Full moon on the 8th is called "Hunters Moon" by Native Americans because at this time of year the deer are fattened and it's time to hunt.  Since all the crops are harvested, it's now time to gather food by hunting animals.

The name October comes from the Latin word
Octo meaning eight.

Good Morning and Welcome to October!

Mike's appointment yesterday morning went as well as it possibly could!  Everything looked good and the Dr ordered his prescription refills online so they are already in the system.   Now we wait for the results of the blood test ~ the real challenge. Fingers crossed.  I'll let  you know about them as soon as I do.   Thank you so much for your prayers.

We stopped for carry out hotdogs and breakfast burritos at a place we'd been wanting to try on the way home.  What a lovely man runs the place along with his brother. We'll freeze some of the burritos for Mike to have from time to time (if they last that long).

Then we pulled into our driveway, and the garage door wouldn't open!  I got out and tried to open it from the door code, and that wouldn't work either.  I went inside and found we were in a Power Outage!  Well, swell!  I called XCell and talked to one of the nicest Customer Services men I've ever talked to, who told me that some 2400 in our neighborhood were without power due to a construction company cutting a cable.  XCell was already replacing the cable, and we should be back on line by 10 to 2, a little over a couple of hours later.  Fortunately, about 5 minutes later it came back on!

I got the rest of that laundry folded and put away and (PTL!)  I updated the Budget Book!   Of course the new funds are deposited today, so I get to do it all over, but at least the last two months are done so it shouldn't be awful!

This morning we have Mike's appointment with his Neurologist.  Not expecting any unpleasant surprises (please!), but he has been having a bit more difficulty so it's possible the Dr may have to increase his meds, or maybe just suggest better timing for taking them.

The office moved to a location near a favorite restaurant so ~~~ you guessed it!  If he gets out during the busiest time, we'll run some other errands and then come back for lunch, otherwise we'll go from the Dr's office.

I suspect it's going to be pretty tired out today!   Mike was really whumped yesterday.  Stress, I'm sure.

I love that pic of Vince, so I had to share.   I have no idea where they got the horsey hat ~ LOL.  Christina does have a horse and they are moving to a new house right next to the place where she keeps her horse.   Of course their Doberman LOOKS like a horse ~ Ha!   (I am completely crazy about that dog!)

Thanks so much for the beautiful tag.  I have it saved.  I'm sorry you are having so much trouble with the new pages.  Don't worry about when you get them up ~ I know they will be worth waiting for.  You have Birthday Celebrating to do!   I'm so delighted that you are really doing it up right!!

Oh, and I saw the picture of you with Samuel(?) on Facebook, and loved it!  There was no place to add a Like or a Comment, so I'm doing it here.

smiley2

Sounds like another full day for us.  I'm not used to full days. They wear me out ~ LOL

Have a great one!

I am just so beat.  I cannot handle all the excitement, lol.

Honestly, it takes a lot out of me and I am coughing more.

So I am glad the physical outings are over and I can relax.

Tomorrow Diane is bringing Chinese to us.  Hopefully I can

get everything up and running during the day.  I need to

catch up on so many things.

Tonight was Papa Murphy's pizza.....Garlic Chicken and

the Cowboy.  Yummy.  Brought home pizza and cake for

tomorrows lunch.  Todays lunch was the left over Chimi

from Mazatlan.  I am probably putting on 10 lbs this week.

But it is worth it.

I am sorry, I think I referred to Vince as Jack.  Another

brain fart.  Well, I think I am off to sleep.  Then I will get

up earlier and get a good start on our pages.

WooHoo, it's Hump Day!

Hugs,

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/02/2014 7:54 AM)

Hello!

It's trash day, and I took the trash to the curb last night because it was raining off and on and I didn't want to have to worry about either of us getting it out this morning.  Of course this morning it is NOT raining ~ ha.

Yesterday went very well, too ~ well, except for Parking at the new location for Mike's Neurologist.  His new office is in a hospital, and parking is BAD.   Other than that, all was good.  The Dr is always 15 minutes or more late seeing Mike, but yesterday because of the parking situation, Mike was late for the first time.  Only a few minutes, but it should have been fine because the Dr is always so late.  This time, the Dr was waiting for him!  Wouldn't you know.

Mike really hasn't been doing as well lately, but the Dr did all the balance tests and (you can tell) checked his cognitive abilities and pronounced him fine.  They discussed that Mike is having more "off times" (times when the meds aren't doing their job) and the Dr increased his medication and submitted it directly to the drug company on line.  More importantly (I think), he left it up to Mike whether or not and when to take the increased dosage.   Too much of the Carbidopa-Levodopa causes dyskinesia, that awful uncontrollable jerky movement like Michael J Fox has.  There is medicine for that, too, but the preferred treatment is Deep Brain Stimulation (implanting an electrode in the brain).  Mike would just as soon "just say no" to that, so we'd like to keep dyskinesia at bay.  Anyway, I think it's great to leave the timing and dosage in Mike's hands because he's the one who knows how he feels.  He now takes 5 pills a day along with two other Parkinson's medicines.  He's going to start taking 5 today, but at different times, and if he needs more he can add one, or even two.  Sounds promising!

