rain (though there has been little) and the work will be done "early next week".   I sent him an email thinking maybe a different voice would move him, but he didn't respond either to my email or to either of us by phone.   I think Mike is going to have to call someone else and start all over again ~ and of course we haven't a clue who to call except to start with the "big" Landscaping companies.

Ok, thats my bytch for today.  I think I'm going to try to get my color in my hair today, and tonight we're going to the Bonefish for an early dinner, so that's a happier thought.

We have been invited to a couple of nieghborhood parties this week and next.  The one was the Trivial Pursuit party yesterday, which we declined.  They needed to be sure everyone would show up because it's based on teams, and we can never guarantee that we can come.   The other is a Halloween party next Saturday at the home of our unofficial Social Director, Roxanne and her husband Jim.   The first party we went to as a couple in the neighborhood was a Halloween party they threw before we moved in.   We've accepted the invitation and I really hope we can go.

My husband has been telling me that he has a Halloween gift for me if we go.  What on earth?  Something to take or wear to the party?  I couldn't imagine.  Well, yesterday it came.   For all you Harry Potter fans, it's an official Professor McGonagall witches hat! What a total hoot!  Do you think he's trying to tell me something?  The party invitation said costumes are optional, and I was planning to wear just a cute Halloween sweater, but now I must wear Professor McGonagall's hat as well!   LOL  I won't be able to take it off because I don't have a permanent and can you even imagine the Hat Hair I would have if I did?

So that's my 'news' for today.  I'll let Ebola and ISIS and the election fend for themselves today.  smiley87

smiley6

OhMyGosh, Lou Ann, your poor mom!  What an awful thing! Thank God she didn't hurt herself badly.   I can imagine how you feel but you know that you can't blame yourself for something you couldn't possibly help.  I'm just so glad you are able to sleep through the night, even though in this case it would have been much better if she could have awakened you.   Not something you had any control over.  I know I'm wasting my breath if I tell you not to stay awake worrying at night but I hope you don't, and that you were able to sleep last night.   Obviously she was in a deep sleep earlier if you couldn't wake her before you went to bed, so she was probably still 'fuzzy' when she got up to get undressed.  Bless her heart ~~~ and yours too!

It really might be a good idea for her to carry a whistle or something for a situation like this, should it ever happen again.  Thank goodness Josh came over and could get her up ~ I can imagine how traumatized he was at seeing his grandma on the floor AND unclothed!

Sending good vibes for you both...

HERE WE ARE AGAIN.  MOM IS DOING WELL TODAY.  I  DID SLEEP BUT IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO DROP OFF.  I KEPT LISTENING FOR HER.  BUT I DID GET 6.1 HOURS OF SLEEP, SO THAT IS GOOD.  IT WAS JORDAN THAT FOUND HER NOT  JOSH....WE WAS IN SCHOOL.  JORDAN IS OUT TROUBLED ONE.  I ALMOST DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM.  HE GOT A NICE SHORT HAIRCUT AND WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES.  LOOKED LIKE A NICE CLEAN CUT YOUNG MAN.  HE ALSO SHAVED HIS SCRAGGILY BEARD.  THOUGH HE SAYS WHEN COLD WEATHER COMES THE BEARD WILL BE GROWN AGAIN.  I SAID IF HE KEPT IT TRIMMED NICE IT WOULD BE FINE....JUST NOT BUSHY.  HE WAS HERE AGAIN TODAY AND SCRUBBED THE DINING ROOM FLOOR.  HE WILL BE BACK TUESDAY TO DO THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOM FLOORS.  OUR BATHROOM IS SO SMALL AND THE TOILET IN A POSITION THAT YOU CANNOT EASILY GET BEHIND IT OR ALONG THE WALL AND NEITHER MOM OR I CAN GET DOWN SO EVEN THOUGH WE SCRUB THE FLOOR WITH A MOP WE CANNOT GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE EDGES SO THEY GET DIRT BUILD UP ALONG THE EDGE.  I WANT HIM TO GET DOWN ON HIS KBEED AND CLEAN IT UP.

I WOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THE CHALLENGES IN MY GROUP THIS WEEK SINCE I AM MOTW.  BUT THERE ARE ALWAYS 2 SO I WILL DO THEM FOR TERISA WHO IT THE OTHER MOTW.  BUT I HAVE NOT GOTTEN AROUND TO THEM YET.  HOPE TO THIS WEEKEND.

I HAVE A HUGE PUMPKIN TO CARVE FOR HALLOWEEN.  SUZ BOUGHT IT AT THE FARMERS MARKET FOR ME FOR MY BIRTHDAY AS SHE SAYS I ALWAYS CARVE THEM.  I AM PRETTY SURE I DID NOT DO ONE LAST YEAR.  BUT I USED TO BE THE ONE TO CARVE THEM WITH THE BOYS.  THEY WOULD ALL COME OVER HERE AND I WOULD BUY THEM ALL PUMPKINS AND THEN WE WOULD CARVE THEM.  A COUPLE OF TIMES WE WENT ON A HAYRIDE AND PICKED THEM OURSELVES.  i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

I HAVE GOTTEN SOME CANDY BUT DO NOT KNOW IF WE WILL ACCEPT TRICK OR TREATERS ON THE 26.  IT DEPENDS ON WHEN THE AUNTIES LEAVE AND THE WEATHER.  IF IT IS REALLY COLD WE MAY JUST GO OVER TO DIANE'S HOUSE AND WATCH THE KIDS FROM HER ENCLOSED PORCH AND ADD OUR CANDY TO HERS.  BUT IF IT IS MILD WE WILL PROBABLY JUST DO IT FROM HERE.  I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED DOING IT.

I SO LOVE THAT HE GOT YOU MC GONAGALL'S HAT.  HOW AWESOME IS THAT??  CANNOT WAIT FOR PICTURES.  I USED TO DRESS UP TO PASS OUT CANDY.  ONE OF MY COSTUMES WAS A WITCH.  BUT WHEN I PAINTED MY FACE GREEN, THEN THE LITTLE ONES WERE AFRAID OF ME.  IF I DO NOT THEY ARE FINE.  I USED TO HAVE THE CUTEST MONKEY PUPPET THAT HAD REALLY LONG ARMS AND LEGS THAT WOULD VELCRO AROUND MY NECK AND WAIST.  MY HAND WENT UP INTO THE MOUTH AND IT HAD A SQUEAKER IN IT.  IT LOOKED LIKE A REAL MONKEY AND KIDS LOVED IT.  I DID NOT DRESS UP THE ONE YEAR BUT MADE A BLACK CAPE AND WITCHES HAT FOR THE MONKEY AND HE WAS A BIG HIT.  SOMEWHERE I ALSO HAVE A SKULL THAT HAS A MICROPHONE ATTACHED AND IT WOULD MOVE IT'S MOUTH WHEN I TALKED.  THE OLDER KIDS LOVED IT BUT NOT THE YOUNGER ONES DID NOT, IT SCARED THEM.  SO THAT WAS ENOUGH OF THAT.  I WONDER WHERE THAT SKULL IS?  SOMEWHERE IN THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE ROOM IN THE BASEMENT I GUESS.

THAT'S IT FOR ME.  I HOPE YOU COLOR TURNS OUT RIGHT FOR YOU.  I WANT TO GO RED BUT THEN I CHICKEN OUT...I DO NOT WANT TO LIFT MY COLOR.  BUT IF I JUST ADD RED TO MY DARK BROWN THEN YOU ONLY SEE IT IN BRIGHT LIGHT.  MAYBE A COLORED HIGHLIGHT OR TOO WOULD BE FUN.  BUT I ALSO DO NOT WANT TO DRAW ATTENTION TO HOW THIN THE TOP IS.  SO WILL WAIT.  I AM GETTING A "HAIR MASK" FROM POSH THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PROMOTE HEALTHIER THICKER HAIR AND EVER HAIR REGROWTH.  WE WILL SEE.  I HAVE USED SOME SHAMPOOS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO HELP BUT I NEVER SAW ANY CHANGE.  THE CONSULTANT ALSO SUGGESTED BIOTIN WHICH IS A B VITAMIN.  I WILL TALK TO ME DR WHEN I SEE HIM NEXT BECAUSE I LOOKED IT UP AND IT CAN EFFECT BLOOD SUGARS.  MINE ARE RATHER HIGH LATELY AND I NEED TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT THAT TOO.

