Before ~ rock slopes down, lot of exposed cement porch.

May, 2012

June, 2013    Lilac bushes have grown quite a bit.   Slope still slopes.  :-)

After.  New retaining wall.   Trying to save the lilac bushes which had been left, roots exposed in 90+ degree heat for 4 days.   We had envisioned the wall being one brick (or so) higher, and farther out into the rock, but it still looks better than it did, don't you think?

First lilac bush already dying, flower pots not straightened, but you can get the idea, eh?
Plan is to put a Mock Orange on the left side in the retaining wall and reduce the expanse of porch there.  Then when the lilacs fill in, it should look nice.   Hopefully.

The process ~~

The poor Lilac bushes!