We still haven't heard from his regular Dr about the blood test, which could be a good sign.  He usually calls if something concerns him.  I'll feel better when we hear or see the print out of the results, but so far, so good!

Lunch was ok, but not as good as we've come to expect.  Their new menu is different than what they show online, and neither of us could find something we were really excited about.  Still it was good to get out and celebrate the appointments (hopefully) being done!  We're planning to go to the Bonefish, maybe tomorrow, for his second "Celebration".

Watched the new season of Criminal Minds last night.  Jennifer Love Hewitt has joined the cast and instead of going to a hair dresser she has just let her dogs chew her hair off. (Oooh, you're so MEAN, Dorothy).   Absolutely HATED the show, which involved someone kidnapping young women and mutilating them while they were still alive.  Then when they caught the first guy, there was another one doing the same thing.  I used to really like Criminal Minds, but it's gotten crueler and crueler.  Not sure we'll keep watching.  We missed more shows than we watched last season.     After that we tried to watch a new show called "Stalker", and it started off with a man throwing gasoline on a young woman, and after she locked herself in the car, throwing gasoline on the car and lightening.  It exploded, torching her ~~~ and we switched to Acorn and a rerun of an old British Mystery!    Are they just trying to desensitize us so when we are living under Sharia Law and mutilations are the norm, we'll just accept it?   Aarrrggghhhh!

smiley4

I am SOOOO glad you are having such a nice Birthday Week!   Laughing at it wearing you out, because believe me, I understand!   Who would ever have thought how hard on a body having too much fun can be ~~ LOL.

Everything you have had has sounded wonderful, and best yet, you get to have it again for lunch!   You know how I love meals that keep on giving!

Have a great time with Diane  tonight and do NOT worry about getting the pages done!  Just enjoy yourself ~~ that's an Order!

RE:OCTOBER CHAT

Yay!  I got them done. I kind of went a bit on the wild side this time with vivid color, lol. I hope you will like it. Maybe I should make the header a little smaller. It may be a bit much, lol.
Chinese tonight was delicious. I had chicken with black bean sauce. I had to avoid my favs as I need to get my blood checked tomorrow.  I should have done it Tues but with so much going on I completely forgot. It was nice visiting with Diane, she is always so busy and I do not see her often. Mom sees her at church but even there she is busy.
Last night was fun. We picked up Papa Murphy's pizza. 2 large.
One Chicken Garlic and one Cowboy which had sausage, pepperoni,
onions, mushrooms and green peppers. Both were delicious and I got
to bring leftover chicken garlic home. Also 2 pieces of Carrot Cake.
We could not find a movie we wanted to watch so we watched sitcoms. I finally saw Modern Family, that everyone is always talking about. I really liked it and it made me laugh. It was good that Louann could tell us the relationships between all the different characters and how they fit into the show.  I would not mind watching it, but it would not appeal to my mom.
So happy to hear (hopefully when you get bloodwork results) that all is relatively well with Mike. I prayed for all to be well and no nasty surprises. Nobody needs those. I hope he gets his 2nd reward meal.
Made tags to go with the page.
Hugs,

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/03/2014 10:12 AM)

(Knock on wood) I think Mike's change to the times he's taking his meds is working well, at least after Day One.  He took his last pills quite late in the evening and I was concerned that they would keep him awake, but instead he slept well and woke up "perky" ~~~ and, I might add, "Frisky"!   It would be wonderful if just this change would make a big difference without his even increasing the dosage.

I think we're going to the Bonefish for his second celebration tonight.  We still haven't heard the blood test results.  No phone call would seem to be a good thing, but if they aren't in the mail today I will nag him to call the office.

It has been a good bit cooler and will only be in the 60s today, but we're heading for warmer weather for the weekend.

In the news, another case of Ebola ~ a free lance photographer traveling with the Today Show in Africa.  They will be flying him home on Saturday.  The issues surrounding the man who was already diagnosed here are increasing along with the questions about what to do with his clothes, and the need to involuntarily quarantine his family members.  Scary, my friends.

Also scary is the breach of security at J P Morgan/Chase which compromised some 70 million.   My primary credit card is Chase, and Mike also has a Chase card, though he uses American Express more.   They say they don't think anything more than name, address and telephone numbers have been stolen ~~~ they don't THINK being the operative.   We learn more every day about how much we are NOT being told by what seems like everyone "in authority", whether government, CDC or of course a bank or credit card agency.  They seem to have the attitude of 'What you don't know won't hurt you' and if you know everything you won't be able to handle it and will panic.  Worse yet, you might even demand that we FIX it!         I am NOT a Mushroom.  Don't keep me in the dark and feed me 'manure'!