HUGS,

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/18/2014 7:27 AM)

Helloooooooo.

I had a good day/bad day yesterday.  I got the color in my hair but then I felt terrible, pain, weakness, slight nausea.  A more intelligent person would have stayed home last night, but I was dressed and 'made up' and ready to go, and darn it, I was gonna go!  So, go we did, to the Bonefish for dinner.  I just had half of a cup of soup and a salad and by the end of dinner I felt sooo much better.  No idea what the problem was, but thankfully it's gone.

We were going to vote and I got most of my ballot finished, except for those darned judges.  I never know how to vote for them and there are so MANY of them.   Mike, on the other hand was lazy and didn't get his done, so we will vote today and go out later to mail the ballots.  One of the ballot issues involves an amendment that has received non-stop advertising both for and against.  The ads say it is to allow an out of state casino to build here and donate a good amount to the schools.  Anti-ads dispute the donation.  Anyway, when I read the actual ballot issue, it says nothing about the casino, but only about raising taxes on various kinds of gambling establishments.   Bizarre!

Mary Ann texted me last night and said her Dr called and told her the lymph nodes are clear and the tumor was contained, so no more cancer!  She still has to do the radiation, and that concerns me.  It will probably start in a few weeks, once she is healed from the lumpectomy, and then go Monday through Friday for six weeks.  She has to go to work in the mornings and then drive 45 minutes each way to Minocqua for the treatments, and of course that will be during the Wisconsin winter.  I was very concerned about her being too tired to drive even if it were nice weather, but she assured me that someone would drive her and ordered me not to worry.

You know me and animals.  I was really concerned about the first Ebola nurse's dog, given that they had killed the Spanish nurse's dog.  I did some research and found that they have put him in quarantine with a vet who is looking out for him.   I'm sure he's not having a great time, but unless he gets sick it sounds like he is safe.   Whew.

Ah, but now we don't have to worry about Ebola ~ we have a new Czar!  Never mind that he doesn't have any medical background, he's a good PR guy and that's what we really need.   Aaiieeee!   I swear we have more Czars than Mother Russia!

The image of the lady quarantined on the cruise ships gives me multiple shudders!   First, the poor thing being restricted to her cabin when she and her husband had paid for a lovely cruise ~ how sad.   THEN ~ how do they get food?!  I can see the ship's crew leaving their meals outside of their door for them to pick up, but someone then has to pick up the trays and take them back to the kitchen and clean them.   How does that happen safely?  The good news is that they aren't sick, just being cautious, but what if they do get sick?  Frankly, I'd be concerned as a passenger ~ did a crew member come in contact and get infected?  Will he infect me?   Of course I know the likelihood of any of that happening is slim to none, but I'd still be nervous.    Not as nervous as if I'd been sharing that waiting room with Mr Duncan, but . . .     Ah, well.  Not to worry.  We have our Czar. smiley84

smiley6

So glad your mom is doing well, and that you got 6 hours of sleep.  I rarely get that much and feel great when I do.  It may not be enough, but it's as much as I get except for a rare few times.   I'm soooo glad you are sleeping well.  Good sleep is healing.

I do have a terrible tendency to get your nephews mixed up, even when the name is right there in front of me.  Ha ~ and sorry.  Great that Jordan "cleaned up" AND that he did all that good work for you and will do more!   I need a nephew or two!!

Congratulations on being MOTM in your group!  I hope you have lots of fun and get lots of great tags!

I used to love Halloween decorating and did a whole lot more than I'm doing now. Mike and I used to carve jack-o-lanterns too.   I love the image of your taking your nephews to the Pumpkin Patch, and carving pumpkins with them.  No wonder they love you so much!   Now I'm pretty sure I couldn't stand to gut a pumpkin anymore, and since I KNOW I can't run to the door to answer the trick or treaters, we'll just leave the lights off again this year.  Makes me sad, but it will be fine.  Mike will make his wonderful chili and I'll make Marie Calendar's corn bread (so easy it's embarrassing ~ lol) and we'll stay inside and watch Halloween movies.  Not as much fun as greeting the little ghosties and goblins, but it will be fine.