And on that happy note . . .

smiley7

Whoo and Hooo!   I LOVE the new skin!   Wild and Wonderful and I LOVE it!    I also love the new October page.

Mystery Series Week, huh?  Well you KNOW how I love THAT!   And World Smile Day, too.   How nice is that?!

Hooray for the good Chinese Dinner Party.  I was thinking the other day that I haven't heard you mention Diane in a while.  Last night sounded like much fun, too.

When Laine visited us we watched Modern Family for the first time.  We basically don't watch anything with a Laugh Track.  If they have to tell you when to laugh, it can't be that funny, right?  LOL.  Anyway, at least I know what Modern Family is.   Most of the time when someone mentions a comedy (with a laugh track) I just stare blankly cuz I really don't have a clue.

We've been trying out some of the new shows and some of the old returning shows.  Is it just me, or has everything gotten so much darker?    No wonder folks are watching sitcoms.

We didn't watch Stalker, except for the first 10 minutes or so.  Maybe it was good.  After the unbelievable awful stuff on Criminal Minds plus all the nightmarish images ISIS is visiting upon us, neither of us was up to subjecting ourselves to more horror and ugliness.

Last night we watched Haven on SyFy, then Bones, then Gracepoint and finally How to Get Away With Murder.   Whew!  Either Feast or Famine!

Haven's ok, I guess.  I liked it so much more the first season or two.  Bones ~ didn't love it/didn't hate it.  I TOLD them not to sing "Lime in the Coconut" when they had Sweets Memorial, and they did it anyway.  I had threatened to throw my shoe through the TV if they did, but Mike was sitting next to me and I didn't think that was a good idea.  I still felt like it though.  smiley75

Gracepoint ~~ it held me.  I had watched the first several episodes of Broadchurch, the British version, and really didn't like it, but I made a point of NOT playing on my laptop while I was watching so I could really pay attention, and as I said, it held me.  I'll watch again.    Ready for another nasty comment about a TV star?   David Tenant has an interesting though not handsome face.   He was Barty Crouch Jr in the Harry Potter movies, and the best (in my opinion) Dr Who in that series.   In this show, that face with the scruffy beard-ette (or whatever you would call the not quite a beard "I just didn't bother to shave" look), he is absolutely Ugly.   Seriously ~ UGH-ly.  It may fit his character in the show, who isn't exactly a sweetie pie, either.  Ha!

How to Commit a Murder held us both again.  Really different.

Isn't it funny how some of those shows we saw so very many years ago still effect us?  Of course now EVERYTHING seems to be going for shock value, so I just find them distasteful.

Thank  you so much for your prayers for Mike!   I hope we get the final results soon.    I also hope your INR is great and you can continue your Birthday Week with whatever treats you want!

I LOVE my new tag!  Thank you so much!   You are SO ambitious!   All this work and still celebrating your birthday ~ You go gurl!

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/03/2014 8:53 PM)

Hello my friend
smiley10
This was our day today. Gloomy but not cold so we kept the door open. I was going to ask Suz to take me on a drive Sun but I see it is supposed to rain. Hmmm, do not know if that scenic drive is going to happen. I will not be getting my INR done until Monday as Suz was busy today and she works overtime tomorrow morning. So Monday...I turned that 2 week repeat into a 3,lol. I wonder if they will say anything. This next time I will need to go to the clinic instead of the lab.

I read about both the Ebola issues. Scary because that man in Houston came in contact with a lot of people. I think a lot of cases will not get diagnosed quick enough and they will be sent home just like that guy was...until they heard where he was from.

I did not hear about this newest beheading. It is so sick and a horrible way to kill someone. I see that they seem to use knives that would require some sawing instead of a big scimitar or something like that. I hate to say it but I would like to see ISIS, ISIL annihilated, wiped off the face of the earth. And every other sick asshole who thinks it is alright to kill people who do not share the same religion or views.

Ahhhh hell, my credit card is Chase also, lol. Everywhere you turn there is something going wrong. Maybe so that when good things happen we appreciate them all the more. Today on Ellen she had a man in a WC and his wife on. He has ALS and he cannot move very well and his speech is so slurred. Ellen told the audience about how ALS works with everything breaking down and failing but that your mind stays alert and is not effected which makes it so much sadder. He was a fire fighter. To me that made it so much sadder. But then they told about his fire dept. and how his fellow fire fighters take turns taking his shifts so that he still gets a paycheck. They have been doing it for 3 years now and are not going to stop. This filled me with so much hope. What wonderful people. Not just his station but all the others in the area. How awesome is that?
Ellen gave something to the fire fighters, not sure what...but then she told the couple that Shutterfly wanted to help and they were giving them $50,000.00 They could not believe it...I cried. I love watching her show because there are many of these moments on there and I love seeing people who are in need being helped.