We paid $5 a piece for the pumpkins we decorated with outside.  Not very large ones and definitely a whole lot more than we used to pay for larger ones!

OMG!  You'll never guess!   When we went out last night, we took the Chrysler.  We hadn't driven it since we went to buy the pumpkins.  As I opened my door, my eyes fell to something on the back seat, behind the driver's seat ~~~~~ The WREATH!    Oh my Lord ~ we are both SENILE!  When we went to buy the pumpkins we took a tape measure to be sure they weren't too big for the openings in the little wreaths, and I suggested we take a wreath too, to see how it would look.   Someone helped us with the pumpkins so we never did put them on the wreath, or even near it, and very obviously we both forgot we had taken it in the car with us.   Well BLUSH!  LOL!   No Poltergeist after all.

Halloween Greetings from our house to yours.

Yup.  We put the pumpkins in the trunk and left the wreath in the back seat, and neither of us had anything approaching an aHa! moment.  LOL

On a more positive note ~~~~

In a couple of days I'll be able to check the Jefferson County site and see that our votes were received.  With all the fraud that went on during the last election, I'm glad I can do this.  Now if there were just a way to see how many un-dead and un-documented also voted . . .

Thanks for popping in and letting me know all is well.    So glad your mammogram was fine!

Have a Happy Day.smiley35

Your curb appeal is fabulous!!! Your tree is gorgeous and
the pots look great. but where is the little trick or treat ghost?  I miss him.
That is cool that you can check to see if your vote was registered.  I wonder if we have something like that.  I would like knowing that my vote counts.
I feel like I get more behind every day.  Since the beginning of October and all that celebrating. I do not know what it is that I seem to get nothing done any more.
Well, I get my blood checked again tomorrow.  Say a little prayer that I am between 2-3.  Would be very nice to be at a nice safe 2.5 I do not want to have a recheck in a week.
We did get a few decorations up outside.  Not much.  Some corn stalks, a couple scarecrows.  My sister brought over 5 little pumpkins from her mother-in-laws.  Will probably put them with the cornstalks.  But they would be easy to steal there or to grab and smash...we do not want that, lol.
I wish I had more to say.

I did!  I did see a spooky cat, and he's under the bed covers!

I'm still using Mike's Track Ball Mouse so I'm ok, just feeling guilty.  This morning he is going to call a few other people about getting the work around the air conditioner done and see if we can find someone to actually DO the work.  Definitely not fun to have to start all over again and worry if and when we can actually get this done, and if it will be before the AC is damaged.

Then he got a Fraud Alert on his credit card, so he has to call about that this morning, too.    We're both good about checking our charges and bank statements, so this one must have just happened and Chase caught it.  He'll probably have to get a new card, and that's a bit of a pain too ~~~ ask me how I know.  I just went through it.  We both use our credit cards online a lot so many places like Amazon have the data stored and he'll have to change it.

Anyway, he's feeling really stressed, and stress doesn't help folks with Parkinson's.

I must be feeling stressed myself.  I had an early morning nightmare!  Very vivid, and I almost never remember my dreams.  In it, I had gone to a new hair dresser who shampoo'd and cut my hair and then wandered off as we were walking back to her station, and I couldn't find her.  Then for the next couple of hours (dream hours that is) I would see her talking to other people and doing other things as my hair dried.  Finally she was going to take one more person ahead of me and I very firmly told her 'No!' and that I'd been waiting since whatever-o-clock.   So, grudgingly she was going to take me BUT then she said she was so sorry but she had these other commitments outside and wouldn't be able to dry and style my hair at all!   I woke up MAD!  LOL   Must be the AC guy and others jacking us around playing with my psyche.   What a way to start the day.  LOL

No New Topic

Oooh, thank you for the darling Hocus Pocus!

And thank you for the compliments on our Curb appeal.  The pumpkins are not exactly what I'd had in mind when I envisioned the larger wreaths, but not too bad after all.   The little pumpkin guy isn't going to join us this year.  He's still in the basement.  He's ok, but he really needs to be restuffed with paper to firm him up.  He's also kind of heavy and awkward for Gimp and Gimpier to bring up, so we decided to let him sit this year out.   I'll tell him you miss him.

I will say a prayer for your blood results!