I missed the season opening of Criminal Minds. I thought it was on at 9 our time but it must have been 8 as I could not find it. That show should be on at 9 considering it's content. If it was that yucky, I better watch it when mom is not around. She already hates the show. I do not know why but it fascinates me. I also love the cast. I saw Jennifer Love Hewitt on Ellen the same day as the shows opener. I hated her hair. It
looks like it got caught in the mixers beaters and got torn off. How did you like her character. I used to love to watch Ghost Whisperer but I did not love her. I do not know why. So when I saw she joined CM I was not excited about it. So did someone leave? I hope not.

Another tag as I made us tags of the group heading too.
Hugs,

A Lou Ann  TagBot Borders

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/04/2014 11:37 AM)

Grocery Delivery today.  We needed a small grocery run and decided to try and see if we could justify a Delivery instead.  We started by adding all the groceries (except the meat) needed for Mike's annual Halloween chili and then kept finding more and more things to add.  Now it's worked into a major delivery.  The chili ingredients include lots and lots of heavy cans, then we need (heavy) cat litter and some diet pop and . . .  How I love being able to do this .

Last night we did go to the Bonefish for Mike's 'Reward' meal and ended up bringing half of it home, so no cooking tonight.  Yay!

While we were in the restaurant, Mike's Doctor called.  I had my cell phone in my purse and didn't hear it, so we missed the call.  Luckily, the Dr is in the office this morning, so Mike can call him back and find out what's up.   Since we hadn't heard from him, we thought all the blood test results were good and we were just looking for the printout in the mail.   Hopefully it's still not bad.   I'll let you know when I do.

Well Poop!   The Dr does NOT work today so Mike will have to wait until Monday to call.   If that Nincompoop had any idea how much Mike stresses waiting for results when he calls on Friday night and then leaves . . .    grrr.

Thank you for yet another darling tag!   I love it!

I agree,  it just seems like one horrid thing after another.  It's overwhelming.   I'm becoming more and more concerned about the "Mystery sickness" that is effecting so many kids, many here in Colorado.  Another little boy died yesterday, and so many of the kids are paralyzed, whether permanently or not I don't know.   This HAS to be associated with the hordes crossing our borders from areas where disease is prevalent, don't you think?   I guess I'm just mean to think it isn't wonderful to welcome everyone in along with all their various diseases, drugs and other crimes.   I'm really frightened.

Then yesterday ISIS beheaded another good man, this time a Brit, and showed "next up", and American man who has devoted his life to caring for others.     The new thing is for ISIS/ISIL to instruct the "Lone Wolf" members in America and other locations to use Social Media or whatever else is available to locate the FAMILIES of Service Men and women and kidnap and kill them!   God help us.

I do share your wish for the members of ISIS/ISIL, Hamas and any other group that thinks if you don't agree with them they have the right to kill and dismember you.   I want them all gone, and in the most horrid way possible.  They are lucky I am not in charge of the universe.   Worse, I would have no remorse.

I have long thought that the Islamic extremist were nothing but a bunch of filthy Pedophiles in the first place.  Think about it ~ old men "marry" very young children, and these "heros" expect 70 virgins.  Anyone really think they are expecting unmarried women in their 20s?  (Oh, I do carry not being PC to the extreme, don't I?   Ha.  Still, that IS what I think.)

Yes, Criminal Minds was particularly yukky this last time.   I think Jennifer Love Hewitt replaced Jean Tripplehorn.  At least she wasn't there in this episode.  Hewitt's character was ok.  I don't "know" the new character well enough to have an opinion yet.

ALS is such a horrid disease.  I would feel sorry for Mike and me having neurological malfunctions, but I know how much worse things could be and how lucky we are.  ALS is right up there at the top of the list.   Nothing could make it ok, but how lovely that there are good people willing to give so much of themselves to try.  I'd have been crying with you.

Have a great day, and thanks again so much for my darling new tag!

FIRST OF ALL, I HATE MIKES DOCTOR FOR CALLING ON A FRIDAY AND LEAVING A MESSAGE WHEN HE KNEW IT WAS LATE AND HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN THE CALL TILL MONDAY, THAT REALLY SUCKS.  POOR MIKE AND POOR YOU AS I KNOW YOU SHARE HIS ANXIETY.

HONESTLY, I WISH GOD WOULD JUST GET FED UP WITH DEALING WITH TERRORIST, EVIL PEOPLE, CRIMINALLY INSANE AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT COMMITS HORRENDOUS CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AND WOULD JUST WIPE THEM OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH.  I MEAN, SOMEWHERE SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH THESE SUB HUMANS (AS YOU PUT IT)  I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE CANNOT SEE THAT IF WE ALL LIVED IN PEACE WITH EACH OTHER AND TREATED ALL PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS AND LOVE.  THINK OF WHAT THE WORLD COULD ACCOMPLISH IF WE ALL WORKED AS ONE TO HELP EACH OTHER.  THAT IS THE WORLD I WANT TO LIVE IN.
WITH THIS SICKNESS WITH THE KIDS...I WAS THINKING WHAT IF IT WERE SOME SORT OF VIRUS THAT SOMEONE HAS CREATED AND IS TESTING IT OUT ON OUR CHILDREN?  I THINK I HAVE WATCHED TOO MANY CRIMINAL MIND SHOWS....BUT IT REALLY COULD HAPPEN.  WE KNOW THERE ARE SO MANY TERRORISTS ALREADY ACCLIMATED INTO OUT COUNTRY.  IT REALLY IS SCARY.  I TRY NOT TO DWELL ON IT.  IT IS TOO FRIGHTENING.
THIS TAG CHALLENGE WAS TO USE BCA WORD ART FROM A BLOG SPOT, THERE WERE LIKE 4 TO CHOOSE FROM.  SO I MADE THESE.

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/05/2014 8:24 AM)

Full day yesterday but we actually got some things done.   The Grocery Delivery guy called and asked if he could come half an hour earlier than scheduled so by 10:15 everything had been delivered and put away.  Nice.  Young guy and he was really good, too, and unlike the women delivery people we've been getting, actually listened to what I said and put the right things in the garage and the rest in the house and didn't make me stand there waiting for him to get through 'pharting' around so I could tell him AGAIN where things went. AND he complimented us on both the Lincoln and the house ~ what's not to like?

Remember when we put some plants in the Powder Room Shower a while back?  While we liked it better than just having a never-to-be-used shower in the Powder Room looking so utilitarian, it still looked unfinished somehow.   Sooooo ~ we added a rug to the shower floor.

Elegant Guest Bathroom Designer Ideas ~~~Not yet seen in Home Designer Magazines.
 smiley87

What you do with a shower stall when you never intend for anyone to take a shower in the Powder Room, but to only use it as a W.C.?   After all, overnight guests do have their very own full bath downstairs in their Guest Suite.

Can’t really get a good picture because of the reflection of the glass, and when you use the flash the colors are a tad brighter than they are in real life.  The one shade of a sort of reddish-brown almost perfectly matches the floor and shower tiles though.    Too cool for school?   Or perhaps another "Good Lord, what's that crazy woman done now?!"  LOL

Laugh if you like, but it makes my face smile when I go in there now.

Tonight on my TV:  The Paradise and then the new Inspector Lewis season on PBS.  We'll have to save The Good Wife to watch later.

Mike's doctor, it seems to me, always does that.  Calls when Mike is gone and even if I am there won't give the information to me.  I do understand that, but he leaves Mike stressing that something is wrong.  I don't think stress is good for any of us, contrary to what the Corporations say, and it's particularly problematic for someone with Parkinsons.  I think a lot of he trouble Mike had before the appointments came from stress and worry about them.  Neither of us handles things Medical well, but Mike is even worse about it than I am.    The woman he talked to on Saturday (an M.A. maybe?) said that the Dr had no notes on the form, and also that when he calls in on Monday he won't talk directly to the Dr but to an M.A.  That's new, but fine ~~ IF she or he has the information!

I agree ~ I don't see why we have to tolerate evil, sick people who seem consumed with hate and the need to hurt anyone who doesn't agree with them in any way they can.   I want them all gone from the planet!

I know we will never all agree on everything, and maybe our looking at things from other perspectives makes it a better world ~~~ until I need to KILL you because you don't like the same TV shows I do!   When I reach that point, someone needs to come and lock me up in a nice padded cell until I recover from my insanity ~ or forever, which ever comes first!

I hadn't thought about the "Mystery Illness" being man-made, but I can't discount the possibility, given the crazy world we find our selves living in.   I really think it is something that has been brought across the border by the hordes we are letting in from everywhere without any restrictions.   The states aren't even being told where these people (kids and adults) are ending up ~ like it's none of our business!   We are a "Nation of Immigrants", but the immigrants from whom we descended were medically tested to insure they weren't bring in disease, and they were checked to determine that they weren't criminals and had no evil intention for our country but really wanted to become part of us, and assimilate.  I seem to remember reading of a place called Ellis Island . . .     So many from other countries have petitioned to come to America in the same way, playing by the rules and becoming part of US, but instead they are shoved back to make way for those who totally disregard our laws.   It's simply wrong ~~~ and I don't understand why the 'Occupy Wallstreet' types don't 'get' that it's being done at the behest of the large corporations who want to reduce wages.    I won't continue my rant ~~ but you know I could ~ LOL

I've always believed, rather passionately, in out Two Party system because of it's checks and balances.   People who have genuine disagreements but who can still respect each other, even grudgingly ~ and not need to kill each other.   In the past, our relationship with other nations has mostly worked the same way, and when it didn't we had wars.   Now it seems like even the not-too-crazy people believe it's My Way or The Highway.  Admittedly, I am right about everything, and the rest of you should all fall in line with my way of thinking, but if you don't, who knows?  Maybe I could even learn something from you.  Ha.    Ramble over ~ there is no way around it.  The Islamic extremist must be stopped at any cost.  They don't have to live our way, but if they can't allow us to live in peace in the way WE choose to live, then THEY must be stopped.  Permanently.