Your outside decorations sound really nice.  We put up corn stalks once a long time ago in the other house, and I liked the effect.   I don't know why people feel compelled to steal things like pumpkins just for the fun of smashing them.   We've only had a pumpkin stolen once, also at the other house.  We had carved it as a jack-o-lantern and I had put a plastic witches hat on it and it really did look cute.  It was taken after we turned out the lights on Halloween night, so not a real problem, though I would have liked to have kept the hat for the next year.     I hope your pumpkins make it through Thanksgiving.

Last night we saved The Good Wife so we could watch The Paradise  and "Inspector Lewis"on PBS.  Do you watch either of them?  Inspector Lewis retired last year and we thought the series was over, but he was brought out of retirement to assist his former DS (Detective Sargeant) who is now the DI (Detective Inspector).  We were delighted that it has returned, and far less delighted that there were only three or four episodes!  Worse, I fell asleep during the last half hour of last night's episode!    All is not lost, though, because they are now showing this season on Acorn ~~ I think.

In it's place next Sunday will be a two part movie based on P.D. James mystery novel that follows up on Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice.  I read reviews of the book when it came out, but never got around to reading it.  This really sounds like it might be fun.

Can you imagine anyone more exciting than Mike and me, when my conversation is limited to TV shows?   LOL

Have a great day and good luck with your blood test!!!

I got my blood draw but did not hear from Anticoagulation Clinic.  I got the draw a little after 4 so by the time it went to AC it was probably closed for the day.  They will probably call before I get up in the morning and I will have to call them back.  Saw so many beautiful trees in the city and I had forgotten my phone or I would have gotten pics.  It was a gloomy day but the trees were brilliant in colors.  Better than we saw on out scenic drive, lol.
No, it is not snowing here.  But this challenge was to pick a scrap kit and a template from a site given to us and make a tag.  I just loved the Snow Delicious SK and found a template in the same color scheme so I did not have to recolor any of it.  That made it easier.  The template had word art about Santa's sleigh so I just deleted then and made my own.  I had already tagged them when I remembered that we were supposed to use a font that started with the starting letter of our first names.  Damn, too late....but wait....I made the word Snow out of a font starting with L and added it to each tag.  Lot's better than starting over.
Ok, if little trick or treater is under the weather then I understand his wanting to stay in this year.  I hope he is better by next year this time.
I wish I could watch more of a variety of programs, especially the newer ones.  I did watch the opening episode of Jane the Virgin and am not sure what I think of it.  Seems a bit soap opera-ish to me.  And not as hilarious as I thought it would be.  But I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had watched it with my friends instead of my mother.  I miss spending time with my friends.  Seems we do not get together as much as we used to.
We have been cleaning like crazy as we do not know if we have any of the out of town guests staying with us this year.  We secretly hope not.  It is not easy for us to change our routines, etc.  But it is nice getting the house cleaned up.  Except my room is a disaster again.  It never got completed because I got so ill and now it is just getting worse again as I cannot get around in there to out things away properly.  Maybe next week I can get Jordan to help me for a couple of days and really get it finished.
Hmmm, well, somewhere I screwed up on my tag as I have a white background and it is supposed to be like yours.  I will have to fix that tomorrow.  I hope I got all the others right. lol
Hugs,

RE:OCTOBER CHAT

Hellooooooo     I was just reading some news items on Facebook and got so upset.  I need to come here to the comfort and protection of my friends.   My government has gone mad and we apparently no longer have a Constitution.

On a somewhat happier note, Mike is getting a new credit card which is a pain, but all the bad charges were "pending" and hadn't been applied so he doesn't have to mess with their removal.  Interesting: One charge was for $1 to a site called Zappo (I've heard of it, but don't really know what it is), one was someone trying and failing to reload their Starbucks card, and another was for charges to Overstock.com.  Why they came to Chase's attention I don't know.  Chase said sometimes they will try to make small charges to a credit card (like the Zappo charge) just to see if it will work, and if it does they will go all out.   Honestly, just Get A Job!

Then he called two places to see about having someone else come to do the work on the AC.  One never returned his call and the other said they are a month out, but they will come on Friday and give us an estimate ~ then if it's accepted do the work a month later.  Getting nervous because by then we will be getting snow.