 End of today's sermon.
smiley87   More importantly ~~ what is on the schedule for today's Birthday Event?   Party ON!!

I love your Brest Cancer tag ~~ beautiful!

Make it a great day!

I do not have much to say today. No new tags. I ran a very detailed scan of my computer and since I have about 100gb on my C:drive it took a couple hours and I am behind on everything. But my lappy is running beautifully. Now I need to take the time and move some files onto flash drives to free up some space.

They were just talking about Ellis Island and showed a pic and it was of the hospital that was on Ellis Island. So many immigrants were deathly ill from the crossing and conditions on board.  They say these are different times, but some things we can learn from the past.  These children coming across from all over should be put into quarantine until they know they are not bringing diseases into the country.  They do it to dogs and cats coming in...why not people?

No more celebrations...I am birthdayed out.  My sister Suz is taking me to get my blood checked tomorrow.  I am going to see if she can take me to Shopko and they have more recliners on sale and I think one of them might work for me.
I love the rug in the shower. It makes me smile too. I never would have thought of it, but it's perfect and I love the colors.  I forgot to mention that you have been using a great many cute tags. Loving them.
Hugs,

OOOOOooooooh.

Deck the Halls with Ghouls and Witches

Fa-la-la-la-la . . . . . .

I tried to come up with a next line for my "song" but the only thing I could think of that rhymed with witches was . . . .

Anyway, we DID put up our inside Halloween decorations yesterday, such as they are.  We have so many things that we can't put out because of the Clear-the-decks Cat.   We covered the mantle with stuffed Halloween cats and bears and added a few in the library and in the hall.  Not all that sophisticated, but sort of cozy I think.  I looked for pictures of previous years because I was sure we had put things up, but according to the pictures we were pretty minimalist the last few years.  Skimpy, even.  Now we have too much up, so it should even out.  Ha.

I ordered some inexpensive Fall wreaths that I'm going to try to use in the pots in the front of the house, laying them down across the top of the pots and then put a real pumpkin in the center of each wreath. It's all I can think of since I can't "plant" artificial flowers (like I have the last three years) because they are often blown away by our terrible winds. I hope the heavy pumpkins will anchor the wreaths down.  If not, I'm giving up on Fall outside decoration!

I'm sorry the Birthday celebration is over ~ but believe me I do understand.  A person can only handle so much partying!  Ha!

I was going to ask if/when you were going to go shopping for your new chair.   I hope and PRAY you find one that is absolutely perfect, in stock, and can easily be delivered whether by family or by the store!   I'll be excited to hear it has arrived ~ or is on the way!

I'm so glad you like my crazy decorating.  I'm sure lots of people will just think it's weird ~~~ but what do THEY know?  HA!   It really does make me smile every time I go in there.

I'm glad your laptop is running so well.  Good idea to put many things on flash drives ~ clearly you have tons of great stuff.   I hope your organization skills are MUCH better than mine.   I will distinctly remember a tag or a snag that I want to use ~ and then TRY to find it!  Did I file it under Halloween, or by the person I snagged it from, or . . .   Who knows what might have seemed like a good idea to me when I saved it?! LOL

Have a totally superior Monday!

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/06/2014 10:41 PM)

I GOT A NEW RECLINER.  THERE WAS ONLY ONE THAT FIT MY REQUIREMENTS.  THERE WERE SEVERAL IN LEATHER, BUT I DID NOT WANT THAT AS I SAID BEFORE IT IS TOO COLD IN WINTER AND TOO HOT IN SUMMER.  THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY BIG BRAND NAMES THAT I SAW.  THE ONE I BOUGHT IS CALLED THE JUDD.  I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A STYLE NAME OR A COMPANY NAME.  IT ORIGINALLY COST $799 BUT WAS ON SALE FOR $399.  I ALSO PURCHASED A 2 YEAR STORE WARRANTY THAT COVERS JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING.  SO I AM GOOD FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS, THOUGH I HOPE TO GET MORE THAN THAT OUT OF IT.  IT IS NOT A CLOUD LIKE MY LAST ONE, BUT IT IS VERY CUSHY AND FITS ME FAR BETTER THAN THE PUNY BROWN ONE THAT IS NOW IN THE LIVING ROOM.  THE NEW ONE IS TAN.  I AM THINKING I WILL SLEEP WELL TONIGHT.  HOPE SO ANYWAY.

NOT SUCH GOOD NEWS WHEN IT COMES TO THE INR.  I AM LOW...REALLY PUSHING IT LOW.  1.54 AND 1.5 IS WHEN YOU HAVE TO COME IN FOR DAILY SHOTS.  I SAID THAT IS REALLY DIFFICULT FOR ME.  SO SHE WENT AND SPOKE WITH THE PHARMACIST AND THEY DOUBLED MY DOSAGE TODAY AND TOMORROW AND THEN REG DOSE AND RECHECK ON MON.
WHEW, THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE.  I DID HAVE CHINESE 3 TIMES THIS PAST WEEK AND I AM SURE THAT THERE WAS SOME CABBAGE IN THEIR SOMEWHERE BUT I DID NOT CHOSE ANY OF MY FAVORITES BECAUSE OF THE CABBAGE AND BROCCOLI.  OH WELL.  WILL WATCH THE GREENS THIS WEEK.
THOUGH I DID HAVE A LOT OF GARLIC AND ONIONS BUT I THINK THEY THIN THE BLOOD SO THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

I TALKED TO SUZANNE TODAY ABOUT GOING ON A SCENIC DRIVE AND SHE SAID JERRY WAS SAYING THAT HE WANTED TO DO THAT VERY THING SO WE ARE TENTATIVELY PLANNING ON NEXT SAT.  WOO HOO!!!  ASKED MOM IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO GO AND SHE DOES NOT WANT TO.  SO IT WILL JUST BE JERRY, SUZ AND I.  UNLESS TRAVIS OR JORDAN DECIDE TO GO, BUT I DOUBT IT.  I'M SO EXCITED, AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT, I'M ABOUT TO LOSE CONTROL AND I THINK I LIKE IT!
LOL.
I LOVE YOUR IDEA WITH THE WREATHS AND THE PUMPKINS.  SO VERY CLEVER AND SHOULD LOOK AWESOME.  I LOVE THE IDEA OF YOUR HALLOWEEN BEARS AND CATS. I DONATED 3 HALLOWEEN CATS TO THE ARC BINGO.  NOW I WISH I HAD KEPT THEM.  MOM WAS LOOKING FOR 2 PUMPKINS SHE HAD BUT SHE THINKS SHE TOOK THEM TO ARC ALSO.  I DUG A FIBER OPTIC JACK O'LANTERN I FOUND IN MY ROOM WHEN CLEANING.  BUT I GOT BATTERIES AND PUT THEM IN AND IT DOES NOT WORK.  THAT MAKES ME SO MAD AS IT HAS NEVER BEEN USED BUT ON THE SHELVES FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, SO NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT NOT WORKING.  I HAD A LOT OF HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS, INCLUDING A WROUGHT IRON HAUNTED HOUSE THAT YOU PUT TEA LIGHTS IN TO LIGHT IT UP AND I HAD SOME ADORABLE LITTLE CERAMIC PUMPKINS THAT WERE PERFECT FOR IT.  BUT ONLY HEAVEN KNOWS WHERE IT IS AND ALL THE OTHER HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS.  I JUST LOVE YOUR BAT TAG.  THAT BAT IS SO VERY CUTE.
WELL, OFF TO THE NEW SLEEP CHAIR VERY SOON.
HUGS,

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/07/2014 8:51 AM)

Good Morning.

I just love looking at all the great Halloween and Fall tags and borders! Make my face smile, they do!

Mike FINALLY talked to his Doctor at 5:20 last night!  (I won't start.)  Basically everything is fine.  His uric acid is up a bit (he had two gout attacks before the physical, the first he's had in close to a year.  Stress causes gout, among other things . . .) and his white count is up slightly, but not as much as previous years.  Both easily explained by the gout attacks, but since he has the same results at almost every physical, the Dr said the consistently elevated white count could be 'chronic leukemia'.  He'd said that before, hence Mike's worry.  He said he could send Mike to a specialist, but their blood test might not show anything either and they wouldn't know unless there were other symptoms, which there aren't.  It could be "something" or not ~ Some people are just like that (and I quote).  Aarrgghh, followed by we know everything is fine and Mike wanted me to thank you so much for your prayers!   You really helped get him through this stressful time!!  ♥

smiley1

Hooray that you got a new chair ~~ and boo-bad that it is not a 'cloud' ~~ and Hooray that it was on a good sale!  I really hope and pray that you sleep well in it.  You know I'll be anxious to hear!

I'm so sorry about your INR.  Too much going on right now, probably. I'm glad you could talk her out of the daily shots and I will pray that doubling the dosage gets you back up where you need to be.