Mike has been calling the guy who is supposed to do the work every week and being told he would do it "next week".  Last week he didn't call and instead I emailed ~ and got no response.  Soooo, yesterday Mike tried to find someone else, and I called 'the guy', three times from my cell phone.  I got no answer and didn't leave a message thinking he would ignore it.  He wouldn't recognize my cell phone number, so that might be a good thing.  A few hours after my last attempt, he called me back, identified himself and asked "Did you call me?"    Why, yes I did ~ I identified myself and asked when we could expect to see his smiling face.  (Pause)   "Thursday" said he, and he apologized for not doing it sooner but he needed to combine our 'small job' with another small job, and he could do that on Thursday.  Of course I had suspected as much, but he'd never said that to Mike, only that the rain delayed him.  So I pushed on and asked "Morning or Afternoon", and secured the morning slot for our work.   Supposedly he will come around 8AM on Thursday.   Lord, I hope so!!    Marcela also comes on Thursday, so it will be a busy morning, and then we and the cats will all be pooped.  ha.
smiley2

Hocus Pocus!  I can almost hear Bette Midler singing "I put a spell on you . . ."

Ok, your snow did throw me a curve!   Good to know you don't have it yet!      I LOVE my new tag and the beautiful border.  Tag is saved, and border will be.    Thank you!

Oh boy do I hear you about having company.  I used to love it and plan all sorts of things for them and put little special touches in the guest room.  Now, as much as I enjoy seeing people I don't see often, I'm like the cats.  I don't like having my routine disturbed.   AND of course, everything that used to be so easy to do is so hard now.  Sitting and feeling fine, I'll think "I want to do this and that and something else before they get here".  Then I stand up.  Sucks, I tell you!  (and I know that I don't HAVE to tell you.  smiley80)

Still, it does make you feel good to get everything clean and nice looking, if only for yourselves.   I had so much back pain before Marianne and Bill came that we didn't get anything done that Marcela didn't do.  We needed to have the windows cleaned and I just didn't want to even call.  Now I look at them and almost shudder, they are so dirty.   We probably should have them cleaned twice a year.  I should try and get the guy out before the weather gets bad.
"And so it goes" (can't remember which news person used to sign off with that).

Thanks again for my lovely tags!!

I wonder why some borders will not center on the page?  It always irritates me when they will not.  I like things to go my way, lol.
What did I do today.  Dusted about 15 Porcelain Dolls.  Boy were they dusty.  Picked the sprouts off of 2 brussel sprout plants.  Jordan was here and did the kitchen and bathroom floors. The kitchen is not bad but the bathroom looks like it was never done.  It is a white linoleum floor, so it shows everything.  the kitchen floor is black and does not.  It is actually probably as bad as the bathroom if we could see it.  I think the main problem is that he does not sweep well first.  Part of that may be that I cannot convince mom we need a new broom and dustpan...the ones we have are ancient and I think do a poor job.  I am just going to have to have Suz take me shopping one of these days.  The dustpan is the worst.  It does not have a decent flat edge to it.  But the biggest reason is Jordan does things half-assed.  I have to dust yet and move some things into my room.  Also clean the bathroom fixtures...that seems to be my job, lol.  It will be nice to have things clean.  If we keep things up we will not have a lot of work for the rest of the holidays.
I have heard of Zappos.  They are like an online dept. store.  I wonder what did trigger the inquiry?  So glad they did but since Mike shops all over with his card, how would they know what to question?  I always think that about my card.  That is why I like it when I can go through Pay Pal.
I will keep my fingers crossed that the AC guy shows up Thursday and fixes it. Then you can call the other guy and tell him not to come.  He should have been truthful up front with why he was waiting. Then the choice would have been yours to wait or not.  He did not give you that opportunity.  He should give you a discount for his rudeness and unprofessional behaviour.
My time as MOTW has come to an end, but I did get
a heck of a lot of tags, lol.
See ya tomorrow.
Hugs,

Looks like another nice day here.  I did get a load of laundry done yesterday and I should think of doing another today.  We need to get some boxes cut up and ready to go into the recycle can for pick up tomorrow and I think we're going to go out for dinner tonight.   Not sure I can handle all that activity!

smiley4

I don't know why some of the borders won't 'center' and I agree that it's annoying.  Like when my text looks fine as I type and then 'scrunches' when I post sometimes.  Irritating!