I am SOOOO glad you are going to get to go on your Fall Scenic Tour!   I know you didn't get to go last  year, and I can only imagine how beautiful Wisconsin is now.   I see lots of pictures posted of beautiful leaves in Colorado, and I have to wonder if they weren't from LAST year.  Seriously!   At least around here the leaves are not turning pretty, just sort of a dull brownish or goldish.  Our Summer weather was funky and I suspect that's the reason.  Anyway I don't think it's going to be all that pretty, at least here in the lower elevations.  Maybe it's better in the mountains.   Take your camera!  I need to see some of that lovely Wisconsin color!

Tee Hee ~ you know me well enough to know that when I was thinking for the next line in my "song", the word that came to mind to rhyme with Witches was not Ditches.  LOL.

I hope you slept like a BABY in your new chair!

RE:OCTOBER CHAT
(Date Posted:10/07/2014 7:17 PM)

I WISH I HAD SOMETHING MORE POSITIVE TO SAY.  I HAD A HORRIBLE NIGHT.  THE CHAIR HITS MY BACK WRONG WHEN I RECLINE IT BACK.  IT IS CUSHY, BUT A FIRM CUSHY AND IT PUSHES OUT INTO THE MIDDLE TO LOW PART OF MY BACK.  THE OLD CHAIR WAS SORT OF INWARDLY CURVED LIKE A HAMMOCK.  IT COULD BE THAT IT GOT THAT WAY WITH TIME BUT RIGHT NOW IT REALLY HITS MY BACK WRONG.  I AM GOING TO TRY TO PLACE A PILLOW IN THE LOWER BACK AND SEE IF THAT HELPS.  MY BACK WAS HURTING AND MAKING ME RESTLESS.  ALSO THE HEAD IS DIFFERENT.  I USED A NECK PILLOW WITH THE LAST ONE, BUT WITH THIS CHAIR BEING FIRMER, IT DOES NOT FIT RIGHT AND I COULD NOT GET ME HEAD AND NECK COMFORTABLE.  GOING TO TRY A SMALL PILLOW TONIGHT.  THEN IF THE BACK OF THE CHAIR IS NOT BACK ENOUGH THEN THE FOOT REST DOES NOT STAY UP AND I KEPT FINDING MY LEGS GOING DOWN. TO TOP IT OFF, I NEED TO GET A NEW PILLOW FOR MY C-PAP AND IT WAS NOT FITTING WELL...I NEW I FORGOT SOMETHING AT THE STORE AND IT WAS THE BREATHING STRIPS FOR MY NOSE.  MY NASAL OPENINGS ARE SMALL AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A SMALL PILLOW IT FITS SO MUCH BETTER WITH THE STRIPS ON.  SO IT DOES NOT HELP NOT HAVING ANY AND NEEDING A NEW PILLOW.  SO ALL THIS MADE FOR A BAD NIGHT.  I NEED TO CALL THE CPAP PLACE AND ARRANGE MY SISTER PICKING UP A PILLOW FOR ME.  ALL THIS PILLOW TALK MUST BE CONFUSING SINCE I AM REFERRING TO THE C-PAP PILLOW, A BACK PILLOW AND A NECK PILLOW, LOL.  SO DISAPPOINTED...I SLEPT BETTER IN THE CRAP CHAIR WHICH IS NOW IN OUR LIVING ROOM.

SO I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DO NOT GO AHEAD AND DO THE OTHER TEST THAT MAY OR MAY NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION?   SINCE IT MAY ANSWER IT AND THEN YOU WOULD KNOW.  SAME THING WITH THE BLOOD TEST TO FIND OUT ABOUT MY IMMUNE SYSTEM.  iT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH FAT IS FLOATING IN THE BLOOD AND OTHER THINGS.  THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT DONE IT WAS INCONCLUSIVE.  MONTHS LATER WE REPEATED IT AND IT DID SHOW THAT MY IMMUNE SYSTEM WAS GREATLY COMPROMISED.  SO IT JUST SHOWS THAT IT MIGHT GIVE YOU THE ANSWER YOU NEED.

I WATCHED CRIMINAL MINDS ON DEMAND AND REALLY DID NOT THINK IT WAS MUCH WORSE THAN SOME OF THE PAST EPISODES.  LIKE THE ONE WHERE THE GUY WAS KIDNAPPING WOMEN, MAKING THEM EAT PARTS OF HIS EX-GIRLFRIENDS HEAD AND THEN KILLING THEM.  THAT ONE REALLY CREEPED MY OUT.  THIS ONE, WITH THE LEG FETISH WAS REALLY WEIRD.  I ALSO THOUGHT THAT JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT WAS PRETTY GOOD IN HER ROLL, BUT I AM OLD SCHOOL AND THAT HAIR HAS TO GO.  I LIKED IT BETTER WHEN SHE WAS UNDERCOVER AT THE BEGINNING.  MAYBE WITH ALL THIS BEHEADING SHIT IS MAKING YOU MORE SENSITIVE TO VIOLENCE, TORTURE, ABUSE, ETC.  MAYBE I AM IMMUNE.

ADIOS MI AMIGO!