Wow, you got a lot done.  Though I don't know why you bothered with the brussle sprouts ~ they're as horrid as cauliflower.  Bwahahaaaa

Jordan sounds a bit like Marcela.  I don't know what she does but she is sometimes the 'Streak Queen'.  I've given her Norwex cloths and told her you can use them with just water and not "product" because when she uses "product" that often guarantees streaks.  Especially End Dust!  Still, half the time we get the streaks.  Drives me buggy.  Still, I don't know what I'd do without her.

When we do get the house cleaned, we always say 'Now, let's keep it this way!' but our good intentions often don't happen.  We keep things picked up pretty well, but I swear we have the dirtiest cats I've ever known.   Mostly it's Sneezy Chrystie, but both of them have periods when they shed, too.   If we didn't have cats, I think our house really could be close to spotless between cleanings.  It would be a whole lot lonlier place too, so I guess we'll keep them and their mess.  Still SOME DAYS . . . .  Ha.

In the past, Mike has gotten calls for things he has purchased that were from a different store or a larger price than usual asking if they were legitimate.  I think that's great.  I have no idea what prompted Chase to look at these charges unless several came from the same people to other accounts or something.  They hadn't made it to his bill yet, only to 'Pending'.  The one I had that was fraudulent earlier in the year did appear on my bill online before the statement was issued, and I called them about it.  They researched it and took it off and I didn't have to pay it or for any interest or anything, but I did have to get a new card and wait for them to complete the research.  I wish they would tell you what they learned ~ the who and why.

Tomorrow morning (hopefully) "The Guy" comes and so does Marcela, so I will be scarce.  I may try to pop in for a few tonight if I can.

Love ya.

Hi.  I'll be tied up with "The Guy" and Marcela tomorrow morning so I'm posting tonight.

Dinner out tonight was fun.  I just had a salad, but Mike had something new.  I don't know what the official name is but they are like tapas, an assortment of small appetizer-like menu items rather than a traditional main dish.  He chose his beloved Oysters Rockerfeller, and Asian Beef Sliders (three bao type buns in a steamer with Asian beef and cole slaw.  The bao buns are dumpling like buns, that open and you stuff the beef and coleslaw inside ~ like you do with Peking Duck.  I wish I could describe them better.)  He also had a Sweet chili shrimp stack (avocado, mango and shrimp on three stacked tostados).   They all looked wonderful and he said they were good (but spicy).  Maybe next time I'll try the Asian Beef Sliders which were not.

Then we shared a fabulous 'mini dessert' from the same menu.  This was "croissant doughnut holes" served three on a plate with a dish of whipped cream and a little bottle of chocolate sauce and another of salted caramel sauce.  You either inject one or both of sauces into the little doughnut holes or drizzle them over the top (or both) and then dip them in the whipped cream.   Oh, Mercy!  Soooo good.   I should have taken pictures because my descriptions don't come close to doing them justice.

I spent much of today watching the news of the terrorist attack in Ottawa, off and on.  How horrible.  I don't even know what else to say.

On the election news front  (Must I?  I must.)   Project Veritas discovered that Activists in Colorado were essentially Dumpster Diving for discarded Ballots and then using them to vote!   Our current (and God willing Last) Activist State Government made all sorts of changes to the voting process, including Same Day Registration and Voting (no opportunity to check for the validity of the Registration), drivers licenses for Illegal Aliens, and sending ballots to every registered voter in Colorado whether they requested them or not.  If people didn't request the ballots and don't want them, they throw them out, and these lovely folks swoop in and take them and vote.  I guess forging the Registered Voter's name isn't illegal now (she says sarcastically)  If Mark Udall wins, we'll know how.

Then I just read of "Calibration Errors" in Illinois that actually turn votes cast for Republicans to votes for the Democrat when using a Touch Screen.  Remember when that happened in the last Presidential election?

Combine these with the Un-documented and Un-dead votes and I wonder if we will ever have an honest election again.  It's so disheartening.

Well, now that I've started your day on a down note . . . . Hope you have a great day anyway.  smiley80
